It’s no secret that while some people have to toil their way to a better life and work to their limits to achieve what they would want, those born into privilege needn’t have to lift a finger to get the same and more. A prestigious family name, estate, reputation and more are all at their disposal, and what they choose to do with that prestige will end up defining them when they try to find their place in the world. Such is the case with these two heroines, whose mastery over one of the deadliest elements in nature and the great spiritual power to support it have made them well-equipped to face the beasts who threaten mankind’s safety and overcome any odds:
Weiss Schnee, Team RWBY’s snowy white heiress-Huntress. Mitsuru Kirijo, the blue-blooded Shadow slayer from Persona 3. Both of these young women exude an aura of elegance and regal femininity befitting their stature as heiresses to their families’ prolific businesses, which they maintain even while in the heat of battle. With their swords and souls providing the simple yet deadly arsenals they possess they have helped protect their worlds alongside their trusted allies time and time again; in a matter of days, which one of these two imperious queens triumph when their blades and fates are set to cross for the first and last time?
And since this matchup features both RWBY and Persona…
A Heads Up from Ya Bois
Before we begin, we wanna address the elephant in the room: RWBY in Death Battle again. Last time that happened, Yang Xiao Long snapped the neck of one Tifa Lockhart, and it'd be an understatement to call that result controversial - not least of which was the idea that the fight had been rigged to appease Rooster Teeth despite the other girl being a million times stronger according to the majority of the VS debating community; we’d redirect you to prove why Yang VS Tifa is divisive/wrong, but that would be besides the point we want to make here.
Obviously, there are some concerns that Weiss could win for the same reasons and not on her own merits against Mitsuru’s, but we want to dissuade this unhealthy line of thought. This would do a disservice to those who genuinely want to know more about the maximum potential of these characters and how they would fare against each other in a fight. We believe that Death Battle now wants to reflect that more than ever given the changes the show has undergone since that fight, and we at the blog - guests and regulars alike - have to do the same as well.
I guess the tl;dr of this is “don’t automatically assume Weiss is going to win because of Rooster Teeth”. We trust that Weiss will be given the same odds and fair shot characters before her have gotten, and the same will be done for Mitsuru. If you find yourselves down in the comments section or even sharing this with others, please don’t spread the same tinfoil theory with others. We would much rather invite more discussion on the match-up itself and hearing counterarguments and other points we may have missed here.
Background
Weiss Schnee
As the heiress to the Schnee Dust Company - one of the biggest business conglomerates in Remnant, Weiss was raised to be the best of what she could be in many fields. While a talented singer, musician and fighter - part of which was thanks to her own proficiency in the family’s hereditary Semblance, her childhood was troubling despite what the importance of the Schnee name granted her. Witnessing the unraveling of her parents’ already fractured union and whatever remained of a normal home life for her with it as well as hearing how trusted family friends and employees have had their lives ruined by the White Fang extremist group inspired her eventual decision to restore the honor of her family name on her own terms.
In her mid-teens, Weiss opted to pursue the path of a Huntress, a hero who dedicated their lives to fighting the monsters called Grimm that plagued Remnant for reasons unknown. To further distance herself from her family, she chose to study in Vale’s Beacon Academy, where she would become teammates with the most unlikeliest of individuals: the hyperactive weapons nut Ruby Rose, her fight-happy older half sister Yang Xiao Long, and the brooding ex-White Fang member Blake Belladonna. While Weiss’s haughty attitude did her no favors in bonding with them initially, their shared adventures within and outside the confines of Beacon have made her realize that they were far more of a family than her own as the ones she could trust the most.
Team RWBY spent much of their first year together investigating various plans that threatened Vale’s safety, but none of them could have foreseen that chaos brought about by the mysterious Cinder Fall and her benefactor Salem before they ravaged Beacon down in a massive Grimm attack. Despite being forced to return home to Atlas, Weiss knew that her place lay alongside her sisters in seeking justice for what had happened, and uncovering the secrets behind the Salem’s centuries-old grudge towards mankind. No matter the foe or challenge that stands in her way, she is sure to face all of them and more with the support of her allies in hopes that she can reach her full potential as the heroine she wants to become.
Mitsuru Kirijo
The only child of Takeharu and Hanae Kirijo, Mitsuru was entrusted with the future of her family’s multinational trading company from the moment she was born. While she was gifted with the smarts of a natural honor student, her true destiny in protecting the integrity of the Kirijo Group came when she was brought into the Dark Hour - a hidden 25th hour of the day that houses Shadows, monsters born of mankind’s negative desires and emotions. When confronted with them during an expedition where she accompanied her father and several Kirijo Group personnel, she had awoken to her Persona, an avatar that acts as a manifestation of her inner self and the only source of power that can defeat a Shadow.
Takeharu soon told her how the Dark Hour was tied in to their family’s tainted history: her grandfather had hoped to harness the supernatural powers Shadows possessed, which led to the creation of the Dark Hour and the massive surge of Shadow activity it came with. With this knowledge in mind, Mitsuru had to adopt another role - that of a combatant who needed to harness a power few ordinary humans could possess to fight back monsters they could not. In her high school years, this led to her and the Kirijo Group sponsoring a group of Persona-using students called S.E.E.S.; alongside fellow founders Akihiko Sanada and Shinjiro Aragaki, they investigated the Dark Hour in hopes of finally finding a way to stop it.
In 2010, S.E.E.S. and their newest members - chief among them a blue-haired transfer student named Makoto Yuuki - managed to end the Dark Hour by defeating Nyx, the personification of Death itself and the being said to bring about the fall of humanity. Following her graduation from high school, Mitsuru’s university years saw her not just integrate herself more closely as a member of the social elite, but also led to the creation of the Shadow Operatives, a secret division within the Japanese government that continues to look into Shadow and Persona-related phenomenon throughout the country. For as long as it takes, she will continue to lay her life down and fight to uphold the honor of her family name.
Equipment
Weiss
Myrtenaster
In the world of Remnant, every huntsman and huntress has a signature weapon that are unique only to them. For Weiss, she has Myrtenaster, a multi action dust rapier. While it's not also a gun, this rapier does contain a variety of ammunition needed for Weiss to be combat ready. In terms of combat, Weiss can use Myrtenaster for melee and long range attacks. Myrtenaster is highly durable, and the rapier’s revolver-like chamber allows Weiss to use the different types of Dust loaded into it for combat.
Dust
What is her ammunition exactly? Dust. Remnant’s main source of energy used for a variety of purposes. Whether in crystal or powder forms, Dust has always been the tool humanity needed to combat the creatures of darkness known as the Grimm, along with powering their technology. It is triggered by the Aura of a user. Myrtenaster contains 6 slots in its revolving chamber, allowing Weiss to use up to 6 types of Dust. With Dust, Weiss can use different elements for a variety of combat techniques.
- Ice Dust: Light blue Dust that creates ice. With this type, Weiss can send out a line of ice crystals from the ground, create a wide set of ice crystals that can trap enemies, cover the ground in a slippery sheet of ice, leave a trail of ice crystals behind her as she rushes forward, make a dome of ice around herself for protection, release a wave of frozen energy around herself capable of freezing enemies over, let out a blast of frozen energy, propel herself through the air while attacking with frozen energy, create a slide of ice, surround herself with ice crystals to prevent enemies from getting close, form an icy mist that acts like a barrier, raise up an ice wall, create a set of ice crystals on the ground, freeze water, or give different effects to her Semblance.
- Fire Dust: Red Dust that creates fire. With this type, Weiss can imbue Myrtenaster to create a brief barrier when defending to parry attacks, blast out a line of flames, send out a fiery wave, create tiny flames to light things on fire, or give different effects to her Semblance.
- Lightning Dust: Yellow Dust that creates lightning. With this type, Weiss can imbue Myrtenaster to amplify the power of one of her strikes or give different effects to her Semblance.
- Wind Dust: Green Dust that creates wind. With this type, Weiss can create a whirlwind capable of matching sound-based attacks or give different effects to her Semblance.
- Earth Dust: White Dust that creates earth. With this type, Weiss can imbue Myrtenaster to amplify the power of one of her strikes or bring up chunks of earth to defend against attacks.
- Gravity Dust: Purple Dust that manipulates gravity. With this type, Weiss can give different effects to her Semblance.
- Hard-Light Dust: Cyan Dust that creates solidified light and is the rarest kind. With this type, Weiss can create a barrier, release a shock wave to launch enemies into the air, or give different effects to her Semblance.
Scroll
A Scroll is a holographic tablet that can be collapsed to be carried around more easily. It basically acts as a phone, and has many functions a phone normally would, such as calling, texting, and taking and sending photos. It also has other uses and tools, such as a means of identification, transfering and receiving files, being able to be used as a gaming controller, a flashlight, and more. Most of these functions would be useless in a fight, but it does show one important thing to Weiss. A Scroll can be viewed to see how much Aura a user and their allies have left by displaying life bars that represent them, which can help her decide what type of strategy she should perform next.
Mitsuru
One-Handed Swords/Rapiers
In Persona 3, Mitsuru specialises in one-handed swords while in FES she specializes in rapiers. These weapons are specifically designed by the Kirijo Group to fight Shadows, but they can also fight other Persona Users as well. Mitsuru’s Ultimate Weapons in Persona 3 FES/Portable are Kokuseki Senjin which gives her Ice Boost to amp up her ice based attacks and Snow Queen Whip which has the highest attack out of all of her rapiers (450) plus it gives +10 to all her stats.
Evoker
A gun but only effective if you put the bullet in your head and not the thing trying to kill you. So all in all, a really fucking useless gun. Oh wait, it can help her summon her Persona I guess.
We kid, but it’s true. The Evoker being shaped as a gun is meant to remind members of SEES of their mortality - the feeling that they can die at any point - and as such, it acts as the perfect medium for which Persona users - or at least those heavily affiliated with SEES and the Shadow Operatives - can summon their Personas.
Abilities
Weiss
Aura
Aura is the manifestation of one’s soul, which can be used in a variety of ways. Weiss, of course, is one of the many Huntsmen and Huntresses throughout Remnant capable of using it. The two main uses of Aura are to protect the body from harm and amplify the power of its user. These two effects also apply to any equipment the user may be using, as well as enhancing its abilities.
Other uses of Aura include enhanced senses, the ability to unlock other Auras, the healing of minor wounds, triggering Dust, even when it’s far away, and protection from extreme climate conditions. Finally, Aura can be projected in a more tangible form by using one’s Semblance. Aura coats the entire body, but it is not automatic, meaning the user must remain conscious to keep it up. It’s also not limitless and can run out, and different people have different amounts of Aura. Though, it can regenerate completely after a certain amount of time has passed.
Semblance
A Semblance is a manifestation of one’s personal power projected thanks to their Aura. Usually, it is unique to each person, but in Weiss’s case, her Semblance is hereditary in her family. Using her Semblance, she can create glyphs that can be used in many different ways and have varying sizes. On their own, they can accelerate things in any direction, be used as platforms to stand on or jump higher and farther at many different angles, launch things into the air, fire beams that chain enemies in place, soften landings, let her or others run up walls, block attacks, make her move forward faster when multiple are in a line, push things back, or lift and throw objects. She can also stab through them with Myrtenaster while remaining on them or move around already existing glyphs.
Weiss can also imbue her glyphs with Dust to give them different effects. With ice Dust, she can fire icy homing beams that explode upon contact, shards of ice, or chunks of ice, create a dome of ice capable of trapping enemies, coat things in ice, launch a sword of ice, create a fist of ice that grabs enemies before rolling around as a ball with them in it, freeze things, or call up a set of ice crystals. With fire Dust, she can launch homing fireballs or send out a fiery wave. With wind Dust, she can release a gust of wind to blow enemies back. With hard-light Dust, she can fire homing beams.
With lightning Dust, she can perform time dilation to speed up her actions drastically for a short period of time. This can also be granted to allies. Finally, with gravity Dust, she can launch things forward, manipulate the movement of things on top of her glyphs, repel physical attacks, push things away, lift things into the air, keep things stuck together, slow things falling down, bounce off her glyphs, or exert pulling forces, which are strong enough to let her keep her footing in even the most extreme conditions and versatile enough to let her pull herself away to dodge attacks.
Summoning
Potentially the most deadly technique Weiss can perform with her glyphs is summoning. This gives her the ability to create icy copies of foes she has previously defeated in battle that fight alongside her. Among the various enemies she has taken out, the ones she has summoned are a Boarbatusk, which can ram into enemies, ensnare weapons in its turks, or perform a spinning charge attack, a Queen Lancer, which can fly, shoot out sharp scales as projectiles, or launch its stinger many feet out, and an Arma Gigas, which fights using a giant sword or its fists.
Other enemies Weiss has defeated and theoretically should be capable of summoning include a Beowolf, which can swipe with its claws or lunge forward at enemies, a Creep, which can dig into the ground and rise back out to strike enemies from below or backflip to attack with its tail, an Ursa, which can swipe with its claws or slam the earth beneath it to cause a large rock to protrude from the ground, a Mutant Creep, which is a stronger Creep that also detonates itself when killed, a Mutant Beowolf, which is a stronger Beowolf that can also slam the earth beneath it to cause a line of green crystals to protrude from the ground, a Red Android, which can teleport or attack using a dual-sided glaive, a White Android, which can teleport or attack using a grenade launcher or a minigun, an Atlesian Knight-200, which fights using a rifle or built-in blades, an Atlesian Paladin-290, which can sense enemies with laser sights, fire powerful blasts or homing rockets, crush enemies with its feet, or deliver strong punches, a Lancer, which can fly, launch its stinger many feet out, or self-destruct, a Manticore, which can fly, tackle into things, swipe with its claws, grab and throw enemies, bite viciously, spit out fireballs, or sting with its tail, and an Apathy, which can scream to drain enemies’ wills to go on and attack with its claws.
Finally, Weiss can manipulate the things she summons in various ways. She can summon specific parts of whatever she’s calling upon, teleport them, or summon them at a different size than what they normally are, even being able to change an already existing summon’s size. And while Weiss usually commands them, a summon can also make its own decisions and actions, though she can sense where they are and knows what they’re doing. Out of all the allies she’s summoned, she has called upon an Arma Gigas the most for battle, followed by a Queen Lancer whenever in need of flight.
Mitsuru
Persona
Like every party member in the Persona series, Mitsuru has access to a Persona, which is basically a physical manifestation of the owner’s self. Mitsuru had started out with Penthesilea, but as the story progressed and her resolve grew, she had awakened her ultimate Persona, Artemisia, the evolution of her original Persona. In order to summon her Persona, she has to use an Evoker (Though, the arena games don’t care lmaoooo). Artemisia is an ice-based Persona with several abilities geared towards combat, such as…
- Bufu skills: Standard ice element attacks that has a chance to freeze an opponent. With mabufu skills, she can target multiple enemies at once at the cost of more SP
- Dia skills: Low/moderate/full healing skills that Mitsuru can use to either heal herself or her allies… Or enemies
- Megidoloan: An Almighty element attack that can attack multiple opponents
- Vorpal Blade: A physical attack that slashes the opponent for a good amount of damage.
- Ice Boost/Amp: Passive skills that increase the amount of damage her Bufu skills do.
- Mind Charge: A skill that doubles the damage of her next magic attack. This would be really redundant if it didn’t stack with her passive Boost/Amp
- Ice Break: A skill that reduces, if not an opponent’s resistance to ice attacks if they have any. It can even nullify immunities to ice based attacks
- MARIN FUCKING KARIN: A lovely little skill that inflicts the charm ailment on a foe. Under this skill’s effect, opponents will either attack their allies or help the opponent by healing them.
- Sexy Dance: Basically Marin Karin but can inflict the ailment on multiple enemies.
- Tentarafoo: A skill (much like Marin Karin) that will inflict the panic ailment on an opponent. This ailment can cause opponents to attack their own team, stand around twiddling their thumbs, or fork over some cash
- Angelic Grace: A buff that increases the odds to dodge most magic attacks
- Sharp Student: Another buff, however this lowers her chances from getting hit by a critical attack
Physical Attacks
One would assume that Mitsuru would have to rely solely on her persona, however she’s no slouch on her own. As shown in the arena games (which are canon), she can fight well and have been shown to do physical attacks without the use of her persona such as…
- Getsu-ei: A slashing attack that deals more damage under a full moon
- Coup Droit: A thrusting attack with her rapier that covers a lot of ground
- Myriad Arrows: A multi hitting attack that can pierce multiple foes
- It could be possible for her to be able to use Vorpal Blade without the use of Artemisia, however it hasn’t been shown.
Analysis
At the beginning of the game, Penthesilea has been shown to be able to size up opponents to find any potential weaknesses, immunities, and information about them. However, she is far outclassed by fellow SEES member, Fuuka Yamagishi due to Penthesilea being a more combat-focused Persona. Though she doesn’t really use it much after Fuuka takes over that role, she does use it in Persona 4 Arena, showing that Artemisia can still do it and didn’t lose it when evolving from Penthesilea. That said, Mitsuru notes that she needs specific equipment to fully maximize these abilities, and they still pale in comparison to a dedicated Navigator Persona.

Weaknesses
Weiss
She forgot how to fight after dealing with her daddy issues.
Weiss’ Aura is finite, and repeated use of her Semblance - especially her Summons - or taking damage during a battle drains it. When her supply tops out, her Aura is broken, robbing her of any means to fight back or survive potentially fatal wounds… not really helped by the fact that Auras nowadays break pretty fast; Yang and Blake fighting against Adam in the recent Volume 6 finale is one such example. Her Dust supply is also finite, and losing it robs her of more combat options. Her glyphs can be broken if dealing with a strong enough force, and she has also never shown to be capable of summoning more than one ally at a time, not to mention she still hasn’t mastered performing the technique. Lastly, even though she’s been through a lot and has fought many different people, Weiss has never won a one-on-one fight against a non-Grimm before.
Mitsuru
This.
In all seriousness, Mitsuru’s use of a Persona does have its drawbacks. Artemisia is weak towards fire-based attacks, her myriad magic skills are all reliant on a pool of SP that drains with every skill used, and taking too much damage at once could cause Mitsuru to suffer a Persona Break, forcing her to fight without a Persona for a short period of time. While she did previously serve as SEES’ field navigator, Artemisia’s own analysis skills aren’t as effective as a dedicated support Persona, like Fuuka Yamagishi’s Juno. Specialized equipment is required for her to fulfill the role of a navigator.
Summary
Weiss
Advantages:
- Dust gives her more elemental variety
- Can do more on her own without her summons than Mitsuru can without her Persona
- Has fire-based attacks, which Artemisia is weak to
- Has a lot of kickass songs - many of which might actually get played
- In the base game for BBTAG
Disadvantages:
- Aura is finite, and losing it robs her of… just about everything
- Lacks the years of experience and leadership skills Mitsuru boasts
- Has a harder time bringing out her summons than Mitsuru does with her Persona
- Is more likely to run out of Aura before Mitsuru runs out of SP since Aura is used for almost everything
- Statstomped for the most part
- No counter to Mitsuru’s status ailments
- Cutting board
- From a biased standpoint, we’re still going to hold the end to Volume 5 against her for very obvious reasons
Mitsuru
Advantages:
- Much more experienced given her role as a leader and a combatant who has fought Shadows far longer than Weiss has fought Grimm
- More reliable healing options through Diarahan
- Artemisia is superior to Weiss' summons
- Artemisia can nullify any of Weiss’ ice-related Dust
- Artemisia can analyze Weiss to potentially find out her weaknesses and other information
- Marin Karin and Tentrafoo are status ailments Weiss has shown no resistances to
- Less likely to run out of SP before Weiss’ Aura is broken
- Should outstat Weiss in every area possible. If you accept scaling to the Persona 5 party through PQ2, the stat difference becomes very wide in Mitsuru’s favor
- Is in P4A which is infinitely better than BBTAG, which she is still also in
- Not a cutting board
Disadvantages:
- Many of her skills are reliant on Artemisia’s presence, and she loses combat options if she is inflicted with Persona Break
- Has kickass songs too, but because of how analysis music works now in modern DB, pretty sure it ain’t playing
- Is BBTAG DLC

So, not-so-fun fact: when I became something of a recurring guest for the blog way before I got brought on as a full-time member - two years ago if memory serves, I did not know anything at all about RWBY other than “oh lol Yang beat Tifa and uh that’s a no no”, and was waiting for Persona 5 like any sane Persona fan would do. Also, I thought Mitsuru should’ve fought Jin from BlazBlue. I even made a blog about it! I stand by the verdict about Jin winning but holy shite, 2017 me needed a lot more work on his VS skills.
Oh, and 2017 was when they announced CTB. Coincidence? Yes. I digress.
Been a while since I can sink my teeth into a fight with characters I can consider myself comfortably familiar with, and we finally got Persona to boot. What’s even better? The Persona gal might actually win it! Getting this out of the way: Mitsuru should make this execution painfully quick in the continuation of this season’s theme: “fights nearly full of either stomps or very decisive victories, nothing’s really been close so far”. (I mean, the only one that sorta came close was that last fight but that’s a whole other matter.)
We should probably go over stats first. The biggest misconception I’ve seen is that Mitsuru should be nothing more than a normal peak human at best given that Weiss’s Aura makes her more blatantly superhuman by comparison, and this couldn’t be farther from the truth - something of a similar mindset to one we discussed in our TMNT VS RWBY blog. Stuff from the manga, movies and spin-offs like P4A and PQ - many of which are very much canonical - shows that Mitsuru not only has similar superhuman feats when it comes down to fighting large and physically superior foes, but can nearly surpass Weiss’ level entirely when you consider who her opposition is - pretty much a fancy way of saying that Mitsuru scales to people whose stats make the majority of RWBY look pitiful from a VS perspective.
Both ladies should be around the same ballpark speed-wise, since they either have lightning-timing feats (Mitsuru dodging Zio skills) or scale to people who have them (Weiss scales to Emerald Sustrai, who has dodged attacks from the previous Fall Maiden). However, Mitsuru’s ability to deal powerful hits and take them far surpasses Weiss’ own limits on that front; this is through scaling to the likes of Erebus and Persona 4’s Investigation Team. Erebus was stated to be capable of destroying mountains in Persona 4 Arena, while the IT’s leader Yu Narukami tore apart a small town in his fight against Tohru Adachi from the Golden anime. Weiss hasn’t really had the chance to face off against foes that powerful too much, and the one time she did, Cinder nearly killed her. Not a good look for Snow White over here.
Even taking out the discussion on stats, Mitsuru should be able to match the arsenal Weiss is packing. Fire Dust could abuse Artemisia’s elemental weaknesses, and Lightning Dust could boost her speed to grant better mobility for a spell with Time Dilation Glyphs, but Artemisia nullifies Ice Dust handily while also possessing more skills that can buff Mitsuru like Ice Amp and Mind Charge. Furthermore, Weiss has shown no resistances to mind-based hax like Tentrafoo or Marin Karin, and even if she herself had any resistances to ice attacks - something which doesn’t exist if I’m remembering my RWBY right, Ice Break could remove it.
Weiss’ Summons are by far her trump card, and while she has made strides to improve it as seen with her ability to create a giant Atlesian mech by the end of Volume 6, giant foes like it aren’t anything Mitsuru hasn’t faced before considering the Arcana Shadows she and SEES have beaten in P3. Furthermore, these Summons tax Aura reserves hard, and if there’s anything that’s pretty constant among post-time skip RWBY eps, it’s that Auras break pretty fast after fighting for what only feels like a few minutes. Weiss’ Aura is going to drain fast considering how much it’s fixed into her fighting style; her Semblance, ability to heal minor wounds and defend against mortal ones are all fixed on it, and taking that away cripples her chances a lot.
By contrast, Mitsuru doesn’t need to exert herself too much when summoning Artemisia, and while attacking her Persona directly could cause a Persona Break - feasible given that Personas don’t follow JoJo Stand rules and can be seen and interacted with by non-Persona users, she can always call her back after a set amount of time passes. Managing SP isn’t much of an issue for her either; if we go with gameplay, she has one of the larger SP pools out of any member of SEES, while she doesn’t mention being overtaxed with using Persona skills in any other source. Furthermore, Diarahan can restore Mitsuru back to full health - something Weiss has no true equivalent to, and if you consider Aura to be the RWBY equivalent of SP, Spirit Drain can just steal away more resources if Mitsuru needs them while further screwing Weiss over.
This also ties in a bit to one other solid uncontested advantage Mitsuru also has: experience. As it stands, not only is she older than Weiss - a four-year age gap between them, but she’s been fighting Shadows more than Weiss has been training to be a Huntress. Whereas only more than half a year has passed within RWBY canon, Mitsuru has a minimum of roughly 5 years+ experience with both SEES and the Shadow Operatives if you take the time span from when she first started SEES up as a high school freshman (2007) until the events of Persona 4 Arena (2012). Throughout that time frame, she’s contributed to the defeat of five world-ending deities (Nyx, Erebus, the Clockwork God, Hi-no-Kagutsuchi and whoever the main villain of PQ2 is); while she’s never dealt the killing blow on any of them, her participation in the major incidents tied to them means that she’s already much more of a battle-tested warrior than Weiss is.
All in all, Mitsuru should have enough to land a decisive win and start off Persona in DB well enough. This isn’t to say that it’s a stomp, but any and all of Weiss’ paths to victory just get countered by the stats, arsenal and experience her opponent’s bringing along, pretty much reducing her own odds of winning to absolute zero… I can’t help but feel like I made this pun in an earlier blog somewhere.

Hooo boy. I never thought I’d be back so soon, but here we are. (Ben 10 vs Green Lantern was good aside from the death. And holy shit, the backlash.)
To be honest, I’m surprised that Mitsuru is the first Persona rep. I’d think either Yu Narukami or Akira Kurusu (anyone that says Ren Amamiya deserves death) would have been in first. But I’m not complaining about the best Persona 3 girl getting in. We got best RWBY girl (while I personally like Yang more, Weiss’s development blows her out of the water) and best Persona 3 girl in a Death Battle. I’m surprised though. I was thinking that Weiss was gonna face Asuna Yuuki and Mitsuru would have faced Jin Kisaragi. But then again, this one has much more connections compared to the other two, and it’s interesting as well. Plus, it’s a BBTAG match, and I’m complete BBTAG trash, despite how bad the game is. (WHERE ARE THE CHARACTER INTERACTIONS FOR DLC PACK #7, MORI?!)
But it stops being interesting once you see how much of a mismatch this is, in Mitsuru’s favor.
Mitsuru has basically every category, and even the few advantages Weiss has, Mitsuru overshadows (no pun intended) them.
Strength? Mitsuru. Speed? Mitsuru. Durability? Mitsuru. Versatility? That goes to Weiss, but Mitsuru can essentially nullify the effectiveness of Weiss’s dust. Experience? Mitsuru. Spirit Partner? Mitsuru has more mastery over her Persona compared to Weiss’s summons. Her Persona also doesn’t drain her as much compared to Weiss’s summons, and is much more versatile and has better abilities. Mitsuru also has a lot of abilities that can inflict status conditions, things that Weiss has no defense against. Even the infamous MARIN FUCKING KARIN, which here is one of her biggest advantages.
While yes, Weiss's Fire Dust helps, Mitsuru's stats essentially makes it irrelevant.
And for the not important stuff, Mitsuru is higher on the tier list and a better waifu.
Yeah, needless to say, Mitsuru has this icy battle in the bag.
Also, I’m pretty excited for the animation. Both Weiss and Mitsuru have great 3D models, and Kara’s most likely gonna reprise her role as Weiss. We may not be getting Tara Platt to reprise her role as Mitsuru, but ah well. And the OST is gonna be a godly mix of RWBY and Persona OSTs.

So, it’s been a while - sorry for not making a verdict for Ben 10 vs Green Lantern, most of the people had already said what i wanted to say regarding that fight and i didn’t think i had that much to contribute, plus i was going through a busy time so yeah those are my reasons why i didn’t make a prediction for Ben 10 vs GL. On the other hand this is definitely a fight that i want to make a prediction for as if you know me - you would know that i am a huge fan of both RWBY and Persona with Persona in particular being very close to JoJo in terms of my own personal favourite franchises so i decided why not make a prediction for this fight - well there’s a problem - like with Ben vs GL - it seems that the other verdict details have gone into plenty fine detail with this matchup in terms of feats and advantages and disadvantages so for like i did with Sora vs Pit - i am going to be answering various questions and queries about this fight as well as give my final thoughts.
Question 1 - Will Mitsuru’s SP run out before Weiss’s Aura.
The answer quite simply is no, Weiss’s Aura has frequently shown to drain extremely quickly as shown against the fight with Vernal - it took a few minutes (considering how long the fight took in the show) for Weiss’s Aura to drain completely after a few good attacks from Vernal. This is likely because as stated in RWBY - using Semblances drains Aura and since Weiss is arguably one of the characters that uses her semblance the most - it’s only natural that her Aura drains quickly with her glyphs and summoning. As i am going to straight up nip this in the bed - the only reason why Weiss was able to summon the Queen Lancer after her Aura had been Smash was because of Jaune. Aura normally doesn’t repair itself so quickly but due to Jaune’s Semblance of giving Weiss his Aura then that allowed to summon. Compare that to Mitsuru who while is a lot more trouble if her SP runs out as all her magic attacks are based on that - she has one of the largest SP pools in all of SEES and during her fight with Aigis - she was still able to keep her SP from going down. So it’s safe to say that Mitsuru’s SP should last a lot longer then Weiss’s Aura.
Question 2 - Does Mitsuru have an answer to Weiss’s fire based attacks.
It should be noted that Mitsuru’s Persona does have a weakness to fire - in Persona 3 but that is not the case in her boss fight in the Answer which is canon by the way - Fire is completely neutral damage to her and Ice Attacks are nullified but we will give DEATH BATTLE the benefit of the doubt and they will use Mitsuru’s Fire Weakness. Well she does have items in the game that does allow her to completely nullify her Fire Weaknesses which is already a tricky slope to begin with - mostly because RPG characters can be rather difficult in terms of what Items do you give or not give to her. But anyway let’s assume they don’t give her any Fire Nullifying Items - well she can always dodge it - she has fought fire based users (or characters who can use fire based personas like Aigis) so she could always dodge the fire attack - her Persona has analysis abilities so she could absolutely see the fire attack coming and simply dodge out of the way. Even if she gets hit - it’s not like it will do that much damage to her. So in conclusion - Mitsuru kinda does and doesn’t have answered to her fire attacks but even still it should not affect the battle that much (it’s not a winning solution for Weiss)
Question 3 - Are Weiss’s Summons - Weaker or More Powerful than Artemisia in terms of durability
This is a simple answer to explain - they are weaker for sure. Weiss summons are a powerful tool i am not denying that but they are extremely easy to kill - Cordovin’s Mech was able to take out a Lancer Summon in one shot with just a simple dust blast - and that isn’t even the best example of Weiss’s summons being extremely frail - during Weiss’s fight with Vernal in Volume 5 - one attack from Vernal completely destroyed the Knight Grimm as Weiss was trying to summon it.Both of these instances prove that while Summons are powerful - they can easily be destroyed in one or two hits - plus they drain a considerable amount of aura and take time in order to summon and yeah, they aren’t the best tools to use in this fight. But the counter-argument - isn’t Artemisia also eligible to getting destroyed - while yes that is indeed most likely the case (though i have seen some people dispute this due to Persona Break being a gameplay mechanic in a fighting game). Should Artemisia tank another hits - it should be temporally broken - but the rate that it recharges is very fast meaning it would take at most maybe a minute for Artmesia to come back and even then unlike Weiss who needs to create a summoning circle which takes time (which Mitsuru could easily exploit by using Artmesia’s ice whip to knock away Weiss’s weapon or simply knock away Weiss and i doubt that Mitsuru would simply allow her to summon). Artemisia can easily be summoned without a thought and instantly appear so ultimately while Weiss’s summons give her a fair bit of variety - the are outmatched by Mitsuru’s Persona.
Question 4 - Can Mitsuru deal with Weiss’s ranged attacks and glyphs?
Sort answer is yes but i will go more in detail regarding this, it’s not a secret that Weiss has a considerable amount of ranged attacks - more so than most characters in RWBY and her glyphs like Time Dilution give her an advantage over her enemies but ultimately i think Mitsuru has counters to everything that Weiss could throw at Misuru - first there’s her ranged attacks - quite an easy one this - Artemisia's ice whip can easily nullify Weiss’s projectiles due to its superior range (which was shown off in the Preview of the fight animation) but can also hit Weiss from quite a distance away which would prevent her from firing her projectiles as she needs some time to cast the glyph before firing the attack. So Mitsuru counters Weiss’s projectiles but what about her Glyphs - well while her pull and push glyphs are impressive - they can easily be broken by a skilled enough opponent. So what about her trump card then - Time Dilution? Well while it make seem impressive on paper - ultimately allow it does is buff her speed which mayyy give her the edge in terms of speed as their speed stats are rather close - ultimately Mitsuru can counter that due to her ice abilities - she can simply slow her down with ice and freeze the floor and creating her to slip and fall. If you have read the Flash or watched the TV Show - you should that ice/cold are one of the best ways of dealing with fast characters so even if Weiss becomes faster then Mitsuru due to her Time Glyph - Mitsuru has several ways around it and could easily counter it as it only lasts a short time.
Question 5 - In the feats thread you posted a lot more feats for Weiss then Mitsuru, wouldn’t that mean Weiss is better?
Well, not really. While it’s true we posted a lot more feats for Weiss then Mitsuru - ultimately this comes down to Quality over Quantity - as while some of Weiss feats are rather impressive - ultimately they aren’t as significant or as strong as Mitsuru’s feats. While i would say that Weiss definitely has more shown feats - Mitsuru’s are better.
Question 6 - Who has the better win/loss record?
Let’s be honest with ourselves - Weiss’s 1 to 1 fighting record is awful - like easily the worst out of Team RWBY. Like in terms of 1 to 1 Wins - she has only one against three opponents - Borabtusk,Lancer and the Knight but she has lost every single fight against a human opponent which actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it - Weiss is built more as a support character - she is meant to be helping her allies in combat and providing ranged supports - not in the frontlines because of her pitiful aura and frailty she can get easily overpowered and overwhelmed in a fight. While Mitsuru’s record isn’t that amazing either as she has lost against Aigis and Metis when teamed up with Yukari - she has beaten more Personas in 1 v 1 in her story mode in Arena and the Manga where she absolutely schooled Naoto Shirogane ho is one of the most powerful Investigation Team members in terms of magic so Mitsuru should easily have the better win/loss record.
These are the questions I wanted to answer and go over - now for my own quick thoughts and opinions on this matchup - if you haven’t already picked up - I would say that Mitsuru is definitely the superior fighter and has the edge in several key areas - while i admit that Weiss is definitely the much more versatile fighter and their speed is about equal - i would say Mitsuru is more intelligent, more experienced, stronger, more durable, counters most things that Weiss can throw at her and can last a lot longer than Weiss in a fight. So overall the Empress of Ice should chill Weiss to the bone.
Also hope you readers enjoy E3 which is this weekend

It’s Weiss Weiss baby. Also, hey look, I found a way to reference PokkĂ©n and have it be somewhat related.
This season has been filled with characters I’m interested in when it’s not Marvel or DC. We got the Mega Men, Nintendo stuff, and now best girl Weiss. Aaaaaand she’s gonna die, which makes me sad to say the least, but it’s still cool to see her. Mitsuru is also pretty neat from what I’ve seen of her so this episode should be fun to watch. And from what I heard, the preview was pretty good.
First off is stats obviously. For strength, RWBY has many feats that put them around building to large building and maybe even city block level via the Dust explosion Weiss caused against the Queen Lancer, which her Arma Gigas summon then killed. Sadly for Weiss, this is a case of quality over quantity, as while Mitsuru has less feats than her, she is still gonna wipe the floor with Weiss due to a large gap in power. This, of course, comes from Erebus being capable of wiping out mountains. Mitsuru would obviously scale, and both ice grills’ durability would be about the same too. As for speed, they both have lightning feats, with Emerald and Mercury dodging lightning and there being lightning spells in Persona. They should be about even in this regard then, unless you count Mitsuru scaling to Junpei, who can react to his Persona throwing his opponent from the atmosphere back down to the Earth in his instant kill attack in Arena. The speed of this varies since it isn’t 100% clear how long it takes, but it either ends in Mitsuru being as fast Weiss, or way faster. Though, admittedly, Weiss’s time dilation could get her the edge if you treat their speed as even, but that requires setup and wouldn’t help her in the long run due to the massive gap of power between the two.
To give Weiss some credit, she does have the upper hand with her larger arsenal and more varied skills. This is due to her Dust and glyphs, but there’s a problem. The most used type of Dust she uses, ice, isn’t going to affect Mitsuru because she’s immune to that element. While her second most used non-glyph type of Dust is fire, which certainly helps to exploit Mitsuru’s fire weakness, she has no way of knowing that she's weak to it in the first place. Plus, Mitsuru tanking a gravity wave from Nyx means she most certainly won’t be affected by Weiss’s gravity Dust imbued glyphs. That shuts down most of what Weiss typically uses in battle, though she can use those gravity glyphs and her glyphs in general for greater mobility. She has shown a small amount of use of lightning, wind, and earth Dust, but it still wouldn’t pose much of a threat to Mitsuru. Ice, fire, and hard-light Dust could be used to defend against attacks, but Mitsuru is so strong that she’d be able to break through them. And with Artemisia, she could attack where Weiss isn’t defending, as the barriers created with those types of Dust don’t cover her entire body.
This is another case of quality over quantity, as Artemisia’s abilities are much more useful and effective than Weiss’s even if there are less of them. Weiss isn’t immune to ice, so Artemisia’s main element to attack with has no problem causing damage. Even if Weiss was, Artemisia has Ice Break to get rid of that immunity, an option Weiss doesn’t have to make her ice attacks hurt Mitsuru. She can also drain Weiss’s energy and give it to Mitsuru. Considering Mitsuru uses Spirit Points and Aura is a manifestation of Weiss’s soul, it’s likely this would reduce her Aura. Not to mention, Weiss has no way to resist Tentarafoo or the dreaded and completely unstoppable Marin Karin. Megidoloan would also most likely pierce through Aura due to ignoring special defenses, and Artemisia can always buff Mitsuru in more useful ways than Weiss’s time dilation, some of which are passive and don’t need to be set up. Also, when comparing their healing and summoning, Mitsuru edges out once again in both. Her healing ability is more potent compared to Weiss’s Aura healing only minor wounds, and with summoning, Artemisia is much easier to bring out than Weiss’s summons, which takes several seconds of concentration. Artemisia in general is more reliable and can’t be killed. Even if she does break, it doesn’t take too long for her to come back to Mitsuru’s side.
Going on, Mitsuru’s ability to analyze the entire area around her and find people and their weaknesses trumps the enhanced senses Weiss gets from her Aura. Also, her Aura is more likely to run out than Mitsuru’s SP, especially since she uses her Semblance a ton and is known for tiring out quickly and being beaten in very few hits. Weiss has even lost to a White Fang lieutenant in two hits, even though she was dominating the guy for most of the fight. That and, as mentioned before, Artemisia can drain Weiss’s energy and give it to Mitsuru. Weiss is support more than anything, and has never beaten a person in a one-on-one fight, while Mitsuru has beaten people like best P4 girl Naoto by herself. Weiss has lost to Nora, the previously mentioned White Fang lieutenant, Flynt Coal, and Vernal, so that should be proof that she lacks the skill to fight one-on-one effectively compared to when she fights with her team.
And to top it all off, Mitsuru is more experienced than Weiss in fighting, leading others, and summoning their partners. In the end, Mitsuru has just about every major advantage in this fight, with Weiss’s minor advantages being too minuscule to do her much good. Can’t wait to see the episode, because like I said, people have been saying the preview looked great.

My prediction for the track’s name: Hearts of Ice
Mirror…. Tell me something… Tell me who’s the most powerful of all?
The answer is Mitsuru? Wonder how Weiss feels about that.
She doesn’t seem to be taking it too well.
First Overwatch comes back, now RWBY?! This is truly one of the best seasons of Death Battle. In all seriousness, it’s freaking awesome to get another representative from RWBY on Death Battle. After all, if it wasn’t for Yang vs Tifa, I would have never discovered RWBY. Now then, let’s talk about the outcome of this matchup.
As stated by the mirror earlier, Mitsuru wins this matchup. While I never had any experience with the Persona franchise, my fellow members of the VS community had pointed out the pretty impressive feats many Persona characters had performed. Mitsuru is no exception. Despite both combatants possessing the same speed, Mitsuru’s strength and durability is far greater than Weiss’. Destroying mountains and tearing towns aparts is a level too high for Weiss to reach. First and foremost, nearly all the characters in RWBY aren’t very strong. The only notable exceptions being the Brother Gods of Light and Darkness and maybe Salem.
Weiss’ main and quite possibly her only advantage is her versatility thanks to her numerous potential summons, Dust, and glyphs. Unfortunately for Miss Schnee, that advantage wouldn’t last long. For one thing, Weiss’ favorite type of Dust for combat (Ice Dust) gets nullified by Mitsuru’s Persona Artemisia. And while Weiss can exploit Artemisia’s weakness to fire with Fire Dust, it should be noted that Dust isn’t an infinite supply and Mitsuru would find a way to stop that weakness from continuously being exploited. As for Weiss’ other types of Dust, they would only delay the inevitable. The Ice Queen can increase her own speed and/or slow down Mitsuru’s speed with the use of her glyphs, but that wouldn’t change the outcome. Weiss’ attacks still can’t break through Mitsuru’s durability, and too many glyphs used would drain Weiss’ Aura (which itself is also a finite supply).
Now we get to what I believe will take up the second half of the fight animation. Weiss’ Summons vs Mitsuru’s Persona. Out of all her potential Summons, the Ice Queen’s best choices are the Queen Lancer and the Arma Gigas. The Queen Lancer provides Weiss with an aerial advantage and serves as a tough opponent. It survived a Dust explosion calculated to be at city block level (said calculation can be found in Weiss’ durability section) and impaled Hazel with its stinger. As for the Arma Gigas, not only will it provide us with an entertaining fight with Artemisia but was also strong enough to kill the previously mentioned Queen Lancer. Unfortunately, the stats of those Summons are low compared to Mitsuru and Artemisia. Not to mention that Artemisia can heal Mitsuru, boost its own stats and attacks, and afflict Weiss with mental/status effects. Additionally, the Queen Lancer and the Arma Gigas each require time and a lot of Aura to be summoned, which is very costly for Weiss in this fight.
I believe Weiss Schnee vs Mitsuru Kirijo is going to be the best episode of Death Battle Season 6. Not only will it be in 3D animation, but Kara Eberle is reprising her role as the Ice Queen and I have high hopes that Casey Lee Williams will provide vocals for the OST. The only downside will be seeing Weiss die. It looks like Mitsuru is going to put her opponent on ice.

Track Name: Niggas in Paris or some shit, IDFK
Mornin’ bitches! Now, as a new face on the blog, I just want to see real quick. Thank fucking christ this isn’t another Marvel or DC match. Like, holy shit. This is one of the only 3 matches this season without a fighter from those franchises. God. Bless. Pointless bitching aside, I’ll talk about how this matchup prolly goes down.
This match isn’t just a stomp, this is a flat out babyshaking. Due to Persona Arena and Q, she easily scales to Persona 4’s Investigation Team, who potentially hit small city level. If for some reason you decide not to use scaling to 4, SEES fought Erebus, who flatout is city level. Either way, she still has a huuuuuuuuuge AP and durability advantage over Weiss. At the very least, Mitsuru has comparable speed, due to zio skills and Yukari’s lightning bow weapon (if that statement is to be believed). however Junpei’s instant kill in Arena should put her way above her (at least in the high end, but the high end is still consistent with the Massively Hypersonic speed the cast already has). In addition to higher speed, Mitsuru also has status ailments that Weiss has literally no defense against. Hell, it's possible for Mitsuru’s ailments to hit Weiss’s summons to literally turn her trump card against her. I could see some people trying to use Mitsuru’s SP as a disadvantage, but there’s an issue with that. Mitsuru has spirit drain to keep her SP up by draining Weiss. Adding onto that, Weiss’s aura is basically her own SP gauge. If Weiss runs low or runs out, she doesn’t have a way to quickly or reliably get it back. And if that happens, Weiss loses access to her… well, everything, and there’s really fuck all she can do about it. Mitsuru’s SP drain could potentially speed up that process due to Aura and SP being similar enough in nature. Yeah, Mitsuru should win this real easy. Now, I hope and pray the next episode doesn’t have a Marvel or DC character. Also, Mitsuru has bigger tits GG no re

Weiss dies almost as hard as RWBY’s writing when the fall of Beacon happened.
SleepyDragonSushi
Hello there. SleepyDragonSushi here. First off, thank you to the Prediction Blog people such as Strunton and ramonzer0 for allowing me to participate! Now, as for this matchup in particular, I won’t lie: It’s my most preferred matchup for both characters. It’s also exciting since some of my favourite RWBY characters and favourite Persona characters are being showcased! However, I’m more than sure that everyone has their own set of concerns regarding this episode; specifically towards DEATH BATTLE’s apparent bias towards RWBY characters. This has since been confirmed by Ben during his “Road to 100” blogs to be false, but there is still a lot of suspicion to be silenced, and I do hope that they silence it with this episode…
Because Mitsuru wins.
Before anyone calls me out and says “Oh you think that because you’re a Persona fan” and blah blah blah: ask anyone else on this blog, and they’ll likely agree with my previous statement. Also, I did research Weiss for a written vs before, so I’m well aware of her strengths and weaknesses.
Speaking of strength, this factor shouldn’t contribute much, but, it should be noted nonetheless. Weiss, as of Volume 6, can reasonably scale to other characters like her teammates. She did produce a barrier strong enough to protect herself and others from a massive explosion, and fought alongside Qrow (best male character in RWBY fite me) against the Grimm Sphinx. She can likely go higher thanks to her summons like the Queen Lancer and the Arma Gigas. And with her teammates, she has defeated swarms of Grimm beasts, of both the ground and sky variety. But, Mitsuru, while not exactly a “strongman” like Akihiko or Kanji, has fought against far stronger enemies like Erebus, who can supposedly tear down mountains, and Nyx, who had cosmic powers that were enough to threaten the entire planet. Granted, only Minato could scale to Nyx since he used the Universe Arcana and a bunch of other plot points in order to defeat it. However, Mitsuru can still scale to Erebus, and even scale to other SEES members and Persona-users like Labrys and Naoto Shirogane respectively. Both Wheels of Fortune have defeated Town-level threats in the form of Hinokagutsuchi and Izanami; the former having been beaten by a lonesome Labrys, and the latter having been beaten by the combined might of the Inaba Investigation Team. That doesn’t degrade the power that the Investigation Team has, as Izanami is far from anything Weiss or any of her teammates could handle.
Speed-wise, Mitsuru and Weiss can be debatably tied. Mitsuru can clash with enemies that can dodge lightning-based spells, as well as scale to her teammates, who could also dodge lightning-based spells. As for Weiss, she can be reasonably scale to her teammates, like Blake, who was able to counter missiles under the effects of Weiss’ Time-based Glyphs. Blake has also dodged a lightning blast from a giant f**kin’ dragon. However, this lightning dodging was preceded by reaction timing, so it shouldn’t be exactly the same level of Massively-Hypersonic that Mitsuru has, but even then, it doesn’t matter much. Speed isn’t either characters’ biggest factor, and even with a speed tie, Mitsuru still holds physical superiority over Weiss.
Case in point, her durability should be the same as her strength, right? It only makes sense, given if her durability WASN’T the same as her strength, then she would’ve been crippled for life. Let’s break down durability anyways; Mitsuru can tank various elemental, Almighty, and physical attacks ranging from missiles to rocket punches. And she usually comes out fine. Weiss, on the other hand, has her Aura, and this can be used to increase her defence. But, compared to Mitsuru’s own defences, Weiss’ Aura just falls short. It provides too little defence against anything that Mitsuru can conjure up, and it’s finite pool ensures the inevitability of Weiss getting a major, crippling blow to the face.
As for arsenal, Mitsuru does lack in the same elemental and summoning versatility that Weiss has with her Myrtenaster and Glyph monsters. She has access to different elements like fire, lightning, and ice, as well as metaphysical forces like time and gravity. Her flexibility with these Dust-based elements is great, and definitely allows more options than Mitsuru’s straightforward cryomancy. Her Glyph monsters are also pretty good on their own. A giant f**k off knight and a giant f**k off mosquito? That’s terrifying, if ya ask me. However, they lack the same power that Artemisia has. Personas usually do a lot of the attacking for their users, so with this in mind, Artemisia has basically the same level of power and physical capability as Mitsuru. Cryomancy can also just stop Weiss cold in her tracks; the same can be said for Mitsuru because Weiss has access to Ice Dust, but, the power of Ice Dust when compared to the full might of a Persona is no contest. And also, Mitsuru is resistant, if not immune, to most Ice-based attacks, so Ice Dust wouldn’t be able to inflict lasting damage. Artemisia can also heal it’s user, cast goddamn Marin Karin, drain Weiss’ energy with Spirit Drain, and inflict Panic on enemies. Yes, Persona abilities rely on SP, but SP, unlike Dust, is infinite. It may run out for a brief period of time due to ability usage, but it will regenerate over time. Plus, Artemisia can still attack with it’s steel whips, and Mitsuru is not to be scoffed at on her own. Even worse for Weiss, her summons take time to enter the battlefield. Mitsuru can just “shoot herself” with her Evoker, and BAM, Artemisia is there. Artemisia may have a weakness to Fire-based attacks, but Fire Dust from Myrtenaster is nothing compared Fire-based spells from fighters like Yukiko Amagi. Even if her Evoker is somehow disabled, Mitsuru can handle herself all on her own. Yes, there is the case of Persona Break, but don’t forget about Mitsuru and Artemisia’s physical superiority.
Skill-wise, Mitsuru dominates. Both are rapier-based fighters, but Mitsuru has far more combat experience than Weiss. She’s also far more level-headed, and more tactical. Having been one of the higher ranking members of the SEES, both pre-graduation and post-graduation, does that to you. And she was never one of the behind-the-scenes people like Fuuka; she’s been an active combatant for as long as Shadows existed, and to this day, leads the SEES, then known as the “Shadow Operatives”, to various missions. Weiss, on the other hand, is still a Huntress-in-training and, to an extent, a Schnee-summoner-in-training. She struggles to even fight a White Fang Captain with a chainsaw, and her summons take a lot of time to get out. She’s a good fighter and decent summoner, don’t get me wrong, but her overall combat experience, when compared to Mitsuru, is lacking without a doubt.
Physical superiority, stronger and more reliable abilities, and a greater experience advantage should give Mitsuru Kirijo a smooth victory. There won’t be a phoenix rising from Weiss’ defeat, and this battle is sure to give RWBY the cold shoulder.
The Winner is… Mitsuru Kirijo.

Track Name: Queens of Ice
Sure, we’ll go with that for the track name.
Also, if Casey Lee Williams doesn’t do vocals for this fight’s OST, I’m gonna be upset. We’ve already got Kara Eberle returning as Weiss, and the animation style focuses mostly on RWBY’s art style. No reason not to get Casey to do lyrics.
Oh yeah as for the fight, nothing I can add that hasn’t been said. Huge RWBY fan, love Weiss, want her to win, not into Persona, know jack all about Mitsuru, her winning being the death of the RT bias theory that I always found dumb ain’t enough to make me want to root for her. All that in mind, Mitsuru wins just by better everything. Again, not much for me to add.
I do have decently high hopes that this fight will be good though. After seeing the preview, animation looks pretty solid so far, voice acting is pretty good, and Torrian playing a bigger role in the animation than he has in all the 3D fights since Ryu VS Jin, all coming together to be pretty hype. Just wish Weiss didn’t have to lose, that probably would’ve made it better. Don’t know if it’ll top the Mega Man Battle Royale, but it might get pretty close.
And yeah, that’s all I gotta say.

And so we go from a “Controversial” result into a straight up controversial matchup. As a fan of RWBY, and having not gotten around to playing Persona, this is actually a pretty neat matchup for me. I get to learn about Persona, and I get to see RWBY stuff. That said… Let’s dive right into this.
So, in terms of speed, the two are actually fairly even, unless you go scaling her to Persona 5 characters through Persona Q2. Both have the lightning timers, and though Mitsuru has done it herself while Weiss hasn’t, Emerald is basically fodder at this point, and Weiss definitely scales to her. And that’s about where the close fight ends. Weiss may be able to encase massive mechs and grimm in ice, but she has absolutely nothing on a being who can casually bust mountains, or Nyx, who can literally drop the damn moon.
Similarly with something like Experience, Mitsuru has been fighting a lot longer, over the course of her time with SEES and the Shadow Operatives. Meanwhile, Weiss is probably one of the least experienced combatants in RWBY outside of Oscar “Farmboi” Pine. Look at it this way. Weiss wasn’t very experienced when she first got to Beacon. She was going over the steps of combat and stances in her head during combat, having not gotten anything to muscle memory yet. She then had her time at Beacon, and got in some training. At the end of Volume 3, she went back to Atlas, where she spent months with pretty much no training. The most she trained was her capabilities in summoning, while other characters were off fighting town-clearing legendary Grimm.
You could argue Weiss has more versatility, and mobility, but when you can’t actually hurt your opponent, it’s not going to add up to much, especially with mind affecting attacks such as Marin Karin being thrown into the mix. Not to mention, in order for Weiss to launch any remote offensive, she needs to consume Aura, and when your offensive options and your defensive barrier use the same fuel, that’s a bad time waiting to happen.
Honestly, this is a one sided fight that for the sake of Death Battle itself, lest DB HQ be burned down with torches by angry fans, Mitsuru needs to win, and rightly should.

Yo. It’s me. The boy. Again. Looking at this matchup, it is the most invested that I have been in a debate for a minute regarding DEATH BATTLE. Usually, I just either did not care or it was too one-sided for there to have a fight with. At first, the thought of this matchup sounded really dumb but given the nature of the characters, I don’t mind it as much now. With the animation preview, I’ve completely warmed up to it. Persona and RWBY are special series to me and while I’m not as much of a fan of RWBY anymore, it did act as one of my initial inspirations for the content I make and the people I’ve met. Persona I just really like as a whole. With Battle Royale’s Leone VS Yang hovering around somewhere, the research for that is still fresh on my mind but I’ll do well not to spoil anything.
Weiss VS Mitsuru is a strange match because for all intents and purposes, it’s one that you can easily mess up if you decide to take anything at face value. Without delving too deep into RWBY, you could clearly see monumental feats surpassing peak-human, whereas Persona tends to be an RPG with Slice of Life mixed in. You wouldn’t think Persona to be anything powerful whatsoever. But the issue is that examining it, you’ll find the roles reversed. RWBY is far weaker than they seem and Persona is WAY more powerful.
Yeah, Mitsuru dubs easy-mode.
Here’s the issue with Weiss. Her direct feats acts as a focal point of scaling across all of RWBY, so if Weiss were to lose, it would invalidate their research with Yang VS Tifa… which I’m down for. Finally get rid of the tinfoil theories. MItsuru’s abilities as a Persona-user far outclass that of anything Weiss could throw at her. While their speed may be in the same ballpark, you’d be remiss to find that the lightning feats from RWBY might beat out the lightning-speed statements in Persona. You could classify Mitsuru dodging or reacting to Zio as a gameplay-element. Which I totally see them doing. With the Grimm Dragon and Emerald, Weiss may actually get the speed advantage here, even if only barely. And I do mean barely.
Attack Potency is where things truly start getting interesting. Fodder Shadows in the series have reached Multi-City Block levels of destruction which completely curbs that of most of the cast in RWBY, and it would tie with even the Maiden’s power. Fodder Shadows let me be clear. Weiss certainly scales her fair share to City Block level with her glyphs and dust, plus if you reallllly wanted to scale her to Qrow or Tyrian (obviously she should not), then it’s a lock for CB to CB+. Here’s the question though:
How is Weiss competing with Town-level from the death of a powerful shadow?
Or the city-wide potent fog in Persona 4 (which she does scale to, P4A is canon)?
Or Nyx?
Or SEES surviving Tarturus getting obliterated / also city-level?
The answer is that she doesn’t. Even taking her meteor feat from the manga into account, if you wanted to go there, Weiss never summoned meteors again in the show, plus Yang’s destruction of it would not nearly be close to the power displayed with what Persona users can do. And Artemisia is way more useful than Weiss’s Summons. The huge problem with Weiss’s abilities are its limits.
Dust is great and she could abuse the fire one, but she’ll run out eventually while Mitsuru could heal up and put her at a disadvantage. Aura is powerful, but it doesn’t protect her from everything, in fact, Megidolan acts as the perfect counter, an Almighty attack able to damage despite walls, barriers, etc. (she could literally one shot Weiss by using this, without Aura, RWBY characters have the same durability as normal humans). Her Summons are her fallen foes, and while they do listen to her, no Aura = no semblance (Yang’s in the V5 short was a special case as it was her first time activating it.) In addition, her Summons require Weiss’s active commands as an extension of her will to survive. Personas have shown able to act on the unconscious will of the user even if they really don’t ask for it (check any moment from P5).
Regardless of buffs or debuffs to counter each other from both sides, Mitsuru has shown to be the better fighter for each. Weiss may have trained for all of her life, but that’s never helped her in a one-on-one with a non-Grimm. She has lost every fight that she has been in by herself. And though Weiss has the top spot in her class (a class that doesn’t even exist anymore considering she never graduated past the first year), Mitsuru has an ability to literally analyze her enemies to get the jump on them. It wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out Weiss’s main weakness.
And one too many hits without her Aura breaks it, and unlike Persona Break, which repairs itself in a few minutes, Aura takes about a day or two to fully recover. And without Aura, Weiss is fucked. Whether you want it or not, Weiss is simply outclassed in every category except Speed. And both RWBY and Persona have statements on both sides that’ll put their stats at even (though RWBY’s are a bit on the unsubstantiated side). Using only direct feats, here’s what we’re looking at:
Weiss - City Block / MHS
Mitsuru - City / MHS
Making Mitsuru’s potency almost… uhhh… isn’t that a million times stronger? Or a billion?
Weiss finna be put… under ice.

We'd also like to share this bonus blog we're releasing. It's Samus Aran VS Mega Man X, check it out here.
While I am surprised you did not include the Manga series for Weiss, I can understand on why most believe Mitsuru should win this fight. This was a good analysis overall.
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest, I'm just on edge about the whole thing. I've got a breath that I'm holding, and the result will determine how it gets released. Also, a weakness you could have added was "Went to Beacon to find a way to stop her company's racism, acted like a racist anyways."
