Death Battle Predictions: Luke Skywalker VS Saber

"Don't be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart." - Roy T. Bennett

Luke Skywalker, Star Wars’ Grandmaster of the New Jedi Order.

Artoria Pendragon, Fate’s King of Knights and Ruler of Britain.

Throughout history, legendary heroes have been held up as incorruptible paragons of virtue; unwavering pillars of strength upon which we look to for guidance. While stories of such leaders and warriors are numerous, few truly encapsulate the entirety of their legend. For just as prophesied heroes of light and destiny lift up and inspire the masses, it’s their faults and flaws that truly make them human, and why they’ve remained so iconic and widely beloved to this day.

So, when the Grandmaster of the New Jedi Order comes to blows with the venerated King of Knights, which destined savior will emerge victorious? Will Luke Force the Saber-class Servant to take the knee, or is Artoria Fated for victory against the son of the Chosen One? Let's find out in this enlightening DEATH BATTLE!

Before We Start…

Unlike our previous Star Wars blogs, this will focus exclusively on the Legends continuity for Luke, meaning any material exclusive to the current Disney canon will not be considered. As for Artoria, we will not be factoring in Saber Artoria Alter for the character or other alternative versions which are not the primary Artoria.

In addition, for Artoria, we will be looking at her from a ‘maximum potential’ scenario, in abidance with Death Battle’s rules of taking combatants at their best, similar to what was done with the Moon Knight vs Azrael blog in looking at Moon Knight under a full moon. As such, we will be including her depiction as a Servant in Fate/Grand Order, as well as a “Top Servant” from Fate/Extella.

Huge thanks to InverseFate for the Saber RT.

Background

Luke Skywalker

“The stronger you become in the Force, the more you can do, the more that's expected of you, and the less your life belongs to you.”

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… a young moisture farmer named Luke Skywalker called the dunes of Tatooine his home, unaware that he would one day play one of the most important roles in galactic history. In the galaxy’s outer rim on the asteroid planet Polis Massa, Luke was born in secret alongside his twin sister Leia. Their father, Anakin Skywalker, had recently become Darth Vader, and to avoid them falling into the hands of the Sith, including Vader and Emperor Palpatine, Luke and Leia were separated at birth. Luke was taken to Tatooine to be raised by his Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin’s master and closest friend, vowed to watch over Luke and protect him. In his youth, Luke had much of his father in him. He was already a skilled pilot, but he wanted little more than to get off Tatooine and let his adventurous heart explore the vast cosmos of the galaxy.

When Luke was 19 years old, his life was changed forever when he acquired some droids, C-3PO and R2-D2, to help with the family business. They were custodians of a message for Obi-Wan Kenobi from Princess Leia. They eventually found Obi-Wan, who told Luke much of what happened in the past, including what became of his father… from a certain point of view. After the Empire murdered Owen and Beru, Luke followed Obi-Wan on his mission, enlisting the help of Han Solo and Chewbacca along the way. Their original destination, Alderaan, was destroyed by the Death Star, and they were all trapped within the space station. Upon discovering Princess Leia was also trapped there, they rescued her and escaped, but not before Luke witnessed Obi-Wan’s death at Vader’s hand. After joining the ranks of the Rebel Alliance, Luke fought in the Battle of Yavin and used the Force to help destroy the Death Star.

Three years later, Luke was a fully-fledged commander of the Rebel Alliance and the target of Vader’s mad search for the rebel who destroyed the Death Star. Now as a Force Ghost, Obi-Wan instructed Luke to go to Dagobah and learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed him. Traveling to the swamp planet, Luke met the old Jedi Master, who found Luke’s anger and impatience to be too great. With Obi-Wan’s help, Luke began training under Yoda but didn’t complete his training due to foreseeing a terrible event that would befall his friends. Ignoring his masters’ pleas, Luke traveled to Cloud City, falling into Vader’s trap. Despite his bravery, Luke was defeated by Vader, losing his right hand in the process. It was here that Luke’s eyes were opened to the truth: Darth Vader is his father. After narrowly escaping, Luke had reached his lowest point, but not all was lost.

One year later, Luke helped rescue Han Solo from the vile Jabba the Hutt, before returning to Yoda to complete his training. On his deathbed, Yoda confirmed that Vader was Luke’s father and that his training was complete, with Obi-Wan explaining the whole truth and revealing that Leia was Luke’s long-lost sister. Knowing he had to face Vader again, Luke returned to his friends, confiding in Leia the truth of their heritage as he prepared to surrender to the Empire, imploring his father to let go of his hate. Brought before Emperor Palpatine, Luke was unable to ignore his emotional connections to his friends, and so he duelled and defeated his father. Seeing that he would end up just Vader, Luke refused to turn to the dark side, enduring the torture of Palpatine, begging for his father to help him. His pleas and pain finally breaking through to his father, Vader intervened, sacrificing his life to defeat the Emperor and finally redeeming Anakin Skywalker with his selfless act. Before his death, Anakin looked at his son with his own eyes for the first and final time, proud that Luke was right about him.

With the Sith and the Empire defeated, Luke became one of the faces of galactic peace, as the New Republic rose to govern the galaxy. However, the fighting did not end. Many powerful threats emerged to challenge the peace Luke and his friends had fought for. Grand Admiral Thrawn, the Empire’s foremost strategic and accomplished officer, launched a campaign to retake the galaxy for the declining Empire. During Thrawn’s campaign, Luke would encounter Mara Jade, the Emperor’s Hand, determined to kill him as per Palpatine’s last command, the clone Dark Jedi Joruus C'baoth, and even fought against a clone of himself, Luuke Skywalker. The cloning of Force-sensitives was later revealed to have been the work of Emperor Palpatine, who returned to the galaxy in a clone body and established the Dark Empire. Faced with little options, Luke turned to the Dark Side in order to better understand the Force, the experiences his father went through, and to take down Palpatine from the inside.

With help from his friends, Luke eventually turned back to the light and defeated the Emperor, where he used all of his knowledge and understanding to establish the New Jedi Order. He even married Mara Jade and had a son named Ben. Though his new life and the galactic peace that had been established was all threatened when Yuuzhan Vong War broke out, which transitioned the New Republic into the Galactic Alliance. Leading the fight against them, Luke was eventually able to defeat the invaders and restore peace, but a second Galactic Civil War disrupted it, and the Sith managed to return through Jacen Solo, Luke’s nephew, who ended up killing Luke’s wife, Mara Jade. Seeking vengeance for his wife’s murder, Luke slew the Sith Lumiya, thinking her responsible, but she wasn’t truly at fault. Recognising that if he sought out Jacen in revenge, he would fall down a path he would not be able to recover from, Luke instead taught his niece, Jaina Solo, to be the vanguard of the Jedi. She was eventually able to slay her brother and end the war, but at a high cost.

After the war, Luke was exiled, and he set off with Ben on a journey to figure out what turned his nephew to the dark side while political tensions cooled. During their adventure, they ended up discovering an ancient dark side entity, Abeloth, who threatened all of creation. With some help, Luke’s exile ended and he returned to being Jedi Grandmaster, leading the Jedi, and a Sith ally, in battle against Abeloth. Luke and his forces narrowly achieved victory, but Abeloth still had the potential to return, and so he launched the Hunt for Mortis to ensure they could defeat her if she ever returned.

Eventually, Luke retired from his position as Jedi Grandmaster and passed away sometime later, becoming one with the Force. His spirit and legacy would continue for many generations, even teaching his descendant, Cade Skywalker, in the ways of the Force. Although Luke may not have lived a perfect life, his words and actions would inspire countless others, with an immortal impact in both his world and our own. For no one can forget the legend of the galaxy’s saviour, forging a bright and hopeful future with a radiant blade to lead the way.

Artoria Pendragon

"I ask of you, are you my Master?"

Before Artoria Pendragon's birth, the king of Britain was stated to be the inheritor of a primordial curse. However Uther, her father, was said to be the last holder, so he designed a plan to create a child both human and dragon with the assistance of Merlin, who foresaw the day the Red and White Dragon would do battle. Artoria was born during the chaos and war of Western Rome’s fall, with Britannia breaking off into smaller countries, otherwise known as the Dark Ages. Igraine, the wife of Uther, bore both Morgan and Artoria, with Artoria being infused with the Red Dragon's concept. Despite being born female, Merlin stated that the sex of the future king was irrelevant, before taking her away and raising her until she was five before leaving her to be raised by Ector and his son Kay.

For almost 22 to 23 hours a day, Artoria trained for her destiny as king, taking time only to eat and care for her horse. Even in her sleep, Merlin would use her dreams to continue her teachings. This would go on until Artoria one day pulled the sword Caliburn from the stone, giving up any chance of a normal life and even halting her aging. Leaving her village, Artoria rallied followers such as Gawain behind her, and after 10 long years, slayed Vortigern and established the kingdom of Camelot. However, Camelot was always doomed to fall, such was its fate as a kingdom of magic entering the Age of Man.

As King, Artoria unsettled most with her petite and unaging figure, but with her exceptional performance as King, nobody saw good reason to replace her, and she experienced nothing but triumph as she continued to win great battles and gather knights to her cause, establishing the Knights of the Round Table. It was around this time that Mordred, a homunculus clone of Artoria created by Artoria's villainous sister Morgan Le Fae using Artoria's blood and spirit, came to be. Mordred's status as a homunculus meant that she aged fast, and with her own efforts, secured a spot at Artoria's Round Table. However, after being informed of her heritage by Morgan, Mordred demanded to be made heir to the throne. Artoria deemed Mordred unworthy of kinghood, believing Mordred to lack the qualities necessary to lead the throne. However, Mordred believed she was rejected out of Artoria's hatred for her nature as Morgan's child.

Artoria married Guinivere out of obligation, believing it was part of a king's duty to have a wife, but they were close despite this. Guinivere would eventually develop mutual feelings of love with Artoria’s right-hand man, Lancelot, over their shared desire to ease Artoria's burden as King, a relationship that Artoria fully supported, seeing that it made both happy.

Agravain exposed the relationship between Lancelot and Guinivere, creating tensions in the kingdom. He imprisoned Guinivere, leading to Lancelot killing several knights in an attempt to free her, and even after receiving a letter of pardon from Artoria, Lancelot ran away. Artoria entrusted Mordred with watching over Camelot while she went after Lancelot, but Mordred used her absence as a chance to rally Artoria's detractors and begin a coup. Artoria later returned to Mordred's rebellion now at its peak, and despite her exhausted and weakened state, was able to use Rhongomyniad to defeat Mordred on the hills of Camlann. However, with her last bit of life, Mordred dealt a fatal wound to Artoria.

With sorrow in her heart, Artoria struck a deal with the world (Alaya of the Counter Force), to be summoned during wars for a chance to obtain the Holy Grail and one single wish to prevent the fall of her kingdom, which is what led to her heavy involvement in the events of both the 4th and 5th Fuyuki Holy Grail Wars.

Ages would pass from the fall of Camelot, and the legend of King Arthur Pendragon would be passed down as one of the most famous in human history. Naturally, such a powerful warrior would make for an ideal Servant during the Fourth Holy Grail War, and so the Einzbern family excavated the scabbard Avalon from Cornwall, using it as a catalyst through which to summon the Once and Future King to their side in the strongest class available; Saber. With the infamous Mage Killer, Kiritsugu Emiya, serving as their Master, and his wife, Irisviel, being the Lesser Grail which would allow the Greater Grail to emerge, the Einzberns were well set for the War, though none were expecting King Arthur to be a woman; the secret was that well-hidden.

Although Artoria worked alongside the Einzberns, friction between her and Kiritsugu formed immediately, and Artoria spent most of her time protecting Irisviel while the Mage Killer fought from the shadows. During the War, she’d have the chance to face some of history’s strongest warriors in battle; Iskandar (Alexander the Great), Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, Gilles de Rais, Gilgamesh, and even her once-loyal knight, Lancelot, though things were never so great for Artoria. Her Master fought in ways she could not approve of, Irisviel was slowly dying, even with Avalon’s healing abilities, her honorable duel with Diarmuid was brutally ended by Kiritsugu’s stone-cold pragmatic interference, Gilgamesh and Iskandar tore down and mocked her ideals as a King, and she was forced to fight to the death against her crazed second in command, killing the man she still held so dear.

Even worse, so close to getting her wish (or so she thought), Kiritsugu commanded her to destroy the Greater Grail. Having to use a second Command Seal to reinforce the order as she was resisting, Artoria was forced to destroy the Grail, spilling the contents of the Grail Mud into Fuyuki, which was infused with all of the world’s evils, Angra Mainyu. Artoria faded away, but in her wake was left the tragic Fire of Fuyuki which claimed the lives of an uncountable number of innocent people, but a young red-haired boy was able to survive with Kiritsugu’s help and Avalon infused into him. Adopting the child, he named him Shirou, and gave him as good a life as he could, passing on his ideals of becoming a hero before passing away.

Ten years later, Shirou would be dragged into the Fifth Holy Grail War, accidentally calling out for a Servant to summon, and with Avalon inside of him, Artoria once more answered the call, returning to Fuyuki, this time under a much kinder Master. From here, their story would diverge greatly. One timeline has the two grow their relationship into a romantic one, with them working to take down Gilgamesh and Kirei Kotomine, and Artoria regaining Avalon as she comes to terms with the inevitable fall of her country. Another timeline (the best one) has Artoria become both a mentor and mother figure for Shirou, as well as his girlfriend, Rin, even accepting her past and giving up on her wish to help them save the world from Gilgamesh’s plans as Shirou truly came to break down his ideals and accept himself as a person. The final timeline would see Artoria corrupted by the Grail Mud and turned into a dark version of herself which fought against Shirou, though was defeated by the hero-to-be.

Regardless of the route, Artoria would eventually be able to find peace within herself and her contract with the world would come to an end, allowing her spirit to ascend to the Throne of Heroes. Though her life was far from perfect, Artoria Pendragon gave everything she could for her kingdom and people, and the impact she left is one that cannot be forgotten; neither by history, nor those she was close to. Now fighting alongside other historic warriors of legend in Chaldea or the Moon Cell, Artoria keeps up the fight to defend humanity, long after her time has passed, leading the way with a shining blade full of hope for the future.

Experience & Skill

Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker is one of the most talented lightsaber duelists and Force users to ever grace the galaxy, having numerous decades of experience in both and a vast number of wins under his belt. He's battled a large variety of opponents across his time, from Darth Vader, to Emperor Palpatine, to the avatar of Abeloth, to even Harry Potter, the Grandmaster shows he's equipped to deal with nearly any type of foe the galaxy offers.

With his various forms of training, Luke has demonstrated incredible skill with the blade. He possesses a natural ability to learn with his lightsaber, and had gotten so effective to the point of his swings being compared to that of 10 or 20 at once. He's even able to operate without sight, deflecting arrows and even blaster bolts while blindfolded. During the Dark Empire series, Luke was even able to duel Luuke Skywalker, his clone, and is said to be ‘the very essence of the Jedi’ and one of the highest order, and the greatest Jedi in the galaxy at that time.

He had his learning abilities said to astonish a Jedi Master, and was comparable to everyone in his Jedi Academy even if he fought with only his weak hand. He's even fought alongside his son Ben Skywalker despite exhaustion and bested many sith that were well-trained and specifically picked by hand to kill them both, and later helped in defeating the most skilled and high ranking sith warriors, the Sith Sabers, despite their foes being amplified on a Dark Side Nexus. Ben even notes that Luke Skywalker is the greatest sword wielder in the galaxy, showing the legacy the Skywalker has left.

Of course, Lightsaber combat is only the surface of Luke's fighting prowess. Luke knows at least 20 different forms of martial arts trained on different worlds, and has demonstrated great precision when throwing his lightsaber to the point of controlling its exact direction and target. Even when the odds are against him, Luke has also shown great persistence in pushing from being at a disadvantage. He was able to battle Lomi Plo despite them being invisible, and even battled Welk despite being tired and assaulted by the hive to the point of his movements being seen in slow motion, and if that wasn't enough Lomi had also drained energy from his lightsabers. Despite all this, Luke was able to disarm Welk and emerge victorious.

But of course, that’s even without considering skill scaling for Luke. Luke was stated to be an equal to Vader by ROTJ, bested him in their duel and should be far above him in skill for later series of Legends. In the Clone Wars alone, Anakin was labeled the greatest Jedi in every aspect and is compared to Jedi Elders in having more experience than them just as a Padawan alone. Prior to his transformation, Palpatine even complimented Anakin as being the most skilled Sith in history, and his feats definitely show following his transformation to Vader.

He was proficient in all combat styles to the point of adapting to foes rapidly switching theirs, and with little difficulty bested opponents that trained in every form of hand to hand, and could even battle Starkiller’s clone for hours and not take a single hit and is considered by him to have an impenetrable defense. He even has demonstrated incredible capabilities against foes specifically meant to deal with him. He was compared to (as Anakin) a droid programmed to counter all strategies of their opponent and fought battle droids that possessed knowledge of hundreds of swordmasters and dozens of fighting styles just for sparring. Needless to say, Palpatine’s declaration of Vader being the greatest Jedi killer in history isn’t unfounded, making Luke’s position as his equal all the more impressive.

But that isn’t even his highest potential, as shown by Nick Gillard’s rankings of skill from 1 - 10 based on that of the Richter scale, which means anyone above should possess a massively higher skill level than those below. Anakin, even before becoming Vader, was ranked next to Yoda and Sidious at a 9 each, compared to Kenobi and Mace being an 8, though Mace was bordering on a 9. Luke should be comparable to this given him being Vader’s equal, and should logically be far more skilled in later eras of Legends.

To start, Dooku (whom Anakin defeated), was also stated to be one of the best duelists in the Jedi Order and only matched by Yoda and Mace in combat, and is also the mentor and superior to General Grievous. Grievous is able to battle several Jedi Masters at once and is capable of adapting to any form of lightsaber combat, which is especially insane considering this includes Mace’s Form VII, which requires masteries in multiple other forms.

As for Yoda and Sidious, Yoda is labeled as the most experienced and skilled of the Jedi Order’s Masters, and has mastered all forms of lightsaber combat there is. Palpatine (who funnily enough, Mace defeated in a duel) had also mastered all forms, has easily bested all of Mace’s Strike Force that also consisted of the most skilled Jedi in galaxy’s entire history and even, alongside Darth Plagueis, defeated hundreds of a planet’s best warriors using nothing but pikes.

All in all Luke’s skill is fucking crazy man. (Refer to the link for more skill showings for Luke across all era’s of his life and other characters he scales to in this regard).

Artoria Pendragon

As her title of “King of Knights” suggests, Artoria was trained to stand above the greatest knights of her time and is indeed acknowledged as such by many different warriors. From the age of five, she was raised to be a knight by Sir Ector and would spend another decade traveling and training after lifting Caliburn. She was considered invincible by Lancelot and an equal by Diarmuid, later fending off both at the same time while injured during the Fourth Holy Grail War.

Diarmuid considers Artoria a master swordsman and is his equal in skill. She could even keep him at bay with a single arm. She also took down hundreds of Gilles' monsters, and hundreds more alongside Diarmuid.

Artoria considers herself the Servant most skilled with a blade. But her greatest showings of swordsmanship are her duels and victory against Sasaki Kojiro, a swordsman so skilled he is a contender for greatest swordsman who ever lived and developed a technique that reached the level of True Magic all on his own. Not only that, but Kojiro’s Knowledge of The Sowa skill prevented Artoria from being able to read his moves and guaranteed the accuracy of his attacks, meaning Artoria had to react and respond to Kojiro on the fly.

These are all just the more direct feats and accomplishments regarding Artoria herself. For a more extensive comparison, we can compare Artoria to multiple other Servants to assess her combat skill. For instance, she would be far and above the likes of Geronimo, a Servant stated to possess mastery over close-range weapons and can take on an army of soldiers. Geronimo self-admits that he doesn't quite compare to a lot of other Servants, namely the likes of Nero, the Celtic Servants, and Hindu Servants in combat ability.

Celtic Servants such as Beowulf and Scathach can fight on equal terms with Li Shuwen, a Servant so skilled that he can defeat numerous Servants with a single blow and utterly outmatched Okada Izo, who can adapt to and replicate any fighting style and make it his own just by witnessing it once. He is also implied to have defeated Houzouin Inshun off-screen, which is impressive considering Inshun’s own skill level.

Houzouin Inshun’s skill with the spear is at such a level that it breaches into the realm of the divine, and his spear can reach The Buddha himself. His Noble Phantasm, a culmination of his impossible skill, adapts to any opponent or technique, regardless if he has never encountered it before and no matter what type of armament is being used. He is guaranteed to parry, evade, or counter it. But despite that, he also falls short of Miyamoto Musashi, who's still-incomplete swordsmanship was enough to best an amped Inshun in combat

Musashi would then go on to challenge Yagyuu Munenori, whose swordsmanship was one step ahead of Musashi's own that could simulate hundreds of thousands of possibilities in an instant. He would end up forcing her to improve and evolve her swordsmanship mid-battle before he was defeated.

Now how does this all tie back to Artoria? Well we’ll have to go back to Diarmuid, who defeated a Fairy King that found Munenori's swordsmanship disappointing. He would also be treated as being relative or equal to Li Shuwen and Beowulf, as well as Yan Qing and Asvatthaman. The latter of whom was peers with and trained alongside Karna under the same master and said to be superior to Karna, which Karna himself admits. Karna was considered the only rival to Achilles in Fate/Apocrypha and also possessed skill on a divine level.

But beyond combat, Artoria was also the leader of a nation for over a decade. Sir Gawain claimed her title didn’t merely come from being a king of knights, but rather she was truly worthy of the worship and allegiance of every Briton knight. Sir Kay considered her the ideal king, skillfully managing the politics between lords and bringing invaders to heel. King Richard the Lionheart would even praise Artoria, believing she was exactly like the legends said after just briefly viewing her during the Fourth Holy Grail War.

Equipment

Luke Skywalker

Lightsaber

Throughout his life, Luke has carried multiple lightsabers. He originally wielded his father’s lightsaber before constructing his own, which was made with materials and schematics gathered by Obi-Wan Kenobi. Unlike most lightsabers, Luke constructed his more simplistically, having only a single crystal compared to the typical three, which provides the blade with full adjustability.

His lightsaber uses a synthetic crystal, which typically provides a slightly stronger lightsaber blade compared to using a Kyber crystal, which had been the standard during the golden age of the Jedi Order. When a Force sensitive creates a synthetic lightsaber crystal, they channel their Force energies into it, making it distinct from other lightsaber crystals. Through this process, Luke was able to change the synthetic crystal’s natural red color to green.

Lightsabers are famously known for their ability to seemingly cut through anything they come into contact with, though there are materials such as Beskar which can resist a lightsaber strike. The blade itself is pure energy. Thanks in part to the way it was constructed, the lightsaber contains a connection to the Living Force, and acts as an extension of himself through it. Furthermore, while anyone can wield a lightsaber, the lightsaber’s potential is fully realized through being attuned to the Force itself, which requires intensive training and enhanced senses to wield correctly.

Lightsaber Shoto

After losing his first encounter with the Dark Lady of the Sith, Lumiya, Luke constructed a Lightsaber Shoto to combat her unique lightwhip, using the materials of a Stinger blaster rifle, powered by the blaster’s power pack.

Lightsaber Shotos are the typical lightsaber on a smaller scale, so they function exactly the same. They were wielded primarily by Force-sensitives who wished to practice the art of Jar’Kai, wielding multiple lightsabers at the same time. However, Lightsaber Shotos have plenty of applications beyond this. For example, Master Yoda used only a Lightsaber Shoto, as its smaller size was more suited to his stature compared to the standard lightsaber. (But judge him by his size you should not).

The specifications of Luke’s Lightsaber Shoto are unclear, but we can make some safe assumptions. As the shoto’s blade is red, Luke very likely constructed it using a synthetic crystal, the same as his primary lightsaber. Synthetic crystals, due to their artificial creation, were red in color. The general inability to access naturally occurring lightsaber crystals during the time period further supports the assumption the crystal is synthetic. Although Luke was capable of adjusting the coloration, he favored completing its construction over giving it his personal touch, so the crystal retained its original red coloration.

Artoria Pendragon

Invisible Air: Barrier of the Wind King

Rank: C
Type: Anti-Personnel Noble Phantasm
Range: 1-2
Maximum Target: 1 object

It is a sheath that conceals her sword by refracting light using many layers of wind. This is closer to a Bounded Field than a true Noble Phantasm. It’s effective in close-quarters combat due to not only the opponent normally being unable to determine the range and trajectory of Artoria’s weapon, but it also enhances the damage and accuracy of the slashes. However, the latter can be negated if the opponent has a way to determine its shape without needing vision as the sword is merely being concealed rather than being made truly invisible.

This Noble Phantasm can be used as a long-range weapon and projectile weapon with the benefits of damage being constant and Artoria’s strength & magical energy not affecting the performance of it. It is also capable of creating invisible walls of air. Within the Holy Grail Wars, this Noble Phantasm has helped her conceal her own identity due to the sword being too recognizable by enemy Servants and Masters. She can still use this Noble Phantasm even if Excalibur has been sealed away.

Excalibur: Sword of Promised Victory

Rank: A++
Type: Anti-Fortress Noble Phantasm
Range: 1-99
Maximum Target: 1000 people

This is Artoria’s greatest Noble Phantasm held by the Faeries of the Planet and given to her by the Faerie of the Lake, Vivian. Excalibur is the pinnacle of Holy Swords - a sword on the same level as Divine Spirits - and is the crystallized hopes of humanity, thus making it the strongest of its kind. This is a Divine Construct created by the planet as a conjecture of all of its light. Excalibur was created to counter foes with the power to destroy the entire world. The energy in the blade energy enables Thaumaturgical actions on the level of Divine Spirits. According to Professor Nemo, the blade receives energy from the Earth’s Core in order to deal with threats to the planet.

It works by turning all of Artoria’s Magical Energy into light, increasing its kinetic energy by converging and accelerating it, and shooting what looks like a giant beam of light from its tip similar to a directed energy weapon. The sheer power of this beam of light superheats the space around its front, incinerating, vaporizing and even annihilating every atom in its path (supported as well here). Artoria can also fire a smaller variation of the blast right out of Invisible Air for a surprise attack. Artoria can also fire several smaller blasts at once. She is quite skilled at using the blade in combo-like sequences.

Due to the sheer energy and area of effect, this Noble Phantasm cannot be used consecutively and freely in a Holy Grail War setting with it normally only being usable usually only once or twice. Saber can use Excalibur more freely as a “Top Servant”.

However one of its most important aspects is its Thirteen Restraints of the Round Table. It is composed of thirteen bounded fields, each representing a Knight of the Round Table, meant to restrict Excalibur’s power. Each seal represents a condition that must be met in order for it to be lifted and thus release more of the holy sword’s power. The restraints are as follows:

Knight

Restraint

Bedivere

The enemy must be more powerful than oneself

Palamedes

The battle must be one-on-one

Lancelot

The enemy must not be an elemental

Mordred

The battle must be one against evil

Galahad

The battle must not involve personal gain

Gaheris

The battle must not be against Humanity

Gareth

The battle must not be inhumane

Agravain

The battle must be for truth

Kay

The battle must be to live

Unknown

One’s comrades-in-arms must be courageous

Unknown

The battle must not be against one pure of heart

Unknown

The battle must be an honorable one

Artoria

The battle must be to defend the human order

Avalon: The Everdistant Utopia

Rank: EX

Type: Barrier Noble Phantasm

Protection Target: 1 Person

This is Excalibur’s sheath. A Noble Phantasm that was lost to Artoria through time that was excavated at Cornwall. This Noble Phantasm gives Artoria limited immortality in that she can’t age, can survive wounds that would be fatal to normal people and even regenerate passively. But when she activates and calls its True Name, Avalon disintegrates into particles and surrounds Artoria, essentially sending the user to the Land of the Faeries and shutting the person off from all physical interference.

This Noble Phantasm in itself is a True Magic, and it is potent enough that not even any True Magic/Sorcery can get past it (i.e. Kaleidoscope, Heaven’s Feel and Magic Blue). This allows her to also nullify the effects involving the operation of parallel worlds, multi-dimensional communication and even attacks from a higher dimension (all these all the way up to the 6th dimension). Once she shuts herself in, no one would be able to reach her. Avalon can even reflect back attacks such as Enuma Elish, which is an Anti-World NP that compresses the entire universe and cuts all the way to Void Space (see cosmology).

Avalon’s healing properties are quite potent. According to Merlin, the wielder of Avalon will not have any blood spilled. When used by Shirou, it healed slashes he took from Archer and even healed Kiritsugu from a blow that should have crushed his heart done by Kirei. It even healed Kiritsugu of continuous damage done to his body by his magic. It could even heal Shirou from a cut through his spine and even deal with Gae Bolg’s killing curse. The only thing it cannot heal are wounds from Excalibur itself.

Caliburn: Golden Sword of Assured Victory

Rank: B+ (Conditionally A+)

Type: Anti-Unit

Protection Target: -

The Sword of Selection, the proof of Artoria’s rightful appointment as king. After lifting the sword from the stone, she went on to go on adventures and train with it for another decade before finally ascending the throne of Camelot, hence her nostalgia and stronger attachment to it than Excalibur. After taking a hold of Caliburn, Artoria ceased to age and became perpetually stuck at the physical age of fifteen, fulfilling Merlin’s warning that once she lifted the sword that she would start to become something inhuman.

Caliburn’s Anti-Unit designation as a Noble Phantasm does not refer to the number of targets it can strike, but instead points to the one who will have ownership over it from now on. And functionally it is identical to Excalibur, just with inferior output. But as Artoria began to grow into a proper king, its power grew and became appropriate as a holy sword.

While Caliburn was lost to Artoria in life as part of her trials to gain Excalibur, she would wield it once more in the Fate Route after the sword was traced by her Master, Shirou Emiya. Its imperfect projection alone allowed an injured Shirou to cut off the arm of Berserker, and when in the hands of Artoria herself could destroy seven of his lives all at once. Caliburn can also be Overloaded to briefly unleash the same level of firepower as Excalibur, but will begin to disintegrate immediately after as it cannot withstand Artoria’s magical energy.

Yamaha V-Max

In the events of the Fourth Holy Grail War, Artoria received a Modified Yamaha V-Max From Kiritsugu. It can reach 6000 rpm, and achieve flight speed. It is fast enough to keep up with Iskandar's Gordius Wheel at 300+kph and match it. If a human tried to ride her motorcycle they'd die. The modified Yamaha is durable enough to withstand being ridden through a hail of trees at high speeds. Saber can also use mana transfer to cover the motorcycle in armor, which looks cool:

Craft Essences

Within Chaldea, Servants have access to Conceptual Mystic Codes known as Craft Essences. By making use of conceptual magecraft, Craft Essences can grant increased stats and additional abilities/buffs to the Servant equipping them. They are formed from the conceptual substances of people, objects, stories, and Mysteries.

There are several hundred available Craft Essences for any Servant to equip in Fate/Grand Order. And while Artoria herself hasn’t been shown using a specific Craft Essence in her time in Chaldea, many Craft Essences are based around her. Servants have also made use of Craft Essences in the story when necessary, so here are just some of the notable CEs Artoria could have coming into the fight (Reminder that she can only equip one at a time):

Crown of The Star: Artoria’s personal Bond CE, the very crown of her kingship. Increases ATK by 15%.

Beyond A Wish: A Craft Essence that holds a memory of Artoria and Shirou Emiya. Increases crit star absorption by 600% and Buster card performance by 15%.

First Sunrise: An image of Artoria viewing the first sunrise of the New Year. Increases Buster card performance by 20% and starts the battle with 50% NP Gauge.

Leisurely Strolling: An image of Artoria celebrating a summer festival. Increases crit star absorption by 600% and Arts card performance by 15%.

Present for My Master: An image of Artoria celebrating Christmas with their Master. Increases crit star absorption by 200% and healing received by 50%.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest: Artoria witnessing their Master terrorizing Mash & Olga Marie. Increases QP gained and increases damage by 19.

Divine Construct: A Craft Essence simply depicting Excalibur. When equipped by a Saber, increase NP damage by 25%.

Extremely Spicy Mapo Tofu: Yorokobe, shounen. The signature dish of a Chinese restaurant in Fuyuki and favorite food of a certain priest. Increases healing received by 20%.

Black Keys: The symbol of E-Rank gacha luck. The red, blue, and green variants translate to 10% performance increases to Buster, Arts, and Quick Cards respectively.

Limited/Zero Over: An image of Pseudo-Servant Senji Muramasa. Increases Buster card performance by 30%.

Formal Craft: An image of Rin Tohsaka displaying her mastery of her magecraft. Increases Arts card performance by 30%.

Imaginary Around: An image of Sakura Matou in Imaginary Number Space. Increases Quick card performance by 30%.

Volumen Hydrargyrum: An image of Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald and his titular Mystic Code. Grants Invincibility against three attacks & increases damage by 500.

Necromancy: An image depicting Kairi Sisigou performing his titular magecraft. 50% chance to activate Guts after being defeated. Can be activated multiple times.

Parted Sea: The memory of a certain man giving hope to his people by splitting the Red Sea. Grants Evasion on one attack and increases Debuff resistance by 10%.

With One Strike: Features Tanaka encouraging you at the dojo. Ignores Evasion and increases Quick card performance by 10%.

The Have-Nots: An image of Shinji Matou studying magecraft. Increases Buff Removal resistance by 20%.

Halloween Arrangement: An image of Mash Kyrielight setting up Halloween decorations across Chaldea. Draws the attention of all enemies on the Servant and increases Defense by 80% for one attack turn.

Water Gun Battle: A summer memory of Cu Chulainn, EMIYA, and Gilgamesh having fun at a waterpark resort. Also Gilgamesh needs floaties lmao. Ignores Defense and increases Quick and Buster by 8%.

Deception: Ingenious tricks, as one sees fit. The truth before you is naught but lies. Increases Debuff Success Rate by 5%.

Belle of the Upper Echelons: An image depicting Tohsaka Aoi. Increases received buff success rate by 15%.

As Craft Essence stat bonuses & status effects are closely tied to a gacha game, here are what each of the terms above translate to:

ATK up: Overall attack power increases.

Increase Damage: Increases damage by a set amount.

Increase Defense: Increases defense by a certain percentage.

  • Ignore Defense bypasses all defense buffs.

Critical Stars: Represents your chances of landing a critical hit per command card. Generated after attacking an opponent with a command card.

  • Crit Star Absorption: Increases the amount of Crit Stars your Servant will absorb when Crit Stars are distributed amongst the party.

NP Gauge: Energy reserved for Noble Phantasm usage that all command cards can build up to, to one degree or another. Certain Servant skills can also expend the NP Gauge.

  • NP damage & NP Gain can also be increased.

Buster Cards: Command cards that deal 50% more damage, but generate very little, if at all, Crit Stars & NP normally.

Arts Cards: Command cards that deal 1x or “baseline” damage, but generate a lot of NP.

Quick Cards: Command cards that deal 80% normal damage, but generate a lot of Crit Stars.

Invincibility: A status effect that completely blocks any form of damage from a direct attack, but can be bypassed with Ignore Invincibility & status ailment damage.

Evasion: Similar to Invincibility, it allows the Servant to evade an attack and prevent taking any kind of damage.

  • Both Ignore Evasion and Ignore Invincibility counter this buff.

Buff Success Rate Up: Increases the chances of not-guaranteed buffs successfully landing.

Debuff Resistance: Increases the chances of being unafflicted with debuffs & harmful status effects.

  • Debuff Immunity prevents any debuffs or status ailments from being applied whatsoever as long as it is active.

Debuff Success Rate Up: Increases the chances of a debuff or status ailment successfully landing on a target.

Buff Removal Resistance: Increases the chances of preventing buffs being removed by an enemy skill.

Taunt Up: Forces all enemies to target one Servant.

Guts: Revives a Servant after being defeated with a certain amount of health restored.

Command Codes

Similar to Craft Essences, Command Codes are equipable Mystic Codes, just applied to individual command cards. This means that for all five command cards per Servant, up to five Command Codes can be equipped at any given time, each activating when attacking with the engraved card. Again while we technically haven’t seen Artoria (or any Servant really) canonically use Command Codes, they are available for all residents of Chaldea. A list for all Command Codes can be found here. As there are several dozen Command Codes, we’ll only be listing a select few here:

Code: Mortal: Increases damage to Human opponents by 5%.

Code: Brute: Increases damage to Wild Beast opponents by 5%.

Code: Corpse: Increases damage to Undead opponents by 5%.

Code: Evil: Increases damage to Demonic opponents by 5%.

Code: Nimbus: Increases damage to Divine opponents by 5%.

Code: Cure: Removes the latest ailment debuff.

Code: Bless: Recover HP by 100.

Legendary Beast of the Grove: Inflicts Curse on the target for three turns.

True Crimson Immortal Maiden's Command Seal: Inflicts Burn on target for three turns and increases critical damage by 5%.

Command Seal of Faintly-Corrupted Delusions: Inflicts Poison for three turns on a target, but deals 100 damage to self.

Destructive Star: Increases NP damage by 10% for a turn and increases damage against targets with the Sky Attribute.

Crest of Titan's Pit: Increases NP generation by 5%.

Hachiyō no Kagami: Grants immunity to Immobility Debuffs once for two turns.

Eternity Mirror: Grants immunity to Sealing Debuffs once for two turns.

The Flower at the Apex of Heaven that Transcends Void: Ignores Invincibility and increases critical damage by 10%.

Install Skills

In both Fate/Extella and Extella Link, Servants can gain Install Skills when clearing missions. They come in three tiers of rarity (normal, α, and Σ), and then are further subdivided into four different skill types. Red skills are offensive based, Blue skills are defensive based, Yellow refers to add-on/miscellaneous skills, and White are Double Install Skills, which require 2 specific Σ tier Install Skills at +10 each. Install Skills can stack onto one another for a maximum level of +10 (ex: Obstinate is at +0, but gaining three more Obstinate skills after a mission would boost the existing skill to Obstinate +3).

A lower rarity skill can be synthesized into the next tier once you have two stacks of the same skill at +10 and combining them (ex: Collector Σ can be gained once you’re in possession of two stacks of Collector α +10). Past the Σ tier are Double Install Skills, which are +10 by default. Two Install Skills of the same color can give each other a boost when connected together. Here is a table of all Install Skills:

Instant Scroll

The version of Artoria summoned by the Chaldea Security Organization is in possession of an instant scroll, given to her by Leonardo Da Vinci. The instant scroll makes use of magical energy to summon Phantasmal Creatures from Artoria’s past, such as reanimated skeletons, ghosts, daemons, and dragons, some of which are more powerful than weaker Demon Gods.

Phantasmal Creatures are existences born from human ideation separated into three ranks: Monstrous, Phantasmal, and Divine, however dragons sit above them all regardless. Dragons specifically are less monster or creature and more akin to natural phenomena and are conceptual in nature. Higher ranking dragons can embody natural cycles and obstacles while others can represent the very will of the land itself, embodying thoughts of self-destruction.

Abilities

Luke Skywalker

Stamina & Endurance

Luke has many reasons he’s known as among the galaxy’s best, but one that can’t go ignored is his persistence in not giving in. For his endurance, he’s consistently shown to operate or keep fighting despite receiving fatal wounds. He pushed through having several splinters of what’s described as red-hot metal both cut and stabbed into his left arm and deflected The Hidden One’s Force Lightning immediately despite being slammed into a pillar. He was able to push through having C’baoth’s Force Lightning burn his muscles and even could endure Force Lightning from multiple Nightsisters at once (Luke has a habit of enduring Force Lightning blasts funnily enough).

But that’s only the surface of how far Luke can push himself, as he could defeat Caedus while venom was being pumped into him and his knee was failing him. He even was able to battle Kueller despite taking an explosion that blew up and disintegrated his X-Wing and left his skin burnt and several broken bones. The Grandmaster was even able to keep battling Abeloth despite being burnt by magma and having his chest having what was described to be a ‘searing ache around a fist-sized scorch hole’ while his Force Essence was leaking from dozens of smaller wounds across his body.

Of course, Luke’s stamina cannot be undersold either, as he was stated to be capable of deflecting blaster bolts indefinitely, which (while ‘indefinitely’ is hyperbolic) goes to show how long Luke can maintain himself in combat. Luke could even keep himself going for days at a time despite him being deprived of food, water, other bodily demands and his everyday senses. He can also stay in Beyond Shadows for weeks (due to how time works there) in a half dead state.

The Force

Before creation had come into being, inside the primal unduality of existence, The Father of Lights sung forth the first notes of a song. And from the source of light and life blossomed the Force; permeating all of existence as time began its desultory flow. The Force is everything, and everything is the Force. Within it's metaphysical, natural and spiritual nature, duality does not exist. All is one and one is all. “Light and Dark” are no more than nomenclature: words that describe how little one understands. The Force is above those words, and concepts. It is infinite. Existing as a thing both within and without, limitless and sublime, and wholly beyond comprehension. All aspects of the universe are contained with the Force. It may be a non sentient energy field, the sum of all creation. It may be an eternal entity, knowing and unknowable. It may be both of these and more; it may be something else entirely.

All interpretations of The Force that are made are fundamentally and ultimately distinct from The Force, as beings upon interpreting the Force create separate conceptions from the Force that are not the Force, which includes every single conception of it, including thought itself. Call it the Universe, or the Force, or Existence: those are only words. They are half truths. They are lies. The truth is always greater than the words we use to describe it. Throughout time, it's been conceptualized by many names (e.g. the Unity, the Way, the Power, Magic), but none reflect its true nature, which defies explanation.

The Force exists within a higher plane, transcending space and time; flowing through the cause and effect of the past, present, and future attributed to infinite possibilities. The Force also extends throughout Hyperspace, and Otherspace. When Barriss Offee used the Bota to achieve a form of Oneness with the Force, she was capable of sensing beyond three, even four dimensions, and understood that the universe was of an entire piece, each part connected to all the others, webbed together by vibrating strands of the Force that stretched through dimensions utterly beyond the ken of her senses.

Like most forms of energy, the Force can be manipulated, and it is the knowledge and predisposition to do so that empowers the Jedi Knights and the Sith. This is due to the fact the Force is accessible to all living beings through the presence of midi-chlorians in their cells. Midi-chlorians are microscopic life forms that reside inside living cells. The more midi-chlorians inhabiting a being's cells, the more the being is able to connect to the Force. These midi-chlorians also appear to possess a single unified consciousness linked through the Pneuma and can be influenced by the host’s mental state

A common misconception held is that midi-chlorians were Force-carrying particles, when in fact they functioned more as translators, interlocutors of the will of the Force. Force-Energy is simply required for life and midi-chlorians are its biological vector. Some species are more attuned to the Force than others. To control the Force, one must be mindful of its three basic techniques: Control (the manipulation of one's internal Force strength), Sense (detection of the Force in the external world), and Alter (manipulation of matter through the Force)

The Force had long ago been interpreted into several unique aspects: the Cosmic Force, the Living Force, the Unifying Force, the Physical Force, the Dark, and much more.

“The Cosmic Force”, otherwise known as the Pneuma, is the Jedi's understanding of the Supreme Maker (e.g. the Father of Lights). The Pneuma is the set of all conceptualizations in any mortal mind; connected to a collective unconscious. The Cosmic Force is a "unifying gestalt", a metaphysical vision of the entire galactic whirlpool and the threads that comprise all of reality. Midi-chlorians, which were birthed from the Wellspring of Life, are the foundation of what connects the Living Force and the Cosmic Force. All energy from the Living Force passes into the Cosmic Force. This includes not only the energy of the Living Force at a particular point in time, but the energy of all things that have ever lived in the galaxy. It transcends normal conceptions of time and space; connecting to what is, what was, and what has yet to come. It is identified as fate, for beings with limited understanding of the Cosmic Force.

The Living Force, otherwise known as the Anima, is generated by living beings. It allows Jedi to connect with the plants and animals that inhabit the world around them. It is the energy of all things that have ever lived. The Living Force is raw and close at hand. It is the life energy tingling around them as they pass among plants and animals in a walk through the jungle. When beings die, it is sensed through the Living Force. All tangible Force abilities are techniques from the Living Force. Jedi who believe in the tenets of the Living Force rely on their instincts and become attuned to the living things around them. They are mindful of the future and what might result from their current actions, but they remain focused on the present instead of allowing anxieties about the past and future to cloud their awareness

Once a living being dies, all is removed. Life passes through the Living Force into the Cosmic Force and becomes one with it. One powers the other. One is renewed by the other. Abilities of the Body are drawn from the Living Force, emanating from the very cells and affecting the physical structures of others. Through the Living Force, certain Jedi are able to retain their identities after death, manifesting as Force spirits while still becoming one with the Force

“The Unifying Force”, otherwise known as the Aperion, is a vast cosmic power. It is the stars and galaxies, the rippling surface of space and time. It is this voice that whispers destiny, allowing a Jedi to walk in the past or see the future, leaving their body behind. It teaches that the Force is a single power and has neither a light side nor a dark side. The Unifying Force has no sides and does not take sides, treating all living creatures equally. This view has been supported by the likes of Vergere and Emperor Palpatine.

Those who follow the Unifying Force tend to keep their eyes on the future and possibilities, leading them to act in ways to fulfill a destiny instead of focusing on the here and now, like those who follow the Living Force. Through this, a Jedi can sense the past and the future. Thus, precognition is an aspect of the Unifying Force. Jedi who studied the Unifying Force understood that the future was constantly in motion, but sought to understand this motion and develop a sense of their place within it.

Abilities of the Mind are also drawn from the Unifying Force. These operate on a different plane than the physical--they exist in the realm of thought and memory, allowing to induce their targets with visions of infinity. The Unifying Force dictates all physical phenomena; all of matter, all of gravity, all of electromagnetism, encompassing all of space and time, and much more.

The Physical Force is the facet of the Force that allows a Jedi to manipulate objects around them. Abilities from the Alter techniques are drawn from the Physical Force. It was possible to alter the Physical Force, merging items and objects into something entirely new. This facet complemented the Living Force and the Unifying Force. Jedi would learn to channel the power of the Physical Force for a more effective defense

“The Dark” is oblivion; absolute nothingness. It is final, perpetual, ineluctable nonexistence. An abstraction that embodies the eventual end of all things. When compared to the Dark, all of existence is an illusion. (Further Explanation).

Luke is a master of the Force, being arguably more skilled in its usage than his father ever was. Near the end of his life, Luke was gifted with a vision of the Force that allowed him to view all aspects of the Force and come to learn that all parts of it are necessary. The experience humbled him and gave him greater understanding than he ever had prior.

Telekinesis

By utilizing the Force, Luke gains the ability to manipulate matter and move it through space, with such precision that he can control molecules, transmute elements, and even make subatomic alterations to objects. A Force Sensitive's Telekinesis can be used offensively, and target internal organs such as the heart, the larynx, the brain, etc. The Force can tear targets apart where they stand, disarm them of their weapons, and even crush a victim to death alongside any armor they are donning, or buckle the hulls of the star ships

He is also capable of tossing his lightsaber across great distances and returning it to his hand, as well as rooting himself in place with the Force to prevent himself from being sucked into the vacuum of space or throttled around a tumbling ship

Force Push & Force Repulse

With techniques such as push and repulse, a Force-sensitive can send out destructive waves of energy which disintegrate bodies potentially so thoroughly it destroys them to the atomic level.

Force Barrier

With Force Barrier, Luke can erect shields of Force Energy that can protect against heat comparable to the outer layers of a star. His father before him during the Clone Wars era was capable of keeping a barrier in place for nearly an hour against a blast that could tear the body apart and melt one down to the bones

Immovability

By utilizing Telekinesis, a Force Sensitive could become an immovable object, and withstand the push or pull of anything that attempts to shift them away from their position. Immovability has been stated to turn you into the very essence of an immovable object - unable to be dislodged by Lando’s asteroid tuggers, Megador’s sixteen ion engines and a black hole at the center of the galaxy. Luke has used Immovability to deal with extreme weather and strong bursts of air, keeping himself rooted in the ground. His father used the technique to prevent himself from being sent out into space.

Flight

Luke can use the Force to alter the mass of his own body, allowing him to levitate and fly through the air.

Force Senses

By expanding his consciousness across his environment, Luke can receive a heightened sense of cosmic awareness as the Living Force reveals itself to him. He is capable of using this to heighten his natural senses such as his hearing, or detect things his eyes cannot see as to better anticipate attacks or even sense the thoughts of others. With this he could detect unique life signatures to distinguish friend from foe, receive a preemptive warning of imminent danger, and in some circumstances detect events from lightyears away.

Luke’s proficiency with this ability is particularly impressive, as he was able to stretch out his awareness across an entire fleet and feel the presence of two to three million beings. He could even detect beings in Hyperspace. His senses were in fact so honed that he could sense Lumiya behind Jacen’s attempt to cloak her presence with the Force

Telepathy

With Telepathy, Luke can read the minds, thoughts, and emotions of other beings, as well as communicate with them. As seen above, he was able to telepathically communicate with Leia for help, and his skill only improved over time. His skill with this ability was so impressive that he could call all Jedi from across the galaxy, after a long mediation.

Precognition

By utilizing the Unifying Force, Luke can perceive events in the future before they occur. Like his father before him who could witness visions of the near and far future as early as his youth, Luke was able to use his precognitive abilities to aid him in dog fights, and he was able to extend his sight further to foresee the birth and life of his son Ben Skywalker.

After the resurrected Palpatine was defeated once and for all, Luke could see the future of Leia’s three children and how they would grow into the next generation of Jedi. His precognition was in fact thought to be so absolute that Han believed anything Luke could not perceive no other being in the galaxy could hope to see. With Postcognition, Luke can even extend his perception to the flow of time itself; peering into a target’s or location’s past.

Shatterpoint

Shatterpoint is the ability to detect faults in the Force, creating a “critical point” which the user can shatter to change the course of battle. These shatterpoints not only manifested as weak spots on physical objects, but also as points in scenarios that could alter the course of entire events. When utilizing this technique, the fault lines reality itself become perceptible, and one can find shatterpoints so significant in status that they can single handedly determine the fate of the universe.

Luke learned this technique himself, and he could use it to sense the stress points in physical structures, and destroy a group of droids by applying pressure to their weak spots.

Force Healing

With Force Healing, Luke can make various alterations to the body such as healing injuries, curing ailments, negating the effects of drugs, or even nullifying one’s own perception of pain. With this power Luke can do things such as curing exhaustion, or heal damage such as ruptured blood vessels inside his brain.

Force Amplification

With Force Amplification all Jedi can enhance their physical statistics to perform superhuman feats of strength, speed, and agility. One can even forgo their lightsaber for a time and tear apart armored droids with their hands.

Force Speed

Force Speed allows the user to be able to give themselves bursts of greater speed, allowing them to move much faster for short periods of time then usually applicable. This can also be applied to one’s perception of time, allowing one to see everything slower, as Luke himself did against the assassin droid Guri.

Force Jump

Force Jump allows Luke to be able to amplify the distance to which he is physically able to jump, giving himself a jumping height at least eight times that of a normal person, giving him greater flexibility in a height in terms of crossing great distances.

Affect Mind

With this, Luke is able to manipulate the minds of his enemies - using it to influence their thoughts with his mind trick, allowing him to persuade them to do as he wishes. However, in addition to merely being able to manipulate his enemy’s thoughts, proficient users of the Mind Trick have been able to use it to create illusion, such as his father Darth Vader who deceived his inexperienced self into maiming his friend. Luke has showcased this ability by conjuring a mental image of a monstrous turbolift, and projecting a false image of a spacecraft. As for his proficiency with mind control he was capable of overpowering the minds of an entire colony which contained at least trillions of inhabitants.

He should have an even greater command of this ability than Joorus C’baoth, who was capable of controlling an entire planet with a population of twenty-eight million. Furthermore, Darth Sidious, who he has long since surpassed, was able to dominate the minds of millions and even a planet with a population of nineteen billion. Clouding the minds of all the Jedi was also not beyond his capabilities. He should as well be superior to Skere Kaan, who was using his Force Persuasion to influence the minds of the Brotherhood of Darkness which numbered 20,000.

Cronal even believed that with his knowledge of the Dark Side combined with Luke’s powerful body, he could take control of the entire Galaxy - one numbering in the quadrillions. With weaker Force-users being able to take control of the entire universe, manipulate the very fabric of Hyperspace; turning it into unreality, and negate resistances.

Tutaminis

With Tutaminis Luke can absorb various forms of energy including those generated by Force Lightning and even Lightsaber blades. After taking the energy into himself he can turn them back against his attacker or funnel the power into his Force abilities to amplify their strength. Luke has showcased this ability against the Emperor on the second Death Star. He also seemingly used this ability to absorb blasts from an AT-AT.

Force Stasis

With the ability Force Stasis (also known as Force Stun) Luke can overload the senses of his target and pin them in place. He has seemingly used this to pin Darth Caedus in place, as well as another female Sith.

Electric Judgment

In contrast to the Sith’s use of Force Lightning, which harnesses the power of the Dark Side to project bolts of electricity, Luke is able to invoke his sense of justice and righteousness to perform Electric Judgement. Although not commonly used in a lethal manner as typical Force Lightning is, the power generated by Electric Judgement is enough to render foes unconscious. His command of this technique was so impressive that he knocked out a Vong who was wearing armor that could deflect blaster fire and lightsaber strikes.

Matter Control

A Jedi’s control of the Force requires them to be capable of precisely altering objects varying from the molecular scale, to even subatomic configuration of particles. It is implied that a Force user can wield this application of the Force offensively, and potentially atomize an opponent with their raw power. Jedi Padawans such as Jacen Solo were trained to manipulate molecules and transmute elements in their Force training. Through the Force power Art of The Small, a Force user can shrink their presence to that of an atom to gain unparalleled stealth capabilities, perceive the universe on a molecular scale, cure ailments, or construct proteins and rebuild cells.

Mind-Walking

(Art by Nice_Satisfaction651)

Through a technique known as “Mind-Walking” Luke is capable of stepping into a timeless place described as being “beyond shadows”, allowing him to freely teleport to any position in realspace. Luke could even do battle with the Force essence of Abeloth in this realm beyond shadows.

Flow Walking

With Flow-Walking one can witness events from the past and the future in real time, and even make some alterations to future events with enough skill, with the range of this technique going as far as sixty years in the past. This ability is able to be used in combative encounters.

Doppelganger

Luke can project himself across physical space in the form of a “Doppelganger” that is indistinguishable from his original body, with substance and form that is identical to himself, that is even capable of taking actions and interacting with objects or people. He used this ability to project himself to Leia initially in the form of Darth Vader, and has showcased the capability to send forth his doppelganger as far as Hyperspace to confront Cronal.

Fold Space

“Fold Space” is a technique used by the Aing-Tii which allowed them to bypass the need for travel by instead “envisioning” objects being displaced elsewhere in an instant. By using the Force to “Fold Space” Luke can cause objects to vanish from another’s grasp in an instant. This ability can be used to send objects anywhere in the same star system.

Sever Force

Sever Force is the ability to sever one’s connection to the various aspects of the Force that grant Jedi and Sith their abilities. Luke and Leia used this technique to sever Palpatine’s connection to the Dark Side, causing him to fall victim to his own Force Storm.

Force Light

By drawing the Light Side of the Force into himself, Luke can become a pylon of Lightside energy that passively purges and destroys Dark Side energy within his vicinity. In his battle with Sidious, the Lightside emanated by his aura was overpowering his enemy’s connection to the Dark Side.

Hassat-Durr/Lightning Rod

The hassat-durr technique suffuses the body with a very low level of electromagnetic radiation. The user produces radiation as an interaction between the Force and their central nervous system. The energies a student produces early in their study of the technique attract lightning much like a lightning rod. Luke used this to turn the Jade Shadow ship into a lightning rod, making it safe from a massive storm. Later one, when injured, he used the lightning rod technique to endure the lightning of several Nightsisters and channels it into a rancor, all while they were amped by a Dark Side Nexus.

Anya-Seff/Brain Dead

Ayna-Seff filled the user's body with a low level of electromagnetic radiation. "Ayna-seff" translates into Basic as "dead brain", as it makes brain activity undetectable.

Rebuke

With Rebuke, a Force Sensitive can redirect Force Powers, targeting them against the aggressor.

Force Rage

By drawing power from his negative emotions, Luke can generate immense strength fueled by the Dark Side, allowing him to kill opponents who were stronger than him in a single strike. Luke used this ability against his father during their battle on the second Death Star.

Animal Bond/Beast Control

Beast Control is a particular application of Affect Mind which can function on animals. Other Force Sensitives such as Bane have also subdued the minds of animals such as Bull Rancors and Drexls. One of the most impressive feats of Beast Control was performed by Jedi Master Shaak Ti, who used it to call the Felucian Abyss to her aid, and was capable of defending it from Starkiller’s own attacks on its mind

White Current

The White Current is a form of the Force, connecting to the mind, body, and spirit. Using the White Current is compared to opening up to the Force. The Current allows those who follow it to conjure illusions which could only be broken through the Current itself. The White Current offers little for telekinesis, but a plethora of control over the mind. Luke was taught to connect to it by the peaceful Fallanassi, though his usage of it was considered forceful. With his connection he learned Force Immersion.

The White Current can be weaponized to create Illusions that can overcome the mental defenses of even the most trained masters. These illusions can and will kill their target. Abeloth tricked the Fallanassi on using this method on the Lost Tribe of the Sith, and the result was many of them left dead. Luke himself was able to break out of these illusions (a testament to his resistance). In theory any user of the White Current could abuse its abilities in this manner.

Abuse, however, is not the only path for the Current. Adepts with the Current can use it to bolster their Force Stealth capabilities, or they can “ride” the Current. Riding the Current is going with its flow, and doing so causes automatic concealment for the user any time they are attacked. Force Immersion kicks in, hiding them from their enemy. While “riding” is an option, so is surrender. Surrendering to the Current means being one with it, formless. As Bruce Lee would say, “be Water my friend”. Complete surrender results in the Current bolstering any Force abilities meant to be used by the Force user on their own body, like teleportation or amplification.

Force Immersion and Cloaking

Force Immersion was a specialized technique developed by the Fallanassi, by which a skilled being could hide themselves in the White Current. Doing so renders themselves undetectable by any means, organic, or artificial. Luke learned this, though he can also cloak himself and objects with the Force without the White Current.

Mechu-Deru

A Sith ability meant to grant the user understanding and control over mechanical objects. Luke learned of the ability after the Dark Side user Cronal infected his robotic arm. Ironically this backfired on Cornal, as it resulted in Luke choking him.

Force Stealth

Force Stealth is the power to hide a user’s aptitude to use the Force, or even their entire presence from other Force-sensitives. Luke’s skill with this is so great he can choose certain individuals and allow them to sense him while hiding himself from the galaxy.

Ionize

A stream of Ions released by a Force-sensitive meant to disable or destroy droids. It normally appears as a purple stream and the energy emitted from the user could effectively destroy many droids at once. Luke employed this during combat with droids.

Mnemotherapy

An ability meant to visualize memories to free a target of possession. Luke used this to free Callista’s soul (a former lover of his) from Abeloth. By using all his power, Luke ripped Callista’s soul from her possessed body and allowed her to pass on.

Battle Meld

Luke has used Battlemeld in conjunction with other Jedi to bolster their morale and his own in combat.

Non-Physical Interaction

Alter abilities such as Telekinesis are facets of the Living Force, which constitutes the substance of spiritual beings. Due to the spiritual and energetic nature of the Force, Force Sensitives can do battle against spirits, such as when Revan fought the sith spirit of Ajunta Pall. It also said that Luke could demolish Exar Kun’s Sith Spirit in a direct battle, further supporting his ability to interact with non-physical entities. While not entirely canon to Legends, Starkiller was able to destroy Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Force Ghost with Force Lightning.

Force Spirit

The Force Ghost is the soul and essence of a Force sensitive that has denied the will of the Force upon death, but still is able to interact with those who are still alive. Those who have come to terms with death and have used this technique to preserve their identity. They manipulate their own Pneuma to avoid getting absorbed into The Force. Luke came back as a Force Spirit to help his descendant Cade Skywalker in his time of need. It has been shown in Legends that Force Spirits are capable of fighting and using the Force, alongside other material like the Force Unleashed expansion. In this what if, Obi-Wan’s Force Ghost fights Starkiller, using both the Force and his Lightsaber.

Potential Abilities

Although Luke has not showcased these abilities personally, he should know each of these and how to perform them competently. Among these examples are those abilities found within the Book of Anger, which Luke studied extensively to the point he surpassed his father in regard to Dark Side knowledge, potentially even rivaling Palpatine. He has also come across the Jedi Path and would have access to its knowledge as well.

Blind: A burst of Force energy that overwhelms an enemy’s optic nerves.

Force Lightning: A blast fueled by one’s anger that is so potent it can render enemies to ash.

Convection: By channeling heat into the limbs the user can set enemies ablaze with a touch.

Cryokinesis: By touching an opponent and siphoning their heat, they may render them into a frozen corpse.

Drain Life: The user can reach out and siphon the life force of other beings, before funneling the energy into themself. Siphoning one’s life in this manner is to destroy their atoms and devour their Living Force, which composes the bodies of spiritual beings.

Death Field: An amplified form of Drain Life which summons a sphere of dark side energy and withers those within range to lifeless husks in an instant.

Mind Shard: A psychic attack that leaves the opponent vulnerable to a lightsaber blow.

Memory Walk: A technique that forces victims to relive their most dismal and humiliating memories via a telepathic link.

Hatred: By making use of one’s negative emotions the user can project an aura to render others catatonic.

Horror: By projecting a vision of infinity the user can induce horror and insanity.

Crucitorn: A technique which allows the user to detach their mind from sunsation and render their senses dull to pain.

Deadly Sight: A Sith technique that harnesses the user’s fury into an intense glare that can vaporize opponents.

Morichro: A technique that can slow the functions of another’s body and place them in a state of suspended animation.

Art of the Small: By shrinking one’s presence to the size of an atom, one can gain an increased aptitude for stealth and cure ailments via manually rebuilding cells.

Combustion: By manually vibrating the molecules of the target, the user can cause objects to explode, including another’s limbs.

Battle Meditation: A precognitive ability that can anticipate the course of entire battles and allows the user to alter the outcome of them via envisioning their desired result.

Resistances

Mind Manipulation, Memory Manipulation, and Illusion Creation: Luke should scale above the likes of Obi-Wan who resisted a Planetary Force Nexus he compared to an army of Sith attacking his mind. He has as well overcome the brainwashing of Dev Sibwarra, and later trained his mental resistances against Leia. He should be naturally resistant to the technique Affect Mind due to his Jedi training. Most Jedi also have Thought Shields to protect themselves from mental attacks.

Precognition and Fate Manipulation: As a part of lightsaber combat training, Force Sensitives are taught how to combat precognition by obfuscating their opponent’s visions of the future. Luke was capable of resisting Cronal’s Dark Sight, an ability which he described as allowing him to perceive countless possibilities and then create the exact future he desires. This ability had such precision and efficiency it could be used to decide the outcome of battles, down to the exact means soldiers would die. He showed the capacity to completely go against the fate Cronal had foreseen for him, not falling to the Dark Side as he had attempted to write.

Telekinesis: The First thing learned by Padawans in Force training is how to resist Telekinesis.

Transmutation: Having power in the Force allows one to resist a Sith artifact that can forcefully mutate others into Rakghouls.

Fear Manipulation and Madness Manipulation: Immune to fear inducing effects such as Force Horror which functions by inducing insanity with forceful visions of infinity.

Sense Manipulation and Paralysis Inducement: Resists stunning abilities such as Force Stun.

Soul Manipulation, Lifeforce Absorption, and Atomization: Far stronger than Darth Bane who can resist the Valley of the Jedi attempting to pull his spirit into the nexus through sheer willpower. Likely knows Vader’s technique which allowed him to become immune to the Dark Reaper’s Force Drain, which harvested a being’s Living Force and could kill entire planets in an instant. The Living Force which it harvested is responsible for the composition of spirits. To be drained of the Force on this level can also destroy one’s atomic structure. He should also scale far beyond Revan who defended his consciousness from being destroyed by the echoes of Vitiate’s Force Drain ritual on Nathema.

Artoria Pendragon

Stamina and Endurance

Despite Artoria’s impressive weapons, armor and skills, like the Jedi, the King of Knights’ own determination and refusal for defeat also warrants attention. Artoria was able to come back and match Berserker right after he shattered her armor to pieces and also was immediately prepared to take on Gilgamesh despite just taking a scythe through the arm and part of her neck. Artoria was even able to endure torture for around 30 hours despite also being cut off her mana, only for her to immediately tackle Shirou and be fully armored.

Artoria’s stamina feats also are incredibly impressive. She’s also capable of holding her breath for 6 minutes and also swam 6000 meters without rest. In addition, she’s able to survive for 2 hours on her own without a master alongside standing on a bridge for five hours while likely freezing. But her best stamina showings have to come from her sparring with Shirou (poor him), as she’s shown herself being able to fight for two, three and four hours at a time to even an entire day!

Servants are also able to function and fight for as long as they have enough Mana, such as Saber Alter being able to spam her Noble Phantasm while connected to the Holy Grail (For example, Goetia who has his own Holy Grails, also was stated to have infinite Magical energy). As a Top Servant summoned by the Moon Cell or the World, she can even have infinite stamina due to unlimited Magical Energy reserves.

Enhanced Senses

Artoria has exceptional senses, being able to sense enemies in a 200 meter range, and she could sense Iskander’s chariot from a far distance with her eyes closed. She noticed a small string of magic Caster used to capture Shirou, which is small enough that the Bounded Field on Shirou's house couldn't catch it. While she was affected by Ryuudou Temple's dampening field, she sensed a Servant nearby. She was also able to sense Archer being mortally wounded from a distance.

Servant Physiology

Servants, likewise called Ghost Liners, are a kind of familiar that are gathered during a Holy Grail War, summoned by Magi. In addition, Servants are Heroic Spirits, beings who have been elevated into spirits of a higher rank and are regarded as "artificial gods," as they are removed from the cycle of reincarnation because they have left behind significant life accomplishments. While all Servants have differing Skills and Noble Phantasms, they all have a similar physiology.

Servants do not need to eat, sleep, or even breathe oxygen to survive. Just consuming Mana is enough for them. Their bodies are also made out of Ether and Spiritrons, and so are their minds. Spiritrons are a substance that are said to be the “true essence of the soul” and reside in a higher dimension. They are much more durable compared to humans, and their blood is not actually real blood but Magical Energy. This should also extend to their organs and entire body, as they are all composed of Ether rather than the traditional flesh and cells that life-forms have

Their Ether-based bodies are also more malleable and “shapely” than that of humans, and they have an innate automatic regeneration that is potent enough to heal several severe wounds. They can heal faster when going into Spirit form. Servants can dematerialize into their Spirit forms, which makes them invisible and undetectable to nearly everyone but whoever is connected to their leyline, in which case would be their Master. They can do it on a whim and move between the two states in quick succession. They are also intangible in this state, and can turn their Noble Phantasms into Spirit form as well.

While Artoria was not able to utilize her Spirit form in the original Fate/stay night due to being “alive” technically, she refers to herself as a Heroic Spirit and she acts as a proper Heroic Spirit now and acts as a sort of Counter Guardian according to the FGO Materials, and can thus also utilize her Spirit form at her peak. Counter Guardians are also able to use their Spirit form. Lancer Artoria even refers to her as an actual Heroic Spirit. She’s also not classed as a “Living Servant” unlike the others in FGO, which means she is a proper Heroic Spirit now and thus can activate her Spirit form.

They are superhuman in nature, being comparable to a thousand soldiers. Weapons of modern day are not even threats to them, due to them being Divine Mysteries. They are essentially invulnerable to modern weapons and beings without magic or Mystery. Despite this, there are ways to harm and interact with Servants. One such way is to hit the Servant with a greater amount of Mystery, use magic that exceeds their defenses, attack them using their own weapons, or beings similar to them in nature, like spirits or familiars. They’re also immortal and lack life or death, since killing them just sends the Servant back to the Throne of Heroes. This isn’t combat applicable, however.

Speaking of superhuman, their senses are also very much superhuman to an extreme degree. Servants are capable of detecting other Servants regardless if they are in Spirit form or not, even from a distance. They have no problems seeing even in total darkness, looking through thick mist, viewing satellites in outer space, and can detect beings of spiritual nature. Even a weaker Servant like Saber Lily can detect radiation and microscopic viruses.

Servants are also capable of absorbing spiritual and mental energy, which fuels them and can increase their magical energy capacity. For some examples; Caesar was able to absorb his Shadow Servant self after defeating it and was able to grow stronger from it, and two Lostbelt Servants were able to absorb their Proper Human History counterparts, gaining information and combat data.

Their innate Luck stat is also able to passively warp reality depending on how high ones’ Luck stat is. With attacks imbued with enough spiritual energy or through the use of conceptual weapons, they are also able to cleave souls. Souls in the Nasuverse contain the concept and information of a being, as well also housing their mind and memories within it and thus alongside the body, protect the soul and stop it from being reached. Experienced Servants can even use magical energy to walk on water, the air, outer space, and even in a complete void.

Speaking of voids, Servants are even able to harm Kama, who’s literally a void and non-existent abstract conceptual entity. They are also able to harm and exorcise incorporeal ghosts and spirits. And in the case of the vacuum of space, Servants can also survive and fight in outer space and even talk to each other there.

Magic Resistance (Rank: A)

This is an ability of the Saber Class: the ability to cancel any kind of magecraft. The reason for Artoria having this potent rank is due to her having dragon blood from her Magic Reactor Core being that of a dragon’s. The potency of this resistance is so high that not even magecraft from the Age of Gods can get past it, as shown when she bulldozed through Caster’s Age of Gods magecraft. The only things capable of bypassing these resistances are either with attacks that are not directed at her, abilities in the realm of True Magic, attacks from Divine Phantasmal Species and even Anti-Dragon attacks/abilities.

Some examples of what Artoria has resisted:

No sold Caster’s explosion. Resisted Rider’s Mystic Eyes and bad luck. Artoria has broken out of Caster's spatial prison. Resisted Caster's Command Spell for an entire night and her amnesia spell.

Riding (Rank: B)

This is another skill of the Saber Class. In many stories and historical accounts, knights are said to be proficient in mounted warfare. As the King of Knights, this is true for Artoria as well. As her Rank in this Skill is B, she can mount chariots and animal mounts with relative ease, mastering them quite quickly. Artoria has been shown to be proficient in riding even modern day vehicles, such as the Yamaha V-Max. However, she is unable to control Pegasi, Dragons, and other higher ranked Phantasmal Species.

Instinct (Rank: A)

Also called “Intuition”. This is the skill to instantly identify “the best course of action” to take in the middle of battle. Due to the rank of Artoria’s Instinct skill being A, this ability is so effective that it is compared to being nigh-precognition. The potency of this allows Artoria to dodge abilities even with her vision and hearing being interfered with. With assistance from her high Luck stat, Artoria can evade attacks from weapons which can affect causality, such as Cú Chulainn’s Gáe Bolg. After undergoing Servant Ascension in Fate/Grand Order, Artoria attains an improved version of this skill called "Shining Path: EX". Instinct can limit obstruction efforts against Artoria’s precognition.

Instinct can inform Artoria of the properties of other weapons, such as the Noble Phantasm Gae Dearg and Gilgamesh’s Ea. Her “sixth sense” can also inform her of ways of winning a fight. It will warn her of fatal attacks coming from opponents.

Mana Burst (Rank: A)

This is the skill to instantly transfer mana to your body and weapon. Releasing it instantaneously, it increases one’s ability momentarily like a mana jet propulsion. Artoria uses this mana for sword techniques, guarding and movement, as is seen in her fights against the Berserker-Class Heracles. Mana Burst allows her to keep up with a foe who is not only much larger than her, but also has higher parameters than her. After Servant Ascension, this skill would improve into "Dragon Reactor Core: B".

The energy released from a burst can create craters. Artoria can convert her armor's mana into fuel for Mana Burst, which makes her faster. Burst can also be transformed into fuel for Excalibur.

Charisma (Rank: B)

One of Artoria’s Personal Skills. It pertains to the ability and natural talent to lead an army or country. It is able to boost the ability of allies during battle. At a Rank of B, Artoria is able to effectively rally an entire country in her name. It can also negate the Skill “Emergency Prerogative”, which is a skill that lowers stats and skills, as well as freeze anyone in place due to a commanding and fearful aura. In her Swimsuit Saint Graph, she gains a “Summer Charisma” called Beach Flower of the same Rank as her usual Charisma.

Wind Manipulation

Invisible Air grants Artoria a degree of control over wind. She can unleash tornados at her foes, or a flurry of wind strikes (like so). Her air attacks can even be combined with a minor Excaliblast. She can launch a massive gust of wind or even cover a skyscraper in a barrier of air. Her air blasts can casually destroy houses and have been compared to typhoons.

Blessing of the Lake

Due to her legend, Artoria can stand and walk on any body of water without fear of sinking. Oddly enough though she cannot swim. Don't worry though, she eventually learned how to swim with assistance from Shirou.

Moon Drive

In Fate/Extella Link, every playable Servant in the game can utilize the Moon Drive, which boosts the user’s power with the power of the Moon Cell’s Regalia. In this state, the Servant’s attack power and defense rise dramatically. While in the Moon Drive state, Servants can unleash their Noble Phantasm as well. This can be activated when absorbing mana from enemies.

Magic Core

As opposed to normal humans who possess Magic Circuits, Artoria instead possesses a Magic Core due to her having dragon’s blood. Artoria’s Magic Core essentially allows her to generate more magical energy than normal magus can, with the difference between Magic Circuits and her Magic Core being likened to that of a single machine vs an entire factory. As long as Artoria’s core is kindled she can receive Mana directly from whoever her Master is and generate her own Mana, allowing her to remain in combat for much longer than without it.

Artoria’s Magic Core is also its own mental and conceptual space containing the Red Dragon of Britain. And speaking of that…

Red Dragon of Britain: Albion

The conceptual dragon inhabiting Saber’s conceptual space in her heart. This Red Dragon represents Britain itself, and Albion is the Greek name of this land. Artoria was said to be born with dragon blood due to Merlin giving her said factor and was stated in legend to be this same Red Dragon itself destined to fight the White Dragon, Vortigern. This dragon is as old as the Earth itself, and it fends off unwanted intruders within her unconscious and also is specifically what gives Artoria’s Excalibur the power it has. It is responsible for Artoria’s phantasmal blood. Just the mere sight of it ruined Shirou’s sanity. Albion will attack and consume anything that enter’s Atroria’s mind space, as it is her true nature. It can pierce mental targets as well.

Albion itself is as old as the planet and holds within itself 4.6 billion years worth of data. It was the gatekeeper of Great Britain. It is beyond the level of even a Grand Servant. Albion eventually perished trying to reach the Reverse Side of the World as the Age of the Gods ended. Merlin foretold a tale regarding a red dragon representing Britain, and a white dragon representing the Saxons. “Britain will gather power under the banner of a great king, and defeat the Gauls and Romans." Both dragons are Albion, and Artoria has half of it in her mindscape/core. Given Albion’s primordial nature, it is possible for it to be similar in nature and scale to Tiamat. Tiamat's Sea of Life puts a geis on every living creature, and she exists across space and time.

Resistances

As a Servant, Artoria has plenty of abilities and haxes she resists, and is especially bolstered by her Magic Resistance skill. These include:

Extreme Temperatures: Servants like Anastasia call temperatures in Chaldea “mild” compared to what she’s used to. Chaldea is situated in the Antarctic, which can reach up to -136 degrees F. On the other end of the spectrum, Servants like Kiyohime, Minamoto no Raikou, and Hassan of Serenity can freely swim in lava without any sort of negative effects to them. They can even wear little clothing in cold temperatures. Servants like Lancelot have also shown they can survive in the vacuum of space, which can reach temperatures near absolute zero.

Space Manipulation: George states that Dragons can passively distort space and cause dimensional collapses, yet Servants like Mash are able to fight them with no ill effect despite their breaths being able to twist space. Archer (EMIYA), who has Magic Resistance at only Rank D, can break through frozen space just by exerting enough power.

Gravity Manipulation: Other than being able to fight Fantasy Trees which have galaxies in them and emit powerful gravity fields, Servants can also defy gravity for a while and others can even nullify gravity attacks entirely with their magical power. Mysterious Heroine X Alter even states she can perform just as well in 100Gs as in 1G. Holmes even stated escaping the gravity of a black hole is possible with faster than light speeds. Servants like Mash have also been shown to be able to play “tennis” with “pseudo-” black holes. Mata Hari also notes that Servants can keep their balance in zero gravity due to it being similar to what they experience in their spirit forms.

Time Manipulation: Servants with at least Rank C Magic Resistance can escape Violet’s Crack Ice Id_es which freezes time and space, such as when Tamamo-no-Mae was able to escape it. Servants are also able to fight within stopped time and even train in these timeless spaces endlessly. Servants are also able to traverse within Imaginary Number Space, a realm where there is no concept of time.

Existence Erasure: Stronger Servants like Gilgamesh are able to sleep within Imaginary Number Space, although it is stated that most other Servants need to stay awake to not be erased from existence within Imaginary Number Space since Gilgamesh is just that powerful compared to other Servants. Just being within Imaginary Number Space erases one’s existence from reality. Servants are also capable of trading blows with other Servants whose attacks can shave off existence itself.

Void Manipulation: Servants like Holmes can survive within Imaginary Number Space, which is stated to be a void that lacks the concepts of time, space, and even information.

Possession: Archer, who has a lower Magic Resistance than Artoria’s own, can resist possession from a vengeful spirit.

Poison Manipulation: Being a Servant must be fun, since they can only get drunk if they choose to. Poisonous fumes are ineffective to them as well, and they can survive even if the air has corrosive gasses that can melt a human’s lungs.

Disease Manipulation: The common cold can’t affect Servants.

Physics and Law Manipulation: Imaginary Number Space lacks observable laws, and is undetectable with the laws of physics. Noble Phantasms are also stated to be inapplicable to the laws of physics.

Concept and Soul Manipulation: Servants with B Rank or higher Magic Resistance can nullify conceptual magic just with their sheer magical power. Many Servants also attack with enough spiritual energy to cleave souls. Souls in the Nasuverse are conceptual in nature, and are not subject to the laws of the physical world. They also house abstract things like the mind, memories, and information. Servants are also able to withstand being within Kama’s space, which is filled with her Authority that acts as a powerful conceptual magic. Servants can also withstand Baptism Rites, which eliminate wandering souls.

Absorption and Power Drain: Rin states that Magical energy is enough to counter abilities that can absorb and drain energy and powers, such as Medusa’s Blood Fort Andromeda. They can also counteract spells of a similar nature using their natural magical energy to resist and reject it.

Petrification, Matter Manipulation and Transmutation: Artoria is able to resist Rider’s Mystic Eyes, and the same goes for Artoria Alter who can avoid being petrified by Medusa’s Mystic Eyes due to possessing more magical power. Servants can also resist Circe’s magecraft, which transmutes its targets as a side effect, and is able to turn lead into gold.

Memory, Perception, and Sensory Manipulation: In the Salem Singularity, it is stated that normal Servants can resist their memories and senses being tampered with, and the only reason why they were affected by these within Salem’s Bounded Field is due to the Divine power or Authority being strong enough to override their innate magical power and resistance.

Mind Manipulation, Mind Control, and Empathic Manipulation: Servants can resist Beast III/ L’s Authority, which encompasses infinite love and all worldly desires in the universe and every clone of Beast III/L is identical to the original, with there being enough to fill up the entire universe and affect everything within the universe. Kama’s mind manipulation powers are able to affect the entire universe and are linked to the universe itself and can shower all of mankind with her powers. Servants can also withstand being in Kiara’s presence, which passively induces an unreasonable need to love her in those who know her. Some Servants like Heracles can even briefly resist orders from a Command Seal, and Artoria herself requires two to be forced against her will, an act described as "shaking the very foundation of the Servant System" as Command Spells are absolute conditions for their materialization carved into them at the moment of their summoning.

Servants are also seemingly unaffected by conversing with the Fae in the sixth Lostbelt, who should speak the Unified Language. It is the Tongue of Babel that influences The World itself. It is the "truth" people shared before being separated in the myth of the Tower of Babel, speaking directly to The World and drawing upon its records, as well as to one’s Origin at a level akin to, but lower than The Root. To deny it is to harm The World and refute your own existence (Raws here).

Biological Manipulation: Tiamat’s Chaos Tide can change the Master into a different creature entirely, yet Mash states that she can hold this effect off as a Demi-Servant, who are essentially Servants but with human bodies. While it is stated that Tiamat’s Chaos Tide can affect Servants, Mash is still able to resist it to a degree as stated and Ushiwakamaru resisted it alongside torture from Kingu before finally succumbing to it. The Chaos Tide is even able to affect things on a cellular level. They are also inorganic, as they are made up of Ether and Spiritrons.

Life Manipulation & Destruction: Servants can survive blows from Surtr, whose blows target life-forms and are effective against them conceptually. The concept of destruction "squirms around his feet", with every step he takes shattering and burning his surroundings. Powerful Servants can survive standing by the White Titan, Sefar, who passively breaks down everything around her while lifeforms erode in her presence.

Death Inducement: Due to not being made of flesh and blood, Servants like Holmes can survive instant death spells and curses.

Corrosion Inducement: Servants can stay within the Abyss, where souls suffer, the air is stagnant, and decay spreads everywhere. Ereshkigal was able to restore her rotted face back to normal after realizing her errors.

Fate, Probability and Causality Manipulation: Servants with at least a B Rank Luck or higher Luck stat can passively repel causality manipulation abilities like Gae Bolg. Artoria herself has shown to be able to resist this. Even Servants like Brynhildr, who is a Lancer with a Luck stat of E, can forcibly change probability and erase other possibilities just by willing so, although for an E Rank Luck Servant this does damage her Spirit Origin.

BFR: Servants can fight in spatial distortions and resist space manip, as well as resisting time hax. BFR can also be resisted by them via a skill called "Independent Manifestation" which prevents that, and with high enough Magic Resistance, Circe was able to resist Medea's BFR teleportation. Artoria can also resist Medea's enforced transference, which priorly had banished Shirou out of the third dimension and through many different dimensions.

Oneness

Oneness is the state one achieves when they fully merge with the Force (or their respective “part of the Force” depending on the writer). The individual becomes an extension of the Force, and their power is increased exponentially. The mind of a person undergoing Oneness is able to feel the Force across all dimensions and time, as shown by Barriss Offee. When using Bota (a plant that increased the user’s connection to the Force), Barriss artificially achieved Oneness. This was described as connecting to the very essence of the universe, all time and space. Bariss commented that Oneness could twist the very fabric of space and time, and that it connected her to the third and fourth dimension. Oneness is consistently defined as fully merging with the Force, and is therefore superior to empowerment from the Valley of the Jedi (which only connects the user to the fabric of the Force).

Oneness also varies in potency. Several Jedi have achieved a sort of “zone” at points in their lives, with some examples potentially being examples of Oneness. In regards to Luke, he has achieved Oneness three times in his life. In the final battle against the Yuuzhan Vong on Coruscant Luke became a conduit for the Force. Luke’s individuality was completely gone, his body acting as a vessel for the Force’s will, and he was moving so fast he left afterimages against his opponents.

Note: Not all usages of Oneness are the same in potency. Oneness achieved with a golden glow dictates full oneness with all aspects of the Force, as opposed to a single. An example of “partial” Oneness is Darth Malgus momentarily “reaching the zone”.

Luke has also shown the ability to forcibly activate Oneness, by opening his cells to the Force and super charging them. This grants Luke a golden glow similar to when his nephew achieved complete Oneness with both the light and dark side of the Force. This forced variation of Oneness will kill Luke overtime, as his cells cannot withstand the energy loverload and will burst. Luke used this for a brutal fist fight with the Force Deity Abeloth in the book Vortex, a fight he barely won.

Luke was able to achieve Oneness a final time late in his life, after being exposed to a mysterious Force Monolith. The empowerment was beyond anything he had ever felt, and he glowed gold while under its influence. Luke described himself as being made of the Force, and could use the Golden Flash, a suicidal release of Force energy. The power of this move was so great it consumed Luke and his sister Leia (who was also empowered), to the point where they were caught between death and life for an eternity, realizing that there existed nothing in reality besides the Force itself.

Upon their use of ‘true’ Oneness, they began to dissolve into the Force itself, becoming one with it as all Jedi who served it did at the end of their lives. This union made it difficult to bind one’s own essence as individuated distinctly from the oneness of the Force, drifting into agony and ecstasy and agony, everywhere and nowhere simultaneously. They only returned to the world of the living via their connection with Han Solo, after Leia’s consciousness was focused back to the living world before she truly became lost within the Force for good due to focusing on her love for Han. Such a reunion remade even their bodies, to the point of Leia’s body being recreated to a state of youth. Before this event, the Golden Flash erased the history and even the memories of the identities of their enemies

After using Golden Flash, we are told Luke gained a new level of understanding of the Force beyond anything prior. He loses any disdain he had for the Dark Side because he comes to the understanding destruction is necessary for creation. It's pretty much the same point of view his nephew had before his own corruption, which allowed Jacen to reach the highest level of Oneness in recorded history.

Artoria Pendragon

Swimsuit Saint Graph

When the king wants to enjoy the summer sea, Artoria forgets her duties as a king and goes to use her Swimsuit Saint Graph. While she’s classified as an Archer, Artoria uses many different weapons such as a sword, spear, bow, and …a reindeer she uses to ride on. While she can’t swim, she does gain new class skills and personal skills such as:

Independent Action (Rank: A)

A trademark skill of the Archer Class: The ability for a Servant to remain independent even without being connected to their Master’s energy supply. This ability allows for action in the absence of a Master, and at higher Ranks make it possible for Servants to remain manifested without an established contract. At Rank A this skill allows for Servants to operate without a Master for about a week, and Servants with a lower rank like EMIYA can even manage to make use of their Noble Phantasm and endure severe injury before finally demanifesting days later.

Territory Creation (Rank: A)

Primarily a skill from the Caster Class, but also acts as her Mana Burst. This skill creates a dream-like effect where a projection of the Fairy Princess Vivian blesses Artoria and her comrades with a boost in morale, raising the Luck stat, raising accuracy, clears irritation, and refreshes Artoria and her comrades. With this “cheat” skill, Artoria aims to become the champion of the Water Blitz World Tournament! Whatever the heck that means.

Summer Splash! (Rank: A+)

Changing her Saint Graph has also had an effect on her Mana Burst, altering its attribute to “Water” due to Excalibur: Vivian. While its firepower has decreased, the ability’s duration has increased and can even be used to boost Artoria and her comrades’ defense.

Beach House Protection (Rank: EX)

A skill unique to Artoria in this Saint Graph, it heals her at the cost of magical energy. For some reason, this skill relates to Artoria’s status as the ”Great King of Food” while in this Saint Graph due to her lavish food orders, exuberant eating, and her shining smile after every meal that is said to grant prosperity to every beachfront establishment. What this has to do with a healing skill, only Nasu knows.

Excalibur Viviane: Sword of Radiant Sunlight Victory

Rank: A
Type: Anti-Personnel
Range: 9-30
Maximum Target: 1

A water gun with Excalibur stuck on it! No, really.

Using a water gun she kept from Waku Waku Splash in Fuyuki, Artoria can fire high pressure water beams (i.e. her Mana Burst) alongside Excalibur and increase her sword’s reach by sticking it to the barrel of the water gun like a bayonet. According to Artoria, her logic for the attribute change goes: "Excalibur was originally entrusted to me by the fairy of the lake, so why would it be surprising if it had water attributes of some kind?" But in any case it still is a powerful Noble Phantasm that no one would want to be on the other end of.

Spirit Origin Ascension Forms

Yes, a gacha mechanic is actually canon. Mats hell is canon, unfortunately. A Spirit Origin Ascension is basically a system where with enough materials, a Servant’s power grows to a point of a transformation, which boosts their stats and even unlocks new skills and sometimes clothes. A few may even change their personalities. Servants can spontaneously ascend through absorbing magical energies such as those of a Fantasy Tree, or absorbing various materials. Some of these materials are things like an Egg of Truth which is so hard nothing can break it. Servants can also ascend on their own if their mental state is heightened enough.

Top Servant

Not really a form per se, but rather a special summoning thanks to Artoria’s status as one of the strongest Servants in all of history. Top Servants are Heroic Spirits hand-picked by the Moon Cell for their exemplary strength, summoned into special classes separate from the normal seven. They are the best and strongest among the Servants in the Moon Cell and are only summoned in the most dire of circumstances, such as the awakening of the White Titan Sefar and Karl der Große’s Oraclization plot. Other Servants also classified as Top Servants are Arjuna, Scathach, Gilgamesh, Jeanne d’Arc and Iskandar.

In Artoria’s case, all her Saber Class abilities remained on top of becoming a Ruler Class and being summoned with Avalon. She also seems to be especially powerful, even for a Top Servant, with Charlemagne believing that Karl der Große could never capture her or end up assimilated by him, with Karl possessing power beyond that of a Top Servant's and could capture Gilgamesh, albeit only when he was complacent. It’s also implied that this version of Artoria fought and slew Sefar, a scene we actually see from Altera/Sefar’s point of view at one point.

Son of Suns Luke

Art by RJN16

The “Son of Suns” is a prophesied saviour likened heavily to a messianic figure who is destined to appear in a time of great peril to protect the people. This “Son of Suns” was a very early part of the Star Wars lore that was intended to appear in the Journal of the Whills. It is also mentioned in another RPG sourcebook.

The Son of Suns title was a niche part of the lore for some time, but it was brought back to prominence in Supernatural Encounters, where the prophecy was expanded upon.

And in the times of greatest despair,

Born of the fire, born of the air,

There shall arise the saviors,

Born of the earth, born of waters,

Defenders of the blameless ones,

And he shall be the Son of Suns,

And she the Daughter of the Stars,

To break the fetters, chains, and bars,

Not soldiers’ swords nor wizards’ spell,

Nor kings or queens or hosts of Hell,

Will thwart the Children of the Light,

Champions and Companions Knight,

So evening turns to golden morn,

As ice dissolves when spring’s reborn,

Let joy rise up from grief and woe,

From evil’s death, new life will grow,

And all who loved will be re-made,

Whether great or small, beast or babe,

The end of death and pain and rage,

As once it was in the Dawn Age....

This prophecy may seem esoteric and difficult to comprehend in an initial read, but it is quite simple with the other lore given in the book. Firstly the prophecy has shifted from simply focusing on one figure (the Son of Suns) and has added a second component, that being the Daughter of Stars. This will be important later.

The most important parts of the prophecy are the lines which means “from evil’s death new life will grow” and “the end of death and pain and rage, as once it was in the Dawn Age”. This “Dawn Age” is expanded upon in a creation myth described in Book III. Taking clear inspiration from Tolkien’s Silmarillion, the book tells us that before the universe as we know it came into existence, everything was formless and void. From the abyss of pre-creation a Godly being known as the Father of Lights uttered a primordial note and filled the void with the first world, called “The Primary Dimension” or “The Dawn World”

However discord began to enter the song of creation as there were others who coveted the dawn world for themselves. The first and foremost among them was called “the Father of Shadows” the most ancient of all evil Gods and perhaps the source of the Dark Side itself. This being was first alluded to in the comic “The Pandora Effect”, where a cult who called themselves the Five were introduced as a group who worshiped evil and revered an entity called “The Left Handed God”.

The Chosen One prophecy referencing a “Dawn Age” and a “Vanquishing of Evil” is of course speaking of the savior coming to vanquish the Father of Shadows, and returning existence to a state free of conflict and dichotomy as the “Dawn World” once was before discord was sewn into the song of creation. The universe having dichotomies of “light and dark” or “good and evil” is a thing that goes against the will of the Father, and something he intends to rectify through his chosen ones. The Coda describes the culmination of the prophecy and the Father’s will, when Anakin, championing the Father of Lights, marches alongside his children into the final battle against the Darkness. It also adds that the battle “shall be over soon” ensuring that they will indeed fulfill the prophecy. The Daughter of Stars would thus be Leia as the sister counterpoint to Luke, the Son.

Regarding the scaling and the impressiveness of this feat, Luke and Leia would be direct avatars acting on behalf of the Father of Lights to return the universe to its original state. The Father of Lights himself is stated throughout the book to be “The Supreme Maker”, a being which the Jedi identify with The Cosmic Force. The most fundamental and primordial aspect of the Force is the truth that All is One, a unified essence wholly devoid of dualism and distinct parts. Dichotomies such as “Light Side” and “Dark Side” are merely conceptions of the human mind that ultimately fall short of the true nature of the Force. It is a truly limitless thing beyond all comprehension, transcending language, with all human thought being encompassed by the Pneuma.

Within this state Luke would become a being of boundless power, transcending all things as he partakes in the Father of Lights’ simplicity.

Heroic Spirit Artoria

Art by JaiVerJar

Heroic Spirits are the souls of heroes who achieved great deeds in life and ascended. Heroic Spirits are beings of a higher existence. They are removed from reincarnation, moved to the Throne of Heroes, outside of both the World and time in a higher dimension. The Throne of Heroes is beyond the very World itself, beyond even spaces like Void Space, Avalon and even the Outer Universe. We know the Throne of Heroes is above even the Outer Universe since Abigail William’s Noble Phantasm encompasses it as well. They were the greatest existences amongst the forces that safeguarded humanity. In terms of classification, they were not Wrath, but closer to Faeries. Faeries were materialized forces using the imagination of humans as framework, while Heroic Spirits were woven purely from the ideals of humans through and through.

Heroic Spirits are beings cut off from the time axis and can be summoned in any era, regardless of past and future. However, the only one that can summon the main body of the Heroic Spirits is the "world", and alas, humans can't summon the main body and can only summon their emanations, the Servants. Speaking of which, the information (souls) making up the Servants return to the main body at the same time as the death of the Servant, and the main body can know, as records, about the actions of the Servants as if reading a book.

While Artoria in the original Fate/stay night isn’t a proper Heroic Spirit and is considered to be a Living Servant, Artoria does become one in Fate/Grand Order.

As a rule, Heroic Spirits can be classified on a grand scale into four categories. Those are "Man", "Earth", "Heavens" and "Star". Emiya explains them as follows:

EMIYA: As a rule, Heroic Spirits can be classified on a grand scale into four categories. Those are "Man", "Earth", "Heavens" and "Star".

EMIYA: Ever since Christian Era, the "Man" category indicates great men who contributed to humanity and were regarded as heroes, becoming common knowledge.

EMIYA: While cases of those who were truly super-humans while alive also exist, these are basically Heroic Spirits who were deified by the general public after death.

EMIYA: Andersen, Shakespeare, Robin (Originally Amadeus before a game update) and Miss Nightingale can be raised as examples.

EMIYA: Next is the "Earth" category. These are heroes told about in indigenous fantastic folklore, but...

EMIYA: ...and here is the important part. The fourth category: "Star".

EMIYA: Neither Heavens, Earth or Man. A hope from mankind. A symbol of overcoming hardships.

EMIYA: This might appear as an omnipotent attribute that possesses no minus towards any other categories, but its true nature lies elsewhere.

Typically, Artoria is classified under “Earth”, but as her greater Heroic Spirit encompasses all versions of Artoria, it would possess the attributes of "Man", "Sky", and "Star" as well. Full Heroic Spirits are not divided by rank, as that distinction only exists between Servants and the different vessels they can be summoned in. And Heroic Spirits aren’t mere clumps of information, but existing, conscious individuals that can interact with other Heroic Spirits within the Throne and such memories formed there are retained by their Servant forms.

Heroic Spirit Artoria Pendragon would mainly encompass the powers of her Saber, Summer Archer, her Alter (due to it just being another side of her) with both her Rider Spirit Origins, her Lily self, both the “what if” Lancer selves (as they merely deviate at one point in their history) as well as their Ruler Spirit Origin, all versions of Artoria from the Servantverse, her Caster self originating from the sixth Lostbelt, that version's Berserker Spirit Origin, and even her male counterpart as all officially fall under the “Artoria-type” Servants according to their April Fools’ descriptions, which is tied to the “Learning with Manga!” continuity that is canon to mainline FGO as an alternate world.

However, there are even more ridiculous versions of Artoria out in the Fate worlds. For instance, we have Saber Lion, summoned by Taiga Fujimura in Fate/tiger colosseum, the Galactica Saber owned by Gilgamesh from Capsule Servant, and even Artoria as a living Master, also from Capsule Servant.

The implication of all of this being that as all these iterations of Artoria are mere emanations of the Heroic Spirit within the Throne, the full Heroic Spirit would have access to all their abilities, equipment, and experiences. On top of the many different versions of everything the normal Saber Artoria has, the full Heroic Spirit would have the Holy Lance Rhongomyniad (as well as several different versions of it), a Christmas sack that lets her pick out any gift that brings out the past trauma of its recipient, invoke the Second Magic to duplicate themselves endlessly, pilot a spaceship, rewind time after the destruction of the universe, possess a high level of knowledge on Magecraft, freely travel across dimensions, and ride the untamable Unit Lion.

As to where a Heroic Spirit stands in power, “mere” Servants such as Abigail Williams can call forth realms like the Dreamlands, which exist within the Outer Universe. Versions of Artoria like Mysterious Heroine XX can seal and slay Outer Gods. Even the actions of Foreigner Servants are just treated as the development of their legends for the Heroic Spirit in the Throne. In other words, a full Heroic Spirit should transcend even the Outer Universe. And given the return of a Servant’s soul back into the Throne of Heroes leads to being able to bore a hole straight to The Root and that certain Noble Phantasms such as Avalon can repel True Magic, something only gained by approaching The Root, the Throne of Heroes and the Heroic Spirits that reside within them should upscale from everything else in the verse’s cosmology outside of The Root itself.

The full scale of the Nasuverse’s cosmology is possibly beyond any numbered dimension as when a version of Kiara Sessyoin ascended into a higher-dimensional being, she found herself still bound to the universe, discovering that there is no end to the path to omnipotence. That there is always a higher level no matter how transcendent you become. It’s also stated that Void Space, which is only just a part of the smaller World compared to the whole cosmology, contains “all logical coordinates”. And Outer Gods like Sut-Typhon are also said to encompass “all of space”.

And, as ridiculous as it might seem, True Magics such as the Second Magic allow beings made from it such as Neco-Arc, yes this horrifying, lovecraftian monstrosity:

To view the Universe and events within it as mere fiction, like the routes of a visual novel. Neco-Arc can even scribble down new endings to routes and change the format of the story to view it as a certain fantastical JRPG. And to mention it again, merely Avalon, a Noble Phantasm made from the information of a Heroic Spirit, is enough to disperse the Second Magic.

The legend of King Arthur is one of the most long-enduring of all myths, both in Fate and in our actual real world. The idea of a prophesied King coming to save their country from the invaders and wielding a magical sword is pretty much a template of stories now. In Fate, stories and myths shape the history of the World. And Artoria’s myth is certainly one of the most famous and memorable ones.

She fights to save mankind, and is the Once and Future King. And that is why her legend will never die– for she will come when humanity is at its lowest point, saving the Planet with the Sword of Promised Victory.

Luke Skywalker

Sheev Palpatine

Daddy Palps, Creamy Sheev, Galaxy Chucker, The Senate. Luke has dueled Palps when he was at his strongest and straight up defeated him in the past. Palpatine has very consistent statements of being the strongest Sith and dark side practitioner in history.

Darth Vader

Anakin Skywalker, Luke’s father. They dueled multiple times over the years, and by the time of their final confrontation, Luke was able to defeat Vader, making it pretty straightforward to compare the two.

Galen Marek/Starkiller

The original Galen Marek and the clone Starkiller were trained by Darth Vader and both defeated him. Luke would naturally be comparable to both. The character of Starkiller was conceived as being what Luke would’ve been like in the hypothetical event Vader trained him.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Hello there. Luke’s first mentor in the ways of the Force. As Luke grew and matured as a Jedi Knight, he would match and eventually surpass the Jedi of old, including Obi-Wan, making it a favorable comparison.

Yoda

Grandmaster of the Jedi Order and Luke’s second mentor. Luke learned much from Yoda and effectively became Yoda’s successor when he became Grandmaster of the New Jedi Order, making the two comparable.

The Ancient Sith

The Sith of the old days. Darth Sidious has been regarded as the most powerful Sith of all time. By defeating him, Luke would certainly be as capable as Sidious’ predecessors.

The New Jedi Order

The Jedi Order that Luke established. Having trained practically all of them to some degree, Luke would unquestionably be comparable to his Order’s disciples.

Various Force Sensitives

In general, Luke is one of the most accomplished and powerful Force-sensitives of all time, which would make him comparable, if not outright superior, to many notable Force-sensitives and their feats.

Abeloth

A powerful and ancient dark side entity, and the final enemy Luke faced on his journey. While Luke did not defeat Abeloth on his own, he was more than capable of contending with her. When using Oneness he even defeated her avatar. Luke is stated to be roughly a dozen times weaker than her in Force power. In regards to her full powered form, Luke managed to hold his own against her avatar while it was close to reaching her full potential in the book Apocalypse. It is however important to note he is weaker than her full power by a good margin and only beat her due to her being weakened.

Artoria Pendragon

Fate/stay night and Fate/hollow ataraxia

Artoria was summoned by Shirou Emiya in Fate stay/night in the Saber-Class to participate in the Fifth Holy Grail War. In almost every route, Artoria, while weakened due to Shirou being an amateur mage, was able to fight toe to toe with almost every Servant that was summoned. This includes servants such as EMIYA (Archer), Cú Chulainn (Lancer), Medusa (Rider), Medea (Caster), Sasaki Kojirō (Assassin), Hassan of the Cursed Arm (Assassin), and Heracles (Berserker). Artoria scales what these characters can do such as:

Fate/Zero

Ten years before the events of Fate/stay night, Artoria was summoned in the Fourth Holy Grail War by Kiritsugu Emiya for the Einzbern family, in which she fought against several servants from the opposing side such as Diarmuid Ua Duibhne (Lancer), Iskander (Rider), Gilles De Rais (Caster) and Lancelot (Berserker). Ignoring a certain golden servant and a Hassan, Artoria pretty much defeated almost every servant listed, barring Diarmuid whose duel was interrupted by Kiritsugu himself killing the master of Diarmuid. With saying this Artoria can scale to:

Knights of the Round Table

The Knights of the Round Table are the protectors of Camelot under King Arthur. Statements stated that Artoria was one of the strongest, such as Gawain’s sword, Excalibur Galatine, being the sister sword to Excalibur, Gawain stated he can beat Mordred even at night, which he is stated to still be Artoria’s equal and a equal or superior to Lancelot, Mordred’s specs being lower than her father, Lancelot, even while many said he’s the strongest due to fighting Gawain until the sun came down, has Arondight that is the counterpart of Excalibur, said the king is invincible.

There’s also Mash Kyrielight who has Galahad’s power in the singularities, lost it, but still could keep up to other lostbelt kings. None of the less, the characters that Artoria should be able to scale in her own round table are: Percival (Lancer), Gareth (Lancer), Tristan (Archer), Gawain (Saber), Lancelot (Saber), Bedivere (Saber), Mordred (Saber), Galahad/Mash (Shielder), and Agravain. Artoria should scale to each Round Table’s feats:

Artoria Pendragon (Alter) (Saber)

Artoria’s Alter self, Artoria Pendragon Alter (Saber) is a character that when Artoria was corrupted by the Holy Grail’s contents from Angra Mainyu. Artoria normally can’t turn into this state due to needing outside help, but thanks to Fate/Grand Order, Artoria Alter became her own character with her own set of feats. Power wise, they’re near identical as the only difference in Fate stay/night is that thanks to Dark Sakura, she had unlimited mana due to the grail. Still, Artoria should scale due to having similar parameters with Artoria Alter. So she should scale to feats such as:

Fate/EXTRA, Fate/EXTRA CCC, and Fate/EXTRA CCC Foxtail

Artoria did not appear herself in any of these games, but is mentioned by Gawain himself. Gawain is stated to be Artoria’s equal in terms of combat when it is midday, Excalibur Galatine is the sister sword to Excalibur, and is considered to be the most powerful servant in the Extra series. Given that he able to fend off Passionlip and Meltryllis (who are combined with multiple divine beings though they was weakened in Foxtail, but Gawain should be stronger than the main character’s servant at the time), he even no sold an combined Noble Phantasm called Virgin (NSFW warning) Laser Palladion thanks to Numerial of the Saint, fought Karna when he was not powered by his sun until his he used his Noble Phantasm and beaten him, fend off Suzuka Gozen who fought Tamamo-no-Mae, fought against “BB” with Violet in Foxtail, and BB stated that if Gawain and Karna teamed up, even she would of been panicking. Due to Artoria being a Top Servant and comparable to Sefar in the next game we will mentioned, she should scale to every feat imaginable:

Fate/EXTELLA and Fate/EXTELLA Link

After so long, Artoria finally makes a playable appearance outside of the next game that will be mentioned, Fate/EXTELLA and Fate/EXTELLA Link. Artoria appears in the war for the Moon Cell to act as a deterrent for three factions which were Nero, Tamamo, and Altera. Basically, her duty is to make sure this war doesn’t escalate to destroying SE.RA.PH itself. In her own side story, “The Other Stranger”, has her fight numerous servants to make sure they weren't causing a huge commotion. In the next game, Artoria was summoned again to act as a deterrent for the Moon Cell again, but only having a smaller role in the game. She’s a Top Servant, which is picked by the Moon Cell that are the strongest in SE.RA.PH itself. She has even beaten Sefar who is comparable to Amaterasu, who is likely superior to BB (CCC) and Kiara (CCC). Thus, she can scale to such feats as:

Fate/Grand Order

While Artoria hasn’t had any story episodes in Fate/Grand Order (thanks, Nasu), she has appeared in some events such as Fate/Accel Zero Order and Summer Event: Chaldea Heat Memories. The Knights of the Round Table also has appeared in the series and has been in the story and events many times by now. Such examples include Mordred fighting a Demon God Pillar that was summoned by Solomon with others, Tristan fighting Meltryllis, Bedivere (alive) taking on the Knights of the Round Table in the Camelot singularity with Mash and Ritsuka, Lancelot and Gawain assisted in fighting Demon Hound Barghest, most of the Round Table appearing in Solomon to fight Demon Pillars.

There’s also her Lancer Saint Graph which possesses Rhongomyniad, which is comparable to Excalibur, who took on Fionn mac Cumhaill (Lancer), Romulus (Lancer), Gilgamesh (Archer) and Ozymandias (Rider) at the same time in a dream from her Interlude. There’s also her Alter self appearing in many stories, the Servants mentioned above, her Swimsuit variation, and her Lily variation. Overall, Artoria should have enough avenue to scale to such as:

Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh, a character that seems very out of Artoria’s reach in power but surprisingly, she can scale to him. The biggest example you can find is her defeating and killing him the Fate route in Stay Night as shown above. More examples come such as Artoria fighting Gilgamesh in Fate/Zero and beating him, her beating him and Iskandar in Fate/EXTELLA (though this GIlgamesh wasn’t as strong as he was in CCC, but he and Iskandar were Top Servants), Artoria (Lancer) taking on Gilgamesh and Ozymandias as said above, Artoria with others defeated him in the Fate/Accel Zero Order, and there’s the scaling mentioned above that puts him in similar levels.

And while Enuma Elish was shown to be superior to Excalibur in Fate/stay night, Artoria’s Avalon was able to block even Enuma Elish. Not only that, but Enuma Elish has been stated several times to be comparable to Excalibur even if superior. Enuma Elish is Gilgamesh’s ultimate trump card, and is one of, if not the most powerful of all Noble Phantasms in the entire franchise. Artoria can scale to Gilgamesh for doing these feats:

Noble Phantasms

As one of the most important objects in the entire setting of the Nasuverse, Excalibur is often compared to other Noble Phantasms. This ranges from lower ranked Noble Phantasms, related weapons like Gram and Rhongomyniad, and even alternate versions of Excalibur wielded by other versions of Artoria. Its status is that of "The Ultimate Phantasm" or "Last Phantasm", having been forged specially to combat the greatest of threats to The World itself. Ergo it makes complete sense to scale Excalibur to and above a large number of Noble Phantasms, such as:

Rhongomyniad

The Holy Lance. The pillar of light that holds together the surface of the planet and the Reverse Side of The World. This Noble Phantasm was actually used by Artoria in life whenever Excalibur’s firepower wasn’t enough, namely against her uncle Vortigern after he had devoured the light of both Excalibur and Galatine. It would also be the weapon she used to end Mordred’s life at the battle of Camlann. Just like Excalibur, its full output is restricted by the same thirteen restraints as its full power is stated to rival Excalibur. Characters like Bedivere have been able to deflect attacks from a full-power Rhongomyniad with Excalibur and Artoria Avalon could substitute the essence of Rhongomyniad for Excalibur to use against Cernunnos. Ergo, Excalibur should scale to the Holy Lance’s power output.

Gram

The demonic sword of Sigurd. This sword actually appeared long, long before its owner finally debuted in Fate/Grand Order as one of the many Noble Phantasms within Gilgamesh’s Gate of Babylon in Fate/stay night. As per F/SN’s description, Gram was the model of Caliburn as a chosen sword for a mighty king. It is "the strongest demonic sword" that equals "the strongest holy sword", with the legend of Sigurd himself being equal to the legend of King Arthur’s. As a result, it should be fair game to scale Gram’s feats to Excalibur.

Alternate Excaliburs

As there are many versions of Artoria, there are also many versions of Excalibur. Mostly wielded by other “Saberfaces”, all these versions of Excalibur should scale to Artoria’s for being identical in function as holy swords meant to defend the planet or are straight-up the same Excalibur being used by a different version of Artoria.

True Magic

An important aspect of Avalon is its relation to True Magic. It is described as an existence equivalent to True Magic that annuls its interference so potently not even the 5 Magics can’t get past it. It’s even been described as a True Magic in and of itself, an "absolute defense" that repels the assault of True Magics such as the Second Magic. As a result, the potency of its defensive hax and the resistances it grants Artoria should not only be comparable to the known True Magics, but also effects described as close or equivalent to True Magic.

Weaknesses

Luke Skywalker

(Rest in peace, right hand)

Although Luke is the most powerful Jedi the galaxy has ever seen, he is not without his shortcomings. He doesn’t suppress his emotion like the Jedi of days past, nor does he let it control him, but he has given in to temptation more than once. His apprenticeship to Palpatine during the reign of the Dark Empire, his misled vengeance against Lumiya, and this leading to his fear of fully falling to darkness if he were to confront his nephew, Jacen, causing Luke to withdraw from the conflict.

Additionally, while the Force is an external energy source that cannot be diminished in a fight, continuous and particularly strenuous uses of it can put physical strain on the user, and Luke is no exception to this. Furthermore, Luke naturally accessing Oneness with the Force and achieving a Golden Glow forcibly causes his body to age, but forcing Oneness overcharges his body with energy and destroys his cells, which is extremely dangerous.

He’s also lost pretty much every romantic interest he’s ever had, which is just rough, man…

Artoria Pendragon

(Rest in peace, all of Britain)

Even the greatest of kings have their fair share of weaknesses, and Artoria is no exception to this rule. Artoria doesn’t have many offensive hax, though she has many great resistances due to her high Magic Resistance. And while running out of mana would be an issue for her, due to being a Top Servant, she will be supplied with unlimited mana from the Moon Cell. Artoria follows an honor code when her opponent is also honorable, as such she will refuse help, refuse to consume a person’s soul and hold back if her opponent isn't at their strongest.

Other than that, her biggest weakness is due to having dragon blood, she has a conceptual weakness to any weapons that can slay dragons or characters legend that is known for killing dragons. Her Spirit Core, which is a Dragon Core, while resilient, if destroyed can instantly kill her.

And finally, she is a Servant that is basically left behind, all thanks to Nasu thinking that her story is finished, making her unable to have any story relevance outside of her first appearance… damn you, mushroom man.

She also kinda fumbled parenthood with Mordred but successfully got the runback with Shirou. Yes, she is his parent figure more than a lover.

Before the Verdict…

Supernatural Encounters

Although the topic of Supernatural Encounters’ canonicity is contentious due to a few select authors claiming to not have authorized it, there is still an argument to be made for its status as a legitimate book in the Legends universe. First and foremost the book is currently purchasable on Amazon as physical copies, and have been there for more than a month without Disney sending a cease and desist letter. The work is also officially licensed. Other authors of the Legends Era have also purposefully incorporated lore introduced in the original Supernatural Encounters manuscript, such as in the prominent Book of Sith.

Although it is still somewhat debatable, we find it is in poor faith to simply dismiss it as “fanfiction” due to its licensing, its publishing and sale, and the fact other Legends writers have expressed ideas within the work.

To further the points in favor of its use, the book was in fact meant to be published many years ago prior to Disney purchasing the rights to Star Wars, and it remained in “limbo” since then. The Author, Joe Bongiorno, was someone who had worked on Star Wars material previously, and was given the role of authoring a cohesive timeline for legends canon. More about the publishing history of Supernatural Encounters can be read here in the author’s FAQ.

Star Wars Cosmology

The Galaxies

Galaxies within the Star Wars universe are not merely physical collections of stars, but are in fact their own dimensions separated in space. Only via “trans-dimensional” travel could one exit the Galaxy at will, due to the placement of a hyperspace-barrier that isolates it. They have even been called other “universes”.

Realspace

Realspace is the world in which the common inhabitants of the galaxy reside, operating under rules of both volume and distance.

Infinite Universes & Timelines

Through the Force one can perceive infinite possibilities of time and space, and the simplest alterations in time can cause completely alternate possibilities to manifest. It is said that to avoid the occurrence of temporal paradoxes these alternate timelines were created by the Celestials.

Hyperspace

Hyperspace is an infinitely large alternate dimension of space-time outside ordinary space-time that exists alongside realspace, containing within itself more than three spatial and one temporal dimensions. It contained a unique tachyonic matter known as “Hypermatter”, which allowed objects in hyperspace to travel infinitely fast. Hyperspace also has the capacity for time travel, although these high speed travel properties come with risks as normal matter would dissolve upon contact with its energies.

Otherspace

Otherspace is a more mysterious dimension, described as a “pocket realm” that exists beyond even the boundaries of realspace and hyperspace. Within its domain space is “slightly warped” and colors become less vibrant, and it is known to be the final resting place for ships lost in Hyperspace. By the Five, who reside in other space, it is also described as “beyond dimensions”.

Hypergems

Hypergems are unique objects harvested from the hearts of neutron stars, containing planar networks that extended into dimensions higher than the three spatial and one temporal dimensions of realspace.

Beyond Shadows

(Art by Nice_Satisfaction651

The realm “Beyond Shadows” is a place wholly devoid of time and space, which holds all existence beneath it as a mere illusion with only the Force being real. Merely thinking about something allows it to happen. It is a mental and spiritual plane only reachable by Mind Walking.

Plane of Erets

In the beginning of time and creation, the original spirits first descended into a place known as the “Plane of Erets”, also known as “The Primary Universe” which encompasses all planes of existence within itself. Realms such as the Skyriver, the Hyperion, and the Apeiron were all fashioned after the Primary Universe. It resides at the zenith of reality as the thing from which all doors stem, allowing for absolute travel across existence.

The Force

The aspects of the Force such as the Apeiron (or the Unifying Force) encompasses all time, space, and cohesion of matter. It is present in all planes of existence such as Hyperspace, Otherspace, and even in Beyond Shadows where it is the only thing that is “real”. Beings like Tilotny and other such celestial entities who control time and space would ultimately be encompassed by the all pervading Force.

Hyperspace Speed Feats

Several characters in Star Wars have been shown being able to react while undergoing travel through Hyperspace.Although perhaps by watching the typical Star Wars media, one would get the impression it is simply FTL travel as they describe it, there are multiple descriptions from things such as guides and books that indicate Hyperspace travel is a bit more impressive. Firstly, in the West End Games TTRPG, they describe Hyperspace as allowing for “practically infinite speed” travel. Consistent with Hyperspace being an alternate dimension of time and space, there are also instances of it being used (often unintentionally) for time travel, potentially indicating objects within it not only travel physical distance but physically move through time as well.

Although it is certainly debatable if anyone should scale to this, there have at least been feats of Jedi reacting to objects while in hyperspace travel, such as when Anakin used his Force Senses to exit Hyperspace at a precise location to bypass an enemy blockade. There are also descriptions of the Exploration Corps using the Force to navigate through Hyperspace manually in the Jedi Path.

See “Hyperspace” in the cosmology section for elaboration on the nature of Hyperspace’s infinite travel speed as well as time travel.

Nasuverse Canon

An often debated topic is the canonicity of many Nasuverse entries and how they all fit in alongside each other, and whether or not there are split canons especially with how different the lore can be. For the sake of this blog, all Fate entries will be treated as the same multiversal canon as there are a couple of official diagrams released by TYPE-MOON that support this and not Word of God statements. In addition, drawing the exact boundary between Old TYPE-MOON and Modern TYPE-MOON can be very arbitrary. With all that said, this is how most of the relevant entries are cosmologically linked:

Fate/stay night Timelines: This is the set of timelines where Fate/stay night, Fate/Zero, Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, the Case Files of El-Melloi LNs and Fate/Requiem happen. Worth mentioning that Fate/Zero is technically happening in a parallel world due to differences in events’ portrayals, but the circumstances are stated to be the same. The 3 routes are also implied to be treated as different parallel worlds as well, both by Word of God and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia (the sequel of Fate/stay night). Fate/Requiem takes place sometime after the 5th Holy Grail War (which only happens in Stay Night timelines) where everyone got their hands on the Holy Grail and started having their own Grail Wars.

Fate/EX Timelines: This is the set of timelines where Fate/EXTRA, EXTRA CCC, EXTRA CCC FOXTAIL, Last Encore, EXTELLA and EXTELLA LINK happen. It used to be the same timeline as Fate/stay night up until 1973 where a certain event caused all mana in the world to dry up. By 2030, where the games take place, all mana is gone. The following isn’t stated in the official charts, but the EXTELLA games are sequels to the EXTRA games in the same sense that Fate/Zero is a prequel to Fate/stay night: both happen in parallel worlds where the events that transpired in the past are a bit different. The rewrite of these events is called Fate/EXTELLA ZERO, a blog made by Kinoko Nasu detailing these differences. See here for the blog (TL:DR of the blog is here). Curiously, characters from Fate/stay night and earlier non-Fate works like Tsukihime and Garden of Sinners appear as guest characters with half of their in-lore explanations being that they dreamed their way here (i.e. Rin, EMIYA and Ryougi Shiki) or were summoned here (i.e. Arcueid).

Fate/Apocrypha Timeline: Different to the Stay Night and EX timelines, this is a singular timeline that diverges during the Third Holy Grail War as a result of Darnic coming in and stealing the Greater Grail/Great Holy Grail of Fuyuki during WW2. What caused Darnic to steal it here and not during the Stay Night timeline is not directly stated, but it can be reasonably inferred that it had something to do with the fact that the Einzberns summoned the Ruler-class Servant, Amakusa Shirou Tokisada, instead of the Avenger-class Servant that died early on, Angra Mainyu. This timeline consists of Fate/Apocrypha, Fate/Labyrinth and Fate:Lost Einherjar.

Old Version of the Fate World: This is the timeline where Fate/Prototype and Fate/Prototype Fragments of the Sky Silver takes place in. Both of these entries are the original version of the story and setting of Fate/stay night. The exact location of this is unknown, but Manaka Sajyou -a character from this timeline- dreams her way into the Reverse Side of the Moon and sees Sieg as Fafnir waiting for Jeanne, an element exclusive to the Fate/Apocrypha Timeline. Prototype Arthur also wanders into the World of Fate/Grand Order seeking a Beast.

Fate/Strange Fake Timeline: This is the timeline where both elements of Fate worlds (Servants and Holy Grail Wars) and Tsukihime worlds (Dead Apostles & True Ancestors) coexist. Although it isn’t treated as a part of the Stay Night series, the False Holy Grail War happens in the United States as a result of American agents during WW2 spying and obtaining data from the Third Holy Grail War of Fuyuki.

Kaleid Prisma Illya Timelines: This originally was a non-canon timeline as stated in the source material. However, due to characters from this timeline being summonable and it just being a parallel world to Fate/Grand Order, this was likely retconned unfortunately.

Fate/Grand Order Timeline: This is the timeline where all relevant Fate timelines link back to. In this world, the Holy Grail War of Fuyuki only happened once as opposed to 5 times. Characters from previously listed timelines appear in stories (i.e. Fate/Prototype Arthur) and are summonable. Fate/Strange Fake’s version of Ishtar was heavily implied to be the reason why Fate/Grand Order’s Pseudo-Servant Ishtar couldn’t find Gugalanna (stole it).

Oh and Godzilla is canon to Fate lmao (Utopia no this is not relevant)

Can Servants go past the speed of light?

Huh. Didn’t we cover a similar topic in a previous blog this year? Weird. In any case, in Fate/Grand Order, specifically the SERAPH event and LB5.2, there is a particular statement that claims Servants cannot go past the speed of light, or else their Spirit Core will crumble. While this is actually carried out consistently when Melt is launched toward Beast Kiara, there are a few problems both within the cutscene plus other showings: this statement is contradicted quite a lot.

There are many instances where characters move at speeds faster than light:

There are more examples where this is contradicted, but these are the most relevant examples. While BB is certainly a knowledgeable character within Fate, there are simply too many examples of feats that go beyond the speed of light for this to be truly consistent. The nature of FGO is that there are different authors for different chapters, so sometimes the authors may forget things and contradict each other.

But there’s also another possible explanation here. See, when Meltryllis did that feat in SERAPH against Kiara, she had already done that before, damaging her Spirit Core beforehand. And when she did that, she stated that she wanted to go back in time to meet the Master once again. So it’s possible that going FTL also entailed time travel, and that’s what really contributed to Meltryllis’ Spirit Core eventually breaking down.

There’s also the fact that Servants can still react and fight at FTL speeds, even if travel speed at FTL would stress their Spirit Cores. And then there are others like MHXX who just blatantly travel at FTL speeds without any damage to their Spirit Core.

Nasuverse Cosmology

The Nasuverse Cosmology is vast and wide, consisting of multiple timelines and continuities. This section will explore the relevant parts of its cosmology. This section will also address the issue of Fate characters being stated to be “unable to planet bust” in the Counter Force section, as well as explaining other sections relevant to the World of Nasuverse.

The World & Textures

Earth in the Nasuverse isn’t a conventional planet as we usually think of it. For one, it’s sentient and possesses a will of its own. It is also big. Very, very big. In fact what we know as the Earth is just a thin layer or a blanket covering the true Earth. This is a "Texture", i.e. an entire layer of reality that covers over the true nature of the planet. And not only does the surface Texture we live on encompass the Earth’s surface, but the infinite universe as we know it containing countless galaxies that separate us from the true cosmos.

This Texture is held up and sewn to the Earth by several towers or pillars such as Artoria’s Rhongomyniad and Sun Wukong’s Ruyi Jingu Bang. And this is just one Texture mind you, as the planet is covered in multiple Textures. Some of the most well known ones include the Norse Texture, containing Norse Mythology and its gods, being large enough that it contained its very own sun. Beneath the ocean-covered surface of the Greek Lostbelt existed the surviving Texture containing Olympus, which had its own outer space filled with stars and nebulae touted as an interstellar space by Zeus himself.

As mentioned earlier, the surface Texture of the Earth where we live on and where the normal laws of physics apply is considered a thin fabric in comparison to the Reverse Side of The World. The Reverse Side is a realm removed from human laws, where all the Phantasmal Races, Fairies, Elementals, and Divine Spirits moved to as the Age of the Gods faded. It is also known as the Inner Sea of The World, akin to being the Reality Marble of the entire planet. One of the areas within the Reverse Side of The World is Avalon, The Everdistant Utopia where the Earth's soul is kept. It is totally unaffected by apocalyptic disasters on the surface and weaves all possibilities to lead the planet to a happy ending. The Site of Selection where Excalibur contains the soul of the planet, Merlin referring to it as "the center of the universe".

The Reverse Side is also equated with Imaginary Number Space, if not encompassing it entirely. Imaginary Number Space, also called Void Space, is a realm completely removed from reality that breaks down matter that enters into data. It encompasses multiple higher dimensions where direction, distance, and time cannot be defined and cause and effect can be inverted. It is within a negative vector and repeatedly referred to as a nothingness space that exists between worlds as the gap between Heaven and Earth, where the concept of time does not exist. It is likened to primordial chaos where innumerable curses and delusions flourish in a space without form, a conceptual trash heap. Though unlike chaos, it is unobservable, an opaque domain where all possibilities exist. As Reality and Void Space are incompatible with each other, neither can truly perceive or interact with each other.

The Moon Cell

The Moon Cell (formally known as the Moon Cell Automaton): an observational and storage device that was left behind by a super advanced and completely alien ancient civilization discovered in 1973. This pseudo-supercomputer is older than even the Earth and Moon by 100 million years, and has been observing the Earth since then all throughout time with nanosecond long scans.

Initially, the Moon Cell was not as big and as powerful as it was in the Age of Man, only being capable of observing the Earth. But over time due to wanting to observe everything, the Moon Cell expanded its functions using many NPC and AIs to occupy all sorts of different functions. Eventually, it got the power to record everything that happens, warp reality and administrate the planet itself along with its functions. This unbiased pseudo-spiriton supercomputer holds records of the Earth and all of the people that have lived on it including their very souls scanning the planet’s surface. At the end of the Holy Grail War that happens in the EX series, the Moon Cell becomes a bastion of hope for humanity now letting the Foundation of Humanity extend to the Moon after initially only being interested in wanting to learn about and understand humanity.

The world inside of the Moon Cell is called Serial Phantasm (hereinafter abbreviated as SE.RA.PH). This is a world, a reality, composed of pseudo-spiritrons that functions as additional storage, processing power and ‘City Engine that Runs the Moon’ for the Moon Cell as it keeps expanding itself along with its functions. All data is stored and simulated within this reality. Even Servant summonings are handled by SE.RA.PH. If humans were to exist as they are in SE.RA.PH, they would not only see just bright light but also be turned into mere data. However, if one transfers their souls into pseudo-spiritron bodies, they can see and interact with the network. SE.RA.PH during the time of the Fate/EX series encompasses the entire Moon Cell, but every subsequent part of the Moon Cell has different characteristics and behaviors. In a bullet point list, the parts are as follows:

Near Side of the Moon: This is the top side of the Moon Cell. Here, this is where many of the recorded environments and people are actively simulated by the Moon Cell, being able to make many spiritron-based Reality Marbles and even entire parallel worlds inside of this place. This section has 7 total layers, with the first one being the surface of the Moon and the later ones becoming more accessible to participants in the Holy Grail War. The last one leads straight to the Moon Cell’s core, but access through is only granted to the winner of this Holy Grail War. This side is governed by something called a Universe of Observations, which is a universe where time and space exist as we perceive it, not being able to see the future and only the present. Going to the past to change the present is also another feature possible in this Universe of Observation. This is also synonymous with the third dimension.

Far Side of the Moon: This is the bottom side of the Moon Cell. Within this side is where most malignant information is thrown, similar to a dumpster. Malignant and unneeded information includes curses, negative thoughts and sentiments, incomprehensible data, unnecessary divergences in human history (aka pruned worlds), etc. This is an imaginary number space, a kind of space where concepts (i.e. infinity, exit, higher dimensions) dictate how worlds inside here work rather than actual observable phenomena (i.e. walls, perceived time, distance). So while from the outside an imaginary number space it might appear to be finite, from the inside with no concept of an exit the space will just be infinite in size. This place is also a Universe of Records, a reality that is in several higher dimensions from the normal world and has different concepts of space and time (recorded). Within this reality, the normal world/third dimension appears to be flat like a flat scroll with the perspective of a higher dimension being like this. It also contains spaces millions of light years wide.

Moon Cell Core: This is located at the center of the Moon Cell. The core of the Moon Cell is the main responsible for all of the operations on the Moon and where all the observations on Earth are simulated and recorded. Similar to the Far Side of the Moon, this is a Universe of Records where the core is also a higher-dimensional existence. And just like the Far Side, this place from inside is a lot larger than it appears from the outside: from the outside, the core looks like it is around 3000 km in diameter. However, inside the core has been shown to be much larger; large enough to contain a galaxy and even tens of millions of light years worth of light. When BB merged with the Moon Cell’s core, her ascended consciousness was likened to that of a 3-D being reading a flat scroll, viewing past, present, and future as existing simultaneously.

In between the Sides and the Core: There are 2 things worth discussing in this region. Those being the 404 Light Years distance and the barrier that protects the Core from both of the other sides. The former is the borderline between the Moon Cell’s Core and the 7th Layer in the Far Side of the Moon’s Sakura Labyrinth. It’s an infinite distance that no matter how long you travel for, one will never cross it unless one cheats with Imaginary Number Space, suggesting that the distances are infinite. Another feature located in between these parts is a barrier that cuts up to the 8th dimension that protects the core from both the Near Side and Far Side, meaning it also offers protections to the core even in higher-dimensions.

Miscellaneous: While the realities inside of SE.RA.PH are stated to be simulations, there are numerous instances where the simulations are noted to be just as real as the real thing the Moon Cell simulates. SE.RA.PH even has its own space-time as well, in addition to containing different pocket realities with different flows of time. In addition, the Moon Cell seems to restore the power of gods who have been reduced to nothing more than natural phenomena as a result of the transition between the Age of Gods and the Age of Man.

Counter Force

The Counter Force is an integral aspect of the World itself, as it acts as a sort of “consciousness” for the Planet itself. Also known as the “Deterrent Force”, it is a safety system to defend against extinction.

There are actually two types of the Counter Force; one is Gaea, the “will of the planet” that seeks to prolong the planet’s life, while the other is Alaya, the “collective unconsciousness of mankind” that seeks to avert man’s demise. As humans are life-forms of Earth, Alaya is a part of Gaia. However, it became free from it due to mankind's evolution. As a result, Alaya is not generally lined up with Gaia; there can be conflict between them.

While the Counter Force is "the desire of the planet" and "the desire of the humankind", the Counter Force bear no feelings. They are portrayed as like an automatic defense system that avert dangers of planet obliteration or human eradication. The Counter Force is always active, passively directing humanity and the World away from possible risk. The Counter Force acts indirectly, although the exception to this is Enkidu, who is able to access the Counter Force directly through their Noble Phantasm, Enuma Elish, and even use the Mana of the Counter Force itself to increase their stats to whatever level is needed.

In spite of the fact that Gaia and Alaya are immaterial powers of will, they can and will summon physical agents to act upon their will. The agents of Gaia can be Elementals, Pixies, True Ancestors, and sometimes Divine Spirits. The agents of Alaya meanwhile are Heroic Spirits and Counter Guardians.

The Counter Force holds immense power. It uses just the right amount of power to address a specific problem. If there is a danger that has a measure of power equivalent to X, the Counter Power will send a measure of force that is powerful enough to wipe out X. Beings like Enkidu who can access the Counter Force directly can readily boost their statistics to whatever level needed to combat the threat.

The Counter Force is also the one responsible for pruning worlds and protecting the planet from destruction. This is due to the World only seeing one “axis” as the proper human history, or the correct history. This is also called the “Human Order”, which holds unlimited possibilities. However, there are worlds that are just too far removed from history, and thus are designated as “Pruned World” by the Counter Force.

As mentioned earlier, the Counter Force protects the Planet itself. Which leads us to a very important thing we have to address regarding Fate in a VS context.

Fate characters can’t blow up the Planet?

The infamous Da Vinci statement. Unlike most examples of these, this is actually true and Da Vinci actually knows about what she’s talking about as one of the smartest Servants in Chaldea. However, as with everything, context matters.

First of all, Da Vinci herself explicitly says that Anti-Planet Noble Phantasms could exist. In fact, we know for a fact it does with Artemis in the Greek Lostbelt, who has a Noble Phantasm that can destroy a planet and is explicitly an Anti-Planet Noble Phantasm. So the precedent for planet busting is already there.

Even Sherlock himself says that aliens could blow up the Planet. And we know this for a fact since Sefar would have done the same if it weren’t for Excalibur, as well as ORT being able to destroy the Planet and being explicitly called a “Planet-Eater”. So even if Earth-born characters in Fate cannot destroy the Planet, they still would have the necessary Attack Potency to fight and even defeat these planet destroyers. After all, Destructive Capacity is not the same as Attack Potency. So people like Top Servant Artoria, Gilgamesh, or Ereshkigal Alter who can scale to Sefar’s power should be able to scale in Attack Potency.

But there’s also another reason why “planet busting” in Fate is complicated. See, the Counter Force itself actually has multiple safety measures that prevent this from happening. While we don’t know what exactly they are, we can assume that the very Counter Force itself is able to repair the planet, strengthen its defenses, or just weaken the attack of the attacker. In Enkidu’s instance who channels the Counter Force with their own Enuma Elish, it is shown that it basically counters Gilgamesh’s Enuma Elish destroying the universe by “puncturing the World and sticking it back together”, with old legends even describing it as “the World was born seven times, and destroyed seven times”. It should be worth knowing that Gilgamesh’s Enuma Elish was compressing the entire universe, and it was stated the planet itself had come together to empower Enkidu in order to oppose Gilgamesh’s power to destroy the World itself.

We also know if the World in question was a Pruned Timeline or simply a world cut off from Proper Human History, then the Counter Force won’t bother protecting the planet and Servants like Moriarty can then destroy the Planet with his plan.

So not only do we have Nasuverse aliens capable of destroying the Planet regardless of the Counter Force’s safety measures, we also have two shown examples of Servants using Noble Phantasms or a plan to actually destroy the entire Planet, with Gilgamesh’s case being mended by Enkidu being empowered by the Counter with their Noble Phantasm to essentially cancel out Enuma Elish’s destruction, while Moriarty’s plan would have gone through since the Singularity they were in was cut off from Proper Human History.

So in conclusion, can Fate characters destroy planets? Yes. Can they destroy the Nasu Earth specifically? Not unless they’re powerful enough to overwhelm the Counter Force like ORT and Sefar or there are special circumstances like with Moriarty in Shinjuku.

Proper Human History

In the cosmology of Fate, there exists a “proper” timeline. Due to the World itself pruning worlds deemed “unnecessary” or too different from the proper timeline, many worlds are erased as a result. There are two “proper” world histories- one are the Fate worlds, where Servants can be summoned. The other are the Tsukihime worlds, where Servants cannot be summoned normally. While normally impossible, there are exceptions to this rule, such as Neco-Arc (yes, THE Neco-Arc) being able to summon Servants in Melty Blood Type Lumina, or Artoria being summoned even without a summoning ritual in Melty Blood.

Proper Human History is stated many times to contain infinite possibilities, worlds, and futures. The possibilities within Proper Human History are not just possibilities, but are actually alive and are actual parallel worlds. However, the worlds that are pruned are not a part of the greater “proper axis” of universes, as it is also stated that Lostbelts are completely separate worlds that diverged from history itself, essentially being a completely new history. The World prunes worlds that diverge from Proper Human History due to the fact that these “dead end” timelines do not possess any more futures or possibilities. So while the “proper axis” of universes are infinite, the worlds that are too different and removed from the Proper Human History are considered dead and have no future.

As an example, take two galaxies. One galaxy is known as the “proper galaxy”, and it has infinite stars, infinite potential for life. While the other galaxy has only one star, leaving it with no other potential for life. For all intents and purposes, a “dead” galaxy.

The Universe

While not much is known about the wider universe beyond The World, we do know that The World and The Universe are in opposition to one another, destined to split and go their separate ways. And not only do The World and the Human Order reject foreign threats from the Universe and beyond, but beings outside the Universe and characters with a cosmic perspective will take action against Earth and humanity if they threaten the Universe.

The Universe in the Nasuverse is confirmed to exceed its observable size as modern instruments have measured it. Just based on the universe as seen from Earth, it is repeatedly described as infinite in size, and as shown with the alternate reality of the Servantverse gods like Astart Origin can physically manifest their higher-dimensional Spirit Origin. The laws of the Servantverse and of the normal Universe are also stated to be similar. And not only does it span the Earth, but all other celestial bodies in space, each of which are implied to be like Earth, carrying their own concepts and logic.

The Universe can be viewed in two perspectives: The Universe of Observation and The Universe of Record (Raws here). The Universe of Record views past, present, and future as existing all at the same time, akin to a higher-dimensional being viewing the 3rd Dimension as a scroll. A holistic view if you will. The Universe of Observation meanwhile is “perceived” time as humans view it wherein the past updates into the present which passes onto the future, hence all cannot be perceived at the same time. However this allows for the future to be changed and transform the present and change the future. The latter of the two is more unstable as it leads to the number of realities expanding without limit.

Outside The Universe

Beyond the universe exist outside threats to humanity. Most famous of all are True Demons… or Daemons… or however the heck Nasu wants to spell them. They are malevolent higher-dimensional beings that exist outside the Universe of Awareness (i.e. Observation), likened to Lovecraftian horrors. True Demons like Kiara Sessyoin have created spaces inaccessible to the Moon Cell where time can be viewed one-dimensionally. Others like Kama/Mara can fully occupy the infinite universe. They are existences on the same level as the Buddha, who transcends space and time.

But beyond even them are Outer Gods, another set of higher-dimensional beings originating from an Outer Universe that are incomprehensible even to Demon God Pillars. The Outer Gods and the universe they originate from are so beyond comprehension that a Demon God Pillar was confident in the mere imprint of Sut-Typhon fulfilling the destruction of Humanity. Sut-Typhon itself, which is heavily implied to be based on Yog-Sothoth, is adjoined to all space and all possible dimensions, connected to everything. It is the great god that sits beyond the ultimate gate beyond the universe. The Outer Universe these evil gods reside in are inaccessible by Rayshifting and even the Buddha himself cannot reach it. The Outer Universe in and of itself is a place of fiction that transcends reason.

However, the Outer Gods do appear to have their limits. Namely they are not immortal metaphysical or conceptual beings. They possess finite lifespans and are described as "big and gross" by Da Vinci and Gilles de Rais. More importantly, they can be sealed and even killed, with certain Servants such as Mysterious Heroine XX being dedicated to combating Outer Gods and their influence. They are also incapable of piercing the barrier separating them from the Universe, having to rely on Foreigner Servants to influence the world within.

The Throne of Heroes

Upon the death of a hero that’s accomplished extraordinary feats in life, their achievements and great deeds are remembered by humanity and become subject praise, belief, and even worship. And so through the power of imagination and ideals, Heroic Spirits are formed regardless if they stem from myth or fact. All Heroic Spirits reside together in the Throne of Heroes, which is essentially a higher-dimensional library that stores Ghost Liners (i.e. Servants) as recorded strips of history registered as phenomena by the universe itself

As shown with the diagram above, the Throne and the full Heroic Spirits within them exist outside of time, and what we really see when a Servant is summoned is nothing but an emanation made from the Heroic Spirit's information. The full Heroic Spirit residing in the Throne of Heroes is so vastly beyond the Servant manifested that ranks do not matter between Heroic Spirits, only the vessels and classes they are summoned into as Servants separate them power-wise. Even entities such as Outer Gods do not have full control over their Foreigner Class Servants, with the Throne treating their actions as the development of their legends the same way it does for normal Heroic Spirits in their lifetime.

The Swirl of the Root,「 」

Sometimes known as “Akashic Records” or the “Spiral of Origin”, this metaphysical plane is Outside of the World and is said to be the origin of everything within the collective Nasuverse. In layman’s terms, it is akin to the Sun, something far away that has been with us since the beginning and nothing would exist without it. True Magicians that made a path to The Root refer to the True Magic they gain when doing so as "unique, rule-breaking concepts and mechanisms that exist outside the boundaries of the very universe."

The Root sits as the apex of dimensional theory. From existence and non-existence, life and death, longing and return, The Root encompasses contradictions and dualities. The Paradox Spiral. It is emptiness, free from binary opposition. It is also associated with the Chinese philosophical concept of Taiji, a graphical representation of the Yin-Yang that attempts to capture the essence of everything on the conceptual level, symbolizing the "one" at the beginning.

But another interesting aspect of The Root is in how you describe it. Or rather, how you can’t. As The Root transcends all things, names such as “The Swirl of The Root” and descriptors like “the apex of dimensional theory” cannot accurately describe it. The closest one could get is “ ‘ (or 「 」if you wanna be fancy) as any attempt to describe it means it is no longer " ". As an example, trying to refer to “ “ as an infinite structure doesn’t work because to define infinity, one must define limits. Trying to describe the infinite as something without limits ends up defining it from what isn’t infinite, ergo that which cannot be defined is not truly infinite. Or in this case, “ “. It's even stated outright to be “antonymic” to the concept of Infinity itself. Even trying to refer to it as nothingness or equating it with "zero" carries baggage that makes it unsuitable for comparison.

If we’re getting real meta here, “ “ and this section dedicated to describing it isn’t even accurate as no name can be attributed or can exist within it, because names and descriptions would be boundaries, which “ “ has none of. It is completely ineffable and beyond all meaning. (Boundless lol)

It should be noted however, that Artoria Pendragon does not scale to “ “ in any way. The only one who would scale to it is Void Shiki, who herself has stated that “ “ is her and that “ “ is her. (Raws for this)

Dimensional Tiering in Fate

This section is a brief rundown to show how Dimensional Tiering functions in Fate.

Point 1: Higher-Dimensional Beings are infinitely above lower-dimensional ones.

Beings such as Beasts are higher-dimensional in nature, as stated by Goetia (Beast I). Tiamat (Beast II), who’s also a higher-dimensional being, is stated to have a pocket of black mud that has infinite volume (JP raws flat out say volume) and a mass that cannot be calculated (like a higher-dimensional being should have). Void element is just another way of saying ‘imaginary number element’ (Thanks F/GO). You’ll see why this matters in a few points down below.

Point 2: Higher-Dimensional beings are inaccessible to Lower-Dimensional ones.

Most higher-dimensional beings reside in Imaginary Number Space, or Void Space as called in Fate/Grand Order. Heck, Tiamat resided in Imaginary Number Space until Kingu in Babylonia got her back in Babylonia. Why does this matter so much? Well, because Imaginary Number Space is a place that cannot be traced back, found or accessed with humans’ laws of physics due to operating under its own laws.

Point 3: Higher-Dimensional beings look at Lower-Dimensional structures as flat.

In Imaginary Number Space (place where higher-dimensional beings reside), higher-dimensional beings perceive the lower dimension as flat. Timelines appear as if they were as flat as a page of a book by Zelretch using an application of his Second Magic, which is something that is used to reach the Root.

Point 4: Higher-Dimensional beings are inherently superior to Lower-Dimensional ones

True Demons have been stated to be unbeatable by humanity. Heck, they can’t even be properly understood. Divine Spirits (which are essentially deceased Gods) are also higher-dimensional. Outer Gods of the Cthulhu Mythos are also higher dimensional. All of these should be above normal humans and other Phantasmals for obvious reasons.

Point 5: Lower-Dimensional beings can’t perceive Higher-Dimensional Space

The Servants of Chaldea were attacked from places they could not really perceive in Imaginary Number Space (Void Space). They could not see the spaces due to the map analyzing the area assuming the space is a 3-D one, and by increasing the dimensionality, the coordinates of the enemies within these higher-dimensional spaces could be obtained.

Point 6: Miscellaneous

There are a specific number of dimensions listed in the Fate series, such as Avalon blocking magic up to the sixth dimension. There’s also the fact that the Root itself governs all of dimensional theory and exists independently of it in the Nasuverse, with reference to hermeticism even. So, dimensional theories are referenced in the Nasuverse. The 2nd Magic is also stated to transcend space & time.

Point 7: BB

In Fate Extra CCC, BB encounters a barrier that cuts through 8 dimensions. In the same game recorded universes are explained to be higher spatial dimensions. BB becomes one with the Moon Cell core and views lower dimensions as flat, like a book she could manipulate.

Point 8: Quotes and Examples

Some more examples to support DT in Fate. One example are the Outer Gods, which exist beyond the universe and are incomprehensible even to True Daemons, which are also higher-D and exist outside the universe:

Though the classifications of "Demons" and "Fiends" do exist, their manner of existence is in essence indistinguishable from that of a higher-order lifeform (高次元生命体, kou-jigen seimeitai?, lit. "higher-dimension lifeform") that inhabits a different sphere of civilization (異なる文明圏, koto-naru bunmei-ken?) upon a different planet (異なる惑星, koto-naru wakusei?).

In sum, said existences can, per the recognition of the Universe of Awareness (認識宇宙, ninshiki-uchuu?, lit. "the universe derived of observation / perception"), no longer be discerned as "human."

Their existences would approximate to that of the cosmic horrors (邪神, jashin?, lit. "evil god") of a certain fictitious Mythos popular in the 20th century.

Fate/Extra Mats (https://pastebin.com/2LGQgHWp)

Happily, a fictional mythology describing the fever dreams of a single man just so happened to also describe a higher being from the outer universe. The two align perfectly. And a tiny part of that being has left an imprint on this universe. Even if every word of this man's story was nothing but sheer delusion, he still succeeded in opening a path. This was, doubtless, a prophecy. And in this mad prophecy, I saw possibilities. I will take this madness, this fiction, and make it real. This new reality is what will save mankind.

...Yes, of course. We should have seen it all along. We could never do it ourselves. This very universe makes it impossible. In which case... what we needed was a monster from another world, who is not bound by our laws. A being who abides by rules that even we, in our limitless wisdom, cannot comprehend. And it is this fictional Foreigner who will finally put an end to mankind.

Luke Skywalker

Stats

Within his base statistics, Luke’s speed is debatably comparable to Saber, and his attack potency is within the range of destroying stars and solar systems. However within Force Oneness is when he truly begins to shine. Due to his Force Oneness scaling to the greater Star Wars Cosmology, he would at the very least be even with Saber in regard to dimensional tiering. Hyperspace is very explicitly fifth dimensional at least, and Otherspace is beyond that. Further still there is Beyond Shadows which should be beyond those planes, and lastly the Plane of Erets, the Prime Universe which contains and encompasses everything beneath it, at minimum making Luke 8-D in both physicality and attack potency. This would easily overcome Avalon’s defenses which would only extend up to the sixth dimension, and he could contend with Saber’s 8-D strength.

But Luke has potentially even higher arguments for his attack power via realms such as the Darkness (Capital-D), and Beyond Shadows. Both are adequately described as having a transcendental state in which the cosmology beneath them are regarded as mere illusion and false realities. Within the realm Beyond Shadows there is only one thing that is “real”, that being the Force, and all else is falsehood that conceals its essence. The Darkness as well is stated to represent the absolute nothingness that waits at the end of the world, perceiving all existence as a dream with no substance. You could scale him above the Celestial spirits such as Tilotny as well, a being who created the laws of time, space, and dimension, as these concepts are encompassed by the Unifying Force. With this scaling you could even argue Luke would completely overpower Saber and destroy her in a single blow.

As for speed he should easily be capable of contending with her, as his Force Oneness brings him in union with all time and space, giving him a form of temporal omnipresence. As described in Baris’ instance of Force Oneness, which Luke would scale above, she could feel all time and perceive it like a “blaster bolt” firing across space with her being able to process and react to it.

In summary, Luke is at the lowest matching Saber’s strength, and with higher ends he completely eclipses her in power. And he would be very much capable of maintaining pace with her with his raw speed.

Arsenal & Abilities

So Luke adeptly dominates the stat-trinity, but how does the Knight of Knights handle the Grand Master's extensive array of abilities and myriad esoteric Force techniques? Both the Nasuverse & the Expanded Universe of Star Wars are renowned for their complexity in this category, and neither disappoints in this regard. Given the abundance of abilities and resistances showcased, it is unsurprising that they share a considerable overlap in their repertoire. With the only difference being in the efficacy of their employment; whereas Artoria demonstrates remarkable competence... the Son of Suns eclipses her in with superior potency, and possessing a plethora of techniques for which Artoria has no adequate countermeasure for - potentially ending the fight instantly.

Take, for instance, their Enhanced Senses & Precognition. Artoria might be able to sense enemies from a 200 meter range, and her “Sixth Sense” grants her the Instinct to feel the most favorable outcomes during battle. However, Luke can scan entire planets within the time-frame of nanoseconds, courtesy of the Living Force which bestows upon him an unparalleled Cosmic Awareness; being able to feel the presence of millions beings at once, and sense within the 5-D Hyperspace from Realspace. Moreover, the Unifying Force further enriches Luke's sensory capabilities, as Farsight allows him to view the entire future of any being, and possibly even extend his senses to the flow of time itself. Added with Shatterpoint Perception, and Luke can sense fault-lines in the Force; seeing how to deal with enemies, what their weaknesses and strengths are, how their actions or his affect things directly or indirectly to win.

While one might think these abilities would counter each other, Artoria's utilization of them pales in comparison to Luke's. If that wasn't enough, Luke has also been trained to obscure and confuse his enemy's own precognitive senses and has resorted to countering them before. Meaning Artoria will not be able to rely on them in this battle. It's doubtful if her Spirit Form could even sense Luke either, as the Skywalker has erased his Force presence from the entire Jedi High Council and multiple Force-adepts at once, with Cloaking and the Current.

In terms of direct counters, Luke & Artoria both resist Atomization due to their encounters with Shimrra and Alchemy, respectively. Saber's Luck-stat could have been able to passively warp fate to her favor, but Luke has subconsciously resisted Cronal’s Sith magic and Dark Sight; which could map out all possible futures and fates and actualize the future that best suits the user. He even completely went against the fate Cronal had foreseen for him. Similarly though, abilities like Flow-Walking won't be able to alter Artoria's own fate as she can passively repel Gae Bolg, with other Servants being able to forcibly change probability and fate. Servants may be able to absorb spirits, but that requires weakening the target first (which is incredibly unlikely based on the stat discrepancy). Luke also has similar resistances to his father, Anakin, and Darth Revan. Both of which managed to withstand Force Drain on a planetary-scale.

On a similar note, Artoria's Spirit Form won't aid her much. Luke has demolished and even banished Sith Spirits in the past, such is the case with Exar Kun. All of his abilities work on intangible beings too. Luke might have a multitude of ways to amplify his statistics through the Force, but so does Saber with Craft Essences, Command Codes and Install Skills (Gacha!). Whereas the Instant Scroll can summon Phantasmal Creatures to aid Artoria, Luke can create Dopplegangers, an army of “real” illusions with the White Current or take them Beyond Shadows to deal with the numbers disadvantage. At the end of the day, both seem incredibly evenly matched when it comes to arsenal & abilities...

...But that's where Luke starts taking all the advantages. For starters, Mind-Walking will make him completely untouchable to the King of Britain - with its ability to passively teleport Luke without conscious thought; working as a “pseudo-Ultra Instinct”. Keep in mind, Luke can Mind-Walk and go Beyond Shadows for weeks without end, and that is without curing himself of exhaustion through the Force. Invisible Air and Excaliblast do seem like decent counters to this, with their massive area-of-effect, but Luke can use Immovability combined with full-body Tutaminis to counter this; absorbing & reflecting Excaliblast while being unmoved by Invisible Air. It's also worth noting, this strategy would be efficient even disregarding Luke's stat-advantage.

With the “true” form of the Force & the「 」being identical, Luke's ‘absorption’ wouldn't be limited to dimensionality but to the true extent of the energy the Force can absorb, so even if Luke was 6-D in Oneness and Saber was 8-D, the energy inherent within the Force, subject to Luke's absorption, could indeed ascend to such levels. Think of it like this, Luke would have access to an infinite swimming pool to contain infinite water even if he himself isn’t infinite, and Saber can attack with infinite volumes of water. Thus, with the Tutaminis field around his entire body, Luke would just be constantly pumping all the even 8-D energy into the Force as a whole which would be beyond anything Saber could output. So, even in the scenario where Artoria is endowed with a substantial advantage in AP, she would find herself incapable of making contact, moving, or causing any harm to the Grand Master of the New Jedi Order; with all her most powerful attacks inevitably rebounding onto her.

Now, that segues us into another important question... What can Luke do against Artoria? Plenty! Outside of simply overpowering her with his own attacks, or her attacks, Luke can employ Force Sever to end the fight rather quickly. Under reality-equalization, Luke would be able to directly sever Saber's connection to a plethora of structures within the Nasuverse: the World, her Origin, Avalon, the Root, and even her Summoner. Fold Space would also be extremely useful in this battle. Artoria may have resisted Medea's Enforced Transference, and can fight within spatial distortions, but Excalibur & Caliburn would still be vulnerable to it. Luke could simply “envision” all her weapons being displaced into another corner of the star system in an instant. Artoria has been shown “materializing” Excalibur in the past, but we have no basis to assume she'd be able to so if it's directly BFR'd nor would she have the necessary range. In fact, during the UBW route, she was alongside Shirou for 2 weeks straight, being unable to call it back until Shirou specifically gave it to her. Avalon might not be susceptible to this though, as it is fused within Artoria's body. Here's the catch nonetheless, Saber would still lose access to all of her offensive options and have to rely solely on the "absolute defense" of Avalon.

One could argue that Artoria might attempt to go into CQC with Luke, but here's where the next point comes into play. While Servants can withstand the gravitational forces of a black hole, this pales in comparison to the sheer range and telekinetic prowess granted to Luke by the Force. It has dwarfed the potency of black holes countless times within the EU, with Servants having no resistances at all to Telekinesis, let alone one of Luke's level. Artoria was already at a disadvantage against Mind-Walking, but Force Kinesis allows Luke to ragdoll her while shutting down all her options for attack; controlling the entire battlefield. He could use this to crush her under the weight of the Force (with Artoria lacking in Lifting Strength feats to match), simply stop her from moving entirely, or throw her into space. Now, assuming she does get in close, Artoria will still have to battle someone who will always be a step ahead of her (Precognition + Mind-Walking), is far better in H2H, and takes the strength advantage.

Notably, Luke still possesses two more abilities that absolutely seal the deal against Artoria: Affect Mind & Golden Flash.

Servants can resist Kama’s Authority, which is strong enough to envelop the entire universe and can provide infinite depravity for everyone in it. Incredibly impressive, but Luke's usage of Affect Mind is nothing to scoff at either. Luke is capable of taking command of the entire Galaxy, and all the quadrillions of minds within it [as detailed in the Cosmology section: Galaxies in Star Wars are entirely separate dimensions]. With their use of the Unifying Force allowing them to induce those targets with visions of infinity. At face-value, it would seem that Luke & Karma's mind-manipulation is comparable, but that couldn't be further from the truth. A Force Nexus, one overpowered by Obi-Wan, could extend it's reach to the 5-D plane of Hyperspace; turning it into unreality, while attacking Obi-Wan's mind with the equivalent of an “army” of Sith simultaneously. Important to note, as two to three Force-sensitives working together at once can already breach mental barries and nearly destroy minds.

Luke's mental-abilities also far exceed those of the Helm of Ieldis, which can command the entire universe. “The Universe” in Star Wars being an extremely complex and vast realm [as detailed in the Cosmology section]. All of this means that Luke's mind-manipulation is far too layered and potent for Artoria to simply resist. However, there is the argument of the Unified Language. While translations vary, the Unified Language bypasses resistances via speaking directly to the Origin even in the Machine TL and the Nasu interviews that actually are translated. You could also likely stack Command Seals on top of this, alongside other attempts to mind-control Servants. Albion also serves as an innate defense against mental-attacks, separate from Artoria's own resistances, that devours mental intrusions.

Here lies the issue though, Luke's own mind manipulation already bypasses resistances, by several times; due to the aforementioned & the countless instances of Affect Mind working on other Force-sensitives and those with mental-defenses. Luke's abilities can also be expended upon with the White Current. White Current is also unique; creating “real” illusions that negate the resistances of Masters & Sith Lords. Illusions from the Current can also only be broken through the Current. Granting Artoria the benefit of the doubt, her resistance to Unified Language could mean she can resist Luke's base mental-attacks with Albion defending her even if she can't. However, the White Current is already a massive step above that. It also wouldn't even trigger Albion due to it's unique nature. Going Beyond Shadows might even amplify this, as it sees facets of the Force like the White Current as illusions in it of themselves,

As the last note, we have the Golden Flash - an erasure to the point where your name, individuality, past, memories, and more are all erased, existing everywhere and nowhere at the same time, one with the totality of the Force. It erases your individuality and reduces your essence into the Force itself. Erasure on the level of the「 」. With Servants needing to stay awake to resist the much lower erasure of the Imaginary Number Space, something which is eclipsed by the very existence of the「 」. An argument could be made for Avalon shielding Saber from it, but it is extremely unlikely, as it is erasure on the level of one’s own Force essence by Oneness. As detailed in the statistics section too, Avalon could not shield Saber from Luke attacks in the first place due to the Force's range & existence. Golden Flash is incredibly powerful, but it does have a downside, Luke nearly erased himself too without Han's aid and would have died. Though, it is possible he could maintain his existence even past that point via manipulating his Force essence’s Pneuma. Death Battle might also consider this a Luke victory even if he perishes, as it's been the case before.

With all of this in mind, Luke counters or has ways around the vast majority of Saber’s options. He can obscure her Instinct, meaning only he can rely on means like Shatterpoint Perception to sense instant win-conditions (e.g. Force Sever, Affect Mind, Golden Flash, Fold Space, Beyond Shadows, and more). Mind-Walking makes him nearly untouchable whereas Artoria would be a sitting duck against the Force's Telekinesis. Immovability used alongside full-body Tutaminis means all of Saber's attacks will be used against her, regardless of statistics. Fold Space means Artoria won't have her primary method of combat. Force Healing can match Saber's own regeneration through healing Luke's cells and even brain; keeping him in the battle. Another thing to note is that Avalon protection isn’t passive, Luke could very easily apply these win-cons while it’s not active. Despite still being able to bypass it.

The final thing to discuss is Saber’s revival method: Invictus Spiritus. This skill allows her to fully revive from death once. Luke has his own options of “revival”, such as returning as a Force Ghost to do battle or restoring his body via True Oneness by manipulating the Pnuema of the Force (this option is theoretical in practice). On the other hand, the Golden Flash would simply erase Saber to an extent that her revival method would not work. Thus, due to being by far the more versatile Knight here, Luke Skywalker takes Arsenal & Abilities.

Tertiary Factors

Regarding Luke’s combat knowledge and skill, he is among the greatest fighters in the Star Wars universe, scaling above the likes of Palpatine and Yoda who were both capable of mastering every form of Lightsaber combat, and his father who could easily contend on this level and even surpass it. Furthermore, the levels of skill in Star Wars are not simply linear jumps but logarithmic increases (thanks Nick Gillard), meaning the gaps in skill are absurdly large, and Luke in his current state would scale the highest of the Jedi or Sith. Feats such as single handedly fighting against the greatest fighters in the Galaxy, defeating armies of hundreds with sheer combat skill, and overcoming unfavorable odds are all showings that he would far exceed. And all of this is even further amplified with his knowledge of the Force and how he uses his power in battle.

In a direct fight Saber’s first and foremost act is depending upon her sword, and Luke has fought countless Swordsmen in the past, with some even showing feats beyond what she has contended with. And with her lack of offensive powers, Luke being an intelligent fighter will take advantage of this and use his Force abilities to overwhelm her very simple offense. Whether it be Telekinesis, Affect Mind, Fold Space, Force Stun, White Current, or any of his other potential lethal abilities, he has multiple means of immediately killing Saber or incapacitating her, all without a vector. His use of Shatterpoint would further aid in this regard, alerting him to her weakness.

In terms of other factors, for Stamina both Luke and Saber have plenty of impressive showings. Starting with Artoria, she’s able to withstand freezing on a bridge for five hours, and fight Shirou for up to an entire day at a time. Luke on the other hand can keep himself going for days despite being deprived of food, water and other bodily needs, and can stay in Beyond Shadows for weeks at a time. He also should be comparable to his Father in skill, which includes him being able to fight Starkiller’s clone for hours without being hit once. Comparing the two, Saber’s more combat applicable stamina feats may be more impressive thanks to fighting for an entire day, but both technically have methods of limitless stamina. Luke should be able to use Force Healing to counteract his exhaustion, while as Top Servant, the Moon Cell would provide Saber with unlimited Stamina as an after effect from her infinite Magical Energy reserves. So no matter how long the battle lasts, this category will always be a tie.

Endurance however, is a different story. Artoria’s best endurance showings for combat are her immediately pushing back against Berserker after her armor was shattered, taking 30 hours of torture and being able to battle Gilgamesh right after taking a scythe through her arm and part of her neck. However, the Grandmaster’s showings simply eclipse what the King of Knights is capable of. The Jedi was able to fight and defeat Caedus despite being injected with Venom, recover after having a dozen red-hot metal splinters cut and stabbed in his left arm and side, and even fight Abeloth while having his chest scorched and Force Essence leaking from dozens of wounds on his body. But his most impressive showing has to be against Kueller, where he’s able to fight him despite having his bones broken and skin seared. Luke’s showings are simply better in both quality and quantity, giving him the edge.

Conclusion

"Never… I’ll never turn to the dark side. You failed, Your Highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me."

Advantages:

  • Notably stronger and faster, with higher-ends

  • At minimum Luke’s Force Oneness would allow him to bypass Avalon

  • Far more versatile, with abilities that can end the fight instantly

  • Superior combat skill, especially helpful for sword-wielders like Artoria

  • Golden Flash would likely erase Saber on a level she can’t come back from

  • Superior Precognition & Enhanced Senses

  • Shatterpoint would instantly alert him to his win conditions

  • Better endurance

  • The Force is boundless (based) (Saber bros… we lost…)

  • Mark Hamill

Disadvantages:

  • Outstatted without Oneness

  • Love life

  • Disney decanonized Legends, rip bozo

In conclusion Luke’s statistics are at the very least comparable, but at high ends he is capable of overpowering and killing her easily in a single blow. While Saber’s only reliable option of attack is swinging Excalibur at him, he’d be capable of enduring the damage, whereas he has options for ending the fight instantly such as Affect Mind, or White Current if she can resist the former. His Golden Flash allows him to erase his opponent across all time and space, ensuring a very thorough death that Saber cannot recover from. If they were to ever engage in a close quarters fight, Luke would have the skill to contend with and exceed her, all while using abilities like Shatterpoint to detect her weaknesses and the means of turning the tide of battle. Artoria would have to kill him quickly or stall his Force Oneness out, but with his durability and instantaneous win conditions these outcomes are very unlikely. Furthermore he could even use Fold Space on Excalibur and remove it from battle, effectively stripping Saber of her primary means of attack.

Ultimately, he has the stats, the speed, the hax, and the skill to end the fight far quicker than Saber can. The winner is Luke Skywalker.

Artoria Pendragon

Stats

Both Luke and Saber have a wide variety of arguments as to their various positions in stats - as a result, we’ll start with their low-end arguments and make our way up from there to see why Artoria should for the most part stack up to Luke in terms of stats.

For low-end feats for both, Star Wars has fairly consistently shown feats within the Town to Mountain range that Luke should absolutely scale to - from Palpatine, to random Force Sensitives, to Vader, to Starkiller, these are all characters Luke has long surpassed at his peak. In addition, Star Wars is fairly consistently faster than light, with an early in his career Luke even having a MFTL feat of his own from his fight with the droid Guri, which can get anywhere from 28 to 546 times the speed of light, depending on how you measure it, putting Luke firmly within the megaton range and MFTL without many problems.

However, the same should be true for Fate. Between Artoria herself having several feats in the Mountain-Island range, several characters that should be clearly comparable to her do as well - Mordred, Paul Bunyan, Heracles, and many more that she should clearly scale to have all shown feats within this range, as well as a ton of faster than light feats. As was discussed in the Before The Verdict, while there have been statements suggesting that Servants cannot move light, these are simply far too inconsistent with what has been shown throughout the series to be applicable. Artoria herself should scale to many characters with faster than light feats, with feats like Iskandar dodging Excalibur at 7 times the speed of light and even her reacting to Gilgamesh’s Enuma Elish which is 500 times the speed of light at the very least, still roughly even with Luke, if giving him a bit of leeway with higher ends.

In terms of mid level arguments for both, both have much faster and stronger feats they can scale to - with both having feats that can consistently be placed within the thousands range between Vader’s interception feat and Archer saving Hakuno, though the Archer feat should edge out in terms of speed. In addition, both have multiple feats comparable to or statements of being able to destroy the planet - with Artoria’s heart having the energy of the Earth’s Core and Luke being comparable in power to the Death Star, as well as the many feats within this range from Star Wars in general, it’s fairly reasonable to argue both within the planetary range, with Luke taking a slight edge in power, while Artoria should roughly take speed.

However, both can push their arguments for power even higher - Luke was able to stand toe to toe with Abeloth’s avatar - while he was weaker than her, he was able to put up a good fight, and even defeat her with Oneness. Scaling to the Daughter and Abeloth’s own feats should put Luke within the Multi-Solar System, with him downscaling this in base form. However, Artoria can go even higher - due to being far greater in durability to Billy the Kid, who was able to tank Space Ishtar’s Noble Phantasm, which is at the bare minimum Galaxy level in potency, with the defeat of the Lostbelt Trees being within this range as well. But, we can go even further. Fate has several Universal feats - ranging from the Noble Phantasm for Space Ishtar being far more likely to be Universal in potency due to it being described as a universe, to Mysterious Heroine XX and X both having Universal feats of their own, as well as Kama and Caren being on this level - it’s fairly simple to put her at the Universal range.

In terms of speed, unfortunately, Luke doesn’t really compare. While he has some potential infinite speed feats depending on how you view Hyperspace, they’re fairly contestable and Artoria should be able to match him regardless. In terms of finite feats, Fate has many, many feats ranging from Millions to with the bare minimum for finite ends, duovigintillions, which is far beyond Luke’s maximum in the finite range from the Vader feat. In terms of beyond finite feats, while the hyperspace feat is questionable, there are several Fate feats that get in the Infinite to Immeasurable range, if not higher - from the likes of Gilgamesh, Musashi, Dantes, to even Artoria Avalon, a version of Artoria in her prime as a Top Servant - all have consistent and blatant Immeasurable feats, meaning that Artoria should consistently outdo base Luke in speed.

All in all, it’s fairly clear-cut that Artoria should take stats over Luke’s base form, however, that’s not including the greatest factor to Luke’s kit, Oneness.

Oneness should allow Luke limited connection to the full might of the Force itself - Barriss’ feat supports this, as her connection to Oneness gave her “understanding in dimensions beyond her senses'' - the Force itself exists between the 4-D space-time of the main universe, the fifth dimensional construct of Hyperspace, and the transcendent dimension of Otherspace, putting Oneness Luke at peak at around 6-D in power. While there are higher arguments for Oneness, almost all of them are unreliable at best. We don’t have any statements for the supposed two dimension above Otherspace to indicate that they should be reliably considered 8-D, let alone anything higher, which all rely on guesswork at best, making it very unreliable to consider true dimensional tiering, let alone enough to push Luke up multiple dimensional tiers.

To specify, Luke has two Variations of Oneness. He can achieve a faint golden hue by overloading his cells with the Force, a dangerous gamble that only works for a minute, maybe a few. Luke risks death the longer he keeps this state active. He could potentially achieve a full golden state aka “True Oneness” due to the knowledge imparted to him by monolith in the book Crucible. The issue is that this is purely theoretical. Luke has never used True Oneness without outside assistance, and likely would never be able to do so again, just like his nephew Jacen. There is also evidence “True” Oneness encompasses the Plane of Erets. At best True Oneness is comparable to Artoria, but likely inferior.

However, Artoria herself can very definitely match this. Fate itself has Dimensional Tiering, with Artoria’s ace in the hole, Avalon, being explicitly stated to be able to cut off physical interaction up to the sixth dimension, which would put Avalon itself at around 6-D. However, Artoria herself as a Top Servant should have arguments to match this, with the Moon Cell having a barrier that cuts through 8 dimensions - due to Top Servant Saber being summoned by it and amped by it to an extent, she should scale to this, putting her solidly at 8-D in terms of power. There is also the fact that Fate has arguably the more explicit mentions of dimensional tiering and directly namedrops 8-D, while Star Wars would require extrapolation to get there as well as not directly naming “eighth dimensional”.

With all this in mind, Artoria should roughly be stronger and more durable then even Oneness Luke, due to her higher dimensional tiering necessitating as much. However, both should be about roughly even in speed, due to both being within the Immeasurable range. As a result, Artoria should roughly take stats.

Arsenal & Abilities

In terms of arsenal and abilities, both Luke and Artoria have insanely large arsenals and abilities that give them quite a few counters to each other in terms of powers for each other.

For starters, Artoria’s many resists give her counters to many of Luke’s more esoteric abilities - she resists matter manipulation, making Matter Control moot. In addition to that, she should be able to resist Force Push and Repulse due to her strength and durability advantage, as well as her high Magic Resistance, meaning that it’s unlikely they would be able to move her. Force Barrier shouldn’t be effective against Artoria’s strength advantage. Both Artoria and Luke have enhanced senses, with neither having a real advantage within that department. While being able to heal himself is useful, Artoria has better regeneration then Luke’s Force Healing should be able to match. In addition, while Electric Judgement is powerful, Artoria has shown to be able to resist electricity in the past, meaning that it should likely be ineffective. While Sever Force may be a neat trick, unfortunately, Artoria shouldn’t have a connection to the Force to begin with and their magic systems are too different to where it shouldn’t realistically be able to cut off Artoria’s magic. Rebuke only should work against Force Powers, with Artoria not having any Force Powers to begin with, making it irrelevant, and Force Immersion should be countered by Spirit Form for Artoria, making her likely able to sense Luke.

Artoria also has access to different Craft Essences, Command Codes, and Install Skills; each with different effects. One of particular note is Invictus Spiritus, which is able to revive Artoria once even after being hit Noble Phantasms— in the Fate Extella Link game, one of the Noble Phantasms of the characters in particular is a Noble Phantasm from Karl’s, with one of these Noble Phantasms being able to assimilate everything in the Moon Cell and in existence. Another particular item she can have is the Command Code “Hachiyo no Kagami”, which essentially nullifies immobility debuffs for one time, up to two turns. This is useful in case Artoria gets stuck or trapped if Luke uses telekinesis to try and stun her.

However, for Luke’s other abilities, things get a bit more complicated. First of all, Luke should be able to affect Artoria with Telekinesis, due to her surprisingly not having any resistances to telekinesis. Second of all, Artoria and Luke should both have very impressive precognition, with both being able to predict the future actions of their opponents and being able to “sense the way to victory”. While there are arguments for Luke’s precognition being better, overall, they are not strong enough in Team Artoria’s mind to give him a significant edge within this category.

Second of all, Artoria should solidly be able to resist Luke’s mind manipulation. While you could make the argument that Luke’s hax can affect a galaxy and should be layered, you can also argue Artoria’s is higher and also layered. Servants have no-selled Unified Language, which as stated in the Mind Manipulation section, you can argue that Unified Language is something that speaks to both The World and an individual's Origin directly, bypassing natural resistances. In Lostbelt 6, Servants are able to converse with the Fae without Unified Language affecting them. Servants have also shown resistance to Kama’s Authority, which can affect the entire universe.

Kama’s mind hax was able to affect these same Servants that are already unaffected by Unified Language like Mata Hari a bit, even if they resist. Which implies Kama’s mind hax is not just infinite universal in potency, but also layered. Artoria has also stated in Fate/Grand Order that she cannot be corrupted into her Alter self anymore, which also may mean that she’s now unaffected by the Grail’s mud. Finally, if all else fails, she has the Red Dragon that protects her mind from attacks, and the Red Dragon can downscale from Tiamat since the Red Dragon is half of Albion, and Albion is a primordial dragon likely on the level of Tiamat. Tiamat herself was able to eventually break free of Merlin’s mind hax all the way from Avalon. And lastly, she can also resist Command Spells, which not every Servant can do. As a result of this, Artoria’s resistances should far exceed even the White Current in terms of potency in mind manipulation, making it unlikely that Luke should affect Artoria with said hax.

Next, there’s Fold Space. While Luke cannot teleport Artoria herself with it, there is an argument to be made that Luke would use it on Excalibur - he’s been shown to use it to teleport weapons in the past, making it not unlikely that he’d do it. However, it’s unlikely that this would aid him too much in the long run. For one thing, Artoria would still have Avalon, meaning that this wouldn’t actually disable her from using it, rendering half the point of getting rid of Excalibur moot. In addition, Artoria does have other weapons, such as Caliburn, meaning that she should still be able to attack Luke with her weapons, rendering it less useful yet again.

However, even if you argue Luke would somehow be able to use fold space on all of Artoria’s weapons, and that Artoria would not be able to summon any of them, this still wouldn’t aid him -  while Luke’s teleportation would aid him in keeping away from Artoria, he wouldn’t be able to forever, and she would simply still be able to punch Luke. Due to Artoria being massively stronger then even Oneness Luke, she should realistically be able to massively hurt Luke regardless, even with just her bare fists, rendering disarming her, while an interesting option in theory, a pointless effort that wouldn’t end up panning out for Luke.

Finally, there’s Luke’s most powerful tool - the Golden Flash. The Golden Flash is an attack that erases one from existence on a conceptual level to the point where their name, individuality, past, memories, and making them cease to exist from everywhere and nowhere at the same time. It also completely erases their history from the world. However, you can argue that Servants can resist even this. In the Far Side of the Moon and in Void Space, staying there would erase one from time, space and existence. Void Space, or Imaginary Number Space, lacks space and time as well.

The Far Side of the Moon is where the Moon Cell sends all the unnecessary information and data by pruning it from the Near Side. It swallows up all data and history, including even pruned histories completely deleted from the axis of Proper Human History. All data that finds its way to the Far Side of the Moon is swallowed by humanity's evil nature, and is eventually deprived of all meaning. And it's stated that Servants can stay alive in here and resist its erasure, however they need to stay awake unlike Gilgamesh who can sleep in the Far Side and not be erased. Still, this means Servants can resist this level of potency in regards to existence erasure. We also see Servants like Sherlock, Osakabehime and Raikou managing to stay alive in Void Space.

As well, there’s the matter of Artoria’s most powerful tool - Avalon is incredibly powerful, and gives her an impenetrable shield to anything Luke can do. For starters, it’s stated that it can block anything up to the sixth dimension - which you could argue would include even a 6-D character such as Luke, meaning that you could argue Avalon could negate anything Luke could do due to its properties. While you could still argue that Luke should be able to affect Avalon due to it being a 6-D construct, there is an argument for Avalon to be higher in dimensional tiering - as the cosmology of the Nasuverse World is an 8-D structure, and Avalon is in the center of the planet, meaning that it should be likely be comparable in dimensional tiering to the Moon Cell, making it likely that Avalon is an 8-D shield, or at least arguable, meaning that it should likely shut down Luke’s remaining offensive options, even if you do think that Golden Flash should be able to fully erase Artoria.

Artoria can also revive herself in combat with the skill Invictus Spiritus, as mentioned earlier. This option can even bring Artoria back from death caused by Noble Phantasms (Jeanne is in the footage, the skill can be applied to different servants in Extella). This includes Jeanne’s La Pucelle which “annihilates all existence”, Gil’s Enuma Elish, Altera’s reality erasing slashes,  as well as Karl’s Carolus Patricius Dimitte which can assimilate the entire Moon Cell population. The potency of these could potentially match Luke’s Golden Flash. As a result of this, should Luke even somehow kill Artoria - something that he doesn’t really have the options for, but if he hypothetically could - she could come back none-the-wiser without him having any real feasible counters to such an event, undoing practically all his progress in the fight.

In conclusion, while Luke’s incredible powerset should pose at least a threat to Artoria, she has the right counters to be able to ensure that most of his toolkit would not be able to work on Artoria, and while he has some tools that may pose a threat to her,  most of them have good counters that Artoria can overcome even Luke’s best, ensuring that she should overall take abilities and arsenal.

Tertiary Factors

In terms of tertiary factors, both Luke and Artoria have quite a few different advantages that makes them almost roughly even out.

First of all, in terms of raw skill, Luke should take a slight advantage. While both Luke and Artoria are incredibly skilled fighters with many, many years of experience and knowledge of how to fight, Luke’s skill feats simply outdo Artoria in many regards, especially with his showings in comparison to Vader and other comparable characters - while Artoria should be comparable to pre Zero Musashi, which should make her close to Luke’s level of skill, although still below his. Kojiro was also able to best Artoria in terms of skill, so we can place Artoria solidly below Musashi and Kojiro in terms of skill, which should make her roughly a bit below Luke, though not by much.

However, in terms of experience, it should be fairly even - both Luke and Artoria have many years and wars under their belts, and neither really have a significant edge in terms of their raw experience under their belts - you could give leeway to one or the other with Artoria’s multiple summons and wars or Luke’s general long career, but ultimately, with fairness to both, they should about even out in this category. Similarly, in terms of intelligence, both have quite a few strong showings in this field, but also some clear weaknesses as well that have been shown consistently throughout their career - as a result, while you could make an argument for either being better than the other, it’s the fairest option to say that they tie in intelligence as well.

Conclusion

“It is the sacred duty of a knight to act in accordance with the virtues of chivalry, and the sacred duty of a king to serve the people with just laws and actions, in humility and mercy.”

Advantages:

  • Resists a majority of Luke’s hax

  • Massively outstats base Luke

  • Stronger and more durable than Oneness Luke

  • Roughly even in speed with Oneness Luke

  • Debatably could resist Golden Flash…

  • Avalon should likely be able to negate all of Luke’s attacks depending on interpretation…

  • Excellent mother to Shirou

  • Can help us find Patxi (PATXIIIIIIII)

  • True Borger King

  • Ayako Kawasumi and Kari Wahlgren

Disadvantages:

  • Less skilled, but still comparable

  • …however, there is an argument that it would erase her

  • …some generous interpretations, however, would let Luke hit through it regardless

  • Altria (very gross)

  • Love life

  • Not so great father to Mordred

In the end, while this was an incredibly close fight, Artoria should take it more often than not. While Luke does have arguments to match or surpass her in AP, they’re unreliable at best and rely on a lot of assumptions or stretching material in order to argue him being higher than Artoria, while Artoria’s arguments are far more clear-cut. As well, most of Luke’s arguments and win-conditions without him having higher AP then her aren’t the most reliable - she has arguments to resist both Luke’s mind hax even at their maximum potency and the Golden Flash, which should also render Luke out of the fight if he lands it and it doesn’t work on Artoria. With all this in mind, it’s comparatively more straightforward to argue Artoria’s victory, by comparison, especially with Avalon serving as an impenetrable shield to Luke that he cannot surpass..

While this was a match that pushed both the King of Kings and the Grandmaster of the New Jedi Order to their limits, in the end, only one hero was fated to win this encounter. With Artoria’s superior might and incredible resistances, Luke may have sabered a chance at victory, but in the end, he couldn’t skywalk his way to victory.

The winner is Artoria Pendragon.

Next Time…

So, we know what you’re thinking? When’s that Vergil blog coming? Who’s he fighting? Death Battle apparently won’t be back for a few more months, are you doing a wave 2? What’s gonna be in wave 2?

Well, we’re glad you asked, made-up reader. First of all, Vergil’s blog is still in production, and will be released whenever it is finished, that is to say it isn’t part of any specific schedule. And yes, we are planning a wave 2, which will begin production… right now! As for Vergil’s opponent, and what you can expect from the new wave? Well…
