“The basic tool for the manipulation of reality is the manipulation of words. If you can control the meaning of words, you can control the people who must use those words,”
- Philp K. Dick

The antagonists are very important to the story told because of how they affect the events to be foretold as a whole. Villains play this role the most because of how they use their powers in order to achieve the goals they desired. There are many ways that the villain’s weapon is used from strength, speed, intelligence, and the list goes on. However, the most dangerous weapon of all is their wisdom. Experience gives the villain nearly unlimited power where even their words are weapons that even can control others. The villains who use their wisdom to gain use their mind and body to control and destroy anyone who dare challenges them:

Emperor Palpatine, Sith Lord, and supreme overlord of the Galactic Empire. Master Xehanort, leader of Organization XIII and Keyblade Darklord in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. The second most requested matchup prediction from the G1 Poll, behind Frieza Vs Megatron and final blog for the mid-season break, these two rulers are the ideal villains who master the definition of multiplication while also backing up in power. Using both brains and brawns at the same time to become the rulers they are known for today. The question in everyone’s mind is whether or not a Keyblade Master has what it takes to go against a mighty Sith Lord. Will the Emperor be able to execute a man with No-Heart, or will the Heartless man’s unlimited power be too much for the Supreme Chancellor to handle?

A Heads Up from Ya Bois

So there’s probably only one major thing we’d need to acknowledge before going in here, and that’s on Palpatine’s end. We know it’s been about five years now since Disney took the preexisting Star Wars continuity and made it its own thing while the Sequel Trilogy “kickstarted” an entirely new canon, but for the interest of making this fight actually close, we will be compositing both the Disney and Legends incarnations of Palpatine here.

(If we’re being honest, Papa Sheev gets murdered hard by Xehanort if we didn’t include Legends.)

To cover our ground here, this isn’t meant to be an assumption of what we think Death Battle will do for Palpatine or any other Star Wars characters for their fights.

Background

Emperor Palpatine

Before his rise to the power of the Dark Side, and before being the ruler of his mighty empire, Sheev Palpatine was born on Naboo. While his secrets around his youth are still a mystery, Sheev had no family from what the citizens of Naboo at least knew. His love for knowledge and subtleties of power brought him to the city of Theed to join the governed politics. One day during his time, he found his future master of the force, Darth Plagueis. Plagueis was very impressed with Palpatine skills where he made him his apprentice as a Sith: and Darth Sidious was born. Sidious would train hard in using the power of the force and expand his knowledge behind the history of the Siths, and worked together with Plagueis by the Sith’s Rule of Two Code. It was going fine until Sidious killed Plagueis so he could create an empire in his image.

Palpatine then put his plan into work over the years by being the Senator of Naboo for the Galactic Republic. Sidious then found Maul and made him his apprentice and staged the War of Naboo, until Maul got served by Kenboi and his invasion plan failed. But hey, Palpatine got to become the Supreme Chancellor for the Republic and became a father figure from Anakin Skywalker. He then developed and masterminded the creation of The Clone Wars, with his new apprentice, Count Dooku (Darth Tyanus). Sidious played both sides in the creation of the droid Separatist and his future army, the clones of the Republic. While Palpatine did have some events he succeeded in during The Clone Wars like fighting Darth Maul and his brother, it was not until the near end of the Clone Wars where his master plan was about to become real.

The Separtiaist launched a direct attack on Coruscant where he was “captured” and imprisoned by Dooku and General Grievous. Jedi Masters Obi-Wan and Anakin came to the rescue at the last minute and fought Dooku with Sidious watching the show. Obi-Wan was knocked out during the fight, but Anakin was able to over power and beat Dooku, but that was when Sidious made the ultimate move that would seal fate in Star Wars. To kill Dooku to make way for the future for his greatest apprentice, and Anakin beheads Dooku. After that Palptaine took his highest risk by exposing himself to Anakin to lead him to the dark side. It was the ultimate gamble for his life as the Jedi Council Masters led by Mace Mindu confronted him and nearly succeeded in stopping the Dark Lord for good. But, the Sith Lord had already won as he succeeded at the last minute in turning Anakin Skywalker to the Dark Side, birthing Darth Varder in the process. Sidious then made his ultimate move into one swing, executing order 66, the elimination of all Jedis.

The aftermath of the clone wars given the dream Palpatine has finally achieved, creating the Galactic Empire. Since then, he has ruled the galaxy with an iron fist with Darth Vader by his side, hunting down any remaining Jedi survivors and destroying anyone who gets in their way. Palpatine actions did cause conflict as the Galactic Civil War against the Rebel Alliance came to be and created powerful weapons to end his war. Such as making a moon that can easily destroy a planet, but has gotten mad that his moon was blown up and his apprentice failed. Palpatine discovered later on about Luke Skywalker, aware that the son of Vader would be a major threat to him in the future. Which was why he planned to end the rebellion once and for all by trying to turn Luke to the Dark Side the same way he did to Anakin. Following the Battle of Endor, Sidious allowed the Rebels to get where they were just to capture Luke and have him fight his father for the last time. Luke almost turned to the dark side, but remembered his father’s past and confronted Palpatine that he would never join him. Sidious nearly killed Luke since he had chosen the path of a Jedi, but then his demise happened as Varder sacrificed himself just to throw him into the core of the second death star, ending the Sith Lord and his long driven rule of the galaxy.

Until, Disney came along and, well... Let's just say that, No one's ever really gone.

Master Xehanort

Born on Destiny Islands, Xehanort was always a curious young man, edging his scientific discoveries of the Darkness inherent in all worlds. The world of Destiny Islands was just too small for him, and when being met with a future version of himself, he saw an oppurtunity to satisfy his curiosity. After some time-travel shenanigans, he came back from the future and started his Keyblade training under the Master of Masters, alongside his brother-in-arms Eraqus.

Eventually, Xehanort and Eraqus were granted the title of Keyblade Masters, and Xehanort swapped out his old keyblade for the fabled No Name, which was passed down to him presumably by Luxu, the Master of Master’s apprentice. After some time, Xehanort and Eraqus both grew old and began training three new Keyblade warriors - Terra and Aqua. Xehanort found another boy with the ability to summon the Keyblade, Ventus, and broke his heart in two halves - a light and a dark. Sometime later, Xehanort did battle with these three as they caught wind of his plan to reopen Kingdom Hearts with the χ-Blade, and in turn he took over the body of Terra. This would lead to the creation of what we know as Terranort. Also, he has amnesia now.

Studying under Ansem the Wise, Xehanort’s curiosity never truly fell, and he began to research darkness in secret. In turn, he transformed his body into two halves in an experiment - his Heartless, Ansem (Seeker Of Darkness), and his Nobody, Xemnas. After a new Keyblade wielder, Sora, defeated both his Heartless and Nobody, Xehanort was reborn as the old man we know and love. Then, he enacted a new plan to open Kingdom Hearts after his old one failed - he would use 13 darknesses and 7 lights, and together they would clash in the Keyblade Graveyard, awakening the χ-Blade and awakening Kingdom Hearts, all to satisfy his curiosity.

Equipment

Palpatine

Lightsabers

10 Facts You Didn't Know About Darth Sidious (The Emperor ...
Palpatine’s primary weapons in melee combat. The lightsaber uses a Kyber Crystal in it’s hilt to create a beam of energy that can slice through almost anything. Palpatine’s sabers in particular are special as they are cast from Phrik, a material so durable a holocron encased in it survived the destruction of Alderaan. He has displayed nothing short of complete mastery with the sabers, and has been shown to use both Double and Single bladed fighting styles.

Xehanort

No Name

File:No Name KHBBS.png
Passed down through the Master of Masters, this Keyblade is unique in that the eye at the top of it is… an actual eye. It functions just as any other keyblade does, with the ability to cast magical spells and seal any door. Xehanort, through the Mark of Mastery exam, has shown to be a master of using his No Name, thus giving him the title “Keyblade Master”.

For reference, Kairi’s heart(essence) was described as being left in pieces, with sora having to find them. This is similar to when Sora was split into “conceptual pieces” by Heartless earlier.

Keyblades also demonstrate this function by destroying the “existence of darkness”. That being the heartless, who are embodiments of the primordial darkness that at the beginning of creation. This is also consistent with it being the only thing that harms and kills nobodies, who are embodiments of the conceptual nothingness that exists alongside the Light and Darkness..

The Keyblade negates regeneration, because if a heartless is killed by anything beside the blade, they will return. They blade can also permanently kill the cursed crew in the Pirates world, completely overcoming their immortality given by the curse

All keyblades are exclusive to their owner, as they choose the wilder and are connected to their hearts The final main application they have is sealing, capable of opening and closing the “world heart”, the collective essence of a world.

χ-Blade

After the 13 darknesses and 7 lights clashed, Xehanort was able to awaken the power of the χ-Blade. This weapon is what originally stopped the age of fairy tales, and split the Kingdom Hearts multiverse into separate worlds that manifested as your favorite Disney films. This weapon also has unique teleportation abilities, as it seems to be able to open portals from any point in space to aid Xehanort in combat. It can also affect the light and darkness of an individual, to the point where they are either pure light or pure darkness.

Xehanort uses this weapon to control Kingdom Hearts, as it is linked with it. The weapon has “higher dimensional power”, and wielding it is said to give power beyond mortality. All other keyblades are merely inferior forgeries of it.

Keyblade Armour

This is Master Xehanort’s Keyblade Armour. While it doesn’t increase the user’s strength, durability and speed - it protects the user from possession. It also protects the user from the darkness as stated in Xehanort’s Report 2:

Xehanort's Report II: "Our Master instructed us to don armor while traveling between worlds, so that we might shield ourselves from the darkness. But there, in the Lanes Between, I could feel the force of it—the power—and from then on, I forwent my armor's "protection." I had been told the darkness would devour me, but what terrors could it possibly hold, so long as I found the strength to control it?".

Xehanort Armour

Functionally identical to his Keyblade Armor, Xehanort has specific armor he wears in KH3 in his fight against Sora. This should function the same as his Keyblade Armor, shielding him from darkness. It also has an appearance reminiscent of his first keyblade, No Name.

The Real Organization XIII

The Real Organization XIII are the thirteen darknesses Xehanort would use to bring out the χ-Blade by placing a piece of his heart in 12 vessels and having the 13 of them clash with 7 warriors of light. Imparting a piece of his heart into the members grants them his own abilities on top of their own and allowing them all to telepathically communicate, track each other across time and space, and meet up when necessary and possible.

Many of the members are Xehanort himself, while some others are either his creations, people he’s controlling, or people he recruited to his cause.

While it’s somewhat debatable as to whether Xehanort should be allowed them in a vs match, many of them are still Xehanort himself, they all have a piece of Master Xehanort’s heart in them, plus they can all access each other rather conveniently.

The KH3 ultimania explains why the members became part xehanort, and the reasons why Xion and Terra were able to return

Kingdom Hearts

Xehanort has tapped into the power of Kingdom Hearts through the χ-Blade enough times that it’s acceptable to give him in a vs debate, much like giving Eggman the Chaos Emeralds.

Kingdom Hearts’ power was responsible for the creation of the original world before the Keyblade War would cover the world in darkness and result in the shattering of Kingdom Hearts’ protector, the χ-Blade. The world was saved due to the light within the hearts of children, but the original world that once was, was scattered into multiple realms.

When Xehanort absorbs the power of Kingdom Hearts, his power increases to an extreme level beyond that of which the likes of any other Keyblade Master could handle.

Xehanort can also fill Kingdom Hearts with darkness in an attempt to destroy all worlds and return them to their very original state as one singular universe. Xehanort is implied to be able to survive this, so he can control those who would eventually rise to try and fill the world with darkness.

Abilities

Palpatine

The Force

The Force is a metaphysical, spiritual, bunding, and ubiquitous energy field throughout the universe that binds together all living things. Certain individuals are born with a higher awareness of the force, granting them the ability to manipulate it to perform a wide variety of abilities. Sidious has spent decades studying the dark side of the force and has collected a massive variety of Sith tomes, artifacts, and knowledge, and is often stated to be the strongest Sith Lord in galactic history.

Force Lightning

UNLIMITED… POWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

Palpatine’s trademark force technique. By tapping into the force, Palpatine is able to discharge electricity from his hands. This lightning’s power output can be adjusted by it’s wielder, from use in torture, frying the victim inside out, stunning an enemy, forming defensive barriers, or disabling starships.

Telekinesis

One of the common abilities granted by the force is Telekinesis, enabling the user to manipulate the physical environment around them, such as throwing around objects, disarming their opponent, and combining it with his lightning to create Lightning Grenades. There are many different ways Telekinesis can be utilized:

  • Force Crush: This Force Ability allows the user to crush the inside of an enemy, crippling them. While Jedi only use this ability against non-organic lifeforms, the Sith have no such restriction.
  • Force Throw: This feat was used mostly in Legends - it allows a Jedi or Sith to throw their Lightsaber and then have it come back to their hand.
  • Force Push: This is a weaker version of Force Shove and like Force Shove Allows the user to push an object or an opponent away from them.
  • Force Shove: Using this ability a Jedi or a Sith can throw an enemy away from them, creating distance.
  • Force Repulse: The user uses the force in order to create a gigantic telekinetic explosion around them.
  • Force Maelstrom: Forms a bubble around the wielder, picking up any loose objects - and people - before exploding outwards in a telekinetic blast.
  • Force Flight: This power allowed the user to move themselves with The Force. This manifests as being able hover above the ground and slowing their descent.
  • Force Combustion: An advanced telekinetic ability that allowed the destruction of objects by sheer will.

Force Choke

A version of Force Grip unique to Dark Siders, it enables Palpatine to telekinetically strangle his victims. While often used to display displeasure or anger, it has no problems killing the victim outright.

Force Senses

A universal ability shared by most, if not all force users. It has a multitude of uses, ranging from sensing another person’s feelings, ripples in the force caused by devastating events such as the destruction of Alderaan, and perhaps most importantly, grants precognition, similar to the Spider-Sense, that warns the user about incoming danger. Lastly, it also grants heightened hearing and sight via Force Sight and Listening.

Telepathy

A very basic force ability allowing the user to read minds and mentally communicate with others. It also allows them to fight off an opponent's telepathy themselves via Thought Shield. Palpatine is capable of inducing fear and aggression into his enemies, send visions to others, and can erase memories.

Force Visions

A rare, but powerful aspect of the force that enables the user to see into the distant future. Palpatine is perhaps the most vision prone Sith in history, and used his visionary gifts to ensure his own election as Supreme Chancellor, and his ascension as Galactic Emperor.

Mind Trick

Mind Tricks generally refer to a wide spectrum of force powers based around influencing the mind. There are a few variants of mind trick:
  • Mind Control: Whereas Jedi often use mind tricks to persuade others, Sith can take it further by directly controlling their targets mind. Luke once described Palpatine’s voice as having a very hypnotic lull to it whenever he was projecting his dark side powers.
  • Force Corruption: Sometimes shortened to Force Corrupt, it’s dark-side ability that could temporarily manipulate the minds of other sentient beings and make them serve one's own cause.
  • Beast Control: The user controls surrounding creatures. While Palpatine has only shown to use this ability sparingly, nothing suggests he can’t use it on stronger creatures.

Battle Meditation

A technique used by both Jedi and Sith, it allows the user to boost the morale of friendly soldiers while lowering the enemies. Palpatine often uses this to direct his imperial armies.

Tutaminis

An ability shared between the Jedi and Sith, Tutaminis can either absorb and disperse incoming energy attacks, or redirect it, as shown in Yoda’s battle against Count Dooku.

Midichlorian Manipulation

This power grants Palpatine the ability to command Midichlorians, microscopic life forms that exist in all living cells, for use in healing, resurrection, and creating life. In fact, tinkering with Midichlorians accidentally led to the conception of Anakin Skywalker, his future apprentice.

Dark Side Burst

A Dark Side Burst is a sudden release of Force energies upon a powerful dark sider's death. This was the energy that was shown after Darth Vader threw him down the Death Star shaft in Return of the Jedi.

Alter Environment

Alter Environment allows a Force sensitive to influence the weather and temperatures. Palpatine has used this to control flames and heat up the surrounding environment.

Immovability

While no specific name exists for this power, Jedi and Sith can render themselves immovable with the force. Palpatine has used this to shield himself from strong winds while training maul.

Force Heal

An ability which allows the user to heal another by regenerating their tissue, reduce pain, and cure afflictions. Sidious used this to aid Vader in healing damages wrought by his very painful reconstructive surgery.

Detoxify Poison

A simple power that allows a Force Sensitive to purge foreign chemicals from their bodies, such as deadly poisons. Sidious has used this to survive assassination attempts and remain sober no matter how much he drinks.

Force Speed

As the name suggests, this force ability greatly increases the users speed. Despite his frail stature, Palpatine is a master in this technique, moving at blinding speeds against even the greatest lightsaber duelists of his time

Force Rage

A dark side force power where Palpatine taps into his innermost fears, pain and hate, and converts them into an intense rage, which can then be channeled into increased speed, strength, and ferocity in battle. While Jedi can use this ability at great risk of turning to the dark side, a sith like Palpatine can use the ability with no such issue.

Force Stealth

Force Stealth was a power that was used by highly skilled Force-sensitives to mask their Force alignment (Light or Dark), their ability to use the Force, or even their entire presence from other Force-sensitives. Palpatine used this to hide his Dark Side presence for years, right under the Jedi’s noses.

Sith Alchemy

Darth Plagueis was already a master of this art, something that he passed down to his apprentice. It allows the practitioner to permanently alter an object or person, without needing to sacrifice an arm, leg, and sibling, and is rejected by the Jedi as an act of treason against the Force’s will.

Bruh this is literally human transmutation holy shi-

Palpatine wrote a book on this subject called The Creation of Monsters, and is responsible for making creatures such as Chrysalides, Shadow Droids, and has claimed Vader’s reconstruction was partially alchemical. Other applications include using it as a mask to hide his deformities, which is one of the ways he hid in plain sight during the Clone Wars, and Mechu-Deru, which allows him to control machinery, such as his Shadow Droids.

Sith Magic

Palpatine is knowledgeable in sith magic. He can use it to increase force sensitivity in his allies, implant dreams into his opponents, and has imbued the planet Byss with enough energy to become a nexus in the Dark Side. Other uses include:
  • Force Storm: (not to be confused with a later ability of the same name) He can channel the force to create storms and alter weather patterns.
  • Force Fear: Sidious can use rituals to induce fear and aggression into others.
  • Invoke Spirits: Through conjuring, Sidious can summon the spirit of a deceased darksider, often ancient Sith Lords, usually to augment him with the deceased's power.
  • Dark Side Tendrils: Pure manifestations of malevolent Force energy summoned through Sith magic. When conjured by a seasoned Sith sorcerer, dark side tendrils were able to instantly annihilate any kind of matter they contacted. While Palpatine has not used this ability himself, given his vast wealth of Sith knowledge and massive collection of Sith artifacts, books, and holocrons, it’s very likely he knows the ability.

Force Blast

An ability where the conjurer fires a pure blast of concentrated Dark Side energies that can obliterate the target. Sometimes the user would suffer burns to their flesh, but feel no pain.

Force Drain

Drain refers to a spectrum of powers that usually manifest as draining the vitality of a victim. It can be variable in it’s affected area; while it can be used in a simple 1v1, ancient sith lords who mastered the technique such as Darth Nihilus and Tulak Hord have been known to be able to drain entire worlds. Palpatine is one such master, as he used the technique to slowly drain the inhabitants of Byss.

Force Storm

Easily Palpatine’s most deadly ability. Force Storm was a volatile Force ability from the Dark Side capable of creating hyperspace wormholes that were able to displace objects across vast distances. Storms were a pure manifestation of hatred and capable of violently disrupting the space time-continuum. Force Storms are incredibly difficult to control once unleashed and required mastery in many different Force disciplines, such as the ability Instinctive Astrogation. It has a massive area of effect, able to swallow a 17km long Eclipse class dreadnought, entire fleets of warships, and devastate whole worlds.

Transfer Essence

If Palpatine is ever killed, he is able to transfer his consciousness into another body, sometimes even an inanimate object. Ancient Sith Lords used this technique to cheat death countless times, and Sidious can use spare clone bodies to effectively achieve immortality. This ability even lets him hijack the bodies of his enemies, hollowing them out until they’re a tortured husk, and make the body his own. He can even use a similar technique on others, as he did to the engineer Bevel Lemelisk numerous times.

Other Force Powers

It is stated in the Dark Empire sourcebook that Palpatine has mastered nearly all known force powers, previously unknown powers, and devises new powers at his pleasure. Note however, that Palpatine has not been shown to use these powers, so this statement may or may not be accurate.

There are many different aspects of the force:

Control

The theme of Control was centered on the ability to control one's own body, as self control was the starting point for all Jedi teachings. There are three main abilities focused around these abilities: tutaminis, curato salva, and altus sopor. These three blanket abilities encompassed the following abilities:
  • Alchaka: An extremely personal ritual performed during meditation. Consisting of a high number of repetitions performed in complex positions and dizzying movements spaced between the positions, the purpose of the Alchaka technique was to clear the mind and attune the body to the strength of the Force.
  • Art of Movement: A higher form of movement developed for use by the Jedi Order. It’s taught by completing an obstacle course to increase a young padawans ability to improve bodily performance
  • Breath control: Using the Force power breath control, the user could literally numb the body's instinct to shut itself down after long periods without oxygen, allowing the user to be able to go without breathing for longer periods than he or she ordinarily could.
  • Center of Being: A stance used in lightsaber combat. It could also be used for meditation. The meditative stance would find use in combination with more passive and defensive forms. One who fell deeply into this style could almost unconsciously defend from even the most flowing random attacks and feints.
  • Control Pain: A Force power that could be used to reduce the pain suffered as a result of injury or of other reason.
  • Enhance Attribute: A Force power that allowed a Force-user to increase a physical attribute for a limited time, allowing them to jump higher, move and react faster, see better, and other such abilities.
  • Flashburn: A term used by the Jedi Order to describe the reaction in which certain Jedi or Force-sensitives shutdown areas of their minds in reaction to emotional trauma.
  • Force Body: A type of Force technique which allows any Force-sensitive to push their body's endurance past a safe limit, ignoring and sacrificing their health and well-being in order to sustain their connection to the Force. Very powerful connection to the Force was required for this ability's use.
  • Force Enlightenment: A passive/supplementary light side Force power. When activated, this power took the Force powers a Jedi was most skilled in, pushing them to the highest degree that the Jedi had previously mastered during his or her routine training.
  • Force Valor: A light side Force power that increased the resolve, accuracy, and speed of one's self and one's allies. Tapping into the Force, a Jedi could increase the rate at which one's capacities functioned, allowing the body to move more quickly, strike more powerfully, and fight with improved accuracy.
  • Hibernation trance: An ability that allowed Force-users to go into a very deep hibernation state.
  • Morichro: A powerful, but potentially dangerous technique of the Force which could slow down the body functions of another being into mild catatonia or long-term suspended animation.
  • Tapas: A Force technique that allowed its user to draw on the power of the Force to remain warm in a cold environment.
  • Cloak of Shadow: Also known as Force Cloak, it is a rarely seen Force talent involving the manipulation of light and sound waves to render a practitioner virtually invisible to the naked eye.

Sense

Abilities classified under Sense were taught to young Padawans to broaden the scope of their Control abilities. Sense abilities allowed Force-wielders to immerse themselves in the environment. Sense abilities divided into four main groups: prima vitae, tactus otium, tai vordrax/psychometry, and projected telepathy. The following are considered the most vital to these teachings:
  • Flow-walking: A rare Force power used by the Aing-Tii monks, allowing the user to view the past and the future. When one used flow-walking, they could alter the past, and thereby change the course of the future. This power was used with great caution but had very few limitations on it.
  • Force Smell: A Force power that allowed the user to augment their sense of smell.
  • Force Meld: Otherwise known as Jedi meld or Battle meld, it’s a technique where a number of Force users joined their minds together through the Force, drawing strength from each other.
  • Shatterpoint: A complex Force phenomenon, perceivable only by an unknown innate talent or immense focus and concentration on the part of the Force user. It can be used to find weak points in an enemy, such as a fault in their fighting style, or weaknesses in an object that can be exploited, like a small crack in a material or a scar on a teenager’s forehead.
  • Psychometry: Also known as postcognition or telemetry, this Force power was a mental technique of picking up impressions and traces of information about the object touched and the events that have surrounded it.
  • Force empathy: A Force power related to Force sense, but involved picking up impressions of an individual's feelings and general emotional state.
  • Farsight: Also called clairvoyance, far sight or farseeing, Farsight was the ability to gain vague impressions of events happening in other places or times using the Force. These visions focused on strong imagery and emotions.
  • Comprehend Speech: A telepathic ability that allows the user to understand any spoken language.
  • Shadow Vision: A Force power that was formulated by the Disciples of Twilight. Users of the ability could use the Force to gain low-light vision, allowing them to ignore the concealment (but not total concealment) of darkness. It has only a short duration.

Alter

Alter is the third and final aspect to master. While prone to disaster at first, those who can master it can affect the world around them with ease. Telekinesis, Affect Mind, and Alter Environment make up this family of abilities:

  • Alter Damage: A Force technique used by the Jedi Order to change the damage their lightsaber inflicted upon a target.
  • Alter Image: A Force power developed by Dark Jedi Hyobu Sulloran which allowed the user to alter his or her own personal features
  • Cleanse Mind: A crucial Force power that was employed by Jedi Consulars of the Jedi Order. It allowed a member of the Jedi Consulars to negate an on-going mind-affecting Force power from themselves or an ally within their line of sight.
  • Conceal Other: A subset of Force Illusion that allowed the practitioner to conceal another.
  • Crucitorn: A Jedi technique for transcending physical pain beyond normal thresholds. It can change one’s interpretation of pain, either increasing how painful the injury feels or dampening it.
  • Cryokinesis: A Force power that allowed a Force-user to draw heat away from the object, causing its temperature to drop rapidly.
  • Dark transfer: An extremely rare Force power that allowed the user to bring others back to life from the brink of death
  • Dark Side Tendrils: Pure manifestations of malevolent Force energy summoned through Sith magic. When conjured by a seasoned Sith sorcerer, dark side tendrils were able to instantly annihilate any kind of matter they contacted.
  • Deadly Sight: A power of the dark side of the Force, focusing the user's hatred into deadly energy.
  • Dopplegänger: An advanced Force power that allowed a user to create a short-lived duplicate of him- or herself or an external object that was visually distinguishable from the real item through the Force.
  • Drain Knowledge: A telepathic, dark side ability used to extract knowledge out of a sentient without his or her consent.
  • Droid Disable: Also known as Ionize and Mechu Macture,it was developed during the Old Sith Wars that allowed a Jedi to overload and damage electronic systems, such as droids.
  • Electric Judgment: Also known as Emerald Lightning, was a Force technique used by the Jedi to spray electric bolts of variable intensity from the hands and fingers.
  • Fold Space: A Force power that allowed a Force-user to bend space to instantly transport an object between places.
  • Force Bellow: A power in which the user would amplify their voice using the Force.
  • Force Blinding: A telekinetic light side Force power. Upon use of this technique, a blinding flash of energy emanated from a user's hand, manifesting as a flash of light that overloaded a target's vision, causing temporary blindness.
  • Force Burst: A sphere of concentrated Force energy shot at or sent after a target at the utmost accuracy and speed.
  • Force Confusion: Among the more advanced mind trick techniques, Force confusion could be used in combat to temporarily manipulate enemies to fight as an ally. It was especially useful when outnumbered, and was quicker to employ than affect mind in the heat of battle.
  • Force Destruction: A dark side Force power used by Sith and Dark Jedi, allowing them to create a massive energy field and throw it in any direction, usually fired through the arm or hand. It could blast a large radius vaporizing anyone who got too close to it. Even those who escaped direct contact with the blast would be pushed asunder by the power's backlash.
  • Force Horror: A more advanced version of Force Fear, it enabled the Force user to cause multiple enemies to enter into a catatonic state of panic that was more severe and more difficult to defend than the basic Force fear.
  • Force Insanity: Similarly, Force Insanity also enabled the Force user to affect multiple enemies at once, although to an even greater range than its predecessor. As the most advanced form of Force fear, its effect was much more devastating, with the victims possibly descending into an utter state of frenzied madness and deranged mania as their situation seemed to suddenly become hopeless.
  • Force-flash: A Force power employed when the person using it did not want to be seen. Related to Droid Disable, the user could temporarily disable a security holocam, causing a brief period of static, allowing the user to pass while only alerting security to a minor holocam malfunction.
  • Force Illusion: A very powerful Force ability, a subset of the various mind trick powers. The user projected an image into the minds of beings within range, of anything from a pillar of fire to a horde of snarling monsters to a fleet of warships, depending on the range. The user could "see" the illusion as well, though it would be only partially there, semi-transparent like a hologram.
  • Force Immersion: A specialized technique developed by the Fallanassi, by which a skilled user could immerse themselves in the White Current, rendering themselves undetectable by any means, organic, or artificial.
  • Force Light: A light side Force power used by the Jedi. When used against a darksider, Force light would weaken the darksider's connection to the Force.
  • Wall of Light: An immense manifestation of potentially destructive light side Force energy created by the focused power of a united Jedi front. When performed successfully, a wall of light allowed participants to effectively contain or purge the power of the dark side from a specific location, or sever an especially dangerous darksider from their Force connection.
  • Force Orb: A Force power which served as an attack. Through the manifestation of the force an Orb was created of pure Force energy that obstructed the surrounding environment. Under normal circumstances, it only worked underwater.
  • Force Persuasion: A use of the Force to exert influence. Some species with highly organized mental facilities were known to be inherently resistant to its effects, requiring more skill to utilize.
  • Force Projection: A mysterious Force ability and was possibly a variation of Force illusion. It enabled the user to create and "program" an apparition similar to themselves to distract, confuse or lure enemies.
  • Force Scream: A Force scream was an involuntary Force exertion manifested by those whose alignment was with the dark side of the Force. It was a scream, of strong frustration, rage, or grief, emitted through the Force to attack enemies.
  • Force Scribe: An upper tier Fallanassi technique that utilized the White Current to inscribe words on objects.
  • Force Stun: A Force power that could temporarily deaden the senses and perceptions of a targeted enemy.
  • Force Stasis: A more advanced version of Stun that can induce a near-catatonic state and in effect freezing that person or being in place. This power was very useful when the Force-user was stuck in tight spots against a superior number of foes.
  • Force Stasis Field: The highest level of Force Stun. Often learned and practiced by higher-level Jedi Knights and Masters, this power allowed the Force-user to put multiple enemies into brief, non-harmful catatonic states at one time, allowing for quick escapes or to avoid protracted confrontations against seemingly overwhelming numbers.
  • Force Slow: A dark side Force power used by Sith and Dark Jedi. This power clouded the target's mind, causing them to slow down both mentally and physically.
  • Force Affliction: A variant of Force Slow. Affliction worked much like a fast-acting poison, quickly debilitating the target. The effects of affliction worsened over time and may cause death if the user is strong enough in the Force.
  • Force Plague: A more powerful version of Force Affliction. Plague worked like a fast-acting toxin, horribly debilitating its victims. The effects of Plague continued to worsen over time.
  • Force Subjugate: A Force power that enabled the user to inflict damage upon the mind and psyche of an opponent.
  • Force Suppression: A controversial mind-affecting Force power that was employed by crafty Force-sensitives. It allowed a Force-sensitive to harness the Force in order to convince others that they had been cut off from the Force itself.
  • Force Breach: A name for the mastery of Force Suppression. It’s also the name of a Force Power used in the Old Sith Wars to refer to the ability to deal catastrophic damage against targets by rupturing their shatterpoints.
  • Force Travel: A Force power which allowed a being to travel great distances instantly by creating a momentary rift in space. This power caused the user to be corrupted by the dark side, as it broke the normal rules of the galaxy by ripping the Force asunder. The technique became more corrupting to use depending both on how far away the target was, as well as how familiar the Force-user was with the location.
  • Force Wave: Similar to Force Repulse, it sends out shockwaves to kill enemies. Examples include Mace Windu at the Battle of Dantooine and Darth Vader as an ability in the game Star Wars: Empire at War
  • Force Weapon: A Force ability that allowed the user to imbue an unpowered weapon with the Force for a period of time.
  • Force Wind: An ancient Sith technique, this power would allow the Force user to manipulate and channel air currents to form a powerful and destructive tornado that could lift up targets and fling them about.
  • Force Whirlwind: A more advanced form of Force Push, but a weaker version of Force Wave. The user would alter the air currents around an opponent, turning it into a maelstrom, allowing them to attack without resistance.
  • Pyrokinesis: A Force power that allowed a Force-user to manipulate and generate fire by rubbing and heating up air molecules together.
  • Force Wound: This power allowed a Force user to telekinetically apply pressure to their opponent's organs or body. If not resisted, it could crush the victim's heart or lungs.
  • Force Kill: This power was used to telekinetically destroy the victim's organs, such as causing heart attacks and freezing lungs.
  • Kinetite: A variation on the Force lightning ability. It involved molding "Force energized lightning" into a sphere of restrained kinetic energy which could be thrown at an enemy.
  • Levitation: A simple ability that allows the user to hover in place.
  • Malacia: A Force technique that was used to induce a powerful dizziness and nausea in enemies by turning their equilibrium against them. It was completely incapacitating, but caused no damage to the body.
  • Mind Shard: A Force power that allowed a Force-user to mentally splinter an opponent's mind, wracking the victim with pain.
  • Protection bubble: The user could create a defensive sphere around their body. It could protect the user from a wide range of attacks, deflect laser blasts, defend against lightsabers, vacuums and even inflict certain amounts of damage upon contact with the enemy.
  • Plant Surge: A light side Force power that was based around drawing on the Force and channeling of life energy into plants.
  • Revelation: A Force power that was formulated by the Disciples of Twilight. Users of the ability could locate their enemies, through the enemy being silhouetted by a faint shimmering light that belied their location.
  • Revitalize: A light side Force technique that revitalized an exhausted, wounded or, unconscious user, or whoever the user directed it at. Being a Force-based power, it did not work on non-organics such as droids.
  • Sever Force: A non-lethal Force power by which a being's connection to the Force was interrupted, or blocked from them with a wall of light side energy. According to the ancient Jedi scholar Odan-Urr, severing an individual's Force connection was the most powerful attack a Jedi could perform.
  • Spear of Midnight Black: A dark side Force power. It enabled the Force-user to summon energy from the Force, usually solely from the dark side, and forge an imperceivable melee weapon in the form of a spear.
  • Teleportation: An Ee mental power, and part of the physical skills category. Ee adept in this power could teleport objects weighing a kilogram or less, and could also teleport themselves.
  • Torture by Chagrin: Also known as Memory Walk, it’s a Force ability that consisted of mentally reaching into the victim's mind, forcing them to relive all the worst memories of their life, both painful ones and ones that were merely embarrassing, over and over and over again to the point where it seems to cause physical pain.
  • Shadowstrike: A Ta-Ree spell capable of being wielded by Ascendants on the planet Kathol. The spell allowed the caster to land blows on a target individual without physically touching them. Unless the target was Force-sensitive, the individual could not dodge the blows.

Force Nexus

Due to his repeated resurrection, and exposure to the dark side, Palpatine has become a living dark side nexus. His sheer presence on the planet Byss turned it into a well of dark side energy, and convinced Luke it was the dark center of the universe. Sidious corrupts everything around him, with his ship noted to cause “oppression” more so than anything Leia had experienced prior. Sidious notes that he had become pure energy in flesh, which is similar to what Vitiate became from his rituals and what Exar Kun attempted to achieve.

Xehanort

Heart

A Heart is one of the three parts which comprise a being in the Kingdom Hearts universe, the other two being body and soul. The heart is the essence of the being. The destruction of the body and soul will not kill a being, as the verse lacks a “proper concept of death”, and instead the being will return as a heartless or nobody. Only the complete destruction of a heart will definitely kill someone. A shattered heart can potentially restore itself, as shown with Sora

Darkness

“All worlds begin in darkness, and all so end. The heart is no different. Darkness sprouts within it, it grows, consumes it. Such is its nature. In the end, every Heart returns to the darkness whence it came! You see, darkness is the Heart's true essence…”

Darkness is half of what makes everything. Darkness creates and feeds off of primal emotions such as revenge, hate, greed, and fear. In the process, it makes those it affects experience and exhibits these feelings while constantly making those feelings stronger, eventually leading to the affected becoming a Heartless and (rarely) a Nobody. If one relies too heavily on the powers darkness gives them, it will swallow their hearts in a matter of time as Riku almost lost his heart from using Corridors of Darkness frequently.

Xehanort has not only made darkness his own, it's heavily implied he has become a being of pure darkness.

Darkness can be used to travel between realms, or banish beings into the realm of darkness. The realm of darkness is a realm that breaks down matter, and is divorced from the flow of time. Using darkness, xehanort is able to send the souls and hearts of others (this example being terra) to a void beyond both light and darkness. Nothing exists here, leaving the target alone forever.

Light

With the χ-Blade, Xehanort can begin to control and manipulate light as he pleases, since Kingdom Hearts is the source of all light throughout the worlds. He can even rip the light out of a person if he pleases, which can seriously hurt their chances at beating him since light is often a necessity to harm a user of darkness.

Time Space Portal

By the time of Kingdom Hearts 3, Xehanort’s repeated use of time travel has turned him into a living space-time portal, with Riku saying he “transcends space and time”. Nomura explains what this actually means, that Master Xehanort is immune to time stops now, and young Xehanort his time controlling abilities.
These abilities include:

He also gains the ability to time travel. By discarding his physical form (i.e. travelling as a heart), Xehanort can travel to any point in the past he has lived through himself. And, reminder, he’s really fucking old.

In short bursts Xehanort can also use Time Reversal Magic to reverse time a few seconds backward without the need to charge up. If Xehanort wants to take it further back into the past, like the beginning of the fight itself, he needs to charge up the ability for a small duration, but leaves himself vulnerable in the process. The spell at that point however can only be broken by some specific means a la keyblade and reality shifting.

Regeneration

Besides the ability to regenerate as a heartless over time (given to him by absorbing Ansem the heartless) and healing spells, Xehanort has one other option to restore himself. In Kingdom Hearts 3, he absorbs Vanitas’ into himself (alongside the remnants of the organization via his proxies). Vanitas himself was able to return back into physical form despite the complete destruction of his heart (essence), soul, and body. This new form is described as being his thoughts made flesh, which is stronger than his prior state. Terra was able to do a similar thing, albeit less impressive, by manifesting his thoughts into his armor despite xehanort taking his body and sending his Heart into a distant void. The Vanitas Remnant is canon, as Nomura explicitly stated only No heart and Armor of the Master were the only non canon optional bosses in BBS. Furthermore, Vanitas Remnant is required to fight before you can fight young Xehanort, who was stated to be a canon fight by Nomura in the previous comment.

Considering Xehanort possesses this ability, he should be able to regenerate in this state as well if need be. Maleficent could also achieve this, to a lesser degree.

Control over Laws

Power of Waking

An extremely rare ability meant to awaken sleeping worlds and travel to them via Hearts. The ability, however, can be used to rewrite entire timelines, undoing death. The result leaves tears in time.

Xehanort is fully knowledgeable on the ability, with Terranort practically confirming he has the ability. He chooses not to use it, as overusing the ability can lead to forced removal from the universe/multiverse.

Yen Sid corroborates Keyblade Masters knowing the Power of Waking, as he basically says Riku knows it by the end of DDD. Also his name spelled backwards is Dis

Various Spells

Just like any other Kingdom Hearts character, Xehanort can use his Keyblade to use devastating elemental magic attacks. It’s worth noting that, the higher the spell skill (i.e. -ra, -ga, -za) the higher the toll on the caster’s body is. These include:

Fire Magic

Xehanort can manipulate the magical element of Fire in order to create large flaming pillars that can be used to shatter the buildings around Xehanort. He is also shown to be capable of casting Firaza which creates a huge surge of fire to be released from his Keyblade, but can be condensed to a single shot of fire or even a circle of fire surrounding him. He can also use Dark Firaga which is a combination of his Darkness/Fire Abilities. Unlike many of the other magic spell types, Xehanort has so many of this type that could be considered his best one.

Ice Magic

Xehanort can manipulate the element of ice in various ways as he is shown capable of completely freezing anything as shown when he froze Ventus. He is also shown capable of casting which creates an icy field around him to freeze his opponents solid, and should be able to use the tracks it makes to glide across like a graceful dancer. The best of these ice spells that he can use is Ultima Freeze, which can incapacitate opponents by freezing them as well as damaging them.

Electric Magic

Xehanort can manipulate the element of Thunder to summon Thunderbolts in the sky. Normally he uses Thunder Magic through the use of Thundaza which causes an area of effect spell that brings down lightning on his opponent, but can be condensed to a singular bolt. He is also able to combine his darkness magic and electric magic to cast Dark Thundaga which calls down a strike of dark lightning on his target. The best electric spell he can use is Thundaga, which has the chance of paralyzing his opponent as well as dealing damage.

Earth Magic

Xehanort is capable of manipulating the ground around him through Earth Magic. Xehanort is capable of creating of raising large pillars of earth in order to stop Terra from attacking. He can also use the spell known as Quake to make the earth erupt below his opponent - which launches them into the air.

Wind Magic

As shown during Xehanort’s fight against Ventus, Terra and Aqua - Xehanort is capable of manipulating the weather and creating wind tornadoes in order to lift hundreds of keyblades into the air. He should also be capable of using Aero Spells (due to his mastery of the other elemental spells)which creates a wind shield around the user. One of these wind spells includes Whirlwind, which can somehow shift the player’s command deck implying it manipulates metaphysics to some degree.

Time Stop Magic

Xehanort is shown to be capable of manipulating time through the use of Stopza. With this spell, Xehanort can cast a spell that stops time for everyone within his current vicinity: it does have a limit, however, and that is the area it affects. Anything outside of this area will not be stopped, and thus is free to counterattack afterwards.

Telekinesis

Telepathy

Xehanort is capable of telepathically communicating with other people as shown with him contacting Terra. It is unknown if he can telepathically read into other people’s minds.

Teleportation

Using his inherent connection to the darkness within his heart, Xehanort is able to teleport anywhere and anytime he wants using Dark Portals. He can also bring people and objects with him when he travels, though that seems to be the limit of the portal’s capacity. He and his other versions can also teleport short distances without portals.

Other

  • Doom: One of Xehanort’s most dangerous spells, this attack will have a time limit. Basically once the user casts it on an opponent they have a set time before the number runs out - automatically killing him.
  • Collision Magnet:  A spell that uses energy to ensnare opponents and pull them in for attacks or whip them around.
  • Renewal Barrier: Xehanort can release a barrier that actually heals him when an opponent attacks him while using it.
  • Vanish: This spell makes Xehanort turn completely invisible for some amount of time.
  • Meteor: Eat your heart out Sephiroth. Basically summons a giant meteor down at his opponent
  • Sonic Attack: An attack that focuses on blitzing the opponent with charging faster than Xehanort is normally capable of, a la Quick Attack in Pokemon.
  • Whip Wave: Young Xehanort strikes Riku three times in rapid succession with his Keyblade
  • Sealing via luxord: Can seal an opponent in a large card
  • Spatial manipulation via Xigbar: Can teleport and alter the terrain, alongside making portals.
  • Light Manipulation via Xion: Xion can use light in combat
  • Lightning manipulation via Larxene: She can control electricity
  • AOE Lasers via Xemnas: This infamous move
  • Berserk mode via Siax: Saix can increase his power by going berserk
  • Power null via Marluxia: Marluxia can remove Sora’s cards, which are his abilities in Chain of Memories
  • Can summon more heartless, nobodies, and unversed, via young xehanort, ansem, vanitas, riku replica, and xemnas.
  • Sleep Manipulation, Dream Manipulation, Statistics Reduction, and Power Nullification
  • Paralysis Inducement via bind
  • Mind Manipulation, and Confusion (Can confuse enemies with Confuse)
  • Size Manipulation (Minimizes enemies with Mini)
  • Information Analysis (Via Scan which allows him to view his opponents Health)
  • Can manipulate locations like dr.strange
  • Can create pocket dimensions
  • Existence Erasure via warp spell
  • Resistance to mind hax, and existence erasure: can remain in the realm of darkness without armor. Realm of darkness corrupts and destroys the minds of those who remain in it, yet xehanort is unaffected. Can take numerous hits from keyblades which destroy essence, and is unaffected by the existence erasure of heartless or the realm of darkness.

Creation

Proxy/Xehanort Replica Creation

These Xehanort copies are made from the pieces of Xehanort’s heart that went into the Real Organization XIII, after they were all defeated. They each carry the abilities, keyblades, and combat styles of each of the Real Organization XIII members.

Heartless Summoning

Nobody Summoning

The body and soul, without the heart, seeking out those who have hearts and attacking them out of longing to be complete. Nobodies are embodiments of nothingness, having nonexistent physiology.  Normally they are intangible, but keyblade wielders can attack them.

Unversed Summoning

The most dangerous unversed is the Mimic Master, which can create copies of the opponent, including exclusive abilities such as the keyblade, which is tied to one's essence.

Opponent Cloning

Using the darkness in someone’s heart, Xehanort can create a perfect clone of them, willing to do his bidding. He’s done this to Ventus to create Vanitas.

Weaknesses

Palpatine

Palpatine may be one manipulative bastard, but that isn’t to say he’s completely sane. He’ll find himself on power highs leading to forgetfulness, or being too confident in his own abilities aka being extremely arrogant - both of his two deaths in series canon were in-part of his own arrogance and his tendency to underestimate those around him (as shown with Luke,Darth Vader and Rey). Also, when it comes to his Force Powers - he has a bad habit of hurting himself with his own powers as shown with his fight against Mace Windu where his lighting burned him and ultimately killing himself when Rey reflected his lightning back at him. In terms of other abilities - Force Storm and Force Blasts are also very volatile, and can just as easily injure Palpatine as it can his enemies.

Xehanort

He was defeated by the power of friendship.

Xehanort like his opponent is arrogant to a fault and doesn’t care about the lives of the other Organization 13 Members which led to a few members ultimately betraying him and contributing in some ways to his downfall (“cough” Demyx aka the MVP of Kingdom Hearts “cough”). Also while his time travelling abilities are impressive - he needs to give up his physical body in order to do so.

Summary

Emperor Palpatine

Advantages:
  • Possibly more experienced
  • Likely smarter
  • Wields greater mind manipulation that could help in getting him the win
  • Matter manipulation is something Xehanort does not resist
  • UNLIMITED POWER
  • Ian McDiarmid
  • Was the best part of Rise of Skywalker

Disadvantages:
  • Outmatched in the stat trinity
  • Has far less hax
  • Vastly outnumbered the moment cloning and summoning comes into play, by 64 Xehanorts, 10,000 fodder enemies, and 1 copy of himself
  • No resistance to time manipulation
  • Has no way of destroying Xehanort’s heart
  • Cannot possess Xehanort
  • Is vulnerable to a good chunk of abilities the χ-Blade grants Xehanort
  • Was in Rise of Skywalker
  • Did not manage to kill a Mark Hamill character
  • Is likely somehow already part Xehanort

Master Xehanort

Advantages:
  • Holds the edge in the stat trinity
  • Extreme amounts of cloning and summoning give him access to basically an army of 64 of himself, plus 10,000 Heartless/Unversed/Nobodies, plus 1 copy of Palpatine himself
  • Has much more hax
  • Has time dilation/stop
  • His Keyblade Armor is resistant to possession
  • Palpatine has no way to destroy his heart, making it difficult to permanently kill him
  • χ-Blade grants him many abilities that Palpatine doesn’t resist, such as reality warping, spatial manipulation, sealing, etc.
  • χ-Blade
  • Managed to kill a Mark Hamill character
  • Was voiced by Spock

Disadvantages:
  • Possibly less experienced
  • Vulnerable to Palpatine’s mind manipulation
  • Can’t resist Palpatine's matter manipulation
  • Has not canonically fucked and never will due to being dead

Verdicts

(Created By RedRunner)

Malcolm Belmont

While i haven’t been involved in the discussion relating to this matchup as much as most people, i thought - why not give my own thoughts and opinions on it - mostly due to the fact that i am a huge fan of both Star Wars and Kingdom Hearts. If I am being honest with myself - this is definitely my most wanted DEATH BATTLE Matchups considering how thematic it is and how it would make for an amazing animation. Anyway, onto the main part of this verdict - who do I think would win this bout.

In order to determine that, let’s go over the stat trinity to see who edges out. In terms of a statement from Vader that Palpatine is being capable of destroying of an entire Star System which would require around 22.77 Foe to 20.08 TeraFoe at minimum and 20.08 TeraFoe
to 10.53 ZettaFoe at maximum making Palpatine a clear Solar System Level Buster if we believe Vader. In terms of there is any evidence to actually back this claim by Vader - I would argue that there definitely is. After killing his master - Darth Plaguis - he created a tremor powerful enough to shake stars and constellations. Based on the fact that it shook stars - it is likely that this would be a Solar System Level feat due to the fact that the tremor managed to shake multiple stars and constiances all at once rather than one (though you could lowball it an say it’s a star level feat). If we highball it though, it should be around what Vader stated Palpatine was capable of - being able to destroy a solar system.

It should also be noted that Palpatine is the strongest Sith who ever lived - meaning he should be far more powerful than Darth Nihilus, who life wiped a planet - this feat came out to  728 Petatons or Multi Continent Level. Palpatine should also be stronger than Vitiate, who destroyed life on Ziost  which came to 16-21 Teratons or Country Level.

All in all if you lowball Palpatine - I would put his destructive capability at around Star Level but if you don’t i would say - Solar System Level.

As for Xehanort, it is simpler to quantify his maximum potential then Palpatine’s. The χ-Blade is capable of  splitting the Kingdom Hearts multiverse into separate worlds. To do this - it would require at the very least Universe Busting Levels of powers in order to create the KH World (or  2.825 TenaexaFoe if you want to use the standard term). This is consistent as the χ-Blade has the power of Kingdom Hearts which is capable of creating and maintaining the universe. Even a weakened Kingdom Hearts was able to restore the destroyed worlds (which was calced to be 1 Foe). While i do not think that Xehanort is macoverse level or multiverse, I do think that is an extremely solid argument to be made that Xehanort with the χ-Blade is capable of Universe Busting Power...and before you ask - yes in terms on if DEATH BATTLE made this into a DEATH BATTLE, i would be 100% sure that they would give him the χ-Blade since he obtained it and used it.

Ultimately unless you severely lowball Xehanort as well as not give him the χ-Blade then i see little argument that Xehanort takes this in terms of destructive capability

In terms of speed, Palpatine travelled from Endor to Exegol as a spirit. Considering it took him at very most 24 years to travel from Endor to Exegol, this feat came out to 2166 x FTL and no he did not instantly teleport to Exegol based on what Palaptine says in Rise of Skywalker. Palpatine should also be vastly stronger than most characters in Star Wars. He should be faster then the likes of General Grievous, who dodged a blast from a Kyber Crystal (1.7-24% light speed) as well as the meme lord himself - Obi Wan Kenboi. Kenobi sensed where blaster bolts were coming from in a nanosecond (0.000000001 seconds), before deflecting three of them. This should put Palpatine’s travel speed at MFTL and his reaction speed as FTL to MFTL.

As for Xehanort’s speed, we know Xehanort is faster than Ventus (considering in Birth By Sleep - Xehanort was able to dodge Ventus’s attack and grab him from behind) who can react to Stitch’s cruiser while it was in hyperdrive. (1640076.12c). This is a Massively Faster Than Light Feat and Xehanort would likely scale to him due to the fact that Xehanort is canonical - better then Ventus.

So both have Massively Faster Than Light Speeds but I would say Ventus’s feat is more impressive then the Exegol Feat or scaling to Obi Wan Kenobi so I would give the edge to Xehanort in speed but it’s far more closer.

In terms of their durability, well Palpatine is fairly easy to figure out considering he’s tank his own force lighting powers during Revenge of the Sith and since we already established that Palpatine should be around Solar System Levels of Destructive Capability - there you go. His durability should be the same as his Destructive Capability. As for Xehanort, well he’s tanked attacks from some of the most powerful characters in the series such as Sora. Sora has fought and held his own against Hercules, who claims to not hold back. Sora has also fought against the Titans of Myth who were shown to be somewhat comparable to Zeus who rearranged hundreds of stars which is a Star Level feat. Considering Xehanort has tanked hits from Sora in KH3 (which is when Sora was at his most powerful) that should at the very least put Xehanort’s durability at around Star Level. However, saying that Xehanort’s durability is Star Level is likely a massive lowball considering that at the end of KH3 - Xehanort amped himself with the power of Kingdom Hearts which as mentioned previously has the power of merging all worlds into a single new universe. Considering that Destructive Capability scales to durability, Xehanort would likely have Universe Level Durability.

So Xehanort would definitely win in terms of Destructive Capability,Speed and Durability so what about other factors like their arsenals. Well in terms of their arsenals, things get a bit tricky in a sense. It is true that Palpatine is far more versatile than Xehanort - having hundreds of force related abilities that he can bring to the battlefield and does have abilities that could potentially cripple Xehanort - his mind reading and mind manipulation ability specifically. But while I would argue that Palpatine is much more versatile than Palpatine - Xehanort has got it where it counts. First is Xehanort’s time manipulation which in terms of his arsenal, is likely one of the best ways of killing and stopping Palpatine. Xehanort is capable of  stopping time, reversing time as well as slowing time. Let’s go through this one at a time - Xehanort can use his time manipulation to stop Palpatine in his tracks before finishing him off - Palpatine likely doesn’t have any means of fully countering Xehanort’s time stop so it’s very likely Xehanort would use this to his advantage. Xehanort can also use time stop as a means of dodging Palaptine’s attacks and plant himself into a place where he can counterattack. Xehanort also has a method of healing in terms of reversing time as he even if Palaptine injures him heavily - he can simply reverse time to heal himself which while an unconventional method of healing - would probably be more reliable than any of Palaptine’s method of healing time.

Xehanort also has hax that could potentially spell the end of Palpatine in a few minutes - such as Doom. Xehanort could simply cast Doom on Palpatine which would kill an opponent in a few seconds if not properly countered. He could also freeze him solid with ice magic, electrify him with electric magic, crush him with gravity magic, etc. Xehanort has a lot of magic powers on his side that count counter Palpatine and stop him dead in his tracks.

There’s also the fact that Xehanort can summon armies of Heartless,Nobodies and Unversed to his side as well as create duplicates of himself that contain all of the powers of the Organization 13 Members. If Xehanort so chose to - he could simply overwhelm Palpatine with sheer numbers and then finish him off.

Finally there is the nature of No Name and the χ-Blade itself. One of the most significant things about Palpatine is that he simply won’t die. Even if you destroy him as a spirit - he will still find a body to possess. While i do think destroying Palaptine’s body would still count as a win, Xehanort could easily cause conceptual damage - killing Xehanort and splitting his soul into several pieces that would make it extremely difficult for Palpatine to reform again. Palaptine on the other side of the argument - doesn’t have the means of killing Xehanort completely as he can erase/destroy Xehanort’s heart - making it impossible for Palaptine to kill him.

Then there’s the χ-Blade which is not only the most powerful Keyblade to ever exist but can channel the power of Kingdom Hearts into Xehanort making him much more powerful and be capable of removing the light/darkness out of someone - turning them into a being of pure light or darkness. Doing this to Palpatine would likely remove his Force Powers and would cripple him.

While I do think Xehanort is less versatile, he very easily has the stuff needed to take out Palpatine with ease.

While i do think Palaptine does have some means of taking out Xehanort through mental manipulating/control (he could make Xehanort kill himself by impaling himself with his keyblade) ultimately when it comes down to it - this debate is who would likely win more times then not and ultimately i have to give it to Xehanort for having more Destructive Capability, being faster, being more durable and having the abilities and skills needed to take out Palpatine for good while Palaptine can’t do much against Xehanort. Looks like Palaptine will be Heartless… because he will be dead.

And with that, hope you enjoy the second half of DEATH BATTLE S7 and looking forward to Beerus vs Galaxia.

Phantom Falcon

This matchup is omega sexy and I want it. Both are total chads. Sheev is pretty crazy right? Surely he has this in the bag

Might as well just give an analysis. Lots of SW Legends stuff is bunk or out of context, but Darth Fucksalot, even with them, should be solidly in the star-solar system range via turning Byss into a nexus comparable to the Valley of the Jedi, which is supported with him shaking stars and forming constellations. I’ve heard some debate on whether or not the latter is fine, but it shouldn’t matter either way since Mansexnort is far more powerful. The χ-Blade gives him control over Kingdom Hearts, which makes up the entire KH universe even when it was split into multiple realms. Should be worth noting that “worlds” in Kingdom Hearts aren’t just planets, the cosmology makes it so that each “world” is in actuality a solar system at bare minimum, since we can see celestial objects in them, and Stitch’s world is outright referred to as a universe. Some “worlds” even have separate dimensions in it. Why is this important you ask? Well, he was going to destroy ALL of these realms by filling Kingdom Hearts with darkness, solidly putting Xehanort at low multiversal to even flat out multiversal levels of power with the χ-Blade. You can argue he even scales to this shit without the χ-Blade since Sora, Donald, and Goofy could survive hits from him with it, and he can fight pretty on par with the trio normally. Hell, Sora and Riku even fought Xemnas when he had a portion of Kingdom Hearts, and Xehanort splitting the Toy Story world in two should make this relatively consistent as well. Nort takes power by a massive margin, and nothing is gonna save Sheev from that, no matter what you do

Speed is more or less the same. Sheev should solidly be in the thousands of times lightspeed range via traveling to Exegol in at most 24 years, but that’s not saving him. Xehanort at bare minimum scales to Roxas traversing through worlds in seconds, putting him at minimum millions of times light speed, and this is only with the solar system sized interpretation. The feat can get as high as quintillions with the universal interpretation. Safe to say Nort dominates the stat trinity.

But these two are essentially the CEO’s of Hax.Inc, because holy mother of fuck the hax these 2 have are insane. Just look at their VSBW profiles lol. That said, a quick TLDR is that Nort still edges out in this category. He has death hax that can kill Palpatine in 5 seconds tops, can transmutate him, reverse time and even stop it, seal him, BFR him, fuck him over with his reality warping and spacial manipulation, power null him, etc. Even Sheev’s immortality here won’t help, since Xehanort can attack him on the conceptual level with a basic ass Keyblade and has non-physical interaction, meaning he can attack his soul. The worst part is that Palpatine has...no way to permanently kill Xehanort. Let's ignore stats for a moment. Let’s say Sheev is...universal, why not, and Nort is also universal. Sheev destroying his physical body won’t end the fight. See, Sora, even while he was “conceptually in pieces”, didn’t have his heart destroyed, and after learning the power of waking, came back to the fight. The same can apply to Xehanort, meaning that killing the old fucker is nearly impossible without similar conceptual manipulation to destroy his heart, and since Sheev has no conceptual manipulation, Nort literally comes back from everything Sheev does even with equal stats.

Darth Fucksalot is certainly a devious and evil bastard, but Mansexnort has everything he needs in order to take the win. He cleaved the Sheev in this one.

Hey, out on the road, but quickly want to give my verdict on the final blog for the midseason  break. Palpatine Vs Xehanort I will admit was a fight that truly a special place in the type of connection for the fight, which was why I wanted to make the introduction to this final blog and writethe story bio for Palpatine. I have to say this while I do love both series, Xehanort has this in the bag. He is just too powerful and versatile with his magic and keyblades that Plap. Despite having better mind games, more experienced with the force, and can one shot kill Xehanort, Palpatine has no way of killing him for good. Not only that, but Xehanort destroys in stats and has more ways to kill the Sith Lord.

DARTH SIDIOUS was strong with the force, but not enough as Xehanort was the better wielder in stats, deadly arsenal, stronger abilities, and near immortality to destroy the Keyblade Master. Looks like Xehanort executed the order to a Sidious Dark Lord.

And that's it. Very cut and clean for me and the victor, but I have a great time with making this blog. I hope everyone had a great summer as it comes close to the end,  and continue staying awesome.  See you all in the next episode.

So, Emperor Fucksalot VS Master Mansexnort. Truly, a battle for the ages. I wonder how many people are gonna make that joke? Anyway, I suppose it’s time to explain my thoughts as to who wins this matchup and why, but I feel remorse since nowadays I agree with the popular consensus on Xehanort winning. I’m gonna explain why here in a second, but I just thought if you just wanna read which character everybody’s picking, then you don’t even need to scroll down for mine. I even emboldened it for you. Just for you. And every other reader. But mainly for you, whoever you are. Onto the analysis!

I think strength has a pretty clear cut advantage for Xehanort, as at the very least he should be Universal due to the χ-Blade. Without it, he scales back through Sora damaging and defeating him in Re:Mind. As for good old Sheev, at the very most he should be solar system level, which uh, is less. Not only that, but there’s some contention on the subject of these feats that I won’t go into because, quite frankly, I can’t Star Wars, but I can Kingdom Hearts. So, let’s just say Palps is galaxy level for the hell of it. In that case, since we’re using the high end for Palpatine, we might as well do the same for Xehanort. Due to worlds being separate universes (which is an argument I’ll get to shortly), and the χ-Blade re-shaping the worlds, that would make Xehanort multiversal, and he might get buffed to multi+ or complex multi with KH4… maybe even outerversal, if my KH shibuya theory is correct. But that’s just a theory, so I won’t bother you with the details. Let’s just say multiversal for now, which is still well above Palpatine in every conceivable way.

Now for speed, which is a lot more tricky to decipher, namely due to contention on KH cosmology and the legitimacy of World Razer scaling for Sheev. Let’s start with KH cosmology (cause being honest I don’t really know a lot about the world razer calc anyway). To explain what makes KH characters MFTL+, there’s a specific feat in KH3 where Roxas returns from Radiant Garden to the Keyblade Graveyard in 2 seconds. With the existing notion of worlds being in separate star systems, the feat is around 66 million times the speed of light. However, due to the evidence for worlds being universe sized that I’m sure somebody has provided before me (please). With this buff, it’d put KH speed into quintillions c, which uh… is way faster than the world razer. So, again, at their very maximum, Xehanort has the edge.

Hax is not as clear cut as the last two categories, sadly (for me and no one else). Palpatine has hax that Xehanort has no resistance to (namely mind hax), but… so does Xehanort. And given the previously established speed gap between the two, Palpatine realistically would not be able to implement his hax that Nort doesn’t resist. Not only that, but if he somehow got the jump on Nort, he has various time spells that we’ve outlined in the abilities section that basically allow him to control the battlefield at all times. Not only that, but Xehanort has many magic spells that can function as an area of effect attack (i.e. thunder, fire, wind). But that’s not even the crutch of why I think Xehanort wins. For that, we… have to analyze Kingdom Hearts writing. Hold my hand, guys, I’m gonna need it.

So, for this example we’re going to be comparing Xehanort to Sora. In KH3, Sora’s whole thing was that he needed to learn the “power of waking” that would allow him to save everyone, and what it turned out to be was… GER, basically. It brings you back instantly to the place where you want to go, and then you’re there. While this process does eventually kill the user, it can be done multiple times (at least four, if I remember correctly). This is important because… well, Sora can only be killed if you can kill the concept of him. And this should apply to Xehanort because he basically describes the kind of time shenanigans he pulls as similar or the same to the power of waking multiple times, and as such similar rules should apply to him. So, unless Palpatine can destroy Nort conceptually… he’s fucked.

So overall, Xehanort is too strong, too fast, outhaxes, can’t be killed reliably, and is sexier don’t @ me. Palpatine may have unlimited power, but Xehanort held the X to this battle. He just had too many abilities many would consider… unnatural.

The Grandbull

As a big star wars fan. I can't really say that sidious wins this. At first I thought he won. Mainly because i didn't know much about KH. but sadly He’s outclassed in almost every way. Palpatine is Solar System in Ap and dura. Xehanort is Universal in ap and dura. Sidious is a Million times the speed of light. Nort is 66 millions of times the speed of light. Not to mention that most of Sidious’s hax are canceled out by the fact that nort has the same powers and more than palps doesn't have. Such as time manipulation and soul manipulation. While i do prefer this fight far more than Darth fucksalot’s other fights *cough* cuckamort *cough* *cough*. I think Nort wins this. Though I will say this. Even if palpatine loses. The fight animation would be a sight to behold. Vote: Mansexnort

I totally didn’t write this at the last possible femtosecond what are you talking about.

So basically, a lot of shit in legends like Naga Sadow yeeting suns and doods blowing up planet’s is whack cause prep time and non-standard shit, and Palpatine only maybe possibly scales to the force nexus known as The Valley of the Jedi by virtue of being a strong force nexus himself. Otherwise speed gets up to maybe millions if you use the best Force Storm speed possible. However, even if you scale The Senate’s AP to The Ones (Don’t, Abeloth literally says she’s above Sheev), Nort still claps in that category. He also has far less whack speed feats that get way higher even on the low end, and if you buy KH worlds as full universes then well

This is to say nothing of the fact that Square Enix went “Ok so what hax should we give Xehanort” and another guy in the room slammed his fist down and said “YES”.

So basically, Xehanort claps via like everything, Beerus vs Galaxia isn’t my preferred match but hey it looks cool, and I successfully fooled you because The Senate has been stated as having “UNLIMITED POWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!” more than once and the force is omnipresent not to mention Kingdom Hearts poopy lmao gg give us Palpy vs Voldy for a free Palpy W k thx bai.

Clockboxxer

Not too familiar with either character here, but this match is pretty cool. Definitely deserves a DB one day. That said, the winner is pretty clear here. Gotta feel bad for Star Wars fans.

In terms of stats, Sheev can’t really compare. Xehanort’s wealth of crazy cosmic scaling and shit make him much stronger, and KH speed kinda just shits all over Star Wars. That alone would be enough, but Nort can match Palpatine’s abilities and outclass him with his own, like time manipulation.

Manipulation tactics can only go so far when you’re fighting somebody who’s not only also a pretty smart cookie, but has fucktillions of times better physicality, and has game-ending abilities.

Palpatine’s only real win condition here seems to be matter manipulation, but that’s less probable and less plentiful than Mr. X’s numerous win conditions over the Sith Lord. Xehanort is gonna come out the victor today.

Sorry, Sidious, but compared to this guy, you’re a Nobody.

Next week: Beerus vs Sailor Galaxia. See ya there.

Birb

(Yeah remember those cantina band guys. Turns out there was a sith one of em and he was Darth Plagueis’ master. Go Legends)

This fight. This motherfucking fight right here. This battle is by and large THE single fight I want most of all. I’m more than honored to be a part of this blog for this and researching this fight was a wild ride.

On the surface both of these guys seem very straightforward in their abilities, but then you begin to dig really deep. Both of these guys are insane with the amount of shit they can do. It’s legit so much to take in, not helped by the sheer size and complexity of both Star Wars Legends AND Kingdom Hearts. Hell, this is one of the very rare cases where stats kinda don’t matter, and I do love me that kind of fight.

What do I mean by stats don’t matter?

Simple.

Conventionally killing both is near impossible and likewise, both have a huge array of options that consist more than simply hit you hard enough you die.

Just cause it’s practically tradition, though, I’ll go through stats.

Starting with the Senate we immediately hit a roadblock

Star Wars Legends has a relatively minor case of what I call ‘Alien X Syndrome’. What is Alien X Syndrome, you may ask. Is it some manner of way of rubbing salt into the wound of Ben vs Hal or trying again to argue Alien X wins? No, I’m not that petty, not towards that fight anyway.

Alien X Syndrome I define as a character or verse where the limits of their power are difficult to discern due to either a lack of many quantifiable feats, having only feats that are implied to be low effort or only scaling to lower tier characters.

The problem here with Sheevy boy is that many Star Wars Legends feats are either commonly done through rituals, groups of lower tiers or are difficult to really gauge due to vague language. Odd considering it’s the second biggest multimedia franchise in history but Star Wars skirts the boundaries of showing the true power of Jedi and Sith. That being said, the amount of feats is still large as it is vague so let’s take a look at the noteworthy ones.

Up first is from ‘I Must Be Frank’ himself. Being at the epicenter of a force quake that rearranged constellations after killing Plagueis. This is an odd feat not helped by the flowery text of the novel making it vague, however other Sith, with help, have achieved Solar System feats prior, such as with Naga Sadow chaining supernovas, and Sidious scales above most of em so I’d be inclined to give him SS AP
But it doesn’t end there.
Mr. All The Sith converted a planet, an entire fucking planet, Byss, into a Dark Side Nexus comporable to the Valley of the Jedi, a remnant of a Sith superweapon said to be able to wipe out star systems.
And again it keeps going.
One of the Sith Lords ‘Cosigna II’ scales to, Vitiate, nearly initiated a ritual that could consume all of the Galaxy. Why is this important? Simple.

At the end of Dark Empire, Creamy Sheev’s spirit matched and was dragged into the afterlife by a coalition of EVERY single Jedi to ever exist.

Crunching the numbers from a variety of sources, I found the total amount of Jedi to exist up to that point should at least be 6.25 MILLION. the Thought Bomb that caused the Valley? Consumed at the most, a very unlikely most might I add, only 2,100 Jedi and Sith. A drop in the bucket.  And Jedi increase in power exponentially in groups.

Suffice to say, Galaxy level Emperor is a very real, very scary possibility in my eyes.

But let’s see what Nort brings to the table, shall we? Kingdom Hearts is an odd verse, and a complicated one to sift through, however luckily most of Xehanort’s feats are far more straightforward and clear cut to figure out.

Simply put, if given the X-Blade, and let’s face it, why wouldn’t you, Xehanort is at LEAST Universal and probably Low Multi. He was gonna pull a Dimentio and reshape everything into one universe.

The actual size of the Kingdom Hearts universe is a rather… interesting debate, with some worlds being universe sized and others not. The way I see it, I believe many of them are safe to just assume to be pocket dimensions. Still, a reality wipe is a reality wipe and Xehanort sits comfortably at Uni even without the blade thanks to Data Sora.

Already this seems like a Xehanort stomp in the making, Uni vs Galaxy isn’t really a debate, but recall what I said earlier. Stats don’t matter here and this fight is anything but simple. That being said, speed is next so let’s see what each brings to the table.

Mr. Worldwide Sith has a feat I hate to talk about simply due to where it comes from. So I shall speak vaguely about it

In a theoretical crackpot fanfic made in a cocaine lighthouse of a lens flare fetishist that was hired by a corporation looking to exploit nostalgia, an old man travels a large portion of a galaxy in what seems like seconds.

Now, this old man happened to also look incredibly shriveled and mastered a dark art of the universe, so I’d scale Carter Pewterschmidt in Blue Harvest to him. Now the highest potential for the people’s champ’s speed in this case clocks out to around 156 billion times the speed of light.

Xehanort on the other hand scales to Ventus’ heart traveling from the Radiant Garden to the Keyblade Graveyard in seconds. That shit gets to 66 billion, though if you wanna highball it…

66 BILLION IT IS!

Anyway this would mean Sith Gigachad has the speed advantage here, as far as I’m concerned

But again. None of this fucking matters in this fight. Everything I talked about here means absolutely nothing in this fight.

This is a battle of hax, not stats.

So. Let’s begin the true debate, shall we?

It’s safe to assume that Palpatine has access to pretty much 90% of all force abilities. So what can these abilities do?

A lot.

A lot.

Palpatine can read minds, manipulate spirits, exist without a body, possess and mindjack others, telekinetically speak to others and poke and prod their emotions, kill people without even touching them, create weapons of pure dark side energy, absorb energy, conjur fire and electricity from his fingertips, render himself invisible, levitate and fly, heal himself, control minds completely, absorb and sap energy, render someone comatose or just flat out put them into a coma, himself, conjur and summon the ghosts of past Sith, manipulate the weather, cast curses and fucking transmutate others, alter the past and future, mentally break others, induce complete mania onto others, and so so so much more.

And then there’s the Force Storms.

Jesus Christ the storms.

Palpatine’s ultimate attack, the de facto most powerful Force technique in the Star Wars mythos. Conjuring massive amounts of energy, Palpatine can summon a planet consuming storm of dark side energy that is so ungodly strong that it breaks the fabric of spacetime.

While there’s conflicting statements about whether or not Palpatine can just pop these out, there’s enough evidence for me to make a case that he can.

Suffice to say, Palpatine has tons and tons of options.

But…

Xehanort has more

Xehanort has every hax in the goddamn book.

All the shit listed above? Xehanort can do and more.

Palpatine tries to mindbreak him? Xehanort can just chill in the Realm of Darkness, which conceptually destroys your mind and soul, and Terra, who Nort himself scales to, could withstand an even worse version of that made by Xehanort himself. Palpatine can use a storm to warp time but Xehanort isn’t bound by time. Palpatine tries jacking Xehanort? He can just shift his soul to one of his damn proxies. Palpatine tries to summon the spirits of Sith past such as Vitiate or Nihilus, Xehanort can just pop out an army of Heartless, Nobodies and Unversed along with Organization XIII. There’s also the fact that BASE MOOKS in Kingdom Hearts hace conceptual manipulation and are extremely difficult to kill in the first place and things add up, Jesus Christ do they add up.

Palpatine has chances and options, yes, but Xehanort not only has more, he has ways of getting around Palpatine’s chances and can RESET THE GODDAMN FIGHT if things start going pear shaped for him. His hax is extremely busted to the point where it’s a better question to ask what can’t Xehanort do.

This is an extremely complicated debate and one hell of a ride but in the end Xehanort wins. His AP is massive compared to Palpatine and he carries with him pretty much every single hax Palpatine has and then some. Xehanort has the key to victory, while Palpatine just doesn’t have the heart to challenge him, for the X-Blade is a pathway to many abilities some consider unnatural.

[crop output image]

So this is fun. Two manipulative old pricks from two very iconic franchises (both very much so in Disney’s death grip) fighting each other to the death with an impossibly large amount of abilities. Probably more abilities than any character in Death Battle has ever had.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t make this fight a tossup in the slightest. Xehanort takes this without much question, and I’ll try not to just repeat what others have talked about while still giving good reasons as to why the Keybaldie takes it handily.

Part 1: A defense of Kingdom Hearts being multiversal

So, it’s common knowledge (or about as commonly known as you can get given Kingdom Hearts’ outrageously complex storyline) that the worlds of Kingdom Hearts were all part of one world. However, as a result of the Keyblade War causing the shattering of the χ-Blade, and the sealing of Kingdom Hearts into darkness, the direct consequence of this was the world’s shrouding in darkness, and even after it was restored by the light in the hearts of children (dumb, I know) the original world was separated into multiple worlds.

The main point of me mentioning this is to show that the cosmology of Kingdom Hearts was originally contained in one universe, before being split into what was likely multiple realms.

The evidence for them being split into multiple “realms” is that many of the worlds Sora and many other protagonists visit have their own celestial objects outside of a singular planet (like how Stitch does intergalactic travel but is still in his own world), and even dimensions in them (such as Hercules’ world containing Olympus and the Underworld).

Thus, with Kingdom Hearts’ current cosmology being more akin to a multiverse than a single universe, Kingdom Hearts’ ability to provide enough power to undo and remake all of the worlds into one single universe again becomes a lot more powerful. Xehanort on his own should scale partially to Kingdom Hearts, given Sora was able to defeat Xemnas after absorbing a portion of its power. That’s only assuming Xehanort doesn’t have access to the χ-Blade and Kingdom Hearts, which he probably actually would in a vs scenario.

Part 2: Palpatine is going to struggle with killing even the Kingdom Hearts fodder

Heartless and Nobodies are interestingly funny in that if it weren’t for the fact everyone and their mother can use a Keyblade in Kingdom Hearts, that they alone would actually pose a serious threat. Heartless can tear out your conceptual heart from a distance, and will regenerate from practically anything, unless they’re destroyed with a Keyblade. Nobodies on the other hand, are normally intangible to non-Keyblade-wielders, and are generally extremely tough even in their much lower forms, to be able to give even the most competent characters a major issue.

As far as I can tell, Palpatine is going to have a very tough time killing even one of either. He can at least physically affect the Heartless, but he certainly can’t put any down for good, and there’s no way he’ll just know to steal a Keyblade off of one of the many Xehanorts to finish the job.

Part 3: Killing one Xehanort just isn’t gonna be enough

It’s already been mentioned that Xehanort is going to vastly outnumber Palpatine 64 to 1 with clones of himself alone. That’s not even including the fact that he can use a clone of Palpatine and an army of unkillable fodder, but I digress.

Let’s assume by some stretch of imagination that Palpatine manages to kill Young Xehanort. The time paradox should surely cause the rest to go as well, right?

Nope.

While Xehanort is not immune to time paradoxes normally, he can bypass this via the Power of Waking as well as many other methods, such as reversing time after the fact to undo the moment and make it so the time paradox technically never existed, which is what allows a future version of himself to do the rescue in the first place. (Have I mentioned I hate time travel plots?)

Part 4: Palpatine has virtually no way of knowing the very few options he has to win, and no force technique can help with that

One of the biggest things to remember here is that while there’s by some miracle a way for the Sith to win, it’s very slim and conditional compared to the massive amounts of options Xehanort has to end the fight rather quickly.

Yes Palpatine could abuse mind hax to win, assuming he manages to somehow do this at the very beginning of the fight, before Xehanort can pull out any of his clones to continue the fight.

Main issue with that, however, is that Xehanort is established to have every stat advantage possible, including the speed to blitz Sidious before he could conceive the idea. There’s also the fact that Sheev has no single way of figuring that out so early in the fight before it becomes a moot point.

Part 5: Dead horse beating time

Did we mention that Xehanort has every stat and hax necessary to carry out the win? Like, wow does this feel like comparing buildings to skyscrapers. You have Xehanort with the AP, DC, durability, range, and speed advantage even at some of the lower interpretations of some feats and Kingdom Hearts cosmology (putting aside the evidence in their favor).

On top of that, you thought EU Jedis were haxy? Leave it to a JRPG antagonist to have more abilities (many being an ultra specific form of hax as well) than numbers you can count without passing out from exhaustion.

Part Bonus: Xehanort was really hot when he was young

Palpatine looks gross in just about every depiction and incarnation you’ll ever see him in. At least Xehanort only got gross over time (say no to darkness kids).

Speedy

Okay first of all, this matchup is godlike, I hope it happens in DB.
Second of all,
@Phantom Falcon ;)
(Inside joke)
In all seriousness, to start off, there’s been a lot of scrutinizing over Palpatine’s stats on our end for the last couple weeks, but personally I’m still pretty comfortable with the constellation-rearranging feat that everyone based his tier off of in the first place. To be frank, nothing really supports the claim that the moving stars were figurative (the argument being that "the stars moved into new alignments" is a non-literal representation of Palpatine bringing change to the galaxy) except headcanon and reading too much into it. It’s getting too caught up in subjective assumptions about metaphors and author intent, rather than just go off of what the text is actually saying. And even if you want to say the scene symbolizes Sheev's rise to power (which tbf it probably does), that doesn't change the fact that it happened. Even if the moving stars do have a deeper meaning, they still moved. A line that sticks out to me is "but in fact the heavens had been perturbed", which is about the most direct way of saying “this did actually happen” there could be. As for the secondary argument, that even if it did actually happen, it was just the Dark Side reacting to Palps killing Plagueis, I mean… that still means that Sheev caused it. It was his power that was causing the Force to react in that manner. The passage even makes repeated references to how powerful he had now become; it's pretty clearly supposed to be a representation of the strength he'd gained. Lastly, the outlier argument is kind of whatever, every verse is going to have low-end showings/statements like that, it doesn’t make high-ends invalid. Also, apparently there’s something SS level with scaling to the Valley of the Jedi and a statement from Luke, I haven’t looked too closely at either but people seem to be accepting them, so yeah. All-in-all I feel comfy keeping Sheev at SS/MSS level like he was before.
Speed is also tricky. Everyone seems pretty much in agreement that his speed does not scale to the World Razer, his famous MFTL+ feat from Legends was retconned by the revelation that he was rending space to do it, and we have not thus-far managed to track down a source for Vitiate’s MFTL+ feat, so that’s in question as well. The highest non-debatable speed feat we’ve been able to verify comes from, of all places, Disney canon. In one of the novels, it was stated that Sidious projected his consciousness between the Death Star and a new body on Exogol in an unknown timeframe. Considering the earliest known in-universe appearance of Snoke, we know that the highest possible timeframe for this feat is around 24 years, which would place Sidious’ minimum speed at over 2000 times faster than light.
Wew.
If you expected Xehanort to be any less complicated… I mean have you played Kingdom Hearts?
There are a lot of interpretations for Xehanort’s power. The two main ones that we seem to be rolling with are universal (since the χ-Blade and Kingdom Hearts combo were going to reset the universe at the end of Kingdom Hearts 3) or multiversal.
Multiversal is based on the fact that different worlds in Kingdom Hearts have dimensional barriers between them, and certain specific ones (Lilo and Stitch world) are referred to as universes. The KH manga does state that there is a multiverse, and Xehanort himself has stated that there are “countless” worlds that exist. If you go with this interpretation of Kingdom Hearts cosmology, Xehanort planning to wipe out all of existence would place his full power at multiversal, rather than “just” universal. It really doesn’t matter much though, obviously either interpretation is going to put him ahead in terms of raw power. If you want my personal opinion, I think universal is safer, but the multiversal stuff has enough solid evidence to be usable if necessary. It just so happens it’s not necessary here.
As far as speed is concerned, Xehanort scales to Roxas, who flew between worlds in mere seconds in KH3. Assuming worlds are simply planets/star systems, this gets 66 million times FTL. Assuming worlds are universes, it gets 1 goddamn quintillion times FTL. Once again, the distinction really doesn’t matter, Xehanort takes the speed advantage regardless (by a lot).
The hax in this matchup is fucking bullshit. Like have you SEEN how many abilities both of these fuckers have? Nah, not touching that. I’ll leave that to the others lol. I will touch on the most notable things in regard to the debate though, that being Sidious’ immortality and Xehanort’s conceptual fuckery. Long story short, I don’t think that the Senate’s immortality is going to be a huge factor here. Xehanort having non-physical interaction means he’s going to be able to attack Sidious’ spirit, he’s got power nullification that would fuck Sheev over, and if all else fails he could always just wipe out the universe. Pretty sure no amount of immortality is going to save him from that, especially since that would kind of… destroy the Force itself lol.
Xehanort’s conceptual stuff is comparatively a much bigger deal. Not only does he have the capability to attack Palpatine on a conceptual level, likely bypassing any level of damage that Sheev has shown to come back from, but from my understanding of things, Xehanort’s heart is a more fundamental part of his being than his own concept (via comparing his heart to Sora’s, which was still intact even when he was “conceptually in pieces”). This means that killing Xehanort should by most accounts be impossible if you don’t have similar conceptual manipulation, as his heart is just going to survive no matter what. The heart is also stated by Xemnas to be separate from the soul, so no soul manipulation is going to get the job done either.
So, to summarize, Xehanort is stronger and faster, he can deal with Palpatine’s immortality, and he’s not really killable here. So yeah, Sheev gets cleaved. Still a god-tier matchup though. If y’all reading this take anything away from this blog, please let it be that.

Time

So here we are at the last blog of the mid-season break. It’s been a wild ride for these past 10 weeks. This matchup is supremely sexy. As a colossal Star Wars nut, I’ve wanted to see our favorite Sith Lord Fucksalot in Death Battle since the show’s inception, and this fight is utterly perfect for him. God will I be sad if they waste him on Voldemort.

Now Palpatine is one OP mother fucker. Dude’s the strongest Sith Lord in galactic history up to his era and can pull more abilities out of his ass than Obi-Wan can make one-liners. From standard lightning and telekinesis to sucking the life out his enemies and creating god damn wormholes, Sheevy would prove to be a deadly foe for almost any who face him. Lad can even defy death by slapping his soul into other bodies over and over. Clearly, he must have this in the bag, right?

Unfortunately for Sidious, Nort is just on a whole other level. Sheev may have statements implying he can blow up a solar system and a star-shaking master murder to back it up, Master Mansex here can reboot the entire cosmos of Kingdom Hearts with darkness and match the power of Kingdom Hearts which maintain all of the worlds. Those feats are at least universal in power, but there are implications each world is its own, self-contained universe, which would push Nort’s might well into the multiversal range. Either way, Nort has strength in spades. Palpatine may have been able to send his soul from Endor to Exegol after his defeat at the hands of Vader, a feat which should 2166c at the very least, and send a wormhole across the Galaxy at up to 2 million c speeds, Xehanort compares to Roxas, who travels between worlds within seconds, clocking in at a minimum of 60 million c, again reaching far higher if each world is its own space-time. This makes him at least 30 times faster than Sheev at his absolute fastest.

Hax isn’t much nicer for the Emperor, either. Sheev wants to BFR with a space and time warping Force Storm? Nort can turn himself into a time-space portal to travel back. Dominate his body with Transfer Essence? Mansex can do the same and his armor protects him from possession. Create monsters with Sith Alchemy to get a numbers advantage? Thousands of Heartless and even a fucking Sidious clone say otherwise. Meanwhile, Xehanort has abilities which Palpatine cannot counter, such as stopping time DIO-style, BFRing him outside of the cosmos, restarting the whole fight with full knowledge of what went down prior, and killing him on a conceptual level. Worst for Fucksalot is Mansexnort’s ability to outright strip him of all his darkness, which is described similarly to the Dark Side of the Force thus possibly stripping Sheev of his Force abilities, and revive him as a servant loyal to the Nort. Hell, Xehanort cannot properly die unless his heart is destroyed, which is the essence of his being completely separate from his mind, body, or soul.

Ultimately, this verdict cannot begin to fully delve into all the reasons Sheev cannot keep up in this fight. He may be an all-powerful Sith Lord, but he pales in comparison to the raw power, speed, and abilities of the Master of Darkness. When his deadliest abilities are countered and his opponent can destroy his essence and make a perfect copy of him at will while also being too unkillable to properly die, the victor becomes unfortunately clear cut. Though Palpatine may have fucked in Canon, in this fight he’s only getting fucked by the Mansex.

Migue79

Waddup once again! Here to give another verdict for this blog. Due to my lack of familiarity with both characters, especially the latter, and migration papers being a bitch, I’ll be keeping this verdict short.

So… We got Sheev Palpatine vs. Xehanort. Pretty interesting & thematic MU that sounds interesting for an actual DB. But how about fairness, huh? Uh… Eh hehehehe… Not… So much…

Long story short, Xehanort pretty much statstomps the Dark Emperor: not only is Sheev’s higher ends put in serious question (feats being him moving stars to form a constellation and him being stated to be a solar system buster like Cell, him calling in Force Storms and scaling to the World Razor in speed) for things like being out of context, improper scaling and the like, making them less concrete than Xehanort’s higher ends, but they’re FAR less impressive by a wide margin- like Xehanort’s most impressive scaling gets him up to Low Multiversal/Multiversal via scaling to the Kindgom Hearts for example. And if you buy KH world to be fully fledged universes, well… uh, he shitblitzes to hell and back with a whopping max speed of 315 Quintillion C. But even without that he has consistent feats in the Millions C range which is better than Sheev’s Thousands-Millions C feats. So… Yeah. Safe to say Xehanort shitblitzes.

Same story with hax. While Sheev has potent enough mindhax to mindhax a literal galaxy and chuck it at you  mind control an entire galaxy worth of people & robots (which Xehanort doesn’t resist afaik which means he has a wincon yay), it kind of pales to what Xehanort can do, with the latter being able to literally death hax you in 5 seconds tops, erase you from existence, can stop time, kill you at a conceptual level (pretty much hard countering Sheev’s immortality of living as a soul) and can only be killed by destroying his heart (sort of a conceptual thing with no correlation to mind, soul or body) which Sheev can’t really do since he lacks conceptual hax. So… He can’t even kill him.

In all? Sheev still wins because he can chuck galaxies and Xehanort can’t.

See? Case & point. It’s an easy win for the galaxy chucker. Eat shit, Xehanort!!!!! Love you, Phantom.

Real talk, though. Xehanort pretty much has the Dark Emperor outclassed in most categories that should matter. This is a very decisive match with an interesting thematic to it. Hopefully it gets done by DB one day.

I’m bad at coming up with puns in a short time so no pun from me. And if you complain at me, I’ll just call Sheev to chuck a galaxy at you. >:)

But anyways… Have a nice day, y’all! It’s been a pleasure participating in these season break blogs! Hopefully I can participate in the in season blogs. Pce!

                            Kiiiiiiiiiiiingslyyyyyyyy

Here to make the most last minute of verdicts (and just give my thoughts on Star Wars stats I guess). I can’t say I’m really convinced by a lot of the higher end arguments for Palpatine’s powers and Sith Lords in general. The constellation extract from the Plagueis novel is about as lofty and metaphorical as you can get, and even taking it at face value, it’s a pretty big outlier when you consider that every other Sith Lord has needed giant super weapons to perform star destroying feats. Sure Palpatine is the strongest Sith Lord, but the constellation thing happened right after he killed Plagueis, where he was nowhere near as strong and wasn’t even a lord yet, so that doesn’t exactly explain it. You can’t just say “low-ends” when the low-ends are waaaaaay more clearly written and direct than something like this I don’t think. I feel like they should take precedent when they’re a lot less subject to vague language and expressly contradict the vaguer feat. Take a step back and ignore the disparity in power levels, them being low and high-ends, and instead just look at the feats in terms of how clear they are. I’d say the low-ends in general are just clearly intended as more direct demonstrations of the characters’s power, especially when compared to this. I know death of the author is a thing, but I feel like you kinda have to factor in authorial intent when you’re getting to this level of analysis. It’s an incredibly flowery piece of text to base such a massive stat increase off of. Beyond that, the text seems to suggest it to be more of some vague dark side balance thing, a result of the force as a whole if taken at face value and not what Palpatine himself could directly call upon. It’s like that plate on a stick analogy. Of course the dark side will react to something like an apprentice usurping their lord, but that doesn’t mean Palpatine can call upon that sort of power when he, well, demonstrably hasn’t. One of the big themes of the series is that the force seeks balance, that’s a recurring idea that George Lucas himself has talked about. It’s beyond any individual’s power. Kanan’s voice actor spoke pretty well about this here, 1 hour and 2 minutes in. I think just saying “well we shouldn’t read into it, it happened” is ignoring the subtext and taking what is very obviously a metaphorical and artistic passage a bit too literally honestly. Just reading it and noting how it’s written and the way the scene is described, I think it’s almost a bit of a disservice to the writing to take it all as literal, though that’s admittedly getting a bit haughty-taughty and pretentious, especially for a silly franchise like Star Wars. Still, sometimes deeper analysis is necessary yo. English class exists for a reason lol. Sure, he says he “owns the dark side of the force”, but that’s clearly just his ego talking given that he, you know, died later on, and was bested by Mace Windu turning the dark side against him. You also can’t scale him to Vitiate life wiping given those are all rituals with a shitton of prep, and Nihilus’s status as a wound in the force should make him exempt from usual Sith scaling. He’s more a weird dark side monster at this point. I know there’s some debate over the feat of Vitiate life wiping Ziost, but I can’t find any source that actually confirms he did it via raw power, meanwhile everywhere else I look just says he used the ritual. Given that, and the fact that him using a ritual makes a lot more sense both contextually and power wise, I’m not comfortable scaling Sidious to it. He only ever drains something three times, and in both other instances he used a ritual, so. Likewise, giving him Force Storms at all is kinda generous given the WoG quote about them, but Force Storms also really aren’t even that useful in a fight like this. It’s explicitly stated in the endnotes that he can’t control them and is lying when he says he can, and they risk killing him every time he opens one. In a close quarters fight (ie, anything less than a planet’s distance away in this context), he’s liable to accidentally kill himself every time he tries using one, and has died to them in the past just by having his connection disrupted. It’s not like he can control what they suck in, they’re just as likely to kill him as they are to kill Xehanort. They’re practically useless in a fight like this. The Exegol feat people are citing shouldn’t really scale to reactions since it was just a direct thrust and he could have just decelerated over time. He’s a ghost, it’s not like he’s gonna hit anything, and he already knew where he had to go, and honestly scaling it to alive Palpatine in the first place is pretty dubious given how force spirits work in Star Wars. Plus, especially for canon Star Wars, it’s a pretty obvious outlier anyways. Oh yeah, and that one “the ability to destroy a solar system” statement is clearly just talking about the force and its application as a whole as opposed to a linear power thing and literally saying “yeah bro Palpatine can destroy a solar system”.

I also can’t say I'm too sure about a lot of the high end arguments for Xehanort, but I also don’t really have enough knowledge of Kingdom Hearts to say in the first place, and it doesn’t really end up mattering. Xehanort’s feats are just clearly better than Palpatine’s. He’s displayed far more versatility in standard fights with his huge arsenal of magic, compared to Palpatine who essentially exclusively uses his lightsaber and Force Lightning. Sure he has a lot of abilities that he could use if we take that one quote that he’s mastered every force power at face value, but we’ve seen how he fights and he really doesn’t apply anywhere near that full versatility, unlike Xehanort. Beyond that, stuff like Sora cutting through 7 iron buildings with ease and Xehanort raising fuck huge stone plateaus outshine any of Palpatine’s direct feats. His force lightning in ROS isn’t really quantifiable in any meaningful way given it disabled the ships as opposed to just destroying them, and it’s not like that would scale to his durability anyways given it’s fried him every time it’s been reflected back. On that note, Palpatine surviving Starkiller’s death explosion becomes a lot less impressive when you factor in that he was a distance away from Starkiller and his surface area compared to that of the explosion’s is tiny. It didn’t even damage the room they were in all that much. When it comes down to it Xehanort just applies way more versatility and power than Palpatine in a standard fight. Possession is about Palpatine’s only hope, but he usually doesn’t do that mid fight, and Xehanort should be able to handle his ghost anyways. This is a fun matchup and I do hope it happens someday, but Xehanort I think just has him beat from everything I’ve seen of the two. Also if this happens please don’t make Palpatine speak exclusively in memes and don’t just fill his analysis with them, I beg you.

Cyber

“The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant to the power of the Heart”
Two of my Favorite characters, fighting to the death. I'll cut straight to the chase, because there is alot I want to cover.

Sidious

Force Storm

According to the writer of dark empire, alongside more recent guides, and even implications in the original comic, Sidious cannot make force storms of his volition and requires outside help in the form of reaching to another force sensitive mind in order to create the storm. It's also noted in the dark empire sourcebook and endnotes that Sidious is a liar when it comes to his claims on being able to make the force storm alone. There is also a misconception that Sidious made multiple storms at once. The level of power the Storm can achieve is detailed in the original blog, with sources putting at either surface busting to planetary. Finally the writer of Dark Empire has stated Sidious is not stronger than the death star.

While true that the force storm did kill Sidious when he lost control over it, the endnotes imply he was entirely cut off from the force due to Luke and Leia, which should have lowered his durability.

Constellation Feat

In the Plagueis Novel, Sidious seemingly makes stars flare via a tremor in the force that stems from him, which moves the stars and makes a new constellation.
There are 2 issues here: A later re-examination of the feat suggests the events may have not happened as priorly described.

The second and much larger issue is that it's implied twice in the narration the feat is happening due to a shift in the force from the death of his master, which Palpatine compares to the shift that caused the birth of Anakin.

“But the moment didn’t constitute an ending so much as a true beginning, long overdue; it was less a transformation than an intensification—a gravitic shift.”

“Two beings in a galaxy of countless trillions, but what had transpired in the suite would affect the lives of all of them. Already the galaxy had been shaped by the birth of one, and henceforth would be reshaped by the death of the other. But had the change been felt and recognized elsewhere? Were his sworn enemies aware that the Force had shifted irrevocably?”
The feat is a chain reaction from a massive imbalance in the force, not just sidious himself.

“Scales to all the Jedi”

This idea originates from the dark empire comic. However, later guides mention it was only brand that was responsible for putting down Sidious. The guide linked is the New Essential Chronology, which acts the new collection of history of the EU, and retcons some prior events. The statement from the comic is also contradicted, as the spirits of jedi would later appear in the new jedi order, such as Yoda, and Sidious was in Chaos (the afterlife for sith).

Sidious’s spirit flew to Byss

This was later retconned in Star Wars gamer issue 5, in which it is revealed Sidious’ simply teleported his soul into his minion, who then traveled to Byss via ship. It is not an applicable speed feat.

Sidious scales to all prior Sith

This is true, as several guides and characters confirm this:

"The Sith have waited millennia for the birth of one who is powerful enough to return them from hiding. Darth Sidious is that one—the Sith's revenge on the Jedi order for having nearly eradicated the practitioners of the dark side of the Force."
The Complete Visual Dictionary

"Vader imagined the power that could be his if he crushed Palpatine and established his own rule over the Empire. But first, he would need his own apprentice. By himself, he could not hope to defeat the most powerful Sith Lord the galaxy had ever known."
Vader: The Ultimate Guide

"Emperor Zaarin? The idea isn't as ludicrous as it sounds. Demetrius Zaarin gambled everything on an audacious coup d'état and nearly killed the most powerful Sith Lord the galaxy has ever known."
Insider #66: Who's Who: Imperial Grand Admirals

"With the galaxy now ripe for conquest, the Emperor has become the most powerful Sith Lord of all and a master of the Dark Side of the Force, ordering the extermination of the Jedi Order with the aid of his apprentice, the deadly Darth Vader."

Legends Epic Collection: The Empire Volume 1
"Meet Darth Sidious – the most powerful Sith Master who ever lived."
Darth Maul, Sith Apprentice

"The Emperor was completely in concert with the dark side of the Force. He was the most powerful Sith who had ever existed."
Death Star

"Yoda was a master at masking his emotions, but not even he could hide them from the greatest Sith Lord ever known."
Clone Wars: Wild Space

"Their clash transcended the personal; when new lightning blazed, it was not Palpatine burning Yoda with his hate, it was the Lord of all Sith scorching the Master of all Jedi into a smoldering huddle of clothing and green flesh."
Revenge of the Sith novelization

"Yoda went after Palpatine in the empty Senate chamber, but could not defeat the most powerful Sith Lord in history."
The New Essential Chronology

With that said, Sidious is not the strongest dark side user (Abeloth directly proves this), and should not scale above massively amped sith. Several sith in the past used rituals, items (darkstaff for example), etc to achieve power well beyond what they normally could.
This segways into Byss, and an examination on prior sith feats Sidious is usually scaled to by the community.

Byss

Byss is a planet that sidious corrupted, albeit overtime, to become one of the most powerful dark side nexus’ in history. While near Byss, Luke was convinced it was the “dark center of the universe”, and was reminded of his father’s comments on the force (The power of the death star is insignificant to it). The darkside endnotes even state that while on Byss, Sidious was the ultimate expression of the dark side.

"It quickly became clear to Luke that this decrepit and seemingly defenseless old man was masterfully adept in the ways of the Dark Side of the Force. Indeed, as Vader had warned, the Emperor had become the Dark Side's most powerful expression."
Dark Empire endnotes

This may give credibility to scaling him to the Valley of The Jedi (an extremely powerful force nexus that has the power to cause supernovas). Do keep in mind though, the valley houses hundreds of jedi and sith souls, alongside thousands of other spirits. I do think it may possible for him to scale to this if drawing on all of Byss, though this would be extremely situational. Regardless, for this fight he is getting this nexus, so it is what it is.

Nexus

Palpatine being a dark side nexus is covered in the doc, and is something I agree with. Here’s a few more quotes to support it:

"And then there was Palpatine, of course: he was beyond power. He showed nothing of what might be within. Though seen with the eyes of the dark side itself, Palpatine was an event horizon. Beneath his entirely ordinary surface was absolute, perfect nothingness. Darkness beyond darkness.A black hole of the Force."
Revenge of the Sith novelization

"When Luke had been brought before the Emperor, Palpatine's visage had been familiar to him from images that had reached even remote Tatooine, and his inherent power was immediately evident.
The Supreme Overlord, however, was a void Luke could not fathom. He wasn't a shell of a human in a hooded cloak, more energy than flesh. Nor was his face that of a Sith Master, prematurely wizened by years of calling on dark power."
The Unifying Force

"The 10 years that followed were tumultuous, but nothing rivaled Hethir's shock when summoned to the planet Byss to face a miraculously reborn Emperor Palpatine. Hethir re-pledged his loyalty immediately, coming to understand Palpatine not as a man but as a vessel for the darkness of the universe, an avatar of the dark side itself."
Aliens in the Empire, Part II

"The Dark Side flowed through him like some primordial ichor and was the key to all his power."
Dark Empire Sourcebook

Movie Speed Feat

I will not be contesting the validity of this, as we already took a lowball for the amount of time.  Though it should be noted he needed to call on the full power of the dark side, which shows this it wasn’t casual.

I will now address the characters Sidious would (supposedly) scale to, and clear up the misconceptions for their feats.

Plagueis

The problem is there is nothing to support this. The winter starts at some unspecified time after his arrival, and happens on no other worlds he visits. It's a massive assumption without any backing.

Wutzek and the World Razer

Two force entities mistakenly scaled to Sidious, Wutzek is a “force demon'' stated to be able to destroy a solar system, and the world razer is an ancient enemy of the celestials (the race of Father,Son, and daughter). Wuztek has no connection to the sith to justify scaling and the ones are far beyond sidious, making it dubious to scale to the world razer at all

World razer is explained in depth here:

Darth Bane’s “world crushing storm”

Darth bane channeled the power of dozens of sith on ruusan to ravage the planet. Not only is it a shared feat, the storm was cut off and only destroyed some of the forests on the world.

Darth Nihilus

Nihilus drained the world of Katarr (multi continental). There are two problems with using this for sidious. The first is that a quick look at the comic shows structures still exist on katarr, meaning the calc is inflated.

The second is Nihilus’ drain is due to him being a force wound. Guides for Kotor 2 explain that his drain is unique to him only and cannot be replicated. He was also only defeated by Meetra Surik after being heavily weakened.

Darth Malak

Darth Malak powered the star forge (multi continental). Except he didn't. Malak used several Jedi to charge the forge. The other issue is the forge is passively feeding on the dark side around at all times.

"The Star Forge is more than just a space station. In some ways, it is like a living creature. It hungers. And it can feed on the dark side that is within all of us."

Naga Sadow and Aleema Kato

The two big ones. The two are treated as casual star busters, but they aren't.

Naga sadow causes a solar flare and a supernova in the Tales of  the Jedi comic.
Years later, Aleema would do the same using Naga’s ship. Several problems:

As such, Sidious cannot scale.

Yarael “f*ucking” Poof

No, he's not a planet buster. All he did was diffuse a force bomb, that was only going to split the planet in half.

Brakiss

Brakiss is mistakenly thought as a star buster (he mentions he doesn't know if he can), when all he did was cause a minor solar flare

Starkiller

Stakiller’s calcs are unfortunately inflated. One uses the wrong weight, and the other has several issues explained in these: (1,2

Dorsk

A jedi who threw ships out of a solar system.
When aided by 30 other jedi, amped by force nexus, and died in the process. Also, using the force together as a group greatly magnifies your power, so no one scales in remotely close to this separately.

Vitiate/ Valkorion

First I would like to say his “galaxy ritual” scales to no one, including himself.
It's stated to take hundreds of years of prep and billions of simultaneous deaths to activate.

"The Emperor has manipulated events for centuries towards one goal: performing an even greater ritual that will destroy this galaxy. But the ritual requires a great sacrifice to begin: billions of simultaneous deaths."

His ziost feat is explained in the doc, with a codex scan that implies it was potentially via raw power, not a ritual.

He was also weakened when building up to the feat, restoring himself and then doing the drain immediately.

This blog govers over Ziost, alongside why Nathema cannot be used for ap.

Finally i would like to add a few statements on Vitiate’s level of power:

"The Sith Emperor has mastered the dark side's power to become the most dominating Force-user the galaxy has ever seen."
From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Codex Entry titled "The Emperor's Fallen Jedi (Knight).")

"The Sith Emperor is the most powerful Force-user who has ever existed. Unless this implacable enemy can be defeated, the Jedi Order is doomed."
From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

"The Sith Emperor, history's most powerful dark side master, performed a ritual of incredible scope to consume the life energy of every being on his homeworld."
From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

"Over 300 years ago, the great Jedi heroes Revan and Malak stumbled upon the long-hidden Sith Empire's capital of Dromund Kaas, and its ruler - a mysterious, almost godlike avatar of the dark side."
From (Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia)

"The Emperor is the dark side incarnate. You wouldn't stand a chance."
From (Emperor's Wrath II, Star Wars: The Old Republic: Shadow of Revan)

"A being of unfathomable power and insatiable appetite, he transcended death multiple times, shedding his physical shells as they were discovered, defeated, and destroyed... only to return in another form."
From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne: Codex Entry titled "The Fall of Valkorion.")

"The Emperor is more than a man - he is the living embodiment of the dark side."
From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

"He was a living embodiment of the dark side of the Force who delighted in destroying the minds and spirits of those Jedi who came too close to him."
From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)

"The Emperor was no longer a member of the Sith species; his power and immortality had transformed him into a being unique in the galaxy."
From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)

Mftl Vitiate

First the feat is entirely off screen. The next problem is Vitiate left splinters of his soul in different bodies across the galaxy, including Zakuul. Considering this, he may have done what sidious did, and warped space. The feat relies on too many assumptions to claim as valid.

Luke and Kyp

I'm combining a breakdown of both “black hole feats” in one.
First the Dovin Basals that created the black holes do indeed manipulate gravity, but Kyp’s calc uses the wrong ship model for comparison (an ancient sith ship completely unrelated to the Yuuzhan Vong).

Second both feats greatly tired out luke and kyp, with kyp being noted as stronger than Luke( Post dark Empire Luke)

Lastly, Luke in the book Shadows of Mindor was stated to be stronger than Sidious and The death star.

However, all the events in the book are exaggerated retellings, from a guy Luke commissioned to make a holo tape:

“Oh, please. After all the money they’ve sunk into it already?”
“I can be,” Luke said mildly, “surprisingly persuasive.”
“Ah, yes, I suppose you can.” Geptun sighed. “Very well. What changes?”
“You made the deaths of the shadow troopers seem almost like an accident. Like I didn’t know it would happen. But I did. I knew what I was doing. The story has to say so.”
“Well …”
“That lightsaber versus ‘vibroshield’ fight? That goes too. It’s stupid. Besides, who wants to watch me cut up one more villain with my lightsaber? Don’t you think that’s getting pretty old?”
“Perhaps,” Geptun allowed, “we can work a little bit of truth in there.”
“And then there’s Aeona Cantor. She’s not my love interest—she’s Nick’s girlfriend, and that’s the whole story. Anyway, she’s not my type. Too abrasive. And I don’t like redheads.”
“I’ll make a note of it. What did happen to Nick and Aeona? And to Kar?”
Luke shrugged. “Nick thinks Blackhole is still alive.”
“Really?”
“That’s what he said. He and Kar figure they have a score there that needs settling. And if Blackhole really is still alive, having Nick and Kar and Aeona on his tail will keep him busy enough looking over his shoulder that he won’t have much time to stir up mischief. Now, look, in the story—some of these similes you use are … well, I’m not exactly a literary critic, but …

The expression on Skywalker’s face when the young Jedi returned to the sitting room hinted rather broadly that in this, as in so many other things, Geptun was destined to be disappointed.
Skywalker practically threw the holoreader at him. “What is this—this garbage?”
“Ah.” Geptun lowered himself onto a settee with a long, slow sigh. “It’s not to your taste, then.”
“My taste? My taste?” Skywalker flushed bright red; veins stood out on his forehead from the effort he expended in controlling what was clearly considerable anger. “It’s terrible. It’s the worst thing I’ve ever read!”

“You will not.” Though not a large man, Skywalker seemed to tower over him. “I hired you to investigate. I hired you to write a report. An indictment. Instead you bring me this? It reads like one of those blasted holothrillers!”
“Well … yes,” Geptun said. “There’s a reason for that.”
This brought Skywalker to a full stop. “What?”
“I have, well …” Geptun coughed. “I’ve already sold the holo rights.”
Skywalker sank into a chair. The flush drained from his cheeks. “I don’t believe it.”
Geptun’s initial disappointment had faded already, and he was constitutionally incapable of shame. “Did we not understand each other? Why do you think I agreed to do this in the first place?”
“For money,” Skywalker practically spat. “But I’m not paying you for this.”

Son and Daughter

I’ll keep this short. Siidous does not scale to either son or daughter

The son is a far more powerful dark user:

The Son was an embodiment of the dark side of the Force who dwelled on Mortis during the Clone Wars with his sister, the light-sider known as Daughter, and the powerful Force user known as Father, who tried to keep them in balance.
Databank: Son

The personification of the dark side, the Son plots to kill the Father, and is held in check only by the Daughter and the Father's determination to preserve the Balance.
Source: The Ultimate Visual Guide: Updated and Expanded

The incarnation of the light side of the Force, the Daughter serves as a suppressor on the Son, thwarting his efforts to escape from Mortis and battling him for dominance.
Source: The Ultimate Visual Guide: Updated and Expanded

As the Daughter dies, the Force beings to fall out of balance. Using her last strength, the Daughter serves as a channel for the Force, releasing her ebbing life energies to revive Ahsoka and remove the dark side's stain.
Source: The Ultimate Visual Guide: Updated and Expanded

"My children and I can manipulate the Force like no other."
Source: The Clone Wars: Overlords

Our abilities were bestowed by the spirits. The Winged Goddess and the Fanged God [Daughter and Son] bestow the passive and aggressive energies that animate every creature and allow each to draw breath.
Source: Book of Sith: Secrets from the Dark Side: Wild Power

These three beings are incarnations of the Force itself. The Son represents the unfettered dark side, the Daughter is the pure light side, and the Father is the mediator between his two children, his strength keeping either one from overwhelming the other. Each can take any form they choose, and likely are not creatures of flesh and blood.
Source: Nexus of Power

Despite their great power, The ones needed a station to create a group of large black holes, and scale to world razer. World razer cannot escape a cage powered by energy in the multi solar ranges.

Hax

Finally, I’m fine with all the hax given to Sidious. He is confirmed to have them in guides. I just want to mention it took decades to learn all of them.

Xehanort

For xehanort, I will be breaking down the kh cosmology mainly, as his scaling is contingent on it.
Single universe interpretation:
There exists a countless amount of Planets, in the realm of light (the universe)

Multiverse Interpretation:
The manga states there is a multiverse

Each “world” is spatially disconnected from one another via barriers

Each world has a different temporal axis

These worlds are shown having visible stars within the spatial barriers, like fantasia

As shown in Twilight Town, a sunset is visible, meaning it orbits a star.

These “countless” worlds make up the multiverse

Regardless of the interpretation, Kingdom hearts scales to the entire cosmology, as does the x-blade (explained in the blog)

I agree with all the Hax presented for xehanort.

Final note: Some may disagree with the Roxas mftl calc, due to the dimensional walls that separate the worlds. Roxas’ heart couldn't have simply used dimensional travel for the first trip, as he had no body yet and could use his keyblades to open the lanes to travel. It's most likely he smashed through the wall, as heartless do when they invade worlds. So it's still a speed feat

Final Comparison

Xehanort’s superior stats unfortunately make it impossible for Sidious to use the few hax he has that could give the win (matter manip, etc) and Xehanort even resists his mind hax, as he is unaffected by the realm of darkness mind effects. Combine in thatSidious is massively outnumbered, and that he lacks the hax to even destroy Xehanort heart, he would most likely die in a few seconds. Xehanort can use the X-blade to remove the dark side from Sidious as well.

If I seemed too critical of star wars in this breakdown, I do apologize, I love the franchise, but wished to show some feats are taken out of context.

Big thanks to Kingsly, 76SUP, and GodTongue for information on both verses, and helping with acquiring guides, You guys rock.

Xehanort has the key to Victory

And that’s a wrap from us, folks! It’s been fun, and hopefully we’ll be doing this again next year. But for now, tune in next week to see our thoughts on Beerus VS Sailor Galaxia as we enter the second half of Death Battle Season 7!

  4. Amazing work guys! This is an extremely detailed blog that I think do both verses justice. The feats and arguments listed in this blog alone is an excellent reference point for anyone who wants to learn about Star Wars and KH in vs battles.

That list of Palpatine's force powers is pretty insane and I can totally see how he would have some small advantages over Xehanort. As someone who is less familiar with the extended universe of Star Wars, I think you did a great job with explaining Darth Sidious's scaling as well. As for Kingdom Hearts, it's nice to see a lot more discussion in regards to the hax of the verse. I also appreciate the universe vs multiverse discussion since you give good arguments for both. There really is no question that Xehanort is the winner however, though this matchup has really good thematics.

I would love to see Palpatine vs Xehanort as an actual Death Battle despite it being a bit of a stomp. Though, I can only guess how Death Battle would portray Xehanort's power considering their more modest interpretation of Kingdom Hearts in Sora vs Pit.

    1. True but keep in mind - Sora vs Pit was pre KH3 and KH3 is where a lot of the insane stuff really came into focus

    2. You might be right, it'd be pretty hard to downplay X-blade related feats. idk if they would be convinced by the MFTL+ speed feats, however.

  5. Those mtachups you came up with were really fun while they lasted. My favorite was definitely Zero vs Mewtwo. If you evern do this again, can I suggest Ness vs Silver The Hedgehog? Both are young psychics who travel in time to save thier respective time period and both end up defeating monstrous timeline destroyers with help from thier allies.

  8. "He can at least physically affect the Heartless, but he certainly can’t put any down for good, and there’s no way he’ll just know to steal a Keyblade off of one of the many Xehanorts to finish the job."

Oh great, now I'm going to be severely disappointed if an official Death Battle doesn't have Sheev yoink one of those Keyblades and start tearing through the small fry while laughing his ass off.
