Death Battle Predictions: Mob VS Tatsumaki

The old adage of “mind over matter” upholds the values of hard work; no matter how tough the obstacle, all anyone really needs is the right attitude and the utmost determination to see any task is completed to the best of their abilities. However, most people end up taking that saying quite literally; the power of psychokinesis allows them to bend the world to their whims with the strength of their minds alone, and while many icons of fiction have managed to harness this, the next episode of Death Battle will shed a spotlight on a pair of heroes whose control over this rare ability is so vast, their own shared creator has absolutely no idea who would win in a fight between them if either of them were to pull out all the stops and more:

Mob, the emotion-fueled White T-Poison of Mob Psycho 100. Tatsumaki, the pint-sized Tornado of Terror from One Punch Man. Unrivaled by few in their home universes as the strongest wielders of psychokinesis to date, these two have attempted to pursue their own brands of justice as peacekeeping heroes, despite the different paths and philosophies they took to get there. In the past, their creator ONE has gone on record to state that he didn’t have an answer for a potential clash between his espers, and it’s time for us to find that answer soon enough: which of our next combatants will be able to push their mental faculties to their absolute limits and beyond to settle this score once and for all?

Background

Mob

The world is full of all sorts of people, big, small, strong, weak, etc… We're all just people trying to live our lives the best way we can, and that's no different for Shigeo Kageyama, a resident of Seasoning City known to many of his friends and family as "Mob". Mob is as ordinary as can be, save for the fact that he's one of the world's greatest ESPers. From a very young age, Mob has had trouble being able to control his powers, causing him to do things he'd come to regret later in life. As a result, Mob has gained a complex to keep himself from expressing almost all emotions to the fullest extent, as they just fuel his powers, making them harder to control. As a result of bottling in his emotions however, the feelings he has a pile up over time until he bursts out with psychic power to match his current emotion at the time it happens. On top of this, it's made Mob a timid, passive pushover, who seeks to be well-liked without ever actually opening up to anyone. Mob currently works and learns to control his powers under Reigen Arataka, a self-proclaimed psychic, but in reality, con artist who uses Mob for his own gain in dealing with the paranormal while still managing to somehow be the role model Mob needs most in his life to learn to be a better functioning, expressive person while remaining in control of his own powers. None of this comes without conflict, however, as Mob's powers usually land him in situations with the paranormal and other ESPers that will challenge his views on psychic abilities, expression without harming others, and himself.

Tatsumaki

Not much is known about Tatsumaki’s history. She and her younger sister Fubuki were both born with psychic abilities, but Tatsumaki was the stronger of the two. Unknown to Tatsumaki, her young mastery over her psychic abilities cause the neighborhood kids to be terrified of her, which indirectly led to Fubuki being isolated. At the age of 7, however, Tatsumaki was taken away from her adopted family (though her parents were given money for complying) by scientists who wanted to study her psychic powers. Fubuki wasn’t taken since her powers didn’t develop at the time. Tatsumaki was constantly tested on because of her extraordinary abilities, but she was also given toys and candy whenever she cooperated. However, it wasn’t a fun life. Whenever Tatsumaki wasn’t using her powers, she was kept locked up in a cell and was denied permission to go outside by the scientists. 18 years before the start of the series when Tatsumaki was 10, a monster outbreak occurred while she was still locked up in a cell, leaving her alone to fend off the monster. Lucky for her, the hero Blast came to her rescue and defeated the monster. Afterward, Blast told Tatsumaki not to rely on others to rescue her.

Inspired by Blast and gaining newfound respect for him, Tatsumaki entered the Hero Association to become a hero just like Blast. Thanks to her powerful psychic abilities, Tatsumaki climbed up the ranks of the Hero Association. She’s currently positioned 2nd rank at the S-class level of heroes. However, Tatsumaki took Blast’s words too far as she distanced herself from the other heroes with the exceptions of Blast and her sister Fubuki, who had also joined the Hero Association. Additionally, her pride, temper, and arrogance often lead her to lash out at and pick fights with others, causing many heroes (including Fubuki) to dislike her despite acknowledging her immense power. Nevertheless, Tatsumaki still aims to continue her duties as a hero and won’t hesitate to show her opponents why she’s nicknamed the “Tornado of Terror”.

Abilities

Mob

Psychokinesis/Telekinesis

Telekinesis is an ability that is possessed by most espers in the Mob Psycho 100 Series and is the signature way of combat for Mob. While in combat Mob will tend to use his Telekinetic powers to either lift large amounts of objects and then throw them, assemble matter and reconstruct it on a molecular level or telekinetically throw people and slam them into walls. He is also capable of bending objects when shown when he bends a spoon by a complete accident. .Finally, in his 100% and ???% states, his telekinesis becomes much more impressive - being able to create tornados, throw entire buildings and potentially destroy entire cities with ease.

Psychic Energy Manipulation

  • Psychic Energy Absorption: Mob has the ability to draw energy from espers - draining their strength and adding that strength to his own. He also possesses the ability to drain energy-based attacks directed to him - making it very difficult to kill him with energy-based attacks. So far Mob can only do this ability while in 100% or at ???%
  • Psychic Barriers: This is one of Mob’s main weapons for combat - he is able to create a psychic barrier in order to protect himself from his attacks (he can also stack the barriers in order to increase his defenses while in combat. He can block psychic and physical blows.
  • Psychic Energy Transference: Mob can both give people his psychic energy to greatly boost their abilities or give them temporary psychic powers, as well as take psychic energy from other people through contact.

Flight

Mob can use his telekinesis to make himself fly, he is fast enough in order to dodge attacks. He is also able to use his speed in order to speed blitz another Esper.

Spirit Manipulation

Chlorokinesis

Mob has the ability to manipulate plants as well as make plants grow. For example, he once created a wall out of plants. He also used those same plants in order to maneuver in the air. He can also form plants into weapons, such as creating a then creates a giant fist out of plants.

Regeneration

An ability many ESPers have, but Mob dials this ability to 100 (heh). With it, he's been shown to completely recover from his fight with Suzuki and Scar, who both had harmed Mob to the point of potentially crippling him.

He also uses this to regrow limbs and even survive having his "vessel" completely torn apart. (While he only shows this level of it when he was inside Asagiri's mind, Suzuki was able to do the exact same thing in the physical world, whom Mob is on par with).

100% Mob (Rage)

This is a state that Mob enters when he is made angry by his opponent. Unlike normal Mob, Rage Mob has no reluctance to fight and he will become superserious when fighting his enemy.

100% Mob (Sadness)

After the destruction of Black Vinegar School, Mob realizes the destruction that he has caused. While in 100% Mob (Sadness) his telekinetic powers increase to the point he is easily able to reconstruct an entire building.

100% Mob (Animosity)

This stage was obtained after his brother Ritsu was hurt, while in this form Mob becomes much more aggressive and powerful - easily beating up his brother’s bully with ease. People who are close enough to Mob like Reigen can take him out of his 100% Animosity Form.

100% Mob (Rejection)

When Mob takes this state of emotion, Mob will release an outburst of psychic energy towards those afflicting his mind, basically overcharging the enemy and frying their brain as a result.

100% Mob (Gratitude)

Mob while in this state is able to transfer his psychic powers to someone else if he so chooses to (in the case it was shown off - he transferred his powers to Reigan).

100% Mob (Courage)

While fighting to protect his friends and family. Mob is able to enter one of his most powerful states yet. Whilst in this form - he becomes more Bishonen and gains an increase in power - so much so that he was fitting on even footing with Toichiro - the leader of Claw.

100% Mob (Obsession)

Whilst in this state, Mob becomes single-minded in his pursuit of his goal. So much so that he will pretty much ignore everything else in order to achieve it.

100% Mob (Friendship)

After learning about Serizawa's backstory - he is able to enter this Friendship State that allows him to transfer memories of his past to other people, such as the time he absorbed Serizawa's energy blast and throwing it back at him which unable Serizawa to learn of Mob’s backstory.

100% Mob (Compassion)

After feeling sorry for Toichiro, he cries and his telekinetic abilities increase to the point he is easily able to telekinetically throw several large buildings in order to put Toichiro out of his misery.

100% Mob (Shame)

After getting carried away with his powers, he enters this state and becomes completely ineffectual - hiding in the clouds and being afraid to do anything.

100% Mob (Ecstasy)

Whilst in this state, Mob is completely enthralled in the thrill of the battle. He constantly laughs and flies erratically - simply enjoying his powers. Due to his unpredictable flying, he becomes more difficult to hit (though that may be due to his unruly personality while in this state)

100% Mob (Resignation)

Whilst in this state, Mob completely acknowledges that the only way that his fight with Tochiro can end is through Mob killing them so he completely lets go of his fear to kill another human being and attempts to kill Toichiro by twisting his body.

100% Mob (Kindness)

While deciding to stay with Toichiro in his “final moments”. Mob goes into this state and tries to decrease the energy blast through the use of absorbing Toichiro’s energy output in order to save him.

100% (Getting Carried Away)

Due to the girls playing more attention to him, he enters this state. While it doesn’t give him any psychic benefits - he does lead to becoming more insensitive and jerkish, in return for having a chiseled shonen face.

100% Mob (Murderous Intent)

Mob was never able to get to use this form for longer than a second before Reigen snapped him out of it, so we don't know what it would entail.

100% Mob (Trust)

After deciding to trust Dimple with the Divine Tree rather than attack him, Mob completely gives up his psychic powers for a short time in order to place his absolute faith in Dimple.

1000% Mob

While this form is possible, Mob himself has never actually gotten to the level himself (though he has attained higher ones). When he transferred this power to Reigen however, he was able to no-sell and even reflect the psychic abilities of Ishiguro.

???% Mob

???% goes beyond being a release of pent up emotions and simply being a whole other person inside Mob (quite literally). In this form, he has very little care for any person or thing around him and narrow-mindedly completes whatever task he's set out to do, no matter what it takes. Mob struggles to control this form whenever it starts, but with enough encouragement and strong emotions, he can eventually pull himself out of this form. It's easily Mob's strongest form, and can quickly be obtained if he has a near-death experience or completely has his "vessel" destroyed.

Tatsumaki

Psychokinesis/Telekinesis

Related image
Psychokinesis, also known as telekinesis, is a supernatural ability that allows a user to manipulate physical matter with the mind. Users of this ability are commonly known as psychics or espers, and Tatsumaki is the most powerful esper in the One Punch Man universe. With psychokinesis, Tatsumaki can throw objects and manipulate wind just by using her mind. Using this ability, she’s capable of lifting hundreds of boulders without any effort and stopping a powerful bombardment attack from Boros’ ship. She can also use her psychic powers like a TV remote, using it to change TV channels. Additionally, like other espers, Tatsumaki can use her psychokinesis to perform other abilities for offensive, defensive, or miscellaneous purposes as shown below. Finally, Tatsumaki can sense the locations of other psychics as well as normal humans.

Flight

By manipulating her body with psychokinesis, Tatsumaki can levitate at will and fly through the air, launching herself at high speeds that can form thick trails in the sky wherever she goes.

Wind Manipulation

Tatsumaki isn’t called the “Tornado of Terror” for nothing. She can use her psychic powers to create powerful high-pressure winds capable of sending her opponents flying, even to the point of creating powerful windstorms. True to her hero name, Tatsumaki can even create tornadoes of various sizes and power.

Psychic Barriers

Image result for tatsumaki psychic barriers
Tatsumaki can use her psychokinesis for incredible defense by creating an invisible, psychic barrier to protect herself from outside attacks. The psychic barrier increases Tatsumaki’s durability, allowing the female esper to be capable of surviving attacks from multiple Dragon-level monsters. And while this is unknown for other esper characters in One Punch Man, Tatsumaki can still form her psychic barriers even while unconscious.

Gravitational Wave

Related image
This is a psychokinesis ability that allows espers to focus their psychic energy on one point to increase the gravity around an opponent and crush their body. This ability was used against Tatsumaki with the gravity around her having been increased by 300x, but she was unaffected by the attack. Tatsumaki uses a variant of this technique in which she surrounds an opponent with her psychic powers and compresses them until they disappear from existence.

Chi Manipulation

Related image
An ability Tatsumaki uses to immobilize and cause discomfort to a person by bending his/her life force. However, this technique is useless against people with strong willpower as doing so “will be just like trying to pin a giant boulder to the ground”.

Psychic Whirlwind

Image result for tatsumaki psychic whirlwind
An anti-psychic technique that Tatsumaki has developed during her childhood. By making her psychic signals move in circles around her, Tatsumaki can create a whirlwind capable of harmlessly redirecting or deflecting psychic attacks even to the point at nullifying them. Tatsumaki further developed this technique into an attack.

Psychic Binding

Related image
An ability Tatsumaki can use to suppress the power of another esper. Tatsumaki was even able to free herself from Fubuki’s use of the technique within a few seconds. As such, however, it's likely this ability simply doesn't work on psychics stronger than the one casting the ability.

Weaknesses

Mob

Mob is a very passive child who would much rather use his powers to help people see a new path aside from using their powers to harm others. This has resulted in him letting himself get mangled a good bit while still refusing to go all out, making it an uphill battle when he finally gives in. At the same time, when he does give in due to anger, he has a small tendency to become more rash and much less of the deep thinker he is.

Beyond this, Mob's superhuman stats are directly connected to his psychic powers, which in turn are also directly connected to his psyche. Getting to 100% can take days, making ???% even longer to really get to. If Mob's psychic powers were to be canceled at all, he'd have strength, speed, and durability lesser than the average pubescent.

Tatsumaki

Despite being the S-Class 2nd Rank Hero, Tatsumaki does have some major weaknesses on her belt. Her attitude, for starters, is the biggest because of how very arrogant and overconfident she truly is. For a 28-year-old adult, even Saitama thought she was acting like a child in their first interaction (even though he… and us, did believe she was a child). Even if she has proven how powerful she truly became, her psychic abilities do have limits. Every time she attacks, her defense weakens. Most importantly, all of her psychic abilities are all connected to her brain. If her brain gets damaged, then her abilities will vanish for a short time. It will also make her powers unstable and will make her shield disappear. Last weakness to note, very strong beings like Saitama and Garou who have strong wills can resist Tatsumaki’s psychic attacks, making them not very effective.

Tatsumaki is also extremely distrustful of any other people besides her sister (to a small extent) after being bought off her foster family, forced to constantly use her powers, and locked away in a cage whenever she couldn't or didn't want to use them. All this plus Blast's advice to her as a child resulted in her believing all human connections only serve to make a person weaker and leave them liable to betrayal.

So Mob vs Tatsumaki, a very interesting matchup to say the least. I gotta admit though i was a bit apprehensive about this matchup when i first heard about it but after researching it - yeah it works well as a matchup. Though being honest here I am more excited about what the Penultimate and Final Matchups of this season are, Anyway, Mob vs Tatsumaki “sigh”, look., i have been wanting Mob to win for ages in this fight due to my personally not liking Tatsumaki as a character but as i researched this fight more and more - I realized just how screwed Mob really was in this Bout. .

Don’t get me wrong here - there are things i am not sure Tatsumaki’s most talked about feat first - the Shell Lifting feat. Due to what this feat has calced - many people have put Tatsumaki as Island level but i don’t know if I necessarily agree with that. If Tatsumaki destroyed all the bombs then yeah i would say Island level for sure but the fact that she didn’t destroy Boros’s Ship nor the Shells rather she telekinetically lifted them up seems a bit fishy to me. I know the argument that you can scale her telekinesis to her destructive capability which i do agree with - but the fact that this feat was her more stopping and then moving the shells to hit Boros’s Ship makes me a bit iffy to say this is her best Destructive Capability feat. As for where I would personally put Tatsumaki when it comes to DC - i would argue City Level at least considering her lifting feats though if you take this feat into consideration which they will likely will - she is Island level.

So what about Mob’s Destructive Capability, well Mob was able to send Black Vinegar Middle School above the clouds, splitting them apart which is City-Island Level. He also made massive tornados massive tornadoes. With both feats, he should easily be City Level considering he has shown numerous times throughout the series that he is capable of at the very least city-wide destruction if not higher.

So they are fairly equal in terms of DC with Tatsumaki being higher if you consider the shell-lifting feat legit - which personally I am reluctant on but many other people feel it’s completely legit.

And then there’s speed, in terms of speed - Tatsumaki has been calculated as Mach 2057 which for all those who don’t know is Massively Hypersonic+ (Mach 1000-8810.2). This feat is indeed impressive but Mob’s speed is definitely higher. Shown in this feat, with Suzaki summoning all of these clouds and then uses telekinetic power to make them shoot out thunder. Mob reacts and converts the lighting into an attack. The fact that he doesn’t have a barrier to means that he reacted to the attack, dodged it and then converted it into energy. The fact that this is a lighting feat would definitely put it at around Massively Hypersonic and it was indeed calculated at Mac 4081 which is also in the Massively Hypersonic+ range and faster than Tatsumaki. While in terms of their standard feats - Mob would be superior to Tatsumaki in terms of speed right? Well, that is indeed the case - that is not taking into account scaling. To be more specific, Tatsumaki is superior to Speed-O-Sound Sonic, who fought in par with Flashy Flash. Flashy Flash himself performed a feat that was calced at Mach 155,390.91. So if you use scaling then Tatsumaki would be Sub-Relativistic and much higher then Mob when it comes to speed.

As for Durability, she has tanked falling skyscrapers with a multi-city block wide psychic barrier and got smashed into the ground while attached to Saitama. Her destructive capability should also scale to her durability as more her destructive capability and durability are specifically tied to her psychic abilities. As for Mob, he has tanked hits from Toichiro Suzaki which created a large crater around him as well as survived a Multi-City Block/Town Level explosion. Like Tatusmaki you can also scale his destructive capability to his durability. So, in the end, Tatsumaki should be City-Island Level durability while Mob should be Multi-City Block to City Level Durability.

So Tatsumaki has the edge in all three categories so what about hax and stuff - surely that would give him the edge...

Here’s the thing with Mob’s hax - while it is definitely impressive, it is simply not enough. Mob’s psychic absorbing is powerful against Tatsumaki who is an esper who relies on psychic energy but has to be in 100% in order to use this technique and even then, while in the midst of combat - he is likely going to do use it that often and it requires concentration. There’s also the fact that Tatsumaki’s psychic energy is much greater than Mob so even if Mob trains psychic energy from Tatsumaki - it’s not going to be enough here.

Mob’s Spirit Possession is an impressive technique but besides temporally controlling Tatsumaki - it’s not really going to do much against Tatsumaki plus he has barley uses it so he lacks real experience with it. Even Mob’s Chrolokensis - Tatsumaki can use barriers and then psychically rip Mob’s vines with a fair amount of rase. Meaning while Mob definitely does have a lot of hax on his side - it is not enough to fully kill Tatsumaki which is already a problem when he lacks the destructive capability or speed to put down Tatsumaki’s durability.

On the other hand - Tatsumaki’s hax and abilities are perfectly suited to take down psychics like Mob. Tatsumaki’s psychic whirlwind which has been designed in order to counter psychic abilities and make them useless is going to be extremely difficult for Mob to contend with. I know the argument is that Tatsumaki’s psychic whirlwind would be useless against Mob due to the OPM and MP100 having different types of psychics but at the same time they are similar enough for this technique to work on Mob. Tatsumaki’s psychic binding also completely neutralizes psychics and psychic abilities making it very difficult for Mob to use his psychic abilities against Tatsumaki when she can use it to completely freeze him in place while she finishes him off. Finally, there is Tatsumaki’s gravity wave - while Mob has tanked attacks from gravity users before - Tatsumaki’s gravity control is much much greater then anything then Mob’s has faced, as such - she could very easily crush him into nothingness.

To hammer in this nail there’s one final aspect of this fight - experience/personality. Mob while being immensely powerful whilst in combat - is still a young boy and without his psychic powers - he is just a 12 old boy with little to know physical benefits who get exhausted easily. While he is definitely fought a fair amount of people during the story of Mob Psycho - his experience is limited and whilst fighting he mostly always go on the defensive. He is also extremely reluctant to use his powers to his absolute full potential with ??? % being the exception to this. Tatsumaki on the other hand despite her bratty nature is still a highly experienced hero with years of experience as the number 2 hero on her hands and has been honing her psychic abilities to near perfection for 18+ years at the very least. She has considerably more experience then Mob while in combat.

Overall while I love Mob and I want to see him win this fight, I just sadly can’t see him winning this. Tatsumaki has the Destructive Capability, Speed, Durability, Hax and Experience to beat Mob even if he goes into ???%. Mob, you are a great character but you are very clearly outmatched. In this battle of mind over matter - Tatsumaki is the winner here. Looks like Mob will be psyched out by Tatsumaki.

Wow, talk about a great few weeks!!! Ganon Vs. Dracula was amazing, went to CreepyWorld with my family, became John Wick in Lazer Tag, college is going well, started my own Death Battle Art Idea Series on fights I want to see and why, limited edition of SkullGirls came in at last on Halloween, and Mob Vs. Tatsumaki is almost out. Oh…. and I GOT THE DEATH BATTLE GAME!!! Not going to lie, I am honored for the game to finally come out with the limited edition for first buyers. While I still need to learn how to play the game, I can not wait to fully play it. Besides my life in general, Mob Vs. Tatsumaki was indeed a surprising match for the next Death Battle due to how fast it came. I heard about the match up back when OMM did their episode, which was good. Before I continue any further with my prediction, I want to credit Jaru and his research for helping me in deciding the ideal victor. He is one of the best researchers in the Death Battle communities, and I have been following him for a while. Without further ado, let’s do this.

This fight was a pain to decide the winner. A psychic teenager of Saitama against the most arrogant and selfish waifu felt very challenging to decide. The problem was how not only how one has many forms and abilities while the other has better stats, but it was also how so both of their abilities have almost many counters to each other. It felt like this was an anime version of MewTwo Vs. Shadow, but better and more complex. After doing much research and sources, I predict…..Tatsu should win. Here’s why by doing the prediction into rounds I feel it will be important in the outcome.

Round 1: Stats
Very important to have speed, strength, and durability as an anime character, and surprisingly this one was very easy to do. Mob best strength feat physically made a giant ball out of buildings. With his best speed feat so far, it was him reacting to lighting in order to protect himself. Lastly, Mob best durability feat, he survived a nuke-like explosion, which the fireball proved the idea of it. So how doest Tatsumki measurable up to Mo-she easily wins this round. Remember how One Punch Man was originally a webcomic before Shonen Jump before rebooted it? Well...Big spoilers ahead. Tatsu and the heroes ended up finding the monster headquarters that was told in S2. How does this count as the strength feat? She pulls the WHOLE HG out from the ground!!! For speed, she has a few. From reacting to Boros Ship’s artillery bullets (not explosive since Saitama punched a few and did not explode) to the confirm of the author beating Golden S. if, at her peak, Tatsu is shown to keep up with faster heroes and might be one of the fastest heroes in the series. Lastly, Tatsu can take a beating. After suffering brain damage from a sneak attack, Tatsu was taken down after getting ganged up by multiple Dragon level monsters. Despite that, she could still use her abilities and restrain Monster Garou and fight Saitama while still healing from the aftermath.

My point in round one of stats, Mob has never shown the insane powers that Tastumaki has shown. Round one for Tastumaki.

Round 2: Haxes

This was the problem everyone in this prediction had in this fight. Because both fighters were able to counter almost everything one has for the other. But, as Boomstick once said, “Keyword, being almost,”. While Tatsumaki has better control over her physic as well as gravity, and chi, Mob just edges out in having more abilities to bring him back to win. For starters, Mob is able to absorb Tatsumaki’s physic powers to make him stronger but does have a limit of how much. His control over plants he can use since Tatsumaki has not shown to counter chlorokinesis. He can regenerate himself, which will release ???% if he dies. Which, brings up his 100% forms, increasing his powers. Lastly, his spirit manipulation is the best option to finish Tatsumaki since she has no counter to any supernatural elements. Mob haxes just have a few more advantages with his abilities that Tatsu can not counter.
Close call with haxes, but Mob just has a few more ways to gain advantages that might give him a chance to win. Round two goes to Mob.

Final Round: Experience and Intelligent

Finding a final fair factor was tricky for me since it was hard to decide how I think will decide the remaining factor. But, I felt this will decide how they will use their minds to outsmart on another. Mob... sadly loses in this final factor. Let’s not forget he is still a student in school and has not been known to being smart or having a background of fighting. Not only that, he has not done anything to train or improve his abilities, only when he is asked or forced to. Tatsumaki, on the other hand, is very experienced, very smart, and very well trained. Her ignorance does get the best of her, but she had her powers as far as her child years. Tatsumaki has better control over her powers thanks to her own training to become the best hero. Her number two spot in the S-Class Rank shows how she has become in how powers. The very simple deciding factor, but the main reason why I chose this was because of how these two espers will use their abilities in fighting each other. Mob may be able to have more haxes to kill Tatsumaki, but she has enough experience against espers to limit Mob’s options. Not only that, let’s not forget she has the edge in stats, which she can plan out her once she disables Mob physic abilities.

Experience and Intelligence is an underrated important factor that I felt was an important deciding factor, especially for this fight. I just felt that Tatsumaki’s experience might be the deciding factor in the end. The final round goes to Tatsumaki.

I feel that Tatsumaki will win in the end because she has both the brains and the brawns to out beat Mob’s physic and his 100% forms. The hardest part of whether Tatsumaki can kill Mob is still debatable since Mob can regenerate, but there might be a way. Remember how Tatsumaki can control Chi? Well, if possible she is able to control Mob’s spirit and finish him because spirits are considered to be the life force. She may not be able to see him, but she can still sense him since he is an Esper. It all depends on whether or not the series of OPM has stated or explained how chi works. Even if not, then Tatsumaki should win thanks to her overpowered stats, minded intelligence, and superior experience. It is just a shame that this Tornado of Terror had to “Mob” this fight in the end.

One Last Note: I hope you all had a Great Happy Halloween this year.

A fight between ONE's best ESPers. On top of that, these two share an antithesis to each other. Mob's big theme is being able to change for the better thanks to trusting the efforts of the friends he makes. Meanwhile Tatsu continues to run on the belief that all trust in other people is a weakness that will inevitably end in betrayal of some kind.

As far as the actual fight goes, Tatsumaki seems to have more going in her favor with massively better stats and an ability to suppress psychic powers, which conveniently makes Mob as weak as an anemic 14 year old boy. Don't be fooled though, this fight isn't completely hopeless for Mob. He has far more hax abilities, almost godly regeneration, and can still fight as a spirit should his body be completely destroyed.

Does this mean he wins though? Ehhhhh. He doesn't have the speed to land his hax before Tatsu uses her's. The best possible scenario for him is to defeat Tatsumaki as a spirit by using any of his haxy moves or possessing/killing Tatsumaki by travelling into her mind. This is likely possible too given Tatsu shouldn't be able to sense spirits like ESPers can in Mob Psycho 100. In fact there's even evidence she can't via a fear of ghosts shown off in a drama CD for the series, explaining the technical first time she met Saitama, where she thought he was a ghost and tried to kill him and was unable to, while Saitama didn't even notice (because he's Saitama) so she gained a fear of ghosts through the idea her powers don't affect them.

The major thing against Mob in this scenario though is that if he uses psychic abilities to try and beat her as a ghost, that might be the one thing Tatsu can actually still sense from him as a spirit, and put up a forcefield, making any of Mob's potential win routes at that point impossible. His best bet would be to just travel inside her mind to kill her or possess her. This is out of character for him, but assuming he tries anyway, it'd lend him a good win route. The problem is that Mob actually has no way of knowing Tatsumaki can't see him as a spirit, given every ESPer in his world can see them. As far as he would be concerned, staying as a spirit would make him weaker and more vulnerable to another ESPer, since psychics often hunt spirits.

Due to this and the fact that he just can't stand up to her in stats, I think Mob ultimately loses against Tatsumaki, even if she can't kill him, since Mob can run out of psychic energy, forcing an incapability of doing anything to her.

First off, Ganondorf vs Dracula was phenomenal. Great job by Devilartemis, Daitomadachi, Doovad Hohdan. The fight animation was one of Death Battle’s best thanks to them. Glad to hear that they’ll be coming back for future Death Battles.

Second, please watch Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
It’s one of Shonen’s best new anime. The story is interesting, the fights are awesome, and the animation is beautiful. Episode 19 is definitely the best episode of the anime. The movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train is coming out in 2020 and will take place immediately where Season 1 left off, covering the “Infinite Train” story arc from the manga. Also, check out KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! Legend of Crimson. It’s the new KonoSuba movie that takes place after the second season of the KonoSuba anime, covering the light novel’s 5th volume. Hopefully Crunchyroll shows it on a day where I can actually get a chance to watch it.

Now then, time to focus on the newest Death Battle we have here. Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama from Mob Psycho 100 vs Tatsumaki from One-Punch Man. Let’s be honest. We all knew One-Punch Man was going to enter Death Battle sooner or later, and none of us wanted Saitama to be the first character to be used. Saitama isn’t as strong as people make him out to be in VS, but OPM fans believe otherwise, so the outcome of any fight he’s featured in will always cause a bloody war in the comment section.

Which leads us to this matchup. It’s very interesting and is one of Tatsumaki’s most well known fights. Not only that, it adds Mob Psycho 100 as the newest series to enter Death Battle. Thankfully, Mob isn’t fighting Kusuo Saiki as this fight is more fitting considering both he and Tatsumaki are both characters created by ONE. But enough talk! Let’s get on with the verdict. Right off the bat, Tatsumaki takes the advantage in all the stats. Strength, speed, durability, etc. You name them.

Let’s start with strength and destructive capability. In the terms of those categories, Tatsumaki clocks out at large island level to at least large country level (depending on the calculation). This stems from the feat of her blocking a volley of shells from Boros’ ship. The shells were capable of annihilating City A (which, based on several maps in the One-Punch Man series, is the size of a landmass than an ordinary city). Blocking that volley with her psychokinesis and holding it back in midair with the strength of her telekinesis allows Tatsumaki to scale to that level of strength and destructive capability. Mob’s best feat in this category is destroying the perfect recreation of Seasoning City inside another character’s head. Depending on the calculation, it ranged from large city to large island level. However, Tatsumaki has shown other impressive feats that gives her the advantage such as pulling down a meteor from outer space, being capable of generating a Magnitude 8 earthquake, and dragging up the hideout of the Monster Association from underground (which appeared to be the size of a mountain).

In terms of speed, Mob’s best speed feat is around Mach 4K. While Tatsumaki’s highest own speed feat is around Mach 2K, she scales to characters who operate at relativistic speeds. She’s faster and superior over Speed-O-Sound Sonic, who’s on par with Flashy Flash in terms of speed. Flashy Flash himself performed a speed feat that clocked out at Mach 155K. In conclusion, there’s no way Mob can even compete with Tatsumaki’s speed.

Finally, in terms of durability, Mob’s best durability feat was surviving a nuke-like explosion. One of Tatsumaki’s best durability feats was shrugging off being crushed under gravity that was 300 times our own. While Mob has taken hits from Toichiro Suzuki, which created a large crater, Tatsumaki has taken hits from Golden Sperm (yes, that’s an actual character), who can beat several A-class and S-class heroes and is one of the strongest monsters of the Monster Association. It should be noted that ONE stated if Tatsumaki was at full health during her fight with Golden Sperm, she would’ve won with some level of difficulty.

While stats are important, let’s also not forget their psychic abilities. Both combatants possess telekinesis, can fly, and project energy barriers to defend themselves. However, each possess their own exclusive abilities that their opponent doesn’t have. For Mob, he can absorb psychic energy and transfer his own to someone else. While the latter won’t be used for obvious reasons, Mob’s absorption ability will prove to be a problem for Tatsumaki. However, Tatsumaki will realize this and will use other tactics to harm Mob than with energy-based attacks. Mob also possesses chlorokinesis, which is the ability to manipulate plants. While Tatsumaki can’t directly reflect Mob’s chlorokinesis attacks, she can counter them with her wind manipulation or crush them with telekinesis. Mob has powerful healing factor as he’s able to regenerate lost limbs and his body being torn apart. However, I believe Tatsumaki’s Gravitational Wave is the perfect solution. With this ability, Tatsumaki surrounds her opponent with psychic energy and compresses them out of existence. While I’m not too sure what’s the limit of Mob’s regeneration, I’m confident Tatsumaki’s Gravitational Wave would do the trick.

However, both psychics do have at least one ability each that can give them the win. For Mob, it’s his spirit manipulation. He can project his spirit and enter people’s minds, allowing them to control their bodies and possibly kill them from within. It’s unfortunate for Tatsumaki since she never dealt with spirits or anyone who possesses such abilities before in the series. However, one can make the argument that Tatsumaki’s chi manipulation can be the perfect ability against Mob’s spirit form since chi means life force which refers to a person’s soul. The only problem would be that Tatsumaki wouldn’t be able to see Mob’s spirit. She can sense him since she can sense espers, but she won’t know that he’s a spirit. Additionally, anyone with a strong willpower can resist Tatsumaki’s chi manipulation. It’s basically a back and forth argument. However, Tatsumaki has two abilities that can seal the win for her: Psychic Whirlwind and Psychic Binding. Psychic Whirlwind is a technique where the user can redirect or reflect an esper’s psychic attacks to the point of nullifying them. Psychic Binding is a technique where the user can suppress the power of another esper. It only works on espers weaker than the user. Since Tatsumaki has the advantage in all three stats, then Mob will be completely vulnerable for the killing blow. After all, without his psychic powers, Mob is nothing more than physically weak 14-year old boy. An easy target for Tatsumaki.

But wait, what about Mob’s 100%, 1000%, and ???% forms? While those are indeed powerful, none of them has performed a feat that placed their stats higher than Tatsumaki’s. No doubt those forms will give the Tornado of Terror a very difficult fight. However, they only serve as stat boosts as they bring nothing new for Mob. And as I stated before, they don’t boost Mob to a higher degree than Tatsumaki.

Last thing to note is that Tatsumaki has a higher intelligence than Mob and is way more experienced than him. Of course, this would help aid her in the upcoming fight.

In the end, Tatsumaki is just too strong, fast, and durable to handle. Most of her abilities are perfect counters against Mob’s And while Mob’s spirit form can possibly help him win by possessing Tatsumaki and killing her from within her mind, more times than not, Tatsumaki will deliver the killing blow before he’ll get a chance. Tatsumaki just has a better esper-tise in this fight.

  3. its a pity that i really like Mob but it seems like he is gonna get eviscerated. from the research it sounds like he could maybe squeeze out a win but 9/10 tatsumaki has it in the bag which is what death battle focus on.

  5. Wait, when you mention Tatsu's Gravity Manipulation you say she can erase people from existence

Is there anything in the canon that tells us it's actually existence erasure?

Like is it ever said she erased him from existence in the series? Or maybe it's said the only way to kill Jagan is to erase him from existence? Or maybe ONE or Murata said it in an interview
