The G1DBFB Presents: The Community's Most Wanted Episodes for Death Battle Season 8

Hey there folks! We’re about a month away from Death Battle’s return, so before we get there, we figured it’d be fun to do a survey to see what the most wanted episodes for the special 10th anniversary season are.

Since a lot of these have the same number of votes, we won’t be doing any particular rankings counting down to the most popular matchups, but they are organized by how many votes they got. Now let’s get started.

Jason Voorhees VS Michael Myers

Hyperstarman

A matchup I really want and it's the big ol classic horror movie matchup b/w two iconic slashers that is hotly requested so it has a chance in 2021. Jason has fought almost every notable horror movie icon except for Michael fittingly enough, so this fight would answer who'd win b/w these once and for all in a bloody clash that'd be most fitting to happen in Halloween during that year.

Steven Universe VS Star Butterfly

Steven has been overdue for a matchup for a while now and if I recall correctly Star Butterfly is his most popular opponent.

The 2010 decade has brought us so many great TV animated shows from Gravity Falls to Adventure Time to Spiderverse, but there were 2 very memorable cartoons with main protagonists that people, including me, want to see fight to the death. Steven Universe from... "Steven Universe" VS Star Butterfly from "Star VS The Forces of Evil." Even outside of Death Battle, people want to see these 2 modern cartoon characters have a crossover. Steven VS Star is the one of the most highly requested cartoon character fights that has yet to happen. It first started to get more attention around 2015 to 2016 when "Star VS The Forces of Evil" arrived on TV.
Steven & Star's connections are easily to pin point with both of them being the young, optimistic main protagonists who were born with magical powers & must save the world from evil along with a human friend that they're both in a love relationship with. And they have been going through a lot of issues with their terrible mothers. Anyway, another thing that makes the match so intriguing is that it's an offense vs defense type of fight. Will Steven's tough bubble & shield be enough to go up against Star's destructive & versatile spells? Why do I think 2021 is the year for Steven VS Star? Well both of their series have ended so there's that & the animation for Death Battle has been getting better & better every season & it won't be different in 2021.

The Death Battle team was even able to make Danny Phantom VS Jake Long a true episode & had an amazing animated fight. So Steven VS Star has a good chance to happen with the animation improvement even if it's not being hand-drawn. And that's why I think Steven VS Star could possibly happen in the year of 2021. Also if you look closely at 2021, the zero is a shield & the one is a wand. Mind blown

Shadow VS Ryuko
Ramen
Shadow is a legacy combatant who didn't get his proper dues at all in the first two episodes he was in, and man deserves some respect on his name with a proper fight that maximizes his potential against a well-requested opponent representing a new series that gets requested a fair amount to appear on DB.

Malachy Christopher Lewis

These two have a lot of little connections that all add up to one big connection. Created in a lab to be the ultimate through being bio-merged with alien life, dropped off and hidden away for years, motivated by the dead person they consider family, rivals of the local celebrity, fond of the edgy red and black look, golden super forms, falling from outer space... There's more, I think, but that's off the top of my head. Again, these are surface level connections, but they add up to make very similar characters. As such, I think Shadow is Ryuko's best match-up. And to be honest, while Shadow has been on this show twice, his performance has been less than stellar, so I think he's more than deserving of a runback. And on a self-indulgent note, I wrote and researched this fight a while ago, and it was the first thing that I put a lot of effort into, so I have a lot of personal stakes in this.

Alex Mercer VS Cole MacGrath

Clockboxxer
It's a nostalgic rivalry and an old debate. It's been requested for the show since pretty much the beginning. People are still clamoring for it to this day. It's become notorious for just not happening at this point. That said, with 2021 as a year of celebration, it would be the perfect time to finally do it. This is my most wanted. I love InFamous and the episode just has so much damn potential.
Yui Harahara

The characters' similarities: both are ordinary citizens that gain incredible superpowers in the wake of their cities being destroyed, try to connect the dots on the cause of the destruction and on a personal level (Alex needs to map out all his memories; Cole discovers the reason he gained his powers by the end of the game). It's an interesting match-up to look at because of the vast number of powers both possess and how much they counter each other, and there are a lot of intriguing questions: What version of Cole, Good or Bad? How do powers interact, e.g. Cole's BioLeech? There are a lot of "what ifs" I'd love to see DB tackle, and each one (especially "which version of Cole") changes the conversation. And this fight would be so badass. This is season finale material, or at least an episode before another mid-season break. I'd love to see their analyses of each character and get calcs on everything.

Master Chief VS Samus Aran

For one, this match has great animation potential. With the arsenal these two have, it would allow for great choreography, and the detailed models means this’ll definitely be a good looking fight. And Rooster Teeth definitely has experience animating shooter characters, having worked on Red vs. Blue. But this fight is stronger on a sentimental value than a thematic level. Death Battle was inspired by Monty Oum’s Haloid video. It was because of that video, Ben thought “Who would actually win these matches?” and so created Death Battle. With Season 8 being an anniversary season, it makes sense to dedicate an episode to the matchup that basically had a hand in creating the show in the first place.

Blake104
Samus vs Master Chief is a really cool thematic matchup that I think lets you show off how badass both are and my preferred one wins. I'm fairly certain it'll end up happening, considering it's a matchup with a lot of history and probably the most requested matchup for both or at least top 3.

Mr.Man

Next year for Death Battle is a year where the matchups are going to be ones that have a lot of history to the show. So I think it makes sense that they would do Master Chief VS Samus Aran. Haloid was a huge inspiration for the show, and without it I don't know if Death Battle would be around. So I think for a 10th anniversary season it makes sense for one of the episodes to be Master Chief VS Samus Aran. It's got history and it's a pretty popular idea too. The only thing that could stop it from happening is if we get Master Chief VS Doomguy 2, but I feel like the importance of Haloid to the show might make the DB team do Chief VS Samus over it. Also it would make for a really cool fight with all the weapons both can use.

Travis Touchdown VS Jack Cayman

Universe
I really love the vibe and potential it brings for these two legendary Wii titles. It's thematic and translates perfect for 3D. And the rivalry of No More Heroes and MadWorld have been around since their creation, and Travis VS Jack has been relevant since 2013.

SirKillalot98

Beat em up anti-heroes in overly gory game franchises (that ironically started on the Wii) while being tongue and cheek about their surroundings. Despite looking like normal people they can fight all kinds of crazy foes ranging from superheroes to force users to cyborgs to vampires. I could see a lot of comedic possibilities within or out of the fight. Jack possibly being in black and white with Travis lampshading it. A motorcycle duel/chase that is more like the MadWorld one obviously. Fourth wall breaking as courtesy of their franchises but not too in your face like a certain Merc with a Mouth. Boomstick would definitely fanboy over each of these guys. Perhaps they could have a few guest commentators from DeathWatch to also cameo Howard "Buckshot" Holmes and former Kreese Kreeley, who are basically the original Wiz and Boomstick. As for actual choreography, a beam katana vs chainsaw arm power struggle would be so sexy. A wasted opportunity if this isn't one of the more brutal fights in recent years.

There is a No More Heroes 3 coming in 2021 so there is a possibility of a tie in release. This is one of those Death Battles that has been requested since the beginning (perfect for a classic matchup season), mostly because these games have been compared before the birth of Death Battle. Travis does indeed have another big opponent in the form of Scott Pilgrim, however the Canadian has plenty of other valid options while this is Jack's only one. I also think Jack in general is a more exciting opponent, considering his cold-blooded nature and biker aesthetic makes a fun contrast to Mr. Touchdown coupled with having more weapons to make a diverse animation. Travis and Jack were designed for a 3D fight, but Scott is only fit for for a sprite/hand drawn fight considering the comic artstyle.

It also helps that when they were an old company called ScrewAttack, they put both of them in the armory.
In the end, I really would like this fight.

Vibes

It's been a heavily requested matchup since the start of the show, and with No More Heroes 3 on the way, it's better to get this out before Travis stomps Jack even further

PitTheSwordmaster

Both games have drawn multiple comparisons to each other ever since their release due to their similarly unique qualities such as their artstyles, their endless quantity of blood and being among the only M-rated games to be released for the Nintendo Wii. Not only does this matchup have a lot of history behind it, but it would make for one of the most visually stunning and unique matchups to date when combining the series' artstyles, as well as both characters' fighting styles and dialogue. Oh and, there's the possibility of Kreese and Howard commentating the fight so you'd have to be crazy to pass this up after hearing that.

Frieza VS Megatron

Joshski

This one's been a big request since the Season 1 days and has never really died down with it always being the number 1 request for Freezer and Megs who are both pretty long overdue for an appearance, hell the DB crew has even previously mentioned on a cast how requested it is and how they were probably going to do it eventually. I'm a pretty big Dragon Ball and Transformers fan and I really like both of these characters so I'd be pretty hyped to see these two go at it. Both of them have a ton of abilities that'd make for a fun animation even if the size difference would make any hand-to-hand scene a bit awkward, plus seeing their personalities play off each other would be a treat, hell seeing Frieza being Frieza in general is a treat.

Madara VS Aizen

Madara and Aizen are some of the most iconic villains of Naruto and Bleach respectively and it has been one of the most widely talked about and highly requested matchups for a long time, so it definitely has the history and notoriety for season 8 and for good reason. Both are known for having a massive list of abilities and illusions (to the point Madara coined his own legendary copypasta) meaning the fight has a lot of cool potential for interesting interactions and troll fake outs. And with their enormous list of abilities such as Madara’s fire ninjutsu, Aizen’s swordplay, summoning meteors, Aizen’s fusion form, the Perfect Susan’o, Madara summoning the Juubi vs Aizen’s final form Madara rewinding time (yes he can actually do that because Sharingan) the fight has a insane amount of potential for total chaos and destruction making it one of the most exciting and interesting fights to finally see it animated. All this in mind I think it’s about time for these HST Big bads to go head to head it’ll definitely be a fantastic episode to see Death Battle do.

Starolu Platichu

I think the MU has great animation potential I know the OMM version exists and it’s alright but I think that DEATH BATTLE can do much more with the MU. I can definitely see it happening next Season I’m p sure it’s highly requested enough.

Phantom Falcon

Highly requested, both characters are cool as hell, one of the hottest anime fights around, Chadara Uchilad ends the Naruto L streak, and their abilities and raw cunning could make for some excellent animation and dialogue.

But most importantly, we get an answer to an age old question Is there a character that could even possibly EVEN TOUCH Madara Uchiha? Let alone defeat him. And I'm not talking about Edo Tensei Uchiha Madara. I'm not talking about Gedou Rinne Tensei Uchiha Madara either. Hell, I'm not even talking about Juubi Jinchuuriki Gedou Rinne Tensei Uchiha Madara with the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan and Rinnegan doujutsus (with the rikodou abilities and being capable of both Amateratsu and Tsukuyomi genjutsu), equipped with his Gunbai, a perfect Susano'o, control of the juubi and Gedou Mazou, with Hashirama Senju's DNA implanted in him so he has mokuton kekkei genkai and can perform yin yang release ninjutsu while being an expert in kenjutsu and taijutsu. I’m also not talking about Kono Yo no Kyūseishu Futarime no Rikudō Juubi Jinchuuriki Gedou Rinne Tensei Uchiha Madara with the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan (which is capable of Enton Amaterasu, Izanagi, Izanami and the Tsyukuyomi Genjutsu), his two original Rinnegan (which grant him Chikushōdō, Shuradō, Tendō, Ningendō, Jigokudō, Gakidō, Gedō, Banshō Ten’in, Chibaku Tensei, Shinra Tensei, Tengai Shinsei and Banbutsu Sōzō) and a third Tomoe Rinnegan on his forehead, capable of using Katon, Fūton, Raiton, Doton, Suiton, Mokuton, Ranton, Inton, Yōton and even Onmyōton Jutsu, equipped with his Gunbai(capable of using Uchihagaeshi) and a Shakujō because he is a master in kenjutsu and taijutsu, a perfect Susano’o (that can use Yasaka no Magatama ), control of both the Juubi and the Gedou Mazou, with Hashirama Senju’s DNA and face implanted on his chest, his four Rinbo Hengoku Clones guarding him and nine Gudōdama floating behind him AFTER he absorbed Senjutsu from the First Hokage, entered Rikudō Senjutsu Mode, cast Mugen Tsukuyomi on everybody and used Shin: Jukai Kōtan so he can use their Chakra while they are under Genjutsu. I'm definitely NOT Talking about sagemode sage of the six paths Juubi Jinchuuriki Gedou Rinne Tensei Super Saiyan 4 Uchiha Madara with the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, Rinnegan, Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, and Geass doujutsus, equipped with Shining Trapezohedron while casting Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann as his Susanoo, controlling the Gold Experience Requiem stand, having become the original vampire after Alucard, able to tap into the speedforce, wearing the Kamen Rider Black RX suit and Gedou Mazou, with Hashirama Senju's DNA implanted in him so he has mokuton kekkei genkai and can perform yin yang release ninjutsu while being an expert in kenjutsu and taijutsu and having eaten Popeye's spinach. I'm talking about sagemode sage of the six paths Juubi Jinchuuriki Gedou Rinne Tensei Legendary Super Saiyan 4 Uchiha Madara with the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, Rinnegan, Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, and Geass doujutsus, equipped with his Shining Trapezohedron while casting Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann as his Susanoo, controlling the Gold Experience Requiem stand, having become the original vampire after having absorbed Alucard as well as a God Hand, able to tap into the speedforce, wearing the Kamen Rider Black RX suit, with Kryptonian DNA implanted in him and having eaten Popeye's spinach while possessing quantum powers like Dr. Manhattan and having mastered Hokuto Shinken.

That wraps it up for us there folks! We were hoping to be able to post a Season 7 lookback in two week’s time as well (likely just before the premiere gets announced), but as it stands right now we don’t have enough votes in to be able to publish anything of real significance. If you guys want to see that blog, please follow this link and fill out the form in it. If not, we’ll see you again in a month for when the show returns with Season 8. Until next time!
