Death Battle Predictions: Arceus VS Aslan

Arceus, the Original One from Pokémon.

Aslan, the Great Lion from the Chronicles of Narnia.

Throughout history, the idea of a supreme deity, a being above all others that is always watching those below, is something that has always been pondered. And in the world of storytelling, it can bring about characters of incredible power that stand above all others in their respective worlds.

These two beings are some of the best examples of this, the very creators and masters of their respective lands, and all that extends beyond. They are unmatched in scope and scale by any in their stories, but if the mightiest Pokémon of all clashed against the child of the Emperor Beyond the Sea, who would come out on top? Brace yourselves, for reality itself is merely an extension of the wills of these two titans, and only one supreme being shall emerge the ultimate creator in this DEATH BATTLE!

Background

Arceus

“Welcome to my realm, located beyond both time and space. It is well that thou art here. I am that which humans call Arceus.”

The World of Pokémon - full of dense trees, wide oceans, fiery mountains and lovely skies. It is a diverse world full of wonder and majesty that, for the last 25 years, has been one of the most loved worlds in video games, populated by over 1000 different Pokémon. However, the question remains, who created this world? In 2007, we finally got an introduction to the creator of all things: the Mythical God known as Arceus

Arceus is the progenitor of all reality in the Pokémon multiverse, having existed since the dawn of creation and created all of the 1000+ Pokémon that are currently known. Most notably, Arceus created three deities that were integral to the creation of reality: Palkia, the Pokémon with control over all space, Dialga, the Pokémon who rules over time, and Giratina, the being in charge of the complete opposite of all matter that exists in the universe, antimatter. After the creation of these three Legendary Pokémon, Arceys would go on to create many more, and after the universe came to be, its true form left this plane of existence, watching over the universe in the form of a weaker avatar.

Everything was peaceful for a time, until Giratina betrayed Palkia and Dialga, and as consequence it was cast into the Distortion World. After this, Arceus took a backseat in the governing of the universe, only interfering if the very fabric of reality were to be threatened, or if there was conflict between the Creation Trio. It rarely interacts with humans, though when Giratina began to influence events in order to bring chaos to the world, it saw no choice but to send a young human to the past in order to stop its machinations. Eventually, with the help of the Pokémon they managed to capture, this human eventually stopped Giratina’s plans. It was then that Arceus offered them a challenge: to defeat it in combat.

The results of this encounter are hazy, but Arceus continued watching over the Pokémon multiverse and all that it had created. With its awesome power and legendary might, few could even match its power. As stated by the legendary book of Pokémon known as Smogon,

“His stats are unrivaled; His versatility is unmatched. His potential remains unlimited. He has transcended beyond typing, for Multitype allows Him to assume any of the seventeen types that He so desires. Even then, His purest forme remains seated upon His throne. Whether wiping His creations from the fabric of existence as Extreme Killer or standing as their resolute guardian by virtue of Wallceus, the God of Pokémon knows no bounds. Dare not incur Arceus's divine wrath, or else the consequences shall be severe and merciless, and life shall become but an evanescent wisp.”

Aslan

"Narnia, Narnia, Narnia, awake. Love. Think. Speak. Be walking trees. Be talking beasts. Be divine waters."

Few tales can compare to the scale and magnitude of the very Chronicles of Narnia. Across time they tell tales of heroes, adventures, battles, and eras of wonder to the citizens of the world of Narnia. But across all those tales, across all things in the world, there remains one certain constant that is ever unchanging and ever true. To all those who are good and believe in him, when the day is at its darkest and all hope is lost, all will change for the better at the arrival of the lion. For he is no simple, tame lion. No, he is the son of the Emperor Beyond the Sea, the mightiest of all beasts, the legendary lion known to the people of Narnia as Aslan.

Aslan is the creator of the world of Narnia, who existed when it was empty and dark. In the presence of four humans from Earth (and a horse) he sang a song of creation, breathing life into the world from nothingness and bringing about all that is good. He gave animals the gift of speech and blessed the world with peace and harmony. But all was not right in the land, for there was another who unrightfully came into the world.

Jadis, the White Witch and destroyer of the world of Charn. She attempted to oppose Aslan and his creation to claim it for herself, and so the lion set in motion the events to spell her defeat by ensuring the land was blessed with all it would need to be safe. Setting up a proper kingdom for the denizens of Narnia, he departed for the time, though legends claimed he would return when the time was right to defeat the witch once and for all.

That time would come far in the future of Narnia, when Jadis buried the land in eternal winter and frost. Aslan would eventually come to make all right once more, by setting up four human children from Earth as kings and queens of Narnia. But a problem arose, for one of the four, Edmund, had betrayed the others to Jadis, and was now her rightful property to pay the price of death. To counter the ancient magic put in place against such treason long ago by the Emperor Beyond the Sea, Aslan paid the ultimate price by taking the penalty in Edmund’s stead, willingly allowing himself to taste the bitterness of death at the witch’s hands.

But the witch was undone in that moment, for deeper magic from before time itself existed was at play, and Aslan was soon back in action. The lion undid all her dark work at once, freeing all her prisoners before finally confronting her on the battlefield where she intended to kill all who challenged her. Finally facing off in combat, Aslan effortlessly slew Jadis once and for all, and peace reigned supreme.

From then on, many more tales and stories would be told with Aslan’s involvement. The foiling of an attack on a neighboring country, Archenland, new kings coming to the throne, voyages across an expansive sea, the rescue of a missing prince, and even the end of Narnia itself. All were events that would have taken a turn for the worse, were it not for the divine and benevolent intervention of Aslan himself.

And Aslan would eventually disperse his righteous judgement on all. Those who believed in the lion and those in the ranks of the righteous would finally find eternal rest in Aslan’s Country in the last battle. Peace would never shatter, sorrow never invade, and darkness would never gain so much as a toehold on Aslan’s Country. So let all allies of the righteous take heart. For never a day will come in which evil can truly triumph, for all darkness will be undone once the lion appears to set things right.

Experience & Skill

Arceus

Arceus is the original Pokémon, and the creator of everything throughout the series and the extensive different forms of media. As such, it is obvious that Arceus would be immensely skilled and experienced. As the one who created all things, Arceus should have knowledge and capability of all existing Pokémon moves, giving the creature an outright massive arsenal of powers to choose from. This gives Arceus skill and mastery over many different forms of combat and abilities, with there not really being anything Arceus shouldn’t be capable of.

The Original One’s experience is also remarkable. Just a weakened avatar of Arceus, which was missing plates, was capable of easily walloping all three members of the Creation Trio by itself. This would be dealing with a notable numbers disadvantage, and fighting far from its peak, giving Arceus experience in handling situations that might not always be in its favor and still coming out on top regardless. This also demonstrates that Arceus has defeated beings of enormous power that can similarly threaten multiverses, allowing it to be knowledgeable on how to deal with such forces. Even the giants that previously wielded the Plates would have been defeated by Arceus, making the Original One’s experience very impressive.

In short, Arceus is not to be taken lightly in really any category. The creator’s skill and experience is matched by none in the Pokémon multiverse, and all things should be possible for it. It is also gifted with immense intelligence, exceeding that of all others throughout the series as the creator of them all. There really shouldn’t be any power or skill beyond the grasp and knowledge of Arceus, and the Original One is armed with the experience in battle to back up his powers in an impressive display of ability.

Aslan

As the creator of Narnia and all other worlds, it’s natural that Aslan is armed with remarkable skill and experience in essentially all fields. All spells and powers in the series were created and are known by him, and he has mastery over them all. This even includes the likes of a massive spellbook in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which cannot be turned backward after a page has been turned. Aslan has also been implied to have intervened and acted in all worlds, not just within Narnia. As such, he should have experience handling situations throughout all forms of reality, giving him plenty of experience to rely on for his exploits. With the ability to use essentially any power in existence, Aslan’s skill and ability is formidable, and he is far above any other character in the series.

On top of that, Aslan’s intelligence is also insurmountable. It is quite likely that Aslan possesses total omniscience, being aware of all things in his creation and the many lands he rules. He possesses perfect knowledge that transcends even the laws of time, and is never once caught not knowing something throughout the series. And with this intelligence comes great wisdom, as Aslan has frequently used his knowledge to aid others. Aslan’s advice, when followed, has always resulted in great accomplishments and victory, while the situations where his instructions are ignored tend to be very poor, as best shown in The Silver Chair. Multiple times throughout the story the party fails to heed Aslan’s words, and suffers for it constantly. But the one time they finally do so, the party finds the target of their quest and succeeds in their mission. There really is no limit to Aslan’s knowledge or wisdom, and there are no anti-feats to counter such a claim.

Overall, Aslan is generally just a character unbound by limitations or shortcomings in categories like skill, experience, or intelligence. While he has never fought a foe comparable to him, he has aided heroes throughout time over and over again, and is armed with the knowledge and wisdom to rule all things perfectly. His skill and ability in all things is absolute, fitting for the creator of everything in the series.

Equipment

Arceus

Plates

Arceus carries with it 19 mystical slabs known as Plates, each of which houses the very essence of one of the 18 different Pokémon Types with the only expectation being the Legend Plate which is rather special. These plates, which house the power of giants slain long before the world came into existence, are what bestowed powers to Pokémon, allowing them to use an unprecedented variety of unique moves and abilities. Combined with Arceus’ ability known as Multitype, it allows Arceus unparalleled versatility, as it allows it to change its type as well as the typing of its most powerful move, Judgement. As they are part of its very being, Arceus’ Plates cannot be stolen, knocked away, copied, modified, or canceled

These Plates even outside of Arceus itself also are quite powerful as Arceus once used the Splash Plate in order to create a massive dome of water. They can also boost a Pokémon's stats as shown when Heatran was boosted immensely after it swallowed the Flame Plate. In fact, the Plates are so powerful that swallowing it caused the Flame Plate to take over Heatran, transforming it into a giant magma monster. Despite this, the Plates desire returning to Arceus, meaning that possessing a Pokémon will lead them to trying to do exactly that, even at the cost of the world around them. In terms of the following 19 Plates are as followed:

  • Legend Plate: Introduced in Legends: Arceus, this plate allows Arceus to change its type when it is using its signature move, Judgement, into a type that is super-effective against the opposing Pokémon. For example, against a Fire Type, Arceus’ Judgement will most likely turn into a Water Type move.

  • Blank Plate: This plate imbues Arceus with the power of normalcy, returning it to a Normal type, and boosting the power of Normal Type moves by 20%, including Judgement.

  • Earth Plate: This plate turns Judgement into a Ground Type attack and boosts the power of Ground Type Moves by 20%. It is also affected by Multitype as when using Judgement, Arceus will gain Earth STAB with it. As a Ground Type, Arceus does not take damage from Sandstorm.

  • Fist Plate: This plate turns Judgement into a Fighting Type attack and boosts the power of Fighting Type moves by 20%. It is also affected by Multitype as when using Judgement, Arceus will gain Fighting STAB with it.

  • Sky Plate: This plate turns Judgement into a Flying Type attack and boosts the power of Flying Type moves by 20%. It is also affected by Multitype as when using Judgement, Arceus will gain Flying STAB with it.

  • Spooky Plate: This plate turns Judgement into a Ghost Type attack and boosts the power of Ghost Type moves by 20%. It is also affected by Multitype as when using Judgement, Arceus will gain Ghost STAB with it. As a Ghost Type, Arceus cannot be paralyzed by Lick and is immune to effects that prevent recall or escape (such as Mean Look and Shadow Tag).

  • Mind Plate: This plate turns Judgement into a Psychic Type attack and boosts the power of Psychic Type moves by 20%. It is also affected by Multitype as when using Judgement, Arceus will gain Psychic STAB with it.

Aslan

Claws & Teeth

(Don’t worry, he doesn’t kill her. He doesn’t even hurt the horse.)

Aslan’s not a tame lion, after all. Like all lions, Aslan comes armed with your classic claws and teeth, suitable for exactly what you’d think he uses them for. Unsurprisingly for a lion like Aslan though, his skill and precision with his natural weapons far exceeds your average lion. He can swiftly finish off enemies like the White Witch in an instant if he desired, but can also be precise and exact in just how much damage he hands out. As shown above, he was able to carefully dish out a suitable punishment to Aravis for an injustice she had previously committed, while ensuring she would still be alright afterwards and without causing even the slightest harm to Hwin, the horse.

Abilities

Arceus

Moveset

It should be noted that due to being the Creator God of Pokémon, Arceus would likely be capable of using all Pokémon Moves, of which there are currently over 900. However, for the sake of not making half this blog a massive list of every single Pokémon move ever, we have decided to only list the moves Arceus can learn in-game via TM/HM and level up. Rest assured though, all moves are being considered.

Normal

Arceus’ base element. Arceus’ normal attacks can be further enhanced with the Blank Plate. The Normal Type moves that Arceus can learn by level up and TM/HM are:

  • Cosmic Power: When using this move, the Pokémon taps into true cosmic power in order to increase their Defense and Special Defense.

  • Gravity: When using this move, the Pokémon creates a gravitational field. This move has several properties to it. Firstly, the accuracy of all moves is multiplied by 1.67 percent. Secondly, it causes all Pokémon on the field to become grounded, making any Flying Pokémon lose their Ground Type immunity, as well as those who are using items that make them immune to Ground Types. Finally it prevents Pokémon from using the moves Bounce, Fly, Flying Press, High Jump Kick, Jump Kick, Magnet Rise, Sky Drop, Splash and Telekinesis.

  • Future Sight: When Arceus uses Future Sight… it does… absolutely nothing. Though it turns out that while it may seem to do nothing, two turns later, the Future Sight will deal damage to the opponent. This move won’t work if the enemy Pokémon is about to be hit by another Future Sight, or another move called Doom Desire.

  • Healing Wish: When using this move, it causes the user to faint. It then immediately switches in the new Pokémon. The new Pokémon's HP is restored and it is cured of any status conditions upon being sent out. Due to it causing the user to faint, it’s pretty much useless in a VS context.

  • Light Screen: Creates a wall of light, doubling the Special Defense of Arceus and its allies for five turns.

  • Psychic: Arceus grabs the target with a strong telekinetic force. It has a 10% chance to lower the target’s Special Defense by one stage.

  • Dream Eater: Arceus eats the sleeping target’s dreams, draining the target’s health and restoring Arceus’ HP by half of the damage taken by the target.

  • Trick Room: Arceus creates a field of bizarre energy which lasts for five turns, causing slower Pokémon to act first.

  • Psyshock: Arceus releases a psychic wave to attack the opponent, which deals physical damage.

  • Calm Mind: Arceus focuses its mind and calms its spirits, raising its Special Attack and Special Defense by one stage each.

  • Agility: Arceus relaxes and lightens its body, increasing its Speed by two stages.

  • Stored Power: Arceus releases a blast of stored energy which strikes the target and explodes, dealing additional damage the more the target’s stats have been increased.

  • Zen Headbutt: Arceus focuses its willpower to cover its forehead with a reflective shield before charging into the target. This move has a 20% chance to cause the opponent to flinch, preventing them from performing any actions temporarily.

  • Imprison: Arceus prevents the target from using any moves Arceus also knows.

  • Psychic Terrain: Arceus creates a field of psionic energy which lasts for five turns. Within this field, the power of Psychic Type moves is enhanced by 30% and Pokémon on the ground are protected from moves with increased priority.

  • Mystic Power: Arceus gains access to the Lake Trio’s signature move. Arceus casts a wave of mystical energy before boosting its stats by one stage. (In Legends Arceus it boosts either the user’s Offensive or Defensive stats depending on which has the higher base stat, while in Scarlet / Violet it boosts the user’s Special Attack by one stage.)

Poison

Arceus can utilize the deadly power of toxic poison against his opponents. Arceus’ poison attacks can be further enhanced with the Toxic Plate. The Poison Type moves that Arceus can learn by level up and TM/HM are:

  • Toxic: Arceus fires beams of poison that badly poison the target, which worsens every turn.

  • Sludge Bomb: Arceus fires sludge at the opponent that has a chance of poisoning.

  • Poison Jab: Arceus attacks the opponent with a tentacle, arm, or the like steeped in poison (how does that work?). This has a 30% chance of poisoning the enemy.

  • Acid Spray: Arceus can spit fluid that works to melt the target. Using this move reduces the target's Special Defense stat.

  • Gunk Shot: Arceus fires garbage at his opponent, like with Poison Jab it has a 30% chance of poisoning the enemy.

Flying

Arceus can command the power of wind in order to blow opponents away. Arceus flying attacks can be further enhanced with the Sky Plate. The Flying Type moves that Arceus can learn by level up and TM/HM are:

  • Aerial Ace: Arceus flies around at high speeds to surprise its target before striking without fail.

  • Air Slash: Arceus launches blades of wind at the opponent. This move has a 20% chance to cause the opponent to flinch, preventing them from performing any actions temporarily.

  • Tailwind: Arceus creates a turbulent whirlwind that boosts the speed of him and his allies while it is active.

  • Hurricane: Arceus creates a powerful cyclone to damage the opponent. This move has the chance to cause the opponent to become confused.

  • Fly: Arceus flies high into the air and crashes down on the opponent at full speed.

  • Defog: Arceus releases winds which lowers the target’s evasion one stage, even if the target is protected by a substitute, as well as blows away deep fog, Mist, Light Screen, Reflect, Safeguard, Magic Coat, Aurora Veil, Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Stealth Rocks, G-Max Steelsurge’s entry hazard, Sticky Web, and Electric, Grassy, Misty, and Psychic Terrains on the target’s side of the arena.

Ground

Arceus unleashes the earth’s power to destroy its foes. Arceus’ ground attacks can be further enhanced with the Earth Plate. The Ground Type moves that Arceus can learn by level up and TM/HM are:

  • Earth Power: Arceus strikes the ground, causing it to erupt with power. It has a 10% chance to lower the target’s Special Defense by one stage.

  • Earthquake: Arceus strikes the ground, shaking it to damage all non-flying combatants

  • Bulldoze: Arceus stomps the ground, releasing a shockwave to attack all adjacent combatants, lowering their Speed by one stage. If Grassy Terrain is in effect, Bulldoze only deals half the usual damage

  • Stomping Tantrum: Arceus becomes outraged as it strikes the ground repeatedly, sending splinters flying at the opponent. The power of this move doubles if Arceus’ previous move missed, failed to affect its targets, or was prevented due to a status effect such as paralysis. This move’s power does not double if Arceus’ previous move was protected against by a move such as Protect.

Ice

Arceus can cast on the frigid power of ice to deal chilling defeat to its opponents. Arceus’ ice attacks can be further enhanced with the Icicle Plate. The Ice Type moves that Arceus can learn by level up and TM/HM are:

  • Hail: Manifests a hailstorm around the user that does damage over time to all active combatants whilst it remains active.

  • Ice Beam: Fires a beam of ice from its mouth, It has a 10% chance of freezing the target.

  • Blizzard: Arceus creates a vicious ice storm whilst using this move. It is known as one of the strongest ice type attacks and has a 10% chance of freezing the target.

  • Avalanche: Creates an avalanche that drops down onto the opponent. The power of this attack move is doubled if the user has been hurt by the target in the same turn.

  • Icy Wind: Creates a massive Icy Wind that lowers the opponent’s speed stats by one stage.

Fighting

Arceus can utilize the power of ki to manifest Fighting Type attacks to overpower its opponents. Arceus’ fighting attacks can be further enhanced with the Fist Plate. The Fighting Type moves that Arceus can learn by level up and TM/HM are:

  • Seismic Toss: Ah, Seismic Toss in all of its feat infamy. This move basically allows the Pokémon to chuck their opponent into outer orbit - at least, that’s how it is presented in recent games. In terms of the actual mechanics of the move, it deals damage equal to the enemy Pokémon’s level, so if it's 99 then it will do 99 damage.

  • Brick Break: This move allows the Pokémon to remove other Pokémon moves such as Light Screen, Aurora Vale, and Reflect from the opponent's side.

  • Focus Blast: Infamously known as Focus Miss, this move deals high damage but its accuracy is infamously terrible, as most trainers who have used this move can attest.

  • Bulk Up: Whilst utilizing this move, it allows the Pokémon to increase its Attack and Defense by one stage.

  • Body Press: Through slamming the Pokémon’s body onto their opponent, the Pokémon deals damage using the user's Defense stat instead of its Attack stat (doesn’t really matter because Arceus has consistent stats across the board).

  • Aura Sphere: Borrowing a page out of Lucario’s book, Arceus can fire an aura projectile that never misses.

  • Rock Smash: Arceus strikes the opponent. It has a 50% chance of lowering the target's Defense by one stage. It can also be used to smash boulders.

Dragon

Calling on the draconic power of the Dragon Type, Arceus is able to launch devastating attacks at its opponents. Arceus’ dragon attacks can be further enhanced with the Draco Plate. The Dragon Type moves that Arceus can learn by level up and TM/HM are:

  • Dragon Claw: The user manifests huge/sharp claws and slashes at the opponent. It does moderate damage.

  • Dragon Pulse: The user fires a beam of draconic energy from their mouth. This attack never misses

  • Dragon Tail: A physical Dragon Type move that does moderate damage but has the special ability of switching out the target Pokémon with the next one in line whilst heat. Champion Leon once used it to great effect in his battle against Ash.

  • Dragon Dance: When a Pokémon uses this move, they do a dance that raises their Attack and Speed stat by one stage each. This move is used a lot by competitive trainers, making many of them fear it.

  • Outrage: One of the most powerful Dragon Type moves. Arceus goes on a rampage for two or three turns, thrashing about wildly before becoming confused.

  • Draco Meteor: Arceus fires a large boulder into the air which then bursts apart, raining down comets from the sky at the cost of lowering the user’s Special Attack by two stages.

  • Roar of Time: Arceus gains access to Dialga’s signature move. Arceus releases a blast from its mouth which distorts time. After using it, Arceus must recharge for one turn.

  • Spacial Rend: Arceus gains access to Palkia’s signature move. Arceus releases a shockwave which tears apart the space around it. It has a high critical-hit ratio.

Dark

Arceus can utilize the power of darkness to not only damage his opponents, but also hinder them in various ways. Arceus’ dark attacks can be further enhanced with the Dread Plate. The Dark Type moves that Arceus can learn by level up and TM/HM are:

  • Punishment: Arceus strikes the opponent, dealing additional damage the more the target’s stats have been increased.

  • Payback: Arceus stores power after being attacked before striking the opponent, dealing twice as much damage as he received.

  • Dark Pulse: Arceus unleashes a blast of dark energy at the opponent. This move has a 20% chance to cause the opponent to flinch, preventing them from performing any actions temporarily.

  • Hone Claws: Arceus sharpens its claws, increasing its Attack and Accuracy by one stage each

  • Quash: Arceus crushes the opponent, forcing them to act last each turn regardless of speed or moves with priority

  • Snarl: Arceus unleashes a darkness enhanced soundwave that damages opponents while also lowering their special attack stat.

  • Foul Play: Arceus charges at the opponent clad in dark energy. This attack uses the opponent's own attack power to determine how much damage it does.

  • Taunt: Arceus taunts the opponent and makes them only able to use attacking moves.

Steel

Arceus can harness the power of metal to crush his opponents. Arceus’ steel attacks can be further enhanced with the Iron Plate. The Steel Type moves that Arceus can learn by level up and TM/HM are:

  • Iron Tail: Arceus turns its tail hard as steel before striking the opponent. It has a 30% chance to lower the target’s Defense by one stage.

  • Flash Cannon: Arceus gathers light energy before releasing it as a giant beam. It has a 10% chance to lower the target’s Special Defense by one stage.

  • Iron Head: Arceus hardens its hit and hits the opponent with great force. This move has a 30% chance to cause the opponent to flinch, preventing them from performing any actions temporarily.

  • Iron Defense: Arceus hardens its body like iron, raising its Defense by two stages.

  • Heavy Slam: Arceus’s slams the opponent with its heavy body, The more the user outweighs its target, the more damage it does.

  • Steel Beam: Arceus fires a beam of steel from its mouth, and the user takes damage equal to half of its maximum HP rounded up (unless it has Magic Guard).

Fairy

Arceus can utilize the power of fae magic to deal damage to opponents. Arceus’ fairy attacks can be further enhanced with the Pixie Plate. The Fairy Type moves that Arceus can learn by level up and TM/HM are:

  • Dazzling Gleam: Arceus unleashes a powerful flash of light which doubles as a projectile to damage the opponent. This attack has a notably wide AoE.

  • Misty Terrain: Arceus creates a field of fae magic which lasts for five turns. Within this field, the power of Dragon Type moves is halved and Pokémon on the ground are unable to to be inflicted with Confusion, as well as non-volatile status conditions such as Burns, Freezing, Frostbite, Paralysis, Poison, Sleep, and Drowsiness.

Omniscience

Uxie, who holds dominion over the concept of knowledge, is merely an extension of Arceus’ own being. In Pokémon Conquest, Arceus has the ability “Omniscience and Omnipotence”, with Omniscience seemingly being attributed to Arceus having the ability “Instinct”, which makes it easier to dodge enemies’ attacks. Arceus watches over the multiverse, observing and waiting for the day mortals desperately need its help with a problem they are incapable of solving themselves. (Despite this, however, Arceus is still vulnerable to the dreaded Plot-Induced Stupidity.) Tracks Giratina's reappearance from Shadow Force

Dialga can respond to the requests of people, even after transporting them across time, even when unconscious. Dialga appears to save Pikachu and Piplup from a spacetime hole that suddenly appeared. Dialga and Palkia traveled from their worlds to protect Ash and friends from Arceus' sudden attack, followed afterwards by Giratina. Giratina observes the Pokémon world through any and all reflective surfaces.

The Advent of Arceus “Arceus LV.X” TCG card has the Poke-Body Omniscient, which allows it to use the attacks of any other Arceus card in play.

(The TCG cards are considered to be in-verse pages of encyclopedia by Game Director Atsushi Nagashima, which is supported by James using the TCG in place of a Pokedex during Bad to the Bone and Pearls are a Spoink’s Best Friend, as well as the Ancient Mew card being part of Lawrence III, an avid Pokémon and artifact collector’s, collection. Admittedly, the TCG should still be taken with a grain of salt due to many elements existing solely within the TCG and not the greater world.)

Omnipresence

Arceus exists in all things, existing both everywhere and nowhere at once, observing all things while its consciousness resides within its realm beyond time and space. Due to this, similarly to Dialga, Arceus can act even while its avatar is unconscious.

Acausality

After traveling back in time to discover the mystery behind the counterfeit Jewel of Life and calm Arceus’ rage, Ash and friends were sent back to the present, only to discover that Arceus was still fighting the Creation Trio in a fit of rage. It wasn’t until Ash stepped in and Arceus chose to look back to the new path of history that it calmed down.

Similarly, Giratina, who exists beyond the concepts of time and space, resides in a realm beyond the mortal world’s logic, where even the very laws of nature are warped.

Creation

Arceus is the creator of all things, shaping the universe and all things within it.

The Eternal Battle Reverie has Arceus creating various Pokémon to challenge Rei / Akari, including Unown and legendaries such as the Creation Trio and Lake Trio. In the Sinjoh Ruins event, Arceus summons Unown and then creates a new Creation Trio egg. In the Adventures comics, Arceus summons the Unown to Sinjoh Ruins before seemingly sacrificing them to create the new Creation Trio, as the Unown simply disappear suddenly.

Law Manipulation

Arceus created the very laws that bind reality and can freely manipulate them as it pleases.

Time Manipulation

Dialga, who holds dominion over the concept of time, is merely an extension of Arceus’ own being. Dialga’s very existence birthed time itself across the multiverse. Arceus has even demonstrated its superiority over the concept compared to Dialga, as it was able to stop a wave of spatial distortion that the combined power of the Creation Trio was incapable of halting.

This means the creation, destruction, and warping of time are at its command, allowing Arceus to slow down, speed up, reverse (even to the beginning of time), or even stop time. Dialga has also demonstrated the ability to send beings across time (or time travel itself) as well as negate others’ ability to time travel by outright shattering their path of travel, create conditional temporal loops (restarting whenever Giratina tried to escape the Distortion Realm, forcing it to find an alternate method to escape), revitalize the frozen and decayed future, and restore those that were erased from time. When an injured Dialga appeared in the Almia region, time began rapidly distorting around it.

This also allows Arceus to manipulate the age of mortals, as one time while fighting against Palkia, Dialga was passively producing particles of light which were over time able to reverse the age of beings they came into contact with, causing Pokémon to forget moves they knew as well as eventually de-evolve and regress into eggs, blooming flowers to regress to buds, and humans to deage several years. Dialga could also fire lasers that perform these same effects instantly, even destroying armor that was specifically designed to resist these effects. Dialga and Palkia fix this by sucking up the particles from both worlds, which then restores the victims to their original states.

Space Manipulation

Palkia, who holds dominion over the concept of space, is merely an extension of Arceus’ own being. Palkia’s very existence birthed space itself across the multiverse and, alongside Giratina, formed matter. Arceus has even demonstrated its superiority over the concept compared to Palkia, as it was able to stop a wave of spatial distortion that the combined power of the Creation Trio was incapable of halting, and Arceus was capable of breaking free from Palkia's distorted space even in the absence of the Draco Plate.

This means the creation, destruction, and warping of space are all at its command, allowing Arceus to restore erased matter, warp entire cliffsides, or shatter reality like glass with Spatial Rend. Palkia can warp the environment around it to change it between different regions, create a fog to send people running back in the direction they came from, or outright teleport entities to different locations. Palkia shatters a dimensional hole being used for transportation, warping the individual inside to an unknown place and time. When an injured Palkia appeared in the Almia region, space began rapidly distorting around it, causing doorways and stairwells to suddenly transport people to different entrances across the region, with some doorways even leading to pathways in the middle of forests or to cave entrances.

The Creation Trio simply manifesting creates spatial distortions across a tower which cuts off wireless transmissions

During its fight with Dialga in Alamos Town, Palkia’s spatial distortions started causing the spirits of sleeping Pokémon to pop up around town, running around freely as if they were being chased by nightmares. Lickilicky's nightmares caused the Baron to transform into a Lickilicky as well.

Portal Creation

While being forced to fight Dialga, Palkia randomly opens portals between dimensions. Giratina tore open the rift in space-time in Legends Arceus, opening a portal to immeasurable other dimensions. Giratina can tear open portals within any reflective surface. Cyrus uses the Red Chain, which hosts Arceus’ power, to tear open portals and forcefully summon Dialga and Palkia. Even Pokémon possessed by the Plates can open space-time gates to Arceus' realm.

Antimatter Manipulation

Giratina, who holds dominion over the concept of antimatter, is merely an extension of Arceus’ own being. Giratina’s very existence birthed space itself across the multiverse and, alongside Palkia, formed matter.

Giratina traveling through a portal to Spear Pillar from the Distortion Realm physically warped the world around it. Giratina can use its power to produce shadowy puddles, whether to use as obstacles, attacks, or simply to cover itself in, as well as shadowy constructs such as spears. This also allows it to turn entire locations pitch black or trap beings within crystalized antimatter.

Existence Erasure

Could erase a sky full of clouds. Volo planned to use Arceus’ power to instantly erase the world. During one of their fights, Dialga and Palkia were passively erasing Alamos Town, eventually reaching the point they would erase the entire dimension, while in another they were going to erase the universe outright.

Mind & Soul Manipulation

Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf, who hold dominion over the concepts of knowledge, emotion, and willpower respectively, are merely an extension of Arceus’ own being. Following the Creation Trio’s creation of time, space, and matter, they came forth to create the Heart / Spirit. Heart, Spirit, and Mind are all used when describing the Lake Trio’s contributions, but they all refer to the Lake Trio bestowing life with consciousness; the ability for living beings to exist and perceive reality. Cyrus, while controlling Dialga and Palkia, was going to use them to rid his new world of Spirit.

Uxie is said to be able to wipe the memories of those who see its eyes. Mesprit is said to throw the emotions of any who disrespect it into disarray. Azelf is said to manipulate the will of its adversaries to turn them into puppets. The Lake Trio can astrally project their souls to roam around the world of the living.

Telepathy

Arceus normally talks through telepathy, though it can also use this to share its memories with people. The Lake Trio call out to Ash, Brock, and Dawn while in pain. The Creation Trio have the ability Telepathy, which allows them to avoid damage from ally attacks.

Madness Inducement

Arceus’ Plates are too powerful for anyone other than the rightful bearer to wield properly, causing Pokémon to start going berserk when exposed to magnetic field produced from Team Galactic’s experiments with the Flame Plate as well as ultimately corrupting Heatran’s Flash Fire ability when exposed to the Plate’s full power and transforming it into a giant, berserk monster after swallowing it. In Pokémon Conquest, those that sought out Arceus’ power ended up losing their minds. The spacetime rift created by Giratina causes the Noble Pokémon to become frenzied.

Resistance to Mind Manipulation

Arceus was able to push back the telepathic communications of Sheena and Damos, which transcends time and space and could even soothe the Creation Trio.

Dream Manipulation

The Eternal Battle Reverie, an infinite trial set up by Arceus for Rei/Akari, exists within the player’s dreams, allowing them to gain experience as well as items which then carry over into the real world. The Lake Trio communicate with Ash, Brock, and Dawn through their dreams, before the Red Chain captures them from that dream.

Power Manipulation

(The TCG cards are considered to be in-verse pages of encyclopedia by Game Director Atsushi Nagashima, which is supported by James using the TCG in place of a Pokedex during Bad to the Bone and Pearls are a Spoink’s Best Friend, as well as the Ancient Mew card being part of Lawrence III’s, an avid Pokémon and artifact collector, collection. Admittedly, the TCG should still be taken with a grain of salt due to many elements existing solely within the TCG and not the greater world.)

Sealing & BFR

Banished Giratina to the Distortion Realm. Arceus dragged Purple Eyes with it to its world. Ghris’ family in Arche Valley used Arceus’ blessing to seal away Hoopa’s power. Giratina uses its antimatter to ensnare Dialga and Palkia.

Life Manipulation & Healing

Can instantly revitalize a Pokémon's HP or PP or take away part of a Pokémon’s max HP. Created a wave of light which instantly revitalized Giratina, as well as Dialga and Palkia who had been rendered unconscious by Arceus prior. Fused five of its plates into the Jewel of Life to give life to a valley. Dialga used its power over time to revitalize the frozen and decayed future. Pokémon Conquest’s “Omniscience and Omnipotence” heals Arceus slowly over time.

Energy Manipulation

In an attack resembling Judgement, Arceus can fire out eight beams of energy from above its head. However, it can also summon these beams from outside the screen, waving across the field, creating thick walls of energy, creating four beams to close in on the arena, or creating a wave of beams across the screen. Arceus can also fire off a barrage of energy spheres, summon energy pillars from the ground either in singular lines, multiple lines, or randomly across the stage, fire massive beams of energy from its mouth, or create dark spheres to circle around itself.

Telekinesis

After a cave starts collapsing, Arceus emits a light which catches everything that's falling before repairing the cave and lifting the humans and Pokémon back to where they'd been standing, followed by freeing the Pokémon of their harnesses.

Forcefield Creation

With the power of all Plates, Arceus can create force fields around itself and others. Arceus can manifest its rage as a protective wall of light around itself.

Meteor Summoning

Arceus can call down a barrage of large meteors. Truly the bane to movie Arceus.

Aslan

Creation Song

Aslan is the creator of all things in reality within the Narnia series. And he comes with his own preferred way of creation, through song. Aslan’s music is able to create anything he so desires out of total nothingness, even bringing concepts like space, life, and time into being. One can actually hear what he is creating at any given point in his song, and it is said to be immensely beautiful to hear, unless you have a wicked heart (or you interpret the song as this). As the creator of all realities, Aslan has likely used this power an innumerable amount of times, but the best known example is when he brought life into the land of Narnia and all within it, transforming a previously empty void of nothingness into a beautiful world.

Omniscience

Fitting for the creator, Aslan is armed with total knowledge of all things in Narnia and beyond. He is perfectly aware of the individual “stories” of all living beings not only in the world of Narnia itself, but also the worlds outside of Narnia, such as Earth. This also comes with exact knowledge of the future down to the smallest details. Multiple times throughout the series Aslan has known exactly how to handle a problem perfectly, and accurately stated what will happen in the future. As such, Aslan is armed with total and detailed knowledge of all things in the past, present, and future in all worlds and realities.

Transfiguration

As shown in the image above, Aslan was able to grow wings on a regular Earth horse. Furthermore, Aslan was the one who granted the inhabitants of Narnia the ability to speak, and while it’s debatable as to whether that’s a matter of magic or physical transformation, it’s more likely that he simply gave all of the creatures vocal chords. Additionally, Aslan has turned a man into a donkey.

Restoration

Aslan has countered and undone many dark spells in the series, a good chunk of which involved restoring a victim. Likely the best known example would be in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, where Aslan was shown to be capable of undoing the White Witch’s petrification. He used this power to heal everyone she had turned to stone, including figures like Mr. Tumnus. This extends to other forms of magic as well, such as for when a boy called Eustace Clarence Scrubb (and he almost deserved the name) was transformed into a dragon, Aslan undid this transformation. As such, it is likely Aslan can negate and heal all manners of transmutation or powers that bring negative physical effects onto a target.

Invisibility

While Aslan generally does not actively hide himself, there have been times he might opt to turn invisible. He used this to converse with Shasta unseen in The Horse and His Boy, before finally revealing himself after Shasta came to understand the truth behind Aslan’s previous actions. In Prince Caspian, he was also unable to be seen by three of the four Pevensie children or their dwarf companion, only revealing himself to Lucy to guide them until they reached their destination.

Shapeshifting

Unsurprisingly, Aslan can take any form he pleases. His preferred form is that of a lion though, but he can adjust or shift it however he likes. His size has been noted to change significantly throughout the series, sometimes being a decently normal size and other times being enormous. His Lion form has even been shown to do things anatomically impossible for a normal lion. Like clapping, throwing and catching people in his paws or holding a sword.

He has also taken the form of a regular cat, generally in order to provide quiet and peaceful comfort to others. Outside of his feline forms he can also appear as a lamb, generally for calm and relaxed visits. There was also the time he turned into a bird during The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Weather Manipulation

Aslan's return to Narnia ended the Long Winter, melting the snow and thawing the lakes and rivers, allowing the return of Father Christmas so he can once again grace the good boys and girls of Narnia with gifts. Oh and I guess the sudden onset of spring for the first time in about a hundred years is important too.

Nature Creation & Manipulation

Aslan due to being a creator deity, he is responsible for creating the nature of the world. This comes of course with full control over nature itself, which Aslan has used in many different ways. An obvious example would be Aslan’s annihilation of the White Witch’s eternal winter, negating her frozen domain and bringing spring to Narnia for the first time in many years. He can also utilize other natural forces to his advantage, such as controlling rivers and helping direct trees. In the animated adaptation of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, Aslan had flowers grow or bloom under his feet.

Time Manipulation

During the End of Narnia, the rush of animals and other creatures was said to “have lasted only a few minutes, but at others it felt as if it might have gone on for years.”

-Chapter 14: Night Falls on Narnia, The Last Battle

While not direct, the implication here is that Aslan manipulated the perception of time to help smooth the transition of Narnians into Aslan’s Country.

Space Manipulation

As the creator of space’s very concept, it is natural that Aslan can do however he pleases with it. In the ending of The Silver Chair, Aslan seamlessly transitioned from being in Aslan’s Country to suddenly being on Earth, bringing Eustace, Jill, and Caspian along with him. He is able to bridge between any of the existing worlds in reality, and as such is able to access any location he wishes whenever he wants. He can also materialize himself in objects, appearing in the book of spells Lucy was reading in Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Aslan also has direct spatial manipulation: “either the Door had grown very much larger or the creatures had suddenly grown as small as gnats, a crowd like that couldn't ever have tried to get through it.”

-Chapter 14: Night Falls on Narnia, The Last Battle

Magic Manipulation

Having created all of Narnia and beyond, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Aslan governs the very laws and natures of magic. As such, he also has complete mastery of any and all forms of magic, even knowing spells that are instantly forgotten by those who use them after speaking them out. For instance, when Lucy reads a story from a magician’s house in Voyage of the Dawn Treader, it brings immense peace and happiness, but at the cost of the book being unable to be turned back and Lucy forgetting the words as she reads. Fortunately, Aslan knows the words perfectly, and he promises to tell Lucy the story often as a form of comfort and aid.

Furthermore, should Aslan truly wish, he can break the laws of magic as well. Generally he chooses not to do this, and prefers to operate under the same rules that his creations do, even if he doesn’t have to. But there are instances where powerful magic has been powerless against him, such as the White Witch’s eternal winter shattering just as a side effect of Aslan entering Narnia or the curse of Deathwater failing to taint him. As such, even the supernatural forces and powers are fully under Aslan’s command, and he can do as he pleases with any of them.

Mental Manipulation

Playing into his role as a benevolent figure, Aslan has not used mental domination or control on others before. But he has been shown to be capable of countering and negating it all the same. This was likely best shown on the island of Deathwater. Aslan was the only figure there unaffected by a dark spell on the island impacting minds, and the moment the party became aware of his presence, the spell they were under shattered.

Healing

Aslan is capable of healing all manner of wounds. Multiple times throughout the series he has been able to undo serious physical harm dealt to others, removing pain or restoring lost body parts. He was able to instantly generate a new tail on Reepicheep after the latter’s tail was cut off in a battle, and completely healed the throbbing pain Eustace was experiencing due to a golden armband stuck on his body. This is notable, as not even Lucy’s healing cordial was able to completely nullify the pain prior.

Flight

It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that Aslan is capable of flight. This sort of power is rather self-explanatory. While Aslan prefers behaving like a normal lion in movement, such as taking massive leaps through the air to pounce on opponents or to get over obstacles, he still has this option if he finds it necessary. As such, the lion can take to the air to travel as he sees fit, and bring others along with him.

Sleep Manipulation

Aslan can cast or remove sleep from others. Of course, as a purely benevolent force, Aslan chooses not to use such things for negative purposes. Instead, the sleep he casts is generally peaceful and a way to give one much needed rest after a difficult struggle. His power should also be massively superior to that of the White Witch, whose accursed knife was able to cast an indefinite spell of sleep upon three Narnian lords in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Upon the entrance of Reepicheep into Aslan’s Country, the spell shattered, further backing Aslan’s superiority to this spell.

Portal Creation

Aslan has created portals between Narnia and Earth several times, mainly to send people back. But he is the reason the Pevensie children as well as Eustace Scrubb and Jill Pole are brought to Narnia most of the time, a clear exception being the Wardrobe.

Spirit Summoning

As the ruler of Narnia, Aslan is able to call on it’s various Spirits and Gods, such as during the War of Deliverance (also known as the Narnian Revolution), where he freed the River God Bacchus (Known as Dionysus on Earth) allowing him and the other River Spirits to help fight against the Telmarines. His most impressive spirit that he was able to summon was Father Time, who was capable of being able to crush the Sun, and summon stars to fight; these stars can summon thousands of birds.

Teleportation

(Just imagine those are lions)

Aslan possesses omnipresence, allowing him to appear anywhere within the worlds he watches over. This can come with teleportation, as Aslan can leave one area in an instant or appear somewhere he was unseen at prior without movement. There is no area outside of his reach with this power, making it remarkably potent.

Resurrection

Likely one of the most iconic powers Aslan has access to. It most famously came into play when Aslan was restored from death after the events at the Stone Table in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Besides coming back from death himself, Aslan also has the power to restore others from death itself and even heal them of age. This was shown at the end of The Silver Chair, where Aslan brought Caspian back from death for one last mission before allowing him to peacefully enter Aslan’s Country.

Aslan’s Country

Aslan’s Country is the place where all good Narnians would go when they died, though passage into Aslan’s Country was also possible from all worlds. This means that it is the afterlife of all worlds. It is a world that Aslan has full control over and can transport people into at his will. He can also create massive doorways at any point, leading whoever goes through straight into his domain. As such, Aslan always has a way to access his country, even as a regular avatar.

Deep Magic

The Deep Magic of Narnia can be somewhat considered as fate, as it has existed from the beginning of the world but each verse of the Magic only seems to crop up once. Such as during the events of Edmund Pevensie’s betrayal and the Deep Magic that is invoked by Jadis and Aslan. With Jadis invoking her right to execute any and all traitors, and Aslan countering it with “Deeper Magic” that states that -  “If a willing Victim that has committed no treachery is killed in a traitor's stead, the Stone Table will crack; and even death itself would turn backwards.”

Forms

Arceus

Avatars

When Arceus wants to test a human with potential, it appears in the mortal world using one of its avatars. Arceus’ avatar tends to appear in the form of a regal white alpaca or llama, with green and red eyes and a gold ring around its torso, with green gems at the end of each of its four tips. It has gold tips on its feet and at the top of its forehead. This seems to be the form it always uses when Arceus wants to interact with the mortal world.

This form is the most powerful Pokémon, in lore and even stat-wise, when discluding alternate forms. It uses plates to change its typing, and is capable of learning and using more moves than most other Pokémon in the games. It shows off many other abilities as well, usually over the manipulation of light and energy.

On other occasions, Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina have been referred to as avatars or “Alter Egos” of Arceus, similar to how Arceus is the avatar of the Original Spirit. This should, reasonably, also extend to the Lake Trio as they are of the same nature as the Creation Trio.

True Form

Arceus exists in all things, both everywhere and nowhere at once, observing all things while its consciousness resides within its realm beyond time and space. While little is known about this form, even including what it looks like, this form is still powerful.

Aslan

Avatars

When traversing the various worlds he watches over, Aslan uses the form of a Lion to be comprehensible by those he interacts with. Though, it is implied that other avatars may take different forms, and Aslan’s appearance and form can vary from world to world. Of course, this does not mean he is limited to only one avatar form in the world, as Aslan was capable of appearing as a lion even while in the human world in England.

These avatars are capable of many of Aslan’s regular powers, such as the power to create whole new worlds entirely from scratch. He also has access to his magical abilities, and essentially all of the feats and powers displayed throughout the series are performed merely by Aslan’s avatars casually. Aslan’s avatars can be destroyed should he willingly allow it, though nothing stops him from continuing to work his powers if an avatar has been downed. As such, Aslan can continuously just use other avatars or even revive one, making them impossible to truly eliminate so long as Aslan’s true form exists.

True Form

At the end of the seventh book, The Last Battle, Aslan reveals his True Form to the humans brought from earth (the Pevensies minus Susan, Eustace, Jill, Digory and Polly) and it is not clear what that form looks like, simply that it is not a lion.

What is clear is that this form is the most powerful being within the existence of the books, with the exception of Aslan’s father The Emperor-Beyond-The-Sea. However, as Aslan seems to work in concert with his father’s influence and power, his True Form can be considered equal in stats. It is in this form that Aslan exercises the true extent of his power, far more than the lion he generally presents himself as to those who encountered him in Narnia. This true form exists above all concepts such as space and time, and is above any and all creations by Aslan and his father. This includes the afterlife of Aslan’s Country, where Aslan’s true form exists over all things.

Aslan

Overall

  • Created Narnia and all other worlds

  • Stopped Jadis, the White Witch, from being able to destroy his new world

  • Permanently finished her off in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe

  • Set in place the events that would lead to Archenland’s rescue

  • Shattered the curse of Deathwater

  • Restored Eustace Clarence Scrub back to a human and healed his wounds

  • Correctly established all information and events that would be needed to save Prince Rilian from the Emerald Witch

  • Brought all of his creations in Narnia to Aslan’s Country at the end of the world, where he ruled them all forever

Power

Speed

Durability

  • He has only ever been physically harmed when he has chosen to be

  • Was unfazed when hit square between the eyes by an metal crossbar, which Jadis threw at him. A crossbar, Jadis herself broke off a lamp-post “as if it were the most ordinary thing in the world” *without* magic, so the White Witch is clearly built different.

Weaknesses

Arceus

Arceus is powerful, no doubt, with much of that strength coming from his control over the elemental Plates. But it’s this very connection that’s been used against him in the past due to the plates being closely tied to his very life. While we don’t know how limited his life becomes after separating individual plates from his being, given it’s been shown repeatedly that his plates somehow always end up scattered in the mortal worlds eventually, Arceus giving away his plates was still used against him, allowing him to be tricked into a near-death experience.

Losing his plates also provides vulnerability, as Arceus loses the benefits of Multitype, rendering him unable to transform into or nullify that type. Even with Multitype, however, Arceus still possesses the standard typing weaknesses, as well as his all-mighty weakness to planet-busting meteors.

Aslan

Despite the unlimited power Aslan possesses, he doesn’t always use it. The lion generally chooses to operate by the rules of the world he created, willingly allowing himself to be subjected to certain forms of magic in Narnia if he desires. This does not outright mean he is vulnerable, as Aslan has negated and countered dark magics before without issue, such as the curse of Deathwater. He still makes the choice to usually work like other beings in his worlds though, for the most part creating solutions to problems and working his magic in ways that abide by how Narnia is designed to work. As such, while Aslan is fully capable of overriding whatever he pleases, he prefers to work within the laws of the worlds he has made.

Furthermore, as is naturally fitting for a being above all others, Aslan has never battled a force even remotely close to himself in scale and capability. He effortlessly dispatched the White Witch in a single instant, and even the dark being Tash resorts to fleeing at the mention of Aslan’s power. As such, Aslan has never developed much experience fighting forces comparable to himself, given how easily he can undo anyone or anything in the Narnia series.

Before the Verdict

Pokémon Cosmology

Pokémon’s cosmology is that of a limitless, ever growing multiverse. Every game, cartridge, playthrough, is just another piece of a never ending puzzle, coming together to paint a picture of pure infinity. It is all being watched over by the creator of it all, Arceus.

With the power of areas such as the Entralink, objects like the Link Cable, or even the abilities of other Pokémon, humans are able to communicate or even visit these other universes. These universes could have differences as minor as different Pokémon showing up more commonly, to major changes such as all light snuffed away from the planet, or events leading to amazing new forms to certain Pokémon.

In between the universes is an endless sea of blue swirls, and portals of various colors that lead to other universes known as Ultra Wormholes. This area is known as Ultra Space, certain Pokémon, namely Solgaleo and Lunala, are able to travel freely through this area. They aren’t the only way to enter Ultra Space, however, as there are cases of humans and Pokémon falling through space time into a dimension where they do not belong.

There is also the Distortion World. Said to be another universe parallel to the Pokémon world. An area where space does not exist and time has no meaning. Common sense and logic are reversed in the Distortion World, and it is home to one of the Creation Trio, Giratina. Based on how the events play out in-universe, it is likely there is a Distortion World to parallel each ‘ordinary’ universe, But this is just speculation.

Chronicles of Narnia Cosmology

Oh man, this one is surprising when you look at it.

To begin with, we know that Aslan is able to create universes and then watch over all of them, through multiple statements from multiple characters about Aslan, including Aslan himself.

Furthermore, this multiverse is able to be traveled through easily by Aslan at will and was even accessible to the humans Digory and Polly as well as Jadis who came from the realm of Charn.

Then we look at Aslan’s Country, as it is described as being more real than the realm of Narnia, which is itself a part of the aforementioned multiverse, we can conclude that Aslan’s Country is above that multiverse. You could attempt to counter this by saying that Narnia was a Shadow of Aslan’s Country, and not a full universe, however, we also know that there are at least two other realms in that multiverse, Earth and Charn. While we don’t know for certain if Charn is a full universe, we do know that Earth is and we can reliably infer that most of the universes within the multiverse should count as full universes, even Narnia and Charn.

The cosmology goes even higher, as within Aslan’s Country it’s said that it contains the “real” versions of all of the worlds within the multiverse explored throughout the series, with Aslan’s Country being above even them, a multiverse above a multiverse, more “real” than that which is below it.

This is explained with the concept of a Reverse Onion of infinite layers, becoming larger and more real the deeper you go into Aslan’s Country, the implication being that Aslan’s Country isn’t even directly above this second layer but is infinitely above it, at a level that is impossible to perceive with a human mind.

We hope you enjoy!

Verdict

Stats

Let’s start off with the obvious. There is no reason to debate or go into detail much on how high these divine forces should scale into their worlds and lore. They are the top of the chains, and everything in their respective franchises is fair game in this debate. Arceus is the creator of all things in Pokémon and has easily defeated the likes of the entire Creation Trio with just an avatar that wasn’t even at full power. Aslan is the creator of Narnia and all the worlds beyond, and there is no force in the series capable of even remotely challenging him. Even the dark god Tash instantly fled from King Peter at the mere mention of Aslan’s might. As such, it should be plain that anything and everything should be fair to utilize.

As far as the avatars go, Arceus likely has a decent advantage. Both of the avatars are capable of universal creation and are likely much stronger than even that. Aslan even created the entirety of Narnia specifically with an avatar. But Arceus has done battle against the Creation Trio and dominated the fight with just a weakened avatar. The Creation Trio has feats and capabilities far beyond just creating a single world, and thoroughly thrashing all three of them at once should eclipse any performances by Aslan’s regular lion avatar. Aslan stands alone as the one being of such a caliber in the Narnia series, and defeating foes like the White Witch isn’t enough to keep up with the Creation Trio battle.

This also applies to speed as well. Arceus is obviously beyond the likes of Dialga, given the creator very soundly cleaned Dialga’s clock in the fight. It was to such an extent that Dialga was outright the first to fall to Arceus in the battle, and Ash and company had to rely much more on Palkia and Giratina to buy them the time they needed. As such, Arceus naturally is superior to Dialga and really beyond any conceivable measurements of speed at his best.

But Aslan created the very concepts of time and space in Narnia, even as just an avatar. As such, while Arceus likely claims the edge in power as an avatar, both of the creators are likely canceling each other out in terms of speed. Time is just a mere plaything for these creators, and both should be capable of infinite speed that will match the other.

Overall, the fight between avatars likely leans in favor of Arceus. While Aslan can perfectly keep up with the Pokémon in speed, Arceus is just too strong while Aslan is using a mere avatar to do battle. With fights against stronger opponents on top of that, it should be a pretty clear-cut match for Arceus.

However, the avatars are not the real focus of this fight. In order to see who will truly prevail, the real contest is between the true forms of these deities. And once that comes into focus, the balance of power completely shifts in the other direction.

Aslan’s true form should likely blow Arceus out of the water with great ease. At this point, comparisons of foes fought, and scaling are irrelevant. To truly see who is strongest, it becomes imperative to find out which god has the greater creation. In that regard, Aslan has a dominant edge.

The Pokémon series is made up of a vast, if not infinitely sized multiverse of branching timelines, possibilities, and worlds. Above it all stands Arceus, the Original One that brought these many lands into being. You can easily argue that Arceus has the power to create or destroy an infinite multiverse, if not more. Arceus also dwells in a world beyond space and time, likely a higher plane of existence above everything else in the infinite multiverse of Pokémon.

However, Aslan’s worlds are comparable and superior. The Wood Between the Worlds in The Magician’s Nephew showcases that Narnia is just one of many universes and worlds extending outward further and further, also possibly infinite. Worlds like Narnia, Charn, and even the very universe we live in are all but miniscule fractions of Aslan’s creation, and the number of worlds is always growing. According to the White Witch herself, there were once only eleven pools (which lead to different universes, such as Narnia or our world). But by the time of The Magician’s Nephew, the land has sprawled out far more than the eye can see. To make things even more interesting, the woods are above the other worlds and their space and time. Charn was a dead world devoid of life by the time Digory and Polly found it in the woods, but Narnia had not even had been created yet. But both worlds were in the wood all the same, with the woods beyond their concepts and being. And this isn’t even the tip of the iceberg.

The true power of Aslan is displayed in Aslan’s Country, the afterlife. All of those worlds, all of those various events and histories, everything is but a mere shadow to Aslan’s true world. Even the Wood Between the Worlds, which stood above the others, is but a mere “copy” or shadow of Aslan’s Country. And the further up and further into the land you go, the more real it becomes. As the book itself explains, like an onion, with each layer being more real than the last, the last world seems like a mere dream. And this goes on into infinity. Above all of these infinite transcending layers of reality, piling onto the already transcending gateways of the Wood Between the Worlds, stands Aslan. The worlds of Narnia and our land are but mere shadows and copies that infinitely transcend to be greater and greater the further into Aslan’s Country one goes.

In short, it’s not a contest. Arceus at his best certainly masters an infinite multiverse and a world beyond space and time. This arguably is enough to beat out even the Wood Between the Worlds, which isn’t quite as solid to be of infinite size.

However, Aslan’s Country completely obliterates any display of power Arceus has. Narnia’s afterlife infinitely transcends the Pokémon worlds further and further, with no stop in sight. And Aslan’s true form is the master and creator of all these things. There is nothing Arceus can do to take down Aslan’s true form. The Lion of Narnia is just infinitely more powerful, and once this clash inevitably happens, Aslan will easily come out on top in this regard.

Arsenal and Abilities

As far as arsenal goes, one can likely argue that Arceus has the edge. Pokémon movesets are notoriously large. As the creator of all things, it’s arguable that Arceus could access all of these moves, and it gives him far more variety than Aslan has ever showcased in his occasional fights and exploits.

However, it is likely that both sides cancel each other out largely when it comes to various special powers. Both of them are far and away beyond concepts like time and space, so things like the Roar of Time or Spatial Rend won’t really be bothering Aslan much. Likewise, Arceus can likely deal with any manipulations of reality against him that Aslan might dish out, so long as Aslan has not used his full power yet. Both can negate mind attacks just fine, command elements, sleep, dreams, transmutation, and literally everything around them.

Realistically speaking, there really is no special power one has that the other does not have an answer to or is simply beyond. And in a sense, that is reasonable. They’re both gods of the highest degree, what sort of deity would be vulnerable to having a tornado thrown at it?

However, Arceus could technically have a few useful tools to help for a while. Things like messing with Aslan’s stats or arguably status debuffs could be a bit of a problem for the Lion of Narnia. They at the very least aren’t something Aslan hasn’t showcased before, so Arceus could hypothetically mess with Aslan’s stats to some extent. This would be especially useful against Aslan’s avatar.

The problem is just that it doesn’t really matter what tricks or techniques Arceus has. A few status debuffs aren’t going to save Arceus from the nightmarish edge Aslan has in raw power, and diluting from infinite speed just results in infinite speed. And while one could argue that Arceus has a range advantage with all the many different attacks that Pokémon use, none of them are going to slow Aslan down. While Arceus certainly has more moves and powers to throw against the Lion, none of them are going to do much to slow down the brick wall that is Aslan’s true form.

Tertiary Factors

Finally, we come to tertiary factors. In this regard, both sides have some useful advantages. Arceus certainly has the field when it comes to experience in battle. As previously mentioned, nothing Aslan ever fought in his worlds even comes remotely close to Arceus stomping the Creation Trio. Arceus also sometimes engages in battles with various trainers or joins them on the occasional journey. With experiences like this, Arceus certainly has the leg up over Aslan in terms of battles fought and foes faced.

However, Aslan does have advantages as well. Aslan is typically much calmer and more level-headed. He is always perfectly in control of every situation without fail, and not losing himself to anger means he will generally be difficult to put in a difficult spot mentally. While Arceus is certainly very sound as well, the Pokémon isn’t quite Aslan’s equal here, or else the events of Arceus and the Jewel of Life would not have happened.

Likely the biggest topic of discussion though would be intelligence. They are both divine beings, so would one be smarter than the other? While it can certainly be argued, it is likely that Aslan holds the edge here. Arceus unfortunately holds a few anti-feats in regard to being purely omniscient and all-knowing. Once again, Jewel of Life.

Aslan on the other hand has no such limitations in his track record. Aslan is fully knowledgeable of all things past, present, and future. Even when the White Witch thought she had the upper hand on Aslan at the Stone Table, it later turned out that Aslan knew about the entire situation. Letting himself die was just part of his long-term plan to destroy the White Witch once and for all, and to save Edmund from death at her hands or the Deep Magic. His perfect knowledge has allowed Aslan to perfectly orchestrate events years in advance in the simplest ways, just to reveal his plan to those involved far later. With no anti-feats and always displaying complete knowledge of anything and everything, not to mention never once failing to properly solve a problem with his divine plans, it is very reasonable to argue that Aslan has total and complete omniscience. And with that omniscience, comes a monstrous new advantage for the Lion.

The son of the Emperor Beyond the Sea will likely know everything about Arceus. Everything Arceus can do, has done, and will do. And if he didn’t before, once the two crossover, Aslan’s knowledge of all things will likely give him everything he needs. In fairness, it is likely that Arceus will have some level of divine insight on his foe as well. But likely not to the same level of knowledge that Aslan will have.

In short, both sides have useful advantages here. Arceus is the more skilled fighter and has more combat experience. But Aslan is more level-headed and complete omniscience is a very difficult force to overcome. Ultimately, Aslan’s knowledge of all things that are and ever will be, should be more than enough to claim the victory in this category.

Conclusion

“Thou hast done well to seek out all Pokémon. Unflagging devotion to a goal shalt see it through... So hast thou proven by thine actions. Much as that ancient hero once did. He and the Pokémon that walked beside him. To see such truths proven anew, beyond the bounds of time and space, bringeth joy to me. I am glad that I chose thee to call to this world.”

Advantages:

  • Avatars are much more powerful than Aslan’s avatar

  • Likely equal speed

  • Greater variety and a wider range of powers to use

  • Can likely counter the vast majority of special powers Aslan might use

  • Much more combat experience and has bested stronger foes

  • More skilled

  • Pokémon’s sales figures

Disadvantages:

  • Completely outclassed by Aslan’s true form

  • Powers can be countered or ignored by Aslan

  • Inferior intelligence and knowledge

  • More prone to rash decisions and fighting

  • Whatever that voice acting was in Jewel of Life

“The term is over: the holidays have begun. The dream has ended: this is the morning.”

Advantages:

  • True form is infinitely stronger than Arceus

  • Likely equal speed

  • Can very easily negate or break through any powers Arceus might use

  • True omniscience is incredibly useful

  • More level headed and better strategist

  • Losing any avatars really doesn’t matter

  • Liam Neeson

Disadvantages:

  • Avatar is inferior to Arceus

  • Various powers can likely be countered

  • Less experienced and skilled

  • Disney

Ultimately, this fight is certainly extremely complicated, but also very clear-cut. Arceus is without a doubt insanely powerful. The Original One is the creator of all things in Pokémon, and a force that none should take lightly. But at their respective peaks, Aslan has Arceus beat in every way.

Aslan’s true form can demolish anything Arceus throws at him effortlessly. Arceus might have the edge in variety and arsenal, but not much can be done to stop such an edge in raw power and potential. And to top it all off, Aslan will likely know how the fight will end before it has even begun.

Ultimately, the Son of the Emperor Beyond the Sea just has everything needed to take the victory over Arceus. We aren’t lion when we say that Aslan will just be able to catch ‘em all in terms of wins against his foe. No matter what Arceus does, Aslan is just the very best that ever was.

The winner is Aslan.

Final Tally

Team Arceus (2) - TheRealCalHoward, Frost
