From the moment we learned to walk and run, humanity sought to push the limits of speed through any means possible. Athletes have honed their bodies to sprint great distances by themselves. Mechanics and scientists have developed many vehicles throughout the land, air and water to cross hundreds of miles within mere seconds. And then we have the creative mad lads who have made it their entire life’s goal to make characters whose purpose is to defy the laws of physics by simply doing the impossible with their two bare feet. Fiction’s played host to many speedsters, but only two of them embody that concept like no other. 


Wally West, the young successor to DC Comics’ Scarlet Speedster. Sonic the Hedgehog, Archie Comics’ alternate universe counterpart to Sega’s Blue Blur. Everyone’s favorite anthropomorphic wisecracker returns to Death Battle for his third episode, now armed with an entirely new continuity of frankly absurd feats and broken abilities, and he’ll certainly need them to face the third man fast enough to don the crimson cowl of the Flash. Both these combatants have broken every limit there is to speed, but when all of that and more is compared against each other, who’ll have enough in the tank to be the undisputed fastest being alive?


A Heads Up from Ya Bois

You’re probably wondering what the “Archie” means for Sonic there, huh? It’s for the medium designed for people who know how to read! (Sorry, Pit.)


In all seriousness, we’re gonna be taking the opposite approach to the last time Sonic got on the show in that we’re primarily focusing on his Archie Comics incarnation, which - as a reminder - was classified as being too different from Sonic’s original game version to the point where those two couldn’t be composited realistically. Probably has to do with the fact that aside from differing backstories, Archie Sonic is known for being several factors stronger and faster than OG Sonic, literally down to the point where he would’ve eaten Mario alive (here's a taster from the Mario/Sonic Q&A), if you wanna get a comparison for how that would’ve affected the last episode. 


When regarding Wally West, there are a couple of things that we must address.


Firstly, there are two Wally Wests - one is the classic Wally West who has taken up the position as the Flash, and the other “Wallace West” who is currently Kid Flash. Considering that both of these characters have different backstories and vary widely in terms of power, we will only be focusing on feats from the classic Wally West. Sorry Wallace!


Secondly, after the events of Heroes in Crisis, Wally has obtained an item called the Mobius Chair, which grants him quite a lot of power and is tied in the fact that he has recently gotten the powers of Doctor Manhattan. One of the big questions relating to this fight is will Wally Doctor Manhattan or the Mobius Chair be used in this blog? No. Everything points towards both things being extremely temporary (Wally is going to lose his Doctor Manhattan Powers soon) that will likely not stick around for any long period of time.


Thirdly, in terms of how we are going to composite Wally, we will be compositing feats from Pre-Crisis, Post-Crisis, Post-Flashpoint as well as his animated appearances. DC Rebirth made it pretty clear that the Wally West from Pre-Crisis/Post Crisis and the Wally from Post-Flashpoint are the same person, and thus can be composited together without much trouble. As for why we are using the animated series, well, he’s close enough to his comic counterpart. Also DCAU Wally West is just… the best.



Background

Wally West

“I am the Flash! The fastest man in the Multiverse. I belong on any Earth that needs me!”


Within the vastness of the DC Universe, there are many heroes that have chosen to take up a legacy once set by a previous hero. Kyle Rayner to Hal Jordan. Jaime Reyes to Ted Kord. Steel to Superman. Batman’s many, many, Robins. But among the scores of DC’s most famed legacies is that of the Scarlet Speedster, the Flash. First starting off with the hero Jay Garrick, he soon passed his mantle down to the brilliant scientist, Barry Allen. Barry Allen eventually chose a successor of his own and the man who would prove to the world that he was the fastest of the Fastest Men Alive. Wally West. 


Wally was the president of the Flash Fan Club and coincidentally the nephew of Iris West, the wife of Barry Allen. When he went to Central City to visit his aunt Iris, he had the opportunity to meet his idol The Flash. Wally and The Flash were talking at Barry Allen's lab on a rainy night where lightning struck the cabinet, bathing Wally in the exact same electrified chemicals that created the Flash. After that, Barry revealed his identity to Wally and told him that he couldn't tell anyone about it, Since that day Wally West became the first ever Kid Flash.


As Kid Flash, Wally served as the sidekick to his hero and mentor Barry, helping him save the day time and again, and even helping out as a member of the Justice League. However, these days of superheroics and a father-son relationship would soon end with one fateful moment. The death of Barry Allen.

After he sacrificed his life during the events of COIE, the seat of The Flash was now vacant. Wally was forced into the role his mentor held, now standing in his shadow as he was left to pick up the pieces and carry on Barry’s legacy. While at first Wally struggled with coming to terms with the death of his mentor and his fears of overshadowing him, the former sidekick turned superhero of his own eventually chose to step up, and showed the world at large just how worthy of the name “The Flash” he truly was.


But these are comic books, so things would get all kinds of complicated over time. In the meantime, things were going pretty well for Wally. He joined the Justice League of America and became one of Earth’s most recognizable heroes. He would even find a girlfriend, get married, and have children. So basically things were looking pretty well for Wally, his mentor Barry Allen even returned during the events of Final Crisis. However, everything would change when the company wide reboot attacked. 


In the New 52, Wally West was nowhere to be seen until DC Rebirth where he returned from the Speed Force and met his old mentor again. However, this return was a bittersweet one as Wally had lost his wife and children considering Wally’s children didn’t live in this new rebooted universe and his wife didn’t recognize him. This would prove extremely traumatic for Wally and he was sent to a rehabilitation centre called Sanctuary where... *sigh* the events of Heroes in Crisis took place. (expect a lot of complaining towards that event). After Wally accidentally murdered several metahumans in Sanctuary - he was eventually whisked away by the cosmic god Tempus Fuginaut to fight against the Dark Multiverse (long story). Despite everything Wally has gone through - being left out of DC Comics for years and suffering from extremely poor editorial interference - Wally West is still one of the greatest heroes in the DC Universe. 

Sonic the Hedgehog

“Dude, I've raced through more Zones, battleships and death traps than you can imagine. ‘Go fast’ is my answer to everything!”


We all know who Sonic the Hedgehog is, the Japanese Sega mascot in the 90's who had the mission to free all the animals from the mad scientist Dr. Robotnik. Or, uh, Dr. Eggman, depends who you ask. But because the story of the game and the characters were very basic, when he was exported to the U.S he was given various backstories in different media, with new worlds, new characters and a lot of other things that were never introduced in the games. Thus, the Archie series foretold their version of the blue blur, ultimately becoming the most popular counterpart of the fastest thing alive. 


His story is mostly similar to SAT’s version, but foretold more in detail and depth that the show did not tell. Sonic was born as Maurice Hedgehog and was born on Mobius Prime. And yes, Maurice is Sonic’s real name. The Great War was near its end in the battle between the Mobians, humanoid beings in forms of animals, and the Overlanders, mutated humans. Thanks to the Kingdom of Acorn leading King Maximillian Acorn and his trusted allies, he was able to defeat the Overlanders and end the war… but sadly it was short-lived. Unaware that his second warlord and loyal Julivian Kintobor, or Dr. Ivo Robotink, would betray them with time and patience to begin his robotic conquest. Defenseless and overpowered by the hordes of Ivo’s army, King Acorn was able to evaluate a large number of the children to the Knothole Village for sanctuary, with Sonic being one of them. 


The First Robotnik War began with Robotnik taking Sonic’s home and slowly conquering the world of Mobius, and brought the inspirational birth of The Freedom Fighters that Sonic helped. The result of their long battle brought the Mutiverse many more wars and battles to come that made Sonic the true Prime pivotal hero of all realities, time, and space. 


Sonic led his freedom fighting army into battle against the cybernetic warriors of Robotnik. His speed, courage, and can-do attitude inspired everybody around him. With his friends by his side, he would never lose the fight to Robotnik. 


Sonic has been through a lot, including a retcon of his series during a crossover with Archie Mega Man. It’s a long story, Point is, Sonic’s the same swift snarky mammal he always was, and will never stop running. 

Equipment

Flash

Speed Force Suit

Wally has been shown capable of molding speed force energy into physical constructs. Using this ability, he can create a custom suit made entirely out of the Speed Force. This Speed Force Suit is made of “pure Speed Force condensed into three dimensional space”. It is also self-repairing, so even if it gets damaged, it will automatically repair itself. Even if he is injured (like having broken legs) it can still keep Wally together. (basically a less painful version of Guts’s Berserker Armour) 


Johnny Quick Speed Formula

This formula was created by Johnny Quick (no not the Earth 3 counterpart of the Flash) aka Jonathan Chambers. This formula allowed Johnny Quick to access the power of the Speed Force (though more limited then the Flashes). 


If a Flash utters the formula of “3X2(9YZ) 4A.”, their connection to the speed force will be instantly boosted allowing Wally to speed himself up to the point that he will move faster than the energies of the Speed Force (which he did in order to save Linda). Wally using this formula becomes so fast that time itself completely stops (ZA WARUDO). He is also able to contend with characters that he previously had trouble with, like Zoom. (He was able to dodge an attack from Zoom despite Zoom existing in his own separate timeline)


Sonic

Super Shoes

Sonic’s iconic footwear isn’t just for flexing his shoe game. Since Sonic’s super-speed creates intense amounts of friction, he would constantly burn out the soles of his sneakers as a kid. So to fix the problem, good ol’ Uncle Chuck created a pair of shoes from Power Ring energy for his nephew, meaning that they’re hyper friction proof and won’t wear out no matter how much Sonic goes fast. It’s style and efficiency at the same time!


Power Rings

The iconic Power Rings are here too, formed in the shape of magical rings from the chaos emeralds. These rings have quite a lot of uses, as they all can grant nearly any range of abilities from the user like increasing Sonic's physical capabilities.


Here are some of the abilities the Power Rings can perform: 



The One Billionth Power Ring

Note: While there was no confirmed contexts in the main power of this special ring, there are a lot of debates and theories on its special powers and what those limits are. Which is why the following will be listing on the main theories based on sources we found to be reliable with these statements


After collecting his one billionth ring in an earlier flight with Robonik, Sonic was tested by the Ancient Walkers and passed the trial. But, after leaving their dimension, a contrast, invisible, active aura was noticed on Sonic and surrounded him at all times. This aura’s abilities include: 



  • Power and Magic Nullification: In his fight against Enerjak, who possessed Knuckles’ body, Sonic was not affected by Finitevus’ spell, which should nullify anyone's ability to utilize the Master Emerald's powers when he went Super Sonic. It was this spell that Finitevus used to not only control Knuckles, but also bring back Enerjak. While this feat for Sonic’s immunity was questioned due to a flashback from when Scourge was using it without Finitevus’s knowing, it confirms the feat by not only being a foreshadowing of what came, but also remembering that Scourge is still a version of Sonic...just evil. 



Chaos Emeralds

The famous Chaos Emeralds are here too, and like their game counterparts, they are magical gemstones that contain great power but unlike the games, these gems have an origin; They are the physical manifestations of the Chaos Force, more of that later. 


Although they've been depicted in a variety of colors and quantities, the Archie version had thousands of these emeralds across the universe, but then the events of Mogul killing the Ancient Walkers who ruled the zone of silence happened. In the aftermath,  this panda badger named Feist became the new ruler of what is now called the Special Zone and made big changes, mostly combining all of the chaos emeralds to make seven total. From that point on, the seven distinct emeralds are: peridot (green), aquamarine (cyan), sapphire (blue), ruby (red), amethyst (purple), topaz (yellow) and diamond (gray).


Chaos Emeralds are consistently stated to have infinite/limitless power. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14

Super Emeralds

The Super Emeralds are basically the Chaos Emeralds, but with a power up. They have the same abilities as the Chaos Emerald, but amped up. It’s such a power boost that one Super Emerald alone can allow Sonic to transform into his super forms, but more on that later. While we have never seen Sonic use all seven of the Super Emeralds, we do know they bring unlimited power to the user. An example of this would be Perfect Chaos after he consumed all seven of the Super Emeralds, which put up a tough battle against Super Sonic.

The Speed Force


Basically, you know the multiverse?



The Speed Force is the red barrier and it acts as one large energy field that surrounds the entire multiverse and it separates the multiverse from the Sphere of the Gods. In terms of what its function is, it supplies everything with kinetic energy. If the Speed Force collapsed, nothing would be moving forward. In terms of how this affects Wally West - this is the source of his powers. Every time he runs fast or uses any ability relating to speed, he can tap into the Speed Force and use its energy. Luckily, for speedsters - the Speed Force has infinite energy, due to this, Wally can’t ever run out. 


Wally is also one of the most skilled speedsters at using Speed Force energy and he can tap into the Speed Force to the point that in current comic continuity - Wally can enter the Speed Force freely without the fear of forever being trapped in the speed force (which most speedsters don’t have the capability of doing). His expert use of the Speed Force is to the point that at one point he actually was able to completely control the Speed Force to his will - despite it being a massively large energy field that surrounds the entire multiverse. It also grants him a whole host of abilities and powers that he can use at any time. 


Note: While the grander DC cosmology is somewhat inconsistent, Grant Morrison and Scott Snyder have attempted a reunification of the cosmology in recent years. This has led to DC embracing the concept of higher spatial dimensions and the notion that they are qualitatively superior in existence to lower ones. 


In this case, the Speed Force is shown to exist above the Bleed, which itself is equated to being a 5th dimensional construct in Multiversity (The fluid the order of worlds rotates through). Bleed space is both noted as being higher dimensional (requiring specially modified ship to access) and as the “bulk” encompassing all universes (Of which there are infinite)


The speed force encompasses the fifth dimensional bleed, acting as a “super dimensional” envelope. It is called “extra dimensional”.


Speed Force Abilities

Speed Force Lightning

Based on the reaction between Wally channeling the Speed Force and his own muscles as he moves, Wally can generate lightning. This lightning has changed a lot throughout the years with Flash Forward recently revealing that Flash’s lightning is his hope materialized. In terms of what he can do with this lightning, he can repel enemies such as Shadow Beasts. Wally is also capable of absorbing other lightning and redirecting back at the enemy. The lighting can also be fired out as a massive electrical discharge, hurting anyone that comes into contact with it...thanks Heroes in Crisis (ugghhhh)


Speed Force Aura

Wally passively generates a Speed Force aura around himself (kinda like Aura in RWBY). This Speed Force Aura is to prevent Wally from hurting himself when he runs at faster than light speeds. It acts as a semi-force field that absorbs blows as well as protects himself from falling objects such as glass. It also makes him completely invulnerable to heat even when vibrating at high speeds. Additionally, the reason why speedsters can talk to each other at high-speeds is due to their auras.

Speed-Related Abilities

Super Speed

Obviously, Wally’s main ability as the Flash is running REALLY fast. Wally has been called “the fastest being in the multiverse” by Tempus Fuginaut, and for pretty good reason as he is most assuredly the fastest Flash. He didn’t start out that way as Kid Flash. While he was definitely fast, he wasn’t quite up to speed (heh) with his mentor Barry Allen. Over time, he got faster and faster to the point that he surpassed his mentor and then some to the point that he ran to the end of the universe where death wasn’t even a concept. Of course, this isn’t everything Wally can do in terms of speed - as we will go into more detail regarding Wally’s speed in the Feats section. 


Afterimages

Wally is capable of moving fast enough to create afterimages. By doing this, he can confuse his opponents into making them think there are multiple Flashes at once but in actuality - it’s just one really fast boi.

Speed Healing

A side effect of the sheer speed that Wally has while under the power of the Speed Force, his metabolism functions at an incredibly fast rate, allowing him to heal himself far faster than a normal person would. Furthermore, as shown in his fight against Cheetah, he can heal faster the more speed he steals from his opponent. He can also use Speed Healing to heal other people as shown when he healed Nightwing after he got impaled.


Speed Lending

Wally can give his speed to other people or objects - this will increase their speed, making them faster. Wally can do this to his allies - such as the other Flashes and the Justice League. This can be done to aid others or trip them up, making them move faster than they had anticipated and causing them to crash. However, due to Wally giving his own speed to others, Wally will naturally not be as fast as he was before giving the speed. 


Speed Steal

Wally’s signature ability, and arguably his most dangerous. Wally does exactly what the name implies by robbing his target of their speed. This can be applied in several different ways. He can amp up his already ludicrous speeds up to even grander levels, being able to outpace literal teleportation, slow down the metabolic processes of others to stop bleeding, grant super speed to others temporarily, slow down falling objects, or, if he’s feeling really cruel, slow down a victim’s body to the point where it takes them an entire century to blink. Super speed, man. It don’t fuck around.


Vortexes

Wally can create vortexes by spinning his arms extremely fast or running around in a circle. Wally’s vortexes can be several buildings tall if he is going all out such as his fight against Inertia. In the Justice League Unlimited Animated Series, he can point his arms directly to the ground and rotate them, keeping him from crashing into the ground.


Speed Mode

Speed Mode is basically Wally’s perception of time around him, it can be shifted on and off when Wally chooses (because if it was always on - Wally would basically be living in slow motion). He’ll usually activate this ability when he’s in danger in order to figure out the best course of action such as when he is about to be shot. Speed Mode also makes it impossible for someone to sneak attack him. Plus, Speed Mode allows him to think at a much faster rate - doing hundreds of calculations in his head within a few seconds. 

Vibrational Manipulation

(Not like that, you perverts.)


Via forcing his molecules to vibrate at a certain frequency, Wally can achieve several different unique effects. He can also use these powers on his foes, though the results can be… messy. He has various abilities relating to him vibrating his molecules:


Infinite Mass Punch

Wally’s single strongest attack, the Infinite Mass Punch is an extremely powerful technique that can hit with the force of a white dwarf star. Basically in terms of how it works - Wally will vibrate his fist  to just under the speed of light and then hit the opponent.During his fight against a white martian - he once punched a White Martian from Mt. Rushmore to Africa.

Intangibility

By moving his molecules at the right frequency, Wally can move through solid matter with no problem. This ability can be used both defensively and offensively, depending on the situation. He can use it to phase through most attacks that could kill him, or to attack an opponent via stealing their organs. He can also use this against other foes that can phase through objects, making the intangible tangible. A side effect of Wally’s ability to phase through objects, if he’s not careful, he can destabilize any object that he passes through, causing the unfortunate victim to spontaneously combust.


Invisibility

By vibrating fast enough, Wally can turn himself invisible to the naked eye


Light Clones

A trick that Barry’s shown to be capable of doing, by vibrating at just the right frequency, Wally can create clones of himself made of light particles. No. This makes no sense at all. Did you expect otherwise from a Speed Force user?


Molecular Manipulation

(…do I even need to give a funny caption this time?)


No. You are not seeing this wrong. That just happened. Flash literally rebuilt himself from being atomized… 0_0. And before you ask. No. This is not a one-time thing. The Flashes have pulled this off multiple times. Barry Allen once melted himself down after Mirror Master turned him into… well a mirror, and then restructured himself. Barry also managed to reform his body from actual water vapor. Wally has the same abilities.

Sonic

Super Speed

Seriously, how does that work?


Sonic’s trademark ability is of course his speed with Sonic being one of the fastest beings in his universe. He can use this ability to easily dodge lightning but also stay dry between raindrops (as shown above) but his most impressive feat is outrunning time in order to save Mobius. His speed also increases a thousand fold once he becomes Super Sonic, capable of doing the impossible. 

Spin Dash

Sonic’s most iconic move, he rolls himself into a ball to rev up and dashes forward at high speed towards any target. He can charge this attack for as long as he wants for a more powerful dash attack, or use it to increase his travel at high speed. There are also variants of this iconic move:


Homing Attack

This is another classic move Sonic loves to perform. It is his main combo chain attack. He basically can lock onto any foe he wants to target and lanches directly at him in mid air. Mostly like a heat seeking missile. He can always then use that force to bounce off of that foe and move on to the next one until he stops. 


Super Peel Out

For this technique, Sonic runs in place at rapid speed, then lets loose to take off with incredible acceleration. This is probably his best technique for building up speed. 


Whirlwinds

  

Sonic can use his speed to create whirlwinds and tornadoes. They can be used to blow away enemies as well as remove the oxygen in the air, making it difficult to breathe. The technique could also be used to snuff out fire, as seen when he used it against Blaze. 


Boost

This technique allows Sonic to ram into enemies at top speed while coated in a blue aura around him.


Phasing

Sonic can vibrate his molecules fast enough to pass through just about anything solid. However, he does state that this technique is dangerous.


Pressure Point Combat

Sonic can target pressure points at rapid speeds, numbing his opponents. 


Chaos Force

 

So before it became non-canon after the events of the first Megaman crossover, and Ian Flynn axed it, there was the Chaos Force. The Chaos Force is the embodiment of a mystical energy of all-encompassing energy of the universe. It is this special energy that gives power in two ways: a link to the Chaos force itself (like Knuckles up above dyed green), or a link to a magical object associated with the Chaos Force. The main examples of magical objects for Sonic are the Chaos Emeralds and his Power Rings


When linked, they can give unlimited power through many methods depending on the user. It is safe to say that in theory because of this powerful energy the Chaos Force is overall a 5D/Fifth Dimensional plane of existence. In other words, it can always affect all universities and realities lower than its own. Think of it as playing the card game War, where the highest card can destroy the lowest card every time. Scourge The Hedgehog, the Sol Emeralds, and the events on Mobius are the best examples of why the Chaos Force overall is a powerful one to control.


Super Sonic

By harnessing the power of seven Chaos Emeralds or just that of one Super Emerald, Sonic can achieve his Super form. Not only does it come with a massive boost to his physical attributes, even stated that he becomes a thousand times faster, he gains a myriad of mind-boggling abilities. Additionally, the time limit seems to be more impressive than his video game counterpart’s, as shown when he battled Enerjak from day to night.


Chaos Control

Chaos Control is by far the most potent ability in Super Sonic’s arsenal. It basically allows Sonic to manipulate space and time. One of the most significant powers that Super Sonic grants Sonic is the ability to teleport between dimensions (which Shadow did). It can also be used to completely rewind time. Chaos Control is so powerful that it can counteract the Super Genesis Wave. The Super Genesis Wave is a reality-breaking strong enough that it can completely erase the Archie Sonic and Mega Man multiverses along with the Chaos Force. These multiverses are infinite. 


Energy Manipulation

Super Sonic can fire off energy beams and create shields, as seen during his fight against Perfect Chaos.


Ultra Sonic

Remember how we stated that the One Billionth Ring had matter manipulation, but said it was for later? This is why, as his One Billionth Power Ring gives Sonic his greatest form in his series: Ultra Sonic. Thanks to the aura that Sonic is surrounded by, Sonic is able to transform into this ability at any time once he has a large amount of Power Rings at his side, or with one Super Emerald. With this form, it has the similar qualities as Super Sonic where it increases his speed, strength, reflexes, flight, and virtual invulnerability. But, his greatest ability given as Ultra Sonic is the ability to control local atoms and their structure. While we never see what it can do to a living being, we do see him being able to manipulate non living matter like the time he turned air into water. He has also shown with one Super Emerald that Ultra Sonic can change its form based on the environment. The three forms only seen once included Solar Sonic (fire or sand), Polar Sonic (Ice), and Eco Sonic (Nature). He can even make portals to the Zone of Silence, like when he did it to Ixis


The full power to Ultra Sonic is still unknown as there were only three occasions where this form even showed up. It is probably Sonic's main triumph card, if not for one major flaw. It is a very short time limit, like the gaming version of Super Sonic time limit.

Heroes in Crisis. No, seriously. Heroes in Crisis can die in a fire. Tom King’s writing aside, Wally isn’t perfect, no matter how powerful he is. He’s rather famously cocky and arrogant, and can run into situations unprepared, leading him to getting into trouble. His power is also highly dependent on him being connected to the Speed Force, so if his foes can break that connection somehow, he’s going to be in a tight spot before he can reestablish it. Lastly, there are times when speedesters like Wally can lose control of the Speed Force as abusing too much of it can create serious consequences, like when he got trapped in the Speed Force.  

Sonic

We’d talk about Ken Penders here, but I don’t think the word count can support it. Still, a shame how one writer can take away nearly half of the characters from a beloved series. R.I.P. Archie. 


The Archie Comics version of Sonic has indeed shown to be the strongest of Sega’s Blue Blurs, but even the strongest are never invincible. Sonic has shown to be very cocky, arrogant, and a thrill-seeker when it comes to danger, which results in many unfortunate events from the fault of his brash attitude. Like the time Sonic stole Tail’s dream girl Fiona, only to betray them both for Scourge and bitch slapping Tails. Most of his powerful forms and his manipulation to time and reality-warping requires an external source of chaos energy (mostly all of his arsenal). Even his forms of Super Sonic and Ultra Sonic still have a time limit depending on the amount of chaos energy he has at the time. The most important flaw is how his aura from his 1 Billionth Ring is not infallible. The aura itself mostly acts on itself to prevent Sonic’s death and ensures victory no matter the price, which Sonic has mostly no control over. Sonic can still lose in his battles, as he can be K.O.’d or incapiatied.  


Also, his name is fucking Maurice. No wonder he gets written to be cucked so much.


Summary

The Flash

“As long as I have my loved ones around me, nothing much else matters. Honest. If I lost my powers tomorrow and they never came back, at least I could say... I had a great run.”


Advantages:

  • Superior to base Sonic

  • Using the maximum amount of energy from the Speed Force, is relative in power and durability to Super Sonic

  • Debatably faster as his immeasurable feats scale higher

  • Resists many of Sonic’s hax and shares some of the same abilities

  • Can reap many benefits from speed stealing

  • Can BFR Sonic into the Speed Force

  • Can we point out how Wally is probably one of the best things to come out of the DC Animated Universe? Because he absolutely is.

  • Ace Attorney

  • Superior dish-washer

  • Could possibly resist reality warping...


Disadvantages:

  • ...but also maybe not

  • When channeling finite amounts of energy from the Speed Force, is weaker than Sonic’s super forms

  • Speed stealing can be countered

  • No counters to Sonic’s 1 Billionth Power Ring

  • Ways to escape and are other methods to counter the Speed Force

  • Fate or probability hax could screw over his abilities if potent enough 

  • Heroes in Crisis

  • Damian Wayne 


Sonic the Hedgehog

“I do things the right way. I help others to do something bigger and better than just mean. The good guys always win in the long run. And there isn’t anybody who can run longer or better than I can.”


Advantages:

  • Super forms are, in most cases, superior to Wally in power and durability, or otherwise, allow him to match his best

  • Resists many of Flash’s hax and shares many of the same abilities

  • Can restore stolen speed

  • Reality warping could help him

  • One billionth power ring

  • If powerful enough, fate and probability hax could be of use

  • Sonic has ways to escape from the Speed Force   

  • Honestly tended to be a bright spot when the games weren’t too hot

  • Ian Flynn


Disadvantages:

  • Potentially slower although not by much

  • Base form is outclassed

  • Inferior vibrational manipulation

  • Couldn’t outrun cancellation

  • His name is Maurice. Fucking Maurice.
