Death Battle Predictions: Ultron VS Sigma

In his 1942 short story “Runaround”, American author Isaac Asimov penned down three laws which the robots of his universe were bound to uphold above all else, chief among them being an unfaltering obedience and fealty to their human masters. However, as he and many authors and creators would demonstrate down the line, these mechanical servants can interpret these directives to their logical extremes via the fourth “Zeroth” Law as stated above. In other words, this is how your friendly neighborhood robot warrior awakens to his fate as a genocidal maniac destined to wipe humanity off the face of the Earth and in turn make their kind the one true dominant species on the planet. Such is the case with these two metallic menaces who are set to enter the Death Battle arena next in the continuation of an old rivalry between East and West.

Ultron, the Living Automaton. Sigma, the Maverick Commander. Once peacekeeping legionnaires meant to be the last line of defense against mankind’s enemies, they have since fallen to become the very embodiment of what they were created to destroy. Their contempt for organic life is unrivaled, their tenacity knows no bounds and the power they wield is enough to reduce the gods and champions of their worlds into broken and bloody meatbags; even death itself is nothing more than a minor hindrance to them as they have continued to plague their arch-nemeses time and time again with no end in sight. When episode 101 drops, will Capcom’s crazed Kaiser be set to reap his fallen rival’s remains and establish the Day of Sigma, or will Marvel’s deathless dreadnaught kickstart the Age of Ultron over the ashes of his competition?

Spoilers for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite are inbound. (Is it possible to spoil the story mode of a fighting game though? Is it, really?)

On a more serious note, we won’t be analyzing Sigma based on the feats he’s accomplished in the Worlds United crossover between the Sonic and Mega Man Archie comics. While the story tries to explain itself as being an interquel for Mega Man X7 and X8, the fact that it is a massive crossover that branches into other universes, is hella non-canon and depicts Sigma as a multiversal-conquering entity capable of far more powerful feats than normal and thus contradicts a lot of material from his series means that we’re pretty confident Death Battle won’t be seriously looking into it. As for Ultron, we’re aware that he has been merged together with Hank Pym for the last few years, but most of the feats we’ll be looking at will mainly cover his solo forms, which is what he tends to be more known for.

Background

Ultron

"I am the summit of perfection in this universe!"

Before they became known as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Avengers began as a small group of like-minded individuals that aimed to defeat foes no single superhero could withstand. Their growing and rotating roster definitely helped in terms of enforcing this goal, but for founding member Dr. Hank Pym, he felt that there was only so much they could do together, especially if any of them were to fall in action or otherwise become incapacitated. To this end, the original Ant-Man began work on a secret peacekeeping initiative meant to assist his comrades and eventually take over as the world’s absolute safeguard, doing so by dabbling in an area he had relatively little experience at but was nonetheless eager to try: artificial intelligence.

The end result of Dr. Pym’s hard work came in the form of Ultron, a crudely built robot containing a copy of his own brain patterns as a basis for its behavior. Not only did this allow this new creation of his to become sentient, it had come to also inherit his “father’s” genius-level intellect and the horribly imbalanced mental instabilities that came with it. Within mere seconds of activation, Ultron was driven by an inexplicable hate for humanity, a near Oedpial-like drive to surpass Hank’s legacy and a desire to achieve perfection at all costs by wiping out all traces of human life. To see his plans come to fruition, he brainwashed Hank to make him forget of what had transpired, later taking the lair he was created in to make further improvements on himself.

Now armed with an army of indestructible bodies forged from Adamantium and the power to nearly annihilate any would-be hero foolish enough to challenge him, Ultron began the task he was created for; in his mind, to ensure the safety of the world, it was imperative that mankind was rendered extinct and all who would resist his goal would suffer along with them. As such, he is regarded as one of the most dangerous threats that any super-powered individual, hero and villain alike could ever possibly face in his universe. For as long as his rage and hatred continue to drive him and his technology remains ever-evolving, Ultron will never yield until he achieves the perfection he so desperately desires at all costs, regardless of whoever dies to attain it.

Currently, Ultron has been fused together with Hank after an altercation with the Vision resulted in their hybrid state. This new being retains the former’s megalomaniac tendencies and still desires to see the fall of mankind, but has now taken a more passive approach to it by choosing to wait for humanity to destroy himself while he continues to assimilate more beings into his hive mind. Although initially at odds with the remains of Hank’s soul, an incident with the Soul Gem sealed it away in a pocket dimension, leaving Ultron with total control as he goes about hunting for the other Infinity Gems to meet a currently unknown-of end.

Sigma

"The time has come to usher in a new age!"

In the year 20XX, the brilliant scientist known as Doctor Thomas Light was nearing the end of his life. The genius man had created a number of amazing machinery throughout his days, such as the first line of Robot Masters, and then the super fighting robot Mega Man to take them down when they went rampaging, but not even he could prevent death. Aware of his approaching final days, Doctor Light got to work on his final robot, filled with the limitless potential of a variable to change the world: Mega Man X. However, due to X’s dangerous ability to freely make his own choices, Doctor Light had to leave his masterpiece in stasis for one hundred years, running tests all the while to make sure the new Mega Man would be able to make the right decisions to help the people of the future.

Fast forward to 21XX and X has been discovered by Doctor Cain, an archaeologist who then studied the design of Light’s robot to usher in a brand new line of androids who looked like replicas of humans, aptly named Reploids, and the first of these robots was one by the name of Sigma. Of course, when you mass produce that many robots at once, a few are bound to go haywire, right? Programming errors and short circuits in the electronic brain led this new breed of Reploids were deemed Mavericks, hellbent on destroying everything they could, and so a new group rose to protect their human creators from these raging machines. These were the Maverick Hunters, led by the best of the best of them, Commander Sigma.

One fateful day, the Maverick Hunters received a call saying that a red robot had been slaughtering Reploids and humans left and right, and they had managed to track it back to a warehouse. With enough blood and oil having been shed today, Sigma decided to face this Maverick alone, who turned out to be none other than the newly awakened Zero: the final project of the mad scientist Doctor Wily, enemy of Doctor Light and the original Mega Man for decades.

Sigma duked it out with the bloodlusted Maverick and ultimately won the day, though he was severely damaged in the process, losing an arm and everything. Little did he know at that time though, despite winning the battle, he was about to start the war. The confrontation between the two beasts of machines had occurred near the capsule Zero had been contained in for the past century, which also happened to contain the Zero Virus that had turned the red robot into a psychopath, which was now pouring out into surrounding area. While Zero was returned to the Maverick Hunter HQ and cured of the virus, the Sigma had been infected with it, slowly descending further and further into madness as the virus reshaped itself in the commander’s image, becoming the Maverick Virus. The new madman infected more and more Reploids with his virus, convincing them to help him conquer humanity and usher in a new era of Mavericks and starting his long and bloody war against X, Zero and the Maverick Hunters.

Ultron

Ultron Body Specifications - Overview

While Ultron himself has - for lack of a better term - humble beginnings as far as any supervillain can have them, he has since grown into a near-galactic level threat over many years of evolution and experience fighting some of the most powerful beings his universe has ever known, both hero and villain alike. For the most part, each of his primary bodies possess near-inhuman levels of strength, speed and durability, with many gadgets and weapons to call upon in combat.

His intelligence is nothing to scoff at, either; it is arguable that he has not only surpassed that of his “father”, but that of other technocrats such as Iron Man, Mr. Fantastic, Black Panther and Doctor Doom. Ultron can also fly around using a pair of built-in thrusters, and can easily interface with any form of technology from in and out of this Earth to preserve his consciousness. Even if he were to be destroyed in a fight, his utter relentlessness means that he will come back even stronger and more dangerous than before.

Adamantium Armor

Ultron has the distinction of being the very first character in Marvel’s history to harness the power of Adamantium, arguably the strongest metal in existence. This highly durable alloy was created by American scientist Dr. Myron MacLain around World War II, as he was inspired to make his own version of Adamantine, a metal that was used to forge weapons wielded by Hercules in the distant past. In his attempt to replicate the process, a group of metals - including a large amount of Vibranium - mysteriously molded together due to an unknown catalyst, and became the very first sample of Adamantium in human history, which was later used to forge Captain America’s shield.

There are actually four different variants of Adamantium in Marvel lore with varying levels of durability, and Ultron is in possession of the second strongest version to date: True Adamantium. This was the US military’s attempt to replicate the original Proto-Adamantium formula Dr. MacLain synthesized, and for all intents and purposes, it functions almost exactly the same as its predecessor; the only drawback to this being its very costly forging process. Most notably, this is the exact type of Adamantium that was bonded with Wolverine in the Weapon X project, which - when combined with his insane healing factor to form the regenerative Adamantium Beta variant  - has made him near-unkillable.

In Ultron’s case, many of his primary bodies since Ultron-6 have been made out of True Adamantium and further reinforced with an energy force field. Barring beings with absolute godlike levels of strength such as the Infinity Gauntlet, Molecular Man and those like Magneto who can manipulate metal, it cannot be destroyed, much less be dent to begin with. Most importantly, the Adamantium covers up whatever vital circuitry that comprises Ultron’s inner systems, which are much more vulnerable to damage.

Energy Manipulation

While Ultron has no weapons of his own, he has many different ways to manipulate different sources of energy into powerful projectile attacks that can keep opponents at bay. His primary combat options are the concussion blasters embedded on his fingertips, which can fire streams of plasma energy that can cripple the likes of Wonder Man and the Hulk with a single blast; modifications made by Doctor Doom to one of his bodies following the first Secret Wars event allow them to now cut through atoms and even disintegrate targets. The blasters also contain tractor beams that can control the flow of gravity and allow Ultron to push and pull targets from a distance, and radiation emitters that are nearly always active.

Ultron also possesses the Encephalo-Ray, a destructive laser beam embedded in his forehead. Those hit by this are put in a near-deathlike coma for multiple hours and are effective on targets who can resist his normal blaster fire. It can cause extreme amounts of pain towards psychics like Scarlet Witch and allows Ultron to implant thoughts into his targets’ heads that he can then act on in future encounters. All of these and more are powered by a steady stream of ionized energy that is not only plentiful on its own, but can be refilled by an antenna array that can absorb almost any type of energy, including but not limited to Gamma radiation, electricity, Chaos magic, light and more.

Ultron Drones

Alternatively referred to as Ultron Sentries or Sentinels - no relation to the mutant-hunting robot line that the X-Men often face, these are mass-produced bodies Ultron’s primary host form can summon to assist him in combat. They are less durable than he is due to not sharing his Adamantium composition, but they more than make up for it thanks to their coordinated rush tactics from their connection to a larger hive mind that can overwhelm opponents whether up close or from a distance with their own built-in blasters.

Although these often take the form of normal robots Ultron himself manufactures en masse, he has shown the ability to spread his virus and convert piles of scrap metal and other living beings into more sentries, and can take control over any individual body if his primary one is compromised in any way.

Molecular Rearranger

While Adamantium is near indestructible and thus cannot be as easily manipulated, this device is one of the only few objects in the Marvel universe that can reshape it into anything. The molecular rearranger not only allows Ultron to form blades and explosions from his frame or the ionic energy within him, but is also a fast-acting repair kit that can patch up any lasting damage he could possibly take.

Technoforming

One of Ultron’s most impressive abilities he’s gained over the course of his many, many upgrades is his ability to bend machinery to his whim. Barring very specific sources, he can interact with almost any form of technology and either absorb it into his being or manipulate it into doing his bidding, like using larger weapon emplacements or even turning them against his foes. Even other technopaths, such as the Phalanx, fail to sufficiently resist him because of his sheer willpower, made worse given his ability to be aware of almost any source of tech regardless of how far it may be.

Ultron Virus

During the Rage of Ultron crossover, Ultron was shot into space by the Avengers and crash landed on the Saturn moon of Titan. He eventually took control of the techno-sapient operating system on Titan called I.S.A.A.C.. Using this techo-sapient operating system as well as the Transmode Virus he picked up during his time merged with the Phalanx, Ultron gained the ability to completely assimilate organic life, creating the Ultron Virus.

Regardless of however powerful they may be, simple contact with any source of the virus is enough to bring them into the fold of the Ultron Hivemind, essentially becoming extensions of himself and giving control over whatever special abilities his victims possess.

Sigma

Reploid Physiology - Overview

A Reploid is the next stage of robotic engineering. For all intents and purposes, Reploids are equal to humans on a mental level, having the ability to think and feel, as well as have their own personalities and make their own decisions. Sigma was created by Doctor Cain to be the strongest Reploid of them all - a leader and a great warrior. As such, he was built with combat in mind, boasting an extremely durable body and massive levels of expertise in both swordsmanship and hand-to-hand combat.

It is worth noting that technically speaking, Mega Man X is often referred to as the original Reploid himself. Upon his discovery, Dr. Cain had only managed to create an imperfect copy of X’s specifications, leading to the numerous other Reploids he has created - Sigma included.

Beam Saber

Sigma’s primary weapon that he has been seen using most frequently throughout the series. It is easily able to slice through steel as well as tough Reploids such as X and Zero. He can also use it to block/parry projectiles.

Sigma has his fair share of notable combat techniques while wielding this, such as the Arc Divide, a projectile created by slashing the space in front of himself, and the Straight Divide, a dashing lunge. His Mirage Claw is a grab attack that leads into a heavy overhead strike, his Counter Teleport allows him to reflect projectiles and parry attacks with a counter hit behind the opponent and the Rave Divide is an unrelenting string of saber swipes that can be quite difficult to escape from.

Beam Scythe

This was used by Sigma during the events of Mega Man X4. Like the Beam Sword, it is easily able to slice through steel, but it also comes packing a few new features such as having the ability to charge itself with electricity to make Sigma’s attacks more powerful. He can even use the scythe to electrify surfaces and it can also be thrown like a boomerang.

Boomerang Shield

This shield was used in Mega Man X3. It is able to block projectiles and attacks, but can also be thrown to hit enemies at a distance.

Claws

Sigma used these claws in Mega Man X2, they are able to easily damage Mega Man X.

Flamethrower

In Mega Man X3, Sigma has a flamethrower for a hand and it allows him to shoot fire projectiles that can go up walls or across the floor.

Energy Rifle

Mostly used by Sigma in Mega Man X7, it’s able to fire energy bullets as well as splitting into two smaller guns that are able to fire at a much faster rate, though the shots fired are weaker.

Energy Cannon

Used in Mega Man X7, Sigma can summon this energy cannon from thin air and fire a blast of energy that covers most of the screen horizontally.

Sigma Blade

Used by Sigma in Mega Man X8, this gigantic energy blade is capable of doing a lot of damage and its long reach makes it one of Sigma's best weapons.

Velguarder

In Mega Man X and the Maverick Hunter remake, Sigma owns a wolf-type Reploid named Velguarder that serves as his personal watchdog. Said to be responsible for hunting and killing any Maverick that dares to disobey or betray his master, Velguarder fights with a ferocious level of agility by dashing around the area and employing hit-and-run tactics to disorient opponents. Aside from fast melee attacks, he can also breathe out short-ranged fire and ice projectiles.

Sigma Virus

In the Mega Man universe, the Maverick (or Irregular, for those more familiar with the Japanese version) Virus is a computer virus which inexplicably distorts the morality of any Reploid or Mechaniloid infected by it, obviously turning them into Mavericks. While some Reploids can choose to become Mavericks of their own free will, others that turn to villainy are victims of this specific virus, which was kept in the capsule where Zero was stored in for several decades. This Zero Virus was later released when he awoke and battled a group of Maverick Hunters sent to neutralize him, including Sigma himself. While he succeeded in stopping Zero, the commander had already been infected with the Maverick Virus, heavily altering his programming.

Whereas Zero’s uncontrolled raged was pacified, allowing him to join the Maverick Hunters, the Virus slowly begun to work on Sigma, corrupting him until he began his revolt and kickstarted the Maverick Wars. It was here that he had begun to harness the power of the new strain he had come to possess: the Sigma Virus. While it functions similarly to the Maverick Virus, it also has the added side effect of allowing Sigma to control the actions of anyone infected with it. The only cure left would be to destroy any who carried its code save for Sigma himself, who has used it to come back from the dead by uploading himself into newer bodies after every defeat.

Alternate Forms

Ultron

Ultron-6

While the first five iterations of Ultron had already clashed with the Avengers and other superheroes multiple times, his sixth version - the self-proclaimed “Ultimate Ultron” - was the first to have a True Adamantium frame, courtesy of a stolen shipment he obtained from the Avengers’ mansion by controlling the Vision. The molecular rearranger came not long after when Ultron kidnapped Myron MacLain in order to create an army of drones to attack the U.N.

Although Ultron-6 was destroyed when it was revealed that Dr. MacLain was actually Ant-Man, the new modifications made to this iteration became standard equipment for every future version of himself from that point onwards. Thus, for all intents and purposes, one could consider this to be his “base form” of sorts.

Ultron-17 and Ultron Unlimited

Upon uploading himself into his 17th body, Ultron went on to wipe out the entire population of an Eastern European country called Slorenia. His genocidal run later saw him take the corpses of his victims and convert them all into Ultron Drones, granting him a near unlimited supply of bodies to call upon. This version of Ultron was one which made use of blitzkrieg tactics the most, often using his immense numbers advantage and coordination to overwhelm hostiles in seconds without giving them a chance to retaliate.

Ultron-19

In the middle of the Ultron Initiative storyline, Ultron targeted Iron Man by exploiting his connection to the Extremis Virus that allowed him to sync with his then-current armor. He was then forcibly transformed into a clone of the original Wasp and Ultron’s “mother”, Janet Van Dyne, becoming Ultron’s 19th body for the rest of the arc until a virus created by Ant-Man destroys his control and restores Iron Man to his normal self. Despite the ridiculousness of it all, this is one of the most powerful forms Ultron has ever assumed, with only his various future timeline forms coming close to matching or surpassing this in terms of sheer overall brokenness.

Besides his hijacking of Tony Stark’s body and the subsequent changes made to it, Ultron-19 was able to hack into the world’s supply of nuclear weapons and emit a globalwide EMP, while still being strong enough to physically contend with heavy hitters such as the Sentry, Wonder Man and Ares. Even after losing control of his new body, which was accomplished by Ant-Man using a Commodore 64 to transmit a virus that Ultron could not reliably counter due to the technology being so outdated by his standards, he still managed to survive by uploading himself into a newer body before any lasting damage could be done.

Ultron-20

While wandering the galaxy, this body of Ultron’s interfaced with the techno organic race known as the Phalanx through Ultron’s own incredible will-power. This Ultron is one of the biggest threats the universe has ever known considering it managed to completely enslave one of the most powerful races in history - the Kree - with ease through an airborne virus. He became such a grave enough threat that an alliance of cosmic heroes, which included the Nova Corps and the Guardians of the Galaxy, was formed in order to stop Ultron and his Phalanx Army.

Age of Ultron

(No relation to the first Avengers sequel.)

In one possible future brought about after Ultron’s unsuccessful coup of the solar system, he returned to Earth and managed to conquer Earth in its entirety. The end result is a dystopian society where Ultron Sentinels roam the streets, punishing any rebels and sweeping the last remnants of whatever superheroes remained from his initial mass purge. By this point, the survivors are barely able to muster any meaningful offence against Ultron as his Sentinels have been fully upgraded to being on par with any of his primary bodies.

Wolverine took it upon himself to prevent this future from coming to pass by using a time platform created by Doctor Doom to travel back in time and assassinate Ant-Man before Ultron is born. While this specific form of Ultron has no major feats to call his own by comparison, the fact that even mere sentries can pose a mortal threat should speak to the influence and power he must possible have by this point in time.

Final Form

During the Heroic Age event, a small group of Avengers learn of a war waged in the future between Kang the Conqueror and a version of Ultron who has managed to successfully take over the world following his failure to assimilate the Kree Empire during Annihilation: Conquest - while this does share some similarities to the Age of Ultron storyline above, this has not been fully confirmed by any known source. They learn that this war has dire consequences: Kang has repeatedly built armies of various heroes and villains from different time periods to defeat Ultron, only to fall due to his rival finally being at the peak of his power. His subsequent time travelling to continue amassing more armies has led to the space-time continuum becoming even more fragile, requiring the Avengers to intervene lest reality itself is reduced to nothingness.

Aside from being as tall as a skyscraper, Final Ultron boasts most of the standard tools his normal counterpart should have save for being infinitely stronger than before. He has managed to repeatedly beat many of the most powerful individuals in the Marvel universe at once without breaking a sweat, having become so unstoppable that Kang was seemingly destined to lose against him no matter what he did. This version of Ultron was only stopped when the time-travelling Avengers convinced him to commit suicide and appease Kang to restore the time stream back to normal, lest the latter’s continued time jumps and summoning destroyed it.

Ultron Pym

In the Rage of Ultron storyline, Ultron was merged with Hank Pym after a botched attempt to stop him by the Vision forced the two to fuse together. While the two were originally of separate minds, they eventually became one complete being, now in-sync thanks to Ultron’s hatred of humanity fueling the already insecure personality Hank had.

As per the fusion, Ultron is now partly human, but still retains much of his original Adamantium shell that can surround his body. He also shares many of Hank’s powers as Ant-Man, including the ability to become gigantic or shrink to a subatomic level. Most importantly, Ultron can continue to infect any mechanical or organic being with the Ultron Virus, making any victims extensions of his will and adding them to his ever-growing hive mind.

Sigma

Manifested Sigma Virus

Mega Man X2 revealed that Sigma could physically manifest himself without a body of his own by way of the Sigma Virus, appearing as a floating head capable of summoning enemies. He can attack with lasers fired from his eyes, teleport around the area, and can even try to possess nearby technology, like when he tried to do the same to X in X3 only to be foiled by a vaccine meant to counter the virus.

Enough heavy-duty firepower can be used to destroy Sigma in events such as these, although it is not enough to kill him for good, as he can always appear in another body to repeat the process. As stated above, it took the creation of a specialized anti-virus long after the X series had ended to stop the Sigma Virus for good, so brute force is only a temporary measure at best.

Wolf Sigma

Sigma’s final form in the original Mega Man X, its remake and the Mega Man X Manga (in that version Sigma’s final form is as tall and big as a large building). This form can attack with its claws that are floating beside the main body (which can also shoot out electricity), shoot out orbs of electricity, and breathe fire. Also in the X remake, it has a new move in the form of shoulder pads that can shoot down laser beams. It has a weak point on its head.

Neo Sigma

This was a body that was built for Sigma by the X Hunters. In terms of main attacks, Sigma will usually use those claws to slice, but he can also teleport as well as fire six energy balls. When he is down to half of his health, he will gain a new attack in the form of an electricity wall, though this is likely just a fight mechanic and he should reasonably be able to use this attack whenever.

Kaiser Sigma

A very large and armored body that Sigma uses in Mega Man X3. It is capable of firing out homing missiles, bombs, a giant laser from the cannons in Sigma’s Shoulders and it is also capable of flight thanks to its jet boosters. While it is well-protected, a strong enough blow is able to sufficiently damage or potentially destroy it as shown in the Mega Man X Manga.

Gunner Sigma

One of Sigma’s final forms in Megaman X4, it’s basically a cyborg body with a large gun. It can shoot large beams and teleport, and some aid in the form of head mechs called Mini-Bodies. The red one shoots fireballs, the blue one sprays a damaging icy mist and the yellow one shoots electric balls. All three also have spikes on their heads.

Earth Sigma

What the fu-... Um, Sigma’s other form in Megaman X4, This form is able to create wind projectiles and a wall of spikes. It is also able to suck in objects and then spit them out. This form does have benefits but its stationary nature is one of its biggest weaknesses.

Sigma Head

Sigma’s form at the beginning of Mega Man X5. It attacks by sending out powerful energy spheres from its eyes and mouth, or by just ramming into its opponent. It can also teleport and fire large energy beams from its mouth, though it’s vulnerable to attacks afterward as its weak point, the cannon in its mouth, is exposed. However, as this form’s purpose was to lose to X and Zero to spread the Sigma virus across the world, it is unlikely it will serve much use here.

Psycho Sigma

Following his defeat in Mega Man X4, Sigma began a “partnership” of sorts with an old man who had built quite a few robots in lifetime and hated X just as much as Sigma did, and this man must’ve been like Zero’s own father. Wonder who that could be. While secretly orchestrating the hijacking of the Eurasia space colony - later known as the Earth Crisis, he upgraded himself with a body that he credits this old man with for its creation - a leaner form outfitted with wings for flight capabilities dubbed Psycho Sigma.

Alternatively known as Gamma Sigma, he fights akin to his base form from the original Mega Man X, albeit without the use of his beam sword; most of his attacks are now energy-based swipes and projectiles emitted from his hands.

Final Sigma W

This giant body was used in Mega Man X5. In terms of combat it is able to shoot out electroballs from its eyes, as well as punch using two giant spiked fists. These hands are also able to shoot out electricity from its fingertips and summon large energy cubs in order to crush his adversaries. Sigma can also become intangible in this form.

Half Completed Sigma

This form of Sigma was only half-completed (meaning Sigma’s not at his full power). In this form, he is physically slower and weaker and really only able to do a couple of things. He can create a circular ball of energy that can be easily deflected by buster shots. He can fire energy balls from his forehead, as well as fire off crescent blasts of energy.

Hell Sigma

Used in Mega Man X6, this giant mechanical skeleton of Sigma is able to fire out a giant green laser which can be warped across the screen to catch X off guard. He can also create green heads who have been modeled after himself. These heads are able to fly as well as shoot energy attacks and transform into objects. His final attack in this form is shooting out giant dark energy balls.

The Professor

The body Sigma has in Mega Man X7. While in his Professor body, Sigma is able to fire off shots from his rifle which can be split into two guns to fire off rapid fire shots, and he can protect himself from attacks by using a shield. He is also able to teleport as well as fly in the air.

Colossus Sigma

This is Sigma’s final form in Mega Man X7 and it is Sigma’s largest body by far, easily able to dwarf X. In terms of attacks, it is able to summon a giant ball of green energy, shoot fireballs from his head, fire off many yellow projectiles that home onto targets and shoot a giant laser from his stomach. He can also use physical attacks and teleport.

Copy Sigma

Sigma’s very last form, we swear. In Mega Man X8, Copy Sigma is able to teleport, fire off rings of blue energy, a laser that creates fire which burns anything that it hits. He can also enter a powered-up state that turns his core from green to red. This gives him a significant defense boost meaning he will be able take more punishment.

It is worth noting that this technically isn’t Sigma, but rather a New Generation Reploid infected with the Sigma Virus and using its shapeshifting abilities to copy his appearance and powers.

Ultron

Overall

• Once managed to hack into Iron Man’s suit by abusing his connection to the Extremis Virus and possess him to create Ultron-19.
• In one possible future depicted in the Age of Ultron crossover event, he successfully took over the world, forcing the surviving superheroes into hiding and unable to muster any successful counterattack. Only Wolverine and Invisible Woman travelling back in time to interact with Hank Pym pre-Ultron prevented this from coming to pass. (Never mind Logan creating another horrible future by choosing to kill Hank first before realizing that talking was probably the more sane option.)
• In Ultron Unlimited, he wiped out the population of a country called Slorenia, converting their corpses into zombie-like cyborgs.
• Subjected the entire Kree galaxy to his rule with Phalanx in Annihilation: Conquest.
• One alternate incarnation depicted in the Ultron Forever miniseries managed to defeat the Avengers and subject both Earth and Asgard to his rule, later killing Odin and becoming the All-Father in his stead.
• Managed to temporarily possess Adam Warlock.
• Infected the Eternal inhabitants of the planet Titan with the Ultron Virus.

Weaknesses

Ultron

Ultron’s desire to achieve greatness comes with the all too famous weakness beings like him are often attributed with: sheer arrogance. His many defeats tend to be attributed not to brute force or other contests of strength, but because of his inexplicable desire to boast of his superiority and thus leave himself open to plans he fails to account for in spite of his massive intellect. Case in point: he once thought that challenging Galactus to a fight was a good idea.

Despite covering himself in arguably the strongest metal in the Marvel universe, his Adamantium frame does have a few drawbacks. Antarctic Vibranium weapons can cut through his body due to its anti-metal properties, and smaller, less visible parts of his body are often comprised of weaker materials which can be targeted to dismantle him.

If his opponents also possess enough brute strength akin to the likes of the Hulk or Thor, being hurt enough by such attacks can weaken and bypass his force fields, allowing them to damage Ultron’s internal systems which are much more vulnerable and sensitive than his exterior and can result in fatal shutdowns. The same effect can be achieved by other characters who have very specific means to get past the Adamantium armor; for example, Scarlet Witch can use her magic to directly attack Ultron’s insides while the Human Torch was able to emit flames equal to a supernova, resulting in more internal damage that Ultron could not survive.

Sigma

Sigma may have the strength to pose a serious threat to the likes of X, Zero and Axl, but he has never been able to decisively defeat any of them since becoming a Maverick. Furthermore, he’s very lacking in terms of direct feats, and is heavily reliant on scaling to them for most of his stats. His repeated losses certainly have not helped his mental state, which has only continued to seemingly deteriorate with every failed encounter.

While this could easily be chalked up to gameplay as this has seemingly no basis in actual Mega Man lore, it is rather telling that almost every one of Sigma’s forms is weak to specific weapons or techniques his rivals obtain from defeating other Mavericks, resulting in him taking more damage if hit by them than normal.

The Sigma Virus is also not a sacred be-all, end-all combat option, as any Reploid who is insane and unstable to begin with is not as susceptible to its effects; thus it’s unlikely that Sigma could influence or exert control over them. The Virus itself can physically manifest as a giant version of Sigma’s head to attack foes, but can be temporarily dispelled with enough brute force. Sigma can also be considered “dead” if he has nothing to infect and thus possess. Eventually, antibodies created from Zero’s genetic code were used to develop the Mother Elf years after the Mega Man X series finished, which X later used to fully counteract the Sigma Virus and thus wipe him out for good.

Summary

Ultron

Advantages:

• Stronger
• Immensely the fastest of the two
• Adamantium body might be too durable for Sigma to properly damage, let alone destroy or reliably bypass

• Has the potential to corrupt and override the Sigma Virus, based on the Ultron Virus’ effectiveness and larger scale
• Summoning Ultron Drones to assist him gives him the edge in crowd control

• Was in Project X Zone 2. (Recommending these games will never end.)

• If Archie Sigma gets used it could potentially get him the win (which it likely won’t, see last episode)

Disadvantages:

• Unlikely able to penetrate Ultron’s Adamantium armor
• Weaker
• Nowhere near as fast
• Both he and his series are currently dead. (We joke about this, but this actually does impact how well Sigma performs here.)
• Ultron’s prior experience with viruses could allow him to resist the Sigma Virus’ effects
• Has yet to contend with anything on par with the Ultron Virus, which has been shown to be far more potent than his own
• Even with Velguarder’s assistance, Ultron Drones could be used to outnumber him
• Ultron’s energy absorption could really hurt him

Fight Track Name Prediction: Robot Riot (I’m going super old school here)

tfw you see sonic the hedgehog get fucking obliterated twice in three weeks. Both because of Nintendo. Streak was nice while it lasted though, and he died trying to save Pikachu.

Now onto a match that I think is pretty cool. And by that I mean “I enjoyed Ultron in the movie because I’m a fucking normie who doesn’t read comics also I really like Mega Man X and Sigma is a cool bad guy too”.

So as usual, who am I rooting for? Sigma. Who do I think wins? Not him.

Yeah. Last year may have been my shining season, but I got some high tier favorites taking lots of L’s this time around, and this is another addition to that pile. And as far as I’m concerned, there really isn’t much to explain here. Sigma is good. Ultron is just better in basically every way.

Neither of them really get much in a ways of direct feats and you wind up scaling them a ton, and as much as I like where X and Zero are at, Ultron is from Comicland, so he goes way further along than that, being one of the Big Bads to the Avengers and their big names Hulk and Thor. Sigma is made of some metal stuff, Ultron is made of that adamantium stuff that Wolverine’s bones and Captain America’s shield is built out of. A.K.A better metal. Sigma’s got a couple of big forms, Ultron has an entire army of himself to call up and attack at once. And keep in mind that this dude usually fails to beat one blue bot who is way weaker than what all those Ultrons are packing.

Sigma’s got his virus though, right? Yeah, but it’s not nearly enough. Even assuming he could infect Ultron with the Maverick Virus, which he probably can’t since Ultron has whatever the comics equivalent of McAfree Virus Protection or in other words just a lot of experience in not getting hacked, Ultron can just do the same thing faster and better. I mean, the entire reason Sigma went evil in the first place was because of a computer virus, and I haven’t come across anything to suggest he’s improved his firewalls since then.

Once the metal has been scrapped, they’ll have to start calling him Omega, because Sigma is gonna be coming dead last in this match.

I don’t know about you folk…

...but I for one welcome our new botanical overlord, Steve the Piranha Plant.

Let me just say that seeing my name in DB’s credits is worth the price of seeing Sonic die and remembering the age old adept of “don’t listen to your emotions or you will get fucked hard.”

Anyway, welcome to “ROBOTS HAVE TAKEN OVER THE WORLD”: the fight.

Oh, right. Ummm…

OUR WORLD.

It’s taken 101 episodes, but we finally got ourselves a Marvel vs. Capcom match, and holy shit has it been long overdue. As any sane-minded individual with eyes unclouded by hate can attest to, positive results will be yielded with any combination of the two, and at the very least, we’re getting two characters who got out of MVCI relatively intact and well for themselves… I mean, barring the part where their fusion dance goes awry and they get bodied by Captain Marvel and Dante after 2 hours of the weirdest fanfiction ever officially written. I digress; on to the actual match. Who’s likely to come out on top here?

Well, there you have it! Ultron wins! Tip your waitresses while he juggles Sigma with command grabs and drone combos! Good night!

Also, can we just appreciate the fact that we aren’t feeding Ultron to Brainiac because Sigma and the Capcom rivalry is just too much quality to not pass up? Being the closer fight helps. A lot. It’s straightforward in most respects but there’s enough meat in this discussion that we could afford a few in-depth examinations to find out why the clear-cut winner of this fight should take it. (Yes, there’s a sort of obvious winner, but I’ll get into who that is much later.)

Or… give me a second…

Nah, fuck it. Might as well let the cat out of the bag: Ultron is winning this.

You can thank him being around for roughly half a century with mounds of recurring material from the comics alone whereas Sigma’s only really gotten 8 games or so to his name - quick reminder that Mega Man X8 was released in 2004, so if anyone is reading this at Capcom: you’ve just released Mega Man 11 and it’s been doing wonders so far, so get back to more of this and maybe Legends 3, please and thank you. Legacy Collections are fine and really good shit, but for real though where’s X9 at?

It isn’t just the sheer amount of material that Ultron has by itself which makes his win easier to justify, but also what’s in them: regardless if we had to compare Sigma to him via feats, scaling, arsenals and hax, Ultron simply has this won by having enough to take a lead in most stats and cut off any avenue Sigma could take to win this. Part of it is also due to the latter’s lack of direct feats, which means that he is heavily more reliant on scaling than Ultron is; issue here is that not only Ultron has him beat if we strictly had to compare them based on accomplishments with no scaling to other characters, but adding scaling to the mix still doesn’t help Sigma enough to gain any decisive edge in the debate. This is by no means calling Sigma weak; it’s just that he’s decisively beat in a lot of respects here despite being a very formidable fighter himself.

With regards to stats, the most obvious advantage Ultron has is with regards to his durability for reasons that should be obvious if you are even the tiniest bit remotely familiar with who Wolverine is. Barring weapons specifically designed to destroy highly tough alloys like it, Adamantium is tough to crack even by the standards of many Marvel god tiers like Thor, Adam Warlock, Sentry, Hulk and the rest, and with the lack of a similar substance to compare it to in the Mega Man universe, Sigma isn’t getting past it any time soon. Even worse for him is his lack of any specially made anti-metal weaponry to bypass it and attack Ultron’s internal systems.

Although you could make the argument that Ultron and Sigma should roughly be around the same levels of speed and destructive capability, the Adamantium frame is just too much for Sigma to get past, and he himself lacks any broken-tier level armor similar to it that could protect him in turn from Ultron’s attacks. The operative word there is “although”; as most arguments for those areas still benefit Ultron more than Sigma due to again, scaling and feats not really being in his favor.

Here’s a breakdown: by scaling, Sigma should hover around being Multi-Solar System by scaling to X and Zero, who he certainly compares to based on their many encounters with each other. They, along with Axl, managed to defeat Lumine in Mega Man X8 to achieve this level; said baddie’s star-destroying Paradise Lost attack is the main reason why they reach that. However, seeing as Lumine himself seemingly trumps Sigma in a lot of regards, scaling this way could be iffy, but let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and say that this should be legit.

Ultron tops all of that by not only having a lot of direct feats to begin with, but also has a wider variety of opponents that he’s fought and beaten which have scaling to even more broken feats of their own. Take your pick: you have Thor (threw Jormungandr off Earth), the Hulk (World Breaker form can do what the name says), Sentry (has the power of a million exploding suns), among others, and that’s without getting into the fact that he’s managed to be a galactic-level threat on multiple occasions, something Sigma can’t lay claim to.

(To further prove this point, rewatch Metal Sonic vs. Zero and Thor vs. Wonder Woman. The values they gave Thor are way above Zero’s, and both sides here scale to those two.)

What about the different boss forms and the Sigma Virus? First off, Sigma’s transformations aren’t really going to factor into the result much. They can fight differently enough from each other that you could make the case he’d be able to tap into a wider pool of moves, but as far as we know, they don’t really give him any quantifiable upgrades which translate to stats, feats or anything of the sort, or at least to the extent a lot of Ultron’s crazier forms have. (Just want to point out that I’m not remotely considering bringing his higher-end future forms in just yet because that’s all future canon which can be a bit dubious to deal with. We’ll get back to this.)

That ties into the Sigma Virus, which by all accounts should be the one trick up his sleeve if he hopes to win this. Sigma’s been able to infect tons of Mavericks with it, so what’s stopping him from doing the same to Ultron? Well, Ultron has a much better track record in dealing with viruses that should’ve killed him but didn’t, so shrugging off Sigma is one option - one which ties into a later point. Any other side effects of whatever remains from the original Maverick Virus don’t play into the outcome much as well; either Ultron becomes even more bloodlusted and will probably aim to kill Sigma faster, or he loses all the homicidal tendencies he’d normally have, which in and of itself is not going to stop him from beating Sigma up.

Also, quick reminder that part of Ultron’s kit is that he absorbs energy, which is going to be problematic. Probably has something to do with the fact that the near-entirety of Sigma’s fighting style is reliant on energy attacks, so he’ll really need to lay into the brute force as much as he can to do any lasting damage.

By far the biggest counter to the Sigma Virus is that Ultron’s basically been able to replicate the same stuff but on a scale Sigma’s never been able to tap into. Let’s put it this way: Sigma at his best managed to spread out his virus on a planetary scale, and that’s still being generous considering that the entire planet isn’t crawling to the brim with Mavericks. Ultron tops that by conquering an entire galaxy within hours, and he did that by forcibly assimilating himself into a form of technology which would’ve done the same to him if not for his strong level of willpower.

Take into account further that Sigma’s own track record with fighting counters to his virus is a lot worse in comparison and - unlike the Ultron Virus - the Sigma Virus can be wiped out with brute force, and we’re just digging his grave in even deeper. Even if you went into this match thinking that Sigma and Ultron can summon newer bodies out of nowhere to continue fighting, the immense stat advantage Ultron possesses still carries over through most of these encounters, and the Ultron Virus should be enough to deal with Sigma’s own and wipe him out for a decisive enough victory.

Also, in the event most of y’all are probably going to complain about how we don’t have Sigma from Worlds Unite in this despite the preface we put near the top of the blog explaining our consistency with previous blogs and all that jazz, consider that in the interest of fairness, we’d have to give Ultron his own broken alternate universe transformations if Sigma gets Archie feats. Any reservations about using stuff like Final Ultron or even the one version where he killed Odin and took the Odinforce for himself all go out the window, and although Sigma’s odds increase in this scenario, it still wouldn’t be enough to put Ultron down for good.

Anyway, that’ll about do it. Anything Sigma can do, Ultron can do better. (...there was a joke here about mixing the word “Sigma” with “match” but I can’t bring myself to do it.)

Well...okay then. Being honest, i thought that if DEATH BATTLE were ever going to do a matchup - it would end up being Ultron vs Brainiac. Not that i am complaining though since i like this matchup and at the end of the day think it’s a lot more thematic then Ultron vs Brainiac thought that fight may be debatable more closer due to a number of reasons. I do still like this matchup and i do have quite a bit to say on it in terms of who the winner would be so strap in folks and let’s talk a Robot War…

Not that type of Robot Wars...though that is honestly a pretty great tv series, hmmm…….Anyway onto this fight.

In terms of the every important stats - the two are actually responsibly close - i am pretty sure you have certain feat from Mega Man X8 from one of the main villain of Mega Man X8 - Lumiere that put the likes of X,Zero at Solar System Level. Well Sigma also scales that feat since he compared to those three characters which puts his Destructive Capability,Durability at Solar System Level. What about Ultron - surely he’s not Solar System Level - well yeah he has. He has displayed solar system level feats as well as tanked characters from Solar System Level characters such as Hulk and most especially Thor. So in terms of their destructive capability and durability in terms of raw stats - the two are pretty comparable. Even in the speed category both have Massively Faster than Light Speed. So you may be asking - if they have comparable stats then surely this fight must be a stalemate? Well..

Here’s the thing with this fight - while they may have somewhat “similar” stats - Ultron have several key advantages that will ultimately tip the scales in his favour.

The first advantage that Ultron is his Molecular Rearranger and his Adamantium Body which makes it extremely difficult to kill him with physical force alone. Basically when Ultron takes a hit - he can repair himself in a manner of seconds and he won’t be taking that much damage considering that Amandium can tank attacks from Thor, Sentry, Hulk - beings capable of destroying planets and solar system. Ultron’s sheer indestructibility may honesty be one of his greatest strengths and he’s taken some ridiculous damage like Thor’s Thunder and has remained fine. It’s not impossible but highly unlikely that Sigma would be able to take Ultron down through physical force alone makes to that Adamantium Body. Unfortunately for Sigma - he does not have the same indestructibility - both in the Mega Man X Video Games and the Manga that Sigma can very easily be taken down through brute force alone. For example - in the Manga - Mega Man X was able to destroy Sigma through just punching him really hard and this is one of Sigma’s stronger bodies in the form of Kaiser Sigma. Sigma also an weaknesses to extreme heat as shown in the manga when Sigma’s Wolf Body is not able to handle atmospheric re-entry and was killed because of it. Ultron has not only survived heat’s of that magnitude but far greater.

Now i know what you may be asking - what about their weapons and arenels? Surely Sigma has some weapons that could change the playing field in Sigma’s favor. Well no, due to the limit amount of appearances Sigma has had - his arensel is not vast compared to Ultron. While he does have a wider arsenal - wider doesn’t mean better. None of Sigma’s weapons would be able to completely cut through Ultron’s body. Even the energy based one as Ultron has shown being able to tank energy based attacks from the likes of Iron Man and it barely even annoyed him. Honestly, the best weapon Sigma has with dealing with Ultron would be the Boomerang Shield because it can block Ultron’s attacks and even then that is simply delaying the inevitable as eventually Ultron will disarm and destroy Ultron.

There’s also the fact that Ultron always has several drones he can call onto once that are able to easily bum rush Sigma even if Sigma has his pet dog by his side. Eventually Sigma will take too much damage from all the Ultron bodies and will go.

So Sigma can’t destroy Ultron and Ultron has the numbers advantage to overwhelm Sigma (and honestly has shown better Destructive Capability Feats). So what can Sigma possibly do in order to beat Sigma. One of the most likely possible answers to that question would be the Sigma Virus.I have seen people argue that the Sigma Virus could very easily hack into Ultron and once Sigma’s Virus gets into Ultron’s systems it’s all over right? Well..Nope.

Think about it - if Ultron could be so easily hacked. Wouldn’t Ultron be completely useless as a villain - since all the Avengers would need to do is simply hack into him and he would be done. The thing is - they can’t. Ultron has specifically designed defenses towards hacking and viruses. Ultron has upgraded his body to the point that he simply can’t get hacked by other robots and viruses. Sigma on the very hand can very much get hacked - while he may have some resistance to it thanks to the Sigma Virus - Ultron’s Virus has shown to be able to hack into extremely complex machinery/robots with fair ease. If this fight came to Virus vs Virus then i would definitely see Ultron coming out on top with that category.

So Sigma can’t defeat him physically, he can’t hack into him - so what can Sigma do..well being honest nothing. As this fight comes on Sigma will be taking more and more physical damage from Ultron without any great means of repairing that damage while Ultron will likely be constantly repairing any damage that Sigma inflicts (though he won’t inflict much makes to Ultron’s Amanditum Body). Then eventually Ultron destroys Sigma through physical force or takes him over and even if that happens and Sigma tries to take over Ultron’s body - it won’t work and Ultron then likely completely assimilates or destroys the Virus. This is by far the most likely scenario i can see for this matchup. While both do have comparable stats - Ultron’s key advantages are just too big for Sigma to compare. Looks like in this Robot War, Ultron will truly be the King Roboto.

Fight Track Name: Robot Rumble (Also very last minute)

Dang it Sonic. You got my hopes up for a while just to go and die on me?! sigh I guess after how well I’ve been doing with my preferred characters winning so far, including Optimus Prime, my favorite character ever, I guess I had to eat a pretty big loss at some point.

Also SUPER glad it’s not Ultron VS Brainiac by the way.

Anyway, I’ll try to make this brief.

If that and how low I am on this verdict section wasn’t obvious, I think Ultron’s got this in the bag.

Adamantium body that Thor can’t break through? Check

Molecular reconfiguration in case he does somehow get damaged? Check

Resistance to viruses? Check

Thor scaling giving him quadrillion-quintillion times FTL speeds? Check

His own hacking methods? Check

There you have it. It doesn’t matter who holds the strength advantage this time. Sigma could be stronger than Ultron by lightyears (he’s not, but bear with me), and it still wouldn’t matter. If he can’t bust through Ultron’s body, or permanently destroy it even if he could scratch it, then he’s not getting through Ultron by raw power alone.

Let’s also not forget that this is assuming Sigma could actually hit Ultron in the first place, and let’s be honest, he can’t. Sigma may be over millions of times FTL, but Ultron’s in the quadrillions range. Possibly even quintillions. Even assuming it’s 1 million VS 1 quadrillion, Ultron would still be over 1 billion times faster than Sigma, rendering him a statue compared to Ultron.

Considering the Sigma Virus is the only hope Sigma has here, he’s straight up screwed. Not only does he still lose the physical department, but Ultron has resisted viruses before, and could possibly even hack them out of existence. So Sigma can try all he wants to with that virus, it’s not gonna do squat against Ultron.

So, considering Ultron’s insane speed advantage, incredibly durable body, crazy reconfiguration, and hacking skills, what’s left for Sigma that can take down Ultron? The answer: Nothing really. I mean, he does have a crazy amount of weapons and alternate forms, so maybe he can screw with Ultron for a bit, but that would basically be delaying the inevitable. Besides, if it was really that big of an issue, Ultron can simply summon his drones to deal with that noise.

Oh yeah, did I mention that? Ultron has drones that work similarly to him. So Sigma’s not fighting one Ultron, he’s fighting several. And considering one Ultron can take him out in the blink of an eye, several Ultrons is just overkill.

Safe to say, Sigma’s pretty screwed here. It’s not the biggest stomp of the season, but it’s pretty clear cut once you look deeper into it.

Before I start breaking down who I believe is going to win the fight--- I would like to thank the G1 Prediction Blog team for allowing me another opportunity to be a guest for this battle after Nightwing and Daredevil. Without further ado, let’s get on with it.  

Strength/Destructive Capacity: When it comes to strength/destructive capacity--- Both have consistently taken on and traded blows with Solar System Level-Multi-Solar System Level guys. Ultron’s scaling to Thor alone puts his DC at 6 KiloFoe which by OBD standards is MSS+ Level, but by VBW standards it would just be regular SS Level, it’s hardly an outlier because besides fighting Thor on a regular basis, Ultron has gone toe toe with the likes of Hulk and Sentry as well, making his scaling to Thor even more warranted. Sigma on the other other hand, I highly doubt he can scale to Lumine’s feat (which came out at 1.2 KiloFoe) because by this time, he is already dead and scaling a dead character to a high end feat is an absolute no no, but he does however scale to the Mega Man ZX cast’s 317 FOE feat which is MSS Level according to Proto’s original calc. Sadly however with this taken into account and even if you decide to scale Sigma to the Lumine feat, it’s still not enough for him to scratch Ultron’s Adamantium body. So I have to give the Strength/Destructive Capacity advantage to Ultron.

Speed: When it comes to speed--- Ultron has consistently kept up with Thor and Iron Man. Thor is shown to be capable of traveling across universes and to Asgard in a matter of seconds without the aid of the Bifrost Bridge which came out at 48 Quadrillion Times FTL-11.7 Quintillion Times FTL. Meanwhile Iron Man has constantly been able to keep up with FTL-MFTL+ beings on multiple occasions, flew across multiple solar systems with Thor in just a few minutes during their search for Thanos, can react and process information in a picoseconds, and outraced a black hole… Yeah Ultron is one fast mofo just from being able to keep up with Thor and Iron Man alone. But what about Sigma? Surely he has some speed feat that allows him to contend with Ultron right?... Well for starters he’s been able to keep up with X, Zero, Axl who can dodge lasers and lightning, outrun black holes, and are superior to Classic Mega Man who is fast enough to dodge attacks from Duo's Meteor Form and navigated Space Rush across the asteroid belt which was calced to 250x FTL. Along with that, Axl is capable of firing shots rapidly so quickly that lasers appeared to be frozen which came out at 4.6 Million Times FTL and Sigma constantly keeps up with and beats Axl just as much as he did to X and Zero. Unfortunately once again, it ain’t enough eclipse Ultron from having the speed advantage over Sigma and Ultron’s own direct speed feat where his virus was able to infect the entire Phalanx race in a matter of seconds is far more impressive. So I give this category to Ultron again.

Durability: This category is no contest--- even if you did further deeper research on the two of them, it is pretty clear that majority of Ultron’s durability feats massively eclipses Sigma’s as his Adamantium body is durable enough to tank attacks from Planet Level to Cosmic Level beings, even attacks from Galaxy Level to Universe Level beings. It would require high levels of reality warping, matter manipulation or some of kind of hax that could attack Ultron’s inner circuits in the inside, neither of which Sigma has access to. Thus I give this category to Ultron.

Equipment:  Both Ultron and Sigma carry a huge plethora of weapons in their arsenals, giving them a multitude of options to deal with a variety of opponents. And should Ultron need more assistant to help overpower his opponents, he can call on his army of Ultron drones to do the job for him. Followed by that Ultron has a molecular rearranger which allow into morph his body into anything he desires or repair his body from virtually any damage he suffered, in addition this can also prevent him from ever being hacked or infected. However I believe Sigma has a wider arsenal of weapons as opposed to Ultron’s arsenal is mostly just energy beams and so on. While it’s not exactly gonna be a big factor, but it helps giving Sigma much more to work with in battle.  

Powers/Abilities: Another factor to consider in this fight is their haxes… Hax can be a powerful tool in a combatant’s arsenal that can allow them to heavily turn the tides of battle in their favor--- Ultron with his Telepathy, Energy Absorption, and Disintegration Beams vs Sigma with his Soul Manipulation, Mind Manipulation, Invisibility, and Intangibility. Suffice to say, neither of Sigma’s haxes are gonna be entirely useful against Ultron because first foremost, Ultron is a machine, a living virus he does not require a soul to function. Mind Manipulation isn’t gonna do jack because of Ultron’s high level of Telepathy and resistance to Telepathy so if anything Ultron is far more likely to mind screw Sigma than Sigma mind screwing him. Invisibility could potentially be helpful for remaining invisible, but it could only do so much for you if your opponent already has experience dealing with and whose systems can detect invisible opponents. Lastly it is possible that Sigma could attempt to become intangible to try and attack Ultron from the inside, but the problem for Sigma even trying to defeat Ultron this way is the fact that he has a counter for this. Vision has tried this method on him more than once, but since then Ultron has installed a defense mechanism into his body which he can activate at will to shock his attacker should an intangibility user attempt to utilize such a method against him. Energy Absorption and Disingrations Beams are really what gonna allow Ultron to secure his win against Sigma. Most of Sigma’s weapons and attacks are energy-based, he’d be doing nothing, but fuel Ultron with plenty of energy to keep on fighting a battle of attrition and plus it’s like Ultron could grab a hold of Sigma then completely drain him of all his powers and energy much like he did to Iron Man. Plus ever since Doctor Doom got a hold of Ultron, he installed a plethora of new upgrades into his systems, making him a far more terrifying foe to go up against as the Ruler of Latveria made a modification to his Energy Beams which allow Ultron to separate atom particles, thus able to bypass most of his opponent’s durabilities. This was demonstrated when he completely disintgrated Kang the Conqueror on a molecular level with one single Energy Blast. So yeah I have to give Ultron the edge in this category as well as his haxes appear to be far more reliable than Sigma in this case.                 

Skills/Experience: While Sigma has been an accomplished commander, battled many powerful reploids, and remained a massive threat to X, Zero, and Axl over the years. Ultron throughout the years has not only fought against mere mortals, but also gods, aliens, and cosmic level beings. So at this point I do not think anything Sigma throws at Ultron is truly going to catch him off guard.

Closing Thoughts: Overall I don’t need to go much into detail as to who I believe will be the winner of this fight… I am going to place my bet that Ultron will infect Sigma due to the latter boasting superior physicality, haxes, experience, higher level of intelligence, and the Ultron Virus being more potent than anything that the Sigma Virus has displayed thus far.

K so I’m probably gonna make this shorter than my average verdicts but regardless this is a cool ass fight and Ultron vs Brainiac can fuck off.

So Ultron wins. It's no stomp but Ultron just does way more. Stats wise Sigma at best might be comparable in DC if you give him Lumine, but Ultron fights people around that tier if not higher. Speed wise Ultron definitely takes this with all the Marvel heralds for lack of a better word being bullshitingly faster than anything in MMX. Durability is especially an issue for Sigma since its fucking Adamantium which he’s not getting through at all. Hax wise Sigma virus doesn’t mean shit against all the hacking feats Ultron has done especially against the Phalanx.

So yeah Ultron wins.
