Death Battle Predictions: Moon Knight VS Azrael

Faith is a living, daring confidence in God's grace, so sure and certain that a man could stake his life on it a thousand times.” - Martin Luther

Moon Knight, The Lunar Legionnaire and Fist of Khonshu from Marvel Comics

Azrael, The Angel of Death and the Order of Saint Dumas Knight from DC Comics.

In worlds broken and in disarray, the things in which people fight for can become lost in sight or unclear as time goes by. But as the side of evil grows larger, the side of good rises against it, for through the dark glass are two vigilantes that answer to no one else but the holy figures they are in utmost servitude under, leaving behind their lives as special forces, as marine and mercenary.

Their weapons are sharp, armor highly advanced, with masks that hide their truly unhinged and split personality driven nature, and will kill anyone unashamed in the pursuit of justice. They are some of the most skilled and formidable martial artists in their universes, but when the servants of the night are pitted in a fight to the death, who will be the mighty fallen and who will walk away as their righteous executioner? Will Moon Knight-Fall at the hands of Jean-Paul Valley? Or will Azrael become a Spector in Marc’s wake? The moon shines bright as we find out who would win a DEATH BATTLE!

Before We Start…

This is a standard Marvel VS DC blog in terms of what we are using. For Moon Knight, we will be focusing on the Marvel Comic 616 version, and for Azrael we will be using all mainline comics between Post-Crisis, Flashpoint, and Rebirth, seeing as Infinite Frontier has made everything canon. But for an additional note, the Azrael we will be focusing on is Jean-Paul Valley, as while there are multiple Azraels, he is the one who has the most content, is the main Azrael, and is the one that makes the most sense to put up against Moon Knight.

Though for an additional note, due to the way Moon Knight's powers fluctuate based on the phase of the Moon, we are going to operate under the assumption that the fight is taking place during a full moon, as it is the peak of Moon Knight's natural potential.

That being said, we also aren’t going to be factoring in the scenario of Khonshu possessing Marc’s body in this fight, for the reasons being that:

  1. Khonshu amplifying Moon Knight’s strength while in his body is inconsistent in and of itself.

  2. It’s also incredibly inconsistent across Moon Knight’s comics whether Khonshu even chooses to do this in the first place.

  3. Khonshu’s powers would mean he could stat and hax stomp Azrael to death, making the debate pointless.

All in all, Khonshu taking charge of Moon Knight’s body is both incredibly hypothetical given its selective nature and would render any form of debate pointless if he did, so we won’t be factoring it into our verdicts.

Background

Moon Knight

“I am Moon Knight. The bearer of the mantle of Khonshu. Khonshu the justice bringer. I am vengeance.”

At a first glance, you wouldn’t think of Marc Spector as someone to write anything home about. But in actuality, behind the man that is Marc is one who lives a quadruple life as a billionaire, a NYC cab driver, and as a superhero who strikes fear into the hearts of man upon a night’s sky.

How could one man wear this many hats? Well sadly, Marc Spector’s childhood is not for the faint of heart. Born as the first son to a Rabbi who had escaped Nazi Germany at a young age, Marc and his family faced constant discrimination over their culture. Once even culminating with a close friend of Marc’s family, Yitz Perlman (real name Ernst), turning out to be a Nazi deserter whom Marc had to face. Unfortunately, the trauma Marc experienced from the event led to Marc developing a serious case of Dissociative Identity Disorder that would stick with him for the rest of his life. Additionally, Marc started developing the aliases of Steven Grant and Jake Lockley, which would eventually get him admitted to a psychiatric hospital. Inside, the voice of Khonshu, Egyptian God of the Moon, would make itself present on Marc’s head, claiming to be his true father. Eventually, Marc cut it all and ran away once his father died.

Years later, after being discharged by US Marine Corps and CIA and entering the world of illegal street fights, Marc and his friend Frenchie would become mercenaries alongside skull-faced psychopath, Raul Bushman. Their travels would lead them to Sudan, Egypt where they would raid an archeological site and kill archaeologist, Peter Alraune. Realizing this as the last straw, Marc and Frenchie went rogue and helped Peter’s daughter, Marlene, escape from Bushman. Infuriated by Marc’s betrayal, Bushman fatally wounded Marc and left him to die in the desert. However, Marc was able to push through the pain, winding up at a tomb before eventually succumbing to his wounds and dying. However, that tomb happened to have an idol statue of Khonshu, and upon Marc’s death, Khonshu offered the recently deceased Spector a deal. In exchange for another chance at life, Marc would be revived into something new, a light in the darkness of the night, a fist of Khonshu’s will and vengeance, an avenging angel of the moon. That night, Marc Spector was reborn as Moon Knight.

With his newfound superhero persona, Moon Knight would put an end to Bushman’s operations and move to New York City alongside Marlene and Frenchie to pursue his new career as Khonshu’s agent of vengeance. And he was successful, even being in different teams like the West Coast Avengers and the Secret Avengers. Eventually, he’d adopt the identities of Steven and Jake as a way to further improve his methods of stopping crime, using them to investigate cases. Steven is a multimillionaire movie producer who’s usually the voice of reason inside Marc, even if he’s a bit narcissistic at times. Meanwhile, Jake is a cab driver who has a more brutal and violent way of looking at things, making Marc a lot more fond of him when he’s around. However, they all are one singular person at the end of the day, and are living rent-free in Marc’s head alongside Khonshu.

…That is, until things went out of Marc’s hands.

Changing between personalities so much eventually made Marc lose grasp of himself, and Khonshu’s true intentions were never the best. Khonshu started tormenting Marc, and he manipulated him, taking advantage of his fragile state of mind so that he could become a more vengeful avatar. After a while, a psychologist told Marc that Khonshu had “colonized” his mind, making himself present at each of the personalities’ most psychotic moments. It would all culminate in an illusion made by Khonshu, where Marc and allies from his life journey would become trapped in an abusive mental hospital. This was a plan from Khonshu to break Marc’s mind, so that he could inhabit the body for himself and enter this world. After an intense session of going through different lives as the other personas, Marc decided to confront them all and erase them. But that wasn’t it. Truth is, he can’t get rid of them, because they’re already a part of him. As such, Marc realized that he didn’t need to ignore or delete these other parts of himself, but rather embrace them. With this new-found self-discovery, he faced Khonshu face-to-face, telling him that he’s never going to be cured, but that he can still live. This is who Marc Spector is. Who Steven Grant is. Who Jake Lockley is. They are Moon Knight, and they reigned over Khonshu’s control.

After reconciling with his other personalities, Marc finally got control over them once and for all, and fixed his relationship with Khonshu. He’d return to his duty as a vigilante, but would discover that he had a daughter with Marlene, named Diatrice. However, his time as a family guy would be cut short when Khonshu started having visions of the end of the world at the hands of Mephisto. Moon Knight would take the challenge and face this new threat, but in return, Khonshu took his powers and tried to take over Manhattan. However, with the help of the Avengers and… the fucking Phoenix Force for some reason, Marc managed to stop Khonshu again and bring peace to the city.

Even after passing through so much, Marc Spector still goes strong as Moon Knight, followed by his other selves. And every time the full moon rises, you can bet he’ll be there, patrolling the city streets in the shadows. And if you encounter him, pray to whatever god you believe in, because the moonlit presence of the Fist of Khonshu does not go unnoticed.

Azrael

“My name is Azrael, and I am probably the closest thing you'll ever see to an avenging angel. At least in this life.”

If you were to look at Jean-Paul Valley, you wouldn’t expect much to be going on with him, a computer science student who by all means seemed to be heading for a good life, nothing exceptional, but good!

And then everything started to change when his father, quite literally, showed up and died on his doorstep in a suit of armor (or, in his dormitory, point is he pulled up dead). Enter the Order of St. Dumas, a cult with questionable means of justice. As it turns out, Jean was made into a fighter since his very early life, and even was a test tube baby prepared for this exact purpose for when the day came. After his father's death, the Order immediately decided to have Jean become the next Bringer of Death, Azrael. They unlocked the System within him to allow his prowess as a fighter, and killer, to skyrocket exponentially… at the cost of the bloodlust that came with it.

However, despite having the skills of a killer, and the System being brutal to put it lightly, Jean is a good man at heart. This resulted in Jean even managing to save Batman when he got captured, causing Azrael to ally with the Batfamily, and work within Gotham as another member of the iconic team! Despite Jean-Paul’s new status and what he had to fight against, things were going good!

When Batman’s back was broken by Bane, Azrael took up the mantle of the Caped Crusader. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as successful as one would think. While Azrael was almost on par with the Batman as a warrior, his method of fighting came with brutality, a slowly descending mental state, and the System’s influence growing to make him want to dispense not justice, but wrath. It came to a head, as he let someone, willingly, fall to their death. Azrael had gone from a protector and a worthy successor to Batman, to a madman crusader of vengeance. This inevitably caused Bruce, once he had recovered, to confront and defeat Azrael, taking the mantle of Batman back.

Beaten both back to his senses and out of the Azbat suit, Jean was lost, without a purpose, and without a home and suit. That was until Batman sought him out again, funded him, gave him the Azrael suit again, and granted him the opportunity to learn about himself and the Order of St. Dumas so he could figure out who he really was.

After bouncing around, meeting Ra's al Ghul, killing a fake Azrael, learning he’s a test tube baby that temporarily drove him insane (wait what-), and getting better after saving someone, being a guardian angel, saving Gotham from a pandemic, and surviving a erupting volcano on a island that was burning down after the System temporarily got its own body (wait double what-), he finally managed to destroy the Order of St. Dumas, preventing anyone from being spawned like him again. After that, Azrael ended up wandering around for the most part in terms of what his focus was. He dealt with a conspiracy rock star who was forming a cult to destroy Gotham, arrested Bane, helped Gotham rebuild after the cataclysm, and met a second Azrael who he was forced to kill, Azrael finally found somewhere to relatively settle down, a nice castle-like structure outside of the town Ossaville, where he had more episodic “villain of the issue” adventures.

Of course, after all this bouncing around and vengeance the Angel of Death brought, a man can make enemies. Enemies that would do anything to see a man killed. It all accumulated in one fateful night where two of Azrael’s greatest enemies, and one of his former allies in the destruction of St. Dumas, shot Azrael twice and tackled him off a towering building to his death. Fighting till the end, Jean was unable to know peace from the constant desire for war that the System brought, but perhaps in the afterlife, he’ll maybe, finally, know true peace from the strife.

…Or at least, that’s one way his story can end, as there is a happier one that occurs for our dear Angel of Death, thanks to the reboot known as the Flashpoint bringing him back! With the reboot reviving Azrael, he was put in a far better position in life than he was prior, though that much should be a given since there was borderline nowhere to go but up. He had camaraderie with Batwing, a place in the Batfamily, and in general a far better life than the one he had been given before (he had a weird experience being controlled by Darkseid once, but that was brief, was weird though).

He even ended up learning more about the System thanks to a chance encounter with another individual who had the System implanted in their mind, Brielle Arnier, AKA the angel Sariel. This encounter with another like him led him to reflect and communicate with the System more to learn about the System's origins, and to learn the fact that it was born from a Motherbox! This knowledge ended up shaking the System itself in confidence, as it no longer was truly a creation of God, forcing both Jean-Paul and the System to come to terms with each other. Jean-Paul admitted he was not innocent in the war Azrael had waged, and that he cannot blame it all on the System. And the System, even if it was never an Angel of God, still has a purpose.

Azrael would then stop Sariel from using the same Motherbox used to create the System in order to awaken the System in all those who have it dormant. He’d do so not by overpowering her, but by pleading with her and getting through to her about the fact that while both of them have endured and caused great pain in the name of striking down those they deemed unholy, it doesn’t have to be that way, and that they can become something better. With this, they convinced Sariel in a moment of hesitation and a swift motion, to destroy the Motherbox. Azrael had stopped her without striking her down. He had changed, and rather than an Angel of Death, it would be more apt to describe Azrael now as an Angel of Mercy. One who will spare those who can still see the light and be pulled away from the darkness.

Though watch out. While Azrael may be an Angel of Mercy, if you dare to threaten those he cares for, the innocent, and those who cannot protect themselves, Mercy may become Death yet again, and may God help you when the flaming wrath of Jean-Paul Valley descends upon you.

Experience, Intelligence & Skill

Moon Knight

Being the Fist of Khonshu is no easy task. Thankfully for the lunar god, Marc was well prepared long before his time as the white clad vigilante. Before becoming Moon Knight, Marc Spector was a mercenary, a marine, and CIA agent. With this past, he fought in 3 African Wars and 5 South American revolutions. He also picked up some tricks during this time, like how to “withstand any type of torture or brainwashing”. Combine that with later escapades and times fighting with the Avengers, we’d say Marc’s experience is well up to par.

Moon Knight was definitely not slacking during these times as well, as we see he’s picked up plenty of skills on the way like being able to sense a person via shifts in the air or being able to catch projectiles mid-fight without looking. Moon Knight naturally is among the best fighters in Marvel, being able to contend in combat with Marvel’s most skilled heroes. He’s fought Iron Fist and a bloodlusted Black Panther. Moon Knight has even fought Shadowland Daredevil, who at the time was more skilled than both Shang Chi and Iron Fist, with the former acknowledging Marc’s skill despite him being rash. This would make sense considering Moon Knight was stated to be “versatile in all martial arts” like savate and hapkido. It’s also been stated that Marc has mastered every weapon ever invented. This is more than just a statement as Marc has been able to use all of his odd weapons skillfully, especially at a long range such as the crazy shots he hits with his crescent darts. Perfect for if you need to throw some random bullshit.

Speaking of, despite all the funny memes, “Random Bullshit” is a genuine tactic Marc employs in fights. Effectively, Marc overwhelms his opponent with nearly everything he has, which leads to them slipping up with all the constant factors they have to worry about, including Marc himself! Such as the case where he fought Black Knight, throwing everything he has at him to overwhelm and eventually trick him into getting right where he wants him. Throwing nigh-everything you have at once might make Moon Knight not seem smart, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Moon Knight is an excellent battle strategist able to win entire fights before they even start, especially against stronger foes. He’s been able to improvise entire plans on the spot that work in his favor, lead foes using unconventional means right where he wants them, and even pick up small details that he can use against his foes later, such as the time he deduced a soldier had epilepsy… and gave him a seizure… yikes.

He’s been able to figure out entire crimes just by momentarily looking at the scene, and he always makes sure to keep these deductive abilities while fighting crime too. He’s been able to deduce a foe was attacking at several places at once, figure out how to stop a powerful virus that took control of all but a dozen heroes, strike pressure points to defeat those who couldn’t feel pain, utilize the environment and drop items to his advantage, use a villain’s need for an Ultron head to depower him, escape a death trap with a can of beer, and famously “take over the world”, beating and/or overwhelming plenty of Avengers all over the world with prep time. He really IS Marvel Batman.

However, Moon Knight is like Batman in more ways than one. Moon Knight is extremely stealthy, being able to effectively disappear into darkness right in front of foes’ eyes. He’s been able to just appear and disappear in places in a moment's notice casually with no explanation, even appearing on massive buildings with plenty of people watching without anyone noticing. He’s been able to sneak away from characters with powerful senses like the aforementioned Shadowland Daredevil, and even Venom. He can even get the jump on and battle Hunter’s Moon, another Fist of Khonshu, who has the experience of every past Moon Knight with the Gift of Chorus. Which is more impressive considering Moon Knights have been around ever since the Ice Age.

Considering Marc does know escape artistry, this does make sense. Although it’s much more than “disappearing and reappearing”. Marc is more creative than that. Seemingly, Moon Knight can slip into his other or other costumes in a moment's notice and does this nearly all the time. With this skill, he can play dress up, whether it be for infiltration, like when he disguised himself as a Hispanic cable guy, or for traps. One notable scenario being when a foe named Taurus, after thinking he’d killed Marc Spector in a crash, ran to a random military base with a plane. He went to one of the planes and threatened the pilot to fly away. However, in a moment's notice, once Taurus looked away, it was revealed the pilot was Moon Knight himself. Ignoring him somehow predicting that this random guy would go to this random base, to specifically a random plane (and it WORKING); Moon Knight got the villain right in an enclosed area with nowhere to escape. Moon Knight is pretty smart as you can see, and it’s clearly not because he knows Arabic, French, and Astrology.

Azrael

As a member of the Batfamily, it’s no surprise that Azrael is absurdly skilled between his own training and the System’s knowledge. Due to the past Azrael's memories being stored within him, in Batman's own words “...Abruptly new skills become available to him”, along with the instincts that those previous Azrael’s give him thanks to the System. But in terms of how he compares to those around him, Nightwing has considered him his equal in knowledge, and Nightwing knows all martial arts. Similarly, Ra's al Ghul, the leader of the League of Assassins, has complimented his skill several times, even stating that some of his moves were previously thought to be impossible, and saying he’s seen raw martial skill on the level of Azrael only once before. He’s fought Deathstroke evenly in a sword fight, battled Cyber-Assassin robots that were (while imperfect) programmed with the knowledge of the last few months of the Batfamily, and beat the Black Protocol, a program that Batman made to stump himself, and Batwing described as impossible.

Azrael also is very competent at handling ranged attacks, as he’s caught extremely small projectiles like darts in his hands, caught a knife when he wasn’t even looking, cut projectiles like spears out of the air before, and has handled large amount of projectiles like catching and deflecting an entire crowd of people throwing bricks at him at once.

Like all members of the Batfamily, he’s potent at the art of stealth. He’s able to stealth around the likes of Catwoman, breach all of Oracles defenses without tripping an alarm, and sneak away from the likes of Superman. This last bit of sneaking away from absurd level super senses is remarkably consistent across the Batfamily, such as Red Hood vanishing on Supergirl, Nightwing sneak attacking Batman with Superman's powers, and the numerous, numerous times Batman has snuck away from Superman.

Azrael’s also extremely smart as well. Even before becoming Azrael, Jean was a college graduate student who was an expert in computer science, he’s operated a whole fleet of Batwings simultaneously, and, thanks to his chemistry class, managed to neutralize a ‘universal dissolvant’ by using an electrical charge to shift it’s molecular structure. He’s identified the location of a bomb by only a glance at the room it was in, identified how to shut down an entire facility's trackers after only noticing the sensors, built the living arsenal known as the Azbat suit, and utterly befuddled the Joker. Most impressively, with assistance from the knowledge of the System, he managed to make progress on building a motherbox. Although it did fail, that doesn’t discredit the fact he managed to make progress on it at all.

Azrael has a lot of experience against extremely skilled opponents, from Batman to Catwoman to Bane to Deathstroke. He’s battled a variety of highly skilled opponents and come out on top. He’s also experienced in fighting larging groups of enemies, such as defeating five of the best League of Assassin Assassins, or battling an entire hallways worth of armed St. Dumas soldiers without being hit once, among many other feats to show his experience in fighting large groups. Though of course, the System giving him access to the memories of the past Azraels gives him over 800 years of experience seeing as the System has existed since the 1100’s, which is to say a lot.

Equipment (Random Bullshit)

Moon Knight

*Random Bullshit GO!!!!*

It's indeed random and some bullshit…….

GO

Crescent Darts

Moon Knight’s most famous long-range weapon. By either grabbing one of his utility belts or firing them from his gauntlets, Moon Knight can barrage his enemies with crescent-moon shaped shurikens. With just his regular Crescent Darts, Moon Knight has used them with pinpoint accuracy to disarm others and help lead fights into his favor. Over the years, Moon Knight has also used different types of Crescent Darts such as:

Razor Crescent Darts: Moon Knight’s most standard Crescent Darts which he typically uses to disarm his opponent, split guns in half, or even pick locks.

Gas Crescent Darts: Once thrown, these Crescent Darts will release a sleeping gas that will knock someone out in just a few seconds.

Parachute Crescent Darts: Once fired, Moon Knight uses these Crescent Darts to create parachutes in order to slow his descent.

Rope Crescent Darts: By using two Crescent Darts attached to ropes, Moon Knight can maneuver and swing around buildings with ease. Like his good friend Spider-Man.

Explosive Crescent Darts: Moon Knight’s most destructive Crescent Darts because once thrown, these Crescent Darts will detonate and create small explosions.

Adamantium Crescent Darts: Without a doubt, Moon Knight’s most effective Crescent Dart. Made out of Adamantium, these Crescent Darts are so sharp that they can easily penetrate any surface they hit, including the skin of Grey Hulk and the Wendigos.

Truncheon

Moon Knight’s standard melee weapon for up-close combat (except the times he throws it). Similar to a club or baton, Moon Knight’s Truncheon is perfectly tailored to beating the ever-loving snot of whatever criminal comes his way. In terms of his original Truncheon, Moon Knight had it modified to include an alternate mode that turns it into a Nunchuck as well as a grappling hook and rope that he uses to tie up his enemies or climb to the top of buildings.

Eventually, Moon Knight would upgrade his Truncheon to one made out of Adamantium. With this upgrade, Moon Knight can magnetically call it back to him any time he throws it for long range purposes and given the metal it’s based on, it’s been used to harm and kill herald level opponents such as Moonshade, who was stated to be all of the Moon Knights in the multiverse as one. Additionally, it once again comes equipped with a grappling hook and rope on top of being able to be extended into a Bo Staff for greater range in close quarters brawls and also not need to make contact to hit people.

Lastly, Moon Knight’s Adamantium Truncheon is designed with numerous special features such as being able to unleash an electrical charge, unleashing a small blinding light explosion, emitting an anti-metal pulse which can disable any technology, and emitting an Antarctic Vibranium Frequency which can destabilize any metal at the sub-atomic level, weakening the bonds of atoms and decrease any metal’s toughness, including ones as strong as Adamantium.

Ankhs

Initially while these can be used as blunt force weapons or projectiles, the more notable ones tend to contain more mystical properties. These ankhs are able to glow to detect nearby threats and potential dangers. Most importantly, some of these have shown the ability to absorb various energies from various powerful heroes leaving them weak and powerless. The ankhs have been able to absorb the magic from Dr. Strange, the Spirit of Vengeance from Robbie Reyes, and even Iron Fist’s Chi. This is important because Chi is effectively someone’s life force. To corroborate this idea, the next time we see these characters after having their powers drained, they’re put in a coma except for Robbie.

Crescent Dart Gun

Moon Knight has upgraded his most prominent equipment, as evidenced by an inference that the Tinkerer was hired to upgrade some of his gear and the Moonjet, and that included a way to deliver crescent darts faster, and use them in multi-purpose ways for more utility. Its standard ability is simply shooting crescent darts at opponents, but it also has a line attached to it meant for grappling and restraining that was able to hold the weight of the Slug while attached to the ceiling, who weighs 1068 lbs. It can also shoot a smaller crescent dart cable that restrains the neck of a large inmate. And finally, it can shoot out a parachute.

Grappling Hooks

Outside of Moon Knight’s grappling hook in his Truncheon, Moon Knight also has separate grappling hooks which he can use to swing around and climb up buildings.

Axe

Technically it’s a “grapple hook”, but look at it. It’s basically an ax, he even calls it one.

Tear Gas

Pretty self-explanatory. He has tear gas. It irritates the eyes and makes people cry. It seems to have a great range in effecting multiple targets, being able to blind a collection of people throughout singular floors of entire buildings.

Chainsaw

Chainsaw Man would be proud. Moon Knight got himself a chainsaw to rip and tear through anyone who gets in his way.

Cestus

Sometimes, Moon Knight isn’t afraid to add silver cestus to his knuckles for increased striking power. Perfect for dealing with werewolves.

Silver Capsule

Designed by Tony Stark researchers, Moon Knight possesses a Silver Capsule that, once used, exudes liquified gasses which drop the surrounding temperature “well below freezing”. Moon Knight once used this against Cyclone which instantly stiffened his legs and made him unable to draw a breath from his lungs.

Bolas

Moon Knight has multiple sets of bolas intended to wrap around his foes. The usage of the tool is to wrap around the foe and detain them, making them unable to move through the use of the weights. While he typically only uses a regular pair of them, Marc does have a longer set of bolas intended to rescue himself from deadly falls if he’s ever in need and doesn’t have access to his grappling hook.

Wolverine Gauntlets

During the Moon Knight 2011 run, Moon Knight has gotten his hands on equipment that is either reminiscent or direct copies of the weapons used by other heroes. One of these are gauntlets that give Moon Knight the claws of Wolverine. While it is unclear if these claw gauntlets are made out of adamantium like Wolverine’s claws, they are still sharp enough to cut through steel and even brutalize herald characters like Count Nefaria.

Throwing Irons

Not really much to say about Moon Knight’s Throwing Irons. They serve as another long ranged option which are sharp enough to pierce human skin.

Energy Shield

We can do this all day folks. Similarly to Moon Knight’s Wolverine Gauntlets, at some point in Moon Knight’s adventures, his buddy Buck gave Moon Knight an Energy Shield that Captain America used when he had lost his original shield. Made from Zero Point Energy, it has no weight and can be used not only for defense, but can also be thrown with maximum impact and disappear before anyone uses it, with the tradeoff being a 15 second recharge. With the Energy Shield, Moon Knight has blocked lasers for a herald level threat called Count Nefario and even draws blood from Nefario once thrown.

Ivory Boomerang

When he’s not in the mood to toss a simple dart, Moon Knight has an ivory boomerang at his disposal. Marc is capable of throwing it with a cutting toss and at an angle so it can return to him. He’s precise enough with it to tag someone even while he’s hanging from his bolas.

Web Shooters

Thanks to Moon Knight’s good friend Buck, Moon Knight has also gained access to Spider-Man’s Web Shooters. These Web Shooters are identical to Peter’s and upon hitting the button on Moon Knight’s wrist, he can thwip out webs with tensile strength so strong, they can allow Moon Knight to swing around like the Webhead himself and even restrain herald level characters like Count Nefario.

Scarab Darts

Another type of throwing weapon that was gifted to Marc upon taking on the role of Moon Knight.

Explosive Darts

Miniature explosives he can fire out of his hand, meant to blind or stun opponents. And he uses it on…the Sentry. Nice.

Smoke Bombs

Used for losing his opponents, Moon Knight has a couple of smoke bombs which can be used to trap his opponents in a cloud of smoke while Moon Knight evades his enemies and regains his bearings.

Wristbands

Sometimes wearing wristbands or wrist gauntlets, Moon Knight sports bracelets on his wrist that can act as another level of defense when blocking long-ranged attacks. Additionally, in the case of his wrist gauntlets, they come with a flashlight and a Crescent Dart shooter.

Knock-Out Spray

Huh, Minion, have I seen that before? As seen in the panel above, Moon Knight carries around some Knock-Out Spray which does as it says, knocks you out.

Walkie-Talkie

Moon Knight’s got a walkie, which lets him do the talkie. He tends to communicate with Frenchie through it. However, kinda useless in this fight.

Bow and Arrows

Unlike how the image makes it seem, these are not explosive arrows. He was aiming at a room filled with explosives instead. Nonetheless, it’s as average as your normal bow and arrow can get, but he does have pretty good aim with it, given how he was able to hit the correct spot and explode the room.

Firearms

Damn, talk about badass. Moon Knight ain’t afraid to pack some heat like in that panel above such as handguns and machine guns.

Explosives

Carrying some on hand, Moon Knight has explosives on hand which do what explosives do, explode. Perfect for following through on tricking master marksman like Bullseye, using his own accuracy and instinctive reaction against him.

Drones

Another addition to his tech, Moon Knight has a small drone he can control and see through a small interface on his right eye. It can scan the area around it and detect energy signatures from people nearby. He also has drones that can grapple/ensnare people on its own.

Binoculars

Like any vigilante, you have to be…well, VIGILANT. What better way to do that with binoculars. While most of Moon Knight’s binoculars are pretty standard, he does have a specific set that lets him see through walls.

Power Dampening Agent

Disguised as a fake tin Ultron head, once grabbed and crushed it releases a chemical agent that weakens someone’s power. Although it’s stated that it usually works on mutants, it did work on Nefaria, who isn’t one.

Hypersonic Stun Device

Moon Knight carries with him small earplugs that act as a hypersonic stunning device that blasts an opponent with an unknown amount of decibels, causing great pain to an opponent’s eardrums such as Joe Fixit Hulk.

Space Camera

A CAMERA USED IN SPACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As used in the panel above, once thrown high up enough, it can take pictures and see through the surface of a moon or planet.

Set’s Bracelet

Stolen from Set, a serpent beyond time. With it, Moon Knight can teleport to any astral plane he desires, even a place also said to be beyond time. He can also drag other people with him.

Swords

The Fist of Khonshu has used many swords in the past. This one was specifically confiscated from a man from Egypt, but Moon Knight has had other types of swords in his hands before, like Rapiers or Katanas.

Whipswords

Looks like someone was a student at Garreg Mach Monastery. Moon Knight has wielded two Whipswords in the past which, as their name suggest, double as both swords that can extend into whips for greater reach.

Plasma Torch

Moon Knight has once used a plasma torch from his wealthier days that can burn its way through chains. Not much else to say. Though fame is pretty overrated.

Cloak

The iconic cloak is more than just for show, it’s an integral part to Moon Knight’s arsenal. Marc is able to detach this bad boy, to use it as a defensive tool. Whether it be to bind foes via snagging them with it or letting it take projectiles for him.

It also serves as a vital tool in terms of mobility. This cloak can double as a “glider”. While it does allow Marc to glide down on opponents and insane speeds, it also breaks physics. Mainly for some odd reason, the glider more so gives pseudo flight if anything, as Marc can somehow “glide upwards” at a moment’s notice.

Vampire Stake

As in the name, Moon Knight possesses a vampire stake which, like in traditional monster movies, can kill a vampire after being thrust into the heart.

Blowgun

Whenever Moon Knight needs to incapacitate someone quickly, he possesses a blowgun that can fire tranquilizer darts to put someone to sleep.

Liquid Nitrogen

Marc carries on him multiple canisters of liquid nitrogen. For those that don’t know, liquid nitrogen can freeze to a temperature of -210 degrees celsius. These kinds of temperatures can cause almost instantaneous burns, blistering, and especially severe cases of frostbite that can commonly lead to afflicted body parts being amputated.

Vehicles

Throughout the years, Moon Knight hasn’t gone without his few mediums of transportation. From huge badass helicopters to drones to motorcycles, Moon Knight has a lot up his sleeve. And don’t worry, he can probably fund it, Steven is a millionaire after all.

Mooncopter: A huge helicopter privately built for Moon Knight. Usually, his friend Jean-Paul (no, not Azrael) is the one piloting it, but it also contains an autopilot mode. It goes at a top speed of 200 mph, a maximum take-off weight of 19.000 feet, and a range of 504 miles. It’s changed its appearance throughout the years, going over 4 and more versions, but it’s logical each should be an upgraded version of the past one, so it should have all its characteristics. Naturally, it comes with a ladder, a grappling hook, a giant net, twin 20mm rounds, twin 825 h.p. Turboshaft engines, high-efficiency 32 foot rotor blades, external alloy armor, retractable wheels, a microprocessor master computer that is constantly monitoring and interpreting data, radar and sonar capacities, an all-frequency radio transceiver, a retractable scanning infra-red laser, and much more! It’s also noiseless and completely immersible to water.

Angelwing: The one you see in the image. Also known as the Moonjet, a much more compact drone Moon Knight can control by just voicing his commands. It has been shown to save Moon Knight’s life in dire situations and it contains mounted machine guns, multiple crescent darts and missile swarms. It’s also bulletproof. And it has a remote control. Effectively, Marc can use the Angelwing to attack mid fight while he’s doing something else. It can also disarm foes with its magnetic lock from random weapons to entire vehicles. The drone has multiple modes, such as:

Mooncycle: A relatively new vehicle. It’s a simple motorcycle, and he can definitely speed up and do quite the tricks with it.

Moonmobile: A “one-of-a-kind” sports car that can be remote-controlled. He’s used it to fool enemies he’s escaping the fight.

Limousine: Usually used by Mr. Knight, it’s a normal Limo built by the same company that built a presidential secret service car. He’s, uh, used it to run through people.

Hoverbike: As the name suggests it, it’s a bike that allows Moon Knight to hover through the sky. It can also fire rockets.

Spacecraft: Uhuh. Moon Knight has a spaceship folks. It’s stated to detect life and radiation levels. But don’t worry, it gets destroyed a few panels after… is what I would say if it weren’t featured in Jeff Lemire’s run, where it returns as… a fictional scenario inside Marc’s mind. Yeah, nothing much to say there.

Armors and Suits

Over the years, Moon Knight had worn many different armors and suits, all varying in terms of toughness, versatility, and pure drip.

Mr. Knight: An outfit that Marc, Steven, or Jake typically wears to represent that persona of Mr. Knight. It doesn’t have any unique abilities but its drip factor is not to be undersold.

Bullseye Costume: An outfit Marc has worn that makes him look like Daredevil’s famous rival.

Spider-Man Costume: An outfit Moon Knight has worn which makes him look like our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

Kevlar Armor: This was Moon Knight’s first actual armor he wore. Made of Kevlar fabric, it’s completely insulated, bulletproof, and fireproof. It also contains a microphone and communication device under his cowl.

Carbonadium Armor: Eventually, Moon Knight upgraded his armor to one made out of Carbonadium. Carbonadium as an alloy is similar in toughness to adamantium and only second to vibranium, making it extremely tough and resilient. Additionally, should MK decide to, he can lock the joints of his Carbonadium armor to allow the weight of the suit to be better utilized. He once used this to hold up a falling building. However, locking up the joints means Marc would have to fight in his undies which he does fairly well.

Ghost Ripper Armor: In one instance, Moon Knight wore this armor when he and Spider-Man fought ghosts that Moon Knight described as being able to hurt Peter. When wearing the Ghost Ripper armor it allowed Moon Knight to actually hit the ghosts and easily overpower them. Given that ghosts are simply spirits/souls unbound by a physical form, this would be a very specific type of non-physical interaction reliant on soul manipulation.

Misc Weapons

Just some more random weapons… yeah he has a lot.

Azrael

Flaming Sword

Azrael’s iconic blade, made of a magnesium alloy, the blade is capable of igniting itself at Azrael's will thanks to a plastic incendiary in the sword's hilt. Which he has used to great effect, slashing through robots, trees, doors, pretty much anything that Azrael deems worthy of his vengeance.

Azrael Suit

Azrael’s main armor, and even at a glance you can tell he means business when he has it on. As for the functions, the fabric is bullet resistant, insulated and fireproof, highly resistant against acids and the armor is insulated from the cold. The suit also comes equipped with a pair of wrist blades that telescope into the sleeves to prevent them from being lost. And like any good sword of Azraels, they possess a Fire Module from the base of the blade, which allows Jean to set his blades on fire, blast streams of fire from a distance like a flamethrower, and even create explosions of flames enough to shatter rock. He can even shoot out the gauntlet’s blades for another form of ranged combat. The suit comes equipped with a grappling hook, communication gear, night vision, and an instant lockpick for good measure.

Angel’s Wrath

One of the few weapons that is worth having its own category, developed by an engineer named Harold (who funnily enough, Batman calls the world's greatest mechanical and technical genius, the more you know), these gauntlets fire out beams of energy at will as seen above. Fairly standard, but the more interesting part of these gauntlets is what they do upon contact. As described by Azrael himself, It uses a augmented magnetic field to fire out blasts of energy, and whose hit by the gauntlets will have their nervous system momentarily disrupted, knocking them out on contact, though it only specifically works on humans, as Azrael was unable to knock out a group of crocodiles with them due to having different nervous systems from humans.

Azbat Suit

The suit Azrael forged in Batman #500 order to continue his crusade against the evil of Gotham City, invoking the image of the Bat, while also being far, far more lethal than him, seeing as the suit can be described more realistically as a walking, talking arsenal with just how much firepower Jean-Paul has built into the suit. Azrael has donned the suit four separate times, and while details may differ slightly on the circumstances, they all reasonably are the same suit and should have the same capabilities.

The suit has night vision, infrared vision, and a mode for its visor that can block out bright lights. It can optically zoom his vision and enhances his senses as well. It’s also good for mobility, as the suits wings allow him to glide, and he has a grappling hook in the suits gauntlets, and this is just the utility the suit has.

As for the arsenal of the suit, it is absurd in raw quantity. For example, his gauntlets can fire batarangs at a full auto speed with enough power to shred a helicopter, and he carries 2000 of those at once. His gauntlets also carry flamethrowers, rocket launchers, knockout gas, heavy duty tranq darts, smoke grenades, regular grenades and obviously, the claws as you can see above. These claws in particular are strong enough that Batman says they’d cut through him like meat, and Azrael himself has used them to climb buildings fairly quickly.

The suit also comes equipped with cables that can support multiple tons, knock out gas grenades, phosphorus flares, knives and sonic weapons. The suit itself is capable of using the bat symbol on its chest as a ranged flashbang that can blind people temporarily, and as a panic button, can discharge all the energy of the suit into electricity, shocking anyone touching Azrael. The amount of weapons under the suit is so vast that Batman is certain he has an answer for everything in his utility belt. Yes, really.

Suit of Sorrows

While the Suit of Sorrows had seen many users pre-Flashpoint, following yet another Retcon event by DC sees Jean as the owner of the face of punishment. The suit itself consists of an Artificial Intelligence that interfaces with the wearer’s nervous system, telling them where to strike the ‘perfect blow’ in combat. Its function is compared to that of ‘two brains fighting for control in one body’ which ‘would drive a person insane’. This is all done via the suit interfacing with Azrael via the headpiece. The AI is even described by Batwing to be more powerful than anything he’s seen previously. The suit also provides Azrael heightened senses to further improve his combat abilities. After Azrael had finally been freed from the suit’s control, he now works it ‘in perfect symbiosis’ to achieve their objectives.

Following Ascalon’s defeat via facts and logic (yes), Azrael requested a new version of his Azrael suit be built to fit his history with the Order over using the Azbat and proceeds to use the Azbat again later anyhow.

Would you believe us if we said this wasn’t even the last AI implanted inside of Azrael?

Abilities

Moon Knight

Stamina & Endurance

Moon Knight’s endurance is frankly insane, corroborating this fact with the statement of Marc describing himself as being too borderline psychotic to feel pain. Additionally, he was compared to the resilience of a .45 hollow point bullet by Taskmaster, as “it comes out the other end turned inside out. Mushroomed, torn up, twisted from all the soft tissue trauma it’s caused”. Moon Knight will “come at you faster than the speed of sound, go right through you and won’t care what it’ll do to him.” He has consistently shrugged off things like explosions, crossbow shots as shown in the panel above, stabbings, bites, etc. Marc has also claimed that he could go hours patrolling and stopping crime as Moon Knight for hours without any sleep or food. Lastly, he was once capable of enduring 5 hours of what was considered a psychotropic nightmare created by Morpheus.

Then, in terms of stamina, Moon Knight is no slouch in that regard as well. He lasted 4 days straight in the House of Shadows with no food or sleep and in one instance, stood in a locked room for roughly two weeks with a rabid dolphin without any food before eventually giving in and killing the dolphin to eat its meat. Don’t worry, he didn’t eat the meat and give himself rabies.

Fear

You know that thing Batman does where he just freaks everyone around him out? Imagine that but if he actively enjoyed it. Even the littlest of his actions can scare people to the point of fainting. He even constantly visits his villains to casually spook them. Partially because instilling fear into them causes them to perform less crimes and all, but also because again, he finds it fun. His ability to horrify is so effective that it can even render Taskmaster catatonic. Some criminals even attempt to end themselves rather than face Moon Knight.

Resurrection

Probably one if not his most iconic abilities, as a fist of Khonshu, Marc can continuously be resurrected by Khonshu to keep on fighting. While it is not crazy, to the point Marc can come back from nothingness, he’s been able to come back from plenty of fatal blows, potentially even attacks on his head. And it’s shown to be relatively quick, if not instant!

Lunar Energy

Khonshu, and by extension Moon Knight, draw their power from the moon itself. This means that the further a moon phase shifts, the stronger Moon Knight becomes. The idea of “Lunar Energy” amping Moon Knight’s capabilities into superhuman territory was consistently stated in older runs, and is still referenced nowadays, in more modern runs.

Teleportation

He just teleported……there's nothing else to say. No, literally, no context, nothing that alludes to anything else, he just teleports for no absolute reason in this panel and never does it again for the entirety of his comic runs.

Intangibility

After Khonshu gave Marc a “piece of the moon that is and shall ever be”, Moon Knight got an amp in power. Part of this amp came with the ability to become intangible. Khonshu left Marc with the amp intentionally, so he should perfectly have access to this ability.

Power of Crazy

In a fight against the Sun King (Ra’s avatar in our world) where Marc, having lost his faith in Khonshu temporarily, got his shit absolutely kicked in, his other personalities aided him so that he could rise up. After motivation came thanks to the memory of his daughter Diatrice, Steven theorized how if the Sun King had fire powers thanks to his belief in Ra, Marc could have powers of his own, such as a superhuman status and an indomitable will. After this, Marc entered a sort-of berserk mode where he turned the tides of the fight in mere seconds and gave the Sun King a scare good enough to temporarily disable his fire powers and his belief in Ra.

Portal Creation

Via praying, Marc can open up a portal. This portal is where the undead remains of previous Moon Knights, who are aggressive to anyone they witness. This even includes Marc. Marc uses this portal to travel across the country in moments and even lures the undead Moon Knights to Zodiac, prompting them to attack him.

Resistances

Mind Manipulation: While Marc has shown to be affected by hypnosis on several occasions, he also has several showings of being somewhat resistant to it. Even if one tries to invade his mind, they would have to deal with Khonshu, which…good luck with that, as Khonshu can protect Moon Knight against Daredevil (possessed by the Beast) trying to mess with his head. Additionally, Moon Knight can switch or redirect personalities in order to escape the clutches of mind control, and his will is strong enough to make Doctor Strange’s mind hax completely ineffective against him.

Fire Manipulation: Marc’s suit is shown to be fire-resistant, capable of withstanding being engulfed in flames without much issue. Without any armor, Marc has endured the Sun King’s flames, albeit with some difficulty

Electricity Manipulation: Marc’s suit is also insulated.

Limited Disease Manipulation: Moon Knight was able to counter being infected by a fungal virus known as the Urchin, which was infecting many powerful heroes at the time. While his body was infected, his consciousness was still intact, preventing the Urchin from fully controlling him

Pain Endurance: Moon Knight claims he’s far too borderline psychotic to feel pain.

Azrael

Stamina and Endurance

To say Azrael is built different would be an insult to just how much he can go through without giving in. He’s fought Bane with cracked ribs, defeated a group of thugs after having been poked, prodded, beaten, drugged hard enough to have constant black outs and not having eaten for days. He even swims through a storm while still drugged bad enough to be having constant black outs, and right after having been beaten unconscious by two metahumans and left to drown at the bottom of a lake, he manages to flip a car, swim up to the surface, climb a whole cliff and get right back into the fight. He’s also walked five miles in the middle of a snowy winter to save someone after having been hit by a car hard enough to knock him out and being buried in snow for hours. He’s dragged the Angel Satan around after being JoJo Stand Rushed and having the Angel Satan’s Wheel slammed on his face enough times to beat him bloody

But it isn’t just his endurance that is absurd, but his stamina. He can swim for five minutes straight and go for three to four days without sleeping, twice even. He’s beaten Bane after having to go through all of THIS, and he’s flat out still beaten Batman flat on his ass while he himself said he was exhausted.

Minor Healing Factor

Due to Azrael's tampered biology, he has an abnormally large amount of white blood cells, and thus he tends to heal far faster than a normal man does. He’s been confident he’ll heal naturally from burns and bullets, and even when given significant injuries he’s confident he won't need medical aid to walk it off.

Wrath of God

While it’s unknown how he gained this ability, Jean Paul, upon contact with an enemy, can make them see visions in their mind and leave them in awe, described as “Know the Unknowable I. Gaze and Know Awe.” It’s potent enough to make Bane rethink his life choices and leave Robin utterly defeated.

The System

Created by a Motherbox, the System is a mental programming put into all those who would be made Azraels by the Order of St. Dumas, and was dormant within Jean-Paul until hypnosis brought it to the surface.

Now, don’t mistake this for some form of true form despite what the image above may provoke (as that is specifically when Azrael went into his own mind to speak to the System directly), the System is mental programming above all else,

As for what the System does, there’s a lot to go over, it can block his pain, warn him of incoming events, gives him a photographic memory, induce pain within Azrael, and identify if people are speaking the truth

One of the more prominent parts of the System however is its information analysis and how it adapts to the situation at hand in combat. It can calculate the trajectories of projectiles, allow Azrael to move through pure instinct, automatically make him dodge attacks, adapt Azrael's strategy on the fly, take control of his body to save him from more dangerous moments and make on the spot plans in precarious situations.

Of course, the big part of the System as stated in Sword of Azrael 2022, is that it contains all the memories of all the past Azraels, with Azrael himself being used as a “Black Box'' to store all this information. The System itself has even confirmed it’s the same Azrael that has been around for centuries, which based on multiple statements from the Michael Lane Azrael run, is absurdly old, as the Order of Purity, a splinter group of the Order of St. Dumas, created the Suit of Sorrows in 1190. This is consistent in that the Suit of Sorrows (which was made to be a counterpart to the Order of St. Dumas’s Azrael) has material within it that originates from somewhere between AD 1000-1200, and the Order of St. Dumas as of Rebirth is a splinter group from the Templars, which was created in 1119. This gives a 71 year range for when the System was created, meaning that the System gives Azrael the experience, skill and memories of anywhere from 833 to 904 years of Azraels.

Resistances

Fire: Azrael has several statements saying his suit is fire resistant, like seriously.

Electricity: Gloves are insulated to protect Azrael from electrocution, recovered from being struck by lightning, survives an electrical attack from Batman, Azbat being insulated makes him also resist electricity, took an electrical burst from Ascalon.

Acid: Completely fine after being dumped into and escaping from a vat of acid, even with his mask taken off. Though it is noted that he has approximately a minute ‘before the acid penetrates his costume’. The Azbat was also able to withstand some form of acid being tossed onto it.

Drugs: Due to alterations of his body chemistry prior to birth, drugs work slower on Jean.

Poison: Was able to walk off being poisoned despite that said poison being enough to ‘kill a regiment’.

Fear Manipulation: After a short time, resists the effects of Scarecrow’s fear toxin and then defeats him.

Energy Draining: Can stand near and contend with Calibax, who can drain people and empower himself via his presence alone. He even directly states this doesn’t work on Azrael.

Support

Moon Knight

Khonshu

How could we talk about this Fist of Khonshu without -well… KHONSHU! While this Lunar God can frankly be a dick, he isn’t useless, far from it. Khonshu is OLD. He resides in cosmic “no-time” and exists “among all ages” and considering he has had Moon Knight’s for at least one million years it’s reasonable to say he’s very clearly at least that old. With old age comes wisdom afterall and that wisdom that is especially valuable considering Khonshu can clue Marc in stuff he doesn’t know to help in his escapades. Khonshu has been able to sense changes in reality and even break the fourth wall. Khonshu has been able to detect incoming threats from the future and lead Marc where he needs to be in his travels.

How does he do this of course? Well that’s because Khonshu resides in Marc’s mind, telepathically” communicating what intel he needs to relay. This is especially useful if anyone tries to take his toy away from him, kicking anything that tries to get in Marc’s head. Khonshu can even pull a switcheroo and possess other bodies too, but only if they are near death. Naturally because of where he resides, if Marc is ever knocked out. Khonshu can take control of his body to fight in his place. Notably Khonshu can stay in control for months on end, even stating that he can rule out “autonomic responses” while in Marc’s body. One time when Khonshu was in control he even managed to beat Juggernaut. (You can see why we aren’t letting him fight)

Khonshu can also take the form of a spirit. In this form, he can become intangible and invisible. The lunar god can manipulate the moon of course but can also manipulate fire, wind, sand, even the ground itself. He can shoot energy beams and even mess with other’s heads. Whether it be making himself visible to foes creeping them the hell out or flat out making full on illusions of different battles. And don’t try to attack this spirit because you would be in for some major karma.

As the God of Healing in Egyptian Mythology, not only can Khonshu heal Marc’s injuries but resurrect him entirely. It is stated that Khonshu will always resurrect his knights as well and the process tends to happen in a relatively quick time frame, basically once Khonshu allows him to come back. Even Set another Egyptian God, can resurrect someone in an instant. Marc is no stranger to this as he has died plenty of times whether it be from drowning, being shot, or caught in an explosion. With Marc’s fight against Taskmaster, he was even confident that he would come back being stabbed right through his head. If that isn’t enough help, Khonshu is also responsible for Marc’s superhuman abilities and has even amped him from time to time. Such as when he gave Marc a sliver of his power to defeat Wyrm, a being who threatened all of existence and resides in every reality/all of time. Khonshu can even teleport Marc away from danger as well. That’s neat!

Khonshu is an abstract being who represents the concept of all moons in the multiverse. He is beyond space and time, appearing anywhere and any when he pleases. He can wipe out other beings on his caliber permanently. He has fought and killed Mephistopheles and Seth. Battle against Odin, Bast, and the Phoenix. But most importantly of all… he can appear in a toilet.

Mummies

During the 2018 run of Avengers, Moon Knight is gifted with the ability to summon an army of mummies to aid and overwhelm his enemies in battle. With the help of his mummy army, Moon Knight has used them to battle the forces of Captain America, Blade, Spider-Man, She-Hulk, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel. Additionally, as seen in the panel above, the mummies were used against Dr. Strange, and were capable of briefly overwhelming even the likes of him.

Werewolves

Similarly, Moon Knight in the 2018 run of Avengers should also be capable of summoning werewolves alongside his mummy army. The number of werewolves is not as defined as how many mummies Moon Knight can summon but hey, the more the merrier am I right?

Azrael

Batman AI

Following an attempt by Ascalon to override Jean, Batwing implemented an Artificial Intelligence he describes as being ‘based on Batman’s best attributes’, effectively, quoting Azrael himself, to be ‘modeling off the world’s most dangerous vigilante’ that would let Azrael utilize these attributes himself. He also describes it as calling out to save the city, civilians, but also having a provoking feeling in needing to take action.

Scaling

Moon Knight

Daredevil

Moon Knight without any power increases from the moon is considered among the upper end of street tier characters and has fought Daredevil in the past. As such, scaling Moon Knight to Daredevil is fairly logical.

Captain America

Similarly to Daredevil, Moon Knight without the moon is contendable with other street tier characters. As such, we can reasonably scale Moon Knight to Captain America.

Deadpool

The Fist of Khonshu and the Merc with a Mouth have crossed paths in the past and while under the light of a full moon, Moon Knight easily demolished Deadpool. As such, we could scale and even massively upscale Deadpool’s feats.

Wolverine

Moon Knight has crossed paths with other X-Men in the past like Gambit, Beast, and even Wolverine’s son Daken; thus, scaling Moon Knight to Logan is quite justifiable.

Werewolf By Night

Given that Moon Knight’s first appearance was in Werewolf By Night where he was able to trade blows with and defeat Jack Russel, and the two have multiple appearances either fighting each other or working together, it’s fairly reasonable to say Moon Knight can scale to Werewolf By Night.

Spider-Man (Debatable)

Oh fuck me-

While this level of scaling is debatable (as will be discussed in the verdicts for both characters), Moon Knight has had plenty of crossovers with the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man over the years. Additionally, in relatively newer issues, Moon Knight has had a couple of tussles with the Spider-Man villain Vermin, who is considered and proven to be on par with Spider-Man’s unrestrained power, to the point where he would be capable of killing Peter. With that in mind, it is arguable to say that Moon Knight at his most natural peak of a full moon should be comparable to Spider-Man’s more impressive feats.

At absolute worst though, Moon Knight’s armor is made out of Carbonadium, which explicitly took extreme effort from Peter Parker to break. This would mean Marc’s armor can withstand several hits from Spidey going all out, and should be able to potentially scale to that level.

Azrael

Batman

Everyone's favorite Dark Knight, and someone who is outright stated to be weaker then Azrael, from Azrael being confident that Batman couldn’t hurt him in his prime, to Batman saying the Azbats claws could cut through him like meat, to the fight where when Azrael was exhausted, he no sold two of Batmans best punches and threw him around like, in Bruce’s own words, ‘a stuffed toy’, it’s clear the Angel of Death is the Dark Knight’s superior.

Bat Family

The Batfamily are frequently shown to be comparable to Azrael, if not downright weaker than him, from things like Cassandra Cain being blatantly outreacted by the Angel of Death, to Azrael defeating Red Robin and Nightwing in a hit each,to knocking out Nightwing with a microwave(lmao) to Nightwing outright saying that Azrael is stronger and faster than any of them, it’s well established that Azrael is one of, if not the strongest members of the Batfamily.

Deathstroke

The Terminator himself, and while his encounters with Azrael are sparse, his most prominent fight to show how he fairs against Azrael was them going dead even in a swordfight, with neither side taking a distinct edge within it before Deathstroke was incapacitated by a third party, so the scaling chain from Azrael to Deathstroke is pretty clear to see.

Bane

The Man who Broke the Bat and the brute with the brains to match. Azrael has fought Bane a total of five times to varying success, with a record of 3-2 in Azrael's favor, though the third one had Azrael weakened from prior fights and the fifth one had Bane caught off guard by an earthquake, that doesn’t change the fact that the duo have fought on par multiple times.

What's even more interesting is Azrael's battle against Bird. While Bird is likely not someone the reader of this has even heard of, what's important is that Azrael fought on par and even beat Bird while the latter was on Venom. Venom that is explicitly improved according to Bane. According to Azrael (who at this point chronologically had only fought Bane twice, and both of which were on venom, meaning that is his only reference point) was as strong as Bane, giving a clear chain of scaling for the Angel of Death to the Batbreaker.

Mr. Freeze

The Coolest Dude, and a regular inmate of Arkham Asylum, and between Batman defeating Mr. Freeze multiple times, and Azrael outright being stated to be capable of defeating all of Arkahms inmates on his own while Freeze was a documented member of Arkham at the time, it isn’t a huge stretch to say Azrael is on the same level, if not above Mr. Freeze.

Misc. Rogues Gallery

From being stated to be able to solo Arkham Asylum, to knocking out Two-Face in a few hits to knocking Bane into a coma, to punching a hole through Ascalon. who blasted Clayface hard enough to splatter him, it’s clear that Azrael should be comparable at worst, or outright superior to all of the various foes that plague the Batfamily.

Michael Lane/Azrael (Debatable)

Oh double fuck me-

For the sake of separating which one we are referring to, we will be referring to Michael by his name and Jean Paul as Azrael

The other relevant Azrael, and the one you might know from the Arkham Games, while he and Azrael have never directly interacted, there is nothing indicating that Michael Lane is that far beyond Azrael. As he has been matched by Nightwing (who was Batman for most of his run as well), and White Ghost (who Nightwing has easily dispatched), the former of whom have been shown to be blatantly below Azrael in raw strength. But this isn’t the only way you can go about it, as Michael Lane’s power comes from the Suit of Sorrows (a different one, as the one Azrael has is explicitly different and only exists Post-Flashpoint), which is noted to increase the wearer’s strength and speed, and there’s nothing indicating that the suit’s power has increased since it was created.

Why is that detail relevant? Because the second wearer of the Suit of Sorrows has been shown in the past to be matched and defeated by… a previous Azrael! And it helps that the modern Azrael's own tech is considered improved from previous Azrael’s, so unless you are to baselessly assume that an Azrael from what's likely hundreds of years ago is drastically, drastically stronger then the modern day Azrael, there is a clear link between the Azrael we are focusing on and the bearer of the Suit of Sorrows in terms of power.

Weaknesses

Moon Knight

While the Fist of Khonshu is a resilient one, he isn’t an unstoppable force of nature either. Despite all the crazy shit he can pull out of his pocket and his superhuman physique gifted from the moon, Marc still has limits and is susceptible to elements that can take down any other human such as prolonged exposure to gasses. Similarly, while Marc has resisted mental attacks in the past, sufficiently powerful ones could get past his defenses as shown in a few other examples. Lastly, while Khonshu is capable of bringing Marc back from the dead, it’s unknown how far Khonshu can bring Marc back from the dead in terms of what killing blow is dealt to Marc such as decapitation or complete disintegration.

Azrael

Everyone has limits, and the Angel of Mercy is no different. While his former weaknesses of needing the suit to access his powers and the system are long gone, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have limits. For example, while his healing factor means even severe injuries don’t need medical attention to heal themselves, it isn’t fast enough to heal off injuries Azrael would withstand mid-fight. Similarly, while Azrael's pain tolerance is absurd and the System is capable of dulling and turning off his pain, that doesn’t stop the damage from stacking up and slowly overwhelming him, as while he is superhuman, the word human is still in the name. He can bleed out, have his organs ruptured, or be choked out all the same. He may not have any explicit weaknesses, but that doesn’t mean he’s invincible.

Before the Verdicts

Herald Moon Knight

With decades of random bullshit, you bet that Marc has gotten some serious boosts throughout his time as the Moon Knight. However, none of these instances should be used in this scenario. During Age of Khonshu, Marc got access to a few insane abilities and weapons. He managed to have the magic abilities of Doctor Strange and even Robbie Reyes’ Spirit of Vengeance. These abilities however should not be standard as by the end of the run they were given back.

Similarly, Marc also acquired Mjolnir and was able to use it via his connection to the moon and it technically being “moon rock”. For one, giving Marc Mjolnir would require Thor to be around, he can’t just summon it on a whim. Secondly, throughout this fight Marc was on the moon itself during a rare event called the “Supermoon”. This means that his powers would have been much higher than what any Full Moon can offer.

What about the Phoenix? Near the end of Age of Khonshu, Marc calls forth the Phoenix Force becoming its new host. How does he do it? Well he just prays and it comes. While obtaining it was simple, Marc can’t do this from now on. During this time, the Phoenix Force was searching for hosts and furthermore didn’t see Marc as a good fit. Meaning it’s unlikely it would come back to Marc again.

Marc has also been “herald” through other means but there is major context behind these instances. Firstly, Marc defeated a robot foe who was stronger than Wonder Man and Iron Man at the point in which they were fighting. Secondly, Marc defeated Wyrm, a multiversal threat, via Khonshu giving him some of his power.

For the first instance, Marc managed to pull this off via the fight taking place within a dimension full of moon. Thus in a neutral territory like this, Marc doesn’t have said luxury. For the second, while hypothetically Khonshu can amp Marc to “herald levels” at any time he only did this against a multiversal being. In the case where he fights normal people, Khonshu would never and has never done this. Furthermore while technically it was made a point that this amp stayed after all the events were said and done. Marc hasn’t displayed that level of power himself after that. Really is a “status quo” moment huh?

Fight Script

That’s right! Last blog didn’t have any, but we’re bringing them back with this one. For those of you who don’t remember how this goes, we experiment a bit by doing a fight script written to match the style of that of DB’s own fights, as a way to show our research in a more fun way. This time, the user Andrex wanted to cook up something special, with some ideas brought by users Ninjamonkey3904 and Lofty. Huge thanks to all of them, and we hope you enjoy it!

Moon Knight

Stats

Anyone who has been present for almost two years now would know how stats are seen and discussed between Marvel and DC street-tiers. For this discussion particularly, there’s a lot to break down. In terms of Moon Knight, his best direct scaling comes through scaling to Deadpool whose feat of getting launched out of Krakoa reaches about 31 kilotons of TNT. Wolverine—who is comparable to Deadpool—was also debatably able to tank a nuclear explosion that reached about 21 kilotons of TNT. This feat is questionable as not only was Wolverine knocked out, but it’s possible that regenerated afterwards. Marvel has other kiloton level feats, with one example being the Winter Guard surviving being launched into orbit by the Zero Cannon weapon.

However, when looking at the stats Azrael scales to, he should be stronger than Moon Knight based on that. Given the statement of Azrael being able to solo all of Arkham when Mr. Freeze was a patient there, Azrael would scale to the Mr. Freeze calcs which get about 1.8 and 5.8 kilotons approximately due to his ice gun. Next, we have characters like Batman surviving Quakemaster’s gun which can get about 27 kilotons of TNT as well as Deathstroke’s submarine explosion getting 1.3 kilotons. Lastly, Adam Strange, even during his earlier days has a feat where he survived forces approximating about 63 kilotons of TNT into his body. He has another feat where he survives the expansion of the Earth which gets about 77 kilotons, but given that Strange has improved his armor and tech since then, it might be a stretch to apply this to Azrael specifically.  There are also a lot of good calcs that DC street-tiers have recently been presented with.

On top of all of that, it’s commonly agreed upon that Azrael is definitely stronger than Moon Knight and there’s quite a few reasons to believe this! He has plenty of upscaling off of many DC street-tiers including Batman, Nightwing, and the entirety of the Batfamily. He has statements of soloing all the inmates of Arkham Asylum and he upscales from some of Ra’s best assassins. Finally, Azrael could also scale to venom-powered characters such as Bane and Bird who would be higher than characters like Batman. With this view Azrael would be decently stronger, 2.4 times stronger to be exact. With his notable upscaling the gap could get bigger.

At the same time, while Azrael does have upscaling routes to potentially place him higher than the stats presented for him, some of them can be a little debatable. While Azrael fought the Dark Knight, took two of Batman’s best punches, simply shrugged them off, and was explicitly exhausted due to fighting some ghosts, he wasn’t physically weakened at the same time. He wasn’t performing at full capacity but there’s nothing to indicate he was directly weakened so it’s unknown how much better he is than Batman at his best. Not to mention, the phrasing of “best punches” is also subjective to the context of the scenario as well. Batman during that fight was already on the back foot so him saying he threw out “two of his best punches” could only relate to the situation he was placed at in the fight and not indicative of Batman throwing two punches that had his full force behind it.

Additionally, on the topic of scaling Azrael to Venom-powered characters like Bane, while we do know that venom is a strength increase, that’s all we can say as there’s no actual metric to compare how much stronger one gets while under Venom. There is a statement that says venom increases strength “tenfold” but tenfold in most cases is a very figurative word that doesn’t always equate to there being a literal 10 times increase. Furthermore, it’s worth mentioning that Bane usually shoots himself up with numerous doses of Venom per fight which, at a certain point, starts to make the 10 times multiplier feel shaky, because Bane through extensive uses of Venom would become thousands of times stronger, which is obviously not the case.

Lastly, we also can’t definitively say that venom would offer a speed increase, as it specifically is only ever referred to as a strength increase. The one time we see Bane get faster on venom was from an instance where he speedblitzed Azrael. Yes, this is an instance that provides support for venom increasing speed, but one that works against Azrael’s favor. Still, we do know that Azrael was considered faster and stronger than Batman as well as Azrael and Bane having a fairly even record against each other so Azrael would still have that upscaling. That can’t be denied.

However, Moon Knight would also have similar means of upscaling thanks to the phases of the moon. As described at the beginning of the blog, we’re examining Moon Knight at his natural best, which would be a full moon. This is worth establishing since Moon Knight at his weakest is still capable of contending with other high end street tier characters like Daredevil, Gambit, Beast, and Deadpool. When factoring in the phases of the moon, Moon Knight would become notably stronger than the street tier stats we have established for Marvel. With that said, it needs to be made clear that the upscaling he gets isn’t as blatant as the upscaling that Azrael gets. Considering that the DC street tier feats Azrael can scale to are already two times more than what Moon Knight scales to on top of Azrael’s upscaling, Moon Knight would still be behind even if it’s not by too much.

Although, we would also be remiss if we didn’t discuss direct evidence to suggest both franchises’ street-tiers would be on comparable levels due to multiple canonical crossovers between Marvel and DC, with the most clear cut crossover being JLA/Avengers. There is a ludicrous amount of evidence to suggest that JLA/Avengers is canon and during the crossover, you have characters like Batman and Captain America not only sparring, but being able to take out the threats from the other universe. Batman took out Batroc and Captain America took out Prometheus suggesting that both are approximately around the same level with any differences being minor. In regard to this, we can say through this that Batman is around Captain America’s level.

Moon Knight could be argued a tad bit inferior in stats due to not having a super soldier serum because well… he doesn’t have a super soldier serum lol. This would mean that Azrael would solidly be above Moon Knight. He has statements of being superhuman and at worst, could be seen as comparable to Captain America but could potentially be argued higher via his showings. That being said, when we factor in that Marc gets stronger with different phases of the moon, especially during a full moon present, this, to a certain degree, would counteract the upscaling that Azrael gets. But it needs to be made clear that the upscaling he gets isn’t as blatant as the upscaling that Azrael gets. So to a certain degree, he would still be behind.

Hilariously enough, Azrael himself shows up in a crossover with Punisher while a weakened Punisher is able to take on Jean-Paul Valley. Now this is one of the more dubious crossovers as we can’t safely say that it is canon to both franchises. The Marvel wiki says that the comic took place on Earth 7642 which is a “crossover Earth” but the DC wiki links the Azrael in the comic as the canonical New Earth/Prime Earth character. And given Infinite Frontier canonizing everything within the main timeline(s), this would ultimately be equivalent to the same Azrael if we roll with the interpretation of the wikis. However, there would be a few questions including how DC’s Azrael made it into Marvel’s multiverse or if the wikis are both truly accurate. Either way, there are a few holes in this argument. It’s possible that we could be overthinking and this comic is either fully canon or fully non-canon, but the evidence isn’t too solid either way.

However, in the worst case that Azrael takes a slight AP advantage, this isn’t a major disadvantage towards Moon Knight. Over the years, Moon Knight has been in numerous situations where he’s put up against opponents who are physically superior to him such as Joe Fixit Hulk and the Wendigos. In those scenarios, Moon Knight has utilized his massive arsenal (which we’ll get into later) and his cunning to work around stronger opponents despite being physically outmatched.

When looking at the durability these two would have with their armors, Moon Knight would take a very decisive edge here. As described above, Moon Knight’s best armor is one made out of carbonadium, one of the toughest metals in Marvel. To put into perspective how tough carbonadium is, Spider-Man when trapped by something while in carbonadium, it took extreme effort for Peter to break out. One look at how strong Peter at his best (ranging from about 24 megatons of TNT to 22 Teratons of TNT) paints a very clear difference in terms of how much stronger both he and carbonadium is in comparison to any of the DC street-tier feats mentioned at this point.

While the carbonadium armor may not cover his head, the fact Moon Knight has an armor that resilient across the rest of his body means that Azrael dealing with Moon Knight would become a difficult challenge because Azrael’s physical strength would not be capable of getting through the carbonadium armor and he’d have to rely on up-close attacks to the head in order to take down Marc. Additionally, this would in turn also make Moon Knight’s strikes hit harder against Azrael because he’d be hitting with the force of the carbonadium armor itself, helping to close out the AP difference between the two.

Now with all of that said, there’s two avenues of scaling we can go for each that would place them notably higher than what we have described now. Those avenues are scaling Azrael, aka Jean-Paul Valley to Michael Lane and Moon Knight scaling to Spider-Man. As such, we will break down each character’s higher tier scaling to describe our opinions about whether the scaling is consistent and how high they would net if used.

Michael Lane is an interesting character that you could try scaling Azrael to. An older wearer of the Suit of Sorrows fought an older version of Dumas’ Azrael. Given that both Michael and Jean would be stronger than their older versions, you might say it’s fair to say they’re on relative terms given equal leeway. But here’s the thing… Michael Lane really isn’t all that. He does NOT scale to either Fireball or Crusader.

Crusader’s powers were stated to be more than Michael Lane could deal with, to the point that Crusader could have killed him but chose to spare his life. In their final confrontation, when Crusader went all out, Michael was one-shotted. Yes, he wasn’t dead but he was immediately knocked unconscious and woke up very drowsy. Now yes, it was said that Michael was always destined to lose, but that doesn’t really take away from the chance that the reason he lost was because he was less powerful.

And as for scaling to Fireball, it’s probably even weaker evidence than Crusader. Michael Lane fought Fireball to a standstill to the point that Fireball said neither could kill the other and their fight would likely end in a stalemate.  The problem though is that the amount of power Fireball was channeling here wasn’t the same amount of power as when he threatened to nuke Gotham City. See, Fireball has incredible energy absorption capabilities, to the point where one of Ra’s Al Ghul’s scientists said Fireball was one of the greatest metahumans that he’s seen period. To add onto this, we know that Fireball spent quite a bit of time (about a week) absorbing all the energy required to blow up Gotham and when he did, he was in a near-death like state to the point he could barely function. This isn’t the same Fireball we saw fight Michael.

When Fireball did blow up, Crusader said that he wasn’t sure if he could contain the blast (about 7.81 megatons of TNT) and that if he couldn’t, everyone there would die, including himself, Batman, and Azrael which obviously contradicts the scaling. Crusader did end up containing the blast but it took all of his power to do so. There’s too many holes in scaling Michael Lane to either Fireball or Crusader to say that he does. It’s more consistent for Michael to go up against your average street-tier as shown by the times he fought Nightwing and White Ghost. Notably if one were to buy the Fireball feat, there’s no logical way it should scale to Jean.

Jean and Micheal have never physically interacted so that alone makes things iffy. The main scaling chain one would bring up was the time Dick Grayson fought Michael, with both seeming around the same level. That might seem fine at face value with Azrael naturally upscaling Dick, but there’s one glaring issue. In order for that scaling chain to work, you would need to say Dick Grayson himself scales to the fireball along with every other street tier. The Fireball is about 7 megatons, with the highest feat Dick can scale to aside from that being 77 kilotons. That is a 90 times gap between the two feats, and thus would have you needing to buy an outlier for Jean scaling to it.

Especially when Micheal, other than having one vague statement, is shown to be relative to other street tiers. Well surely there’s more. One more to be exact, far ago an Azrael of the Order of Purity fought an Azrael of St. Dumas. With both having the same suit (for Michael’s case) and powers (for Jean’s case) they were shown to be around the same level. The main issue with this instance is not only is it justifying scaling between two characters with two entirely different characters, but we don’t have too much of an idea for how said events transpired. We aren’t given much other than knowing these two past Azrael’s fought each other.

However, if we really want to push Michael Lane to city level, we can easily do the same with regular street-tiers in Marvel. Falcon and Captain America both have feats getting up to city level, albeit, both are just as questionable as Michael Lane’s feats. Falcon was able to tank a part of an explosion capable of completely destroying New York City which gets a little over 508 megatons of TNT! Now, yes, Falcon’s vibranium wings did absorb most of the blast and in doing so, sort of fell apart. However, you can argue since the feathers didn’t break, the vibranium itself wasn’t totally damaged and it was the parts of the wings holding the vibranium wings together that broke apart. Not to mention that the wings didn’t absorb all of the blast. The same statement that says that the wings absorbed the blast also implies Sam was hit with a part of the blast.

This makes sense, Sam was holding the bomb directly to his chest. Even if Sam only took 1% of the blast, he would be tanking about 5.08 megatons of TNT. If it was 10%, it would be 50.8 megatons. Steve Rogers has a feat where he survives a relativistic spaceship crash which gets anywhere between 3.68 to 368 megatons of TNT… around the same range but this very same feat is contentious too. If we bought one of these feats, we’d have to argue for the other due to equal leeway. All of these feats are contentious and it would be unfair to buy one but not the other. Regardless, it’s more than likely that all of these feats are outliers since they’re massively above any other feats regular street-tiers have done. Even if we did buy them, crossover scaling would put normal street-tiers at similar levels anyways.

The main example we can use for scaling Moon Knight to Spider-Man is through his fights against Vermin. For those unaware, Vermin is a Spider-Man villain that is comparable to Peter when he isn’t holding back. Vermin has been shown capable of fighting against other Spider-Man level characters like Kraven and a bloodlusted Spider-Man with Vermin taking several brutal attacks from Peter and being just fine. Multiple Vermin clones were also shown to beat Spider-Man down to a point of near death. As such, we can definitely say that Vermin has enough credence to be considered comparable to Spider-Man’s unrestrained power, if not slightly downscaling it. On the topic of how Moon Knight scales to Vermin, there are two main instances where Moon Knight fought Vermin.

The first was in a situation similar to Peter where Moon Knight took on multiple clones of Vermin and didn’t struggle to handle them like Peter did. Granted, while Moon Knight didn’t take on as many clones as Peter did in the latter instance, he still took on multiple Vermin clones and did decently well, overpowering one and throwing it out the window while he broke the teeth of another clone with a kick. Now, you might see someone argue that he could only hurt Vermin because of his armor being plated with carbonadium which, like we said above, would make it far tougher.

But that wouldn’t matter! His armor would still give him enhanced strength/durability and that enhanced strength/durability would be incredibly useful against Azrael! Who cares if it’s Marc’s base strength or the strength he gets from carbonadium? The level of strength shown against Vermin would still send Jean reeling and could easily turn the tides in Marc’s favor. And when we factor in this argument of the carbonadium armor enhancing Marc’s strength, it would make the statement of Moon Knight considering Luke Cage a heavy hitter and the showing of Spider-Man stopping Marc’s fight with Punisher irrelevant. Luke Cage can still be more of a powerhouse compared to Marc and so can Spidey but it wouldn’t take away from the sheer toughness of Marc’s armor.

The second instance comes from when Jake Lockley in the Mr. Knight outfit fought Vermin in the sewer by himself. In that situation, Vermin had tried to pin down Jake but Jake was able to overpower Vermin and throw him off. Then, after throwing a few crescent darts at Vermin, Mr. Knight pinned Vermin to the floor and started to choke Vermin out while also brutally punching Vermin and feeding him something to incapacitate him. While Mr. Knight ultimately used something else to take Vermin down, there’s no denying the fact that Jake himself directly overpowers Vermin three in that fight, once for getting Vermin off of Jake, and then Jake directly overpowering Vermin to pin him in the first place so that he could attack and incap him.

Lastly, there is one other factor towards getting Moon Knight to Spider-Man tier and that’s by scaling Moon Knight to Werewolf By Night. Given that Moon Knight first debuted in that series and they’re typically portrayed as being on par with one another, we can scale Moon Knight directly to Werewolf By Night and any instances he’s shown at being a Spider-Man level character. Getting into specifics, there was one instance where Werewolf By Night had fought Spider-Woman and he ended up overpowering her by strangling her until she fell unconscious.

In that instance, he directly overpowered her to where she couldn’t escape his grasp so scaling WBN to Spider-Woman in this instance is fair. Similarly, WBN has had multiple run-ins with our good ole Morbin friend, Morbius and their fights are usually pretty even. As such, it’s arguable to scale WBN to Morbius and any impressive feats he might have. In this case, Morbius has fought Lizard before, who is considered a Spider-Man tier villain and Morbius himself has had run-ins with Peter where he does prove to be Peter’s match. Through these instances, we can say that WBN is arguably a Spider-Man tier character and through scaling, would also support Moon Knight being Spider-Man tier as well.

Now, in terms of what feats Moon Knight would scale to being a Spider-Man tier, they would be on a whole other level compared to regular street-tiers. In the Insomniac games which crossover with the mainline 616 universe, Miles Morales contained an explosion that would have vaporized Harlem which gets about 24 megatons of TNT. Electro has feats getting about 316.5 and 754 megatons of TNT respectively and most impressively, Carnage while needing prosthetic legs afterwards, was capable of holding within him a gene bomb which gets a whopping 1.9 teratons of TNT! For consistency, Spider-Man 2099 was able to fight Chernobyl who was able to survive an explosion which got about 22 teratons of TNT… that’s well above anything Azrael can dish out, even if we do give Azrael Michael Lane scaling.

Speed is a lot simpler to talk about. Both Marvel and DC street-tiers have plenty of bullet and laser dodging feats. At their best, they have many feats that can be calculated as close to lightspeed or even faster. DC has nanosecond statements from Black Canary and Deathstroke with Marvel having nanosecond statements from Daredevil, Cyclops, and Beast. For the most part, these feats would equal out. When you factor in crossover scaling, this becomes even more consistent. But like with strength, you can argue that Azrael upscales in speed. He has statements of being faster than anyone in the Batfamily and you can argue that this includes Cassandra Cain given that Azrael has a feat of protecting Cass from a massive explosion before it can go off.

Cassandra Cain is extremely fast, even in comparison to other street-tiers like Robin who she moved FTE to. However, keep in mind that Robin would definitely downscale from feats performed by someone like Black Canary or Deathstroke as the former is more or less equal to Batman while the latter is slightly superior. Cassandra has also said that Deathstroke is faster than she is and given that he’s superhuman, this makes sense. However, we know that Deathstroke isn’t so fast that Batman automatically gets blitzed by him. Bruce has kept up with him. Cassandra’s feat of supposedly punching Batman before he could even notice is also bunk. It’s more likely that a fight took place off-panel between Batman telling Cass to go all out and the conversation they had later as we see that the windows weren’t broken originally but then they were when Batman starts to bleed.

When talking about the instance where Azrael protects Cassandra before she could react, it’s more likely to say that she was simply caught off guard. In this context, Cassandra touched a booby-trapped ornament which was set to explode. The argument is that Azrael caught Cassandra after the explosion started but before it reached Cass. However, we can really only assume this from what Dr. Leslie Thompkins said and given that she wasn’t at the site of the explosion, we can’t rely on it too much and thus, it’s safer to say she was caught off guard.

Even if there is upscaling, it’s egregious to say that Azrael is so much faster than Moon Knight to the point that he’d blitz Moon Knight. Yes, he was two steps ahead of Batman in his fight, however, Batman was still able to keep up for the most part. In a previous fight, Batman was also able to keep up with the Azbat. Azrael would be faster than Moon Knight, but not to a blitzing degree (especially under a full moon). And if we take the Cassandra Cain moving FTE to other characters, keep in mind that characters like Wolverine also have feats and statements similar to Cass’.

Suffice to say, there are numerous ends to which we can put these two characters at, to where one could argue the other potentially statstomps at vice versa. But across all possible scenarios, the most likely outcome that this category will result in is that Azrael is above Moon Knight in AP, but not enough for it to be an AP stomp, while they tie in terms of speed, and Moon Knight taking the edge in durability given how tough his armor is.

Arsenal & Abilities

When discussing Moon Knight and Azraels’s arsenal and abilities, there’s no denying that Moon Knight has a distinct advantage in terms of the sheer quantity of things Marc has at his disposal. But to be fair to Jean, let’s see what he has first.

In terms of the weapons Jean has at his disposal, there’s his iconic flaming sword, his standard suit which is made out of kevlar (which comes equipped with wrist blades and flamethrowers), and the Suit of Sorrows which increases Azrael’s already impressive skill just to name a few. Then, there’s Azrael’s Azbat Suit, which comes equipped with a utility belt’s worth of weapons such as gauntlets that can fire up to 2,000 batarangs at full auto speed, flamethrowers, rocket launchers, knockout gas, heavy duty tranquilizer darts, regular and smoke grenades, claws, cables that can support multiple tons, knock out gas grenades, phosphorus flares, knives, sonic weapons, a chest-sized flashbang, and a panic button which can discharge all the energy of the suit into electricity.

Most effectively, Azrael also has his Angel’s Wrath gauntlets which, once the energy blast hits someone, unleashes a magnetic field which will momentarily disrupt their nervous system and knock them unconscious. Lastly, Azrael possesses the Wrath of God ability which, upon touching his opponent’s head, will flood their mind with visions that will leave a person in awe. Needless to say, Azrael has a lot of weapons on hand. But with that said, many of those aspects of Azrael’s arsenal are countered by Moon Knight’s repertoire.

As previously mentioned, given that Moon Knight’s armor is made out of a metal as tough as carbonadium, the vast majority of Azrael’s weapons such as batarangs, rocket launchers, heavy duty tranquilizer darts, grenades, claws, knives, and flares would not be effective at piercing or damaging Moon Knight through his defenses. Additionally, given that Moon Knight’s armor is both insulated and fireproof, Azrael’s flamethrowers and electric discharges would be ineffective at harming Marc as well. The latter being even worse for Jean as it uses all of its energy.  At the same time, Moon Knight also possesses similar weapons in his arsenal that are arguably just as effective if not more than Azrael. Sure, Azrael’s Azbat suit has a chest-sized flashbang and can filter to block out bright lights, but Moon Knight’s explosive darts were capable of blinding Sentry.

Similarly, Azrael may have sonic weapons, but Moon Knight’s hypersonic stun device was able to cause immense pain to Joe Fixit Hulk. Now with that said, Azrael still does possess knockout gasses and grenades which could incapacitate Marc if given the chance. However, considering the fact that Moon Knight has ankhs which can warn him of danger, it’s safe to say he’d stay far away if needed. Plus there’s also the instance where Moon Knight stood within gas released by his own gas crescent dart. His mask provides brief protection to gasses and given he has only fallen susceptible to gasses under prolonged exposure, it’s unlikely that Azrael would be able to keep Moon Knight in place long enough to take advantage of Moon Knight’s vulnerability to gasses.

However, there is still one aspect of Azrael’s arsenal that could prove a threat to Marc, and that’s the Angel Wrath. With that weapon in hand, should Azrael be able to land it on Marc, that could possibly and effectively leave Moon Knight wide open for a kill since Marc has no way of resisting its effects. Unfortunately for Azrael, Moon Knight does have ways of being able to avoid getting hit by Angel’s Wrath. Firstly, given that both can be argued at relatively similar speeds, Azrael wouldn’t be capable of getting the jump on Marc with Angel’s Wrath in most scenarios. Secondly, whether through his ankhs or guidance from Khonshu, Moon Knight would be capable of being made aware of Angel’s Wrath, and given the fact Angel’s Wrath appears as a laser in terms of how it’s weaponized, it’s very likely Moon Knight would instinctively dodge the beam anyway regardless if he knows its true deadliness in the first place.

Finally, Moon Knight possesses numerous ways of directly avoiding the beam whether it be from tools in his arsenal or natural abilities. With his rope crescent darts and web shooters, Moon Knight would have multiple ways of maneuvering around the beam, especially since Spider-Man himself said that Moon Knight’s maneuverability is on par with him. Then, with Moon Knight’s energy shield and intangibility, he’d also have ways of directly blocking and evading Angel’s Wrath should he be unable to dodge quick enough. Yes, the magnetic properties of the Angel’s Wrath might make it difficult for the armor to block the blast, but the energy shield that Marc has can definitely block it. Cap’s energy shield has blocked lasers before and lasers are made up of electromagnetic radiation. Lastly, if at worst, Moon Knight is hit by Angel’s Wrath, Khonshu could just forcibly wake Moon Knight up so that Marc could continue the fight, since Khonshu can already forcibly put Marc to sleep as well, meaning Jean would lose any chance he had at ending the fight.

Then, there’s the discussion of Azrael’s Wrath of God ability and how it’s another possible way to incapacitate Moon Knight. However, instances where abilities similar to Wrath of God have been seen in the past before and Moon Knight has either responded with switching into his personalities of Steven and Jake while the one in control is unconscious or at worst, Khonshu can just forcibly remove whatever foreign mind has entered Marc’s mind. With that in mind, two of Azrael’s best options that could be used to incapacitate Marc are countered or have methods that Marc can employ to avoid being put in those situations. Simply put, for nearly all of Azrael’s options, Moon Knight either has a counter towards it or a more effective option at his disposal which evens the playing field.

Now, taking a look at Moon Knight’s most standard weapons, it already starts to show signs of having better versatility and effectiveness than Azrael’s weapons. With his adamantium truncheon, not only would it be useful as a long range weapon which Marc can call back, but in close quarters combat, the fact that it can extend into a bo staff means that up close, Moon Knight would have the edge in being able to keep his distance. And since the truncheon is made out of adamantium, Azrael would not only not be able to destroy it but Marc would arguably be striking Azrael with a herald level weapon. We know this as Moon Knight used it to kill Moonshade, a multiversal being

But most importantly is the special features that are present with Moon Knight’s Truncheon such as the Anti-Metal Pulse and Antarctic Vibranium Pulse which, when used, can emit frequencies so potent, it can disable technology and destabilize metals at the sub-atomic level, making them weaker. Just with this feature in Moon Knight’s truncheon alone, he could take out Azrael’s Azbat suit and the Angel’s Wrath gauntlet, arguably two of Azrael’s best offensive options when facing Moon Knight and his massive arsenal. Furthermore, unlike Angel’s Wrath, Moon Knight would not need to throw it directly at Azrael in order to weaponize it as he’s shown in the past that all he needs to do is set it up in the ideal place where it’ll be the most effective. So just with his armor and truncheon, Moon Knight would already be capable of handling a good chunk of Azrael’s offensive options.

Going further into Moon Knight’s arsenal, it paints a very clear picture in terms of how much stuff Moon Knight has which he can throw at Azrael. Between the different types of crescent darts Moon Knight has (including explosive darts, adamantium darts, scarabs, throwing irons, and even liquid nitrogen), Marc has plenty of ranged options to handle Azrael from a distance. With the weapons that Moon Knight has which are based on other heroes like Cap’s energy shield, Wolverine’s claws, and Spider-Man’s web shooters, he’d not only possess ways of piercing through Azrael’s armors and suits, but also ways in which he can restrain Azrael in place with Jean unable to break out immediately. Then with Moon Knight’s drones and ankhs, Marc would also always be aware of his environment and any possible tricks and sneak attacks that Azrael could employ on him. Granted, Moon Knight’s energy draining Ankhs wouldn’t be able to drain Azrael of his power due to the fact they couldn’t drain Black Panther of his power since it’s part of his blood.

Then, when talking about Moon Knight’s avenues for backup and assistance, it then puts a lot of pressure on Jean in terms of how much Moon Knight would be throwing at Jean. For one, thanks to Khonshu’s blessing, Marc would have the ability to summon an army of mummies and werewolves to his side and attack Jean. For context, these forces were essentially used to take over the world and were capable of preoccupying numerous Avengers such as Captain America, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Blade, She-Hulk, and Black Panther. What’s more, in one instance, they were able to briefly overwhelm Dr. Strange long enough for Moon Knight to steal his powers.

Marc can also open a portal leading undead past Moon Knights to attack Azrael. Now of course, with AoE weapons such as rocket launchers and flamethrowers on Azrael’s side on top of his superhuman physique, he’d be more than capable of handling the mummy and werewolf army given enough time, but in a fight with an opponent crafty as Moon Knight, every second counts and however much time Moon Knight can distract Azrael with an army of undead, the better chances Moon Knight can pull out any of his game-winning tactics. Even with the AoE, there’s not just a huge army that Azrael needs to deal with, but also Moon Knight himself. To say he could solo the armies and deal with Moon Knight at the same time is a tad bit disingenuous.

Similarly, Moon Knight also possesses a number of vehicles that he can call to his side, Blue Falcon style, whenever Marc is in a situation where he’s in over his head. For example, in the case of the Mooncopter, not only does it come equipped with its own autopilot mode, but when Moon Knight is actively controlling it, the Mooncopter comes along with twin 20mm rounds as well as a microprocessor master computer that monitors and interprets data, on top of radar, sonar, and infra-red capacities. In addition to its top speed being 200 miles per hour, it would serve as a very useful vehicle should Moon Knight have the opportunity to gain distance from Azrael. Next we have the Angelwing which Marc can control with just voice commands. With the Angelwing, Moon Knight can fire machine gun rounds, crescent darts, and missile swarms. Then, with the Angel Wings ability to magnetically disarm foes, it could very easily be used as a tool to disarming Azrael’s weapons.

Lastly, with its different modes such as pursuit, predator, and hunting, it could theoretically always keep the pressure on Jean and make it hard for him to deal with it in a timely manner. Even the Moonmobile can do something similar with its own auto pilot. There are drones Marc has at his disposal with its own automated modes. Though again, similar to the mummy and werewolf army, Azrael does possess the options needed to deal with these vehicles that Moon Knight can throw at him. But to reiterate, in a fight against someone like Moon Knight who has so many options to use in the first place against Jean, any time spent where Jean is caught off guarded, distracted, or even overwhelmed will prove fatal in the long run as Marc uses that time to come up with any possible game winning strategies. Marc can just throw too many things at Jean’s way, to the point Marc himself doesn’t have to fight or could use one of his potent weapons/ abilities to end the fight while Jean is distracted.

Moving on to both of their examples of stamina and endurance, they end up fairly similar in this regard. Both are capable of performing their roles as protectors even while enduring extreme pain such as stabbings, explosions, etc to the point where the pain could last for hours or even days. Likewise, their level of stamina is comparable in that both have operated for days without sleep or nutrition of any kind. With that said, it’s arguable that Moon Knight’s stamina is better than Jean’s as Marc was once able to last roughly two weeks in a room akin to solitary confinement with a rabid dolphin without any food given to him before eventually giving in and killing the dolphin to eat it. That’s a longer timeframe that Marc was able to hold out, compared to any feats than any of Jean’s feats of endurance or stamina.

Though, more than any weapon or ability at Moon Knight’s disposal, the one that will prove the most difficult for Jean to overcome in Moon Knight’s resurrection. Should Moon Knight be dealt a fatal wound, Khonshu will revive Marc in an instantaneous manner. This presents an even greater challenge for Azrael because now, Azrael’s potential options to take Marc down would not be as reliable due to how quick and potent Moon Knight’s resurrection can be.

Now, with that said, it’s unclear if Khonshu could bring Marc back should Moon Knight have his entire head destroyed, but considering how much Marc has to throw at Jean, their relatively similar stats, and Moon Knight’s options to evade Jean overall, Jean would have to be extremely lucky in order to get that opportunity to put Moon Knight down for good. Moreover, Jean wouldn’t be able to rely on any long range option to Moon Knight’s head to put him down as Marc implies he is capable of being resurrected even if stabbed through the head. So essentially, because of Moon Knight’s resurrection, Azrael would have to rely on a very specific win condition in order to put Moon Knight down for good, something that would be extremely difficult to do given all of Moon Knight’s options that could avoid a scenario like that.

Saving the best for last, the big debate that this MU arguably comes down to is the support these two characters can access, Khonshu for Moon Knight and the System for Azrael. In regards to the System for Azrael, it’s a mental programming implemented into every Azrael that effectively gives Azrael the skills and experience of every previous Azrael, on top of being able to block out pain for Jean, warn Jean of incoming events, grant Jean a photographic memory, automatically make Jean dodge attacks, move Jean out of pure instinct, and adapt to make plans while on the fly.

Additionally, Jean also has support from a Batman AI that is, quote, “based on Batman’s best attributes.” With these abilities and support at Jean’s disposal, this allows him to keep up with all the crazy shit Moon Knight can throw at him as he’d be capable of adapting and instinctively reacting to a good portion of Moon Knight’s arsenal while also making him be able to power through any of the stuff that may damage him throughout the fight. However, despite the System’s effectiveness, the help given to Moon Knight through Khonshu would be just as effective in handling Azrael.

Just in terms of describing Khonshu on his own, he’s an abstract elder god who's been passing down the Moon Knight mantle for generations on top of having millions of years of warring with other heroes and gods. In terms of what Khonshu can give Moon Knight, Khonshu can help guide Moon Knight throughout the entire fight and offer Moon Knight strategies in order to handle what Jean can throw at Marc.

Likewise, Khonshu can also detect incoming threats from the future and make Marc aware of them, effectively evening out with the System’s ability to do the same. Next, there’s also the fact that Khonshu can directly interfere with anyone messing with Moon Knight in a mental capacity. As mentioned before, with Khonshu’s aid, Khonshu can effectively force Jean out of Marc’s mind should Azrael attempt to use Wrath of God.

Now, outside of the support Khonshu can grant Marc which will offer a counter to the System, Khonshu also possesses abilities that could mess with Azrael in terms of his adaptability. For one, Khonshu himself can manipulate the air as a way to essentially hinder Azrael’s movement and keep Jean at distance from Moon Knight. Secondly, Khonshu can also mess with the Earth, forcing Jean to adapt in unexpected ways while Moon Knight himself will be unaffected. But lastly and most crucially, Khonshu can mess with someone’s head and even create illusions, forcibly making Jean see things he truly isn’t, and while the System can tell if people are lying, it isn’t capable of breaking through an illusion, and would unknowingly make Jean adapt in a situation that isn’t real and set Jean up for a swift kill by Moon Knight.

But even with the System’s impressive display of abilities it grants Jean, it isn’t a surefire counter to everything. Sure, the System can block out pain for Jean but Moon Knight has taken advantage of pressure points in the past to incapacitate people, even ones who don’t feel pain. The System grants Jean impressive trajectory calculations to make expert shots and help Jean react out of instinct, but it’s not perfect. It has failed before, especially when the environment around Jean isn’t the greatest place to fight. This is where Moon Knight’s greater mobility comes into play as he can attack from all around Azrael while Azrael would struggle to keep up. Given all of the options Moon Knight has to throw at Azrael, it would be difficult for the System to guide Jean in a timely enough manner to counteract all of it.

While Azrael could hypothetically calculate the exact projectiles that Moon Knight is throwing his way and catch them, Moon Knight has a lot of different kinds of projectiles and there’s no realistic way for Azrael to know about the anti-metal pulse in the truncheon which is bad because Moon Knight loves using his truncheon as a ranged attack. Him grabbing the truncheon would be incredibly detrimental as it would fuck up a lot of his technology and completely destroy his Azbat armor. He could maybe shoot some of the projectiles down, but so could Moon Knight! In fact Moon Knight has straight up cut bullets in half and given that his crescent darts are adamantium, anything that Azrael throws his way could easily just be sliced up. And Moon Knight not only LOVES ranged attacks, but is incredibly skilled at them, such as when he did this…

Plus the System doesn’t really have any precognition. The System warning Azrael that his “friends” will betray him in the future is super vague and can’t be counted as precog. It could just be general advice. It did warn him that some food was poisoned but Azrael ended up eating it anyways… and then there’s the instance it told Azrael to turn on the TV, which is definitely the worst example yet and isn’t even close to being precognition.

Simply put, Moon Knight and Azrael possess unbelievable impressive arsenal and abilities that would most certainly keep the other on their toes. But when comparing the overall effectiveness on both sides, Moon Knight has the better options and support to more easily control the battle in his favor while Jean would have to play a near perfect fight and rely on very specific circumstances in order to get the openings he needs, giving this category to the Fist of Khonshu.

Tertiary Factors

Surprisingly, this last category is both easier and just as complicated to discuss as the other categories.

In regards to experience, there’s no question that Azrael would have the edge in this regard. With the System, Azrael would have the experience of every past Azrael in the Order of St. Dumas which at most could go back 900 years. Comparatively, Marc has nowhere near that same level of experience.

However, at the same time, given that Marc has the support of Khonshu, an elder god who has millions of years of experience in terms of combat, at his side, it would allow Moon Knight to keep up in the sense of Marc being guided with the combat knowledge and experience of someone who is far older than the Order of St. Dumas. Still, Azrael would take the advantage in the sense that his experience is essentially wired into him instead of being from outside support.

In regards to skill, this category is not as clear cut as experience. Similarly to experience, thanks to the System, Jean would also have all the skills of past Azraels wired into him. On top of that, Jean is also complimented on his skill by Ra's Al Ghul and the League of Assassins as well as Nightwing claiming Azrael knows everything that he knows. However, it’s arguable that in terms of that the last statement that Nightwing doesn’t relate all of Jean’s skill to specifically martial arts. Even if he did and we take into account the fact that Nightwing is arguably proficient in all the styles of martial arts, the same can be said for Moon Knight.

Regardless, Jean is a skilled fighter in his own right, but it doesn’t take away from Marc who has been a part of CIA and the Marines, fighting in three African Wars and five South American revolutions. Then there’s also the abundance of statements of Moon Knight being proficient in different styles of martial arts, with his skill even being complemented by Shang Chi, in spite of Moon Knight’s brashness, one of the best martial arts masters in Marvel.

Lastly, while the validity of the instance is debatable, Moon Knight has also faced off against a character known as Hunter’s Moon, the other Fist of Khonshu who was granted the Gift of Chorus, which gives him the skills and experience of every past Moon Knight every, which dates back to the Ice Age. While Hunter’s Moon commented on Moon Knight’s skill being animalistic compared to his own, Moon Knight later beat him down (albeit with a sneak attack) which is still very impressive for his stealth. Sneaking up on a character with all the skill and experience of every Moon Knight going back a few million years?

That’s pretty good! However, what makes it even more interesting is that Moon Knight stated that he had earned his skill and experience whereas Hunter’s Moon did not. You could interpret this to mean that Marc is comparable if he wishes to be, but even if you consider that a stretch, it’s not too bad for Marc as he’s shown to be able to fight characters on a similar tier of skill to Hunter’s Moon just fine. At worst, he can keep up with Azrael and at best, he can match in skill. Especially since Khonshu would be guiding Moon Knight in battles with his millions of years of experience and the best that we can say is that these two tie in terms of skill.

And let’s also talk about the way they fight. Moon Knight loves to go for the weak spots. Yes, you can argue that the face is a weak spot for Marc since the carbonadium doesn’t cover it and that the System will let Jean know about the weakness. But the thing is, it’ll only take a few hits for Marc to notice how much stronger Jean is than him and like we covered above, Azrael won’t be obliterating Marc through sheer stats. Marc’s pain tolerance and durability is surprisingly efficient. He’s practically immune to pain but can still feel small amounts of it. Now, this might seem like a disadvantage when you take into fact that the System can turn off pain but here’s the thing… that can actually be a disadvantage.

Azrael won’t know when Marc has dealt a critical hit and given that he goes for pressure points and vital arteries, a deep enough laceration or stab wound with an adamantium crescent dart can very easily turn the tide. Azrael can really only hit Marc’s face in a CQC fight whereas Marc can go for the eyes, neck, throat, chest, groin, legs, etc. Anywhere with a major nerve or artery, Marc can strike with his stabbing weapons or his truncheon and if Jean can’t feel pain, he won’t know how much damage he’s taken.

Sure the System can warn Jean about the damage but with everything Marc has, it’s simply more likely that he can just overwhelm Jean and wear him down over time. Now, Azrael likely also has knowledge of all these pressure points given that he’s approximately on par with someone like Nightwing in skill but the difference here is that Marc not only uses these techniques a ton, but he genuinely enjoys torturing his opponents and going for weak spots.

Lastly, there’s the topic of intellect in which both have very impressive displays of brainpower. Moon Knight himself has be able to pick apart crime scenes just by looking at them, as well as adapt to intense situations like realizing an opponent is attacking him from multiple places, stopping a virus that took control of a dozen heroes, utilizing the environment to his advantage, tricking a villain by giving him an Ultron head to depower him, and escaping a death trap with a can of beer, and even playing Taurus right into his hands by faking his death and leading him into a base looking for the means to escape but in actuality, trapping him with Moon Knight. Moon Knight has also proven himself to be crafty whenever the situation calls for it such as being able to keep note of small details which he can exploit for later uses as well as changing in and out of disguises very quickly or just disappearing from people’s eyes entirely. Needless to say, Marc is one smart cookie.

Jean is no slouch either in this regard however. Jean has solved a program that Batman made to stump himself, identified the location of things such as bombs or trackers by just getting a look at the room or locating sensors, and while he failed, made progress in developing his own Motherbox. This is also on top of Jean having the Batfamily’s famous stealth which can be used to disappear at a moment’s notice. With that said, while both have shown incredible intellect in their own right, Moon Knight arguably takes this edge more than Azrael as Marc himself has shown to be way quicker in terms of putting pieces together of multiple situations he’s placed in any reacting accordingly in a more timely manner than Azrael. Granted, you could argue the System could help with Azrael’s adaptability in terms of situations Jean is put in, but the same could then be said for Khonshu who could help Marc in the exact same way.

Last note that is worth mentioning is that while Moon Knight’s strategy of “random bullshit GO” could be seen as detrimental, it’s actually proven its effectiveness multiple times in the past as it allows Marc to essentially overwhelm his opponent with as much stuff as possible to lead them right into Moon Knight’s hand, such as Moon Knight’s fight with Black Knight. Even when this tactic doesn’t always work out, Marc is capable of improvising plans on the fly and craft unconventional situations where his opponent can play right into Marc’s hand.

Finally, something crucial for this fight would be stealth. Both Azrael and Moon Knight are masters of stealth but of course, Azrael has been trained by the Batfamily so one could see him as being better in stealth due to Batfamily members regularly being able to sneak away from kryptonians like Superman. Of course, Superman holds back and it’s illogical to assume that other kryptonians like Supergirl would be using the full extent of their senses to locate someone like Batman given that they have feats of being able to hear sounds from galaxies away.

Moon Knight on the other hand has used his stealth against Daredevil whose senses are a lot more grounded than Superman. Even still, Daredevil’s senses are ridiculously busted, so Moon Knight being able to stealth around him is pretty damn impressive! It’s more likely that both are on even playing fields in stealth given that stealthing around kryptonians would in most circles, be considered PIS. However, if it happened, it happened and so, if one had to be given an advantage here, it would undoubtedly be Azrael. That being said, Moon Knight has methods of tracking Azrael while he’s hiding in the darkness such as trackers or by using his glowing ankhs which can warn him of danger.

Similarly, Azrael could use different modes of vision to try to find Moon Knight when he’s using his own stealth. Both of them have efficient ways to counter the other’s stealth, even if it would be difficult to do so.

Overall, these two are very similar in terms of tertiary advantages. Azrael takes experience but with Khonshu’s guidance, Moon Knight is not entirely outmatched. Likewise, Moon Knight might take intellect but not to a degree where Azrael can’t keep up.

Finally, these two then arguably tie in terms of skill. At worst, Azrael might have a bit of an advantage due to having more direct skill statements but given that Moon Knight should be on par with someone like Nightwing in skill, it’s more than likely equal, especially with the Hunter’s Moon statement in the background which shows that Moon Knight can at least keep up with more skilled and experienced fighters. As such, it’s best to say that in terms of the main 3 tertiary advantages, they’re pretty even if at first glance, it seems to be in Azrael’s favor.

Conclusion

"Listen. Where you're going? Tell your friends. Tell everyone you meet. You tell them all. When you see me coming? Run."

Advantages:

  • Much stronger and faster w/ Spidey scaling

  • Durability is far higher via carbonadium armor

  • Much larger arsenal of weapons which gives both CQC and ranged advantages

  • Anti-Metal/Antarctic Vibranium pulses can take out good handful of Azrael’s options

  • Intangibility from a distance limits Azrael’s options from afar

  • Moon Knight has work-arounds to Angel’s Wrath and Wrath of God

  • Numerical advantage with army of mummies, werewolves, and undead MK armies

  • Vehicles and web-shooters give mobility advantage and would help gain distance, distract, and pin Azrael

  • Resurrection makes Moon Knight hard to kill…

  • Moon Knight’s fighting style can turn Azrael’s pain immunity against him

  • Can be argued to match Azrael in skill

  • Is slightly smarter and more craftier battle strategist

  • Khonshu’s aid is on par with the System

  • Khonshu’s abilities allow for a definitive battlefield advantage

  • Azrael’s stealth can be countered…

  • Moon Knight 2014

  • Looks cooler

Disadvantages:

  • Weaker and potentially slower w/o Spidey scaling

  • Carbonadium armor doesn’t cover his face

  • …but probably couldn’t resurrect if head is cut off

  • A lot of his weapons can be caught or blocked due to the System’s calculative ability

  • Batman AI seems pretty damn op…

  • Power nullifying ankhs likely won’t work

  • Stealth may be slightly less impressive and Azrael has counters

  • Less naturally experienced

  • Was robbed of a movie

  • Dracula still owes him his fuckin’ money

Needless to say, there is a lot to factor in with this MU. So much so that regardless of who wins, it’s by no means an easy fight for either character. When examining these characters in terms of everything they got, it’ll certainly make this fight a close one.

Moon Knight should, for the most part, match up in stats. Azrael definitely has better upscaling but the fact that Moon Knight has upscaling at all means that he won’t be entirely unmatched. We have to take him at his best, which would be under a full moon and here, Moon Knight is in his environment. If we take Spider-Man's scaling into account, he’d absolutely throttle Azrael in any CQC fight. He’d simply be too fast and too strong.

However, if you disagree with this, Azrael will simply have a strength and speed advantage due to his upscaling against someone like Batman. However, strength doesn’t matter too much if you can’t get past your opponent’s durability and this is exactly the situation Azrael is in. He can’t break Moon Knight’s armor so he would either have to resort to Angel’s Wrath or aim for the face. Both would be great methods to take out Moon Knight if Moon Knight didn’t have counters for them.

Angel’s Wrath could definitely put him down but you could just argue that he’d dodge it or block it with his shield. If he were to get hit, Khonshu could likely just wake him up before Azrael closed the gap. Even if the System did make Azrael aware of Moon Knight’s weak spot (his face), Moon Knight wouldn’t just let Azrael go for the weak point. The majority of his body is covered with a metal almost as tough as adamantium and that makes it extremely difficult to penetrate or break through the armor.

Marc’s own fighting style, however, is reliant on aiming for the weak spots and he 100% will attack Azrael in spots like the face, neck, chest, groin, and legs. If he can’t hurt Azrael with his fists or feet (which he likely can due to carbonadium plating), he can simply use weapons like his crescent darts or truncheon which will definitely cause a lot of damage to Azrael. And even if you say that Azrael can keep up due to his pain tolerance and stamina, the pain tolerance will be more detrimental against Moon Knight than anything else given his style of fighting.

Azrael is less likely to be aware of the damage to his body and by the time the System or Batman AI makes him aware, it’s likely that Moon Knight would have dealt a critical hit that will gradually start to weaken Azrael over time. And this isn’t taking into account any of Moon Knight’s armies, vehicles, or other esoteric gear which will simply make the fight a bit easier for him. It’s possible to win even without any of these simply because of how Moon Knight fights and how tough his armor is but with a combination of all of these, Marc can perfectly put together a good strategy to take down Azrael. He’s still an extremely skilled fighter and can keep up in a CQC fight.

And let’s get one thing straight. Azrael will not know about the resurrection. That’s a level beyond what the System has been shown to be capable of analyzing. Khonshu might not always want to bring back Marc, but in a fight like this, it’s fair to assume that he might. Despite everything he’s done, there have been moments that show that Khonshu can be a compassionate and forgiving god. Even if Azrael does kill Marc, there’s nothing to say he wouldn’t be caught off guard by Marc coming back to life. And if Marc were to be killed and he gets a second chance to take Azrael down, he absolutely would do everything to put Azrael down. In a situation where Jean-Paul Valley doesn’t see Marc coming back, this Angel of the Bat will definitely fall to the Moon Knight.

Azrael

Stats

Considering the controversial nature of Marvel vs DC street-tier discourse, there’s a lot to go into on stats alone for who is superior between the Fist of Khonshu and the Angel of Death. So without wasting that much time (since there’s a lot to go into for even just stats), let’s get this show on the road.

While you could go into a debacle on who has the better direct feats, discuss which explosions they’ve personally tanked are better, and so on, it’d be a general waste of time when in terms of scaling. Both are comparable to characters that get far, far higher than either of them get with direct feats. In terms of their scaling, both should be comparable to most feats that their fellow street-level characters perform, so let’s see how high both of their scaling gets them in terms of the more simple to scale feats.

For Moon Knight, he’d be comparable to Deadpool withstanding a point-blank punch that caused an explosion that launched him out of Krakoa, which would get about 30.9 Kilotons of TNT. Moon Knight would scale to this due to him having beaten Deadpool in the past, so the scaling should be pretty clear-cut.

For Azrael, there’s a lot more feats for him to scale to even on a baseline street tier level when comparing him to Batman. In Batman's case, he withstood a blast from an earthquake gun that shook Gotham hard enough to collapse poorly built buildings, with that range and magnitude meaning the earthquake gun would have energy equivalent to 26.8 kilotons of TNT. But we can push it further with scaling to Adam Strange, who through several instances shows that Batman should be superior to Adam.

As for why Adam Strange is worth talking about? As you likely saw in the scaling section, Adam Strange has a tendency to get launched high distances in short timeframes, such as the time he was accelerated across Earth's diameter in a very rapid timeframe (77 Kilotons), and how Adam Strange survived being accelerated on a meteor towards the sun (62.9 Kilotons). So with raw numbers it seems Azrael is about two and a half times stronger than Moon Knight. But we can push it further when you take into account just how well Azrael performs compared to his fellow street tiers.

For starters, we’ve already established that Batman should be superior to Adam Strange, with him easily dispatching Adam Strange's average foes while Adam Strange struggles with Gotham’s thugs, so that's one layer of upscaling established already. But then you have Batman's final fight with Azrael, where he no-sold “two of my (Batman’s) best shots” and threw around Batman like, in Batman’s own words “as though I were a stuffed toy”, and this was while Azrael was exhausted, meaning that while Azrael is exhausted, he’s still no-selling Batman’s attacks, and he’d likely be even stronger when at peak performance (IE: not exhausted). Azrael’s upscaling is far better to the point where you can argue he’d be no-selling Moon Knight’s attacks in a similar vein to him no-selling Batman’s attacks.

Q: Wouldn’t Moon Knight getting stronger with Moon Phases cancel out Azrael's upscaling?

A: There are multiple statements that Moon Knight gets stronger based on the phase of the moon. Given he’s comparable to other street tiers such as Daredevil and Punisher in the day, one can conclude he’d thus be stronger than them during a full moon by a fair bit. The problem however is that the upscaling is vague. While Moon Knight is getting stronger depending on the phase of the moon, it isn’t enough to assume that Moon Knight would be able to match Azrael's raw upscaling in comparison, even if it could slightly close the gap.

Q: But what about the Deadpool fight? Wouldn’t that show that Moon Knight is similarly stomping other Street Tiers at his peak?

A: Based on the last part of the fight you can make that assumption, but while it was a full moon, Moon Knight was far from stomping Deadpool in the fight. The fight that takes place in Vengeance of the Moon Knight 2009, Issue 7-8, they have two separate fights with separate outcomes. While they are shown to be on par, Deadpool is beating Moon Knight down in their prior fight while in Deadpool's own words “not taking this seriously”, though it was a crescent moon and thus wasn't his full power, it does still put a basis for us to compare how Moon Knight does on a full moon.

But when it comes to Moon Knight's fight against Deadpool on a full moon, Moon Knight wasn’t actively stomping in that fight. Deadpool sends Moon Knight sprawling with a single hit and catches his crescent darts, and it’s heavily implied that Moon Knight took learning Deadpool has a healing factor as an excuse to start brutalizing him if nothing else based on him pulling his sword out in response, and going into a sword fight where he starts actively going for lethal blows. Because you can see in the glass that Deadpool isn’t getting stomped into the ground, and is more likely just struggling with the fact that Moon Knight is going to actively carve up Deadpool rather than him stomping Deadpool in a fight.

This leaves that while Moon Knight has objective upscaling based on the phase of the moon, it realistically isn’t that big of a gap in terms of how much upscaling Moon Knight gets with the moon phases. It’s there, but there’s nothing able to say it’s enough that he’d be bulldozing people he previously struggled with during the day or on lower moon phases. So we’re left in a situation where Azrael has layers of upscaling, while Moon Knight only has vague upscaling, leaving Azrael clearly with the edge in power for the moment. Of course, there’s something that actively needs to be discussed. As you saw in the scaling, if Moon Knight were to scale to everyone's favorite Neighborhood Spider-Man, he’d be hundreds if not millions of times stronger! Which would be important to go over if Marc actually scales to that.

Unfortunately, there’s problems with almost every single instance you can go through with scaling the Lunar Legionare to Spider-Man level threats, as they have some sort of blaring hole that is difficult to ignore. For starters, simply fighting Spider-Man wouldn’t be enough to scale, as Spider-Man has actively shown he doesn’t go all out against his allies or even his foes, based on things like him stating he needs to hold back on Mysterio, one of his villains, and the fact that Doctor Octopus had never seen Peter’s true strength in his entire life. Due to the fact that Peter’s held back even on some of his biggest villains, you’d have to actively prove Moon Knight scales more than just ‘he fought Spider-Man once’ as that is not strong enough evidence for him being on the same level.

Q: He blinded Mountain Man Marko, who's on par with Luke Cage! How wouldn’t he scale to Luke Cage through that?

A: Mountain Man Marko would indeed scale to Luke Cage, as he’s treated as an equal to him and even is acknowledged as such by the Iron Fist, and Moon Knight did indeed gouge out Mountain Man Marko’s eyes. Both of these are true statements, but when you look into the context is when things don’t hold up. Mountain Man Marko, like several other villains in Devil’s Reign, were locked up in Myrmidon and had their powers nullified. We know the units arresting the heroes have power nullifying tech, such as handcuffs they used on Ben O’Reily or collars they used for Reed Richards. It’s even noted in the story by both the guards and by Moon Knight that the villains were also nullified of their powers. This means that while Moon Knight did blind Mountain Man Marko, he didn’t do so at Marko’s full strength, putting a prominent hole in the scaling chain to Luke Cage.

Q: He fought Hobgoblin, who's a pretty notable Spider-Man villain and was even stated to be Green Goblin’s equal in strength, what's wrong with that?

A: While Moon Knight wasn’t beaten down into a pulp, he does state on three separate occasions that he is weaker than Hobgoblin, and considering he never draws blood from Hobgoblin, and that Hobgoblin was internally weakened by the fact his demon side (specific to Macendale) and his human side were wrestling for control, all likely means even still he wasn’t fighting at his full strength. Though to throw Moon Knight a bit of credit, this isn’t a full anti-feat for full moon Moon Knight, as Moon Knight was depowered during this instance (he has that happen that a lot, funnily enough), meaning the statements aren’t technically an anti feat for Moon Knight.

Q: What about Shadowland Daredevil? The dude threw like, eight street tiers off him at once, including Luke Cage and Spider-Man, and Marc drew blood!

A: For context, during the Shadowland arc, Daredevil had become possessed by the Beast of the Hand, making him the antagonist of the arc and massively amplifying his physical abilities and skill. At his peak, it allowed him to overpower multiple top tier street tiers at the same time, such as Spider-Man, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. The problem with scaling Moon Knight to this level of power is that throughout the Shadowland event, we know that Shadowland Daredevil was getting actively stronger, meaning that we can’t scale Marc to a level of power that Shadowland Daredevil was at after his battle with Moon Knight.

So, how strong was Shadowland Daredevil at the time of fighting Moon Knight?

Well, his main fight as of that point was his first face-off against his fellow heroes, where the likes of Iron Fist, Shang Chi and Spider-Man (among others) confronted him, where he got out unscathed. However, this has a considerable issue in the fact that Iron Fist explicitly didn’t want to hurt Daredevil, Shang-Chi doesn’t want to fight him, and Spider-Man actively wants to talk it out rather than fight him as well, which would actively hinder any form of scaling that Shadowland Daredevil could get from this fight.

Even looking at the statement made by Shang Chi and Iron Fist after the fight doesn’t imply Daredevil was on their physical level with the statement. “Order of magnitude greater than anything he was capable of before” in context is more likely referring to his martial skill, with comments such as “He is the master of Kung Fu” or Iron Fist commenting on Daredevil’s prior skill being clear indications of that, making it difficult to assume Moon Knight would be on the same level of power as the likes of Iron Fist or Spider-Man based on him harming Shadowland Daredevil.

Q: He took a hit from Venom trying to kill him and wasn’t dead on impact, wouldn’t that scale?

A: The most egregious instances by far, the argument for this instance of scaling is that Moon Knight survived an attack from Venom actively trying to kill him.

He did not.

Q: What about Vermin, didn’t Marc fight him two separate times, and won both?

A: This is the big one that’s brought up in terms of Moon Knight being on the level of Spider-Man tier characters. Moon Knight has fought against Vermin two separate times, one at the beginning of Moon Knight 2021, and the other during Moon Knight: Black White and Blood. Let’s tackle these one at a time.

Starting with the encounter Moon Knight had during the beginning of the 2021 run, while Moon Knight does battle with several Vermin clones, the encounter is fairly brief. He punches a few of them and kicks one of them out a window. There’s not much giving clear, 100% surefire scaling to Vermin and by extent Spider-Man tier characters. We know Moon Knight’s armor is made out of Carbonadium, so it’d be fairly easy to understand why Moon Knight isn’t actively being mauled to death like how Spider-Man was.

That said, this is also because Moon Knight only ever fights two to three at a time at most, whereas Spider-Man was being jumped by over 10 plus Vermin clones. More notably, Moon Knight never clearly damages one of them, just punches and shoves them around and maybe makes one or two of them spit in a small amount of recoil. Nothing clearly indicates that he’d be actively on the same level.

Q: Doesn’t Moon Knight say he can kill all of them?

A: Correct, but that doesn’t actively mean he’s physically going to be able to overpower them, as when taking into account what Moon Knight used during that fight. He already had tools that were blatantly above the Vermins’ durability based on the crescent darts he had pelted one of the Vermin clones with prior. Add on the fact that Moon Knight emphasizes that he can’t die thanks to Khonshu as part of the reason he can kill them all, and it’s difficult to argue that Moon Knight solely meant he would be able to overpower and beat down all the Vermins when there’s clear alternatives that he could mean for that statement that’d make more sense in context.

As for the instance during Moon Knight: Black White and Blood, this one is a lot more arguable as Moon Knight is in his Mr. Knight suit rather than his full armor. Though that just shows how well Vermin is capable of cutting through Moon Knight with a single attack slashing through his shoulder as a starting note. The physical scaling is also somewhat dubious here, as Moon Knight only ever takes the advantage after hitting Vermin through with three Crescent Darts, in which while Vermin is caught off guard by the pain, tackles him onto the ground and force feeds him the gunk in the sewer they were fighting until he’s foaming at the mouth defeated.

This isn’t exactly 100% clear cut still. You can argue Vermin was caught off guard by the damage and the blood loss from a Crescent Dart to the skull would likely have let Moon Knight take the advantage, as he doesn’t actively seem to put up much of a fight once the Crescent Darts land. Force-feeding someone to choke them out wouldn’t need to overcome their durability in order to take them out. It doesn’t help that in terms of Moon Knight being consistently on that level, it’s not supported whatsoever.

He’s considered Luke Cage a heavy hitter in comparison to himself, Spider-Man has seen Moon Knight as someone without powers, and when Spider-Man actively threatened Moon Knight and Punisher to stop fighting or he’d step in, Moon Knight actively backed down. Or how on a full moon Moon Knight was being staggered and held off by Deadpool in a fight, and Wolverine, someone who Deadpool has gone even with multiple times, is blatantly downright inferior to Spider-Man

In conclusion, it’s far too inconsistent for Moon Knight to be on the level of Spider-Man level characters, and his dubious fights against Vermin don’t hold up comparatively to much larger in raw quantity amount of evidence suggesting that even during a full moon, Moon Knight wouldn’t be on the level of Spider-Man and those who scale to an all out Spider-Man. Without that, the gap is solidly in Azrael’s favor by 2.56x, with stronger upscaling in Jean’s case to give him a more significant power edge.

Q: Okay, what about the crossover? Wouldn’t that make the stat gap irrelevant?

A: Even if you were to use the crossover, Azrael’s upscaling is far more blatant and on a higher level than Moon Knight’s. So let’s lay their respective upscaling out and see how they compare.

Moon Knight has: Vague upscaling based on the Moon Phases, it’s objective that he gets stronger, but there isn’t a super quantifiable gap for how much stronger he gets. So Marc would vaguely upscale from standard street-tier stats.

Azrael has: Being on the level of Venom-enhanced Bird who is comparable to Azbat era Bane on Venom, who snapped Batman's back and beat him senseless. Azrael has a statement from the person who raised previous Azrael’s including himself when he was a test-tube baby that he was capable of soloing Arkham at his full strength. Azrael when exhausted was no-selling attacks from Batman's best punches and in Batman’s own thoughts threw him around like a stuffed toy.

You can argue that Azrael's strength gap wouldn’t be as massive anymore by this point, but it doesn’t address the fact that Moon Knight is only vaguely upscaling, while Azrael's upscaling is far more concrete in the sense of him being far above other street tiers to the point of no-selling their attacks and ragdolling them.

Q: What about the Punisher-Azrael crossover?

A: Firstly, it’s weird to use this one as it’s debatable on if it’d be even applicable to both characters to begin with, as the presence of Earth-7642 makes a one off story like this contentious on if it’s truly the main versions we’re focusing on. According to both the Marvel and DC wiki, the Punisher-Azrael crossover took place on this earth, though we were not able to get access to the online companion to the All New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe (2006) for this blog to 100% solidify it.

Now, speed thankfully is a lot simpler to discuss comparatively, as with or without crossover scaling, Marvel and DC go blow for blow in terms of their speed feats. Both series have characters dodging lasers (Alanna Strange and Deadpool), deflecting lasers with their blades (Katana and Wolverine), and reacting in nanoseconds (Cyclops and Black Canary). Like it was mentioned earlier, matched blow for blow. However, the same can not be said for how fast both are in terms of their upscaling compared to their fellow street-tier heroes, so let’s lay out their respective upscaling.

For Azrael, he’s already noted to be faster than anyone in the Batfamily, and is faster than Batman while exhausted, so that’s already some decent upscaling since he’s considered the fastest member of the Batfamily. But what’s more interesting is the fact that this statement explicitly does include Cassandra Cain. Which is consistent with Azrael actively massively outreacting Cassandra Cain to save her from an explosion that she was touching as it went off, showing that yes, Azrael is likely comparable if not outright noticeably faster then Cassandra Cain. So, what's so important about Cassandra? She’s actively blitzed Robin in the past while taking down people attacking him, Robin himself explicitly saying “It happened so fast, I didn’t see a thing”. So Cassandra, and by extent Azrael, would be a layer of blitzing normal street tiers at their peak.

In comparison, Moon Knight actively lacks showings to show he’s significantly faster than other Street level characters in Marvel other than the general Moon Phase upscaling (and even still, there’s only one debatable instance on if the moon phases increase Moon Knight’s speed if you look at the list of lunar energy statements). There’s not much actively showing he’s notably faster than his fellow street tiers that would imply a blitzing layer in terms of upscaling. You can hypothetically push it further with an instance of Batman being shown to move FTE to Poison Ivy and he himself is weaker and slower than an exhausted Azrael, but you could counter-argue with Moon Knight at least being on one level of FTE compared to normal street tiers thanks to Wolverine, though neither are 100% consistent unlike Cassandra’s FTE speed, and you can poke holes in both.

So, regardless of crossover scaling or not, Azrael will always be stronger, and will always be significantly faster than Moon Knight. The Angel of Death takes this category solidly.

Arsenal & Abilities

So Azrael solidly takes the stat trinity, but how does St. Dumas’ holy knight handle the Random Bullshit of Moon Knight's wide array of weapons and abilities? Well, for starters it is worth noting that while both have massive arsenals, not everything in them is going to be making a massive impact on the fight. Things such as Moon Knight’s vampire stake, chainsaw, and walkie talkie aren’t going to be turning the tide of the fight, and the same can be said for Azrael's smaller knives, instant lockpick, and communication gear.

In terms of direct counters, Azrael having walked off being struck by lightning and his suit being insulated means the electric charge in Moon Knight’s truncheon wouldn’t have that much effect on him, and similarly the Azbat Suit’s filter for bright lights counters any sort of flashbang Moon Knight were to try. The suit being fireproof negates Moon Knight’s plasma torch attempting to burn through Azrael, and the suit being explicitly bulletproof negates Moon Knight's more traditional firearms.

Similarly, any of Moon Knight's knock-out gas could be negated by Azrael having filters he can equip, and even if he was affected, it would struggle to get through him due to the fact that drugs explicitly work slower on Azrael, which similarly can be said for Moon Knight's tranquilizers. Moon Knight's ability to induce fear via just being generally terrifying is even countered by the fact that the System has allowed Azrael to push through fear induced by the likes of the Scarecrow in the past, meaning that Moon Knight simply being terrifying to his foes is not enough to debilitate Azrael.

Whereas on the opposite end, Moon Knight’s mental resistances would negate Wrath of God’s visions from even phasing him, and even if he did, Khonshu can dispel mental attacks on Moon Knight like he did with Shadowland Daredevil, meaning that Wrath of God isn’t going to be helping Azrael that much throughout the fight. Similarly, Azrael’s arsenal of fiery weapons won't be as potent at burning Moon Knight to a crisp seeing as his armor is fire-resistant. There is an argument on Moon Knight also countering knock-out gas based on this instance, though that is not really a blatant resistance of him resisting it, and Moon Knight has succumbed to knock out gas multiple times before. With this in mind, let’s start laying out what both have that would actively work on their opponent.

Marc’s showings of being vulnerable to knockout gas and having no instances of countering flashbangs or tranquilizers gives Azrael multiple ways to attempt to incapacitate and disorient Moon Knight as the fight goes on, especially since Moon Knight has no way to know that the Azbat suit’s chest is a long-range flashbang that can blind people. Moon Knight similarly doesn’t exactly have an answer to Azrael's wide AOE, such as his flamethrowers, grenades or rockets, as Moon Knight doesn’t really have any good showings of AOE with his weapons himself, giving Azrael a good amount of leeway to catch Moon Knight in an attack. More notably however, is Angel’s Wrath, a pair of gauntlets that, as described in its dedicated section, use an augmented magnetic field to disrupt the nervous system, meaning that upon any contact the beam makes with Moon Knight, he would be knocked unconscious nearly instantly.

Moon Knight’s armor wouldn’t block it either, due to the fact that you can’t block an electromagnetic field, and if anything, Moon Knight's armor would just conduct it. You can argue that Moon Knight's energy shield might be able to block it since it has blocked lasers, but that relies on him blocking every single shot, as a single hit from Angel’s Wrath would incapacitate Moon Knight. It also helps that it is in character for Azrael to start a fight with Angel’s Wrath when he has it equipped, as he’s done so four separate times.

Though Moon Knight’s arsenal also does pose a lethal problem for the Angel of Death in just how potent it is. The Adamantium Crescent Darts have been capable of piercing characters far above Azrael's paygrade, such as the Incredible Hulk! He also has ways of bypassing Azrael's durability through unconventional means such as liquid nitrogen and Silver Capsules causing frostbite, along with various other weapons Moon Knight has that have harmed people above Azrael’s paygrade. This leads into a discussion on the System and how it can handle that wide array of weapons that is almost iconically associated with the term “Random Bullshit Go” in that Moon Knight meme. At first glance, with just how much Moon Knight has in terms of projectiles, wouldn’t he simply overwhelm Azrael with how much he’s throwing out?

That segues us into one of the most absurd bits of mental programming in fiction, The System. Its capabilities are detailed heavily in its own section, but how does it help Azrael with the onslaught Moon Knight is putting on him? Well for starters, the System's ability to calculate trajectories means that he’d be able to identify the trajectories of Moon Knight’s projectiles after a quick glance, especially with how fast the System has created plans and adapted Azrael's strategy on the fly. Add on the fact that Azrael can move through pure instinct and the System is capable of making Azrael automatically dodge, and you have arguments for Azrael instinctually weaving his way through Moon Knight’s attempts at projectile spam, or just flat-out catching all of Moon Knight’s Crescent Darts when taking into account the speed edge Azrael possesses.

It isn’t even out of the ordinary to argue Azrael would be able to catch Moon Knight’s projectiles, and is even supported with some notable feats in that level of accuracy. He’s caught knives without looking, grabbed tiny darts out of the air, cut projectiles out of the air such as spears, and countered an entire crowd's worth of bricks by counter striking or catching every single one. So between Azrael's ability to handle catching projectiles out of the air, his speed advantage, and the System’s perfect abilities to handle projectile spam, it’s not that difficult to argue that it’d be hard for Moon Knight's wide array of weapons to be able to land a critical blow. It doesn’t help that the crescent darts would actively need to land a fatal blow in order to kill Azrael, as while the Crescent Darts are capable of cutting through Azrael easily, a single Crescent Dart cutting Azrael's arm, leg or cheek wouldn’t immediately kill him.

In terms of general mobility meanwhile, this is where Moon Knight takes a solid edge. While both are able to glide thanks to the capes of their suit, Moon Knight takes the edge due to other ways his mobility can be used, such as him having intangibility and teleportation. Though to be fair to Azrael, Moon Knight has never utilized his intangibility or his teleportation in a combat scenario, he only has ever used intangibility to walk through a wall and his teleportation to simply visit and leave someone's side. It’d be awkward to base Moon Knight having a solid advantage on abilities he’s never used in a combat scenario, though he’s used his glider far more often than Azrael has, so in a similar vein, Moon Knight is far more likely to abuse his mobility. Moon Knight also has vehicles that grant him good mobility and additional weapons were he to use them. Though things like the Moonmobile, Mooncycle and Limousine wouldn’t be actively turning the tide, especially since he has statements of being able to outrun police cars, funnily enough. But then there’s Moon Knight's more potent vehicles, the Mooncopter and Angelwing, so let’s tackle these one at a time for how they affect the battle against Azrael.

Starting with the Mooncopter, it’s almost a Swiss army knife in how much heat it packs, from a giant net to twin 20mm rounds, along with radar, sonar, and infrared scanners. It has a lot of utility to it, good ways to handle Azrael's stealth and a decent bit of firepower to keep Azrael on his toes. We know it has autopilot, though we’ve never seen Moon Knight use the 20mm guns on it without someone piloting it, meaning that in order to use the Mooncopter offensively he’d have to actively be piloting it rather than fighting Azrael head on. Azrael’s suit has extremely good showings against gunfire already, meaning the gunfire wouldn’t realistically phase him that much, and add on Azrael's trajectory calculation and rockets, it wouldn’t be too hard for Azrael to simply shoot down the Mooncopter before it makes any form of lasting impact in the fight.

As for the Angelwing, this one is actively shown to have an autopilot that allows it to track down and even ram into Moon Knight’s opponents, swarms of crescent darts, a missile barrage and miniguns. and even be piloted by Moon Knight autonomously with its modes! That being said, it still falls victim to the fact that Azrael has the perfect tools to take down a large vehicle(after all, just look at how big the Angelwing is compared to Moon Knight!), add on trajectory calculation and the rockets like mentioned before, and the Angelwing reasonably wouldn’t get the chance to stay in the fight long enough to make a noticeable impact, especially since we know Moon Knight needs to verbally activate its arsenal.

Q: Could Moon Knight negate Azrael's powers thanks to one of his methods of Power Null? The Power of Crazy, the Power Dampening Agent, or the Ankhs?

A: For starters, the Power of Crazy likely isn’t actually power nullification when looking into the context. It makes the Sun King lose his powers, but when looking into the context it’s far more likely he shook the Sun King's belief in Ra, which made him lose his powers. The Power-Dampening agent is also an interesting argument, however, though it’s more speculative based on the fact it’s described to explicitly work on mutants. But the bare minimum, neither have a reason to affect Azrael's connection to the System thanks to it being a part of his mind, or his physical abilities due to the fact they’re spliced genetics, not from a god's power or mutant DNA.

Finally, the Ankhs, while at a glance they seem the most blatant and potent to just drain Azrael of his strength and maybe even life force, this does have a problem with it, notably that the Ankhs didn’t work on Black Panther. Now this isn’t Black Panther resisting, it’s stated that Marc was unable to drain him due to the fact that T’Challa’s power is in his own words, “in his blood”, meaning that the Ankh isn’t capable of draining someone's power when it's part of their genetics.

For comparison, Azrael’s powers come from the mental programming of the System being implanted into him and physical augmentation at birth that noticeably spliced his genetics. The Ankhs have also only ever affected supernatural sources of power such as Iron Fist’s chi, Dr. Strange's magic, and the Spirit of Vengeance, rather than just draining people's life force explicitly, and it becomes difficult to imagine that the Ankhs would actively drain Azrael at all. And even if it did have the capability to drain life forces, Moon Knight has only ever used them to target powers, so it wouldn’t be in character for him to just try to drain his opponents' life force.

Q: Why don’t things like Set’s Bracelet or the Antarctic Frequency Pulse make this a solid Moon Knight victory? Azrael doesn’t seem to have much counter to them?

A: Set’s Bracelet would be capable of potentially removing Azrael from the battlefield, unable to return. Though, this comes at the conundrum that Moon Knight has never used Set’s Bracelet to forcefully remove a person from the fight and has only ever used it to teleport himself and allies away from danger, making it questionable if he’d think to use Set’s Bracelet that way. Even still, it requires Moon Knight to be in close proximity, meaning he’d be at risk of being overwhelmed by Azrael's physical superiority. At worst, the System’s precognition would at least give Azrael a heads up to not let Moon Knight approach even if Moon Knight were to decide to make that his plan.

As for the Antarctic Vibranium Pulse, while it could destroy a decent portion of Azrael’s arsenal, what needs to be noted is that Moon Knight has only ever deployed it in a combat scenario a single time. Moon Knight has a massive arsenal of all sorts of weapons he could pull out, so him deciding to use the Antarctic Vibranium Pulse over any of his other weapons, which at minimum is around 30+ separate options not taking into account calling vehicles, summons or using a more defensive ability or piece of equipment, and it flat out isn’t likely for Moon Knight to pull out the Antarctic Vibranium Pulse early, if at all before he gets overwhelmed by Azrael.

This isn’t arguing that Moon Knight wouldn’t inevitably use the Antarctic Vibranium pulse if the fight were to drag on, but a point to be made is that both characters are not going to be acting 100% optimally in this fight. While Death Battle may remove morals about killing, it doesn’t take away from the fact they still act like how they are supposed to (see: Rocket being not as level-headed, Discord being more carefree than Bill, and so on in Death Battle’s analysis). In Moon Knight’s case, the point that Team Azrael argues is that Moon Knight isn’t likely to start out with the Antarctic Vibranium Pulse, or even use it for the beginning phase of the battle, as in-character with how he’s approached fights across his history, he’s more likely to start out with fisticuffs or using the Crescent Darts rather than using the Antarctic Vibranium Pulse.

Even if he did, it wouldn’t take away the System (being mental programming that is a part of Azrael's mind) or melt the main Azrael suit (which is noted to be made of kevlar, rather than metal). Meaning that Azrael wouldn’t be completely helpless, especially when he still has his physical superiority and the System to stand a chance against Moon Knight. It would be more difficult, but far from impossible even if Moon Knight got the chance to use the Antimetal Pulse. Similarly, thanks to the System’s precognition and trajectory calculation, you can argue that with Azrael's raw amount of batarangs, he could simply shoot the truncheon off course if it were to come close regardless, and while Moon Knight can call the truncheon back to him, it doesn’t stop the fact that Azrael could keep it at bay even if Moon Knight were to try to use it.

Q: What about the Mummy Army? Didn’t they overwhelm Dr. Strange and put pressure on Iron Man and Captain Marvel?

A: This is grossly out of context when looking into the instances of the mummy army. During the Reign of Khonshu event, the mummy army is obliterated in swarms by Captain Marvel, Iron Man and She-Hulk on separate occasions, and even street-tier level characters such as Captain America and Blade were able to fend them off without much if any struggle when the mummies are in fairly large groups. So it’d be a huge outlier for them to be putting pressure on Dr. Strange. Even still, looking at the instance of them attacking Dr. Strange, he actively calls them idiotic for having attacked him in his own home, and him ‘sweating’ due to the assault is more likely in context to be him sweating at Moon Knight’s voice, and being concerned that Moon Knight had lost his mind again as Strange himself said.

So with this in mind, Azrael just has a large amount of firepower that could allow him to tear through the mummy army in droves, things like flamethrowers, grenades that can cover whole caves, rockets, and two thousand batarangs he can fire at full auto speeds. Add on his reasonable stat advantage and it’s unlikely Moon Knight's massive army would even slow Azrael down for a second, especially considering how well Azrael fairs against large groups of enemies.

Q: How does Azrael get around the Carbonadium Armor? It’s compared to Adamantium by Moon Knight himself!

A: A good question! Moon Knight's best armor is made out of Carbonadium, and it’s consistent in both the metal being high tier in-verse, and Moon Knight's armor being able to withstand attacks from the likes of Vermin thanks to his armor, which would be above Azrael's level of strength. So how does Azrael get around the armor?

The answer is shockingly simple, to punch him in the face, over, and over.

For a more detailed answer, it is explicitly shown that Moon Knight’s Carbonadium armor isn’t covering his full body, as shown by when he locks the armor up in order to hold up a building while he fights off zombies, to quote, “Gotta lock my armor at the joints, let the Carbonadium bear the weight”. We then see him fighting the zombies with only his mask on, outright all but saying that the Carbonadium armor doesn’t cover his face. Add on the System’s info analysis, the Batman AI based on Batman's positive qualities, and the Suit of Sorrows AI’s precision, and it realistically wouldn’t take that long for Arzael to know he needs to simply aim to plant his fist in the Fist of Khonshu’s face.

Q: How does Azrael put Moon Knight down, can’t he just resurrect until he gets a lucky shot on Azrael?

A: A good question again! Moon Knight’s ability to come back from the dead is one of Moon Knight’s biggest strengths throughout this entire fight, and while it isn’t one hundred percent certain if Khonshu would instantly resurrect Marc without missing a beat, it’s likely still a short timeframe and thus would mean Azrael would need to find a way to bypass Moon Knight’s resurrection, so what is Azrael's solution?

The answer to this one is more of a focus on the limits we’ve seen for Moon Knight's resurrection, and seeing if Azrael has the means to bypass them. We’ve seen Khonshu bring Moon Knight back from the dead after he was stabbed and drowned. But we can’t reasonably assume Khonshu can resurrect Marc from more than the damage we’ve seen Khonshu resurrect him from. So it’d be an unfound assumption that Khonshu would be able to bring Moon Knight back from something like, say, being decapitated or having his head destroyed. Adding on how Azrael is already inclined to go for the face, the fact that we’ve seen him pull an Omni-Man on his opponent’s head, and his sharp weapons like his main weapon (the giant flaming sword) and his two wrist swords, and it wouldn’t be difficult for Azrael to remove Moon Knight’s head from the equation, putting him down for good.

Q: But what about Khonshu?

A: The big one of this section, Khonshu is a force to be reckoned with and provides Moon Knight with a multitude of utility. From healing to protecting Moon Knight's mind to relaying information to Moon Knight to possibly being able to outright possess Jean if he were to be put at death's door, to several other notable abilities. Khonshu is one of Moon Knight's greatest advantages even when restricted to being an aid and not a fighter. That being said, a notable portion of what the God of Moons brings to a fight aren’t things The Angel of Death can’t overcome.

For starters, Khonshu’s ability to heal Marc wouldn’t end up mattering if Azrael were to simply destroy Marc's head as we’ve established earlier, as we’ve never seen Khonshu bring back Moon Knight from that level of damage. Similarly, while it isn’t on the same level, the System's ability to memorize info at a glance, its minor precognition and the System's ability to take control of Azrael to make him dodge attacks means that Azrael is not the only fighter who’s being constantly relayed information.

As for being possessed near death, that leaves the question on if Moon Knight would be able to get Azrael to death's door to begin with, and as we’ve established before between Azrael's notable stat advantage, his perfect abilities to dodge Moon Knight’s range spam, and his counters to Moon Knight’s summons and vehicles, it puts into question if Moon Knight would be capable of getting Azrael to death's door to begin with for Khonshu to even possess.

Of course, there’s also the question of if Khonshu would do a lot of these to begin with? While Moon Knight and Khonshu are allies, Khonshu has let Moon Knight go through entire fights(even ones he’s on the losing end of by a drastic margin) without interfering numerous times in the past, and has even ignored Moon Knight's call for aid in the past, such as the beginning of the 2006 run. This isn’t to say that Khonshu wouldn’t aid Marc at all, but basing Moon Knight's victory on the advantages Khonshu provides isn’t 100% reliable. It’s a notable factor but Khonshu alone with his inconsistency shouldn’t sway the tides to Moon Knights favor.

With all of this in mind, Azrael counters or has ways around the vast majority of Moon Knight’s options, from having the perfect abilities to counter Moon Knight’s range spam, to having the right equipment to take down Moon Knight’s vehicles and summons, along with having equipment that Moon Knight simply has no reliable counter to such as Angel’s Wrath, knockout Gas or, weirdly enough, ranged flashbangs. Add on the information and precision Azrael's aids give him meaning he’d be able to figure out how to bypass Moon Knight’s armor by simply targeting his face, and destroy his head in order to negate his resurrection.

Tertiary Factors

Moon Knight and Azrael are both skilled fighters with a good amount of experience who can push themselves through excruciating circumstances. At first glance you wouldn’t be wrong to assume that this could be a category that Moon Knight could solidly take the advantage in, but the more that you look into it, the more it becomes apparent that Azrael takes the advantage in almost every tertiary factor.

Moon Knight and Azrael are fairly intelligent in their own rights, though both in different ways. Moon Knight is shown to be more cunning in abusing any weaknesses he finds in his opponents, while Azrael's more scientifically smart with his feats of neutralizing the universal dissolvant and with help from the System making progress on making a Motherbox. Both are similarly capable of figuring out issues in a room at a glance with Moon Knight solving crimes with a glance and Azrael only needing a glance at a room to identify where a bomb is likely hiding. Outside of Moon Knight being more cunning and Azrael being more scientifically adept, these two go blow for blow in terms of their smarts, with neither having a distinct edge.

In terms of experience, it’s fairly clear-cut that Azrael has a lot more experience at his disposal. Moon Knight has fought in wars, revolutions and has fought a wide variety of foes during his time as the Moon Knight once he became the fist of Khonshu, but that amount of experience pales in comparison to the 800+ years worth of experience that Azrael has thanks to the memories of the previous Azrael’s being within him, and even Jean himself has fought a fairly wide variety of highly skilled foes with different abilities to match Marc’s own experience as the Moon Knight. The raw experience the System gives Azrael gives him a distinct and clear advantage in this category.

Skill is more debatable. Moon Knight is stated to be a versatile practitioner of every martial art, while Nightwing states that Azrael is his equal in knowledge when referring to if he can beat Azrael in a fight, and Nightwing knows all martial arts. Both also have been complimented in terms of their raw skill as well. Moon Knight was acknowledged as skilled by Shang Chi, though Azrael was described as having martial prowess by Ra Al Ghul that he’s only seen once before, and has performed moves that Ra thought previously impossible, so Azrael's statements by other characters are a bit more impressive. There’s also one of Azrael's most impressive skill feats in him beating the Black Protocol, something that according to Batwing, was designed by Batman in order to stump himself. While Azrael has far more impressive feats in terms of pure skill, it isn’t exactly a huge skillstomp in his favor so far.

Though what leans this section into Azrael's edge however is the aid Azrael has at his disposal. For starters with the System, it’s stated that the instincts of ‘centuries’ flow through him, likely referring to the previous Azraels. As we know, the System contains the memories of all the previous Azraels, which would include all their training, as shown by Batman outright noting how abruptly new skills are becoming available to Azrael early on in his story. There’s also the system allowing Azrael to fight through pure instinct and adapting Azrael's strategy on the fly and creating plans on the fly, all of which would enhance Azrael's already potent skill in combat to a higher degree now that Azrael has made peace with the System and they are working in unison as of Sword of Azrael

Meanwhile, the Suit of Sorrows AI is described as the AI and Azrael working in a perfect symbiosis by the end of the run where Azrael uses it, and interacts with Azrael's nervous system in order to allow him to strike perfect blows, which enhances the argument for Azrael's precision in CQC allowing him to get a fatal blow on Moon Knight, and makes Azrael in CQC far more deadly for Moon Knight then vice versa.

Q: What about Hunter Moon! He has the experience and skill of every Moon Knight, and Marc beat him so he should be as skilled right?

A: First, this is ignoring the fact that beating someone in a fight doesn’t automatically make you more skilled than them as a lot of factors can be taken into account for a fight. Assuming Moon Knight is as skilled as Hunter Moon solely because they fought is disingenuous as an argument, though that isn’t the only issue with this.

When looking at the instance, there isn’t really a showing of Moon Knight actively matching Hunter Moon in skill, he wins the fight by sneaking up on Hunter Moon while he’s distracted and beating his head in with a wooden bat. In a straight up fight as shown earlier, Hunter Moon only ever gets hit when he’s caught off guard by Moon Knight's accusations towards him and his confusion over how Moon Knight fights. When Hunter Moon is not distracted, he easily counters Moon Knight’s attacks throughout the fight. Hunter Moon even actively comments on the difference in skill between them and how Moon Knight fights like a wild animal in comparison to him.

Q: Okay, but what about him fighting Shadowland Daredevil, Shang Chi considers him the master of Kung Fu!

A: This goes into a similar vein about how you can’t inherently scale characters to the people who they fight in skill, as just because Moon Knight fought Shadowland Daredevil at all doesn’t mean he’s in the same league of skill as him. Even still looking at their brief fight, Moon Knight only lands a single shot, and Shadowland Daredevil is shown to be beating Moon Knight to a pulp without him being able to fight back outside of that single shot. There’s nothing to imply Moon Knight is even remotely comparable in skill outside of the fact he fought Shadowland Daredevil at all.

In terms of how far both can push themselves, both Moon Knight and Azrael have some extreme feats of endurance and pain tolerance when it comes to what they’ve had to fight their way through. But comparing their instances side by side, Azrael both has more and greater instances of exertion despite difficult circumstances. Some of Moon Knight’s best endurance feats include him withstanding 5 hours of psychic torture at the hand of Morpheus and the almost frankly absurd instance of him fighting a rabid dolphin after not being fed for vaguely two weeks (the narration notes it’s sometime in the second week, so it could be 8 days, or just as easily 14), which are both really impressive.

But in comparison, Azrael’s endurance feats are far more explicit and physically taxing on his body despite him still going. From him carrying a full grown man over his shoulders for five miles after having been hit by a car and left unconscious almost covered in snow in freezing weather, to beating down a group of thugs after having been prodded, poked, beaten, drugged hard enough he was having constant black outs, and not eating for days, to dragging and overpowering the Angel Satan after having been stand-rushed and had the Angel Satan’s giant wheel slammed onto his body over and over enough to create a crater underneath him. Simply put, Azrael’s higher endurance feats are greater in number and greater in how far Azrael had to push himself during those feats then Moon Knight’s own.

Q: But isn’t Moon Knight described as unable to feel pain?

A: Moon Knight describes himself as ‘nearly there’ on how close he is to his ‘borderline psychotic’ nature allowing him to not feel pain. As even in that scan alone Moon Knight's reaction (The “Mmmm”) shows he is still capable of feeling pain, which while impressive, doesn’t mean Moon Knight's pain tolerance is better than Azrael’s when comparing their endurance feats. Though, funnily enough if either were simply unable to feel pain, it would be Azrael as the system is capable of flat out blocking his pain.

In terms of how much stamina these two have, it’s fairly clear to see that Azrael takes the edge, while Moon Knight lasted four days within the House of Shadows without any sleep, Azrael has gone the same length without sleep. The difference in these instances is that Azrael was actively having to exert himself constantly fighting off groups of thugs, as Azrael himself notes, the fight he has is the fourth one that night alone. So the difference would be that Azrael was actively exerting himself and acting at a normal level of performance, while Moon Knight was actively at his limit with the House of Shadows feat, showing that Azrael would have the edge based on how both were after four days without sleep. Though to be fair to Moon Knight, this fight likely wouldn’t last days, if even hours due to how likely it is for Azrael to put Moon Knight down or vice versa before the sun even comes up.

Of course, with one being “Marvel's Batman” and the other having BEEN Batman, it’s only fair to look over how both fare in terms if it were to come down to a stealth battle between them, which surprisingly goes fairly even! Both Moon Knight and Azrael have stealthed around people with extremely enhanced senses such as Daredevil and Superman respectively, and while Superman's senses are better than Daredevils, stealthing around Daredevil still means Azrael would struggle to locate Moon Knight if he were to sneak away, and the same can be said for vice versa if Azrael were to commit to stealth.

While Azrael's suits have night vision, infrared and the ability to enhance Azrael's own vision, there’s not much he could do to locate Moon Knight if the Fist of Khonshu were to try to stealth away. Though similarly, Moon Knight doesn’t have a 100% foolproof method of tracking down Azrael either, his trackers would require him to have actively managed to implant them into Azrael which is unlikely to happen, and while one of Moon Knight’s ankhs can glow in response to danger, that wouldn’t really help Moon Knight figure out where Azrael is, just that Azrael is going for a sneak attack. Where at least Azrael's ability to fight on pure instinct, the System allowing Azrael to autododge, and the light precognition of the system means that Azrael would at least have a chance to handle Moon Knight going for a sneak attack if nothing else.

So while Azrael and Moon Knight match in stealth and smarts, it’s fairly clear that Azrael takes the edge in experience, endurance, stamina, and skill by a wide enough margin.

Conclusion

"Let me tell you why you want to go away. There's someone inside me who wants nothing more - nothing in the world more - than to tear you apart and spit on the pieces."

Advantages:

  • Notably stronger and faster, with or without crossover scaling.

  • Better endurance, stamina, and pain tolerance

  • Comparable in intelligence.

  • More skilled and experienced

  • Angel’s Wrath could incapacitate Moon Knight with a single shot, and is something he’s used at the start of the fight.

  • Trajectory calculation and skill at catching projectiles means he could counter Moon Knight’s ranged options like the Crescent Darts

  • AOE can wipe out Moon Knight’s summons

  • Powers can’t be nullified by Moon Knight

  • Rockets and Batarangs can take down Moon Knight’s vehicles

  • If it came down to it, he possesses better stealth skills and ways to counter a sneak attack.

  • Sword of Azrael 2022

  • Looks cooler

Disadvantages:

  • Not as versatile

  • Less mobile

  • Moon Knight’s stronger weapons could kill him

  • Moon Knight’s Carbonadium Armor is more durable than anything Azrael has damaged

  • Azrael might have to kill Moon Knight multiple times

  • The Antarctic Vibranium Pulse could hinder Azrael's arsenal heavily if used.

  • Wrath of God is hard-countered

  • Khonshu can keep Moon Knight in the know and in the fight.

  • Bane has broken Batman so many times and yet they still haven’t adapted Knightfall.

  • This

This fight can go either way, but there’s simply more leaning towards Azrael's victory than vice versa the more you analyze the individual factors.

For starters, as long as you are fair to both Moon Knight and Azrael in terms of skepticism, Azrael is always going to have a very solid edge in physical superiority, as Moon Knight’s vague upscaling thanks to moon phases doesn’t match Azrael's layers of upscaling that would put him massively about Moon Knight in terms of strength. Even if you used the crossover, characters that by that logic Moon Knight would be on par with or vaguely upscaling would be on the same level as characters unable to hurt an exhausted Azrael, and regardless Azrael's speed upscaling is far more consistent and can be pushed further than anything Moon Knight has.

Azrael counters a large portion of Moon Knight's powers and equipment such as his terrifying presence, knock out gas, and flashbangs, and his various methods of nullifying Azrael’s power wouldn’t work either. Whereas by contrast Moon Knight has hardly any ways to counteract Angel’s Wrath and doesn’t have a direct way to handle Azrael's own knock-out gas, tranquilizers or flashbangs.

Moon Knight may have a numbers edge with his vehicles, mummies and werewolves. But Azrael has the AOE  and positive showings to handle Moon Knight's backup if he were to bring it to the fight. Similarly between Azrael's speed advantage, positive showings against catching projectiles and the System’s abilities, it would be a struggle for Moon Knight’s more dangerous weapons to land a lethal blow before he either gets overwhelmed or even runs out of ammo.

While Moon Knight may also have the numbers edge with his mummies, werewolves and ships, Azrael’s wide AOE with his grenades, rockets and flamethrowers means he can wipe out huge chunks of Moon Knight’s army without much difficulty, and the rockets Azrael has and the System’s trajectory calculation means he’d be able to easily shoot down the Mooncopter and Angelwing, leaving Moon Knight’s numbers edge unable to overwhelm Azrael.

While Moon Knight is more than willing to spam his ranged options and make “Random Bullshit Go” a genuine strategy and has some dangerous weapons in his arsenal, between Azrael's speed upscaling, good instances against catching projectiles when not looking, whether small or in large quantity, and the System having the perfect abilities to allow Azrael to avoid being overwhelmed by Moon Knight’s vast arsenal, Moon Knight would struggle to simply overwhelm Azrael by just throwing everything at him, and might even run out of ammo before he can possibly put Azrael down.

Moon Knight may have the Antarctic Vibranium pulse to melt a large portion of Azrael's gear, but he’s never used it at the start of a fight, and would likely not resort to it early on with just how massive his arsenal is. Similarly, tools like Set’s Bracelet or his Intangibility are options that Moon Knight has never used in a fight, making it questionable on if he’d even use them. It also doesn’t help that Angel’s Wrath is an even more dangerous ability in this fight then the Antarctic Vibranium Pulse, and Azrael has actively used it at the beginning of a fight in the past, multiple times, because Moon Knight would be incapacitated by Angels Wrath, while Azrael, while losing a large part of his gear, would only be hindered rather than become a sitting duck.

Moon Knight may have extremely durable armor and his resurrection could keep him in the fight if Azrael isn’t thorough, but those will only hold off the inevitable thanks to things such as the System and Suit of Sorrows allowing Azrael's precision and planning to actively abuse where Moon Knight’s carbonadium armor doesn’t protect, and his bladed weapons can allow him to simply decapitate Moon Knight. Similarly, while Khonshu is a potent aid, he isn’t reliably always going to be throwing everything he can to aid Marc due to how inconsistent he is at helping him, and most of the abilities he consistently provides Marc with are things Azrael can overcome.

Azrael and Moon Knight are equally smart with small edges going either way, both could likely get the jump on each other thanks to how potent their stealth skills are, but Azrael's endurance and stamina are far above anything Moon Knight has shown to be realistically capable of, and in terms of raw experience Azrael simply blows Moon Knight out of the water thanks to the 800+ years of experience the System gives him. While you can make the argument Azrael is only a bit more skilled, the aid the System gives in planning and the Suit of Sorrows precision aid just means that Azrael is likely a fair bit more skilled than Moon Knight, whereas Moon Knight doesn’t have any aids to allow him to push his skill that much further.

Overall, while this fight can go either way, Azrael’s superior physicality, multiple weapons that Moon Knight has no counter to, unyielding endurance and stamina, large arsenal, and the extremely versatile aid known as the System giving Azrael far more experience, aiding his already potent skill and giving Azrael the perfect abilities he needs to close the gap and cause Moon Knights-Fall. Once these two started fighting, MK was Marc’ed for death and was left as nothing but a Spector in Jean-Paul's wake to be Az-real. Sorry if you Khon-ssumed that this would be an easy Moon Knight victory, but it’s anything but.

Sorry folks, the puns probably got into the uncanny Valley huh?

The Winner is Jean-Paul Valley, Azrael, The Angel of Mercy.

  2. Wait why is Wolverine's nuke feat using the Airblast formula? Why is Deadpool's Krakkoa feat using the mushroom cloud and not the actual explosion as reference? (and also using the airblast formula)?

Granted, using groundblast would make Wolverine's feat just slightly higher at 38 kilotons instead of 22, it puts Deadpool's feat at 6 megatons possibly 13 depending on where you measure

    1. you can also use higher ends to get Azrael to similar levels of power https://docs.google.com/document/d/10D8ESFJL-HUEmlnbsWJQ8QV1FDAKKtuj_3993xzhnd8/mobilebasic

    3. Yeah, but that entire calculation is a bit wonky, Adam says it would take 20 hours to fall into the sun from a distance of 353700 kilometers (what they angsized as the distance between Adam and the sun), so the speed used is weird

    4. it is 100% a bit Wonky but calculating feats like this is always Hard and Weird so it can still be used as somewhat of a higher end , i just wanted to let you know in case you haven't seen it.

  4. Cool, very good blog and especially seeing that my goat Azrael won.
I just wish they mentioned Green Arrow and Roy Harper for the Batman part, I vaguely remember them both surviving 600 terawatt attacks and satellite explosions.
But this is absolutely a masterpiece, I had a lot of fun reading it.
