Cartoon Network. Nickelodeon. Disney Channel. The landscape of cartoons on television was dominated by these three channels that offered up tons of stories to experience and worlds to visit for children of all ages, even for young at heart adults. Many of these shows made audiences laugh out loud at their jokes and antics, others tugged at heartstrings with emotional storytelling that managed to get even the most stone-hearted individuals to shed a tear, and a fair amount harkened back to a concept popularized by Saturday morning cartoons: saving the world and kicking the butts of bad guys everywhere with cool superpowers, like our next two combatants -- the namesakes of 2 of the most beloved cartoons of the mid-2000s:
Danny Phantom, the snow white-haired ghostbuster of Amity Park. Jake Long, the fiery American Dragon of New York City. These two teens with attitude found themselves imbued with great power at a young age, and with it, the great responsibility to use it for the right reasons. Immature and impulsive they may be, and subject to the same lives any kid their age would have at most, there’s none better equipped to face the supernatural on a daily basis and come out on top with the city and their friends and loved ones safe and sound than these two. Both are ready to go ghost and dragon up for the next episode of death battle; which of these young champions of justice will face an unfortunately early and permanent retirement?
Background
Danny Phantom
Young Danny Fenton was just 14 when his parents built a very strange machine, designed to view a world unseen.
You all know the theme song. Son of accomplished ghost hunters Maddie and Jack Fenton, Danny was never into investigating the ghastly apparitions like his obsessive parents. In fact, he wanted to become an astronaut one day and explore the cosmos. Though, his parents weren’t quite thrilled about this career choice, and continued to egg him on. Their unique personalities certainly concerned him, his friends Tucker and Sam, and his older sister, Jazz (short for Jasmine).
It would be his parents’ obsession that ultimately led to Danny’s destiny, however. They wanted to create an easy access portal into the Ghost Zone, a parallel dimension home to all kinds of ghosts. This wasn’t the first time they had tried such an experiment, as the prototype years before had left a college friend, Vlad Masters, with physical deformities and ghost powers. Unsurprisingly, Vlad would prove to be the young Fenton’s greatest adversary out of a thirst for vengeance.
Regardless, this “Fenton Ghost Portal” was no success on the first try, and the Fenton couple quickly gave up, a reasonable decision considering the first freak accident twenty years prior. But curiosity took over their son’s mind, and he decided to take a look for himself. While inside, he accidentally activated the machine, infusing his DNA with ectoplasm, a viscous substance that makes up all ghosts.
Now half-human and half-ghost, “Danny Phantom” would become a hero like never seen before. On top of struggling to fit in at school, he had the responsibility to save Amity Park from the incorporeal terrors of the Ghost Zone. Supported by his best friends, Tucker and Sam, nobody can ever take this phantom down.
Jake Long
He’s cool, he’s hot like a frozen sun. He’s young and fast, he’s the chosen one.
Jake Long was your average Chinese-American teenager growing up in the streets of New York City. An all-around mediocre student, and one that wasn’t too popular, he and his friends Trixie and Spud would do the usual things New York teenagers did: go to school and then hang out. But unbeknownst to him, his family had a secret: they could turn into dragons. While this power had skipped over his mother, his Grandfather Lao Shi was actually one of the most powerful dragons in the world: The Chinese Dragon. His younger sister also harnessed the generational ability.
While Jake’s powers had manifested throughout his life in small ways, such as accidentally breathing fire at camp one day, these powers became fully manifested on his 13th birthday. From then on, Jake could use his dragon powers and transform into one himself. Thanks to his training from his grandfather and Lao Shi’s guardian, Fu Dog, he was no longer Jake Long, average teenager. He was now the American Dragon: Jake Long.
And it turns out that these powers were quite helpful, as while life to most people seems normal, magical creatures besides dragons turned out to be real in Jake’s world, and they existed in an underground community. As a result, Jake would need to protect these magical creatures from those who would hunt them, as well as protecting the real world from knowing of these magical creatures’ existence in the first place.
On his many journeys protecting the magical community, he’d balance fitting in at school and even find out his crush was part of an evil clan of dragon hunters, and the girl he had been fighting all this time, unbeknownst to either of them. He may be egotistical, self-conscious, and at times reckless, but when it’s time to buck up, the American Dragon will take responsibility and won't stop until the battle is won.
Equipment
Danny Phantom
Danny sparingly uses equipment here and there and more than likely wouldn’t have them in this bout aside from the first, but just for the hell of it, here are his best hits:
Fenton Thermos
Danny’s most essential tool, this Fenton-made device sucks up and captures the ethereal spirits, like a cup-sized version of Luigi’s Poltergust 3000. It even captured Cosmo and Wanda, Timmy Turner’s fairy godparents, at one point...somehow. Even if the enemies are far beyond what Danny’s capabilities allow him to beat, as long as they are a ghost, they have the potential to be sucked in, as shown by Freakshow with the Reality Gauntlet.
Fenton Ghost Gauntlets
Freddy Krueger be damned. These gauntlets are great for catching ghosts in an iron grip and striking them down with enhanced blows, even capable of ripping the ecto-essence out of another’s body. These gauntlets are, however, still best suited for spirits.
Ecto-Skeleton
A suit developed by Jack and Maddie Fenton, and later enhanced by Vlad Masters. When inside, it boosts the user’s capabilities by a hundred-fold, allowing Jazz Fenton to easily go toe-to-toe with Danny in a fight, and for Danny to be able to fight against Pariah Dark with both the Crown of Fire and Ring of Rage, which made him the strongest ghost of all time. Initially the suit would drain the life force out of its user, but the modifications by Vlad made that no longer an issue. It also has its own weapons like bombs and energy lasers while still working with Danny’s ghost powers.
Specter Deflector
A specialized belt that, when attached to a ghost, renders them far weaker, if not entirely powerless. It can also prevent spectral beings from touching those holding it.
Jake Long
Jake’s a guy who relies on his kickass dragon physiology to save the day. Who needs weapons when you can breathe fire? Yeah, he’s used magical relics or whatever, but he never keeps them.
Wait, no, he’s got a skateboard. That’ll show them. He even got a wooden board in Hong Kong.
Magic Sneezing Powder
Does what it says on the tin.
Hologram Book
A special book used to give Jake information on a bevy of magical creatures, ranging from leprechauns to unicorns to trolls to other dragons. The holograms are capable of pulling other beings into the book, although this is likely just for a gag.
Magic Game Controller
A controller from a chest that Jake found, allowing him to literally cheat through life. It can rewind time, turn Jake invisible, increase his physical stats, boost his intelligence, make him more charming, allow him to knockout foes in one punch (according to the name), reverse gravity, make him jump higher, create a protective shield, and conjure up team jerseys. The controller was destroyed, however, and isn’t exactly “standard equipment”.
Dream Charm
A gift from his crush, Rose, this little piece of jewelry allows Jake to project himself into the dreamscape, letting him view the deepest secrets of anyone who dreams.
Abilities
Danny Phantom
Going Ghost
Danny can transform between his human form and ghost form at will. Whenever he needs to save the day, he’ll be accompanied by two sweeping white rings, usually with his famous catchphrase, “I’m going ghost!”. This transformation can also come with a massive wave of spectral energy to push back his foes.
Ghost Sense
When ghosts are in near proximity, Danny’s breath becomes chilled (and probably minty fresh), almost acting like a ghost spidey sense. This is actually a power that comes from his cryokinesis (more on that later).
Intangibility
Danny’s flagship ability. As a half-ghost, he can pass through just about anything. This is useful for dodging attacks and making a quick escape. As an added bonus, he can make others intangible too. He’s affected a hovercraft and even his friends. He can also choose to make only specific parts of his body intangible rather than just the whole thing. He’s phased through pretty much everything, except for anti-ghost weapons and opponents with similar intangibility powers. That said, he’s also shown on occasion the ability to phase through intangible beings...however the hell that works.
Invisibility
Another one of Danny’s ghostly abilities is invisibility, allowing him to completely vanish from sight, and hopefully out of mind. These powers extend even further to allow him to make other objects invisible. Foes with similar abilities or heightened senses can still track him though.
Ghost Ray
Danny’s main form of offense, allowing him to fire a beam of ecto-energy from his hands, his eyes, or even his butt. He can emit a large blast of the stuff from his body for a good AoE option, or chuck a mini Spirit Bomb of ghostly energy. This energy has a multitude of different functions, such as being able to overwrite a target’s DNA to turn them into a ghost, phase through solid targets to forcefully extract spectral energy within, and potentially even give ecto-based diseases with fatal effects.
Ecto Barrier
Danny can also use his spectral energy abilities to conjure up shields and barriers, a great tool for added defense against foes with similar powers to him. These barriers are powerful enough to hold up against even the assaults of some of the strongest ghosts such as Vortex, absorbing their power after passing through the shield. They can also be used to reflect attacks.
Overshadowing
A subset of Danny’s intangibility powers, allowing him to phase through another being. This allows him to control their every movement with little resistance, pretty much possessing them. Afterwards, when he exits the body, they have no memory of the overshadowing occurring unless Danny wants them to. This has also been seen to work on other ghosts, such as a clone of Vlad Plasmius, and even Danny himself. Overshadowing even extends to inanimate objects. And weirdly enough, Danny can still fly and go intangible if he’s possessing a non-ghost.
Regeneration
As a ghost, Danny’s body is capable of regenerating from many things that would seemingly kill a normal human. This includes anything from being able to regenerate his stomach after it gets split in two to reforming after being reduced to separate puddles of jelly. A clone of himself named Danielle could even regenerate her body after being reduced to a bucket of ectoplasm. This is because Danny’s body is weirdly malleable, as he can stretch and squish his form about. All ghosts actually have accelerated healing, though some far more potent than others.
Spectral Body Manipulation
Much like any other ghost in the series, Danny can mold, stretch and contort his body in any way he wants, from detaching his body, to creating openings in his form to avoid attacks. He can also form himself into a blue mist as an extra alternative to intangibility.
Energy Absorption
Whenever Danny’s ecto-shield makes contact with the energy of another ghost, he can absorb its unique powers into himself, thus allowing him to use those same powers. For example, when Vortex’s energy struck the shield, Danny gained his weather-controlling powers, activated via his mood.
Power Augmentation
Usually signified by a glowing white aura. Danny has a habit of getting stronger over the course of a fight. Examples of this include when he could barely damage a normal Ember yet was easily matching an amplified version of her blow for blow just a few hours later, as well as how he could keep up with Ghost Tucker even after the latter got stronger. Ghosts like Vlad Plasmius have also demonstrated this, such as when Vlad was easily beaten around by Danny after sending out hordes of duplicates but eventually got back to Danny’s level with no trouble.
Photokinesis
Danny can emit pulses of light from his hands, allowing him to see in dark areas. He’s also used this ability to blind the Guys in White, the Danny Phantom equivalent to the Men in Black, even while they were wearing sunglasses.
Telekinesis
Ghosts have demonstrated the ability to use their ecto-energy on objects to make them float, and can even coat other objects in their ectoplasm to move them to their hearts’ content.
Pyrokinesis
Some ghosts, such as Ember Mclain and the Lunch Lady, have shown the ability to emit fire, usually through close ranged pyrokinetic attacks. Danny himself has shown himself able to fire ghost fireballs at his opponents.
Electrokinesis
Several times throughout the series, when connected to an electric current, Danny has shown the ability to send his own current through to electrify foes. He’s used this against the likes of Walker’s underling Bullet and - on a separate occasion - against Valerie Gray.
Cryokinesis
Danny soon learned that surprisingly enough, cryokinesis was a latent ability of his, stemming from his Ghost Sense. He can shoot it out of his hands, eyes, or expel a chilling blast from his body. He can also make his ecto-shields out of ice. This is definitely one of his most potent abilities, and has come in pretty handy, like when he had to defeat the plant monster Undergrowth. Other characters who possess the ability like Frostbite have also been shown to use it to create weapons along with nonmoving ice constructs, so it’s possible Danny also possesses these abilities.
This ice is so cold, it could even freeze Vlad Masters, who can resist the harsh temperatures of space. He can even freeze energy, somehow, and can fire his freezing powers into nearby clouds to cause it to hail. As an added bonus, he can also fuse his ice and ecto energy together to make an explosive ecto energy snowball.
Duplication
A power he’s practiced throughout the series. Danny can materialize up to 3 clones of himself. He’ll bust it out when he needs to, but he’s rather inexperienced compared to Vlad, who can make hundreds of doppelgangers. There is a slight weakening effect when clones are created, but it’s not overtly noticeable unless too many are made.
Dream Traveling
By overshadowing sleeping targets, Danny can travel inside their dreams. There, he can force them awake if he so chooses.
Technology Overshadow
Yes, Danny can even overshadow his own technology, such as when he traveled inside his computer and took control of his video game avatar to give it ghost powers.
Ghostly Wail
This devastating attack is Danny’s most powerful technique. He can emit a loud, haunting wail from his mouth that works sort of like Black Canary’s Canary Cry. Originally, Danny didn’t learn this until he was in his 20’s (and evil), but thanks to time travel shenanigans, he managed to gain the ability in the present early. The only downside is that this ability takes a lot out of him if he overuses it, and it will eventually force him to transform back to his human form (though this is something he overcame by the last episode).
Jake Long
Dragon Physiology
As a dragon, Jake’s body is far better than that of any human. He can take massive blows from beings that can destroy buildings and still get back up and kicking. In addition, his senses are enhanced, making him able to hear sounds a normal human can’t pick up on or see things at longer distances. If he needs to use a particular part of his dragon-body but doesn’t want to go full-dragon, he can transform specific parts of his body to take their appearance and utilise their dragon physiology, whether it be his claws, wings, head, etc.
Of course, that’s not the only thing his physiology provides. As expected, Jake’s dragon form also gives him extremely sharp claws and teeth, great for when he needs to get up close and personal with an opponent. In fact, despite being a dragon, close-range combat seems to be Jake’s personal favorite method of fighting. Finally, he sprouts wings that allow him to glide around and fly at incredible speeds. His dragon tail and tongue are also prehensile, allowing Jake to grab enemies with them or trip them up for an advantage.
Pyrokinesis
He’s a dragon. What’d you expect? By invoking his dragon-self, Jake is able to manipulate fire in various ways. Like most classic european dragons, he usually prefers to shoot a stream of fire out of his mouth (or his butt), though he can shoot and throw fireballs if he so chooses. It's worth nothing that he can even use his fire when not turned into a dragon. This fire is strong enough to send enemies reeling and melt metals in a matter of seconds. Jake’s precision with his fire is to such a great extent that he can even make an ice statue out of snow (somehow).
Eye of the Dragon
While Jake’s human form is far less impressive than his dragon form, as mentioned above he can still temporarily enhance his senses with his dragon abilities. One of these abilities, the Eye of the Dragon, gives Jake’s vision a massive boost. Not only does it let him see farther, but it also gives him nightvision.
Ear of the Dragon
Jake’s vision isn’t the only thing that can get an upgrade. With the Ear of the Dragon, Jake’s hearing is enhanced, allowing him to hear sounds more acutely than normal. It also lets him detect individual sounds, even if they’re dampened or obscured by things like doorways or soundproofing. It’s sensitivity is so potent it can allow Jake to hear things from anywhere across New York City.
Wings of the Dragon
While not officially named, Jake can summon his dragon wings in human form, usually for slow descents.
Claw of the Dragon
Allows Jake to manifest his claws in human form, letting him pick locks or perform… other tasks he could do with his claws.
Bad Breath
As a temporary side-effect of his fire-breathing glands maturing, Jake has severely bad breath. It’s so foul that it instantly knocked out the soul-stealing Nyx, put a girl in the hospital, and melted the metal off a row of lockers.
Duplication
Dragons somehow have the magical ability to create doppelgangers of themselves. These doppelgangers can follow Jake’s directions and are as powerful as he is, but they also take a lot of focus and chi to create. Usually he’s only been seen creating up to one extra clone, however, with chi amplification from special means, he can create up to five doppelgangers.
Non-Physical Interaction
As shown by the episode “A Ghost Story”, Jake is capable of hitting ghosts with his melee attacks due to his magical nature as a dragon, despite being completely untouchable to humans.
Feats
Danny Phantom

- Has saved Amity Park, and the world, numerous times
- Bested his evil future self, who was supposed to be more powerful
- Helped take down Skulker alongside rookie ghost-hunter Valerie Gray, while both were chained together.
- Orchestrated a prison break against Walker
- Outsmarted Freakshow, who possessed the Reality Gauntlet (his world’s equivalent of the Infinity Gauntlet, allowing Freakshow to “control all reality”)
- Teamed up with the other Nicktoons characters to defeat the Evil Syndicate and their Doomsday Device, Professor Calamitous and the Toybots, Mawgu, and the Globs of Doom.
- Became the “savior of the Ghost Zone” by locking Pariah Dark, the Ghost King, back in his sarcophagus.
- Alongside the other ghosts of the Ghost Zone, turned the entire Earth intangible to prevent its destruction by the Disasteroid.
- Frequently defeats Vlad Plasmius, a half-ghost with over 20 years more experience than Danny.
Power
- Knocked around a giant meat monster in a very early outing
- Later in that battle, charged into that monster, obliterating it and leaving a rather large crater (737.81 tons of TNT)
- Lifted the Wright Brothers’ plane, which weighs 600 to 700 pounds
- Casually carries a school bus full of children, likely weighing anywhere near 15 tons
- Knocks over Technus in his hefty robot suit
- Sent Ember careening through a large TV
- Along with some unwanted assistance from Vlad, fodderized some ghost skeletons, the same that were effortlessly throwing cars into buildings while causing chaos
- Kicked a ghost dragon to the ground, and that wouldn't be the only time

- This giant beast was larger than these bleachers, and even lifted and tossed them with ease
- One kick sends Vlad through multiple floors and beyond
- Stops a mighty swing from Fright Knight
- Should scale to his recurring nemesis, Vlad Masters
- Butch Hartman claims here that Vlad survived being hit by the Disasteroid at the end of Phantom Planet and was left stranded in outer space. Take it with a grain of salt.
- In a sword duel between the two, Vlad craters the ground with a single slash
- Second ever Ghostly Wail utterly destroyed a building, blew away a car and did significant damage to Dark Danny all in the same breath.
- In the Danny Phantom comic, Seeing Red, from the official Nickelodeon magazine, Danny destroys Undergrowth by freezing his entire body with an ice ray and blowing him to smithereens with a single ghost ray.

- Flew into outer space in seconds
- Dodged a Ghost Ray, which should move at light speed (2.29c)
- Flew interplanetary distances in the Ghost Zone to reach Pariah’s Keep (3.034 c)
- Dodged two lasers from a satellite in space
Durability
- Survived being thrashed by most of his rogues gallery at once, multiple times, both in the present and from the future
- Using the Ghostly Wail doesn’t outright kill him. Given the damage it causes to the surroundings and due to the laws of Newtonian Physics, the fact that Danny doesn’t suffer any internal damage from the backlash is impressive.
- Can survive in the vacuum of space without a pressurized suit, though still needs oxygen
- Withstood getting blasted by TNT
- Tanked getting hit by his own Ghost Ray
- While in human form, resisted a forced transformation from one of Vlad Plasmius’s machines, then survived the overloaded machine exploding
- Tanks multiple hits from a sphinx. He also gets hit in his human form after using his Ghost Wail which sends him on top of a pyramid. The sphinx can destroy buildings at ease.
- Took a beating from Dark Danny and his clones, who was much more experienced and stronger than Danny.
Jake Long

- Graduated middle school.
- Ate 8033 eggs.
Power
- Knocked over the giant Aztec Guardian Serpent on multiple occasions, even flinging it miles away.

- Should be on par with his master and Grandfather, Lao Shi, who stopped a train.
- Sent the Huntsman flying through an elevator door
- In his human form, Jake was able to knock out bug monsters with one sweep kick, as well as wrestle an alligator.
- Easily held up and tossed boulders with his tail

- Get crushed by an egg-shaped press.
- Gets his shit kicked in by the Jersey Devil even while in human form.
- Gets hit by a train.
- Gets hit by lightning.
- Gets crushed by a giant kid (get it? Cus the kid is actually a gia-I’ll see myself out) (where’s the funny).
- Gets hit by a rock going at 180mph, though since he was flying at 179 mph it didn’t do much
- Superior to his father, who got hit in the head with a boulder and survived
- In his human form, comparable to Spud and Brad, who survived several pieces of heavy sporting equipment falling on them.
- Survived a chemical explosion that created a pillar of energy into the sky in his human form
- Should scale to the Black Dragon, who once got crushed so hard that it made a small crater.
Weaknesses
Danny Phantom
Danny is powerful, but there are limitations to his powers. Some of his abilities like his Ghostly Wail drain him of his powers if used too frequently or for too long and can force him to shift back into his human form. And in his human form, he’s about as powerful as your average 14-year old (possibly less so). Also, while he has shown to come up with some impressive plans, he’s also rather lacking in book smarts.
In terms of a fight, there is one thing to note: Most of Danny’s weapons are only really effective against ghosts, and not so much against humans or non-ghost beings. And considering he himself can be weak to these items as well, this means that an opponent capable of disarming him can use the items against him (like when Jazz managed to accidentally catch him in the Fenton Thermos...multiple times). The anti-ghost element Ectoranium and the flowers known as Blood Blossoms are also extremely harmful for Danny to touch, or even go near, in his ghost form.
Jake Long
Much like Danny, Jake’s powerful in his transformed state, but fairly weak in his human form. Jake doesn’t have any specific physical weaknesses, but while he may be “cool and hot like a frozen sun”, he is rather lacking in the intelligence department. And while he can come up with a quick strategy here and there, he seems to prefer using brute force over actual tactics.
Jake is, quite notably, a slacker, meaning he’ll often try to find shortcuts to solve his problems, even when those shortcuts land him in trouble (like the time he tried to use a magic powder to help him create a doppelganger, but accidentally grabbed the wrong one and made an evil, uncontrollable one). He’s also occasionally liable to be clumsy in combat, resulting in him getting into unfavorable situations, and there are times where he was forced to revert back to his human form after taking enough damage. And finally, Sphinx hair stops his powers from working...somehow
Summary
Danny Phantom

- More powerful in most circumstances
- Likely faster
- Has more abilities, including some to bypass Jake’s durability
- Has experience fighting draconic opponents
- Significant levels of regeneration
- Fenton Thermos may be able to capture Jake under certain conditions
- Can create more duplicates on average, and with less physical strain
- He’s a phantom.
- Sick costume

- Had only one crossover that wasn’t a video game, and it was pretty terrible
Jake Long
Advantages:
- Has shown to have intangibility resistances before, having physically manhandled ghosts
- Has spent more time being the American Dragon than Danny has being Danny Phantom
- Might be able to fight off overshadowing...
- Could theoretically sense Danny when he goes invisible with Ear of the Dragon (theoretically)
- Better physical fighter, knowing martial arts
- Ear and Eye of the Dragon are more useful than Danny’s Ghost Sense
- Superior human form
- Is a dragon
- Has a Lilo & Stitch crossover
Disadvantages:
- Weaker in most circumstances
- Likely slower
- ...though he’s shown susceptibility to possession/mind control
- Has less abilities than Danny, and has nothing Danny hasn’t seen
- While he can create more duplicates under specific circumstances, he gets weaker with each additional clone
- No easy way around Danny’s regeneration
- Ghostly Wail and Photokinesis would hurt Jake’s extra sensitive dragon hearing and sight
- His own ego, which hardly does him many favors in a fight
- Season 2 dragon design
- His relevancy (hopefully being in DB changes that)
Verdicts

Yeah, this fight is giving me hella middle school vibes… what the fuck was I doing in the mid-2000s again?
- Being obsessed with my PS2 and PSP
- Probably suffering from a mental breakdown because of Filipino classes
- Developing an obsession with Gyudon and Japanese food in general
- Wondering why the four Gods of MVC2 were a thing
- Watching too many cartoons (shout-out to Justice League Unlimited) and later being introduced to the anime rabbit hole i can never leave
- Witnessing the early Naruto craze and the renaissance of Gen 1 Pokemon in school
- Prepping for Revenge of the Sith
- Hopping on to Newgrounds and watching MK flash animations on loop
- Finding myself utterly confused as to why people were booing John Cena on TV
Huh
(*checks last 4 episodes of Death Battle*) Hey what the fuc---
So Danny and Jake are here to remind me that I am no longer 10 years old anymore and that life is no longer as simple as it once was. Probably has to do with the fact that they’re gonna kill each other and science has to prove who wins...probably.
So long story short, Danny’s got this fight in the bag decisively enough. Gonna keep this short and sweet given: ghost boi’s got better stats out of his ass (whether through direct feats or scaling to their foes) and with abilities, he’s packing enough counters and superior skills to triumph over his draconic competition.
Phantom Falcon
Danny vs Jake is a pretty cool match. Would’ve preferred Danny vs Yusuke but I’m okay with this
Danny has this, not gonna beat around the bush. Jake is MCB-town level, MHS-maaaaaaybe FTL, while Danny is large mountain-island and much more solidly FTL. I’ve heard about Jake scaling to the trident, which would make him country level in power, but he only got splashed a few times by water. Imo he shouldn’t really scale at all, and if we’re giving him that, then we might as well give Danny reality gauntlet scaling, which would make him even more powerful. Danny has overall better abilities and hax thanks to possession, barriers, soul shit, more reliable cloning, and regeneration that Jake just can’t get around, even if he manages to damage Danny. Jake may have the edge in experience/training and he counters some of Danny’s abilities, but those don’t mean much in the grand scheme of things. Jake’s going ghost.
Clockboxxer
He’s a Phantom~
Well, well, well, what a surprise. I totally expected Danny Phantom for the second half, and it turns out he originally WAS meant for the second half. Thank you, scheduling mishap, you’ve made me wait less.
But first, Obi vs Kakashi. Yeah, outcome was expected, though they went absolutely ham with the Legends scaling, way more than I thought they would. I also do think there was some highballing and lowballing, but the overall idea of Kenobi’s victory is right, so I’ll give ‘em a pass. Kakashi’s research and analysis was...cookie-cutter next to Kenobi’s, though. SFM boys popped off, that fight was sick. The Darth Vader Genjutsu scene might just be one of the best DB moments ever.
Anyway…
DANNY PHANTOM VS JAKE LONG AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Yeah, this is really what I wanted to see for Danny. There’s just so much chemistry here. Their powers go well together, their personalities go well together, the dialogue is totally gonna be filled with cheesy goodness. Aw, man, love me them 2000s cartoons, they had that extra pizazz in them. I’m glad this is sprite, though, since after Genos and War Machine, there are other things I want far more to be the second hand drawn fight, like Dexter vs Jimmy or Finn and Jake vs Mordecai and Rigby.
I’ve watched both shows, admittedly more of American Dragon, and I honestly don’t have a dog in this race, I love both these fellas. Though, it would be nice for the more popular Danny to win so the internet doesn’t blow up…
Oh, yeah, the prediction. Who should win between these two teenage crime-fighting mysticaldefenders anyway? “Going Ghost” or “Dragon Up”? Who has the better theme song? Will I ever cease this filler?
So at first, everyone and their mama was thinking this was a one-sided slaughter for Danny. I mean, Jake can crush a building and fly at 180 mph? So what? Danny’s way above that.
We were sorely mistaken on the macdaddy dragon’s stats. As I thought, Jake was super under-researched. Jake’s feats go several steps beyond the small stuff like melting support beams. But whether or not that’ll save him from going ghost is the money question. I’m not taking any gear into account here, because pretty much none of it is standard, but the Ecto-Skeleton would make mincemeat of Jake in seconds. And for the record, crossovers are being disregarded, as they’re unlikely to matter in the actual episode anyway.
Starting off simple with the abilities, Danny is definitely more versatile than Jake, having way more options to end the fight. Danny’s defenses are certainly superior, thanks to that Ecto Barrier. Cryokinesis and pyrokinesis cancel each other out for the most part, but the phantom has a lot more to offer.
Really, the only notable thing in Jake’s arsenal against Danny is pyrokinesis, but even then, Danny can mimic it with ghostly flames. Both can fly, and both can make duplicates. But Jake gets weakened pretty quickly from using his chi just for one doppelganger, while Danny can make 3 with little issue despite being rusty with the technique. Danny has impressive regeneration which Jake would have a hard time getting around. Oh, and the sheer power of the Ghostly Wail should be enough to shred the AmDrag.
So Danny has way better offensive and defensive options, but how does Jake deal with the more ethereal stuff? Namely overshadowing, intangibility, and invisibility.
Well, Jake has no special resistance to overshadowing, but it’s not that bad, Danny’s not gonna possess him and force him to fly top speed into the ground and break his neck. Most he’d do is a “Why are you hitting yourself?” routine. Jake can deal with intangibility, given his non-physical interaction. Invisibility is a tossup. Jake can’t SEE Danny, but he COULD sense him...theoretically. So overshadowing is useful, intangibility is useless, and invisibility is in the middle.
Overall, Danny’s arsenal is much more versatile and useful than Jake’s rather limited toolset in comparison. Danny has a bunch of ways to finish Jake off that he doesn’t have an easy answer to: rewrite his DNA, take out his soul, a bunch of other stuff. Meanwhile, nothing in Jake’s arsenal surpasses what Danny can handle.
But let’s get to the good part, the stats. This is where I’m sad to say my boy Jake falls short.
In terms of power, even Danny’s basic feats go beyond some of Jake’s best. A casual Danny can pull off 700+ tons of TNT VS Jake’s average 500+ tons. Even when Jake gets into the very low kilotons, Danny’s feats and scaling still go further into the kilotons, and even greater. To me, it’s looking like a Small Town Jake vs at the very least City Danny, probably Small Island. Though, there is something that needs to be addressed: Jake scaling to Tiburon with Neptune’s trident.
Tiburon with Neptune’s trident could cause a huge flood and move an entire coast. This is easily in the teratons, which would give Jake a MASSIVE boost. But there are some problems with this. FIrst of all, Jake never directly clashes with the trident, only some water that gets sent at him as a byproduct of an attack. Second of all, this just screams outlier. Some iffy scaling that would net Jake at billions of times stronger than he usually is just doesn’t cut it for me.
But even then, if we were to buy this, Danny’s dubious higher end scaling is not only, well, higher (Planet-Star), it’s more consistent. Though, I’m not saying I agree with that either. Basically, if you’re consistent with what you buy for both, Danny comes out with a large power advantage in every situation.
Speed is easy for Danny’s part, as 3c is consistent with Ghost Rays being called light and having its properties alongside Danny’s FTL travel. Pretty good. Jake, on the other hand, it depends on if you think the Huntsman beams are actually light. If they are, Jake would be roughly 1.66x faster. If they aren’t, Danny takes speed. I personally don’t really believe they should be light, but I’m gonna give Jake the benefit of the doubt and highball him, because I̶'̶m̶ ̶b̶i̶a̶s̶e̶d̶ I feel like throwing our boy Jakey a bone. Danny’s faster when being reasonable though lol
Durability, see power.
So, you already know who I’m going for here. As much as it hurts to say, I can’t see Jake winning this one. Being generous, Jake would have a slight speed advantage and be the more skilled fighter, due to his formal training. He also spits better bars. But it’s not enough to save him from Danny’s far superior power, toughness, and versatility. Jake may have Longed for the victory, but he doesn’t stand a ghost of a chance against the Fenton Phantom. Side note: including crossovers, the outcome stays the same.
So I’m super hype to see how the fight turns out. And if the OST isn’t lyrical, throw the whole show away. Nah, just kidding. u n l e s s
Man, out of all 3 of the teen hero fights this season, the one I like more has to bite the dust. Tragic. Hype for whatever episode 10 is.
By the way, “Going Ghost” > “Dragon Up” and Jake has the better theme song.

Lesson learned: do not underestimate the powers of the force. Should’ve figured considering Darth Vader’s quote. So, what’s next?
(sees Danny Phantom vs Jake Long)
Exact reaction when fight announced: Ah. There it is.
So much for me wanting Danny Phantom vs Starfire from DC. Probably for the best. This matchup is a bit more iconic...I guess? You’d think me being big on dragons that I’d love Jake Long (the show not the character) And...you’d be wrong. I actually thought it was cheesy and dorky whenever it showed up on TV. Danny Phantom was always my jam when the show was newer on TV. I still have fond memories of it and can quote certain lines of dialogue verbatim.
I’ll be honest, when I first heard about this matchup, knowing nothing about Jake, I thought “Okay, chances are high Jake can probably see invisible opponents, but idk if he’ll have any means of hitting intangible ones.” Turns out Jake can cover for both of these issues, but still isn’t quite up to snuff dealing with Danny’s last hax: Possession. While it’s not quite the game-breaking move as his intangibility, it still provides Danny with an opportunity or two to gain a brief advantage by turning Jake’s own power against him to make Jake beat himself up. Danny is a teenager. He is not above the “Why are you hitting yourself?” routine.
But that’s all fluff and filler. Let’s get down to the facts of this debate of whether or not Ghost Boy or Dragon Boy takes home the gold. And from what I’m seeing tossed around: Danny Phantom is going to be the winner of this match up.
Let’s review: Danny’s low-tier consistent feats of strength and speed are higher than the same-tier feats for Jake. And even if you gave both the benefit of the doubt, Danny’s outliers are much much scarier. Even if they were roughly equal in power and speed, I’d still give it to Danny for a few reasons.
- Cryokinesis and pyrokinesis counter each other for the most part and Danny’s cryokinesis is hardly his only long range tool.
- It is contested whether or not Jake can harm Danny while he’s intangible, but Danny can also just split his body while in ghost form and then reform his body without issue. Additionally, this gives Danny greater escape tools if debris or objects are being chucked at him.
- While Jake can see and hear Danny while invisible, that doesn’t mean his intuition is perfect and he could still be caught off guard, especially if Danny turns intangible first and phases through a building.
- Jake has absolutely no defense against the Ghostly Wail aside from just tanking it outright and chances are high that a couple of these are likely to bring him down.
- It is contested if Jake is immune to being Overshadowed or not. While it’s possible he might be able to forcibly eject Danny out through sheer willpower, it’s doubtful he’s outright immune to it, which is good news for Danny in a pinch.
- Even if both were given their full equipment, the Ecto-Skeleton is just...way way overpowered and far harder to destroy than Jake’s magic game controller, which - given Danny’s cunning and guile - would be much simpler for him to deal with than the reverse.
In the end, while both fighters are impressive, Danny just has the stats and the arsenal to train this dragon to learn a new trick: Pushing up Daisies. Jake will not be long for this world when crossing paths with Danny who will unleash some phantom pain for a Spectercular victory. The winner is Danny Phantom.
MLDKF/Wolf/Swiftwind
Alright, time to have yet another battle between two of the icons from my childhood. So, some backstory: growing up, my family didn’t really have cable. Most of the TV I watched was on local channels. But, for a few short years, we had access to Dish, and with it, I was able to watch a ton of the three major kids channels and the channel that would one day become known as Discovery Family. And yes, these two shows were on my watchlist. Now, it’s been a while since I got to see these shows (though as of the time I’m writing this, I’m rewatching both), but they were still as much of a part of my childhood as some of the other characters who have been in Death Battle.
Now, let’s discuss the fight itself. This episode seems very similar to Johnny Cage vs. Captain Falcon. Numbers aside, this is a close match. Both characters have similar abilities like flight, duplication powers, and elemental attacks (which could arguably cancel each other out). Danny can turn invisible, but Jake could find him. Jake prefers close-range combat but Danny can phase through walls or floors. There are a lot of abilities that seem to balance each other out, so it SEEMS like a close match on paper
But when you get into the numbers, that’s where one of these two comes out on top very easily. Jake has the training advantage, having actually been formally trained, and he has fought ghosts. But Danny has fought dragons and has the experience advantage in terms of what he’s dealt with, as Jake has never had to face some of the things Danny can do, but Danny sees things Jake can do all the time. Plus, he’s had training too with his Cryokinesis when he needed to fight Undergrowth. Danny, I would also argue, is smarter. He can typically come up with a plan pretty quickly and is skilled at exploiting his opponents’ weaknesses. Jake...doesn’t do that - or at the very least doesn’t do it very often - so Danny’s got the edge there. But the Stat Trinity is where Danny blows Jake out of the water. While one could make an argument that Jake might be faster, I’ve seen plenty of evidence saying otherwise. But without a doubt, Danny is much stronger AND tougher just by fighting Undergrowth. Plus there’s the whole tricky business with the Disasteroid and scaling to that vs. Neptune’s Trident and scaling to that, but that’s opening a can of worms that’s going to make this a bit too long.
So with the minor advantages he has besides with numbers AND having much better stats overall, I think Danny wins this. Danny’s going to make Jake go ghost in this fight. Jake just can’t drag-one up the half-ghost. I’m going to go berate myself for making two awful, awful puns. My vote goes to Danny Phantom

No, I will not spend the rest of this segment making memes about Planet Sheen being oh so funky. Sorry. (BTW I’d like to thank G1DBFB for letting me participate, real nice of y’all).
So...The guy whose superpower is dying vs the mac-daddy phat dagron of the NYC. Gee, I wonder who’s gonna win…
Okay, in all seriousness, this is actually a very complex matchup with a lot of, dare I say, layers? Both Danny and Jake have their own advantages that definitely don’t make it a complete stomp like, let’s face it, many people thought it was going to be.
That said, while I do think this fight is closer than it appears, I do still believe there is a decisive winner, so let’s go through and see who that is.
Of course, this is a numbers game at the end of the day, so let’s see how their numbers stack up.
In terms of Jake Long, he’s definitely a lot more impressive than what was believed for him initially. He’s got those ever important pillar feats that every vs debate winner needs to have, he can scale to dragons that can shake volcanoes with just a couple of fire blasts, he can vaporize entire pillars of water, he’s got the whole shebang.
Danny, meanwhile, is also quite impressive. He’s fought against and defeated a ghost dragon that could part clouds over a castle, he stomped Undergrowth the plant ghost (who managed to spread his roots across the entire city of Amity Park in a few hours), and he even managed to defeat Dark Danny, a much stronger future version of Danny.
However, when you actually see the difference in their power, it becomes abundantly clear that Danny just is better overall. His scaling to Dorathea’s cloud parting or Undergrowth creating a forest across North America are miles ahead of Jake’s best feats/scaling of shaking a volcano by the Australian Dragon (1.79 kilotons), or vaporizing the water pillar summoned by Neptune’s Trident (532 tons). There are other facets to go over but I’ll cover them later. And even though Danny scaling physically to Vortex is dubious due to Vortex stomping him, Danny’s Ghostly Wail was powerful enough to injure Dark Danny, a ghost who should likely be at least comparable to Vortex, meaning Danny’s Wail should be at Vortex’s level.
Speed is sort of an interesting case. Both of them are capable of dodging projectiles that have multiple qualities of light, those being ghost rays and the Huntsclan spears for Danny and Jake respectively. That said, both also have been under some scrutiny in that regard, Jake moreso. Danny is overall a bit more consistently faster than light given his interplanetary travels in the Ghost Zone, and without these FTL feats Danny is generally faster, being capable of dodging lasers as opposed to Jake’s quad mach lightning timing. So I’m just gonna give Danny the point on this one, albeit only by a hair because technically Jake does have higher speed if the benefit of the doubt is given to both.
So, generally speaking Danny seems to have the edge in stats, but there are some other factors to consider, such as their unique abilities and how they counter each other. So, let’s go over the powers that are similar to each other:
-Both can duplicate.
-Both have elemental abilities that oppose each other (fire for Jake, ice for Danny)
-Both have enhanced senses.
-Both can enter each other’s dreams.
Out of these, Danny’s duplication is better on average. While Jake can make more clones than Danny under some circumstances, it requires a special chi-enhancement potion that Jake doesn’t normally carry around with him, and without it he’s only been shown making one clone at a time, while Danny can make at least 3. Even if you want to say that Jake could potentially make 5 clones when he matured, he would still be outmatched by a matured Danny, since experienced half-ghosts like Vlad have been shown making hundreds of clones with ease. This is all without mentioning that the cost for making clones is far steeper for Jake than it is for Danny. While both are weakened somewhat by cloning, the weakening effect is far more noticeable with Jake, given that Vlad could create hundreds of clones and only be slightly weaker than Danny, while Jake made 5 clones and got easily stomped by his evil clone.
In terms of their elemental abilities, Danny’s ice is more versatile than Jake’s fire, but in terms of their potency they are about even. Danny’s ice could freeze Vlad, who could survive in space with little issue, and Jake’s fire could hurt Krylock, a creature that lives in a dimension filled with lava. So they should cancel each other out. And finally, Jake’s Ear and Eye of the Dragon are better than Danny’s ghost sense, since the former provide enhanced sensing of all incoming threats, while the ghost sense only is effective for ghosts. And the dream stuff probably isn’t gonna be a factor anyway so let’s move on.
As for Jake’s counters to Danny’s abilities:
-Jake’s ability to hit intangible ghosts counters Danny’s intangibility.
-Jake’s astral form allowing him to fight back with mental concentration could allow him to resist the effects of Danny’s overshadow technique.
And if you thought I would bring up how Eye of the Dragon would let Jake see Danny when he’s invisible...no. This is just straight-up false. Throughout the entire 52 22-minute segment run of the show, Jake has never used Eye of the Dragon to see invisible opponents, or track thermal signatures. It has purely been used as a way to see in the dark or from faraway distances. In fact, Jake has fought opponents who could turn invisible a number of times, and every time Jake has never been able to see them directly, instead relying on either the environment or the opponents themselves to be able to see them. So, no, Jake is not going to be able to see Danny when he’s invisible, only sense him.
And now we have all the abilities Danny has that Jake has no counter to:
-Manipulating Jake’s biology
-Sealing Jake in the Fenton Thermos (possibly)
-Invisibility
-Power Mimicry with the Ghost Shield
-Ghostly Barriers
-Possibly infecting Jake with ecto-acne
-Removing Jake’s soul.
-Regeneration
Now, not all of these may be usable, but they are things Danny can do that Jake can’t answer to, at least not easily. So if you want to accept the crossover between Oddparents, DP, T.U.F.F Puppy, and Bunsen as canon, then Danny could potentially just suck Jake into the thermos right when the fight starts due to Dragon Jake’s nature as a magical creature. And due to Danny’s better duplication and his invisibility, he has much better control over the battlefield, giving him a leg up to some degree. This especially helps when combined with Danny’s insane regenerative prowess, allowing him to come back after being reduced to nothing but a couple puddles, and even regenerating his entire body if it’s destroyed as long as his core is intact (which Jake wouldn’t know to target). All these survivability and evasion tactics means that over time, Jake will sustain a lot more impactful damage than Danny, making it easier for Danny to win.
As for the smaller things, Jake has a much better human form. Jake is actually superhuman and has martial arts training, while Danny is just an average 14 year old without his family’s equipment. Jake also has an edge in experience, as he’s actually been the American Dragon for two years while Danny has only been Danny Phantom for one. Although, the scope of opponents both have fought are roughly similar, so they’re pretty even in this category.
But before I give my verdict, I do wanna cover some other things.
-It has been argued that Jake can scale to the full power of Neptune’s Trident, which was said to be capable of submerging half the continental United States in water, a feat calculated to about 253 teratons of TNT at its mid-end, well above most of Danny Phantom’s feats, including Vortex. However, scaling to this is rather questionable. Not only is this feat far higher than any other feat Jake Long has by some distance, but the Trident’s power is not normal hydrokinesis. It doesn’t create water, instead blasting the water and then having it move to attack enemies. As such, the most Jake encountered while fighting the Trident was a few spurts of water, and the aforementioned water pillar, neither of which had the same power as the flood it could potentially create. And even if this feat was called into consideration, Danny still has feats of similar usability that are either comparable or far superior (such as Vlad’s feat of potentially tanking the Disasteroid as shown by 10YL, or the dimension creation feats of high-tier ghosts which has some backing)
-In the crossover with the Lilo and Stitch franchise, Jake was shown being able to fight on par with Stitch and Gantu, meaning he would scale to Stitch’s island level feat of tanking hits from Slushy. This is generally above most of Danny’s discussed feats, but if we were to take this crossover scaling into account, then we would also have to do the same thing for Danny and his crossovers. Such as being able to take hits from Mawgu, a titanic beast set to destroy the Nicktoons multiverse, or on a smaller scale, Jimmy Neutron, who scales to Sheen, who scales to Dorkus, who tanked this explosion on two occasions:
A feat that also can get into the teratons range, meaning Danny still can keep up with Jake’s strength.
-While Jake’s magic game controller, if he did manage to get his hands on it in the fight, would help against Danny by allowing him to rewind time and turn invisible, as well as boost his stats, the stat boost that Jake gains likely wouldn’t be enough to counter some of Danny’s higher tier equipment; namely the Ecto-Skeleton, which boosts Danny’s fighting capabilities by a hundred-fold (far better than the controller’s shown stat buffing).
Overall, while both Jake and Danny are certainly no slouch in the fighting department, and this will not be an easy fight for either, in the end, only one of them has the chops to walk out alive...or, undead in this case. Danny just has much better stats, more useful abilities, and generally more material to pull from than Jake, and maybe even a better theme song. As such, Jake will end up frozen while Danny remains the chosen.
Although before I close out…
Jake and Rose>>>>>>>Danny and Sam. Facts.

When this episode was announced, I'm pretty sure that everyone and their mothers thought that it would be a massive stomp in Danny's favor, myself included. However, much to my surprise, Jake's stats are wayyy higher than various wikis and respect threads would have you believe. But, do these stat boosts give him enough power to beat Danny? The answer is no. Not even close.
If you've made it this far, you've most likely read everyone else's verdicts. Needless to say, if I were to go into detail as to why this fight is still very one-sided (albeit to a far lesser degree than previously thought), I'd just be repeating everything that was already stated in the verdicts above and below. So, to save you some time, I'll leave you with a quote from Danny Phantom's creator, Butch Hartman: "Good luck to Jake Long because Danny won’t be the only one Goin’ Ghost!"
Also, a special thanks to G1DBFB for having me on here again. This fight was a blast to research and debate. I hope this episode will reignite interest in Jake Long. Maybe Disney will put his series on Disney+ because apparently they forgot about him. Heck, maybe Nickelodeon will revive Danny Phantom as well. More than likely, neither of these things will happen, but a man can dream. Later, dudes!

“One T-Pose a day keeps the dragons away.”
-Danny Fenton-
The real cal howard
So err...can’t get more specific than the people before me have. Just going to say off the bat that Daniel wins over Jake. However, since I’d be remiss to give a low quality vote, I’ll go into redundant detail on why.
Firstly, the stats. At first glance, they’re relatively close. Low ends, shouldn’t be too far apart, but it’s still in Danny’s favor when it comes to raw AP. I don’t buy teraton Jake (like everyone else here on the verdicts doesn’t) so I won’t need to say anything extra. Moving lots of water > moving little water, and Jake only experienced the latter. While Danny scaling to Vortex is also a little touch-and-go, it’s more believable, and even in the worst case scenario, the wail scales above it. Not even gonna mention the dimension feats as even if I believed in them, Danny wouldn’t scale. As always, durability winds up in the same position as power. But onto speed. And this is also in Danny’s favor. I know that Jake has the edge if you give him the Huntsman lasers, but I’m not giving it to him. Like the Spirit Gun before it, just bouncing off of mirrors and traveling in a straight line isn’t enough. But to be fair, I wouldn’t give lightspeed ghost rays to Danny either. Similar reasons. However, Danny doesn’t need it. With reacting to Technus’s satellite lasers and his interplanetary travel feats, he scales above Jake’s lightning timing. But as you can see, the raw stats aren’t a blowout. Just in Danny’s favor, at a low level, of course. And with stats out of the way, let’s get to abilities and hax...which Danny utterly dominates. Sure, Jake can likely hit Danny while intangible and Jake has more skill. But that’s like...it. Danny’s clones are better and less taxing. Pyrokinesis and cryokinesis is better than just pyrokinesis. Shields and power mimicry trump not having those. Eye of the Dragon doesn’t necessarily counter invisibility. Jake has no counter to possession. Jake can’t counter Danny’s regen without vaporizing him, and Jake’s not doing that with a stat disadvantage. And there’s more that I missed, but this is enough. Sorry, Jake. you my boy, and I loved your show, theme song, and Dante Basco, but the true winner of this match is…
Dragapult. The winner is Dragapult. He’s not only both, a ghost and a dragon, but also a stealth fighter jet that launches babies like missiles. He wins. No contest.

YO DANNY PHANTOM!!!!
Seeing this fight really makes me realize how full circle I have come, what with Danny being my first introductory DB Blog experience back when Screwattack was black and blue. (Made trending when I was only 12 years old!!)
Obviously with the familiarity of DP, most would probably expect the boy ghost wonder to win. And they are completely right. However, there’s a few nuances to this fight that prevent it from being a total stomp.
For one, Jake can touch intangible beings. This is shown from his encounter in A Ghost Story where he could hit several ghosts while his human friends could not.
I would like to note, having a resistance doesn’t mean he has full immunity. He’s had his soul switched (Even while in dragon form) out of his body in Switcheroo, so while I believe he can give Danny a few hits, Danny’s intangibility has been shown to be far more versatile, in that he can also touch and go through intangible beings with similar resistances, while also being able to make his surroundings intangible. This is because his intangibility, as shown in multiple episodes (Like the very last one), is used through some visible strain, meaning he can exert enough effort into his intangibility to go through Jake.
If given the ability to go through Jake, he’ll obviously be able to overshadow him, which I feel could potentially be the finisher right there, since Jake couldn’t so much as resist the mental manipulation of a Siren’s call and would have killed his friend had Trixie not up and knocked out the siren responsible.
Depending on how you look at it, their elemental abilities could possibly cancel out, seeing as Danny’s ice is as ridiculously cold as Jake's fire is ridiculously hot. However, Danny’s uses for ice are also more versatile, being able to create force fields and weather conditions with it, giving him extra defense and control of his surroundings.
With Jake's knowledge of martial arts thanks to his arguably superior training, Jake has 5 limbs at his disposal for martial arts up close. Danny, however, is obviously no slouch. Not only has he consistently been gang banged by hordes of his rogues gallery and lived and knocked them out in kind, he’s also bested Vlad a few times in combat, a half ghost with 20 years of experience.
Jake, as compared to his Australian counterpart, should be able to breathe fireballs capable of tremoring small volcanoes. Oddly enough, Danny’s regular Dragon ghost villain is capable of also breathing fire strong enough to part clouds. Much stronger than Jake, or any dragon from his universe.
Jake's possibly biggest feat is his Trident scaling where he fought a shark person using Poseidon’s Trident, which was stated to use part of Earth’s ocean to cover a large portion of America if used in full strength. Now while this boost in power excites me, the feat itself is an outlier for many reasons, one being that his second highest feat of power is small town, and second being every single feat outside of the trident feat falls severely under the trident, even feats from the higher ups in the show like the Dark Dragon.
Now let’s say we do scale Jake to the Trident.. this does more harm than good. Applying the same logic to Danny Phantom, who has a plethora of outlier feats, we get.. staggering results. Results that put Danny into an inconsistently consistent track record from country to planet levels of power.
The biggest of them all being The Fright Knight’s sword, a weapon stated by the Fright Knight himself to cause a fear storm that would consume the planet. This is better than the Trident for three reasons, as one we are getting the user of the weapon itself describing the true power their weapon possesses, two the Fright Knight is also incredibly knowledgeable on how to use the weapon, while the shark person using the Trident was monster of the week #35, and three, Danny physically manhandles the Fright Knight and his sword up close and personal.
Is Danny planet level? LOL NO. Not even close. But it’s these outlier feats that need to be reasonably discarded as while the idea of these two being at astronomically high levels sounds exciting, it was never meant to fit their narrative/can be chocked up to plot induced stupidity (PIS). Otherwise not only do we scale him to stuff like Fright Knight, but we get scaling to ghosts like the Ghostwriter who can also turn the moon into his face.
That said, without this, Danny has consistently shown to have feats in the gigatons while Jake is on the lower kilotons. Danny also has feats of dodging lasers and out-speeding hypersonic space crafts and more. Danny either counters, negates or overpowers Jake.
Jake won’t be in high spirits when Danny drags-on this fight to Jake's grave.
Jukem
Play Pokkén.
Definitely a nostalgic match for me, though it’s weird since I don’t remember watching either shows much, I just remember watching them sometimes and liking it a lot. Anyway, when it comes to stats, Danny has the edge. Not only is he more consistent with higher end feats, but the only chance Jake has is that trident and the lasers the Huntsman’s staff fires. For the trident, it screams outlier, and Jake never really clashes with it besides him evaporating water from the ocean that was being shot at him.
The laser is also iffy, as it’s electricity and not light. The staff uses other abilities like forcefields and teleportation that are electricity-based, and other times that it fires projectiles at Jake, the projectile clearly gives off electric shocks. The only thing supporting it being light is that it reflected off a mirror, which cracked anyway after it reflected it. Danny has better showings of FTL feats, and is all around stronger and more durable, especially if Vlad did survive getting hit by that meteor at the end of Phantom Planet.
As for abilities, Jake is as hot as frozen sun, so he should be immune to Danny’s cryokinesis, clearly. Too bad Danny has many more powers than Jake. While Danny probably can’t possess Jake due to that being related to his intangibility, with Jake physically hurting intangible enemies, he still has things Jake can’t overcome like his regen, force fields, and AoE with his Ghostly Wail. Danny, like Jake, can fly, use fire, and duplicate himself, and for the latter, he can do more at once in normal circumstances. His cryokinesis also counters Jake’s fire attacks. There’s really no good way for Jake to take Danny down, even if he’s been trained better. Jake is gonna be an American Phantom after this.

(Sweet, More Childhood Characters I can see destroyed)
I was relaxing a lot while doing college, which is why I truly enjoyed Obi-Wan Vs. Kakashi. Did not do a review on it due to my time and not in the mood for it, but still a 10/10 as everything in that episode brought me back to why I love Death Battle as a whoIe. Even after the episode was done, I still rewatched it due to how entertaining the fight was made from start to finish. Danny Vs. Jake was the icing on the cake as I truly enjoyed the shows when I was a kid. I did not watch the full series, but I can truly recognize them from memory. Also, exicited that Butch Hartman is also hyped for this matchup as I truly love the creator and his creative series. But… going to keep it simple and say that Danny will win in the end. I also did this when it was originally a Community Death Battle, and I truly know that Danny is beyond what Jake will handle. Jake does have his own advantages and can harm Danny, but the Phantom is just too powerful for Jake to handle in the long run. Danny has shown throughout the series to have far better stats (speed, strength, and duriablity) than what Long has shown in his series, while also having better abilities and equipment that can take down Jake for good. Not only that, but Danny has shown multiple times (from what I have seen in his series) that he has better stamina on his ghost form than Jake does with his dragon form. Overall, Danny is just on a whole different level when it comes to abilities, stats, and greater stamina. It wasn’t Long for Jake to be the one who was going ghost.
I hope you all are hyped for this episode as I am and enjoy my prediction overall. I had a blast supporting this prediction and can not wait for the fight. Stay awesome everyone.

So let’s get down to business. This match has been wanted by me and a bunch of other people for a while. Plus, more under repped series and media are always good. Now initially everyone would go in thinking this was a stomp, but I find that this fight is closer than you might think.
Firstly, the business of strength. There’s been much debate on the nature of Neptune’s Trident and if Jake scales to it. I’m gonna have to say yes to it. Not only was Tiburón trying to hurt Jake in that scene, but Jake held back the blast of water with his fire breath directly. The force alone should have overpowered him if there was that much of a disparity. So I think Jake takes a slight strength edge. Being equally as generous, Danny should scale to Vortex, who also has a small country feat, and just like the trident, gives Danny both city and country feats to avoid outlier status.
Speed is a blowout for Danny, even if you want to discount his Ghost Rays like some do The Huntsman’s staff beams. Danny flying through the Ghost Zone is way faster than what Jake can manage, which is just scaling to lightning timing.
On the topic of abilities, Jake has some decent counters to Danny. He can breathe fire to counter Danny’s ice, he can touch spiritual beings to get past intangibility, his Astral Form could be argued to bolster his mental combat abilities to beat Overshadowing, and he may even be able to see and hear Danny with his Eye and Ear of Dragon. However as far as usefulness goes, Danny’s powers win. Even if Jake can hit him, Danny can still use intangibility to interact with the environment and get around Jake, adding to his speed edge. He also has the ability to heal most of the damage Jake can dish out. Danny can utilize his powers in more situations than Jake can use his more specific abilities, which gives him the edge.
Overall. I’d say Jake takes strength slightly, training, and counters several of Danny’s moves. That’s great and I’m happy it’s that close, but Danny is just way too fast and way too versatile for Jake to keep up with. Considering the potential energy of flooding half the country doesn’t put him far enough ahead of Danny to just tank everything, Jake is pretty much out of options to deal with him when he can’t get a hit in or cause any lasting damage. Jake’s time is Dragon Up, because the winner of this match will be Danny Phantom.
Yay
ReplyDeleteGreat prediction to do with you all, I had a blast deciding and I can not wait for the fight.
ReplyDeleteTotal blast to research and debate with y'all. The suspense for this episode is killing me
ReplyDeletethis is one of the matches i was most exited for when i first heard about death battle. now its a thing!!! i am very excited. i have more love for danny having watched a majority of it more than american dragon but jake was really cool. i however only remember enjoying the romance between jake and rose and cant remember much of the show lol. maybe i should rewatch american dragon and danny phantom after the episode comes out. it would certainly give me something to do during this stay at home situation
ReplyDeleteThis has to be the worst season of Death Battle ever. I will say this fight got animated well.
ReplyDeleteLet's face it, Anyone with prior knowledge of both shows knew that Jake didn't stand much of a chance, but good blog through.
