Space, the Final Frontier. Many have come to wonder what lies beyond our cosmic neighborhood, and, if there is life, what it would be like. Those of us with optimistic outlooks hope what we meet will be friendly. However, in the world of fiction, such hopes are far from the truth. There are those who wish to dominate all they come across, tyrannical warlords who travel from planet to planet, star system to star system, spreading death, chaos and bloodshed to any civilization unfortunate enough to be in their way. Their only goal? Total intergalactic conquest, every planet bowing to a single banner, their own:
Ridley, the leader of the Space Pirates, the bane of Samus Aran, and Metroid’s self-proclaimed ‘Cunning God of Death’. Vilgax, arch-nemesis of Ben 10, the Despot of Vilgaxia, and the Conqueror of 10 Worlds. Both of these cruel tyrants are as monstrous as they come, in both visage and disposition, and thrive on the bloody, bloody swath they have cut through the universe. But there isn’t enough room in one universe for both of them. When warpaths collide, which of these intergalactic terrorists will ultimately reign supreme, and who will simply become another mark upon the wall?
A Heads-Up From Ya Bois
Both these characters have had multiple transformations, enhancements, and powers that are gained and lost over the course of their histories. For this blog, we'll be sticking to equipment and abilities that are standard, consistent, and can reasonably be usable. Thus, anything like Vilgax's Lucubran powers or Omega Ridley will not be taken into consideration.
We will also be sticking with the original timeline Vilgax here because something, something, reboot bad.
Background
Ridley
Cosmic Year 2000. The Galactic Federation maintains relative peace in the galaxy, bringing it into a relative age of prosperity. But where there is prosperity, there are those willing to exploit it by immoral means. The Milky Way galaxy would soon tremble in fear at the space pirates led by their infamous leader, Ridley.
It is a common misconception that Ridley is part of a species named “Space Dragon”. However that is actually non-canon. Ridley’s species’ name is entirely unknown. Similarly unknown is most of Ridley’s past. What is known is that through cunning and power, he made his way into High Command, the leading body of the Space Pirates, and launched a fateful raid on the Earth colony K-2L.
In the short term, this raid was highly successful, leading to the destruction of the entire colony. However, in the long term, this was the fateful raid that gave birth to Samus Aran, the Galactic Bounty Hunter and Ridley’s sworn nemesis. The two would engage in battle many times over the years, getting stronger to better oppose one another.
Ridley would lead the space pirates to actual successes against the Federation, even with the Super-Bounty Hunter Samus opposing them every step of the way.
Vilgax
In a distant star system and planet far from our own, live a race of aliens known as the Chimera Sui Generis. While little is known of these octopus-faced creatures, one of them would rise to become one of the greatest terrors the universe would know: the galactic warlord known as Vilgax.
Early in his youth, Vilgax had joined the military of his race, known for his dangerous ambition and disobedience. Eventually exiled by his own kind to our own solar system in the 1700s, he would find himself on the planet Earth. There, he witnessed a strange alien with the power to transform between species (actually his nemesis who had time traveled back from several hundred years in the future, but that’s a long story). Intrigued by this ability, Vilgax would spend centuries searching for a device that would allow such a thing.
Eventually, in the 21st century, Vilgax found his prize in the form of the Omnitrix. With it, he intended to create an army that could use the powers of every species throughout the universe and ensure all would fall to their knees. But just before he could take it for himself, the ship carrying the Omnitrix rammed into him and ejected the alien device to earth, where it would be found by a young boy most would know as Ben 10.
Half-dead and forced into a healing tank, Vilgax would send forces out to take the Omnitrix from its user, before finally creating a cyborg body that would allow him to kill the user and take it for himself. In spite of learning that a child now possessed the Omnitrix, Vilgax was no less determined, even attempting to sever Ben’s arm. After a battle for his life, Ben managed to just barely escape Vilgax’s wrath and trap him in another dimension. But as Ben would soon come to learn, no matter how many times Vilgax was defeated, he would always come back, more determined than ever to take the Omnitrix for himself and conquer the universe.
Equipment
Ridley
Ridley doesn’t tend to carry around any equipment with him normally, but look at him. Does it really look like he needs to?
Vilgax
Sword
Vilgax has wielded many different swords over the years, but the final version that he used in Omniverse is essentially a giant good ol’ fashioned lightsaber. Assuming it’s comparable to his previous one in Alien Force, it should be powerful enough to cut through aliens like Chromastone and even a spaceship with a single stroke.
Malware Armor
In his last encounter against Ben, Vilgax used the remains of another arch-nemesis to create the Malware armor, dubbing himself “Malgax”. In this state, Vilgax’s power skyrockets, allowing him to punch Diamondhead to the moon of Galvan Prime, and even overpower Atomix, who is said to be the second-strongest alien in the Omnitrix by multiple sources and creators. Malware himself has even been able to survive Galvan-B exploding, so the suit should likely be capable of the same. However, its most effective ability is Malware’s own ability to assimilate and absorb any machinery he comes in contact with. This not only allows Vilgax to enhance any of his own weapons, but also to use any technology Malware has absorbed, such as ray guns, a laser sword, a jetpack, and a powerful tachyon cannon capable of destroying whoever it hits on a sub-cellular level.
However, this form was only used once against Ben, so whether it’d be part of Vilgax’s standard arsenal if he were to be brought into a fight would depend from person to person. On one hand, he never lost the armor even after being petrified and thrown into space, so you could argue he could still keep it for the fight. On the other hand, this was also the sole appearance of the armor, so you could argue it’s not consistent enough to be standard.
Abilities
Ridley
Plasma Breath
Plasma is a gaseous state of matter that is extremely hot. Ridley has plasma breath that launches from his mouth. He can charge for greater range and damage, and the plasma blasts can even travel along the surface of the floor.
Fire Breath
Ridley can also produce fire from his mouth in the form of bursts or as a firespray. He can create up to five separate fire bursts from his mouth at once, propelling them at seemingly any angle.
Flight
Do you think he has those two giant-ass wings for decoration? Ridley can fly, maneuver, and attack at high speed, even in space.
Tail
Ridley's tail essentially functions as an extra appendage. He has complete control over it, using it primarily to stab his enemies. He can use it while flying, and even wrap it around someone's neck.
Claws and Jaws
Ridley is able to perform many powerful attacks with his claws; many of his melee attacks can be enhanced with electrical energy. And, of course, he isn’t above just taking a giant bite out of his opponent.
Healing by eating
In the Zero Mission prequel manga, it is stated that Ridley can regenerate from serious injuries faster if he consumes human flesh. He can regenerate massive body losses this way, though it is implied to take a while and is generally impractical in combat. He is able to regenerate from being burnt down to the bone.
Camouflage
If Ridley’s horrific appearance and abilities weren’t terrifying enough, he also possesses the ability to camouflage himself, allowing him to ambush his foes.
Vilgax
Superhuman Endurance
While many of Vilgax’s abilities have come and gone over the years, one consistent trait he shares from incarnation to incarnation is how near-invulnerable he seems to be. He easily endured Heatblast’s fire without a scratch, had Diamondhead’s crystals shatter against his body, and even withstood a hit from a fully-grown Humungousaur with total ease.
Energy Blasts
Whenever Vilgax wants to attack an opponent from afar, he is able to fire red energy blasts from his hands that can cause explosions of varying sizes.
True Form
When his back is truly to the wall and he has nothing left, Vilgax can become a colossal squid monster that easily dwarfs just about any of Ben’s aliens. This form possesses strength even greater than Vilgax himself and maintains all his previously held abilities, along with being able to simply eat any enemies in his way. However, if Vilgax is too weak, he cannot transform back from this form and requires constant water to stay alive.

Weaknesses
Ridley
For as vicious and badass as Ridley might be, his actual track record against Samus is...well let’s just say it isn’t the greatest, with the majority of their battles ending with him getting his tail handed to him and needing cybernetics to keep going.
And while Ridley is much more intelligent than his appearance would lead you to believe, whenever he’s bloodlusted (which is literally all the goddamn time) he becomes single-minded in his pursuit to, well, murder. Also, if someone shoots Ridley's mouth while he charges his Plasma Breath, it will explode in his mouth and damage himself.
Vilgax
Despite all that Vilgax has accomplished, he is not perfect. Vilgax's species has unique weaknesses such as the inability to return to his normal form when weakened, vulnerability to common cold, and his high durability can be overwhelmed with enough force.
Also, as the franchise progresses, Vilgax has become less of a threat to his greatest enemy Ben, frequently having to rely on different means just to stand a chance, whether it be stealing superpowers from different heroes across the galaxy, merging with a brain monster from another dimension, merging with that dimension’s god, or even using a literal time bomb to wipe out every single version of Ben who had known what an Omnitrix was. And somehow, even that failed.

Really happy to see this matchup has been getting more popular recently. Even though the Ben 10 series has made well…a controversial first impression to say the least, it still has plenty of good matchups you can do with Vilgax obviously being the next big rep and Ridley is by far my favorite idea for him. Metroid is a series that is also in need of another rep which is odd considering the series’ history with Death Battle, so what better way to kill two birds with one stone than with this battle between two badass alien warlords, now let’s get into which of these two is winning.
Let’s kick things off with experience, skill, and intelligence as I feel these are pretty clear cut. Ridley’s exact age is unknown but since he was an adult when Samus was just 3 it’s clear that he’s been around for a good while, still though it’s unlikely it could even come close to Vilgax who we know has been fighting for at least 240 years considering he’s done battle with George fucking Washington way back in 1773, so yeah this is going to Vilgax here. Skill is another easy point for Vilgax considering how he’s actually shown to be quite skilled in hand to hand combat and swordsmanship while Ridley mainly just fights like the vicious monster he looks like, now this works for him (most of the time) but doesn’t quite compare to Vilgax’s actual skill. Now intelligence is probably one of the trickier things to figure out because we know Ridley is actually very smart given how he’s been able to command the space space pirates for years and was able to build a robot version of himself so he’s obviously not some mindless beast (though he sure acts like it). Given Vilgax’s experience though it’s not too surprising he’s done things that trumped that such as being smart and manipulative enough to trick Dagon, an extra-dimensional entity whose taken over hundred of dimensions, so I’m gonna give this category to ol’ hentai face. So far this is beginning to like a Vilgax sweep however things get a little different when we get into the other categories.
When it comes to their abilities there’s not really a whole lot going on. Vilgax has energy blasts which gives him a ranged option against Ridley but his True Form isn’t really going to be of any use here. Not only does he need to be in water to survive but it also makes him a sitting duck here against Ridley who could just fly away and pepper him with ranged attacks and that leads us into one of Ridley’s advantages here. Ridley just overall has much more abilities to work with here thanks to his flight, ranged options, and camouflage while Vilgax in his base form doesn’t have a whole lot meaning Ridley is gonna be controlling much more of the fight.
Stats are a lot trickier here but we’ll cover the most clear cut stat first. While Ridley being able to outmaneuver Samus’ ship nets him pretty high it’s still far below the time Vilgax flew from Earth to Petropia in a short timeframe which is at the edge of the galaxy. Strength and durability is probably the closest area here with Ridley taking a slight edge but not big enough to the point where Vilgax can’t keep up however one area where Vilgax can’t keep up with Ridley in is survivability. While both are capable of surviving fatal wounds Ridley has survived far worse such as the time he was burnt down to the bone, yes his regen was likely a key factor but the fact he was able to come back from this in the first place shows he can survive more fatal injuries than gax. Honestly if we were just sticking to these two’s base forms I’d probably give the W to Ridley in a very close fight with his strength durability and abilities barely being enough to edge things out…buuut there’s one thing in Vilgax’s arsenal that completely flips things on its head. The Malgax Armor.
Yeah despite Vilgax getting shafted to hell in Omniverse it actually has the thing he needed to make this a definitive win for him. Essentially all of the advantages Ridley have are nonexistent with Malgax being able to fodderize big boy aliens like Atomix, who is the second strongest alien in the Omnitrix, making him able to scale to aliens like Waybig who was able to overpower a Ray capable of destroying Pluto. Plus the additional abilities and weapons the armor gives Vilgax not only give him the mobility to match Ridley’s but the perfect tool to put the space pirate down for good, The Tachyon Cannon which can destroy things on a sub-cellular level, more than enough to get past his healing factor. I can see the arguments for not including the armor, in fact I was a little iffy on it at first but considering how he never lost it and it was his last appearance in the series I feel like it should be reasonable to use and with it uhhhh. Let’s just say Ridley won’t be able to size up for the occasion.
Kevineitor
Well, a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.
I mean, I left the Blog for a moment and when I return I see that we will have an extra Blog, and I do not want to brag, but I did my best with this Blog, putting all the abilities and feats possible for both characters, so I really got too much Into this Blog. Anyway, now I'm going to analyze both characters and give my verdict.
Okay, first I will see the versatility they both have, Ridley has Plasma breath and Fire breath, he can fly, he can control his tail to stab Brutales, Claws and Jaws, the creepy Healing Factor I've ever heard, and he can camouflage. While Vilgax has... invulnerable, Energy Blasts and a sword. Oh, and an armor, which I will not take into account for reasons that I will explain more later. Yes, I think the rules of the Blog made a bad move on Vilgax, his skills and equipment is very limited, only with a melee attack, a ranged attack and the rest is physical.
That is to say, Ridley has two remote attacks, one is Fire that can go in different ways and the other is Plasma, which is very hot. And the red energy that Vilgax has is very generic, Ridley takes multiple shots like those of Samus, and Samus has a lot more lethal gear, I know Vilgax's sword is very strong, but no matter what blow it lands, Ridley can survive it. With that now I will move on to the stats that they both have.
Okay, Vilgax is capable of keeping up with a lot of Ben's big boys like Four-Arms, Diamondhead, and even a fully-grown Humungousaur, while Ridley only has to break a rock with his claw. But Ridley also has his tail and his plasma breath, which are capable of destroying mountains and breaking the ground, Vilgax can only hit, but Ridley can damage Vilgax in different ways, so Ridley takes the advantage in strength.
Okay, even though Ridley can fly, Vilgax is obviously faster than Ridley, being able to react to XLR8 and keep up with Jetray, we could scale Ridley with Samus and his ship, but that still wouldn't put Ridley's speed at the same level that Vilgax, and Vilgax's speed feats are more direct than the ones Ridley has, so Vilgax takes the advantage in speed.
Now let's talk about durability, although Vilgax has taken a lot of hits, fire, explosions, and the destruction of his own ship, Ridley has survived all of Samus's team of weapons that can create a lot of destruction on their own and an explosion large enough to destroy a village. Plus, Ridley has a direct healing factor that could help him, so it's a very specific one, but it's still powerful enough to save him from something that nearly destroyed him to the bone. Yeah, Ridley takes it on durability too.
In conclusion, although Vilgax has the advantage in speed and perhaps experience, Ridley has the advantage in versatility, power and durability that will give victory to this fighter.
It seems that Ridley was the ringer for this fight. What's up Ben 10 Fanboys? Are you green with envy?
Guess what? I think Ben 10 VS Green Lantern was a ten outta Ben.
(I don’t regret anything, fight me)

This blog has been very interesting to me. There was so much to talk about but so little time. A shame too because this fight just overall is really good. And I hope one day it becomes real some day. This blog has also gone to some weird places. Like both being planet busting to then Mountain and then back to planet busting. But that's besides the point. So overall who do I think wins. Personally from all the shit we went through and all the info on these guys. I do think vilgax edges out. Ridley may be more versatile but that's basically it. Not only does he have way more experience than barney over here. But he completely out stats. Comparing strength and dura. Ridley should reasonably scale to samus. Who once froze an entire star solid. And he himself could tank a planet exploding directly. Though he was badly injured in process. basically around multi cont-planet. Impressive. However vilgax is much stronger. Comparing him to way big, who he has hurt and even matched in combat to some degree, who could block and survive a hit from a beam that was powerful enough to destroy pluto. And with the malgax armor could overpower atomix. Who is superior to way big and ben’s second strongest alien. There's no way ridley is topping that. Comparing speed wise, vilgax has that locked down as well. Ridley should be comparable to samus’s ship. Which could fly across ss’s in a few minutes. So around 10 million C. but vilgax is way faster. Not only did he fly from vilgaxia to earth in a short time frame, but he also flew from earth to petropia in an even shorter time frame. Which resides on the far reaches of the milky way. Which was calced at 73 million times ftl. Over 7 times faster than ridley. Ridley was a deadly opponent, but vilgax’s strength, durability, speed and experience overshadowed the purple dinosaur's fury. Yep. guess you can say Vilgax hit the big time in this fight. The Winner is Vilgax
Hyperstarman
(Emerald Heroes is still the best Death Battle track and no one can change my mind)
This is a matchup that really caught my eye for a while as all of Ridley’s other opponents didn’t really interest me in the slightest. That and well, I really like Ben 10 alot so another rep from the series is always a plus for me. Still surprised we got Ben vs Hal as an episode, that was my most wanted since forever and it actually happening is still a bit surreal to me to this day. Anyways let's break this down into categories from experience/skill, abilities/arsenal, strength, speed and survivability. For experience and skill, I’d give it to Vilgax pretty handily as he’s been doing battle for much longer all the way back in the 1700s while Ridley hasn’t shown to be around for that long. Vilgax has also shown to be much more skilled in battle unlike Ridley who’s generally shown to be a vicious monster, lacking in any real skill. Now for abilities and arsenal, Ridley doesn’t really carry any sort of equipment on him while Vilgax does, though not much. And Ridley’s physiology grants him a wider range of abilities than Vilgax and his flight allows him to control the pace of the battle and can make it a bit tricky to pin down so this point goes to Ridley. Now onto the main stat trinity starting with speed and while Ridley keeping up with Samus’s ship is impressive, Vilgax flying from Earth to Petropia in a short time trumps that giving that edge to Vilgax. Up next is survivability and Ridley takes that easily being able to survive more fatal wounds than Vilgax thanks to his really good regen. It all comes down to strength and it’s a close call for this one. While Ridley may be superior to Vilgax slightly in their base forms, Vilgax with his Malware armor is able to turn the tides in his favor as it was capable of taking on Ben’s 2nd most powerful alien, Atomix, giving Vilgax the strength advantage. So overall it was a close call but with his speed, skill, experience, and strength boost thanks to his Malware armor, Vilgax claims victory in this hard fought battle. Looks like Ridley’s big time in the spotlight was cut short in this fight.
DekHead
Kind of funny how I haven’t been able to contribute to the blog much despite being a huge fan of Ben 10. Schedule’s been booked lately I guess.
At base form, this is a surprisingly close matchup. Ridley has a slight AP advantage with superior mobility, range, and regeneration meaning that he could take better control of the fight. But Vilgax still has his own ways of keeping up. Flying to Petropia is far faster than Ridley’s best speeds, and while he doesn’t have that same mobility advantage anymore, he should still possess those speeds on a reactionary level since his physicality has shown to be fairly consistent over the years. And with his greater intellect combined with centuries worth of experience, he could likely outthink the more single minded Ridley.
This is where the battle is rather tricky with how it goes if you limit them at their base. Vilgax does still possess weapons such as his laser sword and the ability to shoot energy blasts from his hands meaning that he does have some options for dealing heavier damage and closing the range to some extent. And since he’s frequently shown to damage Ben’s mid tiers like Diamondhead and Chromastone, the former of whom was launched to the moon without damage, not to mention surviving the destruction of a ship worth 11 gigatons of TNT, the AP gap likely wouldn’t be drastic enough to enable Ridley a one-shot even if he were to get close.
Plus, while Ridley’s healing factor is a good method of letting him outlast Vilgax, it’s not immediate enough for him to make sure that anything Vilgax will do won’t result in lasting damage. And Vilgax’s own long range attacks combined with superior speed means that he doesn’t have to get into killing range to wear it down. Sure, it’s impressive given that he could regenerate from wounds down to the bone, but it’s not instant and still requires him to consume flesh to heal from deadlier injuries. Meaning while it wouldn’t be easy, it’s likely Vilgax could force Ridley into a corner and eventually score the killing blow.
With all that said, throw Malgax into the equation and uhhh yeah. Ridley dies hard. Malware himself was able to survive the moon exploding on him, along with surviving the planet destroying cosmic ray from Way Big, and Malgax being able to beat down the stronger Atomix, meaning he easily takes the AP gap without any real issue at all. And thanks to Malware’s absorbed tech, Malgax has counters to every single advantage and ability Ridley could feasibly throw at him. His plethora of laser weapons lets him close the range without issue, the jetpacks absorbed can match Ridley’s flight, and even Ridley’s healing factor stands no chance against the Tachyon cannon, which can lock onto his DNA and destroy him on the subcellular level.
Personally, I think Vilgax should keep Malgax if this were real, since he never lost the armor and it was his final appearance. But even without it, he’d likely still win, just by an incredibly slim margin.
It wouldn’t be long until the space pirate runs out of Omni-tricks and Vilgax was able to get Rid-ley of him.
SoMaShadow
(Let’s get the Ben 10 runback)
All I can say is hell yeah! I’ve been a super big fan of Ben 10 for ages, and I really love this matchup, so I’m really grateful to have the chance to be on this blog - it means a lot! Coming from Ben’s unfortunate loss to Hal (still should’ve fought Geo Stelar), we get a fight with the resident big bad, Vilgax, and who better to put him up against than the tyrannical cunning god of death, Ridley! Unknown to most, I’m actually also a huge fan of Metroid, so this fight is a match made in heaven for me. Plus, villain episodes are always super fun.
Straight off the bat, Vilgax has got some really good advantages which will help him out in the fight, namely being faster, stronger, more durable, smarter and much more experienced. When the fight first starts out Ridley will have an edge in overall strength and power, but the lead isn’t overwhelming to the point where Vilgax can’t keep up - far from it. Ridley has shown strength of up to 5.74 Gigatons (via tearing apart a mountain with his plasma breath), which is impressive, but not too much greater than Vilgax pummeling Diamondhead and his crystal constructs, which can survive force of up to 2.27 Gigatons (from when Diamondhead was launched to the moon without any damage). Both combatants also have multiple feats of going toe-to-toe with heroes like Samus and Ben 10, creating large shockwaves with their attacks, and shattering large structures; like Ridley breaking apart stone totems and Vilgax destroying a head of Mount Rushmore. So Ridley has a little more than twice the destructive output that Vilgax does, but it hardly matters when speed is taken into account.
Ridley has been able to fly from the ground into space within seconds, and can leave afterimages from his attacks, but his real showings stem from keeping up with Samus’ Gunship mid-flight. Samus’ ship has been able to traverse across galaxies over the span of six months. Sure, that doesn’t sound too impressive at first glance, but to be able to pull such a feat off, Samus’ ship would have to be moving at speeds of over 10 million times faster than light, and Ridley can both fight and out-fly her ship in fights. Quite the accomplishments, but Vilgax regularly performs feats even greater. Such as when he blocked the ultraviolet light blasts of Chromastone (which are 100% actual light), and when he reacted faster than XLR8, who moves so fast that time appears to be frozen. Not only this, but Vilgax was able to travel from Earth to Petropia in a short timeframe, which is at the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy, and to do so, Vilgax would require speeds of over 213 million times faster than light - over 21 times faster than Ridley’s best speed feat. Additionally, Vilgax can keep up with Jetray in mid-flight combat, who can not only make these same kinds of trips, but can travel into hyperspace with his sheer speed alone. What this means for Vilgax, I’m not too sure, but it’s definitely more impressive than anything Ridley has shown.
So while Ridley might be a little over twice as strong, he’d be hard-pressed to actually land a hit on someone 21 times faster than he is. In the time Ridley could deal his 5.74 Gigatons of damage, Vilgax could deal 47.67 Gigatons, which is much more than Ridley could handle. “But Ridley is the Cunning God of Death! He could outsmart or out-maneuver Vilgax” I hear you say, but the problem with that, is despite his kick-ass moniker, Vilgax is much more intelligent, skilled, and experienced. Vilgax has been alive for over 400 years, fighting in his home planet’s military, leading his own army, and successfully stealing the Omnitrix time and time again, even if he does get defeated in the end. Big V is the Conqueror of 10 Worlds for a damn good reason - the dude is hella good at kicking ass. He single handedly defeated the Galactic Enforcers and destroyed the strongest champion of the 10 worlds he conquered. He’s a galactic warlord feared among the cosmos and has engaged in wars far beyond Ridley’s years. Not to mention that Vilgax managed to trick the Dagon, an extra-dimensional entity which took over hundreds of dimensions, and Ridley is fighting in a bloodlusted rage half of the time, so the big space lizard ain’t getting this one over Vilgax.
So, Vilgax can take him out while he’s still in his base form, but bringing Malgax into it just widens Ridley’s grave, since with Malware enhancing him, Vilgax was able to punch Diamondhead all the way to Galvan B and beat down Atomix, which is Ben’s second strongest alien in his Omnitrix, even stronger than Way Big. For reference, Way Big was able to overpower a conquest ray capable of destroying Pluto in a single blast (nearly 9 Yottatons), and Atomix is stronger than that, yet he still got beat down by Vilgax. Even comparing this to when Samus destroyed a star, the difference in power is miniscule, but Vilgax is still way too fast for Ridley to catch. And despite Ridley having the advantage in mobility and range via flight and projectiles, Vilgax has fought opponents like that before, and Ridley’s size would be a double-edged sword, since he’d be a bigger target for Vilgax to hit. And with weapons like the Tachyon Cannon, or his lasers that he had in Alien Force/Ultimate Alien, he’d be primed to knock Ridley out of the skies and take him out, if not just straight-up kill him while he’s in the air. Vilgax’s only real disadvantage is if he went into his true form, but Vilgax is smart enough to know not to use it when engaging an airborne opponent, plus, Ridley’s healing factor is dependent on consuming human flesh, and Vilgax clearly isn’t a human. And though Ridley is known for cheating death, Vilgax isn’t going to give Ridley the chance to escape the battle - he’s gonna kill him right then and there, no hesitation.
I mean, we’re talking about a guy who is such a chad, that his home planet is named after him in respect and reverence. He’s got the balls to fight on par with planet-busters and has his name recognised galaxy-wide for his conquering of over 10 worlds. Vilgax just has the strength, speed, durability, intelligence, skill, ruthlessness, and experience necessary to make it game over for Ridley. The winner is Vilgax.

Ah yes, Ridley, Ridley, Ridley. One of Nintendo’s most intimidating and popular villains. Considering he managed to clamber his way into Smash, it’s no surprise that he’s hella popular in Vs Debates. The problem is, however, he has himself quite the matchup possibility. You could pit him against his buddy, K. Rool, tho recently Blackbeard has become the kroc’s favored opponent. Rayquaza is also an option and hell, I even batted for Mashtooth from Starfy once.
But more and more recently one MU has struck everyone has interesting, and in all likelihood, if Ridley were to get in, this is the MU i’d think would be best.
I speak of course of Vilgax, the big bad of Ben 10. The last MU Ben 10 had was… interesting to say the least. Ain’t gon dig too deep into that can of worms, but let’s just say for some people, the series needs a palate cleanser. And I do believe we have found it in this fight.
Right off the bat there’s something very interesting about this fight. Both these feckers have pretty much gone through temporary power-ups through their lifetimes. So deciding who gets what is somewhat of a hassle.
Personally I believe a lot of Ridley’s extra stuff is rather unusable, as Meta Ridley was less of a powerup and more a giant iron lung built around him, and Omega was him juiced up on Phazon, which got wiped out the same day he got on the stuff.
As for Vilgax, strangely a lot of his stuff is somewhat better to use. In particular, the Malgax Armor and the True Form, as in the former’s case it doesn’t seem like he ever got rid of it and in the latter’s case it’s kinda literally him.
That outta the way, what’s our stats looking like?
In base both get in the gigatons range, and Vilgax has a slight advantage here, though it’s slight. Ridley’s only a few gigatons behind him and can be argued to get around planet if scaled to some iffy manga feats
But it’s when we look at speed that things start to tip in Vilgax’s favor. At 213 million times the speed of light compared to Ridley’s 2 million, Vilgax is over 100 times faster than the Cunning God of Death, enough to reasonably be able to defeat Ridley pretty handily.
But okay, you ask, what about Ridley’s planet sauce? Well in that case say hello to one of the very few forms that probably can be used, the Malgax Armor. With this baby on, Vilgax scales to Way Big’s Yottaton feat, putting him at Large Planet level to Ridley’s Planet.
The Malgax Armor is also able to curb Ridley’s biggest advantage here, his regeneration and utter refusal to be put down. Ridley’s survived a ton of shit, from being blown up, impaled, launches off of cliffs and even completely cellular evaporation after Samus beat the Phazon out of him. But Malgax’s Tachyon Cannon destroys things at a subcellular level, and Ridley’s regeneration is always described as him regrowing cells. Ergo, if Vilgax gets even a single shot off from this thing, it’s leaving a wound Ridley’s not gonna be able to reliably walk off of.
Ridley’s advantages here start running thin the more you look at it, and Vilgax is well equipped with the tools and abilities to get the job done and put down this murderous space dragon once and for all.
Against Vilgax, the Cunning God of Death looks rather Sui-bpar and Generis while Vilgax will end up scuttling this pirate
Not bad for a series that had its last matchup end it a literal stomp, eh?

Cant say to much on this match up.
Hot take: I cant say I really buy planet or mftl for ridley or the metroid franchise in general
Explained quite well here:
As for mftl:

Hyperspace is used for mftl flight for ships
Ships are stated to have warp signatures, and we see what appears to be warp space in a cutscene

Supplementary material also states multiple times that the ships are using warp space to travel, and Pirates even use wormhole technology

Ridley never seems to react Samus” ship when it is using hyperspace
As for vilgax, his scaling is far more clear cut, and just in general has better consistent stats.
I favor Vilgax as the winner.

Cool matchup. Hope this happens soon
Gonna start this off saying I can’t really buy planet level Metroid now, unfortunate as it is. Aside from the fact most of them are from the debatably canon Samus and Joey manga (Alternate continuity so hmmmmmmmmm), the Leviathan Impact really isn’t a good feat to use imo. Me and a few other friends tried searching multiple times to find any sort of log entry implying Tallon Metroids were at least close to the blast, but I found nothing. This is ignoring the fact we don’t know how far the Tallon Metroids were from the blast even if legit, meaning surface area finna cuck it badly. Until someone shows me a log I could’ve very well missed, I’ll have to doubt Metroid being that stronk
But hey no big deal. Ridley is still island via destroying that mountain on Zebes, which has 960x Earth gravity, right?. Weeeeeeeeell not exactly. The Nintendo Official Guide Book for Super Metroid gives us the mass and diameter of Zebes. I tried my best to match up the diameter and mass with Star Destroyer, and got only 5x our gravity. That’s...way lower than the 960x gravity. Granted, you could argue the new material is more reliable and what not, but that’s a debate for another time. Benefit of the doubt, using 960x gravity, Riddles is borderline island. Oh, and outpacing Samus’ ship is MFTL, about 10 million c specifically. There’s some contention because of lol Hyperspace shenanigans but whatever, should likely be fine regardless
None of that matters though since Vilgax should likely win anyways. He has a direct feat of surviving a blast that would cover 100 miles, which is 11 gigatons, and breaking Diamondhead’s crystals adds consistency, since Diamondhead could survive being smacked to the moon pretty quickly, which gets mountain-small island+. As for speed, Vilgax has traveled to the edge of the Milky Way in at least an hour, putting him at speeds over 20x greater than Ridley. Not really too inconsistent either, since The Great One, a tick-like monster back in season 2, is established to have gone from planet to planet and galaxy to galaxy destroying planets, and was stated that it destroyed Cannonbolt's species' planet a week before arriving on Earth, meaning possible intergalactic travel in just a week. Given how Max, Gwen, and Ben managed to react to it when it impacted Earth, it should be fair game to scale that to Vilgax. While Ridley has been a space pirate for at least 100 years, Vilgax has been around long enough to fight George Washington, back in 1773, making him at least twice as old, and giving him overall more combat skill and military tactics than Ridley. Ridley does have regeneration, but he specifically needs to consume a living or dead organism to do that, dude ain’t like Wolverine, and I highly doubt Vilgax would give him the chance for it.
Oh and Malgax just wipes lol
Overall I think Vilgy’s got this. He’s at least comparable in power and durability, is much faster, and easily more skilled and experienced. Ridley’s raw cunning, mobility, and tenacity can certainly put up a close fight, but I think after a very long and drawn out fight, Vilgax will cut down the space pirate to shreds.
Something something Ridley will be as dead as Prime 4 god please Nintendo giv-
Eh ... I disagree with Cyber and Phantom Falcon on this one. Just because it's described as "warping" in-universe, that doesn't necessarily mean they teleported across time or space, with the exception of that Space Pirate example as it's explicitly stated that they came out of a wormhole.
ReplyDeleteHell, the most common definition of warping when it comes to movement is when something is being pulled across a distance more than anything, meaning yes: They are physically moving through space at that speed.
The arguments for Zebes not having 960 times gravity are also pretty weak if I'm being honest. Especially that whole power-grip argument. She only needed that equipment because she lost her power-suit AND was on Zebes. Every other game that takes place when she's not on Zebes, she grab and hang onto the ledges just fine without that piece of equipment. If anything it's evidence FOR Zebes having stronger gravity, NOT AGAINST. And people say r/CharacterRant is worth listening too.LOL
Oh, and most of their arguments against the planet-level scaling for Samus and Dark Samus is also bunk as well, considering that being able to completely atomize something even when a planet-plus explosion didn't completely atomize it still means the AP of that attack is in that range.
Oh, and let's not forget that the Leviathan impact is what brought the Metroid Prime to Talon IV in the first place, meaning that METROID PRIME IN HIS BASE is capable of surviving planet-level plus events.
Their debunk of the Wave Beam is also stupid, since in one of the descriptions it's outright stated to pass through solid objects. Official descriptions and in-game lore > stuff that you can actually do in-game. This is because a video game developer is rather limited in their ability to convey how powerful a character is without making the game outright unplayable at times.
Oh, and the argument against Dark Samus moving to other planets is bunk, as they're deliberately misinterpreting what the developer is actually saying in order to suit they're own agenda.
The only arguments they made that I think actually hold some water were the Samus and Joey Manga (Though I do believe Samus by the end of the manga MIGHT scale to a few of those. IDK, it's been forever since I've read that manga.).
Oh, and I agree with Granbull the most. Scaling Vilgax to Way-Big should honestly beat pretty much anything Ridley reasonable scales too since he doesn't scale in any way to the top-tier Metroid Prime stuff.
DeletePlus ... with Malware, he could be potentially scaled higher then Feedback, assuming that the statement of Atomix being the second strongest Alien in Ben's Omnitrix also scales applies to Feedback as well. IDK, it's been forever since I've seen Ben 10.
Damn ... I just realized most of my first comment was just ranting about r/CharacterRant
Deleteapologies y'all.
Considering Metroids were kept on board Leviathans and there are Fission Metroids almost exclusively kept in the Impact Crater, where the Leviathan struck Tallon IV, I think it's safe to scale Tallon Metroid durability to nearly, if not all, of the impact power of the Leviathan.
ReplyDeleteThat said the blog is generally correct I'd say because Malgax was used, although if Omega Ridley was considered the natural regenerative properties of phazon would counter the Tachyon cannon and Omega Ridley would have far better attack potency due to massively upscaling from Small Star.
Base Ridley loses to Malgax though so fair enough.
