Death Battle Predictions: Frieza VS Megatron

Unbound by law or morals, the gravest of tyrants seek to establish their dominion on everything they see fit to claim as theirs. They exhibit no restraint in punishing those that defy their will, whether they be friend or foe, and their influence knows no bounds: soldiers from all walks of life succumb to their command either through force or charisma while armies under their leadership conquer new worlds for their ever-growing collection. To face them is to face death itself, and few have embodied these more than our next set of combatants - villains who have taken it upon themselves to crush all hope in their ever-expanding conquest of the universe:

Frieza, the cruel Emperor of the Universe from Dragon Ball. Megatron, the supreme Emperor of Destruction from Transformers. As two of the greatest evildoers throughout fiction, both have exhibited their ruthless tenacity in snuffing out would-be heroes from stopping their ambitions from reaching fruition. Death itself has not been able to stop them from wreaking more havoc upon their worlds, and neither would certainly take too kindly to sharing their title as sole ruler of existence with another. The leaders of the Frieza Force and the Decepticons are ready to stake their empires on the line to claim victory; which of their dark legacies will finally meet their end?

A Heads Up from Ya Bois

Note: This is just for the sake of clarity so y’all will know the scope and limitations of this here debate. We are dealing with what’s considered to be the primary incarnations of both sides after all, so here goes:

For Frieza, we’ll be sticking with what’s considered to be canon within the main Dragon Ball continuity, so the events of Dragon Ball Z, Super, and the like are fair game, while most of the movies, as well as GT, aren’t.

For Megatron, things’ll be a bit different. As we did for Optimus Prime, we’ll be compositing him across all Generation 1 media in Transformers history. There’s a lot to get through, but for example’s sake, some of the sources we’ll be covering include the original 80’s cartoon, the comics published by Marvel and IDW, video games such as Devastation and the War for Cybertron duology, etc.

Background

Frieza

"I made you a promise, remember? I said I'd make you wish for death."

Scattered throughout the far reaches of the universe are seven artifacts of great power: the Dragon Balls. While useless by themselves, the individual who can gather all seven of them is visited by the Eternal Dragon, Shenron. Barring a few limitations, he is capable of granting a single wish to the person responsible for uniting them before the Dragon Balls are once again separated. Numerous battles have been fought over the wishes Shenron can grant; those pure of heart seek them for similarly idealistic goals, while those blinded by ambition hope to harness them for the sake of obtaining more power. Such is the case with the galactic conqueror who desires true immortality to ensure his reign of terror will never end: the one and only Frieza.

Born to King Cold - one of the most powerful individuals in their race, and a megalomaniac tyrant himself, Frieza was tasked with succeeding his father in conquering the universe, and he had more than enough qualities of his own to back up his rising reputation. His natural potential for combat made him one of the greatest fighters in existence without having to train, and subjugated the Saiyan race to his rule; while he had annexed a few to fight for his Frieza Force, he went on to nearly render them extinct by destroying their home planet Vegeta in retaliation to a potential uprising from the race of natural-born warriors. In time, Frieza learned of the legends surrounding the Dragon Balls, and yearned to covet the wish they would grant him for his own.

Frieza’s attempts to obtain immortality saw him clash against heroes from Earth that stood in opposition to his evil. Chief among these fighters would be Goku, a Saiyan raised on Earth and the first of their kind in a long time to harness the powers of a Super Saiyan. In a titanic battle on the planet Namek, the self-proclaimed emperor met his match in what would be the first of many encounters the two archenemies would have with each other. Despite numerous setbacks in his attempt to become immortal - including defeats at the hands of more powerful foes and even his own death, Frieza’s cold-blooded tenacity has allowed him to return time and time again until all of creation is subjugated under his will and all his enemies are rendered naught but ashes.

Megatron

“Earth has placed its final hope on you? Ha, pathetic!”

Eons ago, the deity called Primus created the planet Cybertron, home to a race of robots that could transform into anything on command. Chief among his new creations were the first thirteen, meant to enforce Primus’s will against that of his nemesis - the Chaos Bringer, Unicron. While unity was widespread throughout Cybertron thanks to the efforts of these Primes, one of them - Megatronus, guardian of entropy - betrayed his brothers to seek out more power for himself. So grave was Megatronus’s sin against Primus that his name was struck out of Cybertronian history, until a gladiator-turned-warlord assumed the moniker for his own as he looked to purge his homeworld of weakness: the Decepticon Supreme Commander, Megatron.

Once a lowly miner from the Decepticon capital city Kaon, Megatron was a victim of the rigid caste system that kept him in the lower parts of society. As a gladiator, he used his newfound influence among the masses to fight for a seat within the Cybertronian senate, demanding reform and justice for those who had no voice. In doing so, he would befriend a fellow low-class Autobot worker, Orion Pax, over their shared desire to see a more unified Cybertron. However, as his demands were left unanswered, Megatron turned into a violent revolutionary; now seeking a world where he and his Decepticons controlled everything, he plunged Cybertron into chaos through a civil war against the Autobots - a conflict that would span millions of years.

Megatron’s ambition made him the ideal frontline commander during the War for Cybertron; while equally as ruthless to his enemies and his subordinates, he always led by example by charging headfirst into combat and establishing his dominance. As the conflict grew, so did his own rivalry with Orion Pax - now dubbed Optimus Prime, his counterpart as leader of the Autobot freedom fighters. Even as the battles between the Autobots and the Decepticons raged on past Cybertron’s borders, going so far as to take their war to Earth, Megatron’s willingness to accomplish his goals by whatever means necessary have made him a fearsome foe who will stop at nothing to ensure his enemies are vanquished and his Decepticons reign supreme.

Abilities

Frieza

Frieza Race Abilities

Not much is known about the origins of Frieza’s race as well as their home planet. However, what is known is that they’re a powerful alien race. Frieza and his father King Cold (and possibly Cooler as well) were born mutants due to an accidental spontaneous mutation that occurred within their family. This caused them to be born with an unusual amount of power and develop their known evil personalities. Despite this, Frieza’s race does possess a few known abilities alongside their power.

One of the race’s most known abilities is surviving horrific injuries and still being able to live right after. The best example would be Frieza being still alive after getting sliced in half by one of his Death Saucers during his battle with Goku in the Frieza Saga. After Planet Namek exploded, Frieza (or what remained of him) was shown to still be alive. Further evidence of this racial ability was when Frieza was shown to still be alive after getting sliced in half by Future Trunks. Even after being cut into pieces further, Frieza was still alive (though he did die afterwards when Trunks obliterated pieces of him). After getting revived by the Dragon Balls during the Resurrection F arc in both the move and the anime, Frieza appeared in the mortal realm as pieces rather than whole, and was still shown to be alive. Additionally, Frieza does have some minor healing through transformation. His tail regrew in his fourth form after it was cut off in his second form.

The second known ability possessed by Frieza’s race is the ability to “grow” clothing/natural armor known as Bio Suits. Thus, even when it seems as though a member of Frieza's race is unclothed, they are generally wearing Bio Suits. These natural clothes can be removed at will or replaced with newly grown clothing.

Lastly, Frieza’s race possesses the ability of transformations. Frieza’s own transformations will be explained further, so to make this brief, every member of Frieza’s race can transform into different states either to suppress their own power and maintain self-control over it (Freiza’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd forms) or to increase their power and become even stronger (Cooler’s 5th form and Frieza’s Golden form). Additionally, members of Frieza’s race can modify their bodies synthetically. Examples of this shown by Frieza’s Cosmic Suit when he became Mecha-Frieza, Cooler’s remains fusing with the Big Gete Star, and Frost adding poison needles within his wrists and tail.

Martial Arts Prowess

Frieza is incredibly adept in hand-to-hand combat, being skilled enough to match fighters like Goku and Vegeta, despite them having far more combat training and experience than him

• Tail Attack - A technique Frieza uses in which he uses his tail to attack his opponents, usually whipping or constructing them. Frieza can even extend his tail to a greater length if he wishes
• Ruthless Blow - Frieza charges towards his opponent at high speed, then disappears from his opponent’s line of sight. The opponent suddenly feels a stabbing pain, and discovers to their shock and horror that Frieza has thrusted his hand/palm into their back. Frieza ends the attack by pulling his hand out of the opponent’s back and letting them fall helplessly to the ground
• Frieza Head Smash - A flying headbutt technique Frieza uses
• Death Break - Frieza punches his opponent in the stomach and knocks them away up into the air with two roundhouse kicks. Frieza finishes this move by knocking them down into the ground with a hook kick in their stomach
• Death Raid - Frieza delivers a powerful gut punch to his opponent
• Pressure Point - After his mental training in hell, Frieza learned how to perform pressure point attacks, a type of fighting style in which the user strikes areas of the human body where nerves lie close to the service and are supported by bone or muscle mass. He can even pull a Kenshiro and make his enemies explode.
• Grudgeless Strike - Frieza moves around rapidly before powering up and charges the opponent at full speed to punch them in the face.
• Punishing Rush - Frieza elbows the opponent in the stomach and hits them on their legs with his tail, turning them around. He then double slaps the opponent on their back, knocking them away and teleporting in front to backhand punch them in the face.
• It’s Just Getting Exciting! - Frieza knees the opponent in their stomach and kicks them up into the air. Then, he appears above the opponent to fly down and punch them down into the ground
• 50% Power - Frieza elbows the opponent in their face, teleports behind the opponent and knocks them up off the ground with a low roundhouse kick. Next, he catches the opponent by their neck with his tail and brings them closer to elbow them in the ribs. He finishes the technique by throwing his opponent away with his tail
• You Thought That Was It? - Frieza dashes across the opponent with a punch to their face and flies back and elbows them in the face. He finishes off by punching them down to the ground
• Punishing Counter - When an opponent attempts to attack, Frieza turns around and back kicks them in the face. He then moves behind the opponent and blasts them away with a Death Cannon, inflicting a high amount of damage.
• Sonic Warp - Frieza uses a form of rapid movement that moves so fast it looks like he’s teleporting

Ki

Ki, also known as “latent energy” or “Fighting Power” is the life force energy used by many Dragon Ball characters. Ki is a tangible energy inside every living being, by drawing it out, a skilled individual is able to control it and use it for many different techniques or also use it to increase their strength and durability.

Ki-Based Techniques

• Ki Sense - Like many characters in Dragon Ball, Frieza is able to sense Ki. Ki Sensing is the ability to sense the location, life force, and power level of anyone. Though some Ki users have also learned to hide their power level to not get sensed by others. After his 4 months of training, he even gained the ability to sense Godly Ki, which cannot be sensed by most fighters
• Ki Blast - Basic energy blasts Frieza can fire
• Flight - By manipulating his Ki, Frieza gains the ability to fly.
• Death Beam - Frieza’s signature attack, where he fires a small, but incredibly powerful laser-like attack. He has multiple variations of this move, such as a rapid-fire version and even a version that locks down and chase targets
• Eye Laser - Frieza can shoot laser-like beams from both eyes. The potency of the Eye Laser technique varies, but most of them are very fast and able to nullify weak attacks and small projectiles as well as cripple opponents and damage other objects.
• Death Ball - Frieza’s most powerful technique, where he concentrates his Ki to make a massive ball of energy powerful enough to destroy planets
• Death Wave - To use this technique, Frieza puts his middle and index fingers together and charges an energy sphere on the tips. He then swings the energy sphere around, creating a large Death Beam in the form of a giant, razor-sharp energy blade that can slice through anything.
• Death Comet - Frieza fires several energy waves coming out of the aura around his body.
• Whirlwind Blow - By lightly blowing, Frieza produces strong winds that formed a tornado. Then, the tornado lifts the opponent into the air and throws them a great distance away.
• Death Storm - A massive explosion that surrounds Frieza, which has an island sized area of effect, making it difficult to dodge it
• Death Fork - In his second form, Frieza charges at the opponent to impale them in the chest with one of his horns. Next, he shifts his head up and down, further injuring the opponent and causing more blood to leak out of them. Finally, Frieza throws the opponent off his horn down to the ground
• Nova Strike - Frieza surrounds himself in a sphere of energy and rams himself into his enemy. This attack is powerful enough to push back Goku’s Kamehameha, even in Super Saiyan
• Psycho Barrier - Frieza can use his Ki to create an energy barrier to protect himself from any incoming attacks
• Death Saucer - Totally didn’t steal this from Krillin. Jokes aside, Death Saucer is just as deadly as the move it’s based on. Not only are they powerful, but once Frieza concentrates on his enemy, the attack chases them down relentlessly. However, if Freeza ever loses concentration on them, the attacks can wind up anywhere, and can sometimes harm the user. Frieza learned that the hard way.
• Death Cannon - A blast of energy Frieza charges and fires at his opponent, creating a massive explosion
• Telekinesis - Frieza can manipulate his Ki to use telekinetic attacks. This allows him to trap his foes in a ball of energy (including powerful enough characters like Toppo) and play soccer with them, lift and throw massive mountains, or detonate an opponent's Ki
• Earth Breaker - Frieza’s last ditch effort move. By pressing his palm to the surface of the planet and detonating it with his Ki, Frieza destroys the planet he is currently on.

Megatron

Cybertronian Physiology

Like his allies and enemies, Megatron is a native of the planet Cybertron: a Transformer. Alternatively referred to as Cybertronians, they are a race of shapeshifting alien robots said to be created by Primus, a deity whose body makes up the core of Cybertron itself. Despite being purely mechanical beings, they are as sentient and alive as any other living being can be. Their colloquial name is a reference to their signature ability - one which allows them to scan nearly anything and transform into it. While they normally appear as humanoid robots about the size of a small building, their alternate forms allow them to take on the appearances of weapons, vehicles, animals, and more, complete with whatever benefits such transformations can provide.

A Cybertronian’s ability to transform is tied to several features within their biology. The first is a transforming cog embedded in their minds, which gives them the mental capacity to activate their transformations consciously alongside their brain module. The second is the “living metal” that comprises their bodies, said to be made of the same substance that makes up Cybertron and by extension, Primus himself. Beneath their highly durable exteriors lies a Spark, their lifeforce, and equivalent of a soul. While Cybertronians are capable of withstanding large amounts of damage directed at their body, they can only be considered truly dead if anything were to directly impact their Sparks or otherwise compromise their brain modules.

For the most part, Cybertronians do not rely on breathing air or eating food to replenish themselves. They mainly subsist off Energon, a versatile energy source said to be the building blocks of their very bodies and Sparks and is more or less their own equivalent of food, electricity, blood, fuel, power, and in most cases, a currency for trading and ammunition for specific types of weapons. Almost any material can be processed and converted into Energon with the proper equipment, although its raw form is volatile and unstable; trying to handle it in such a state is dangerous as a stray impact is enough for it to violently explode.

Decepticon Combat Training

As mentioned before, Megatron was a gladiator before founding the Decepticons. As such, he has trained and honed his skills to an insane level, making him one of the most skilled fighters on Cybertron. He’s trained in not only hand-to-hand combat but also most forms of weaponry, most notably maces, swords, etc.

As a military commander, he’s picked up even more combat experience. He’s skilled enough to fight evenly with the likes of Optimus Prime, defeated squads of Junkions even while half-dead, and could process the entire situation of the war live with the Omniglobe. He successfully fought an interplanetary war for over 4 million years, and is one of the most skilled Cybertronian combatants alive. Even if he does need to retreat a few dozen times.

Black Hole Up-Link

Using the spacebridge technology installed into his body, the Decepticon leader can form a remote link to a black hole in distant space. This allows him to siphon antimatter mined from it as both a weapon and an energy source. The black hole link’s power truly shines, though, in its space-time warping properties. At one point, Megatron was cast adrift in transwarp, on the edge of oblivion. His connection to the black hole allowed him to save himself, transferring his spark countless years into the future. There, he was able to possess the dying body of Reverse Convoy, an autobot who also used a link to a black hole, with this connection allowing Megatron to take over his consciousness. By traveling back through the Blasty Zone his temporal displacement had opened, Megatron was able to immediately return to his present conflict in an all-new body. He was eventually expelled from this new form, however, and transferred back to his rematerialised original body. Presumably, Megatron should be able to do this with any Transformer who uses a black hole link across the timeline, saving himself from death.

Antimatter Manipulation

By far one of the Decepticon leader’s most esoteric abilities, yet arguably his deadliest. When particularly enraged, Megatron can, in a last gambit, draw upon antimatter mined from the distant black hole mentioned above and channel it through his body. This manifests as a sort of aura of antimatter that surrounds Megatron. As long as he can retain stability, Megatron can control and direct it, with this antimatter being so strong as to obliterate even the most powerful Transformers with ease, such as the entire Decepticon Justice Division. If, however, Megatron loses control, the antimatter takes a different form. Instead of being essentially just a weapon, it begins to directly react with everything it comes into contact with, as the antimatter reacts with matter to bypass defenses and explode. This becomes lethal to all, even Megatron himself. He runs the risk of killing himself at this point, so this ability is only to be used in dire situations. If it becomes too dangerous though, he can deactivate the antimatter, or try teleporting away before it detonates upon himself.

Arsenals

Frieza

Hover Pod

Frieza’s hover pod is a floating, egg-shaped vehicle that he uses as a means of transportation. Even though he is extraordinarily powerful and perfectly capable of walking and flying, Frieza (in his first form) seems to prefer using the hover pod as a means of getting around, even inside his own spaceship. While the true reason for him using the hover pod is unknown, it’s quite possible that he sees it as a status symbol.

Scouter

Before the Frieza Saga, Frieza was unable to detect ki. As a result, he and the rest of his soldiers had to rely on the use of scouters as a way to calculate the individual power level or ki concentration of their opponents by converting the readings into numbers. Further, it can also tell a person’s location. Therefore, it allows Frieze to detect hidden opponents or alert him of any incoming threats. Additionally, scouters also serve the purpose of gathering information, interstellar communication, keep track of time, and provide precise aiming.

However, scouters possess numerous disadvantages and limitations. For one thing, they can’t automatically calculate a person’s true power level. They can only calculate the power level a person is currently at. A person trained in ki control can lower their power level on purpose, fooling scouter users into thinking they have a lower power level than their real level. Another disadvantage is that scouters may explode on certain conditions. Such conditions are the scouter overloading whenever it detects a high power level or when a power level is rapidly increasing. In fact, a highly trained individual can raise their power level so fast and instantaneously that even newly improved scouters couldn’t register the sudden and momentary increase. Furthermore, scouters have a maximum limit at high of a power level they can measure before giving blank readings. Finally, a scouter’s last disadvantage is that it can’t detect God ki. This is possibly due to the divine nature of God ki or simply because Scouters are only designed to detect normal ki.

Megatron

Fusion Cannon

Mounted on his right arm, this is Megatron’s primary weapon, capable of shooting blasts of energy powerful enough to incapacitate most Autobots and even punch right through them. 

Energon Mace

Megatron is a master of hand to hand combat and can fight with virtually any weapon, but his main weapon of choice is a spiked ball & chain made of Energon. Megatron is able to use this to combat Optimus Prime’s axe, and is even able to spin it fast enough to act similar to helicopter blades(which makes no sense because he can fly on his own, but eh, whatever).

Much like we pointed out with Optimus’ Energon Axe, it’s worth mentioning that Megatron has only used this weapon in one episode of the G1 cartoon. But, much like Optimus, he’s used it in other G1 sources such as the comics and video games, so it’s safe to use.

Rail Gun

Because one gun wasn’t enough he also has another! As the man said in the image above this thing can destroy an entire city in one shot without even being fully charged.

Space Bridge

These portals allow for Cybertronians to easily warp intergalactic distances instantly. While usually made through specific gates which must be constructed first, certain bodies of Megatron’s have the ability to create space bridge portals directly.

Energon Shield

Weapons aren’t the only things that Energon can create. Megatron is able to generate an arm-mounted shield capable of blocking things like a shot from Starscream, and even attacks from the likes of Optimus and Bumblebee.

Buzzsaw

For some reason, Megatron is able to spawn a buzzsaw out of his arm and fire it as a projectile.

Arm Cannon

It’s basically his fusion cannon except it shoots out of his arm as opposed to a cannon attached to his arm.

Optic Weaponry

Pretty much a fancy term for eye lasers.

Forcefield Generator

This was a piece of technology originally used by the Autobot Trailbreaker (or Trailcutter/Trailblazer, blame trademarks), a natural part of his body due to his Outlier physiology. After being brutally murdered by Vos and Kaon of the Decepticon Justice Division, Megatron salvaged Trailbreaker’s corpse, and spent months attempting to incorporate the tech into himself. Eventually, he succeeded, using his antimatter as an energy supply to fuel the so-called “Panic Bubbles” and make them even more powerful. Megatron can manually create these bubbles, and alter them in size. They are incredibly durable, to the point where even some of the strongest Transformers such as the DJD can’t break through them. A single bubble was tough enough to withstand all of Megatron’s antimatter detonating at once, an explosion which was sure to kill him and obliterate half the planet he was fighting on. Megatron can also let other people through the shields to trap them, preventing escape.

Forms

Frieza

Like many characters in Dragon Ball, Frieza is able to increase his energy and reach a more powerful state. However, much like most people in his race, Frieza has multiple transformations in order to suppress and control his power output and only transforms when he feels it’s needed.

First Form

Frieza’s first form, despite being his weakest, is still incredibly powerful, capable of destroying planets while in this form, and after 4 months of training, defeated Gohan and Piccolo without much effort.

Second Form

While it may look like he just took a Super Mushroom, Frieza’s second form shouldn’t be underestimated. His power and speed increase to a monstrous degree, and his horns can be used for impalement. Just ask Krillin.

Third Form

Despite being a clone of a Xenomorph, Frieza’s third form increases his physicality to higher levels.

Final Form

Frieza’s original and final form may not look like much at first glance, but he has immense power and speed in this form. He can easily match and surpass incredibly tough fighters such as Goku and Vegeta, even when they obtain the power of gods.

100% Full Power

Frieza’s full power is an absolute monster to face. Not only does his strength skyrocket even further, but his speed increases as well despite gaining bulky muscles. However, this form has a drawback: due to having not mastered his full power, his strength and stamina decrease the longer it’s used, though he seems to have overcome this flaw after his 4 months of training, with no veins popping out and his muscles being more controlled.

Golden Frieza

Frieza’s golden form is the ultimate evolution of his race. After getting revived by his soldiers in Resurrection F, the emperor decided he should train for the first time in his life after being told Goku had gotten stronger since their last battle. After four months of training, Frieza obtained his Golden Form and chose the color to mock Goku’s Super Saiyan form. This transformation allows Frieza to be on par with Goku in his Super Saiyan Blue form. However, during his rematch with Goku, it was revealed that due to not fully mastering his newfound power, his stamina and power decrease the longer he’s in it, which led to his downfall once again. However, this flaw seems to have been resolved after his mental training in Hell, where he not only grew stronger, but is now able to maintain his Golden Form for much longer periods of time.

Megatron 

Walther P38

It a gun it shÜt

One of Megatron’s most famous alternate modes, he becomes a handgun, which comes with a stock and a silencer.

It should be worth noting that the G1 show usually has Megatron’s gun mode wielded by one of his subordinates(usually Soundwave or Starscream), but auxiliary media such as the video games show that Megatron can aim and shoot by himself.

Tank Form

Basically Megatron’s gun mode on treads. This is the form that most modern G1 media has him transform. Can shoot and crash into things.

Stealth Bomber Form

After being gravely damaged in a climactic battle with his nemesis, Optimus Prime, Megatron was reconstructed in this new and even more powerful stealth bomber body. Connected to space bridge nodes from the Titan Metroplex alongside Megatron’s own black hole up-link, it can freely open space bridge portals, which can be used for teleportation within a certain range, or for sending away other objects through the portals. Comes equipped with the aforementioned rail gun.

Galvatron

After receiving a life-threatening beatdown from Optimus Prime, Megatron was summoned by the planet-eating monster, Unicron, who reformatted him and some of his troops into more powerful bodies. Megatron had become the insane and maniacal Galvatron. 

As Galvatron, instead of a gun or a tank, he transforms into a cannon on wheels, with many of the same abilities his previous forms gave him, alongside serious mental instability.

Super Megatron

After being crushed under an iceberg in the year 2011, Galvatron had seemingly been vanquished for good, remaining inactive for at least 14 more years. That was until the mysterious evil force known as Dark Nova arrived, beaming a blast of energy directly into the makeshift tomb. Galvatron had been revived as Super Megatron. This form is similar to his original body, transforming into a Cybetronian jet. It is capable of fighting evenly with Star Convoy, a being fueled by the power of the Zodiac, which is supposedly the big bang which created all life.

Ultra Megatron

Injured again after another battle with the Battlestars, Dark Nova upgraded Super Megatron into the even more weaponised Ultra Megatron. Now transforming into a Cybertronian tank, it joined his benefactor in a final battle against the Battlestars. He was eventually destroyed, however, with his damaged parts falling into the hands of the merciless Lord High Governor, Straxus. Weaknesses

Frieza

Frieza’s power, skill, and natural prowess as a combatant have truly made him one of the deadliest combatants in the universe, but it has also made him extremely arrogant in his abilities as well. Unless pushed to the brink, he delights in drawing out his enemies’ suffering more than killing them outright, giving them enough time to recover and plot out a counter-attack. This has led to some of his most humiliating defeats throughout Dragon Ball canon, including beatdowns and deaths at the hands of Goku, Future Trunks, and Broly.

Also, he has had noted troubles in maintaining his more powerful forms over the course of longer fights, which can lead to tapping out of his ki pools quickly.

Megatron

Megatron freaking loves calling for a retreat.

All joking aside, much like most 80s bad guys (and even his opponent, actually), Megatron is arrogant to a fault. He constantly thinks he’s the most powerful being in the universe, yet he gets his metal ass handed to him in every episode. Even when he had Optimus himself on death’s door, his arrogance led to a borderline mutual kill. He’s also been overthrown as Decepticon commander several times in the comics, dude just can’t keep his position for long.

Time to cram like I’ve never crammed before. (Okay, not really. Probably belongs to about 90% of all my university work.)

Setting aside the enormous wall of text to explain why this fight is hype and should be a thing, Frieza VS Megatron is a hella close encounter where there’s no true clear and cut winner based on the advantages both sides are packing given everything that encompasses their respective loadouts:

On average, we know both are capable of hitting hard enough at a low-multiversal level thanks to stuff like the Tournament of Power and the Dead Universe or scaling to folk like SSB Goku and Optimus Prime. Whoever has the definitive lead with regards to destructive capability will depend on what you’re willing to accept, so this is a toss-up. What isn’t is Frieza’s undeniable speed advantage, since his feats and scaling put him at several figures higher than Megatron, enough to potentially blitz him. Sure, Megs might be more of a glutton for punishment in the sense that he’d likely not be deterred from advancing further if Frieza threw hands, but I don’t want to take too much stock in that. All that said, Frieza looks to edge out on stats, although again, to what degree Megatron can come back from this is up to your own interpretation of Dragon Ball and Transformers feats.

On the flipside, Megatron holds more clear cut supplemental avantages. He benefits from more formal training as both a combatant and a tactician, as well as a much longer life span taking part in many different wars, contrasting Frieza’s arrogance, relative lack of interest in training and simply not being alive for a fraction as long as his opponent has. Also, antimatter isn’t something that’s existed in Dragon Ball to my knowledge, so Frieza isn’t resisting it should he get tagged. He’d be able to retaliate well enough with a more robust set of techniques, but the advantage isn’t large enough to shut down Megatron’s own ranged attacks in the meantime.

So overall, we’re left with Frieza having a lead on stats which can be argued complementing several other advantages from Megatron that are much more decisive. Question then on my end is finding out who’d come out on top, and just from what I’ve seen, I think this’ll still end up benefiting the ol’ bucket of bolts, but just barely. We’re talking about a 6-4 matchup that can go either way, lads and ladettes; I’m personally of the opinion that the stat advantage Freezer has isn’t enough to clinch this, and with Megatron already holding more obvious leads over Frieza that he can feasibly take advantage of - like say using Frieza’s own arrogance against him, it should be enough to eke out more wins than not for him.

I am so glad that this match was chosen as one of the blogs we can do. Freeza (that’s his real name fuck you) vs Megatron is my most wanted fight, featuring 2 characters I absolutely love, with the former being my favorite character...period. It also has really cool connections and is such a close and fun debate. And the CDB made Ben seem interested in it. Hopefully we get to see this match happen in the future.

I’ll get the obvious out of the way. Megatron is undeniably more experienced than Freeza. Freeza, as far as we know, has only trained for 4 months, probably a tiny bit more. Meanwhile, Megatron was a professional Gladiator prior to the war for many, many years. His time in the war also means he should overall have more combat experience and skill considering how he’s a trained military leader and has been leading his side in a war for over 4 million years, which also makes him more tactical in combat than Freeza. With that said, Freeza is also quite tactical in combat, as shown in the Tournament of Power, and even with his greater experience, I think both should be roughly even when it comes to martial arts/CQC. Freeza, even before training for 4 months, was comparable in skill to fighters like Goku and Vegeta, who likely had just as much, if not more formal combat training than Megatron, and they’re skill is on par with people like Beerus, who is older than Megatron. Overall, while Megatron takes experience handily, skill is roughly even, with a potentially slight edge to Freeza.

In terms of versatility, I’d say both are roughly even. Freeza utilizes his Ki in ways Megatron likely hasn’t, and his techniques are generally more unpredictable, such as his Death Saucers and telekinesis. On the other handMegatron has way more weapons, such as his energy mace, his swords, his fusion cannons, his shitload of guns, etc., all the while being able to replicate a lot of his opponent’s abilities like flight, hand blasts, and barriers. Speaking of barriers, Megatron’s are also pretty damn good, considering how not even some of the top tier fighters in his verse could break through them. That said, I don’t think they’re a groundbreaking advantage like some have been saying.

For one, has I have mentioned, Freeza also has barriers, and they’re probably just as durable, considering how they were able to protect Freeza from a massive explosion done by Broly, who could compete with even Goku and Vegeta. Second...I heavily question even giving Megatron the shields. He took the forcefield generator from Trailbreaker's corpse in issue 35, and later used it for the only time in issue 55, when he contained a large antimatter explosion. At the last second, Rodimus teleported Megatron out, but the forcefield remained in place to contain the explosion. Meaning he left the force-field generator behind, and there's as far as I can see no proof that he ever retrieved it. The fact that he apparently never used the shields after this also lends credence to the idea that he doesn't have it anymore. Regardless, even if we do give him the shields, I don’t think they’re a groundbreaking advantage, as Freeza can do the same thing as him, and they’re arguably just as durable. Not only that, but Freeza has telekinesis, which can likely affect Megatron past the barriers. So overall, I think both are even in this category, with Megatron having overall more options but Freeza having more reliable and useful tricks up his sleeve...or purple thing.

Freeza easily outranges Megatron. The best range I’ve seen Megs have is just a few hundred meters, with his antimatter having a range of possibly planetary. When you compare that to Freeza, who easily has planetary in just his FIRST form to potentially universal range, there’s not a lot of room to discuss who has the advantage here.

So Freeza has more deadly options for attacking and has better range, Megatron has more versatility and experience, and they’re both even in skill and can make barriers to protect themselves. So at this point, the fight comes down to who has the overall superior stats. I’m gonna start off with Freeza.

Before I do, I would like to address something. I’ve seen some people doubt the whole Universe 7 macrocosm, saying that it’s only one universe. I disagree with this, and there’s sufficient enough evidence as to why. Videl states that Heaven is as big as the universe, which is supported by the Daizenshu. Heaven has its own flow of time, meaning it is a space-time continuum. The Demon World is stated to be comparable in size to the mortal universe. It is impossible for regular movements to let you go from the living universe to the afterlife. I got some of this stuff from this blog. I could go on and on but I don’t want to be here forever. My point is that there’s sufficient enough evidence to show U7 is a macrocosm with entirely separate space time continuum’s. Why is this important? Well, it was stated multiple times by the narrator that the clash between SSG Goku and Beerus was going to destroy the entirety of Universe 7. So 3 universe level, pretty good. But it doesn’t end there my friends, oh no. Right here, both Vados and Whis state that Beerus and Champa, had they continued fighting, would destroy both Universe 6 and 7. Both Beerus and Champa would be withstanding their combined power when they clashed, and thus, they would have durability and attack potency on the scale of 3-6 universes, as U6 should have the same structure as Universe 7. BoG arc Goku fought on par with Beerus, putting his AP and durability at 3-6 universe level, and Freeza can fight, and even surpass SSB Goku, making him upscale from that feat by a pretty damn good amount.

Speed for Freeza is relatively easy to find out. Beerus scales to 3/4th the speed of Whis, who is casually 500 quadrillion c, so Beerus is casually 375 quadrillion c. Golden Freeza = Blue Goku = Casual Beerus. But there’s a higher argument you can make: the shockwaves caused by Goku and Beerus. I don’t see an issue with scaling them to this: they moved in tandem with it and it was directly caused by their Ki. Ki, as shown many times in Dragon Ball, enhances physicality, and if the shockwaves are a result of their Ki, well, it’s logical that they can fight and react at those same speeds. Doing so would give you high quadrillions to possibly even low quintillion’s c. But some might have an issue with that so, fuck it. 375 quadrillion c it is.

Now for Megatron, and I’m going to be frankly honest, some of the stuff given to Megatron is uh. Sus as hell lol. Like, the guy got bitch slapped by Regenesis Shockwave, who did the low multi feat, and Shockwave even stated he was > Optimus. But whatever, benefit of the doubt and all that. Nova Prime alone should support uni-low multi IDW. Megatron fought Nova Prime and shattered D-Void, the literal manifestation of the Dead Universe. So solidly Uni and potentially low multi for Megs, very nice.

Speed is difficult to figure out. There’s plenty of interstellar travel feats in Transformers, but the fastest one is Optimus clearing the Hate Plague with a blast from the Matrix, which gets 24 quadrillion c. People say that characters scale because Starscream reacted to it. Sounds simple enough. But. Starscream didn’t even react to the attack. Like at all

 

If you’re confused by what’s happening, I’ll explain: Starscream got obliterated by a blast from the Matrix. He didn’t even dodge or move in tandem with it. The guy just got obliterated lmao. The closest you can argue to this being a speed feat is saying he perceived it (hence the screaming and all), but I don’t know how the fuck that would even scale to reactions. A human can perceive a bullet, but they’re not supersonic in speed or some shit. It’s the exact same thing here, where Starscream perceived the beam, but didn’t do anything to justify scaling him to its speed. But you know what, fuck it, I’ll give it to him for the benefit of the doubt and Megatron scales.

I think it says a lot that when even giving Megatron the benefit of the doubt with stats, he still comes out short. Megatron could scale to Shockwave’s low multiversal feat, but Freeza scales to his low multi feat more solidly and he upscales a damn good bit from it. Like, even taking the lowest interpretation of the U7 macrocosm, Freeza still has an AP advantage (albeit it isn’t massive). What is massive however is the speed advantage. Not gonna lie, I’m not a fan of how some people are saying that 24 quadrillion c vs 375 quadrillion c isn’t blitz territory. Like, try fighting someone nearly 16x faster than you, see how well you’ll do against them. The answer in case you're curious is that you wouldn’t do well against them because you wouldn’t be able to perceive their movements, and that’s the exact same situation here.

So Freeza has a slight AP advantage and a big speed advantage. Megatron’s best shot at this point is his antimatter, which can definitely one shot Freeza. However, I don’t think the antimatter is good enough to change my mind. For one, Freeza still has a 16x speed advantage, there’s no reason he wouldn’t be able to easily dodge it. And second, Freeza’s Ki barriers should be able to protect him from the antimatter. The only argument I see for Freeza getting hit by it is his arrogance, but I don’t think that’s a solid enough argument. Freeza is arrogant, yes, but not to the point where he’ll stand still like a fucking idiot and get hit by the antimatter. Not only that, but I feel like we’re forgetting how arrogant Megatron is as well. Don’t get me wrong, he’s definitely more tactical in combat, but he’s arrogant and cocky to a fault, arguably to the same level as Freeza. Hell, his arrogance is what led to his death in one of his incarnations. I think saying Freeza’s arrogance would be his downfall and not applying the same to Megatron isn’t fair at all. Regardless, my point is that Freeza can easily dodge the antimatter, or even just protect himself from it.

This fight is very close, and I do think Megatron’s experience, more varied weaponry, tactics, and antimatter will put up one hell of a fight, and even let him win in some scenarios, but overall, I think Freeza’s advantages in most other categories are too good for me to reliably say Megatron one shots with the antimatter more times than not. He’s just as strong, if not stronger, has deadlier techniques and abilities, blitzes to shit, is roughly even in combat skill, and has better range. The Decepticon will certainly pose a challenge for the galactic emperor, but I think Freeza should solidly take this 60/40. Megatron will put up a Golden fight, but he’s gonna be freezing in the face of death. Yeah, bad pun, I know.

I’ve made it no secret that I’m a Transformers fan, even just reviewing one of the franchises many video games. Yes, I just plugged my own video in a Death Battle prediction blog, why do you ask? Anyway, not only is it one of the first franchises I ever got into, and not only does it have my favorite character ever, as I said in that character’s blog, but it’s also been around for most of my life. I watched a lot of the shows, collected a lot of the toys, and watched all the movies(yes, all of them). And while I can’t say I’m a fan of Frieza, I still support this matchup 100%. And to see DB take notice of it and do it as a Community battle is actually kinda cool(even if the discussion itself was trash, but whatever). Ben has expressed interest in this idea, but was curious if it would really be that fun if Frieza really wins as easily as it seemed back then. So it’s our job to prove that, shall we say, there’s more to this matchup than meets the eye. Eh?

Also, I sat through the Prime Wars Trilogy and binged the(poorly aged) G1 show for research, so I hope you're happy.

So let’s get the obvious things out of the way before getting into the stats. There’s no denying Megatron’s the more experienced fighter. Even before he became leader of the Decepticons and fought in the Great War(which, by the way, lasted millions of years), Megatron served as a gladiator of Kaon, proving to be one of, if not the greatest fighter on Cybertron. Not to say Frieza’s a slouch when it comes to experience or combat training, but Megatron’s just on a whole other level. Megatron should also be more versatile, given his alternate forms and the like. 

Megatron has plenty of ways of holding Frieza off and putting him down if given the chance. His comparable destructive capacity(if not better depending on what you accept) would be able to damage/ kill Frieza, his barriers should be able to keep Frieza at bay(I know Frieza has barriers too, but it sounds to me like Megatron’s are at least a tad more reliable), his space bridge technology can teleport him away, and as far as I know, Frieza should have no counter to antimatter. 

I’d also argue Megatron to be smarter than Frieza given his(albeit accidental) creation of Kremzeek. Not to say Frieza’s an idiot per se, but decisions like “Fight Goku as soon as I obtained a new form without training to regulate it” miiiiiiight not have been the smartest move. 

The biggest hurdle I see in the way of Megatron’s victory here is Frieza’s speed. I won’t deny that Frieza has a very comfortable speed advantage. Not completely blitz worthy, but still pretty big. Both should comfortably scale to Quadrillions FTL, with Frieza being higher. Given the comparable power, Frieza’s superior speed should naturally net him the win.

Emphasis on “should”.

At the end of the day, yes, Frieza is faster, but aside from a few small things like superior range and what not, that’s all that Frieza really has in the way of a comfortable advantage. Stuff like destructive potential is very debatable between the two depending on what you accept, but it’s never to a degree of a statstomp. Either Megatron is slightly higher, or Frieza is. 

Another issue is both will probably attempt to tank through a few attacks from one another. That’s just in their character to do, but I would argue Frieza is a bit more guilty of this trait. In his battle with Goku in Resurrection of F, he thought his golden form would be way more than enough to take Goku down, even after Goku showed off his new form. I’m not saying Megatron isn’t a cocky & arrogant fighter, because he definitely is, but not only do I think Frieza is worse in that regard, but I also feel like Megatron’s experience and intellect will prevent him from being too arrogant around an opponent as powerful as Frieza. 

It might sound like I’m stretching for arguments here(and I actually might be), but I just feel more comfortable with Megatron’s several clear advantages over Frieza’s one. With the stuff I mentioned before with how many options Megatron has of taking Frieza out, compared to Frieza’s speed edge I have doubts he would take advantage of(at least at first), I just think Megatron has more numbered/ likely ways of winning.

And all of this is without mentioning stuff like Galvatron, or Super/Ultra Megatron.

And after this mess of a verdict, I’m comfortable with giving the Leader of the Decepticons and Emperor of Destruction the win.

We’re still on Death Battle break, and I’m starting to become really impatient on who Beerus’ opponent might be. I’m fine with whoever as long as it’s not Jean Grey/Phoenix. Speaking of Beerus though, we have another character from the Dragon Ball franchise. That’s right, it’s the evil emperor himself. Frieza! In this blog, he’s being matched up against the Decepticons leader Megatron. While Ben and Chad have acknowledged Megatron to be Frieza’s most requested opponent, they’re still not sure if this match-up is worth making an episode on. That’s why it’s up to us to prove that it is.

Anyway, let’s get this first part out of the way. Both characters are low multiverse level. There’s no doubt about it. As a result, their strength and durability are very comparable with each other’s. However, it can be argued that Frieza is slightly stronger than Megatron, which can be an advantage for the Dragon Ball villain. However, it should be noted that Megatron has the experience advantage since he lived for “countless eons” as stated by Optimus in the Optimus Prime VS Gundam Death Battle. So with those dealt with, time to move on to the areas that makes this match-up debatable.

Frieza has his variety of Ki and martial art techniques at his disposal while Megatron has his weapons. However, Frieza’s techniques have a greater versatility advantage than Megatron’s weapons. In addition, Frieza can use his techniques at a greater range than Megatron can do with his weapons. It should also be noted that Megatron only had his forcefield generator for a short period of time, so it shouldn’t be counted as standard. And while Megatron has more forms that don't restrict his power, they also don’t increase his power.

Now let’s talk about their transformations. Initially, Frieza’s Golden form has been a problem for the character as it drained his stamina and energy. However, that’s no longer the case. After some mental training, Frieza was able to master his Golden form and even match a more powerful Super Saiyan Blue Goku. As for Megatron, he doesn’t have direct access to his super forms. In many G1 continuities, “Galvatron” has been portrayed as a form given to Megatron by separate entities such as Unicron or as a completely separate entity himself. He’s never portrayed as a being that Megatron can transform into by himself. The same thing also applies to the “Super Megatron” and “Ultra Megatron” forms as both were given to Megatron by Dark Nova as permanent forms. Therefore, Megatron will be stuck in base form throughout the fight.

Now, people will be bringing up Megatron’s antimatter manipulation. Antimatter, in the Transformers’ G1 universe, is able to bypass durability and is something that Megatron can control at the risk of his own life. While Frieza won’t be able to resist Megatron’s antimatter, the evil emperor still has ways to avoid getting hit by it. Telekinesis and ki barriers. With telekinesis, Frieza can move objects with his mind. As a result, he can just use his telekinesis to toss the antimatter out of the way or keep it away from him. In addition, the evil emperor can also trap any incoming antimatter within a psychic ball and send it back to Megatron. Hell, he can trap Megatron inside a psychic ball with the antimatter. Last but not least, Frieza can use his telekinesis to detonate. He can use it on Megatron, making him explode. It’s possible he could do the same with the antimatter, but that’s debatable. However, constantly making Megatron explode will force the Decepticon leader to lose concentration and cause the antimatter to become lethal for him. Other than telekinesis, I also mentioned that Frieza can create energy barriers to protect himself. Therefore, he can just protect himself from the antimatter with an energy shield.

Lastly, there’s speed. Frieza has the advantage over Megatron, and it’s a pretty big dealbreaker. The fastest speed feat that Megatron scales to is worth 24 quadrillion times the speed of light. The fastest speed feat that Frieza scales to is worth 375 quadrillion times the speed of light. That’s nearly a 16x speed difference. That’s more than enough for Frieza to blitz Megatron and even kill the Decepticon before he could react. Hell, this speed gap also means that Frieza can dodge the antimatter or make sure Megatron doesn’t trap him in a barrier cage.

Something else just came up that caught my attention. I noticed that some of my fellow verdict writers are stating that Frieza’s arrogance will contribute to him losing. I am here to say that it won’t be the case, or rather it shouldn’t be the case.

In Megatron’s own weakness section within this blog, it’s written that his arrogance is his biggest weakness and had led to him dying once. However, I’m seeing other verdicts (who are voting for Megatron) using Frieza’s arrogance as a contributing factor for him losing. But for some reason, they’re not using Megatron’s own arrogance as a factor? If you’re going to use a combatant’s own weakness against them, then you should do the same thing with their opponent. It feels like the verdict writers who are using Frieza’s arrogance as a contributing factor but not Megatron’s are just playing favorites. And yeah, Frieza’s arrogant. Big whoop. But anyone who watched Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super knows that if a fight doesn’t go in his favor, Frieza becomes serious. This has been shown in his fights against Goku, Vegeta, Toppo, Jiren, and Broly. Despite the outcomes of those fights, Frieza will get serious when the situation calls for it. Therefore, Frieza’s arrogance wouldn’t and shouldn’t lead to his downfall in this fight.

Overall, Frieza has the advantage in speed, range, maneuverability, and possibly strength and durability as well. While Megatron's antimatter manipulation could pose a threat, the evil emperor can get around it with his telekinesis, energy fields, and superior speed. Frieza will take the golden opportunity to show why he's the Cooler combatant with this win. Anyway, this blog should be released on the Fourth of July. Enjoy the fireworks, everyone!

Megatron holds most auxiliary advantages here. He’s far more experienced and skilled with his millions of years of combat and gladiator training, he’s far smarter and more strategic, and he holds a fair versatility advantage. Frieza’s combat training only amounts to a few months, and while certainly not dumb, his arrogance has been a consistent and recurring problem that has led to numerous losses over his history. While Ki is certainly useful, Frieza doesn't utilise it to its fullest degree compared to other characters in the franchise, mainly just sticking to generic energy blasts and enhanced physical strikes. Megatron, meanwhile, has access to a similar array of long ranged attacks (albeit likely utilised less in combat compared to Frieza), has better defensive options with his panic bubbles, and can end the fight immediately with his anti-matter. The question then becomes if he can actually land something like that, and if not, how he would fare in an extended fight with Frieza. Up-close, Megatron likely has an advantage. That’s not to say Frieza isn’t skilled, he’s utilised his tail for unexpected attacks before and has kept up in combat with many hardened martial artists, but the main thing to point out is that he usually only manages to keep up due to his physical superiority. In most fights Frieza has been in, he’s either held a major physical advantage, allowing him to dodge every attack from even more skilled opponents or just outright walk through them, or was woefully outmatched in pure power, leaving him incapable of fighting back or dodging any attacks, even while those similar to Frieza in power but more skilled were capable of lasting far longer against the same opponent. Just look at how Frieza is taken out almost immediately while Vegeta kicks away Toppo’s attacks before they can land up-close, despite the two being fairly similar in terms of power. There aren’t many instances of Frieza fighting someone actually close to him in power, but I think the best example would be his first fight with SSB Goku. He actually does fairly well here, but even then, he’s mainly reliant on his physical strength, tanking all of Goku’s attacks and constantly barraging him with hits in order to limit his room to counter. Of note is that he particularly likes to grapple with his tail, using it several times to just choke the enemy by the neck and prevent them from attacking by just holding them a distance away. I think that’s a good demonstration of Frieza’s fighting style being about suppressing the opponent and preventing them from attacking in the first place, utilising both grappling and a constant onslaught of physical strikes to give the enemy no time to build up attack, while mainly using energy blasts to just maintain distance and stun the opponent so he can close the gap quickly and grapple or combo. Of note is that Frieza is usually left unable to stop anybody who does manage to land a serious hit or escape his grapple. While quick on the response to Goku’s follow up hit, Frieza is forced to break his grapple entirely when Goku bites it, and resorts back to standard close-quarters combat. At the end of the fight, when Goku simply pushes through one of Frieza’s largest hits and lands a devastating punch of his own, Frieza is immediately overwhelmed, and is on his knees pretty much immediately. While this was an earlier fight for him where he still drained stamina quickly, if his complete failures against Toppo and Broly are anything to go by, he still struggles greatly against opponents who manage to maintain their ground and land their own attacks. Comparing that to Megatron, I’ll be focusing mainly on the IDW incarnation of the character, because Ramen told me to and who am I to disagree? Megatron got his origins as a gladiator, and so is used to taking a lot more sustained punishment than Frieza before fighting back, even when an enemy manages to break his offence. When pushed to his knees, unlike Frieza, he’s capable of taking more hits and serious damage and can still fight back. The guy can take a lot of punishment and still fight back and win at his most grievously injured. These weren’t just small-fry either. While injured and derelict, he still managed to defeat Scorponok, one of the most powerful and intelligent Decepticon leaders and beat him to near-death. Even hits from combiners like Devastator don’t take him out, and he’s more than capable of fighting while under a grapple. That’s not to undersell Frieza’s own survivability though, he has managed to survive sustained beatdowns from people like Broly and SSJ Goku, but in both instances, he really wasn’t able to do much serious damage to them right back. He was capable of still fighting even while torn in half, but his attacks were clearly way weaker, with Goku hardly struggling to defend against it. Hell, the only reason Frieza was still even alive at that point was because Goku repeatedly spared him when he had the opportunity to kill, with Frieza in no position to stop something like that. I think the difference in survivability between the two is fairly clear overall. Frieza was capable of fighting back even when bisected, but so was Megatron, and unlike Frieza, his opponent wasn’t sparing him and holding back on the kill. Megatron has routinely been left standing even after attacks that have blown him apart, and is capable of winning even after the fact against opponents who eclipse him in power. Frieza has never won in a similar state that didn’t require outside help. Megatron was capable of repairing half his body by his lonesome while missing an arm and his legs before taking on entire squads of other Transformers, while Frieza almost killed himself in that same state and required a rescue to repair himself. Megatron’s sheer resilience essentially counters Frieza’s main fighting style, as he’s more than capable of taking the pain of Frieza’s hits and striking back, a style which has repeatedly left Frieza on his knees. Grappling is unlikely to work either. Not only does Megatron’s sheer size make that unlikely, Optimus raising and tipping an entire oil tanker is far above any lifting strength feats in Dragon Ball. The only one I can think of that comes close is early DBS Goku lifting these weights on King Kai’s planet, but even that doesn’t seem quite on par, and Megatron routinely grapples with both Optimus and colossal robots like Devastator. All of Frieza’s go-to techniques in combat are things Megatron has dealt with before, and we’ve seen how Frieza struggles immensely against people who can resist his offence like his opponent can, all the while Frieza has never displayed the technique to match Megatron’s combat experience. Even a speed advantage, I’d argue, would not be enough for Frieza to compensate. Obviously being able to react in say, 20 milliseconds while their opponent can only react in 200 milliseconds, or average human reaction time, would be a huge advantage. Anybody who could react that fast could easily become a world class boxer, it’s a big enough advantage to compensate for pretty much anything short of your opponent wearing a full plate of armour. In Frieza’s case specifically though, I don’t think it stacks up. As seen in the fight with SSB Goku, Frieza held a power advantage the entire time, yet Goku’s skill and ability to counter Frieza’s grappling and barrage of attacks let him get the hits he needed to overwhelm Frieza. Sure, the difference between the two wasn't 8-10x, but we’ve seen Frieza fight against foes who are that much weaker than him, such as Cabba, and he lets them attempt to get hits in and sometimes just outrights walks through attacks. While not exactly comparable, Megatron has faced similarly overwhelming opponents before, such as a swarm of Junkions while he was half-dead, and he was still capable of persevering through their attacks despite being unable to dodge them all. That suggests that Megatron can likely take enough of Frieza’s attacks to land a hit of his own, and as shown above, Frieza is stunned by serious hits far more than Megatron is. Being able to react in 20 milliseconds doesn’t matter as much if that time is spent recoiling from the pain of a hit, and Megatron has gotten back up immediately and continued a fight even after half his torso has been blown off, while Frieza is left near-helpless in similar states. It’s unlikely Frieza can knock Megatron down for as long as Megatron can knock down him, which is what Megatron needs to land a hit in the first place, especially with his sheer size. At any range, Megatron holds a notable advantage.

That’s not getting into Megatron’s other abilities either. Frieza’s flight doesn’t mean much when he doesn’t use it in combat too greatly, and Megatron can just trap him in a panic bubble and prevent him from escaping. Speaking of, Megatron’s panic bubbles are a far better defensive option than any of Frieza’s limited Ki barriers, and further help to nullify Frieza’s offense and just wear him down. It’s less of a problem for him now, but Frieza has struggled greatly against opponents who can just tire him out and force him to expend his energy in the past, and the panic bubble is a great tool to exploit that. Tiring his opponents out is what Megatron used the panic bubble for against the DJD in the link above, so it is a strategy he could think of, albeit he wouldn’t be aware of Frieza’s stamina problems from the get-go. That also leads into Megatron’s anti-matter, which Frieza really has no counter for at all. Megatron’s anti-matter behaves similarly to how it’s speculated to work in real life, causing an explosive reaction upon contact with regular matter. Frieza’s survivability doesn’t matter at that point, because the antimatter will react with his atoms and explode no matter what. Add in the fact that Megatron’s antimatter has enough range to fill up most of his panic bubble, it’s unlikely Frieza can avoid it for long, and when it does get in contact with him, he’s going to be killed. This also further helps to counter any sort of speed advantage, as Frieza can’t get close without risk of getting hit by the antimatter, just due to its sheer volume. Granted, Megatron only uses antimatter when he’s particularly cornered or emotional just due to how dangerous it is, so he won’t bring it out immediately, but if he does, Frieza really has no counter to it. He’s never had experience with an attack like that, the closest being destruction energy, which Toppo essentially destroyed him with. His Ki barriers could potentially block the antimatter given how Megatron’s forcefield stopped the explosion, but Frieza essentially never uses Ki barriers in a fight and he wouldn’t know that they could block it in the first place. He’s never interacted with antimatter before. Plus, it seems more like Megatron’s panic bubble merely stopped the explosion, not the antimatter itself.

All that being said, it doesn’t matter if Megatron just isn’t strong or fast enough to keep up with Frieza in the first place unfortunately. I’m not going to go into stats too much here because I presume the other verdicts will focus on it, but they have fairly similar arguments overall. Both can be argued up to being universe crossing in speed based off of the Matrix curing the entire universe of the Hate Plague in a brief period of time, with some characters seemingly perceiving a blast from the Matrix and others using the Matrix to directly amp up their physicals on Megatron’s side. There’s also stuff like Titan Master Thunderwing being stated to be able to create “waves of destruction across the universe” in his bio and the Well of All-Sparks scanning to the edge of the universe in the Covenant of Primus, but those are a lot more dubious both in validity and scaling to Megatron. On Frieza’s side, the main thing being brought up is Beerus and Goku creating shockwaves across the universe in early DBS, alongside Whis’s travel times and Champa seemingly flying to the Kai Ream in the DBS manga. Both of those feats have the same issue in that the blasts (or characters in Champa’s case) could have just accelerated over time, and in both cases there’s not a clear example of anybody actually reacting to the attacks which makes it iffy to scale it to anybody. Hell, Unicron and Starscream in the Stargate Battles manga both end up getting hit by the Matrix. There’s also a debate over how big the Dragon Ball universe actually is, but I’m not gonna get into that for the sake of brevity and time. Something something 100 gees of acceleration to get to Namek. Strength is a lot simpler, Frieza has shown comparability to characters like SSB Goku, who threatened to destroy the entire universe in his clash with Beerus. Everybody knows of the feat and the arguments for and against it. Megatron meanwhile has taken on and blown apart D-Void/Deceptigod who is the manifestation of the entire Dead Universe (a full-sized universe which was drained of life when it was created), and is comparable to Optimus who could take on Nova Prime, a being who had full control of the Dead Universe’s space-time. Regenesis Shockwave had also drained the Dead Universe of its energy in the first place, and was going to collapse all of space-time and destroy the entire universe outright, though scaling Megatron to that is also pretty iffy given how Shockwave states that he’s stronger than Optimus physically in this state later on. Super Megatron was also an even match for Star Convoy, a being powered by the Zodiac absorbed into his body, which in the Japanese G1 cartoon continuity was literally the Big Bang (it says “galaxy” in these subtitles I believe, but other translations and sources confirm it’s supposed to be the universe as a whole) and had earlier been used to create the Legends world, which was an entire universal stream. Again, there’s plenty of arguments you could make against both here (the shockwaves got stronger as they went on so they don’t scale, reality warping doesn’t scale to physicals, it’s outliers for Transformers characters, etc.), but like I said, I think Frieza and Megatron would end up around the same place stats wise with similar levels of scrutiny applied to both no matter what you accept for either.

So, it really just comes down to stats, but I think in any scenario where they’re at all similar in terms of physicality, Megatron holds the advantage in a fight.

What’s up, fuckers. Freeza vs Megatron time. Fuck you if you spell it ‘Frieza’ btw.

For starters, I really don't see why we're saying the speed difference ain't blitzing range. Even assuming, let's say, 200 quadrillion times FTL for Freeza (which is pretty low-end as far as the calcs go, I’ve toyed around with the Dragon Ball universe size scaling and such, and have gotten varying results for different speed feats, the highest of which get up to a few quintillion c), that would make him 8.33333 times faster than the Matrix’s blast speed that Megatron is being scaled to. Being honest, I also think we're being generous scaling Megs’ speed to it, given that it’s just based on Starscream screaming as it engulfed him, which we’re interpreting as him “reacting to it”. Which is, uh. Debatable lol. Regardless, an 8.33333 times difference is equivalent to an average person fighting something that's moving 125 miles per hour, and I dunno about you but I don't think I'm reacting to something like that at all close-range lol.

As far as AP is concerned, if you go with the universe level interpretation for Freeza, I would put them about even, probably. I'm not too keen on scaling Megatron to Regenesis Shockwave, the guy who bitch-slapped him and said outright that Optimus was no match for him, though the whole universe-controlling Nova Prime thing is probably fine. Going with the low multiversal interpretation for Freeza (because the Dragon Ball universe 7 macrocosm contains multiple universe-sized realms), I think would give him the edge, though I'll be fair to Megatron and say they're comparable.

You’re probably noticing by now that I’m holding back a lot on Freeza’s stats, and also giving Megatron stuff that I think is extremely shaky. We’re also giving Megatron one-off equipment from his different bodies, and compositing him more extensively (while excluding Heroes stuff for Freeza). Hm, I wonder, if you need to go with a low interpretation for one and a high interpretation for the other in order to make things close… I wonder if that says anything about which side has the stronger argument. Who knows, really.

That was sarcasm, if it wasn’t obvious. Going with universal for both, or low multi for both, they’d be comparable in AP. At which point, I mean. Imagine fighting someone who's equally strong as you, except they're moving 125 mph lol. You're not winning that fight. Even if you have something similar to Megatron’s antimatter, which could theoretically oneshot the opponent, like, say, a gun… that isn't going to matter if they beat the snot out of you before you can use it, and are easily capable of avoiding the shot if worst comes to worst.

All-in-all, this is a pretty close match, but it’s still clear-cut. Megatron would realistically need to be WAY stronger than Freeza in order to win, considering the speed gap, and even at absolute best, giving him every affordance and restricting Freeza every affordance, Megatron would still only be slightly stronger. Anti-matter can be reacted to and dodged, or blocked with ki barriers (we’ve seen that force-fields can block it). Experience advantage doesn’t mean shit when Megatron can’t react to Freeza, and Freeza regularly punks fighters way more experienced than himself. Freeza massively outranges him. The Decepticon has a decent enough chance, but there’s no way he wins more times than not, even with all the scrutiny that’s been given to Freeza’s stats (and not Megatron’s). As long as you treat them both evenly, Freeza should take this 8-9/10.

(The Fight We All Want In Time)

First off, Happy Independence Day everyone. I hope that everyone is having a good time as I am enjoying it with my family. Before that, there is this special fight that has finally gotten the attention thanks to the Death Battle Cast. As I have mentioned before on Gray Vs EsDeath, I was actually the one on the live stream from the Sneak Peek episode who truly put in the suggestion of Frieza (or Freeza if you want to call him that) Vs. Megatron because of how I saw how amazing this clash of the classic villains is too perfect to miss. It was just a shame that Sam missed out on his part in the Community Death Battle, but it showed how much people wanted this episode to be made. And that was why it was the number one fight that won G1’s Suggestion Poll, because EVERYONE wants to see this fight to the death between the tyrants of fiction in the future. That was also why I want to predict my view on this fight, these two villains are easily connected to each other and recognizable. 

My three factors I think will come important to the victor will depend on their skills and abilities to make up for their strengths and weaknesses. There are a lot of many outcomes that could affect the winner, but this one to me was more clear to see thanks to She-Ra Vs. Wonder Woman showed me more factors to point out. The three major points that will give the win for this iconic fight will be: Stats, Weaponry/Abilities, and Experience/Intelligence. 

Round 1: Stats

This one is surpignlsy tricky because of how broken Dragon Ball (and most of anime sometimes) can be a nightmare of scaling stats to the fighters. Especially for Frieza as I feel that I can not do the power scaling and comparison for that reason. I will have to do it based on what I consider are outliers and what are reliable in the best way, like Goku’s Sayian God Universe Shockwave being an outlier since 1. I felt that Beerus was the one who mostly did it, and 2. Many characters like Kale and Broly are able to overpower the upgraded version of the Saiyans God (Blue one). Megatron felt more simple as the comics went very well in matching what was seen in the classic cartoon. It was easy to say two thirds of this category. Frieza was totally faster as most of the TransFormers have not shown lightspeed like movement or reactions like Frieza has. He has shown many times to keep up with many of his foes, especially Goku and Vegeta. Not even Megatron has shown much impressive speed feats, only showing his blasters and keeping up with Prime at 125,000 miles per hour. However, Megatron is much more durable than Frieza since he has survived near impossible outcomes on far bigger planets with only a few scratch marks while Frieza in point blank does not. Freeza did survive and overpower Hakai numerous times in Super, yet for some reason they are moments where it does erase everthing it touches as the name suggests. Lastly, there are strengths, which was the hardest part to decide. Both have shown their powers to be strong where at first Frieza should win due to him being able to destroy planets at ease. Then, the comics come in for Megatron which shows him fighting against beings who can destroy universes. But, in the end when looking at strength, it is a stalemate as both fighters are strong enough to give their warth at any time. Which makes the round end in a draw with their own advantages of stats. Long story short for the winner of Stats, I am giving it a tie. 

Round 2: Weaponry/Abilities

The firepower is important to this fight because of how they are used to make Frieza and Megatron higher control of power. What Frieza lacks in weaponry, he makes up for in his abilities with Ki and his transformations. They are his bread and butter, which helps increase his power and does give him much range and veristality to control the battlefield. Frieza is creative with his attacks and does pretty well with destroying his foes with his energy. But… Megatron has his own ways of keeping up with Frieza. He is a transformer after all so his jet form and gun blast (in the cartoon) has to be on here, but his forms like Gavlatron required outside sources. Despite that, he has many weapons to bring in battle. Energy blasters, maces, laser beams, buzzsaws, invisible paint cloak to the naked eye, Electrum that makes him invincible for a while (mostly Golden Mario), swords, cannons, Dark Saber if that counts, the list goes on. His abilities are also shown to him doing energy control, teleportation, force fields, and so on. However, the Antimatter is mostly Megatron’s instant win ability at the risk of his life, and that is why Frieza is in true danger. You see, antimatter is matter with antiparticles of matter. If you remember the states of matter, there are four which were: solid, liquid, gas, and plasma. Plasma is the one we need to talk about because it is the common state of matter that gives shape and volume to energy. So, what does a star, a nuclear fusion, Iron Man’s Blasters, and Ki have all in common? They are all in the matter of plasma. Which Megatron could use to use Frieza’s own energy against him. Thankfully Frieza is faster than Megatron to avoid it, but I feel there is no escape to it since you can not escape matter itself. I just feel that Megatron’s weaponry and his antimatter power would be enough to expose Frieza in time to give him the opening he needs to take the shot. Round 2 goes to Megatron thanks to his arsenal and the one shot kills antimatter. 

Final Round: Experience/Intelligence

    This will be the deciding factor as all tyrants need to be wise in choosing their battles to always get the win. Frieza may not be as old as Megatron, but he has shown to be an amazing fighter in combat. Even Goku, fiction’s greatest combat artist, has trouble going toe to toe against him. Not only that, he is very smart in exporting his victims and always ready to backstab when the options come. His “team up” against Frost with Gohan I must admit was a cool moment for myself in the tournament arc. He has led an empire under his rule since he was a child, and has ruled galaxies for years until Goku stepped in. However, I just can not overlook how much older Megatron is compared to Frieza. Megatron like Prime has been around for millions of years, which he started out as a gladiator born to fight. While he has not ruled an empire like Frieza, he has shown much more experience and strategy in his leadership where even Optimus Prime has trouble against Megatron’s intelligence. The biggest factor in this part is how he can use his experience to his advantage and expose Frieza’s weaknesses like his ignorance or him getting close to using the antimatter. My point is that Frieza is skilled in his life, but not in the way that is as old and wise as Megatron. The final round goes to Megatron.

Despite the first round being a stalemate in stats, Megatron was able to get what he needed to hold my final decision of winning. This was a hard matchup to decide on as I like both characters and even thought Frieza had some factors like his speed to help him win. But, Megatron to me had major gaps in some of his advantages that affected Frieza’s chances of winning, such as Megatron’s long fighting experience and the antimatter. Frieza had no counters from what I could see, and even most of the other predictions that Frieza could use to overcome them, and Megatron’s durability is too strong to put him down for good. Even though this fight could happen in the future of Death Battle where Frieza is able to gain some more feats to help counter Megatron’s warth, I can not see it happening due to the Decepticon having too much of a gap to the finish. My mind could change in time, but for now the winner is clear. Frieza held his own thanks to his speed and ki verisitaity, but Megatron’s durability, weaponry, long experience, wise intelligence, and power of the Antimatter made the emperor of Dragon Ball screaming. LIKE A  B@#ch! The Winner is Megatron. 

    I got this done at 4 o’clock in the morning, and it was worth it. I hope you all enjoyed my prediction as I had a blast being on here and helping out on sources and other things. Gonna keep this short because others here have gone into more detail than I ever could but uh this is a really fun and thematic matchup with two cool characters that also happens to be pretty close so that's nice.

Both Frieza and Megatron are around the same levels of strength and durability by scaling to Uni to Low Multi shit so no one here is gonna win just by slapping the other guy into a red mist (or oil mist in Megatron's case), speed is well...a lot more complicated, both have highly contentious shit but personally I'd lean on Frieza here by a decent amount.

Now thankfully ol' Megs has one trick in his pocket that could very well be his key to victory here being his Antimatter Manipulation. Now while Frieza has lived through plenty of shit there really isn't any evidence he could shrug off the Antimatter should Megatron manage to land it and with their strength and dura being so similar...I think he can.

While the gap in speed certainly won’t be easy to overcome I think with Megatron’s durability and just how fucking broken the Antimatter is Megatron has just enough to edge out a victory against the Emperor of the Universe.

Alright, here we go. Back again and ready to give a verdict. Frieza vs Megatron is a matchup that needs no introduction. Two of the most grandiose, sadistic and tyrannical villains in all of fiction. These guys are legendary. 

And I just so happen to have little experience with either series….

Whelp, matchup kicks ass either way so that’s why I’m here. Bare with me cause there’s an assload of stuff to go over with these megalomaniacal menaces.



Let’s start relatively simple, or as simple as this matchup can get, being honest. AP. How much can these two dish out and take in response.

Well let’s start simple. At bare minimum, both have tanked planets exploding as well as being able to bust planets themselves. Hell, Frieza did it with so little effort in his base form. However, both scale to and have done far crazier shit that the planet feats aren’t gonna cut it, so let’s take things up a notch. For Frieza, he scales to Goku and Beerus nearly destroying Universe 7 in their clash. Universe 7 is a macrocosm so this clocks out at low multi, even if we half the calcs since it was Goku and Beerus clashing.

Megatron, meanwhile, has him slapping around both Regenesis Shockwave and the Deceptigod. Both of these guys are capable of collapsing multiple universes, or we could scale him to our buddy Optimus’ “pIECE OF ROBOT GOD” stuck in his tit. Either way, Megatron comes out at low multi as well, possibly a bit lower than Frieza but it should still be comparable. AP in this case is a draw.


Next up, speed. Already both clock in at the quadrillions range, with exact numbers being 24 quadrillions for Megatron and around 375 for Frieza, with Frieza potentially scaling to more quadrillions stuff that’s even higher with Whis and Champa. Even at the lowest option, Frieza’s 15 times as fast as Megatron.  

So with stats, Frieza holds a solid advantage in both categories, but they’re not exactly massive gaps. Close enough that you could probably argue Megatron could likely do that shit as well. To get a decisive verdict, we’re gonna have to look at other factors.

Right away, Megatron gets a massive advantage in experience, leading wars for millions of years against Cybertron, trumping Frieza’s around 70 years as a galactic conqueror. He’s seen so much shit that Frieza likely isn’t anything new to him, even with his stat advantages.

But that isn’t enough to call a victory for Megatron, as Frieza in what little time he has comparatively has seen and fought gods and godlike beings too, but it’s a start. What is notable, however, is the way both scale. Frieza scales to his stuff through being comparable to Goku, though Goku has won most of his matches against him as far as I know. While Frieza has claimed he could have killed Goku in an instant if he actually knew what he was doing, and has knocked Goku out of his Blue form, it pales in comparison to how Megatron scales to his feats.

Most of Megatron’s scaling comes from him defeating, killing, or ruling over those who perform the feats. Deceptigod is the combined power of every single Decipticon and Megatron blew him apart with one shot. Keep in mind, some of those Decepticons are responsible for the 24 quadrillions feat earlier, so it’s possible that Megatron could be far faster and stronger than he has shown, but to what extent is impossible to know.

Again, these are complex arguments, but neither of them actually tips the scales in either’s favor. Frieza seems to have an advantage in stats but it’s impossible to know exactly how far of an advantage he carries. Megatron has decimated opponents who have the potential to be stronger than Frieza’s scaling but it’s impossible to know just how much more powerful he is than those or how powerful said beings are. Megatron’s ages of experience are an extreme advantage but Frieza has seen gods of similar caliber in his time as well.

But there is a single advantage that one of these two has that I feel completely tips the scales in one’s favor. Something that cannot be countered as far as I know.

Megatron’s Antimatter capabilities.

Antimatter isn’t something that can really be quantified, and with Megatron, it takes it to an extreme level. For those who don’t know, Antimatter is a form of matter that functionally cannot exist without destroying any matter it touches, meaning Megatron can potentially negate Frieza’s durability and AP advantages, as well as bypassing his regenerative abilities by being able to completely disintegrate him (which we know is the one thing that CAN kill Frieza). But that’s not all. With his connection to the black hole, Megatron can seemingly cheat death completely, and with his spark being able to essentially time travel, it calls into question whether or not Frieza can actually conventionally kill Megatron permanently, while Megatron has a way of putting down Frieza for good.

Add that to his experience advantage and the weird way that both scale to their feats, and I feel I can definitively say Megatron is the winner here. Again, this is an extremely, EXTREMELY close fight, and Frieza could potentially win given the chance, but with Megatron’s ungodly ancient age, his utter domination of gods and godlike beings, and his outright reality warping antimatter capabilities, it’s the Decepticon that will take the crown here.

Frieza may seem to have a golden opportunity, but don’t be deceived, as Megatron can transform this match into a victory with his cyber-ton of tricks.

First time on, thanks for having me. Going to keep this one short, as both don't have too many hax to go over. Megatron in idw solidly scales to universal+, low multiversal if buy him scaling to shockwave. Frieza is also solidly Universal+, low multiversal via the high end interpretation of universe 7’s size and structure.

As for speed, Megatron is admittingly slower than Frieza, though I do not believe it is enough to blitz. Goku and Beerus moving in tandem with the shockwaves is dubious, due to possible acceleration. It should also be noted that while Beerus is indeed 3/4th of Whis’ speed, this was in reference to Whis’ first travel speed feat, which is much slower than his later on that gets hundreds of quadrillions of times the speed of light. I’ve seen Champa’s manga feat being used to scale to Frieza, though this feat is a potential outlier, as it's higher than Whis’ second feat, in which Whis notes he had never gone that fast before.

Frieza more solidly scales to Beerus traversing planets at the beginning of super. My friend Phantom did a calc for this, which I’ll post.

So the difference in speed would be about 5 times (Megatron being 24 quadrillion c via scaling to the matrix). Given that is not exactly a blitz, I could see Frieza causing enough damage to drive Megatron into using his anti matter and force field to cage him in. Granted, Frieza could also further harm Megatron through the shield with his telekinesis.

 I believe it comes down to who has higher power. With the low multi interpretation, Frieza is slightly strong, but not enough to kill Megatron before Frieza dies to antimatter. It's even worse with the lower interpretation, where both are exactly equal. One might bring up Dragon ball multipliers, or Frieza's ability to detonate opponents with his TK. The problem with the former is potential calc stacking, and both the narrative and cosmology not supporting this kind of increase(Goku being inferior to Beerus until his acquisition of ultra instinct, and the dbs multiverse only being 12 universes). With the latter, Frieza has only ever done this once to a much weaker character, and has never replicated this, even against opponents he despises like Goku and Vegeta. 

In 100 outcomes, this would most likely go 55/45. Frieza sometimes would just barely kill Megatron before he gets him with his antimatter, but it is more likely his cocky attitude and arrogance will let Megatron live out long enough to erase Frieza. Freiza’s best chance is to use the Imprisonment ball to hold Megatron in place, but it's unlikely the anti matter wouldn't just destroy that too. You could argue in a scenario like it would kill both of them, but Megatron could just open a space bridge to avoid that outcome. 

I should add that unless you believe goku in base scales to beerus, it's unlikely Frieza is even strong enough in base to harm Megatron, let alone come out unscathed from Megatron's attacks. In the tournament of power, damage Frieza sustained in his final form carried over to his golden form, so that's also a disadvantage. 

With all these given factors, I believe Megatron just slightly wins out via his antimatter.  

Update: It has come to my attention the 24 Quadrillion c Calc cannot scale to Megatron. In that case, Frieza blitzs regardless of ap. Freiza does not have an ability that can bypass Megatron’s durability, though Megs does. The two are roughly even in ap, though Frieza can most likely do more damage than Megatron can, and is fast enough to dodge the anti matter. With that said, I give Frieza the win.

Alriiiight! I’m here to write out a verdict about this wonderful matchup of tyrants: Frieza vs. Megatron!

I’ll try to keep this as short as I can due to how busy IRL I am.

So, on to the first category: Attack Potency/Durability. Both have their fair share of arguments to get them up to Uni+-Low Mult. With Frieza, it’s scaling to Son Goku who shook the entire U7 macrocosm in his fight against Beerus. Depending on how you want to interpret the cosmology of U7, you’ll get Frieza to either Uni+ or Low Multi (with Hell, Heaven and all the other worlds being their own space-time continuums). With Megatron, it is from the IDW comics. For Uni+, it’s from scaling to Nova Prime. For Low Multi, it’s scaling to Shockwave who was absorbing the Dead Universe and destroying the main one. Both of these scaling have their fair share of caveats, like the constant disputes as to what is the most accurate cosmology for U7 for the former, and whether or not Megatron really can be scaled to Shockwave, seeing as Shockwave later thwacks him and Optimus Prime is outright stated to be inferior to Shockwave. Because of these factors, I’ll say they’re at least comparable in strength, regardless of who’s stronger and by what specific amount. You’ll see later on why this hardly matters.

Instead of tackling speed (I want to save that for last), let’s tackle abilities and weapons. For the former, Frieza surely is more versatile with his Ki Manipulation knowing a total of 17 Ki techniques. And with superior range and having a good prowess in Martial Arts, it seems like a really good deal. Megatron, on the other hand, has technically better hax with anti-matter and does have a useful barrier to deal with some of his more projectile-based techniques which is handy without a doubt. He also has more weapons than Frieza, compensating even further the lack of versatility. Their stronger forms should also cancel out. But most importantly, the Leader of the Decepticons is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more experienced than the Alien Tyrant (he’s older than Optimus Prime who’s over 9 million years old. Enough said). So, it is sounding SUPER even and at this rate and with all this information, I can see the match go either way. But… There’s 1 more category: speed.

The last category to briefly evaluate, and probably the most important one with everything else taken into consideration. Who emerges victorious in this category?

… Okay, I probably shouldn’t hype something so clearly obvious. The winner of this category is Frieza. Frieza scales to Goku who scales to Beerus who’s ¾ of Whis’s speed (which was calced at 498 Quadrillion C). Megatron, on the other hand, could at bare minimum scale to 0.97c. I did hear some other interstellar travel calcs that got in the Trillions C. But I don’t remember them all too well but I recall it seeming legit. So…

But anywho, note that I didn’t initially acknowledge the Hate Plague feat that was pegged at 24 Quadrillion C yet. Well, the reason’s simple: I don’t buy the Transformers scaling to the beam of light from the Matrix. Why? Because Starscream (the guy who allegedly perceived it) didn’t really react to it, as elaborated by Phantom in his verdict. And I don’t think Starscream perceiving the beam’s a valid justification for scaling: I can perceive a bullet train coming at me at full speed from 300 meters away, yet I still don’t really have the reactions to dodge an arrow shot at me from 5 meters. 

Maybe it’s not the best example out there, but my point is that perceiving the beam from a long distance is not enough to justify scaling to it. But say we do give Megatron the benefit of the doubt to scale him to that. Guess what? Frieza’s high ends get up into the Quintillions C and for equal amounts of leeway. So, with both getting equal treatment (which IMO is the most fair approach due to them having equally problematic caveats), Frieza will always blitz Megatron. And with the speed gap always being over 10x in the best case scenario (and abysmally bigger in the worst case scenario), I really don’t see Frieza’s arrogance (like others have elaborated on) being a hindrance to his performance at all.

So… Now you see why who’s stronger hardly matters? One of them is just too fast. It’s kind of reminiscent of the previous blog I worked on for Tanjiro vs. Jonathan, in which the winner wins in a clear-cut speedblitz. Except that the winner this time is almost equal in AP/Dura to the loser, and kind of has no true hax.

So, all in all, I believe Frieza has more than enough speed to win more often than not. Maybe even in a blitz stomp in my unpopular opinion.

I actually wasn’t gonna make a verdict but eh fuck it. Apparently there was a tie(and some kind of argument?), so I’ll just add in my thoughts based on everyone else's verdict. A 10x speed difference is generally considered fast enough to blitz an opponent(it’s roughly the difference between the strongest and weakest punch on record in terms of physical strength, and we’ve always used it as a benchmark for a notable gap because of that). So if that difference checks out Freeza should have a major advantage over megatron.  If Megatron is “at most” low multi, I’d also be willing to give Freeza the power advantage. The “universal/low multi” feats in dragonball happened pretty early on tbh, and basic reasoning would dictate that Freeza would be higher up on the power scale given the number of transformations characters have achieved since then(Even Broly in his base form is strong than Blue Goku, and Freeza took hits from his SS forms for a decent amount of time).  I also think both of them are pretty equally stupid or megolomaniac or whatever. And honestly Freeza has killed a lot of people quickly and without fanfare anyway, so I don’t see why it matters(most of the time he only drags things out if it's personal). Both can also survive in space,so destroying the planet does not matter. It sounds like the anti-matter can be blocked with shields, which freeza can make. I’ve also heard from Lousy on other vs matches, the destructive power of anti-matter actually can be quantified.

Additionally even if Freeza got side swiped, He’s got some pretty bizarre survivability(he survived cut in half, with most of his head missing, and while in pieces). He probably would not be put down by say losing an arm and if he’s that much faster he’d probably react in time to protect or mitigate most damage. And finally there seems to be some confusion regarding feats and some scaling for Megatron, while I’m pretty confident in what numbers Freeza’s best “feats” should come out to.
